310 Donlands Ave, East York, ON M4J 3R9, Canada
A cozy, family-owned diner that specializes in Filipino and Canadian breakfast and lunch located in East York, Toronto.
Nice place, we try Filipino breakfast and bacon and egg breakfast, love the fish.
This is a fantastic old school spot with Filipino/Canadian dishes! I enjoy the atmosphere, friendly owners and the food! Enjoying food is a family characteristic. 😉 My go to order is the Sinigang, a Filipino soup with ribs. Highly recommend!
A simple, yet unbelievably comforting and tasty meal, featuring a touch of mama's love in this pork and chicken adobo with rice and veggies. The chicken was seared perfectly for a slightly charred skin and juicy interior, just as the pork ribs were fork tender and fall apart in your mouth. The veggies are steamed simply and highlights their natural sweetness, and the rice is moist. Everything is covered in a tangy, sweet and slightly smoky adobo sauce that I couldn't get enough of, but thankfully they were generous with the rice.
I stopped in here today and was instantly charmed by the atmosphere and staff. I didn’t have enough time to try their food but later that day, I found out that other family members have and they loved it. Turns out, the staff gave my father trouble (playfully, mind you) for not eating all his vegetables and that’s a 10/10 in my books. Thank you for looking out for him. I can’t wait to stop in for lunch! Thank you so much for a great experience.
Come visit this gem! Authentic Filipino food and also American style breakfast and lunch. Limited seating but very cool (old diner) atmosphere inside. There is side street parking. Largest booth can accommodate maybe 4-5 people but the food prices and authenticity are great. This place is family owned and run and has been there for over 20+ years. Cash and debit only!
It’s our favourite Filipino breakfast spot! It is family run, so the same lady works the front every time you go. We love the adobo and the fried Shanghai, must haves! The lamb shank is one of our faves too. The Karekare, menudo, classic Filipino breakfast- there is absolutely nothing to fault, it’s all fire! The food is great, the space transports you to a nostalgic diner vibe. Highly recommend this local treasure to anyone who just wants a good milkshake with a hearty breakfast or want to try fantastic classic Filipino fare.
We had a great experience here. Attentive and welcoming service. The food is fantastic. We were especially surprised by how delicious the cassava cake is. We can’t wait to return for the dinner menu. Mind you they close at 4pm Food 5/5 Comfortable and quaint atmosphere Service 5/5 I’m going back for more.
Great customer service and food. Would not fully understand why you would come here besides for the filipino breakfast/lunch. The value is decent ($8.95) for what it is. Warning - fish does come with small bones on it. The rice is deliciously made (not your standard white rice) - have to try it to understand the flavour. The menu is not extensive and straightforward. It's a cozy spot on a corner with perhaps 3 parking spots (and a lot of street parking available).
My favourite breakfast in Canada (the world?) Cancun Royale! Ask for it - not on the menu
Rude staff, dirty establishment. Would not recommend
Absolute jem of a home in the wall. The owners were very nice and attentive plus the food was excellent. Food : 5/5
When Im the area this my go to breakfast and lunch spot!
Love the ambiance and very good food tasty ! All time favourite
What an assuming neighborhood gem! We passed by Ritz Restaurant for a whole year, and what a waste of time that was. Were looking forward to trying all menu options and becoming regulars for many years to come.
service is very good; personal, The food taste for the one just so-so. Food
Great place for breakfast and lunch. Very friendly owner. Will go back for sure.
Very authentic place with fresh ingredients, delicious food and friendly service. Fresh coffee and filipino breakfast strongly recommended.
Friendly service and good food!
Delicious Filipino and Canadian food/cuisine. Great service.
This place is a small business that you should support. Dont be garbage and go to a franchise. They are nice. The food was great and the lady who served us was really kind
Some of the best food in the city and my favourite tapislog in town. Soft atmosphere, cozy vibes and kind owner. I bring people here when they visit the city whenever I can.
Food w tasted very good but couldn t believe how small the portion was for a large oxtail dinner that cost $23.50 . Was hoping to get my money s worth. That is why those type of restaurants don t stay long in business . Wouldn t like to see a small for $17.99 . What a joke. Good luck
Absolute hidden gem in East York! Ritz has Americana vibes with a Filipino twist. Everything was kept in great condition despite the age of this diner! I highly recommend the dasilog and tapsilog. These are Filipino breakfast items that are served with rice. Dasilog is fried tilapia with and side of vinegar dressing that you drizzle over. The skin is so crispy and the fish is fried perfectly. The saltiness of the fish went really well with the rice! The tapsilog is stir fried beef and the beef was tender and incredibly saucy. Also works super well with a side of rice. There are greens on the plate too to cut into the savory flavor. The portions are more on the smaller side but the quality of the food is there. You can tell the cooking is with care. The cassava cake was honestly the best I ve had in the city. It was phenomenal and had a buttery top as well as the best soft texture. They sell it to go as well! Such a great spot, reasonable pricing, and homey 50s/60s atmosphere! I definitely ate at the Ritz!
Great small Filipino breakfast place. Tapsilog are my family s go to meal here. Small and quaint. Great service and kind owners
We took my parents here for lunch! The food is amazing!
Lovely, friendly, family-owned restaurant. I ve always had a great experience every time I go. Authentic flavours and quality ingredients.
Very clean & friendly. Good flavor!
One of the most lovely brunch spots I have ever tried. Their Filipino breakfast is top notch and the most lovely service. Highly recommend.
Absolutely delicious food, cozy atmosphere, and the owner was so welcoming! Will definitely be back!
I have been going there since I was a very little boy! Havent been lately but the food was always well above average! Its a great little restaurant!
Cute diner for home cooked meals
We accidently happened upon this wonderful restaurant and had a delicious lunch served by very welcoming hosts. What a surprise! Will definitely will go out of our way next time in TO to visit for a meal.
Excellent service, delicious food and above all Mrs.s great laugh. I was there a few days ago and it brings back beautiful memories.
Always a great breakfast/brunch at the Ritz. Marlene takes great care of us.
Greqt service and delicious food!
Its a great, cozy old school diner with great prices and food
Our neighborhood Filipino & Canadian restaurant. Try their tapsilog and kare-kare for an enjoyable Filipino food. They also have Canadian menu, as well.
Really nice diner style restaurant with really good comfort food and friendly service
Amazing Filipino breakfast Love
Really good. Loved the filipino breakfast.
Good food. Friendly service. Even our baby loved it.
Cute and quaint cafe. Really enjoyed their filipino brunch. I had the tapsilog while my partner had the longsilog. Being able to share the dishes, I think the ratio of half tapsilog and half longsilog would be perfect. Loved their garlic fried rice, eggs were well cooked, and do try their spicy sauce! The service was nice too! Would enjoy coming back.
The breakfast steak and gourmet hamburger is to die for thank you Tita Marlene
Loved the attention and the food ! Definitelly coming back
This was my first time trying Filipino breakfast and this is the best !!! The ambience , service and the food - just the best. Even the interior was so amazing !!!
The best filipino food i ve ever eaten!! I always get the Daing Silog and i ve come back so many times here!
Really good place great Filipino food friendly staff
Had a very nice breakfast there
Authentic Filipino cuisine. The sinigang and traditional breakfast was fantastic. Definitely recommend if you re looking for delicious authentic Filipino food. Can t wait to go back!
Nice cozy place and the food was amazing. They include beverage in breakfast and coffee has refill. Service was so good!
This is a hidden gem. A really cool family runned establishment. The Philpino breakfast is awesome. The dinner menu is diverse and has something for everyone. You have to check out Ritz Restaurant, a little old town Toronto feel with a twist. The owners are friendly and make you feel like part of the family. I love this place.
Always fresh, good food. Thank you Tita Marlene !!!!
One of the best grilled salmon and rosti I have had in Toronto!
Love this place
Love this place - food is homemade and delicious!
I ve passed by this restaurant for many years and was encouraged to try it. Had a Philippino breakfast which was great. It s a very hole in the wall spot but the food was okay. Some of the cutlery weren t very clean. Service was fast and the staff were pleasant.
Love this place. As others have noted the place is comforting and welcoming and I look forward to being able to sit inside one day. The food is wonderful. We love the filipino breakfast and lunches, and the burgers.
I ve been going to Ritz for years now and the quality and quantity of food is amazing. Fresh food made to order and the staff are very pleasant! They also have traditional Filipino breakfasts which my mom and I have had and they are so tasty! I ve brought my friends here before and we have all loved it!
This place is amazing you have to go inside and check out the menu and they have alot of lunch and dinner specials I ordered the Ritz burger with cheese and chicken burger both where amazing 5 stars well recommended
A nice place south of the Golden Triangle. Small diner but the food and service are both excellent. I really enjoyed their eggs benedict. A nice surprise here.
Ritz Restaurant is a good restaurant, the food quality of Ritz Restaurant is good and the food is delicious.
Great food, friendly fast service!
Love the food. Very friendly and hommy environment.
Great food serving both Canadian and Filipino-style breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Even the milkshakes and cassava dessert tasted good. Love it every time I come here!
Small family-owned restaurant with a mixture of American & Philippino food
It s look nice place! Not sure . However I passed by and I ordered chicken breast in a bun but the chicken breast was not well done! Yet they don t put knives to cut the chicken
Diner is located at the north-west corner of Donlands and Gamble. There are two parking spots on Gamble right outside the diner. (Bring some change to feed the parking metres.) You step inside and see the original decor that includes cosy booths. Canadian and Filipino breakfast and lunch served until 4PM every day except Monday. We ordered 2 eggs over easy, brown toast, home fries, and crispy bacon. The bacon was VERY good with no fat at all. The meanudo (pork and vegetable stew) served on white rice with freshly cooked green beans, carrots and broccoli. It was super tasty and came with a tangy side sauce. We also had a side order of dasilog (fried milkfish), which had bones but no big deal and it came with a white vinegar dip. Plus, had the buttermilk pancakes, which were fluffy and delicious. For dessert, we ordered the homemade lechon flan. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. Coffee was good. Service was friendly. Thank you!
I tried their breakfast today Highly recommend this place! It is a hidden gem. Affordable and taste great!!! It gets pretty busy by noon so if you want a seat come earlier. Will definitely come back.
Lansilog with egg and rice and leche flan if available. Amazing mom and pop restaurant been going here for years!
Great place to eat even when you have celiac
A mix of Filipino and Canadian food, primarily breakfast and lunch
Great neighbourhood diner. The chef knows how to prepare poached eggs to perfection and the scrambled are excellent. The Tapsilog has always been awesome. Worth a visit.
Best breakfast and Philippine food in all East York.
Good food, reasonably priced. Went for breakfast, but will definitely come back for dinner to try dinner specialties. We ve never had Filiipino food and this looks like the place to try. Dated look, but charming. Great service.
Great food from Philippines. The eggs benedict is very well done, with perfectly poached eggs and seasoned grilled tomatoes. The tapsilog (part of the breakfast menu) is also very good.
Local Filipino food and traditional comfort food like breakfast and sandwiches. Lady who runs the place is very nice and the food is always great.
Our go to for Filipino breakfast. Very homey and yummy food. Time your arrival as it does gets very busy.
After a gruelling morning of heavy lifting and profusely sweating while slowly dying of hunger, me and my counterparts decided on coming to this amazing place. It feels like you re at home, kicking back, enjoying some fantastic food. Sublime service, great food, and a great place for people who are just needing a break from the rowdy time of life or families who just want to enjoy a good meal. I highly recommend everyone checks this place out at least once!
It s cute looking. Not much effort goes in the service. Owned by a Filipino family they probably prefer their own people sub consciously. Food is average. Parking is there. Prices are commensurate.
Love this charming little restaurant in Donlands. Although its not been renovated for years, theres something cute about this place. It offers the classic American Canadian breakfast, but also does fabulous rendition of Filipino lunch and breakfast choices. They further add a classic taste of homemade vinegar to the side of their dishes like Tapsilog and Dasilog. Patrons are usually from around the neighbourhood. This is a Debit card or Cash only place. So make sure you have either or.
Very nice atmosphere, i wish i knew about this place before. They have delicious canadian and Filipino food at a very reasonable price. Costumer service is great and fast. Ill be coming back for sure.
Tasty food at a reasonable price. Try the Philippine breakfasts - Tony the tiger says theyre grrrreeeeeeeeaaaaat.
Must try their Filipino dishes
I passed this place a million times and never even noticed it until I went in for Phillipino breakfast one day. Now I keep going back. Its the best breakfast and I dont even like rice but somehow they make it so delicious. Its such a cute, cozy place and the service is great.
Get the Filipino breakfasts. Theyre fabulous and worth the price.
This is an unassuming hidden breakfast gem in East York! We went for breakfast and loved the food and the cozy atmosphere of this tiny diner. The food was delicious (we ordered the traditional breakfast and Cancun omelette). I loved the coffee (not bitter) and even the classic coffee cups. Check out the song listings on the table jukeboxes for a blast from the past. I felt transported back in time! Highly recommended.
Great little neighbourhood run in diner. Not very Caribbean but simple and good. PS cash and debit only - no credit.
The description is just way off on this place. Where do they get these things? This is a gloriously kitschy, family run, restaurant with absolutely the best Filipino and Canadian breakfast at the most reasonable prices youre likely to find anywhere. Highly recommended!
A hidden gem. Friendly and clean this nostalgic looking family run diner will take you back in time in a great way. There is a selection of typical north American diner food, as well it also offers dishes from the Philippines. It may not seem like a typical mix but it is a great introduction to philipino foods. There are counter seats and booth seating for about 26-ish guests. I will return for more visits to work my way through the menu.
It s a tiny old diner with simple but yummy and reasonably priced menu. The deserts are nice too. We even took some to go. Only accepts cash or Interac debit so come prepared. Lots of parking space on the side street.
Staff is friendly, food is fantastic. The beef dip was perfect. I havent tried a whole lot on the menu but everything I have tried has been excellent. Nice, fresh ingredients and a comfortable atmosphere. Oh, and reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
Big food small prices
Great little retro family run diner with awesome food! Would defiantly recommend the philipino breakfast!
Great food and service. Eggs Benedict were very good but I would use less herbs as they have very strong taste. The pudding is AMAZING.
Has some Phillipino breakfast and dinner dishes in addition to regular diner breakfast lunch dishes.
Our beaks were very tasty
Delicious breakfast. The dasilog was delicious. Marinated fried milkfish, garlic fried rice, and over easy eggs. Great prices and service.
Great breakfast, burgers, fries and very tasty Filipino food.
Classy restaurant.the best burgers in town.
Small, quiet and friendly. Only one rule. Mom is boss!
Consistently very good and inexpensive. I used to have the regular Canadian breakfast until I tried their Filipino options, longsilog breakfast is my favourite.
Great food great people
Garbage. Gravy was water
Its a cozy little local diner-type restaurant with amazing Filipino specials and menu. The lamb shank special is a must get when you see it on the specials board. My favorite is the chicken and pork adobo though.
Family friendly. Been going there since I was young. Really nice owners. They do the best they can. And make great food
Great food, busy during weekends, friendly hostess. Best place thus far for loganisu sausages.
Love this place! We tend to always go on the weekend for some Filipino brunch. They have really good Filipino Food and even Canadian food! Lol such friendly and attentive staff too.
Relaxed, cheerful and unpretentious.
My friends and I love this place. Smoked salmon and eggs Benedict great service and not expensive home cooked delights
Love the Ritz Restaurant for its filipino breakfast, steak and milkshakes
Excellent. Great mom and pop place.
I love the food. Specially the Filipino dishes!
While we normally get pretty good service and food, today the food we got was under-cooked. It may have been busy but there is no excuse for red burgers. They have lost our business.
Awesome little gem to try out some alternative styles of breakfast food
Friendly Filipino Family Restaurant. Good Filipino breakfast, & Continental Breakfast place.
Delicious Canadian and Philipino food in a very casual low key atmosphere.
The salmon special is a favorite
A little gem in East York specializing in Philipine dishes. Also has North American menu items. The Ritz is best for the Philipine breakfast/brunches.
Such a charming little spot, which does seem a bit run down, but! I guess thats what gives this place its appeal in some way. It seems more retro and very old-school if anything, with its 1970s milkshake machines and its dated radio which seemed to still work surprisingly, and jukebox machines that they had at each table - for display only! The Filipina server I assumed was one of the owners, and she was very friendly and helpful with portion suggestions, and told us that most items are good enough for 1 person. We had the lumpia, and the kare kare with steamed rice on the side. For dessert, a leche flan. Overall, everything was pretty decent! The bok choy was definitely fresh and the peanut butter sauce was reminiscent to that of Maxs in Vaughan I will say bc its more on the peanut buttery side. I enjoyed our dine in experience here and would recommend it to people who just want something simple and modest.
Great Filipino breakfast!
Awesome classic breakfast in a great vintage diner setting
Love this restaurant. Salmon is favorite with rosti potatoes..yumm
Really good filipino breakfast and awesome customer service. My family eats here whenever we have a chance.
Friendly service,great food
Good breakfast place and great service!
I love their philipino breakfast. Tapsilog, Dasilog & Longsilog. Their garlic rice is delicious. I definitely recommend it.
Excellent jerk chicken
It says its a caribean eatery on Google maps but its not. I went in and asked for jerk chicken to find out they had none. Such a dissapointment
Good little diner that offers Filipino and traditional greasy spoon fare at reasonable prices and with friendly service.
Best filipino breakfast in town!
