Big breakfasts, tasty & fresh lunch menu, homemade soups, freshly baked cakes and good coffee. On top of that best in town original PIEROGI dumplings handmade in our kitchen. Dear wonderful customers, Welcome to The Painted Rooster Edinburgh! In our restaurant, we prepare everything we serve from scratch. We do not use pre-prepared products at all so everything you receive on your plate is made especially for you, with our love. Whilst we do try to work as quickly as possible, sometimes our dishes take a little longer than usual at busier times. But the quality of the food we serve is most important to us, so we thank you for your understanding, patience and appreciation for fresh, vibrant, well-prepared food. Trust us... it will be worth
We were visiting the town and came across this little gem on route to Deans Village. So glad we found it. Delicious food and very friendly staff. Would love to return if we were in town again.
Oh my gosh this place is amazing. It was rammed with loads of folk waiting for take out when we got there. The service is soo friendly. Food is next level and an amazing range of drinks too. Would recommend 100%
This American boy is beyond happy. Incredible top to bottom, left to right. The sweetest service ever. The best Americano I’ve had in this country. Portions just like America. The cooks are superb. The food was so fresh. Cooked so perfectly. Sian is so adorable and sweet and really makes you feel so welcomed. Amy is also such an absolute Gem and lovely human. I would 100% suggest visiting this location.
Super cute restaurant. Had a good breakfast and they had customizable vegan options. Ambient is cozy and cute, the decor is fun and the service is very friendly and quick. Would recommend for a hearty breakfast.
Quaint cafe for breakfast or lunch at anytime. Nice change of pace from the touristy restaurants. Excellent food and relaxing atmosphere. It’s in a basement but well lit and welcoming. We had a couple different breakfasts…three different breakfast rolls, a croissant and some drinks…all very good. Would definitely come back.
Lovely and friendly staff , cozy atmosphere lovely Polish soup served in bread. Fresh and crispy , very tasty coffee and lovely decorations lots of lovely paintings on the walls. Good menu lots of options to choose from also vegetarian friendly. Thank you for having us.
Do yourself a favor and eat here. Everything we had was not only incredibly delicious, but beautifully presented. Staff was friendly and helpful and the location was decorated very cutely. Highly recommend.
We actually just wanted a coffee but ended up having lunch there. I love the all-day breakfast and the huge variety of options (meaty, vegetarian and vegan, even vegan haggis!). It was hard to decide. It's cool that a build your own breakfast is offered so you can get all the things you like specifically. The shop is bigger than it looked at first which was surprising, but it was really cozy
Luckily I walked in here by chance. We had no regrets there. Very nice place for breakfast and lunch. Quality of the food is very good. Friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. If it is busy you may have to wait a while, it is definitely worth it
Would absolutly recommend visiting Its cozy and the food and drinks are delicious. Dietary restrictions: Glutenfree dishes
Came here as was just passing by and really fancied eggs benedict. The food was great, nicely presented and the service super quick!
I love it!
Great place for brunch. The build you own breakfast is a great option that allows you to have what you want they way you want. The coffee was excellent.
This establishment reconciled me with sandwiches. Copious with quality products, they are very good. Cozy place full of charm.
We came here just by chance after our visit to Dean Village and were pleasantly surprised. In the upper part there is a small room with tables, but when you go downstairs you only see the actual café. The whole thing is in a basement, but its so nicely decorated that you dont even notice it. The cappuccino was great and I ate what I consider to be the tastiest scons in Edinburgh. Class!
I dont understand all the positive reviews. The waitresses were very slow and the dishes very simple and much too expensive for what it was...
The food is immaculate. The staff are so lovely and welcoming and the scenery is lovely. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is out for a trip in Edinburgh. Also the music is fire, this is written by a kid BTW so that is a compliment, and my mum loved it too. Definitely recommend, give it six stars if I could.
Great food and attention
The prices make this place not worth it at all. The food is good, but way too expensive. The craziest thing I saw on their menu was two slices of toast for £3.5. If you go here, expect to spend minimum £20 per person for a decent meal that won t leave you hungry after. The atmosphere is also meh, it s in a basement and feels claustrophobic especially when the place is packed.
A really nice and cosy place! The food is simply great, tasty and served in large portion! A place to recommend Food : 5/5
Yummy avocado smash with sourdough toast, poached eggs, hashbrowns and sautéed spinach with mushrooms. Sweet servers aim to please at this quaint off the beaten path gem! Food
Great breakfast
It is situated close to Dean Village and St Marys Cathedral. The place is small but very pleasant, you have to go down some stairs to access the room, where we were served very quickly. The staff is very attentive and friendly and explained the dishes and the different options on the menu to us. We ordered a No 5 in Toast and some Pierogi (typical Polish dish) and it was very good.
Cute small place that serves amazing hot breakfast. Had the roll with scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage. Unbelievable!
All good places have some bad reviews. This is the one for this restaurant. We got to the restaurant and the waitress with the short hair took one look at us and said there was a 40 min wait and gave us an annoyed look like we should leave. She looked extra annoyed that we decided to wait. Literally 5 minutes later, a table opened and we were sat by a different waitress. 10 minutes after that there were at least 3 open tables. The same short haired waitress took our order. 50 minutes later, the short haired waitress comes over and said that there had been a screw up and that our order had somehow been lost. She had to retake our order and literally had to write it down again. Except this time , even though at least a third of the menu is grilled chicken items, and their name is the painted rooster, they had no more chicken. We ended up with a Ruben and a burger. The only saving grace to what had up until this point been one of the worst experiences of our lives was the food was really good. The waitress with the longer hair who originally sat us did apologize and she took 10% off the bill. As my wife is Asian and I look Irish, maybe she was prejudice. It certainly appeared so, but I can only speculate why she treated us so horribly.
Had a delicious breakfast at this hidden gem in Edinburgh.
Small busy place. Great selection of breakfast options. The best poached eggs we ve had. Haggis was amazing too. Really enjoyed my breakfast. Great service too. Dietary restrictions: Dairy allergy
Had an amazing breakfast/brunch. Great food, very kind staff and a nice rooster-theme overall. Side note: subtle music in the backround was bangers only
This place is a gem. My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place by accident and we were not disappointed. The food, the vibe, the service is top notch.
Great breakfast. Very personable staff. Not a large restaurant, so plan accordingly.
Excellent food, very kind staff, welcoming and special atmosphere
The coffee and food were delicious. All the staff were friendly and welcoming.
Expensive for the size of the portions and quality of food received. Has a 10% service charge and usually happy to pay but service unfriendly and told to go fill our own water cups at dispenser. Offered nachos as side but it is only corn chips.
Excellent breakfast Nice cozy establishment Great service My second visit here Food : 5/5 |
A very cute little restaurant. You dont expect the cozy atmosphere with a good playlist when you stand outside. The food is good and you get a lot for what you pay. Free feminine hygiene products in the bathroom adds a 6th star for me.
As we went from Dean s Village to Edinburgh City Centre we came across this place. This place looks very small in the outside but has tables in the underground. The food was very good and it has an All Day Breakfast Menu. It has a cosy vibe.
Absolutely delicious food! We had the morning booster and some pastries. I would definitely recommend eating at The Painted Rooster.
A hidden gem! The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, food selection expansive, and the mint, cucumber, lemon water was a brilliant touch. Definitely try the pierogis!
Fairly generic hipster cafe in a basement in the west-end. Very poor ventilation made for an uncomfortable time, we were just sweating it was so warm in there. Went because of the high ratings and proximity to our hotel. Nothing was disappointing and nothing was exceptional.
Little portions and expensive, my salmon eggs benedict had almost no salmon and surely no hollandaise Big chicken salad at £14,90 with 2 micro pieces of chicken! Very convenient for them, not for the customers Food : 3/5
We were about to visit the nearby Make Believe and had to feed our babies somewhere, as unfortunately the other place doesn t allow bringing baby food in. Thank you very much to the lovely staff at the Painted Rooster who provided us with two high chairs, took our order at the table and were very understanding with some baby food ending up underneath the table We only had some drinks as unfortunately there weren t many cakes that would be both gluten and dairy free but we would love to come again and try more dishes properly! Matcha latte with oat milk was decent.
Went here on a Google Maps recommendation and was not disappointed. We had the lentil soup, pierogi and chicken wrap. Great waitress service and even though they were full, it didnt take long to arrive Wheelchair accessibility: Afraid theres no access to downstairs.
My son lived in Edinburgh for a couple years while pursuing his Masters and insisted on taking me to this little place. It was the best food experience I had, not only in Edinburgh but all ok the UK!
Had the best breakfast I Scotland here! Menu is surprisingly large, food portions are very large & everything was very tasty. Service was excellent, attentive , friendly & they wanted to please. One server by the name of Amy was delightful, a young college student working towards a degree in math/econ. We wish her well. This place actually had siracha, my fave condiment! Will definitely return my next trip to Edinburgh !
Really very nice and delicious. Very warm welcome, very nice and warm atmosphere. The Rooster burger is delicious!
Downstairs, quality food in laid back setting. A little pricey. Could have split one.
Had a fantastic breakfast at the painted rooster. Very tasty with a great price. Staff was excellent as was the food. Highly recommend.
Fantastic food and very friendly staff! We loved eating here during our time in Edinburgh.
Highly recommend this breakfast/lunch spot. The food and service were fantastic!
Well worth it! Good stuff, great choice of music and great food! Next time in Edinburgh definitely coming back.
Recommendation! Try the Chroque Madame if you like a lot of cheese. Lovely service
Great food, the quality of the dishes is very high. High quality ingredients
A very nice place with good food! A little small but warm place, we were well received there with our 2 dogs
Food and staff are wonderful. Recommended
Great place to brunch, we had a big brunch there and it was delicious! We definitely come back :)
Quaint farmhouse style with roosters everywhere. After walking down an old staircase you arrive in this low ceiling culinary beauty. I ordered the smaller salmon and avocado toast. I don t remember the name of the item, but it was on the bottom right of the menu. An absolutely fantastic meal at the right portion size before I explore Edinburgh. The avocado was ripe and creamy, salmon fresh and smooth, and a perfect poached egg. The horseradish sauce and pickled red onions added a little zing that brightened up the dish. And the service - spectacular! Just the right amount of attention and always happy. Thanks for a great experience!
My go-to spot for Brunch in Edinburgh. Great food, quirky location. 0nly criticism is the coffee is ok, an afternoon of barista training and it would be perfect.
Superb breakfast in a great atmosphere!
It Was really perfect, nice food, good ingrédient, tasty and well served. Good if you are starving :) Thanks also for the service. Sad to not live in this city just for this restaurant XD Hope you the Best !
Good food, good service in a neat atmosphere
Very nice restaurant. We came across it by chance and we were not disappointed! The decor is nice, the people who work are very nice and we ate well!
Everything was perfect, Very clean, very delicious, Very delicious and tasty Thanks Filiz
Cozy, welcoming little spot with rooster decor everywhere, serving up home-cooked pierogis. The pierogis were excellent but my favorite was the cottage cheese and potato variety.
Morning booster is great! Poached eggs boiled to perfection , spinach and mushrooms delicious . Only minus apple juice is in fact from a bottle , not freshly squeezed - as almost everywhere in the UK however ..
Nice little coffee with great breakfast and delicious cakes. Recommendation: Eggs Benedict and the Cinnamon Bun (let it warm up!). As the name suggests, the theme is rooster and everything is decorated accordingly.
Lovely little coffee shop
Great food
Brunch was very very good. We had eggs Benedict and the club sandwich, both of which really hit the spot.
We started and finished our mini break with wonderful breakfasts at the Painted Rooster. the food is amazing and excellently presented and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended.
Cake caramel brownies excellent !
standard cafe fare with basic pastries but polish pastries (malenkas) and tray bakes were outstanding and tasted homemade. The dining space was mostly underground and none of the rooms had any windows so slightly claustrophobic.
A great find on our first morning and then visited for breakfast each day of our 3 night stay. Food was delicious and staff are very friendly. If we visit again we d definitely go back.
Breakfast with family before leaving Edinburgh. We chose the place based on the reviews and we were delighted! Very friendly staff, hearty and delicious dishes. The equivalent of 95 for 4. If you want to enjoy a good breakfast, go for it!
Had breakfast here. Waiters were kind and quick but the food isnt that great and damn expensive for the quality. I understand prices are higher nowadays but there are many places in the city where you can get better quality, more interesting food for less.
We ate here for a few days and it was our best choice, the prices are only a little higher than in other places but here they do not charge a service charge without asking, which is the case in most places in Edinburgh, The food is great, fresh, made of good ingredients, friendly service and wonderful coffee. We are people who like good and healthy food and thats what we got here. We will definitely come back6
Very cute place but hard to sit well, the space is limited but its okay. Food was also okay, I expected something I couldnt cook at home. Maybe I shouldve ordered something else.
Just arrived in Edinburgh, and needed a good meal to get us started. Found this little gem just across the road from our apartment. Very friendly staff! (Torri ?), fun decor, and really delicious food in AMPLE servings. Will definitely return.
We came for some breakfast and ended up getting the 3 piece breakfast roll. It was possibly the nicest I ve ever had. We were visiting from Manchester to view places to live due to relocation and we ve managed to rent a property just over the road. We will definitely be returning!
Great freshly cooked breakfast with friendly staff and a quaint restaurant. You will love the food here
Went for coffee and it was nice Carrot cake was slightly dry but still tasty Food : 4/5
Truly excellent cafe, breakfast, lunch, coffee are all brilliant. Another example of my rule that places hidden away in basements or upstairs are generally good.
Local produce, tasty food
Over all good experience. Cute decor. Nice food. Would visit again.
Slightly disappointed Felt we were an inconvenience , staff not very welcoming Latte wasnt great it was bitter Nearly £9.00 for a large latte and a can of Coke! Didnt order lunch as we felt like an inconvenience and just wanted to leave. Its a shame as cafe quite quirky
Great food, nice people, awesome experience
Coffee was very average. Flat white was far from being a flat white. Scrambled eggs shouldn t be scrambled on a pan but before touching it. Prices are expensive. 4£ for flat white? I m sorry I live in London and I m a barista, never saw a price like that.
Hidden little gem for breakfast or lunch. Went for the haggis w/ poached eggs. Good choice. Nice staff and good music choice btw. Food : 5/5
Good food and Nice place !
We dropped in for a cooked breakfast. Beware the high prices. The menu by the road shows no prices. You only start to realise how much this is going to cost you after you sit down. Two breakfasts and three coffees came to just under FIFTY POUNDS. The food was alright and the coffee was very good but I wont hurry back. Wheelchair accessibility: I saw a table outside on the pavement. If the weather is good that would be ok but the toilet is not wheelchair accessible, down steep tight steps.
Such great breakfast, one of the best places I have ever tried. The homemade soup is so delicious! The club sandwitch is another level, and the grilled cheese, Scottish breakfast, can not recommend more. The price is slightly on the higher end. But well worth it! I would definitely keep coming back.
Absolutely LOVED this place for brunch! Incredible menu for all dietary requirements, food , coffee, baked treats all delicious I wish it was my local but if I return to Edinburgh Ill definitely come here. Emma was so helpful considering our party of 5 had various dietary requirements. Its a cute cosy atmosphere Thank you a lovely experience
Great fresh food, with a super friendly staff and atmosphere. Bread, pastries and pierogis were all fantastic
3 times in 2 days, that s how much we liked it. The welcome is excellent, the breakfasts and the delicious bagels. The setting is cozy with a little background music for a gentle awakening. Great discovery!
Excellent experience. Cozy, nice place, perfect for a rainy day. Top-quality ingredients and a bunch of vegetarian options, that are normally hard to find. There was a little delay in getting the food, but the wait was worthwhile. Pity the coffee is English, but it still gets 5 stars for the presentation. Highly recommended.
We stopped for a late lunch and left happy and full. The gluten-free options were fantastic and the food was so fresh and delicious. Would go back in a heartbeat!!! Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten-free options on the menu
Take rollerball with two ingredients, toast with egg and two Americano. The place is very nice, and the service is very good, very friendly. The price, like everything else in Edinburgh, is high, but quality-price is good.
Breakfast was expensive however it was a great treat and we could tell the ingredients were high quality and everything was cooked well. Stornoway black pudding, Haggis, Lorne, potato cakes yum yum thanks alot!
Disappointed by the price the quality and size of the raclette melt with sausages.
Wanted to go for breakfast this morning, but wasn t open at the advertised opening time. So went to Cairngorm coffee instead. The food is usually very good, so it was a shame I couldn t eat there.
Very disappointing food, a small portion of 6 pirogi with poor wilted salat without any dressing. I didnt like it. A cup of borshsh wasnt tasty as well. Incredibly and ridiculously overpriced. Comparing to other places it was an absolute disappointment.
Lovely little cafe with a nice atmosphere. The food was tasty and staff were helpful. A little bit pricey for what you get, I had the avocado and poached eggs on toast, could have done with a bigger portion especially if paying just over £10 for it.
Brilliant place. Great menu with fantastic pierogi dumplings and borscht being the highlights, and also superb Borscht soup and wonderful cakes. Super friendly staff as well.
Helps out well for lunch, a fairly large menu :)
We went here for breakfast and I was excited to try Scottish breakfast for the first time in the UK, but I was slightly disappointed. The prices were too high for what you got. I ordered extra fried tomatoes which had no flavour or even properly fried, and I think the quality of sausage was not that great, beans were also just straight from the can (apparently that s normal but I expected better beans in a cafe). I did really enjoy the tatty scones though, the bread was also really fresh and tasty. We had orange juice with our breakfast which was very fresh and nice.
Excellent, excellent menu and lovely staff. Plenty of vegan and gluten free options as well as the classics. Orange juice was sublime. Not the cheapest, but worth it for quality of ingredients and vibe.
Came for lunch with my wife, daughter and baby granddaughter. Great food, friendly service and even helped us get the buggy down the stairs and back up.
Nice atmosphere, everything is very tasty
Cosy
Very average but the price is not low
Very happy we chose this cafe for breakfast. Lovely staff. Food was delicious.
Very good brunch and nice staff! Hot apple pie is also excellent.
Really decent helpings. A bit pricey but good quality for it. Our vegan friends were a bit disappointed to see a £1 surcharge on the vegan products but they were very happy with the taste and quality of what they ordered. Dietary restrictions: Well marked for all dietary needs and Happy to adjust to suit if they can manage it. Kid-friendliness: They were good with our three year old and had plenty of high chairs. I would not try and bring a buggy here though. Wheelchair accessibility: Not great and probably not suitable for any larger chairs. Not their fault really as the building is very restricted for space and layout.
Had breakfast ...this is one of the nicest places ever,it has multiple small rooms all cozy and so pretty, food so good and staff super nicest and attentive.Amazing!
Delicious, super friendly service, it was a nice surprise to arrive at that place.
Delicious breakfast. The food was prepared with care and tasted delicious.
If youre in the mood for some delicious food and great service, you cant go wrong with The Painted Rooster. I recently visited this lunch place and was blown away by the quality of the food and the attention to detail in its presentation and composition. From the moment I walked in, the polite and efficient service was evident. My order was taken quickly and my food arrived at my table in no time. As for the food, I was not disappointed. Each dish was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were simply great. The dishes were presented beautifully, which only added to the overall dining experience. Overall, I highly recommend The Painted Rooster. Whether youre in the mood for a quick bite or a full meal, this restaurant is sure to satisfy. With its great food, polite service, and fantastic presentation, its a dining experience you wont forget.
OMG the best breakfast. I m obsessed with the haggis hash brown and eggs. Food was amazing!!
Cozy, friendly staff, great latte & great food! Good place to fuel up for a big day of sightseeing!
Excellent!!!! I do not know how the staff could be friendlier as they were so perfect ! And kind and nice and patient, taking in count I had to translate to my non English speaking family. When the food arrived it was absolutely divine. Black pudding was delicious still trying to figure out what seasoning was in it but absolutely amazing. Decoration is very cute and all is very clean. Absolutely excellent
Best food I have had in my time in Scotland and England. I have been to all of the famous restaurants in the cities I ve been to but this one tops it. I got the smashed avocado toast with lox. The bread was homemade and perfect. Avocado was fresh. Poached eggs were cooked PERFECT. Decor is also so sweet and homey.
Good food but expensive and added 10% tip on without letting us know.
Beautiful food and very friendly staff. My recommendation to visiters in food would be The rooster burger with home made lemonade
Lovely Café, rooster themed, beautiful and creative interior, nice staff and really good breakfast
Nice food but overpriced.
THE BEST FOOD. we were blown away with the food and the service
Delicious food, co atmosphere. I will come back for 100% highlly recommended ;) Food
Lovely food, great service Vegetarian options: Plenty of options for vegans & vegetarians
Poached eggs and haggis was the best Ive had. Ended up coming back!
Good breakfast menu, cozy, cavie atmosphere. Not cheap.
Delicious eggs Benedict and hash browns. Top notch, what a great find! Enjoyed our flat white and match latte also. Lovely staff.
I went because the Google rating wasnt bad. Its in the basement and the staff is friendly. I ordered the brunch menu and it was delicious. I ordered Iron Bru? because it was said to be an Edinburgh drink, and it tasted like something I had tried before somewhere. It came to £32.9 for two.
Sweet spot for breakfast on our trip. Country American decor & peppy 80s music. Felt very cozy. The mocha is wonderful. Great breakfast options & very filling! Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan options on menu.
The food here was excellent. Me and my friend got the avocado plate and it was very healthy and fresh. Where the three stars comes in was the poor customer service. It wasn t too busy but there were two waitresses serving us. My friend asks for the check while going to the bathroom as we ve been done eating for 10-15 min. Waitress tells us to sit down and wait with some attitude. So we sit back down and wait another 15 minute and I ask again politely from my table. Again, the waitress is weirdly not happy that we asked for the check and finally we get it and can go. I understand maybe they were busy or having a bad day, but we were just trying to get our check so we can continue our vacation. Wasn t impressed with the staff and wouldn t come again. Even before asking for the check, staff was fairly inattentive.
Cute little spot for breakfast. Great service. The croque madam was delicious!
This place had one of the best club sandwiches Ive had in my entire life! It is an absolute must! We also had the raclette and potatoes too, which was great! I will note that we were driving out of town and were looking for something we could eat in the car and it was not a car food. I would recommend eating there or eating at your house with it.
Pleasent atmosphere in lovely interior caffe. The stuff is very polite and friendly. Highly recommend the coffee! Breakfast was very tasty.
I would not come here again. My scrambled eggs were not cooked. The toast arrived on the table cold. The sausage was inedible. Finally, the service matched the quality of the food. The people working at this location were incredibly rude and unhelpful. The only positive remark I can give is that the space was cute.
If you visit this place 100% get the chicken noodle soup, amazing flavours and friendly staff, highly recommended.
Exceptional breakfast! Freshly cooked and delicious. Staff are also great.
Disappointing lunch. I ordered the raclette cheese and all I had in the plate was a salad, a mountain of fries and only a small scrape of cheese. I paid £18.50 for this dish and I was happy to but I would have expected to be more than a mouthful of cheese for this price. The waitresses didn t double check on us either.
The food was delicious, although I found it a bit pricey. Friendly staff and lovely cafe.
We stayed in Edinburgh for four days and initially our plan was to have breakfast in four different places... but the first day we went to The Painted Rooster and we loved it that much that we did not try anywhere else! Dog friendly, with delicious food and vegetarian option. Just perfect. 100% recommendable.
The cafe was opened by Poles. You can order traditional Scottish food and also Polish dumplings. The person from England I was with said that this cafe is in the recommendations. I dont know. To introduce a person to Scottish Haggis, I would not bring here. In general, everything is very good, tasty.
very nice atmosphere, friendly helpful staff
Probably the best coffee i have had in Edinburgh. Breakfast here is fantastic
Best sandwiches weve ever eaten.
Best chicken noodle soup I have EVER had. Incredible flavour. My husband, Joel had the chicken wrap! Also amazing! Such a cute spot near Dean s Town. Love the decor and great staff! We by chance met the owner at the Scotsman lounge and her friends recommended we come. So glad we did!!
What a gem! Liked its quirky decor, lovely food & pleasant, friendly service. Recommend!
We were looking to escape the rain after a visit to Dean Village and came across this little basement restaurant by chance. The house burger, the Painged Rooster, was very good. I almost had trouble finishing. Special mention to the Lemon Pie,
Good food, friendly people, and chill vibes. We had a lovely breakfast experience.
Quite good food (hash browns and vegetarian haggis in particular were excellent), in a very cute space with absolutely lovely service. Would love to come back for urek and pierogi. Vegetarian options: Plenty of good vegetarian options, the veggie sausages were alright but the vegetarian haggis was excellent.
Small portions
Excellent brunch place. Extensive and high quality menu.
Great cafe with good food, friendly staff and amazing vibes !!
Great food. Amazing atmosphere!!
Excellent breakfast, excellent coffee. Going back for sure.
Very comfortable mood in the basement. Cappuccino is very good for me.
Neat, little place. Had breakfast here and was surprised to find vegan options. As a vegan (who eats copious amounts of bacon), it was an excellent opportunity to eat a little healthier during our trip. Had the Scottish breakfast with scrambled eggs, beans, vegan haggis (was good), potato patty (good!), and bacon (wonderful), and it was an good size (I asked to omit the toast, and am female and have one stomach, not four). Plenty of other vegan options though, if youre into that sort of thing. Otherwise, plenty of normal options too. Coffee was really good!
We were looking for brunch near our hotel and had seen some really good reviews of this restaurant. The basement room is surprising but the decoration is really nice. The breakfasts and brunches offered are very good value for money. It was generous and very well cooked. I highly recommend.
Round the corner from our Airbnb flat, perfect for brunch before checking out.
Most amazing Reuben Ive had in Britain
Ouch, cost £17 for a plain regular size fry up (one bacon rasher, two sausages, two eggs, one haggis, one black pudding, one slice of bread), no drink.
Lovely spot for breakfast, good portion sizes and friendly staff. Will visit again.
Came here for brunch and it did not disappoint - we took the big avocado breakfast, the eggs Benedict, the mango smoothie, the matcha latte and the cheese cake. Everything was fresh, very well presented and delicious. Weather was lovely so we could enjoy the outdoor seating area too ;) Highly recommended! Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options
The eggs benedict were so so so good - perfectly runny yolks and everything was well seasoned! The fried rather than toasted bread and the chilli mix (also the careful cutting of the avocado) were all very much appreciated touches. Really cool wee operation! :)
The best breakfast I had while visiting the UK. A must visit place is you re in the neighborhood. And the staff are wonderful.
We stopped in after walking over from the airport bus stop while waiting to check in to our Airbnb. It was probably closer to lunch time (almost noon) but we had breakfast since we hadnt eaten yet today. We had poached egg on toast and scrambled egg on toast. Both were excellent. I had some apple cake that had been baked that morning and it was good too. Service was good and friendly. The atmosphere is nice. It feels like a local hangout and is downstairs. We wanted to come back for lunch one day, but were so busy sightseeing that we didnt get back to this area.
Fantastic breakfast. Still full at 4pm
Amazing Food & Staff.
Small underground restaurant with fresh and excellent food. Workers are great. Maybe need a bit more of salmon on Egg benedict plate... Food : 4/5
Friendly staffs. Not bad food and drink menus
Full Scotish Breakfast was delicious and well filling. Nice tea and coffee options on the side. Recommendable!
Great staff, great food and cozy atmosphere! 10/10
First off I ll say what was good, food was tasty and potion sizes were nice. The girl working was lovely and smiley On arrival we were sat and given menus. We waited a while for a drinks order. Half the drinks did not come. When asked the orange juice was brought out. Water was never given despite asking. Food took a long time despite there being one other table in who were already eating. The waiter with the long hair could not have looked more disinterested in being there. He took our food order then proceeded to go and stand on his phone before a few minutes later putting it on the till. For the extortionate prices we paid this did not live up to standards by any means. Absolute cheek to add a service charge on a bill where service was non existent.
Excellent brunch food and a quiet, cosy atmosphere. Milkshakes are highly recommended!
Had the scottish breakfast (you can choose 5 ingredients). Very delicious! The orange juice and the espresso, too!!
Sorry chaps, but closing an hour early on a weekend day is not really a bit earlier, its plenty of time for a meal (with a dessert!).
Fantastic food, very friendly staff. Highly recommended for breakfast
Excellent service and food
Everything amazing, very good place to have breakfast
Fantastic food with charming service from Emma and Torey who both introduced themselves. Big avocado breakfast goes down a Strom and the hash browns are wild good. Gluten free made easy Dietary restrictions: Gluten free was no problem
A little hidden gem for big Scottish Breakfast. We had amazing eggs Benedict with salmon and avocado, as well as the traditional Haggis that was better than expected. Fresh orange juice was below average. Simple tables, average decò and atmosphere.
Wow, ate some great food here
Given under cooked food and because I asked to be cooked again staff were rude
Went for breakfast. The place was cosy and service friendly. Although breakfast was nice it was very expensive. Poached eggs and scrambled eggs on toast with 2 coffees was over £30 and only one slice of toast for each dish -for that price there should be two slices! Overall nice but food nothing special.
