62 Overlea Blvd, East York, ON M4H 1C4, Canada
Small and sweet place with limited but interesting and tasty snacks and sweets. Samosa & a must try. They are tasty and affordable. Excellent with a cup of coffee or tea.
This was my second visit after two years, and unfortunately, I was disappointed once again. The fish didn’t taste fresh—it seemed like it had been sitting around for days and just reheated. It was tough and chewy, which made for a very unsatisfying meal. Given that I traveled 45 km to get there, I feel like I wasted both my time and money. Regrettably, I don’t think I’ll be returning again
It’s an incredible spot in East York! I tried the chicken samosa, milk cake, and a few other desserts—they were all absolutely delicious. Everything is incredibly fresh, and the prices are really reasonable. I’ll definitely be going back to have more!
FRESH … Veggie samosas were piping hot . It was not over fried , just perfectly crispy . The balance of potato and dough was perfect. If you like fresh and not too spicy samosas … this is the place . It would be a 5 star if they provided chutneys too . Haven’t tried anything else , so my review is only samosa based .
It was my first time today at their location, I got veggie, chicken and beef samosas + Milk cake.... I'd say, it's not terrible for the price. I really enjoyed the chicken samosas, veggie samosa needs a little more flavor, and beef I'm not too sure about, I had one which had a really strong beefy smell, the other one was fine.. As for the milk cake, I'd say it was good, can't comment about the rest since I haven't had any.. but I bet it tastes better than the other shops around...
The best samosas in East York! The best prices: 2 for 1$ veggie samosa and have an insane dessert collection! Must visit!
Their samosa is the closest to the authentic Indian samosa that I've had in Canada. Spicy yet not authentic, crispy yet puffy, not oily and neither expensive. The sweets are great too.
Listen. Don’t worry about any of these haters. These are the best veggie samosas in Toronto period. Golden brown crispy crust, generous balanced stuffing, perfect size. Warning - very addictive. I have full hallucinatory cravings for the baklava. It’s too good I can’t even describe here sorry. Best baklava I’ve ever had anywhere in the world. Pakora is good too. And I kid you not - it is HARD to spend more than $10 here. Thank you to the family that runs this place.
Best place to get pakoras and samosas. Best rated
Best tasting samosas in Toronto! And they are really inexpensive as well! Great service too!
Cheap and tasty samosas
Excellent food and service.
Highly recommend this spot if you are looking for good chai, aloo paratha and samosas. Great quality, price and quick service!
We have been going to this samosa store for years and really loved their samosa and burfi. Today, however, was awful. It was a tiring Monday, so we thought of getting a to go. We ordered samosas, beef biryani and burfi. It started good as usual with the samosa. Crunchy and tasty as usual. One was a little undercooked but we let it pass. Then our dinner started going downhill from there. The beef biryani we ordered smelled good but after opening the to go container, we only found 4 small pieces of meet. So, we thought, that maybe it was just an oversight but when we tried it, the meat was so dry and hard to chew. It was a dark brown color and seems like it was either overcooked or recooked. And just when we thought it could not get worse, we took the sweets out. It would have been a saving grace except that as we had a bite of the white burfi, we had to spit it out as it was stale and rancid. The owner said it s cooked fresh but clearly something is not fresh such as the ingredients used. If we live close, would have come back to explain the issue. In fairness, the owners are friendly but not sure if this is reason enough to come back here. Lost trust and clearly the issue with not just the quantity but more importantly, the quality, especially the freshness can easily become a serious risk if not addressed, especially for those who have food sensitivity.
These are the best samosas I have tried. They got veggie, chicken, and beef, and they are all amazing!
Rude behavior! Felt so much disrespectful! Don t wanna come again and see that old man shopkeeper
Stale samosa. Rotten samosa
shops a bit sketchy. i only get samosas from here. best tasting little samosas i have had in the city
We couldn t even order this girl kept telling us to move back when we where just looking at the food we drove at least 1 hour to come here just to have some crazy lady scream she was gonna call the cops when we were just tryna look at the food completely disrespectful the worker looked at us like we did somthing so embarrassed dont go to this place ever !! Worst
Bought beef samosa, smelled bad and tasted sour. Cashier was too rude, should learn how to help customers when someone brings a complain.
Considering the reviews we went there to get samosa and Biriyani. Samosa was okay but Biriyani was probably from two days ago; we couldnt eat the chicken which was so dry and tasteless and rice was dry as well. I think they didnt cook Biriyani; just put the chicken on polao rice. Service was not good; the owner doesnt want to talk when asked the price just showed us the price list on the wall. I dont think this store should have such a high rating which clearly misguides people like me.
Amazingly flavourful samosas! Especially the beef. Very fluffy and crispy as well.
Best samosas ..not oily and very flavourful. Indian sweets are mouth watering.
Its a hole in the wall place that has the best and cheapest samosas in the GTA. Also, great sweets.
Worst biryani in whole Toronto, just some boiled rice with half cooked chicken.money wasted
This review is specifically for their mango Lassi. Its not advertised enough and the place isnt necessarily easy on the eyes, but if all you care about is taste, then youll be fine. I humbly believe this is the best mango Lassi in the GTA. And I have tried many, many mango Lassis elsewhere in the city. The consistency is amazing too as Ive been drinking this over several times - truly a hidden gem. If youre a mango Lassi fan, make sure to try it here.
Like always very yummy
Good selection of sweets and savory. Theor veggie samosas are a great warm snack.
Samosas were pretty good but I didn t care for his attitude.
Easily the best samosas I have found in Toronto
Best potato samosa and jalebi I have had in Canada!
Samosas are the best
I ordered a chilli chicken and got a biryani instead, upon calling was told thats how they make their chilli chicken!
Best samosas in all over GTA
I bought sweets it was very bad and hard they sell very bad sweets
These are my favourite veggie Samosas in Toronto. And super economical. Of course the deal was even better before all this inflation but what can be done, everyone s hurting. The store is simple and basic, but staff is always accommodating and helpful. Its my go-to place.
Love the methai here! Samosas are fresh and delicious
Very Bad and stale in taste, Very unprofessional, not fresh and also expensive, size of the samosa like lime, samosa is not crispy. If you want to eat samosa then go tu Mississauga at Britannia Road. Cheap and Best ever.
they were my favorite place for the vegi samosa however the last time, week ago, the samosa was not even what they use to sale. it was looks like the ready samosa and they just fried it and it was not even crispy. disappointed I drove far to get there because I was thinking they are the best. plz let me know any best place that have not spicy crispy vegi samosa
Very rude staff
I have had their samosas for over 10 years. They have NEVER missed. They have 3 veggie samosas for a dollar. Go and give it a shot for yourself. 10/10
Cheater these guys very big Cheaters, They arent professional sales people
Ahmed is the owner of the place. I got samosas and they were fantastic. I have been visiting this shop since 2014. If you want to snack, this is the place.
Best Jalaybee in Toronto just like the ones we have in Pakistan Very consistent taste. Cant go wrong with their Jalaybee. Love it
Best Samosas in Toronto, been getting them for years. Cheap, tasty, and authentic.
Cheap but best samosas in town.
Loved the samosa, my friend got crazy nostalgic. The chutney was good too! Surely gonna come again for the samosas, no wonder why people just come for the samosa, it got almost sold out within 15 minutes
Amazing samosa and sweets
Very nice deep fried fish. We always buy from this place. Food
Good samosa when fresh, sometimes they not fresh so becarefull
The veggie are my favourite samosas. Crispy, not too doughy with soft, fluffy, perfectly spiced filling. Friendly little place.
Bought a bunch of mithai today and had them for desert. I was so embarrased in front of my friends. All the mithai had a stale taste except for besan laddoo. You can tell that the mithai was made in old ghee/oil or are stale. Veg samosas were nice but the mithai and pakora were stale.
Delicious samosas. They are just the right amount of spicy and crispy. Great price as well. Hard not to finish them all before you get home. Will come back. Vegetarian options: They sell veggie samosas as well.
Vegetarian options: The best Food
This is my go-to place for sweets, jalebis. Samosas are okay compared to price. But the sweets are really good & affordable.
Tasty crispy snacks.. Samosa sweets n more
Absolutely disgusting, Healthcare attention required, very dirty place no cleaning at all, guys are not wearing gloves, samosas was absolutely bad.
As you will read in the other reviews, the owner cannot take bad criticism. Any small negative remark that is made on here is handled unprofessionally. To the owner, you need to up your customer service skills. Responding to customers in a rude manner will never help your business.
The samosas and onion Baji here is fantastic. Make sure you get the green sauce. I ate four samosas in the car right away!
Love love their veggie samosa.
Since the day I came to Canada I started buying samosas from you guys and let me say that I love it its like Im back home your guys aloo samosas are the best.
Tried their samosas samosa was ok but sauce they charge 50 cent is just literally water not recommended for samosa but must try their sweet they have various varieties
Great service
Found some traditional sweets from Indian subcontinent
Great samosas. Are these really afghan style? Their sweets are decent too.
Great samosas
My wife ordered $20 pakoras for takeout. However, the shop owner dropped in samosas in the bag instead. She did it deliberately and not by mistake because she put in samosas from below the table so that wife could not see what she was putting in. Even if by chance the owner misheard samosas instead of pakoras, the owner did not ask which type of samosas wife wanted (chicken, beef or veggie). This suggests the owner did it very much knowingly. Later at home when wife checked, it turned out to be samosas instead of pakoras. Communicated to the shop owner but she refused to take back any outside food.... Not at all happy at this underhanded tactic.
This is my go-to place for sweets, jalebis. Samosas are okay compared to price. But the sweets are really good & affordable.
Amazing samosas! Good chutney. Havent tried the sweets (mithay) but Im sure they will also be good!
Their chicken samosas are spoiled like four days old most of the times. I have experienced the old spoiled chicken samosas before as well. And I thought that could be a mistaken by them. But they still mix many days old stinking samosa with new ones. I hope the inspector catch them one day. I have the photos but it does not allow me to attach that ugliest photos of their expired samosas.
Customer service is very bad. And please dont buy biryani here worse biryani I ever had, But there vegetable samosa is good.
Fish amazing
Veggie samosas (vegan) have a tasty filling, crispy crust, and are not overly oily. Pakoras (vegan) are mostly potato and are more like fritters than balls (not a bad thing, just a description) and tasty and crisp as well. No sauces are provided. Very affordable. Got 12 samosas and 1/2lb pakoras for $9. I would definitely order from here again. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options available for sweets. Dietary restrictions: Samosas and pakoras are vegan. Parking: Easy parking
Fresh and friendly staff
New: Customer service has gone down drastically & overcharging for their smaller size samosas. Biggest concern is their hygiene & Toronto public health should inspect this facility immediately. In my recent visit saw flies in all of their food & back window is not glass protected. Old: Have been buying samosas from past 10 years. Hopefully the prices go back to pre-pandemic levels. Food is fine & love their sweet sauce.
Best samosas at best price.
Good options for desi mithai
Their veggie samosas are the best !
Very nice place to statisfy your sugar cravings,Samosas are very good too.
I got the fish and chicken biryani. The fish was greasy and smelly. The biryani was disgusting and inedible. I ll avoid this establishment going forward
Crispy, delicious samosas. I prefer the beef, the veggie are superb as well. The price is right.
1 of the places I go to get Indian sweets. good quality and flavor.
A nice little local bakery. Great prices and good variety of sweets.
Really nice samosas, cheap and nice options to have samosas
Veggie samosas are delicious!! And the almond cookies are also my favorite
Sauce was horrible samosas were meh
Really baddddd !!
The best Samosas on the Overlea & Don Mills area. Super price and super quality. 3 for 1 $. I really love it! The samosas are not the big size ones, just small ones but very good and tasty. Also i purchased baclava and I was surprised that I did not get the ends from the cooking pane in the display. The owner put me the ones from a new fresh cooking pane The store is very small, there is no opportunity to eat inside. Overall food is very tasty. 4 stars for the store cleanliness and also because they do not offer the samosas sauce if you are purchasing a bunch...I.e 40 samosas. Highly recommended for take out!
Delicious
Great samosas! Also great chill chicken and biryani. Love the sweets too
Fresh, crispy, and delicious veggie and meat samosas!
This place has delicious fried fish and jilabi
Great
Worst Biryani Chicken ever in Toronto, meat is tasteless and completely not fresh.
Great gulab-jamun & Afghan samosas (especially the vegetarian one) at a great price. The samosas are different from the ones you will usually find in South Asian restaurants. The jalebis are not bad. Can t say much about the other items in the store.
Prices overall are quite reasonable, great value for their food. Vegetable samosas are yummy, fresh only 3 for $1.00. Jalebi is fresh, about $5/lb. I have yet to try the chicken biryani, but definitely going to on the next trip.
Bought the chicken biryani. Came with a boiled chicken piece and rice. No flavour and no minuscule quantity. Wont be going here ever again
Tried for first time. Very Tasty Beef and Chicken Samosas, Jalebi and Namak Para (Salty crackers). Prices are quite affordable.
The gulab jamun with cream is very good
Their samosas are good
Bought the jalebis from the store and didnt like the taste at all. Not even close to how jalebis taste. I could taste the artifical food color a lot more than anything else. 2 stars is only for the chicken samosas which were edible. Jalebis went to waste.
rude customer service
Best samosa place if you are looking for home-made flavoured veg, beef or chicken samosa!
Samosas are there best sellers. Go for them, highly recommended.
This is the best place to come for samosas either vegetarian, beef and chicken, Indian sweets and Also they serve meals. The prices are very cheap and the service is amazing and its a family business and they are so so friendly and can order in advance and they will have it ready for you. We go a lot of times for fresh and hot foods and fast services.
Use 2-3 days old chicken pieces in biryani Nothing is fresh Too much smell..
This place always give you one samosa short if you order more dozens.
I love this place! But the samosas were stale/spoilt today and I probably won t buy them again
Good samosas, and even better Jalebi. They have a fair selection of sweets, but their jalebi is pretty popular. I prefer their vegetarian samosas to the chicken or ground beef. Always fresh and appetizing.
They raised the price of samosas. 50 cents for one small samosa is a lot. Im not going back here no more. It just doesnt make no sense.
The fish was not fresh used the old fresh the color changed to black not good place the worst place I have ever seen it
The owner is obsessed in cheating people by decreasing size of everything and raising prices.
I ve had 5 veggie samosas , two dipping sauce and a drink. Samosas we re fresh and delicious. The price is also very good. It all came to $5.
been going to this place my whole life with my family, best samosas in toronto and the community of Thorncliffe loves this place. cheap and delicious.
Bought samosas on Oct 15, 2021. 2 veg samosas for $1 is quite pricy as Size is very small and other places give 4 samosas for the same price. Nonetheless, out of the 4 samosas I bought , 1 was soaked up in oil and tasted stale. Overall the store looked clumsy and dirty. Went first time and definitely it would be the last time as well !!
Never been there !
This a go-to place for quality, affordable samosas. The 3 for 1 price cant be beat (veg), especially when the taste is this good. Sure there are a few other places where you can get cheaper samosas, but the quality is definitely not on par. If I were a little closer to this place, Id definitely be here a lot more often. But alas, I usually reserve my orders for dinners or potlucks. Ps: the fish also comes highly recommended; is made fresh and served right out of the pan!!
Samosas were good especially the green sauce with it but the tea was not so good.
Place is essentially a scam. Looked at the menu online and preordered chilli chicken. He gave me 95% rice with a 2 pieces of chicken and some vegetables sprinkled on top for $10. I told him this wasn t what I ordered and asked for money back. He did return the money. But just a terrible all around experience
Excellent food with taste.
Best veggie samosas Ive had in Toronto to date. And affordable too.
Great taste reasonable price !!!
treid this place for first time and it is great. wow love it... samosa taste soo good and lots of jalebi its fantastic.. 3for 1 dollar
Loved the samosas!!!and the price...
Samosas and fish are an all time favourite!
Love their samosas and green chatni! jalaybees are always so fresh and yummy! Tried their fried fish but not very impressed!
OMG the sweets are soH good!! Like back home! Awesome stuff
Best hot hot veggie samosa. MUST TRY !!
The best Samosas in TO! Try the beef and chicken
Excellent samosas! We get them for our parties all the time!
Best samosas in the city hands down
Terrible place to buy sweets Mithai. Please dont waste your money here. sweets are very old and has terrible taste. It almost made me sick. This place is very small and dirty. They need to upgrade lots of stuff there.
Love the samosas and the price! Cant beat that, also the jalebi is awesome
Great samosas at great price!
Good food for reasonable prices.
Bad customer service...I ordered 42 samosas and only 37. When I called back and complained, she only said I probably counted wrong... no sorry, no nothing. When I told her I will leave the bad review, she said thats okay, no problem! Means it really doesnt matter to them .... wont recomand to any one.
A fantastic unassuming spot for freshly fried samosas (beef, chicken and veggie) and Indian/Pakistani sweets. There is also a menu of curries and other dishes thats not overtly advertised - a couple of gems depending on taste, though they take a backseat to the samosas. A family business and the kids that work behind the counter are great.
Can be a bit cleaner, debit machine was filthy
Every time I visit there Samosa keep getting smaller! I also realized that they changed their oil...
Pakistani sweet shop
This place rocks, great samosas, sweets, and the place is clean, and the owners and his kids are super nice, the spices are settled, love love this place.
Yummy Samosas
Cheap and delicious samosa s, I can only speak on those but they are the best. Quick service. Very enjoyable experience every time
0 star and even -star ,I ordered fish with bone ,they sent me boneless when I called, lady is very rude and askin me to keep it .no customer service at all
Very disappointing! Was closed and hours of operation was scratched off.
Nice
Just took iftari today 10 ramzan 2019 worst place samosas they dint know how to make I bought vegetables and beef and chicken no taste at all beef and chicken samosa must have onion in it but there was non jalaybee ws worst too no taste at all pakoray were also bad no taste at all and the end bundee sweets they were so hard they supposed to soft but they were hard THE WORST PLACE TO SPEND YOUR $$$$$$$.
The size of the samosas have got smaller recently.
I love the samosa they make, but used to be bigger than now
Greap and tasty biryani. Cradit cards not accepted.
I always stop when I am in Toronto and I am close. Great samosas and sweets at great prices.
Good stuff. 3 for one dollar! Size is small but it s best for a dollar snacks
Please make your samosa bigger every time I purchase samosa they keep getting smaller and smaller
Good Place for Tasty Food
Visited first time and believe me, One of the worst tasteless and smallest samosa you will ever have on this so called samosa place .. on top of that if you need samosa sauce (chatni) they will ask you to pay extra 50c each no matter how many samosas you buy that time. Disgusting!! P.s no credit payment options at all I wonder how would be their other things over there ;/ if they don t even know how to make good samosas which is most easiest thing to make... The staff girl was also rude and very bad customer service manner over counter. I will never go there again nor recommend anyone else!!
Never buy anything from this place again. I visited last week and bought jalaibi and samosas and I got food poisoning with jalaibi. It looks like jalaibi was very very old. Health Canada should visit their store and close it. Never gonna go there period.
Amazing
Beautiful and delicious variety of authentic pastry. The Jalebi was perfect and they have it both with color or without coloring. We came all the way from Buffalo, NY, and will return soon for sure!
Visited for the first time and ordered chicken biriyani. Worst chicken biriyani i ever had, the taste was really bad and the chicken felt like two days old. I m highly disappointed with the food.
It was good.
This place could do with somecsprucing up but the food is great....lots of confectionariesxandcthe food taste really good.
Been going here for years. As the name would suggest I go here for sweets and samosas. Favorite sweets are Carrot Barfi, Gulab Jamon with cream and ladoos. As for samosas they have beef, chicken (2 for $1) but veggie are the best (3 for $1).
Hands down the best sweats place in the GTA
Love the samosas!
Just picked up a dozen samosas! 6 veg, 3 chicken, 3 beef... The veg is good but lacking typical samosa flavour and was only filled with Potatoes The beef and chicken were alright. Overall, satisfies your samosa cravings
