Hakka Palace in East York

My sister-in-law having recommended Hakka Palace located at 62 Overlea Boulevard, Toronto, I dined there on December 16th.,2023. I found the food to be Excellent, and the Service provided by Teresa at our table absolutely Outstanding; over and above that, the prices are very reasonable, the portions large. Well worth the long drive from the west end, of Mississauga! I have no hesitation at all, in giving this fine establishment FIVE STARS !! UPDATE: December 15th,2024 - Having visited for the second time this afternoon, I enjoyed the excellent food and the Same Outstanding Service. This influenced me to state that Its Worth The Long Drive, to Teresas fine Restaurant! FIVE STARS, AGAIN!!

The food is fantastic, no complaints there. But charging extra for condiments? That feels a bit odd. Peharps just include the cost in the price of the meal? It s pretty frustrating to pay for food and then get hit with an extra $0.25 for a pack of vinegar as I m about to leave.

Variety of combos, food is as expected. Overall a decent experience. Parking: Parking available.

Ordered the Manchurian Beef. It was no good at all. Meat seemed old and not fresh. We barely ate it but when we told the chef he argued with us. Food was expensive. Bad quality

Amazing restaurant with great tasting food and generous portions! My favourites include the hot and sour soup, chilli chicken, lollipop chicken, and manchurian beef! If getting takeout, combo B is great value. Service was also great and made me feel so at home. Occasionally they also have special menu items such as goat curry which was delicious! If you want delicious and authentic hakka food don t hesitate to go here. Hakka Palace is my go-to for both dining in and for take out!

Chilly chicken on rice is awesome. Also the chicken lollipop is the best. If you re craving and missing hakka in Canada then this is the place.

Very mid food asked for noodles and chicken they filled the plate up with mostly chicken broth instead of chicken, you have to pay to eat dine in and honestly $20 is too much for the food your served. Replying to my reviews saying this isn t your food, alr then why don t the people seeing this review go and try it and tell me if I m not 100% correct

Worst Hakka food ever . When dining in , they charge your .25 cents per chilli sauce . For customers bill, watch out as they add their own 10% surcharge without any notice displayed anywhere. When making credit card payment they add surcharge of $2. Cheating customers all the time Save your money and your health - do not go to this place ever

This used to be a really good hakka spot. Up until the owners changed and the new managements food and service just does not feel right. The food has a weird taste and smell to it and the service feels rushed. I hope they can go back to how it was before.

This place served us stale noodles, the chicken smelled and so did the beef quantity was very little the chicken looked like fried calamari legs which is very thin and small, noodles were also uncooked, most of the food smelled, some was stale and it was small quantity. Waste of time and money do not recommend!

I come specially from Hamilton! Today disappointed I Ordered , beef noodle and chilli chicken.. First bring wrong order, then beef noodle to much salty, so I compliant about that , got the answer we cannot do any thing , poor customer service .. so I paid my bill, and left . I am not going to come back to this location any more waste of time and money.

Avoid bad faith businesses at all cost. We ve been dining here for over 10+ years and recently the owner changed after her passing. The new owners have poor customer service and denied two people wanting to order one dish and share. They ve even gone out of their way to lie below and say one dish for three people.

Extremely high end, high flavor cuisine. My favorite hakka restaurant by far as no other can top this, itd be a joke to even mention it. Ive been going here ever since it opened as Faley. The food comes on time and the portions are plentiful. Go try some manchurian chicken fried rice with some crispy beef, bombay chicken and spices and peppers wings as your appetizer.

Went for takeout, staff was friendly and accommodating. Ordered Veg fried rice and Chicken balls. Rice was really fresh, chicken balls stayed crispy, the portions are very generous. Prices are better than most places. ($27 total) Recommend this place! Food

I wouldnt recommend, Ive been vomiting and had diarrhea after eating this food. Note. Im not a competitor, but I was a customer who wasted $70 on your food that made me sick. Ive went to hakka garden for years and never been sick once. The owner cant own up that theyre selling food thats making people sick. I recommend having your staff take their food and safety courses this way your customers arent getting food poisoning.

Bad food. I got 2 chicken combos and both smelled like bad fish. Either too much fish sauce or cross contamination with fish fried oil. Disappointed.

Food quality is average or slightly better. They do put a lot of shrimp and meat in their fried rice.

Only soups are worth the price. The amount of meat seams to be very low.

So we had manchurian fried rice would give it 8/10 had flavour, Szechuan fried rice was 5/10 it lacked flavour nothing really stood out. The general tao, it was different compared to the one Im used to, wasnt sweet was similar to a general tso 5.5/10. Crispy beef was good, the crispness was good flavour was similar to honey garlic 6.5/10. Chilli shrimp dry was amazing 9/10 probably the only memoral dish. Chefs special chicken was disappointing it tasted like it was made with tomato sauce 3/10 Bombay chicken was good the spices can be over powering but enjoyed the grilled taste well 7/10

The Manchurian chicken on steamed rice is SO tasty. I order it all the time. They will add extra sauce and extra spice for no additional cost. I love this place and will continue to order from here.

This is one of those no frills places which has good food with good prices and makes up for everything else just based on that! I love their paneer manchurian!

Worst food taste ever I always recommended my friends and family here but today I ordered food via Uber eats. It was very bad experience. When I visited them to talk about food experience they were rude and denying the facts. I even shared the photo of the order. Yes it was you Hakka Palace ! Make sure you serve community with dignity and respect.

They offer Chile chicken for 13+tax+10% service fees for tiny amount and no rice and force you to buy rice for 11. Quality not the best the food came cold. Never again

Worst restaurant

This Hakka place is alright. the chili chicken costed 10+tax which is what it said on the menu, not quite sure why i was charged $12.75. Also the steamed rice sometimes comes in a little cold, as if it s been sitting there for a while. the lady in the cashier needs to be a little more welcoming, every time I ask her about something she makes me feel like i m bothering her. with the right rules and proper marketing this place can go a long way but as it is right now it doesn t seem well. although I love the food the service isn t the best.

They gave me scarps from the bottom of the dish. Worst noodles i ever had. Not one full piece of noodle, all tiny pieces like in the picture. As you can i threw the whole thing in garbage. Waste of my hard earned money

Some of the best chilli chicken and shrimp fried rice I ve had in a very long time!

Their daily menu specials has made this place my go-to spot when Im craving Chinese or Hakka food. I usually get chilli fish (with gravy!) on fried rice or general tao chicken on noodles. Tasty food and they give good portions for the price

Bin coming here for years the old owners were just absolutely amazing. We became lFAMLY was there every Saturday to dine in. Unfortunately the wife passed away and the husband and kids were there to take care of the restaurant and I think they just didn t have it in them anymore and it started to decline so now there s new owners. Food is good but the spice level on spicy dishes is more like EXTRA spicy! I came in order General Tao chicken and Singapore noodles, Got home ready to eat and 1 bite of those noodles immediately in the garbage and Uber eats 2 steamed rice. We can handle handle spice but that was to much not enjoyabl and when was Singapore noodles orange? I spent 28 in store then another 10 threw Uber. Disappointed but can t be happy with every option.

This place is beyond amazing service and hospitality and food is to die for. You all should give it a try and see what I meant. Chef Steve, madam Lilian , Teresa is such pleasant to see them around with their friendly service and smile.

Their chilli chicken with gravy on top of fried rice is a huge value. I often need to break it into two meals to finish. I also love how their dishes arent too salty. Keep it up!

Indian Chinese taste. Try Bombay chicken it s delicious. You should also try fried rice they taste amazing. Manchurian Noodles are not worth trying. Recommended dishes

I m disappointed in the food since it s changed to Hakka Palace from Faileys. I don t expect frozen vegetables you get a grocery store in my fried rice. Use fresh cut vegetables, if you cut corners your customers will go to competitors. Disappointed in quality, I hope they improve. (EDIT) This Restuarant was called Faileys until it was sold and business changed to Hakka Palace which is only couple of years old.

I just ordered this on Uber eats for the first time. This is probably one of the best Hakka I ve ordered. I got the Bombay chicken and chilli chicken on rice, it was so fresh and tasty! Price is also is great for the amount of food you get!!! If anyone has tried famous Faley s in Etobicoke, this taste almost exactly similar to it! Now I m not sure how consistent they are but for the first time ordering I m very impressed! Will be ordering more!

Great place to pick up Hakka food around Thorncliffe area. They have alot of option for lunch specials and the portion will definitely fill you up. I recommend Chilli Chicken Dry and Manchurian Chicken Saucy. For $11.30 lunch you cant go wrong.

Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Location is excellent. Portions are too excellent. But I m giving one star to this because on the bill they charged me service charge without my knowledge. I have never seen that type of charge yet in restaurants and I eat out with my group twice a week (at least). I am an excellent tipper if the service is good. But I did not too well this time having a great service due to this unpleasant and u told charge. Most likely I will not go back here. I think This charge is unfair and unethical. One of the more authentic hakka noodle place in the area. I just enjoyed the food ,- ordered hakka noodles, masala fried rice and paneer Manchurian. All the preparations were very tasty.

It was complete impromptu we visited this place without reviews but it turned out to be excellent. We tried veg tofu Manchurian and veg friend rice and both were good especially Manchurian sauce was too good. Staff was friendly.

I am a regular customer for this place. Their service is really really fast. I love their food. Everything on their menu is great. Bombay fish, Chicken chilli Dry and Kung Pao chicken must try. Their staff is also very good. She recommended many items on my different visits and it never disappoints us. And the price is very affordable. Never disappoint. Parking: Small plaza with many parking and multiple restaurants around.

Ordered the daily special, chilli chicken on rice. They have it advertised for $11.50. They charge $2.50 to upgrade to fried rice, totally not worth it. The fried rice was below average. Also very stingy with the chicken. They charge $1.50 for a can of pop but it was just a little bit colder then room temperature. I wanted to pay with credit card but they charge a additional $1.00. Total cost without using credit card was $17.50. Definitely will not be returning. There a better Hakka places nearby.

Food was excellent, BUT comes quite spicy. If you dont like spicy hot make sure to request mild spice level. Parking: Lots of stores in a strip mall configuration in a relatively small are so parking is limited.

A lovely little place, tucked away in a mini strip mall. The service was very fast and friendly, it was barely 15 minutes from sitting down to eating. I specifically went here to try the hakka chicken curry, which Ive eaten all over the world - this is my favourite. The curry sauce was not only spicy, but rich with great body. Spring rolls were hot and fresh. Crunchy Cantonese chow mein was also very good, with fried noodles. Thoroughly recommended.

Worst Place to Dine in for Families Starting Oct 01, they have started a New Policy of Dine in where in if you go with 5 family members (including kids), you Have to order 5 Dishes or else you will be Charged with $3 per person who has not ordered a meal. Customer service is Pathetic. Only 1 person who is responsible for taking orders, delivering them and doing the cleaning and running here and there resulting in delivery of inaccurate orders. Also, the quality of food for takeout is much worst than dine in. So, if you are looking to dine in here, watch out.

It s okay. General Tao chicken was more like ginger chicken. So many big pieces of gingers and quite soupy rather saucy. Chilli chicken was meh, there are better chilli chicken out there. Tried this place for the first time..found it searching on google maps while visiting that area..the vegetable pakoras was delicious and chutney complemented it..not very impressed with hakka noodles chicken had smell and shrimp needed to be cooked a little more...will definitely try other items next time

For a Business all the customers should be valued equally. Its considered rude if one customer places an order of $100 and you are being more courteous to them than the one who places an order for $20 where you are being rude to them. Thats what this Restaurant does. Very Rude customer service and the policy of every person ordering a Meal for Dine is simply ridiculous. Definitely not a Restaurant for Families.

I love this place. I only Uber it because of location but I would love to visit in person. Chili chicken dry is my favorite. Its so good. I get it hot, and its spicy!! Sweet and sour chicken is also really good. My only complaint is that when you order $50 worth of food, and 3 dishes, 1 soy sauce and 1 hot sauce is cheap. Its not the end of the world as I have my own. It is $14-18/dish, I think thats worth a packet of soy and hot sauce per dish I wont take a star for that, the chili chicken is fire!

The staff is rude .I bought two chicken Manchurian with fried rice yesterday ,and I ask the lady to give me Manchurian chicken separate for which she charge me 75 cent extra just for plastic box ,plus 2 on fried rice that 5 dollars extra.plus Manchurian on rice 11.50 1150 I paid 32 .49 dollar with tax .but the oder to go.What I got only one small box fried rice and other small box plan rice and one box Manchuria chicken . They cheated me for my 32.49 dolar . I live in Brampton ,I went to see my Docter but I will never go to this place . Bad manners and cheater .

Worst hakka place I ve ever been to. The rice was soaked fully with the gravy of the chicken. It was so watery, I didn t even finish half of it. It was such a waste of money. I still gave 3 star so that they improve themselves.

Very spicy food and no other masala only chillies is what I tasted I visited on 17th nov 2023 at 930pm it was take out I ordered 2 Manchurian shrimp noodles , chilli chicken with gravy and crispy beef , all the Manchurian was very spicy no other flavour only chilies and the crispy beef was full of sugar so disappointed

I went to hakka palace to order take out, Unfortunately the lady whl served us was not very happg to accommodate us. We specifically told her to make sure food should be mild but it turned out to be super spicy, and when told to make some changes in the food I was told I was weird. Disappointed with the customer service and food.

The chili chicken (dry) seems to be the most popular (followed by the wet variant). There was a steady stream of customers popping in for takeout for the hour we were there for lunch. 2/3 of our table ordered the chili chicken (dry) and the other 1/3 ordered the chili fish (dry). This restaurant is cash or debit only. Parking: Many free spots in the plaza parking lot.

I got work around that area and visit Hakka Palace frequently. They serve fairly good food for the reasonable price that they offer. Though the spice levels are a bit high you should instruct before hand while placing the order. Infact there is a small note on the wall describing the various spice levels to look out for while ordering. It is rather a warning note:) My favourite is Chilli Shrimps on steamed rice or Chilli fish on steamed rice. If you love spice go for the medium level. I dare not try anything above that. My friends tried few other dishes. Some were good and some of them were not to ones expectations. But overall it is alright if you were to be eating out more often- both price and serve wise. There is free parking around and gets slightly crowded during meal hours. And few more eating places to look out for in the neighbourhood.

Food was not overly expensive for the quality, but I ended up sick to my stomach not once, but twice; a second time eating leftovers, which confirmed it.. Would recommend elsewhere.

One of the best Hakka cuisine restaurant in the GTA. I have been to many others and this place not only served delicious and flavourful dishes but also gave excellent customer service and they made the experience wonderful. Will definitely be going back there for more.

Highly recommend going to this place, family owned and so friendly! Tried the chili chicken, chicken pakora and special fried rice. Came with a family of 4 and very traditional. This place is the epitome of Hakka cuisine. I ve been making and eating Hakka food for over 15 years and this restaurant is the only place to make it as authentic and delicious to my standards. Cute and chic family restaurant with massive portions! My friend and I ordered two combos and split mixed pakora and fish pakora, but couldve fed an extra 2-3 people. Service was quick, TV played a show and all seats are booths, my style of dining. Nice ambience, would definitely come back. Prepare to have leftovers.

Great value for your money here! Comfort hakka style food with fast and friendly service. There is ample of free parking in this area as well. Would highly recommend the crispy beef, chicken pakora and special fried rice. This place is a staple in our take out restaurants.

Staff is very rude, no manners at all, front desk lady was there very disrespectful with their customers. Food was not bad but enviroment was not pleasant at all. I will not recommend anyone to go, I like yo be treated respectfully, compromise less tasty food but high level of customers service and welcoming enviroment.

Terrible experience. Had ordered something that the waiter had recommended and it didn t end up tasting good so we wanted something else, but the chef from the back ended up coming out and yelled at us for ordering something we didn t want and then yelled at the waiter for recommending it infront of us terrible terrible experience.

The quality and portion of food was great but what was even better was the service provided. The lady at the counter is super sweet. She made us all feel welcomed.

Wonderful food

Ordered from this place and they called me to argue regarding an item stating I ve been disruptive with them before (which isn t true). Quite unprofessional as they assumed I was a previous customer and continued to argue with me even when I stated I wasn t the person they believed I was . The call was unprovoked and quite rude. Really disappointed with the customer service wont be ordering with them again. Nobody wants to place an order and receive a phone call UNPROVOKED with someone that s yelling for something I ve never done before. Shame on that person.

One of the best Hakka restaurants in Toronto. I went over there a month ago and I tried out crispy beef, chilli chicken, Bombay chicken and Hakka chow mein - they were all delicious. Ill be back!

This place used to be a very nice restaurant the owner was very nice and respectful the new owner (Tiffany) has a very bad attitude we placed a big order asked for chicken in all our dishes they put shrimp instead and when we called about 17 times finally when she answered she was very rude she said you can come and pick it up tomorrow and I dont live close by when we asked for a credit she started using foul language and started yelling and cursing over the phone which was very shocking never ever I was treated as customer like that anywhere this store is definitely not the same when Flora was there she was very respectful women I would not recommend this for the future to anyone take your business somewhere that respects you and not messup your order and on top of that if you complain starts cursing you and hung up the phone .

Best hakka food in the GTA! Servers were super friendly when we asked for recommendations and the food lived up to their hype! Crispy beef is a personal favourite!

First time trying the place and it wont be my last. The owners are so nice and accommodating. I came with my two kids who were causing a ruckus and Tiffany who works in the front was so patient and kind. The food was out of this world. Flavourful but not too spicy. They have something for just about everyone.

Absolutely love this place! I ve never had Hakka food before and this was just amazing! The food, the price, and the service was great especially since this was my first time. I recommend the chilli chicken and crispy beef, those were sooo good!

We got takeout one night for a big family get together and the food was excellent. The person that took our order was great and super helpful. She made sure to cater to everyone s dietary needs and got everything spot on. We will definitely be coming back regularly!

I ve been going to this restaurant for time now but as of recently the restaurant fell off. As I was eating my food I seen a mouse run into the kitchen. I advised the girl at the front about the situation and she said they had it under control. Ive been told by many other this was the norm at that restaurant . I was digusted and just paid for my food and left. Service is really bad aswell. I wont be returning to this location anymore. They lost a loyal customer. Please avoid this restaurant for your own good.

New owner is extremely rude & inconsiderate of customers. Either hire staff or close this restaurant. Apparently its close relatives of lady who died. What a disgrace. Anyway, food is a bit average & quality is going down because of a single chef cooking everything. I tried the soup but its not extraordinary but rather a mixture of powdered mixed with water. Also, sanitized is not done properly & be ready to be moved during dine in for other customers.

This is one of the best hakka in the city. We always come here whenever we crave for hakka food. Food comes very fast and still tastes amazing. We normally order 3 menus and never able to finish so we take home- another full meal. And our bill is never over $50 including 20% tip.

One of the best Halal Hakka restaurants in Toronto. The food was delicious and exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend others to try it. Some of their best dishes are chicken and shrimp manchurian fried rice and chow mein chicken and shrimps.

Rude staff, could have atleast let the kid use washroom, I understand we were not ordering today, but we are long time customers. Not anymore.

I said 5 times that I need chilli chicken DRY on fried rice. Pick up was fast. I went home and found out it was a chicken chicken GRAVY. I rushed to store ( came back 10 mins after closing time), when they are about to close, the lady taking order argued that I ordered chilli chicken gravy rice. I did not expect to prepare the food for me after the close, but simply acknowledge the misunderstanding. The lady is so very rude. The the owner said he will refund the next working day and I left the food with them. Dear Lady, do you think I do not have any other work? Do you think I go home and come back after 30 mins to cheat you with wrong dish? Pls learn to respect customer. I went back the following Monday(Sunday being closed) and they blamed me for the wrong order. the owner and the chef were so rude and have threatening tone even after I said to check the their restaurant Camera recording. I just have to come back with out food or money. they rudely offered money back and I did not take. The other reason I did not take money back is that they yelled at the same lady who took order saying they will cut that order money from her pay. Keep it up Hakka Palace, you have long way to go with this rude and threatening behaviour. my response after owner s reply to the review: i never took the food or refund after how I was treated. I reiterate that the chef yelled right In front of me that the order money would be cut from her pay. If she is family as per your reply, I don t know how some one can cut pay. I picked food from this restaurant (since before you took over) some 100 times in the past 6 years. Not visiting again. Thanks for your response.

Okay, it was my first time ordering from this place, and let me tell you, it was SOO GOOODD!! We ordered the chicken fried rice and dried chili chicken medium. Those chili chicken were spicy good!! I know we ordered medium, and it was still a bit spicy for us but not too much so we actually still loved it. I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE

The Waitress/Cashier is very rude to the customers and her talking style is very arrogant . It literally ruins the experience of dining. This used to be my favorite Hakkah place , but not any more . They have also put out a disclaimer saying everything is final and no returns regardless how the food tastes

Ive been there many times and have ordered online several times as well but today when i went there the server was being too rude and called herself the owner of the place but i dont think she deserves to own any customer oriented place. She asked me What are you doing as i entered the place and gave me a look as if im there to eat for free and create a scene. I was still normal and sat on a table to dine in. Before ordering i just checked with her if what she said was okay and she totally agrees and says yes. The worst customer service ive ever experienced.

The best Hakka ever I liked, generally I dont like Hakka however once a month I have to take it because of my wife and my sister like Hakka. This time I tried Hakka Palace at Thorncliffe and it is the best. We took fried rice (6 out of 10), chilly chicken (8 out 10), Manchurian soup and Manchurian Fish ( 8 out of 10). Space was perfect, server has enough knowledge to guide you. Customer service was wonderful. I will come back again.

The lady at the reception is very hospitable and nice, unlike hakka garden at TPD west Taste is good. Would Definitely comeback. Vegetarian options: The Vegetable fried rice is really good, it comes with and without egg

Get the mixed pakoras, they come with a delicious spicy coriander sauce that I couldnt get enough of. The Bombay chicken is quite good but the heat from chilies do pack a punch the next day! Note this place doesnt take credit card (when I was there Oct 2022) so make sure you have cash or a debit card.

I have been going here for many, many years. The old management and we were quite good friends. Even with the quality of food going down we still continued to go, because this used to be a good place.Today one of the waiters named TIFFNEY was extremely rude to my 2 year old daughter and me to an extend that we had to leave. Worst people.

So I ordered the chili chicken thinking it was going to be the same like everywhere else there was barely any chicken a lot of onions and peppers plus I paid extra for meat I literally took a bite of it and it was super spicy way spicier than any chili chicken Ive ever had I came back to the restaurant to let the person know that I cannot eat this its way too spicy she refused to open the bag to even check the food she said this is how it is all the time. never again I will come back to a place like this poor customer service

I have been eating at Hakka Palace : Faley s for about 2 decades. Food is always tasty and staff is friendly. RIP Flora. The business is a perfect example of a community staple.

Hakka noodles very average. Nothing Hakka about it. Chilli garlic chicken had no garlic flavour and had no gravy. Hot and sour soup was very watery and way too spicy. Would not order from here again.

There is one girl i dont know her name she is so rude. I ordered soup with chili chicken. She didnt gave me fork, spoon, hot sauce, not even tissues. Such a garbage service she provide. I asked not to put shrimp and later my soup had shrimp!!

This was my first time trying Hakka Place and the environment was very nice and very clean. Also, the staff there was amazing and friendly including the chef. The chef there makes amazing delicious food. I have ordered mix pakora, Thai lemon soup, chilli chicken gravy and Special fried rice. Everything was super delicious specially the pakora. But the rest of the food was very tasty and delicious. I will rate this place 5/5. I have tried other Hakka before but not that yummy. Would like to recommend to everyone please do try.

Best Hakka in the area - always freshly made

Ordered the chilli chicken, turns out, its literally just chilli like the spices red chilli and green chillies only because its flavorless, bland and just spicy and not at all flavorful. Honestly, I try many Chinese places and this has got to be on the bad side of restaurants that Id rather not prefer.
