Ritz Caribbean Foods was started in October 1999 by CEO Richard Moore, who says it took a lot of hard work and perseverance, along with a few sacrifices that had to be made in order to become successful with his first Jamaican Restaurant in Toronto. The first restaurant was opened at Yonge and Bloor, and although the name wasn't well known at the time, those who discovered the restaurant loved the food and kept coming back for more. Although this Jamaican restaurant serves Caribbean food, it is well known to all different races and age groups. We are now franchising, for more information about franchising please contact us.
Stew chicken is actually fried chicken dipped in gravy. Had I known, I would have ordered fried chicken. The coleslaw I threw out immediately as it smelled rancid.
Ritz Caribbean has been a staple at our holiday potluck for many years! The jerk chicken is outstanding! And the service from Ryan and everyone at Ritz is always top notch!
The Ritz always has great food with authentic Jamaican flair. Whether you order online or go in person. It’s a great substitute for when you don’t cook but want home cooking!
Lady in the front in rude.. no customer service ( not surprised) gentleman in the back the food is so nice and friendly he should also be cashing people out . Unfortunately I won't go back. I asked for pepper sauce ( not in a container just out of the bottle) she told me it is a dollar extra when I rolled my eyes she the just put in on my food. She put I whole blob on pepper on my coleslaw. Make it Make sense please. 3 stars is only for the rasta in the back
Service -1 Food -1 This place is only good if you’re starving. The rice is undercooked and hard/dry. Coleslaw is even worse. No flavour and dry. I always say if the coleslaw is good, the food is good. That’s definitely not the case with this place. There are so many other good places to eat, avoid this one.
The cook is very nice, down to earth guy, he will accommodate you of your preference
Ordered jerk chicken combo. Food:0/10 It was tasteless, overcooked , salty and old Customer service:0/10 Staff wouldn’t even look at me while taking orders, I got neglected the whole time. Staff looked annoyed. Price: 2/10. Very much overpriced for a jerk chicken meal. Can find better deal at almost anywhere in the city. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Great food, excellent cooking. Great prices. Warning make sure you're accustomed to spicy food. If you like curried goat or jerk chicken this place is hard to beat. This location is wheelchair accessible, friendly atmosphere bathrooms were clean. For those who want a spicy dinner this is a great place to try out. I love their ox tail.
Overall great lunch spot. One of the few spots that offers a real lunch special under $10. I got a jerk chicken with rice and peas with oxtail gravy on top. I gave that a 4.5/5. There coleslaw was amazing. I gave that a 5/5 and as a treat I got a dumpling which I give a 4/5. Go check it out because you will Not be disappointed!
Delicious
Amazing food I highly recommend this place for authentic Caribbean food
Staff needs to do better seriously. A simple hello is appreciated but I was completely ignored even after seeing me enter through the front door . I understand if the place was busy but it wasn t . Highly disappointed.
Very nice gentleman cooking the food i met him today! Food 10/10
this food is complete garbage, the coleslaw is literally EXPIRED please do NOT come here for any types of jamaican food
Use to be a great place! Now the staff won t help you look at you or even say hello! Food has gone wayyyyy down hill tastes like it been there a week! Sad to say I won t return
Order a beef soup and it arrived spoiled. Tasted like it was cooked weeks ago also have a bad smell to it. Never again
They often get my order wrong (missing items, wrong size ordered etc) so its kind of a pain to deal with that, but the food is immaculate. Easily the best jerk chicken Ive had in the world, and probably my favorite chicken dish period. I think their jerk chicken is slow cooked in the gravy overnight and all day as it just slides off the bone like butter. It also has a distinct sweetness to the sauce that I love, that isnt present on other jerk chicken Ive had. Literally one of the best meals you can have in Toronto, I just wish they were more careful with double checking the orders - you can see from all the comments that they do have operational issues, but the food makes up for it. Have to give it a 5 still just for the food quality alone. I come up from NY and it blows me away every time I have Ritzs and I have been going since they had 2 locations on Yonge Street. Its a mandatory dish for me when I visit.
Hit or miss. When its a hit, the food is absolutely delicious!! Miss is usually with service and less to do with food. I find that depending on the location, the food/service fluctuates in quality. I really like their coleslaw and festival (if fresh).
I wish I could give a Zero. I just tried it again, as I wanted Caribbean food and I had a coupon with Uber, so I thought I would give them another chance. This time I got the Stew Chicken. Well, it was disgusting!! They must have ran out of regular chicken so they decided to use Fried Chicken and just dipped it in sauce. I am not able to eat flour or fried food due to a medical issue. My son tried it and 90% of the piece of chicken was the batter. Please don t eat here if you are craving Caribbean. The sauce wasn t anything like Stew Chicken flavour. It was so bad. Previous order: Today I got my son a large stew beef. First off the container was half full. For paying $15.00 I would like to have a full container. What happened next was worse though. My son is eating his food when he sends me a picture of something he spit out. His stew beef had a sticker or label in his food. Looks like a label from a jar or something. This is disgusting and I wonder what else could be in the food. Did a jar break or something? I tried calling to complain but got no answer after several calls.
Refused to serve me despite having proper payment as advertised on door. I guess because im white . Was rude and didnt apologize customer service dosnt exist here. I guess thats why it had 2low ratings . Should have looked at the reviews before i went . Store wad very dirty. Food appeared to be old and stale .
Excellent service and food. The staff were extremely friendly and polite. Highly recommend if you are looking for an authentic Jamaican meal.
Curry chicken was blesssss
If I would give less than one star I WOULD. because I ordered a stew chicken and it looked like it just got warmed in the microwave . The rice was clumped and mushed . Now on to the gravy it wasn t giving Caribbean it was giving more wannabe Jamaican. Brotha UUGGHHHHHH . NEVER AGAIN
Absolutely disgusting. I ordered fried chicken and got chicken that was tough as obsidian and dry like the Sahara. It was so bony that every bite was filled with bones. The cole slaw was watery and bland. The rice and pease was clumpy as of its was microwaved, it was also burnt. Its like it was packaged overnight, put in the fridge, microwaved and sent out to the customer. Overall 1/10 do not recommend.
Love love love the soup amd dumplings. Perfect amlut of spice and goodness.
The oxtail gravy that they put on my rice had a fish taste to it that was awful. I ordered the large jerk and was Givin 3 little pieces and a whole lotta rice. Its sad what the Ritz has come down to. I remember it being awesome on yonge and queen.
The jerk chicken is the best Ive had so far in Toronto. Its consistently tasty and all around great. I agreen with other reviews that some parts given are bony but not all are ... I usually get 3 large pieces, 2 of which have a healthy amount of meat on them. As for service, who are we to judge? I agree some more pleasantries would be nice, but running a small business today is so tough not to mention all the other societal issues we face today. I definitely recommend this place.
I ordered 2 large bbq chicken with rice and peas , I only received 2 small chicken and it s all bones . I ordered from them so many times, I need compensations . I paid $17.00 each for the food , it s like a snack size portion . I don t mind paying more these days but please keep your quality . Fail !
I inteded to suprise my partner with a caribbean dinner. The worst online order/delivery ever.. I place an order through uber eats at 8:20 pm, the restaurant supose to be open until 2:00 am. After almost 40 mins my order was cancelled without reason.. Uber eats just said the restsurant was not taking any orders...horrible way to treat clients. I lost time and I ended up eating a pizza. The prices were higher and the options limited, I was hopping the food quality compensated these things...Now I will never know...I will never order from or eat on this restaurant ever again..I recommend nobody shoud take that risk. A very unsatisfied client...
Fantastic jerk chicken
Seems as though you bother the staff if you come in to order. I asked if the large jerk chicken ($15.99) would feed two people. The woman at the cash sounded like she grunted yeah , so I ordered it for me and my partner. Definitely not enough for two people. Flavour of the jerk was nice, but the 4 small pieces were mostly bones. Rice and peas comes with a curry sauce. Also, expect to be charged extra if you pay by credit card.
I haven t dreamed in years. This food was so good it knocked me out and gave me a dream so vivid I woke up convinced I d seen the entire first episode of the second season of a tv show that didn t exist. I even watched a season 1 recap. Season two had Patrick Wilson as a series lead. Ritz has the best hours too, I work evening so having a place that s open late - every day - it s like I m dreaming while awake.
I had a great experience. This restaurant was clean and well kept. The customer service was great, I was greeted upon entering and everything on the menu was available. And that s a plus if you know caribbean restaurants . The food tasted fresh and sooo good. Thank you for your excellent service.
Some of the best jerk chicken Ive had in Toronto. Highly reccomend this place. Staff is super friendly too!
I have went here a few times with my boyfriend he typically gets the same thing which has been different everytime he went , the elder lady seems very rude and doesn t wanna work there to my opinion , over all the goat is excellent but the stew chicken my bf got he couldn t tell what type of meat it was
Love the food
The guy who works there is rude and ignorant!, I stood there for good 5 minutes and I called in then he yelled at me to remind me that he is working in the kitchen and I shouldnt be calling him. Finally I got bare bone and smelly rice!
this place and the owner is a liar and should be charged for selling food on false information
Best jerk chicken in the city.
Were outside and you guys are closed??? Your hours say your open, how disappointing!!!
Tasty half oxtail and half chicken.
You guys gotta do better ,after coming home home thinking I m gonna have A nice dinner only to find the jerk chicken was full of bones and stale as if it been reheated for days,do better.
Not tasty at all! I do t know what happen to these Ritz Carribean foods restaurants! :(
I truly want to support but when I order Akee and salt fish and I have to spend half of my day on the toilet sweating profusely is a bit much. The plantain was so hard I could actually gun-but someone with it. Ritz your food is representing Jamaica do better.
The rice and peas tasted like it was made 2 days prior, if not yesterday...(whatever day it is minus2), 2nd the coleslaw tasted like pudding and lettuce, 3rd the gravy was tasteless, for the price paid for 2 meals and plantain that wasnt ripe, I wanted plantain...not plain-tan-deh nyam nyam and yuh jus a chew to no taste till u spit out bcuz a dry unripe plaintin....kmbbrct (kissmibumblebeehivenest teeth) RITZ DO BETTA!!!!! COME ON NOW!!!!
So you know how they cut those school lunch pizza slices so thin and small? Imagine that but with chicken. The absolute smallest most des pieces of chicken you can get. And ya the rice is usually stale. Employees aren t that friendly either. Probably the worst ritz location out there. What do you expect for the east end of the danny.
Tried this spot for the first time today, we missed Cool Runnings so its nice to have another good Carribbean spot in the neighbourhood! Parking: Free parking Wheelchair accessibility: No steps
I havent been here for a year cause of the terrible food they gave, but today I decided to give it a another shot. I dont know what they did, damn that some great food.. I had it on 2 stars before ,now its all 5 stars . Amazing food!!
Two people working , one cook another the cashier, service was very very slow. The food was nothing more than ok, and after the long wait the cashier had the nerve to charge me $1 for a thimbleful of hot sauce. There are so many Caribbean restaurants in Toronto, I won t be going back to this.
The curry goat from Ritz is soooo flavorful. Lots of bones but the punch of flavor makes it worth it!
So glad I tried this place! Awesome job Ritz!
Dirty place, super rude.
Quality and quantity of food has declined. Went in today and ordered a lunch special, 1 roti and some ackee and saltfish. These meals were heavy on the filler (rice, ackee, potatoes and carrots) and light on the meat. I dont remember it being this way in the past. For what I paid, the value was not there. Although the food was good, I dont think Ill be returning anytime soon.
Some of the best chicken roti in town! Actually, everything here is pretty damn tasty!!
Food packaging found in my Roti! This was a horrible experience. The only veg option was dry and lacked flavour. I also, and more importantly, found a produce sticker inside my roti. When I went to ask for a refund, because this is absolutely disgusting, the staff said I could get another roti instead. When I informed them of the complete health violation they were condescending and said that food inspectors would not care because there was no wire in the packaging. Terrible customer service, do not eat here (unless you like garbage in your food).
I had the bbq chicken, rice&peas, coleslaw something I would normally have at an authentic jamaican food restaurant, this place has gone down hill for me, or maybe they just thought because of the way I looked that day they thought they would give me whatever. Anyhoots I asked for oxtail gravy they gave me some kind of water downed ketchup with no flavor I was totally disappointed to the point I could not eat the food, I did go back and asked what happened to the gravy and he said they had no more and that it was the juice from the chicken. I gave the man a look and said, Really?!?!? And then he offered me some stew beef gravy and I said ok, so when I tried it thats when I decided thats enough. No more wasting my time. I just tossed everything, I used to eat at Ritz from the time it was at yonge and bloor, and I loved it. Sometimes, its the staff that stop caring about what they are serving the people. What they need to do is ask themselves, Would you eat it??? I wont be returning here, that for sure.
Placed order on Uber Eats and Ritz canceled my entire order because they didn t have the flavour of drink that I wanted. Then I reordered on Uber eats and said NO GRAVY and sure enough it was covered in gravy. Called the restaurant and the initial response was the equivalent to a so . NEVER ordering from Ritz on Danforth again. Dietary restrictions: No gravy
Very upset about this. I paid $15 for a stew chicken. THIS IS NOT STEW CHICKEN. This is fried chicken that they have dipped in gravy. Maybe they didnt think I would notice BUT I DID. NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL AND WILL NEVER GO BACK
Ive tried to be supportive, but the quality of the food and service is irredeemably bad. If you know Caribbean food in general or Jamaican food specifically, you wont get it here! Sour fish cakes, dried fried dumplings, burned gravy and overcooked white rice...HOW?!!!
I m giving this place a 5 star review bc the food is 5 star. My only reservation would be the cx service.
We moved to the east coast last year, but Ive been back twice since. This location is usually the last stop out of town, when homeward bound. The staff is always well-mannered, the atmosphere is laid back and the food is delicious. Ill ALWAYS be back when Im in town, buying my 2 large jerk chicken meals: one for the road, and one to share when I get home. Parking: Plenty of space to park. Every time.
Visited for the first time and i have to say thr food at this location was amazing. Ryan was very helpfull and the food was fresh and quick. I would highly recommend this spot if you havent been and love authentic jamaican food!
I waited for 10 minutes and nobody showed up even though the store was open. The janitor said the chef was taking a nap.
Best goat curry on Vic Park and Danforth. Scarborough!
Good food would recommend for authentic Jamaican food
I really love the food. It s the only carribean store standing amongst all the mixed cultures in the neighborhood . The food satisfies my tastebuds and keeps me close to my home roots since I don t cook. It s great I can grab meals late as well, because I work late, the hours work really well for me. Great menu and beautiful overall seating area to come in and dine with family and friends. It s always a vibe. Toast to the chefs. Parking: There s always parking, it s a big parking lot!
This is the third time in a month Ive ordered from Ritz, never less than $70 only to have to wait an hour and a half, sometimes more, only to receive a notification from Uber, 10 minutes before the estimated delivery time, saying your order has been cancelled by the store. People, not only are you representing Jamaican Caribbean cuisine and our community but imagine after working a 12 hours shift exhausted and famished waiting for some home cooked food for this kind of unprofessional situation to keep happening. Its is not cool or funny to know that your poor attitude and carelessness will not be going unnoticed by valued customers. Our commity must take a stand and simply order from a Chinese restaurant you will sure to get your orders.
I recently had the unfortunate experience of ordering from Ritz Caribbean, and I must say, it was an absolute disappointment. I ordered their jerk chicken rice and peas meal, specifically requesting extra coleslaw to accompany my dish. However, not only did I not receive any coleslaw, but I also had to paid $25 for the privilege of being served a meal with out the coleslaw I paid extra for. It is basic customer service to fulfill a customers specific request, especially when they are willing to pay an additional fee. The fact that the coleslaw was missing from my order displays a blatant disregard for attention to detail and a lack of respect for the customer. While the flavour of the jerk chicken was pretty good, it was simply not enough to compensate for the quantity of meat and the surplus of bones. A good taste can only go so far when the main ingredient is severely lacking. Overall, if youre looking for a satisfying jerk chicken meal, I strongly advise looking elsewhere. Ritz Caribbeans offering simply doesnt measure up in terms of quality, quantity, and overall value for money. Save yourself the disappointment and explore other dining options that prioritize the satisfaction of their customers. Ritz Caribbean was a complete letdown. From the failure to deliver on a simple request to the pricing and subpar quality of the meal, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. Save your hard-earned money and seek out a more authentic and customer-centric establishment for your Caribbean culinary cravings.
The food slappppps
Every time we go, the food is delicious. We often order ahead, seeing as sometimes around lunch or dinner the lineup can get big.
Great food, very clean place.
The jerk chicken is okay. Fried dumpling is a crime. I made the mistake of ordering ackee and saltfish, food is not edible. I had to throw it in the trash. Ackee and saltfish comes with onions and bits of ackee and saltfish. By far the worst
I love Caribbean food and love supporting Caribbean restaurants. But at Ritz my first impressions the customer service was not friendly. The tables were not clean and sanitized. The food was not fresh, tasted like it was cooked a few days before. Rice and peas had clamps. Sorry that was my $41.00 experience at Ritz.
Had the large jerk chicken dinner - great value and flavour. Ill be back.
Man I wanted a Rott. Everything seemed closed on Sunday. Discovered this place ( not on Google maps) by accident. So give a try. Wow ... exactly what I was looking for. Goat rotti. So good I took a chicken one home for dinner. Best comfort food ever.
The food here is the best especially the goat curry i would go here everyday
Found a hair in my food and never going back there
Customer service is horrible.
Food tasted good but I paid for jerk chicken and basically got lots of bone. Other places serve thigh with a small bone but here it s like a bone every bite and no meat. I also paid FIVE dollars plus tax for an extra coleslaw and this is what I got (see photo) I love this place but their quality and portions seems to be declining.
I had roti with curry chicken. I didn t like the taste and the portion is very small. I saw few pieces of chicken and potatoes and one piece of carrot. The price is very high for the quantity and quality. I always buy from Scotty bons and their food taste better. Yesterday I was little lazy to drive there and choose this place. I will not buy food from here anymore. I strongly recommend Scotty bons located at warden ave and Eglinton.
I ve noticed other reviews say their chicken smelled off. If wasn t for these other experiences, I would ve been confused about my fried chicken. Went in this week. The girl cashing and the guy cooking were pleasant but the fried chicken had a small smell of old house . You know when you go to some old houses and it has a certain weird smell? It wasn t funky or rotten smelling but just had that smell to it. Maybe what it s kept in, has a funny smell. The chicken seems like it would be tasty if cooked fresh. Rice and peas was decent/good. Coleslaw had no dressing and was just dry. In no rush to return. Nothing special.
When I came in it was maybe 6:45, they were out of most food. Told I was getting rice and peas, only got rice. How are pieces of beef and rice $14?
Chicken roti just OK. A little dry. Have to order gravy as an extra for $1.50 which comes in a very small portion. Nothing special about the curry chicken filling. Pretty sure the beef patties are just the frozen ones you get in the grocery store?
I ordered Oxtail and they gave me jerk chicken. Lost $4, which Uber Eats wont refund. Avoid. Careless employees.
Was not impressed. Jerk chicken was very dry and didnt even taste like jerk chicken to be honest. I feel like the chicken was old maybe from a day ago. Rice was wet and sticky and the salad smh the salad was a little bit of chopped lettuce drowning in an italian sauce. I will not be going back here again.
The worst restaurant in the world do not order from there the food is terrible you get the most smallest portion and the prices be so high for no reason every time I order on Uber Eats they take my money and then say that the food is sold out why not just put on the menu already that its sold out instead of making me order the food and then messaging me saying that its sold out the worst restaurant in the world you dont even get your moneys worth because the food is not even that good dont come to this restaurant terrible not good at all
Bad portion. Bad customer service . Food was okay
Always awesome
Brand new restaurant Amazing food amazing hours Always a go to lunch Great chefs and location
The bearded doesnt have a etiquette. Behaves pretty bad. The restaurant is gonna go down if he is going to be working there
THIS PLACE NEEDS TO CLOSE DOWN THE FOOD OLD AND DISGUSTING..THEY KEEP FOOD FOR MANY DAYS AND SELLING FOR CUSTOMERS.
We ordered oxtail and goat dinners and a soup. The meat was so tender you barely had to chew it. Rice and peas were moist. Soup was chicken, dumpling, potato, carrot and seasoned with a nice little kick of pepper. Everything was nice and piping hot. Service was courteous and prompt. Price was also right. Cant think of any way anything could have been improved. We will keep coming back, every chance we get.
One of the best Caribbean chicken rotis Ive had in Toronto. The gravy was fabulously spiced. Special. And a very friendly place.
This place has been going downhill for a while. I only went a few times a each year but its gotten so bad that its not worth the trip anymore. The food has always been mediocre at best. The food isnt fresh - theyre often reheating things in the microwave. Its the kinda place you pop over late evening when you have a craving and all the other decent Carribean places in the area are closed. The service is subpar. You do the best you can to make sure they take down your order correctly. I ordered 2 roti, one chicken and the other goat. One container was even labeled goat but turns out they were both chicken. This wasnt the only time they messed up my order. Stay away.
Ordered oxtail large. Got same amount as small. And the food was trash! Ordered 2 drinks and got absolutely different one!
I just threw away $52 on 3 meals that I thought were terrible. The best of the three was the Oxtail full of fat...jerk chicken is topped with seasoning not marinade. And I guess if you go late the stew chicken is old. The staff seem nice enough but I wish I could get my money back. Sooooo disappointed.
I had the chicken soup today and I feel complete. It was perfect. Thank you.
I was happy when Ritz opened in my area but I went here 4 days old I got a hair in my jerk chicken never going here again .
Messed up my order again. Check your food before you go. I ordered the Jerk chicken and oxtail combo and paid the extra no jerk chicken Update: Decided to try this one last time, and they served me this dry and what I suspect to be, day(S) old chicken. Unfortunately, this strip of the Danforth is lacking options, but you ll find great options at Queen and Coxwell and on Pape Ave. Do better Ritz Danforth, do better. I ll never know.
Lovely restaurant with good customer services. It was my first time there and I wanted to try the rice & peas with curry chicken and it was so delicious. I will come back for sure.
Absolutely rude! New girl in the front deserves to be fired , starts packing my order and before she even put in the bag I told her it was eat in , turns around with the nastiest look on her face and tells I should ve told her . What difference does it make the packaging is the same for eat in or take out .
Paid $20 for this Ackee and Saltfish dinner. Opening my box I saw I had been completely ripped off as there was only (not exaggerating at all) one single piece of saltfish no bigger than an inch in diameter in my box. See the photo attached. I felt completely taken advantage of and will never come back here again.
Amazing food, better staff. Highly recommend the Jerk Chicken
all good ;)
best food in Canada!
Great food, best Jerk Chicken in town
Great fish, better Jerk Chicken. I highly recommend the Ackee
The food was amazing and great service. Parking: Super service and parking Food : 5/5 |
Great tasting jerk chicken. Very juicy and fresh!!
great food would come again!
The food is great. Best place to relax & enjoy with the fam & friends.
Good lunch specials bit not really worth it with better caribbean places down the street (in both directions). Also it costs $10 for large coleslaw. My mistake for just ordering coleslaw but come on lol.
The food is not fresh at this location. I went there once last year and I remember buying fresh food but it seems like the food they are serving now is not fresh. The bbq chicken was stale and dry and the person ignored my request when I asked for hot sauce and it s not the first time. I will never go back there!!!!!!
I ordered a large chicken soup and I am sure this soup was reheated over and over again all week . It was full of potatoes and had very little chicken. The dumplings (although I asked for none) were tough and tasteless. Not a good soup.
I would not reccomend ordering anything from this place that are meals, maybe finger food items and I have noticed it depends on the cook. I ordered a bbq chicken meal, the rice was fresh but the meat was not , there was a pungent smell from the bbq chicken. That I could not even finish the meal, I was that repulsed and threw it out so definitely they are not using fresh food and possibly is re heated and re used for days, order to your own discretion. Not authentic carribean meals can find better fresh and flavorful food other nearby restaurants.
Food is always great.. service could be a little faster. But its always worth the wait.
To be honest- gravely disappointed- and I mean grave !!! I threw out my food right by the trash can outside the restaurant. I drove 30 mins on a Sunday to this location. Not sure what happened that day ?? I ve always loved eating at various Ritz locations. No problem. I ordered the fry chicken with rice and peas. The chicken was not good and the rice was off. However, I haven t written them off - I would just go to another location.
They changed the rice.. dont know why but they use basmati rice now. Doesnt taste good with this type of cuisine.
No respect for customers.
Good food
I came here a few months back, got an ackee and sailfish and it gave me food poisoning, and I am certain of this since I fell ill not too long after eating it an it was my first meal of the day. I then got sick a month later from fried chicken from here. A few weeks ago I got soup from here and it was stale as it had a white film on top which I recognize from when the soup I cook at home is stale. I went back and ordered soup again and informed the chef of my former experience and instead of apologizing or giving compensation he was very rude and hostile I immediately left the store. TERRIBLE FOOD AND SERVICE.
Beef patties are absolute trash just save your money disgusting. Oxtail was underwhelming it was tiny portions and considering the price recipe is watered down, the beef Roti was terrible and the jerk chicken was really good. Would have given 2 stars instead of one if they didn t screw up the beverage. Got mango+carrot instead of the ordered mango. No way I d come here again.
This restaurant used to be good when they first opened. I came to pick up food and these people take forever to come to the counter. Terrible service will never go back also some of my friends stopped buying from here. I will pay extra $$ at the other restaurant #CoolRunnings.
Food is really good but they are super slow be ready to wait 15 mins. Or more without anyone in front of you
Hey chef your food is really amazing. Thank you. My kids and family loved it.
I ordered on Uber. Meal is disgusting.Fried chicken is STALE. IT SMELLS BAD AND TASTES WORSE. UTTERLY OVERPRICED MEAL .COULDNT EAT IT.NEVER AGAIN.
The food was fast and fresh. Very moist chicken with portions that was filling. Very good!
We had the Jerk Chicken. It is LEGIT! Do it. DOOO IT.
Enjoyed coming to this venue, however, tonight was such a huge disappointment. The person behind the kitchen was using his BARE hands with NO gloves to scoop out the rice and peas from the big pot it was cooked from to put in the serving tray to feed and sell to customers. It was utterly disgusting, not to mention unsanitary!!! Then on top of it he dragged the garbage bin with the same hands he scooped out the rice and peas he was putting in the container.
Great lunch deals
Great... if youre inexperienced with Caribbean food.
Amazing food and service! Chef Avery is talented and his food is well seasoned and so tasty! Ill be back for sure!
The quantity is pretty small
This is the worst Ritz ever they never have stew beef and depending on what cook is working the good taste different each time terrible most times the curry chicken is bland no real flavour and definitely isnt traditional Caribbean tasting The manager needs to hire proper cooks who take real pride in there work
The food is good but the service is not and it is too expensive for what youre getting. Sometimes when I ask for a patty they always say they dont have it. They have been saying that since this location has been open. There are way better options in the area. Steer clear out of here!!
Very clean place to eat. Food is tasty, but expensive. Lunch special is cheap, but small.
Good food
Food not fresh
Love it ..great food options ..love the bbq chicken .Yummy
Who needs to go to the Caribbean when we can stay here and taste it. Absolutely delicious
Restaurant employees/owner are unsanitary. Uses ungloves hands to handle food. I made the purchase but sis not eat the food after viewing such unsanitary practice. They talk over the food without any maks on. Did they forget that there is currently a pandemic. Will never eat there again
Absolutely FANTASTIC cooking! Delicious every single time, weve been enjoying Ritzs dishes for years and will keep coming back for more. If you love top-drawer Caribbean, absolutely visit or order take-out from Ritz. Would give six stars if I could!
Love this place! The food is tasty the service is good. Enjoy!
Amazing Caribbean food!
Why social distance when the servers have masks with their noses exposed pointing down at my food order. Hope I dont die because of this restaurant
Ordered the the curry chicken boneless on a roti, took it home, full of bones, how are you supposed to eat a meal with bones stuffed in a roti?
Great customer service. Very open space and clean environment. Mask are required.their food is great but the one thing I didnt like was my fried chicken fried in canola oil. I felt it through the taste off. Overall their prices are reasonable.
Not impressed with this location. The portion is small compared to the two locations on Yonge. Its also 6.99 which is more expensive. Two little pieces of chicken and most of it is bone. Maybe it wasnt a good day but, overall I dont recommend this location.
Just recently walked in to get their $6 lunch special. Was dramatically disappointed to find they were out of coleslaw... that has to be a first for me when going to a jerk chicken spot; they did have salad as a replacement side which was good... but still I was disappointed. Other than that, solid jerk chicken, rice and peas (I wasnt too happy about the chicken pieces but I was given a decent amount of pieces). Food tasted good and service was friendly.
Ubereats experience is the worst my food was AWFUL!
Tried the chickpea roti and it is so good!! Definitely will order from here again.
Terrible experience every time I ve been there...it s a typical mi nuh ave that spot, waited about 20 mins for my food then the chicken was all bone and the rice was either over or under cooked cause it was extremely hard. Never going back to that location smh. Much better spot Simms at Dawes and .
Food is good no complaints, but service is incredibly slow.
Great tastes and quality. Menu and store hours a bit confusing. Like I had to buy a large sized in order to mix. Also sometimes they will be closed at random times on any business day. I spoke with the manager tho and communication was good, he let me know the pandemic had a impact on the business.
Excellent place to get some Caribbean food.
Caribbean food that never has curry chicken at dinner time theyre only open for lunch and dinner
Love it here.. but could have more coco bread.. never seem to have it
Food was great and fast friendly service
Love the food.
Ordered a beef patty and they gave me a pop. However the menu showed it was available. Abominable experience ever.
great!
Pretty tasty food at this location
Nothing special
second time I ate a roti an I gave me belly work both times , yall need to do better than that.
Waited for 38 minutes for my food; they called my order number but I didnt hear it. Then they misduplicated my salad order, gave me coleslaw instead of the garden salad I specifically requested. By the time I began to eat my food it was already cooling down, while I became boiling mad. Worst fast food experience ever!
Great food. Spacious. Kind staff.
Loved the service and The Rotis were delicious
This location gives Ritz a bad name. If this is the first time you are trying it. Give it a second go at one of there other locations. This is my 3rd attempt at this location (its a 5 minute walk from my house). Never again my rive and pea was cold, so was the Ox tail gravy, and the Jerk chicken was luke warm. Get rid of this location before they ruin the name.
Great ffod
Never been to this place.
Awesome foods
Nice food. Clean restaurant
Best place for rotties...delicious
Good in a pinch but they always seem to be out of something thats on the menu. And not obscure specials either but, Carribean staples such as curry chicken or plantain.
Love the food! Terrific service!
Typical Caribbean fare. Decent portions and nice staff. But as quite a few other reviews say, Food is a little more fast food and less flavors than many of the smaller home cooked choices in the area. Ok.
Good place to take out. Alittle dark in the dining area.
Really nice food. Friendly staff and very clean establishment. Very well ran and food was prompt and served hot!
Not too shabby.
The food is NOT fresh. Stopped by today at noon for lunch, thought everything would be fresh because they open at 11, boy was I wrong. The plantains were easily 3 days old and the rice was extremely stale. They probably use left overs from previous night and didnt have any coleslaw. Save your money and go to Simms.
Bigup Nyam Nyam now thats real Jamaican food, came & got food again bcuz my father wanted fish imagine the nerve they are charging $18 for a small fish dinner with a small portion of rice & lots of gravy to mask the dry small fish KMR
Its the first time that Ive been to this restaurant, and I must say that the food is very tasty, and you get your moneys worth. I bought a small take out dinner consist of Jerk Chicken, Peas and Rice with a fresh Garden Salad; very delicious! I shall visit very soon again.
Awesome
I didnt even want to give one star this place is not the same price on board dont mach what they charge you and and very little food for the piece use to eat there all the time I wont be eating there anymore sorry
tried to order online but they only had 2 items available.
Sometimes they get it right, but most of the time it s wrong.. All wrong. Or they ran out.
