This has been my go-to pizza delivery spot for years (lots of chicken options!) - but I hadn t tried the tiramisu until today, and let me tell you: La Grotta has one of the best tiramisus I ve ever tasted. Come for the pizza, stay for the wonderful service, and don t leave without the tiramisu.

If I could give no stars I would. The customer service was the worst. The food quality seriously lacking and their ability to blame the customer has no limit. I seriously suggest you eat somewhere else!

I go there regularly. The Meat Amore pizza is delicious and I have never had a meal there I didnt like. Excellent service!

If you want to try Italian pasta pizza or sandwiches or desert ( I love the Tiramisu), they have many options and also i would suggest the chicken wings freshly made and this is the one-stop shop I would recommend.. Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free and other dietary options Parking: Street parking and also back of the restaurant too but always ask the staff for a free spot Kid-friendliness: The staff is super friendly.. Definitely a family restaurant you would take to.

Very yummy, good quality, home cooked Italian food!!! Cute little restaurant and the lady working there is so nice! Got takeout meatball and veal parmigiana sandwiches, highly recommend both, they come on a soft baguette which was really good. Everything was freshly made and very well wrapped, still hot when we got home. Cant wait to go back!! Forgot to take pics cause yum

Amazing local spot! Friendly staff and great pizzas. So many options and varieties. We order from here almost weekly. They deliver local, and always on time. Our kids love the pineapple, and we love the many many options on the menu.

We found this place by following our nose. A couple of weeks back, I was heading up to my apartment and with me in the elevator was a food delivery guy who had a pizza that really smelled wonderful so I asked him where it was made. He gave me the name and address of La Grotta Pizzeria and I made a mental note to try out the place. I must say it exceeded my and my hubbys expectations. The pizza we ordered (the Pastorella) was pleasing to the eyes and delightful to the taste buds. The individual flavours of the different ingredients (sauce, cheeses, vegetables, herbs, chicken) were both distinct and at the same time blended with one another for a very unique overall taste. My normally picky hubby really liked the pizza and commented that it was not greasy unlike other pizzas he had tried before. I also found that the crust was light, cooked just right and didnt leave a bloated feeling in the stomach. I was full but it didnt feel heavy. We also got to chat with the owner who was very nice and explained to us how he makes the dough and sauce and where he gets the different cheeses for the pizzas. Overall, we had a really nice experience and we will be back to try out the other items on the menu. This place is highly recommended.

I really wanted to like this place. The pizza was mediocre, at best. I gave them another opportunity, and got quite possibly the worst meatball sandwich that Ive ever had. Subway makes a better one They seem like nice people. Nice little location. Reasonable prices. But I just dont like the food at all (and the food is what matters most).

Overcooked pasta with odd tasting tomato sauce, microwaved lemon chicken that smells like boiled hotdogs. Not Italian food. I know the pandemic has hit restaurants hard, but customers still want and deserve good, fresh quality. This was neither. Hopefully the pizza is better

This restaurant consistently fulfils my alter ego as an Italian. As a Scot raised in Greektown, there are no words to describe the authenticity of this food. Everything on the menu. I order once a week because it always tastes so fresh and delicious

What a great neighbourhood spot! The service was fantastic, the atmosphere was great, and so was the food! We were actually super pleasantly surprised at how large the portions were. Id highly recommend the housemade tiramisu, that was hands down our favourite part of the meal.

My sister usually orders from this place and it is always excellent, so when it came time for me to buy dinner for the boys for Dungeons and Dragons I chose this place. I ordered online using their website, and I was a little unsure if everything would go smoothly. My friends house is difficult to find due to being on a corner, but the delivery person arrived on time and if he had trouble finding the place, he didnt mention it. The pizza was AMAZING and exactly what I ordered. Everyone was hyped about the pizza and we slammed that excellent za. Marty, this pizza rocks! Best find!! Food is INCREDIBLE, had the most amazing gluten free pizza I ve ever had, they also do gluten free pasta - so hard to find authentic Italian that s GF. Staff was so warm and friendly. A real genuine place. If I lived in Toronto it would be my go to! Oh - and the price was so low for the amount and quality of food. 100% recommend. The food here is amazing! Cooked to perfection, always! I ve had their salads, bruschetta, mussels, calamari, pizzas and pastas. Everything is always fresh and most delicious! LITERALLY THE BEST HIDDEN GEM IN TORONTO, HANDS DOWN! 10/10 I will always recommend!

Absolutely delicious calamari and very tasty pasta. My toddler loves the kids pasta from here. I got the chicken marsala with spaghettini and in the past I also got the Alfredo fusili with chicken. My husband had their chicken Parmigiana. Everytime we get food from here, it is excellent quality. This is our go to Italian food restaurant. Highly recommend.

My wife and I decided to tey something new this evening for dinner in the area. We stumbled upon La Grotta on line. After reading many great reviews with a few not so great (theres always a few that are not happy no matter what) we made a reservation and gave it a go. We dont eat out a whole lot but were glad we tried this place out. The lady who took care of us treated us as though we were family. The food was delivered fast to the table, and we were very satisfied with both the quality and the quantity of our dishes. We shared a pizza, an order of penne with a lovely rose sauce, and a Cesar salad. With a glass of Perrier each and tip, 64 bucks. We would definitely recommend this cute quiet clean and peaceful establishment to anyone we know. We will most definitely be back again. Many thanks to the kind people who took good care of us there tonight.

I did not care for La Grotta. The pasta sauce was bland and they through our leftovers in the garbage without offering us to take it with us. She took our plates off the table without asking if we were finished eating. Through it in the garbage in front of us without asking us if we wanted the leftovers. The meatballs were very dry and hard. The chili flakes were ground which I thought was strange. For an Italian restaurant, I would not recommend this place.

Imagine we entered the restaurant at 11 pm to see around (it closes at 11:30), while there was an ongoing birthday party with a sign that there is no empty table(because of the private party). The lady looked at our face and welcomed us with a nice smile. I could vividly read her eyes saying lets not disappoint them. She kindly asked how many people are we... then prepared a table at the corner and added 4 chairs to it, and gave us a spot, as well as calling the chef, who had almost checked out! We ended up having a delicious pizza, and a superb experience! GOOD JOB! THIS IS CUSTOMER SERVICE.

We went out for a lovely family dinner and enjoyed it immensely! The farm to table approach by the owners just adds a cherry on top! We enjoyed a delightful dinner in the charming and eclectic atmosphere of the gem of a restaurant. We enjoyed the Fettuccine Alfredo and the Veal Marsala enjoy that we decided to take home slices of the homemade Tiramisu and Cheesecake. What a wonderful dining experience!

This restaurant has a small menu, and the quality shows that the menu is PERFECT! Great flavours, huge portions and incredible pizza makes this place a must try, either for dine-in or take away.

Best Tiramisu

La Grotta has a cozy, warm atmosphere that makes you feel like you are home. I love the character and charm that the decor, knick-knacks and artwork add. The food and service are equally amazing. It is very easy to access from the TTC as it is only a 10 minute walk north of Pape Station. It is the perfect place for a casual or special dinner out, and the environment is well suited for sharing conversation over dinner.

NEVER GO BACK TO LA GROTTA AGAIN!!!! We have been supporting locals specialy for the past year and a half but when the service is awful we got to speak up. Last time we got there to enjoy being in that cozy restaurant, the young waitress who served us was probably so high or something, not focusing on our orders at all, and seems doesnt like what she is doing !!!!!! She rolled over her eyes at us and walked away when we asked for the leftover containers and more water!!! Are you exhausted or you are so much into yourself? We have been there in the past because we live in Greektown and used to get good service and food from that restaurant but the odd thing was this waitress who ruined our weekend with that laziness, carelessness, and awful attitude. Customers deserve to get great services (Having a smile on your face, welcoming &, etc. ) because we pay for the food and that is not cheap these days. Overall not worth trying it anymore!!!

Terrible customer service. We ordered online directly from the restaurant in order to support small business. In the delivery notes we specifically instructed the delivery driver to use the back door as that is our main entrance to a house that we share (we do not have access to the front). My boyfriend was charging his phone and didnt notice that we had missed 2 calls. When he called back the owner screamed at him and told him that the driver went to the front door, to never call back, and that our business is not wanted. He also threatened to take us to court LOL

The absolute best pizza in the east. Great specials for individuals and parties on pizza, wings, pasta, and more. These folks are the real deal -- a true pizzeria and Italian restaurant that does all the staples incredibly well. Delete franchise pizza-slingers from your phone; go La Grotta!!

Instead of going back to our favorite pizza place, we decided to try something new and something thats not in every Blog post. Pizza is something you gotta try every mom and pop shop and not just Top 10 pizza in Toronto. We really didnt know what to expect from a no name pizza shop with only ~100 reviews when we saw La Grotto only 10 minutes away from home. As you can tell, we made an absolutely amazing decision. What an amazing pizza. We ordered the medium Tuscany Tenderloin with extra cheese and a Gnocchi Alla Diemontese (couldnt eat this yet). The Tuscany pizza had a hearty amount of cheese and meat. The base sauce was top notch. The crust was perfect, not too thin not too thick and crunchy on the edges. Not the Neapolitan style, this is more of a New York Pizza, but also not the thick bready crust from large chains. It was amazing, me and my wife couldnt finish the medium pizza, so we had to put the Gnochhi away for later. I will update this review once we have had that as well and or when we order more pizzas. Because we are definitely ordering pizzas from here again.

Ordered The Deluxe pizza in celebration of National Pizza Day. The pizza was deliciously amazing. Perfect crust, thin base and loads of toppings. It was baked to perfection. I highly recommend their pizza!

Did a skip order...the calamari seems over priced. Felt a little robbed tbh almost 20 dollars for a less than portion.

Yummy pasta

I read a good review about this restaurant and I ordered a Pizza and it was very good. I also tried their lasagna, it was cook to perfection. The prices are reasonable, the portion are substantial and the service is excellent. I highly recommend this place.

Solid 4 stars. This is another installment in my mission to try all the deluxe or combination type pizzas in Southern Ontario. This is a good execution of a classic combination. No question the tops were plentiful and care appeared to be taken in its assembly. Two additional notes... there was a distinct smokey flavour probably from the bacon. Also I noticed a hint of spice from the tomato sauce. Possibly the chef can comment / confirm on these two aspects. Definitely at the top end in terms of price (SM $16.99... see photo) but like I said a good execution. Is it the best combination pizza in Southern Ontario, no Jims Pizza in Trenton holds that title.

I moved into the neighborhood 2 years ago and found this hidden delight. I have only ordered takeout because of covid, but Joanna and the rest of the staff have been the nicest and friendly people in the hospitality game. Not to mention the food is amazing and authentic! I have introduced family and friends who now ordered it and come pick it up because they live too far for delivery, but happy to do so. Bravo!!

Extremely Gracious host. Went above and beyond to prepare a pasta which wasnt on the menu for the picky little one. Spaghetti tasted well and the smoked bacon tossed with olive and eggs added to the flavour. Pizza was awesome as well.

Ok. There s few places that I ll dedicate myself to when it comes to Italian food . This is one of them. More like comfort food, they don t skimp on the good stuff. Pizzas and panzarrotis are packed full of great ingredients. On a bad day the Panzos solve all my problems. Visited the restaurant for a sit down for the first time with the family. Love the service the owners give. The house wine is delicious. Went for a pasta carbonara after a calamari starter and it did not disappoint. I greedily devoured a huge position of pasta and had to be held back on licking the plate. Love this place! Visit the restaurant for a sit down. You ll be happy you did.

Really Good pizza

Ordered a panzaroti, everything was good except for they under cooked it. Rushed it to me too fast.

Delicious homestyle Italian food. Large generous portions and great flavours. The warm mushroom salad with goat cheese is outstanding and a meal in itself. The pizzas and pastas are really tasty too. They have beer and wine available for takeout at very reasonable prices and do pick up, or their own delivery in the east end, so no extra delivery app costs!

Best Pizza! Their sauce is like Italy! Absolutely delicious

Ordered via their website. Order arrived hot, quick and the driver was very professional and nice. However, the quality was way off. The veal parmigiano had the veal on the bottom of the container and was completely covered by rigatoni absolutely swimming in a sea of bitter tomato sauce. Im of Italian descent and can be picky about pasta so perhaps others would actually enjoy what I considered abominable. Had to toss it in the garbage. My friend had Fettucini La Grotta and she commented it was a bit better than Lipton pasta sides. All in all, her dish was edible though not enjoyable. I would assume their pizza is much better so going to give it three stars, however I will never, ever give it another try. Shame, would be great to have a good Italian joint in the neighbourhood.

Great little hidden gem in Pape village just north of the Danforth. Havent had the pizza yet but the entrees are well done Italian American type fare with healthy servings and fresh ingredients. Its a nice, unassuming, local place, my kinda establishment.

La Grotta has been my go-to for delicious Italian comfort food delivery for years. Their items always arrive piping hot, freshly made, and scrumptious. Their chicken parmagiana, chicken Florentine, chef s special pasta are my standard faves: garlicky, with fresh steamed veggies, served in heaping portions with crispy Caesar salad and slices of garlic bread for soaking up their flavourful marinara sauce. I ve turned many neighbours on to this place, and they ve become their favourite take-out and delivery, too. Pizzas, pastas, solid. Call them.

The most inedible lasagna I ever tasted. Never ever again! Felt like Italian so we went here for a taste... and if youre Italian you will not eat here. If you do youre clearly being paid to do so. Keep your disgusting food.

Definitely a hidden gem. The pizza is good as well as the prices. The location is very dim in terms of appearance from the outside so it makes it very hard to find if you re not familiar with the restaurant.

This is a beautiful place for pizza and pasta. Everything on their menu looks fantastic. We tried the woodbine and pape pizzas, which were DELICIOUS. My friend has the chicken and shrimp pasta which he loved. Try the house wine. Definitely recommend!

After a long day at work, I wanted Italian food. This restaurant gave me homemade vibes. Their cannelloni and their carbonara fulfilled me and my fiancé s craving for cheesy carb-heavy goodness. Thank you La Grotta! And it closes at 11pm (for those who work late and want to have some good homemade food!)

This is a great authentic Italian restaurant. My girlfriend and I were planning to go to Il Fornello but it was completely booked on a Friday night. We wanted Italian so we found this place and I am not exaggerating when I say this is leagues above Il Fornello in terms of ambience, authenticity, taste, service, and quietness at a very similar price point. Its a bit of a walk from the Danforth but it is worth it. Definitely coming back.

Nice and very fresh ingredients are used - fresh veggies and everything seems fresh not frozen. Pizza is great and the salads are so fresh and yummy. Nice clean food and place.

Great food and service

This is a delicious family pizzaria and pasta restaurant and I highly recommend it. They use the freshest ingredients and have an extensive menu. If you live in East York, you can dine in but many people order delivery. Recently, I organized a dinner party for a group of 20 adults and 5 kids and we held the party at La Grotta. Together with the co-owner and hostess (Joanne), we put together a great menu and they even made a custom pizza for us with our favourite ingredients! The corkage fee was low and the service friendly and accommodating. All told, it was a very economical and delicious experience. I highly recommend La Grotta!

Not one bit nice. Waste of $50

Ive ordered from this restaurant many times. I order because the service staff is super great! Ive even promoted it to local friends.... Last night, my blood sugar dropped and I called because I know I needed meat to stabilize it. I explained it to the order staff for delivery. I ordered red meat with any side and a Caesar Salad. Unfortunately, my blood sugar got so low, I fell resulting in a huge bruise on my forehead. Delivery was good, timely otherwise. This morning I called to thank them but also that I didnt receive any side with my meat and I was charged $24 for a piece of meat and a salad... I was screamed at by the owner and was told that my phone and address will be blocked. It boggles my mind! And a shame because Ive spent hundreds of dollars for delivery from this location for years.

We have ordered take out a few times and decided to go in for a bite. Food was great (we had the spaghetti carbonara and gnocci with tomato sauce) and the service was excellent. I would recommend it.

I used to be a fan and regular customer of this establishment. I will no longer be going here due to their horrible customer service. I ordered a veggie pizza for delivery and upon receiving my order noticed that the pizza crust was soaking wet and the pizza box had a huge hole in it due to the moisture. After calling La Grotta voicing my displeasure at receiving an inedible pizza I was simply told that when you order a pizza that has mushrooms on it thats what happens. How a pizza place can knowingly send out food that they know wont be fit for consumption is crazy to me. And then to not want to work with their customers to rectify the situation shows how much they truly value their customers. Shame on you!

It was our second time ordering from La Grotta and - NEVER AGAIN. They delivered us food that had gone bad, and their follow up to it was even worse. We ordered two different pastas that came in cream sauce. Along with dessert, it came to $68 bucks. Pretty expensive for delivery food, but if its good quality, whatever. The real issue was that the cream sauce had clearly gone bad. The food reeked of a fishy odor and tasted like itd gone off. We called the restaurant and explained the issue and were told the chef had gone home for the night (this was around 9:30 pm) so they couldnt do anything about it (Though, why would the chef have to be there to refund us or otherwise address the issue?) We then put the pasta outside in our compost bin. We called the Just-Eat service we ordered through and explained the situation, since $68 is a lot to just throw away. They had great customer service and called the restaurant on our behalf, who, after much back-and-forth, suggested they would remake our meals and send them over (.... so the chef DIDNT go home, you were just too lazy to deal with a customer complaint?). We explained to Just Eat that we didnt really feel comfortable with that, since it would probably be the same cream sauce used, and wed just like a refund tonight. This is when La Grotta demanded (through the Just Eat agent) that we show them the pasta to prove we didnt eat it. We explained that since we had called the restaurant and they said there was nothing they would do tonight, wed thrown the pasta out. They then told us to GET THE PASTA OUT OF THE GARBAGE, and theyd send their delivery guy back to inspect it in order to get a refund. Are you for real? You could hear the eye roll in the Just Eat guys voice, too. But we did just that - took the bag back out and set it on the porch for their inspection. So the JE agent told the restaurant we were agreeable to that. Of course, at that point La Grotta told him they couldnt be bothered to sift through bags of garbage and would (finally) give us a refund of the cost of the pastas (we still paid for dessert and drinks. Fair enough.) Wow. Between the food having gone bad, lying to us about the chef being gone, and the nasty attitude - were definitely never getting La Grotta again.
