Great place, came here to study. The music isnt too loud and has great taste ( queen vibes). Food tastes delicious even if its a tad bit expensive. All around lovely

I had a sandwich which was very nice. However, my two friends ordered the soup of the day which turned out to be microwaved, tinned hienz tomato soup. Also they forgot one of the soups and had to be reminded, when it did come it was cold and they also forgot the bread that came with it.

Ordered a soup of the day, took 20 minutes for us to have to go and chase up my order only to have it be Heinz tomato soup out of a tin (as seen by my friends), served with no bread but a square of butter? In addition, the soup was heated in a microwave as it was lukewarm at best. Coffee was weak but alright, service was bad but employees were nice.

I don t agree in the least with the negative comments recently posted regarding the coffee served by the new owners of Roundsquare. Being a regular customer, almost daily, for several months now, I have enjoyed the coffee throughout, and I find the new coffee source to be excellent as was the coffee used by the previous owners. The atmosphere at Roundsquare is friendly and welcoming, the food delicious (scones!), and I give the new owners top marks. Roundsquare has now changed hands, and I continue to give the cafe full marks. It was recently successfully refurbished, and the menu updated. Still lovely coffee, good food, and cheerful, friendly staff and owners. A relaxing, comfortable, dog friendly spot.

Recently refurbished, this place is even nicer than before. Great coffee (for folk who are fussy like me) and a fine range of cakes/sandwiches. A large shout out in favour of two great servers.....the very friendly Kurdish chap and the guy who sported the gardening skeleton t-shirt who was also spot on.

The atmosphere is really nice, and gets sunlight well, its so comfortable and clean as well. Such a spacious place!

My favourite café on Morningside Road. Drinks and food options are numerous and all great, the bites are home made and delicious, and the vibe is ideal - large windows, plants, varied seating, sufficient plug sockets, and a bit more spacious than other cafés so it doesn t feel too overrun or get too noisy!

Food here always looks and tastes delicious.

First, I will say that the coffee was delicious and the cute animal art in the froth was adorable. Unfortunately we felt a little let down by the food - we d ordered a bacon sandwich and scrambled eggs on toast (with bacon too). The coffees came out separately and five minutes apart and then all the food came out five minutes apart too, so one person was eating while the other sat there waiting. The bacon had been microwaved or similar as were the eggs, nothing special sadly. The dish oddly came with grapes too?! There was a bulb overhead that was flickering continuously too and was almost migraine inducing, not great if someone in the cafe was epileptic! It wasn t particularly busy so I m unsure why there was such a delay between coffees and food coming out, not sure if it s like this all the time or just a one off but I m not sure we ll be back.

First visit today and I would highly recommend it. Food was fantastic. both staff were so friendly Lynn and her friend ( can t pronounce her name sorry ) definitely be back. Vegetarian options: Vegan soup

This beautiful space really has become a form of second home for me! I always feel so welcomed by Carolin , gözde, burcu and Akan. Whether it s the friendly smiles, conversations , the warmly prepared food and coffee (super wholesome and fresh) to the free sweets and pastries here and there . I really feel the heart , care and dedication these wonderful beings put into all they do in this space and to all they meet. Not everyday I walk into a space and feel met with authentic kindness , and that s what you get here. An all time favourite ! Thank you so much

We are regular visitors, thanks to the great welcome and service, the quality of the coffee, and the range of options from vegan to full meat eater :) the Granola bowls are a favorite for our youngest. My favourite cafe in town run by a fabulous husband-wife team. Great coffee, beautiful loaf cakes and hot sandwiches. When I come to Roundsquare, Im quite pleased at how bright and vibrant the interiors are without being over the top. There are indoor plants hanging from shelves and corners, red brick wall panels and large windows. Clearly, the owners have made an effort and to me thats a huge green flag. I also like how well balanced the menu is and how fresh the food & beverages are here. After trying their coffees, teas, cakes and hot sandwiches since a year, I can say this is my favourite cafe that I visit at least once or twice a week. Its got an upbeat vibe thats reflected from the welcoming smiles of the husband-wife team that run the place - Akin and Burcu.May your tribe increase I usually get the rich flavoured coffee that comes without the burnt/bitter taste I normally get from some other cafes. The fresh tea cakes have just the right sweetness. While its hard to pick a favourite, the Lemon slices are what I usually order. Equally good are the carrot and banana cakes. As also the brownies and cookies. I tried a veg hot sandwich on my last visit and was impressed with the toasted bagel with hummus. Its simple food but its fresh, well made and tasty. And for a Morningside cafe, its priced quite reasonably. Highly recommended!

Stopped in here by chance for breakfast, cafes can be hit or miss but it was so yummy and lots of options, they had a little of everything. Coffees were great also. Lots of seating and no reservations so that s an added bonus. The people working were wonderful too and so nice.

The toast with the sun-dried tomatoes was excellent, and the chai latte is a new favourite.

We had a most delightful experience eating here for breakfast. The food was fresh & homemade. We were given quality service by kind new friends. If we lived here, I would look forward to coming often. You should try the homemade Banana Peanut Butter Bread! Aaaahhhh!!

All day breakfast cafe, had the mozzarella and pesto bagel, granola, waffles, and avocado and feta sandwich. All of the choices were so good.

Stopped in passing because we saw the fantastic looking cakes in the window. Owners welcomed us in personally despite it being busy, cleared a table and we ordered iced coffee, cakes and a vegan bagel. Everything was delicious, the people were lovely and it felt relaxed despite being full. Would visit again. Vegetarian options: Really impressed with the falafel bagel, also oat milk on request.

What a gem of a place this is! I go here regularly as the combination of the warm welcome, the excellent service and the lovely food/ coffee are always the same. The husband/ wife team who work so hard here are lovely.

Coffee art was amazing. Definitely the top of my list for coffees tasted in Edinburgh. We tried the latte and affagato- WOW Lemon, banana cake & coconut and berry blonde were sampled & the banana bread was amazing!

Absolutely brilliant! Staff are kind, welcoming and friendly. A brilliant example of an independent café. Youre welcome immediately when entering and are cared for. Coffee is delicious Food is also delicious, definitely worth visiting for brunch. We had a sandwich and soup which were delicious. There are gluten free options. To get 6 stars it would be good to see more food and cake options that are gluten free. The café is well kept, clean and has a lovely vibe.

Lovely little cafe

I d read about Roundsquare in the Indy Coffee Guide, I had some time to kill before meeting a friend so I popped on. Staff were really kind, and allowed me to stay right up until closing. Coffee (+art!) incredible, and really yummy bagel too.

Highly recommended coffee and foods. Perfect gluten-free brownies as well.

A lovely coffee shop situated in a very accessible location, the staff are welcoming and kind, I would highly recommend. Furthermore, with a wide range of fantastic drinks and delicious variety of light foods you wont be disappointed here. The atmosphere is vibrant and suitable for families with kids too.

Best breakfast in town, kind and considerate staff.

I used to go to Roundsquare before ownership changed from the two lads who started up the shop to whoever owns it now. Back then it was interesting, the coffee was made well and tasted good, and the conversation was always inviting. Now, however, while the staff are friendly enough, the coffee is very lackluster. I ordered a flat white and it was over-extracted, bitter, and far too milky. Essentially, it tasted as if it were made at Costa as opposed to a specialty coffee house. Dont go here if you ACTUALLY want good coffee. If you are fine with mediocre coffee and want a trendy looking spot to plant your butt and do a few hours of work, then this is... fine. Since I live in the area, I have given Roundsquare several fair chances since the ownership changed, and Ive been disappointed at every instance. While I have no doubt that with additional professional barista training, effective continuous cleaning of their espresso machine, and perhaps a better selection of bean, this place has mega potential, said potential remains unrealised.

Passing through Morningside and thought Id revisit Roundsquare Coffee House. Ive always found the coffee to be consistently good and today was no exception. And the foam art work brought a smile to my face.

Very sweet family-run cafe with really great food and service. I had the salmon and cream cheese on toast and was presented immaculately! Coffee seemed popular for takeaway!

I loved it, I have been there more than once because its delicious. I love how simple yet flavorful are the breakfasts, I didnt like the cake desserts that much, but they where not bad. The coffee is great, but I always prefer the shakes, the one with Oreo is my favorite.

Wow! Recently visited Roundsquare coffee house with my friend, we ordered 2 flat whites, the coffee was not only delicious but the latte art was unbelievably impressive. As a coffee enthusiast I have never seen anything like it. Very unique and creative and the barista Lin (instagram: @linpaluchova) was super friendly and passionate about what she does. We ended up ordering another round of coffees just to see her work! The cafe itself is very warm and inviting with a great atmosphere and a huge selection of pastries and homemade cakes. We will definitely be returning and looking forward to seeing more beautiful latte art.

Fabulous little sneaky Monday off find, wonderful coffee (and impressive latte art skills), with great brunchy lunchy options... So good we visited twice in one day! Because we knew that after a short walk wed be ready to tackle the amazing home-made cakes! The only problem was choosing which ones, banana loaf with peanut butter topping and lemon cake took our fancy this time. We will be back to try the rest

Lovely cafe, great staff and food/drink. However there are high chairs but no changing table. Do not enjoy having to change my baby on the floor of the toilets.

I visited here for the first time yesterday, pleasantly surprised! I always enjoy visiting new cafes and I will be coming back here. I got the granola and detox smoothie, they were both so good! I really like the interior design of the cafe, and another plus, the 2 members of staff who were on shift were very kind and accommodating, if you re passing through morningside and looking for somewhere to eat, check this place out!

Edited to answer the reply. I did check the prices for other eateries in the area which were cheaper or slightly more expensive for a lot more food that isnt microwaved. We ate the food because it was our first meal of the day and the cafe we wanted to visit was closed. To be honest if I was aware of the fact that the jug you microwaved the eggs in wasnt cleaned between use I wouldnt have eaten it at all and would have asked for a refund. £18 for two breakfasts, microwaved eggs, beans and bacon served on 1 and a half slices of toast.

Popped in here today for a cuppa. Ended up ordering food too as the menu was very appealing. Really lovely experience! Great ambiance, fantastic food, lovely pot of tea and Owners very attentive. I will certainly visit again soon! Vegetarian options: Great they have veggie and gluten free options.

Really good!

Popped in here for a bite to eat on a Sunday. It was busy, but there were a few seats available. I had scrambled eggs on toast (with fruit - it was on the breakfast menu). My wife had a filled croissant (cheese) and a cappuccino. Shes a bit particular about her coffee, but she declared it very good. Her croissant was a bit cold in the middle, but my scrambled eggs were freshly made. Nice place.

Their cake selection always looks incredible and their sausage rolls are to die for! Had my first iced latte of the year today and it was absolutely gorgeous!

We cannot believe how good this place was. Their bagels were so delicious, fresh and toasted. We loved the veggie options. We were kindly given 2 slices of cake which was some of the best cake we ve ever had. The owner was so lovely and we cannot recommend this place enough! Do yourself a favour and visit this lovely cafe as soon as possible! Their entire food menu looks so tasty, everything is made with fresh ingredients and coffee is top notch too. I had a pesto mozzy bagel of which managed to take a photo before I finish it in seconds, it was so damn good although I like it cold unlike many others. The service was very speedy and friendly. Can t wait to return and wouldn t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to try amazing food.

I came here for breakfast upon my visit to Edinburgh and had a granola bowl which was so tasty. Im visiting Edinburgh again later this week and aim to come here again! Lovely atmosphere and great music playing. Vegetarian and vegan options available, too!

Just wanted to share our great experience at Roundsquare Coffee House. The manager couldn t have been any more helpful, when I said I required GF bread, he was going out to buy some but turned out already available. Very tasty bacon butty on GF bread and 1 bacon butty on sourdough bread amazing service. Will be back as felt at ease and didn t have to worry about cross contamination 10/10 My new favourite cafe xxx

Nice coffee and cake, but they really dont seem to be taking the pandemic at all seriously. Cakes on open display right next to where customers walk past, staff coming right up to tables to serve and chat with no mask/gloves etc. Tables quite close together - probably far enough apart while sitting there, but customers walking past come very close. Contact tracing was by means of an open visitor book, so everyone can see the names and contact details of all the other customers.

Just lovely, 7 ladies turned up after cinema and had afternoon cakes and soup, lovely cafe, different from the run of the mill, huge variety of scones, I had a fab layered delicate honey cake. Delicious... and so friendly and efficient staff.

Coffee was not very strong, since the flat white was almost double the correct size. The milk art work was great but that does make a good coffee. Also sadly no filter only espresso based drinks.

Everything about this place is perfect. Space is clean and open. Delicious coffee and great selection of sandwiches, croissants and cakes. Atmosphere is friendly and chilled out. Would also recommend if you appreciate some tidy latte art.

Round Square is possibly the finest coffee shop in Edinburgh. Its attraction does not lie in its rather shabby decor nor in the comfort of its seating, rather it serves as an eclectic melting pot for the great and good of the area, the beauties and belters and the loved and unloved . The coffee is good if made by Tene - he is a remarkable artist, raconteur and bon viveur. His wit is legendary, his banter coruscating, his size less than average but what charisma, what eyes, what a shredded and finely ripped torso. Perfection gilded by a compelling smile The cakes are sweet and interesting, the home roasted beans redolent of a Colombian rainforest and altogether the experience transcends the mediocrity of life and any externally imposed brexit moroseness He is assisted by Lucas

NICE COFFEE AND DESSERTS I really liked this place. I came at the end of the day so the display with desserts was a little empty and I wouldnt be surprised if the really greats desserts had already been taken. However the brownie and cake that I tried were quite delicious. As standard, you can see the picture of the cool dragon on the coffee foam. And even though its posted like a million times and I knew exactly what to expect, it was still cool to get and my flat white was decent. Great place to get a fairly priced cup of coffee and dessert if youre feeling it

This is a great spot for coffee that I have frequented a few times when in Edinburgh. The service is friendly and they also have a good selection of tasty treats to have with your coffee.

This used to be one of the best cafes in Edinburgh, however it has recently been taken over by new owners and the coffee has taken a sharp turn for the worse... really disappointing. Won t be returning any time soon.
