McLarens on the Corner is a friendly pub and restaurant for all occasions on Edinburgh’s Holy Corner. We open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner and our restaurant uses the finest Scottish produce, making us one of Edinburgh’s premier places to eat. We offer a range of cocktails, wines, beers, and spirits which can be enjoyed inside our dog-friendly bar, or in our fabulous garden terraces area on those summer days. McLarens on the Corner is perfect for private events, from birthdays and weddings to group bookings for larger parties looking to watch live sport. Whatever the occasion, a catch up over coffee, dinner in our restaurants, a private event or just to enjoy some cocktails in Edinburgh, our venue has you covered.
Great food, great ambiance, but what stood out the most was the friendliness of the staff, in particular Charlie. Even though they were extremely busy, she was attentive, super efficient, kept communication open regarding a tab and was just stellar overall!
A small group of us went here a few weeks ago for a roast lunch. Despite having a booking, we stood for over 5 minutes to get seated. We all ordered roast beef and it was quite a small portion and wasn’t cooked very well.
First time there because they had special £10.00 lunch deal. Nice outdoor area in front. Food is nice, not bad for a pub. Up market pub. I was charged extra for syrup that I did not ordered. It used to be a bank of Scotland and they kept the safe. Great for photo but would not.order the curry noodle again as it does not taste like curry at all.
We went today and sat outside, no one came to take our order, we went and asked inside they advised us to scan the online menu which was outdated. We were unable to order through their app as advised, someone came outside didn’t even cleaned the table and told us that for the items they had as bakery we had to go inside and carry them outside. Like for real? Are we supposed to wash the dishes afterwards? Really unprofessional cold and bad quality service.I have attached a pic from bakery items they serve as well so you can understand quality wise.
We have walked past Mclarens on the Corner many times but never been tempted to go in as the outside eating area and drive always look such a mess. We were recently told that the food is quite good and that they have offers so decided to give it a try. It was a sunny afternoon so we sat in the garden area at the front , quite pleasant but a bit noisy with the amount of traffic that passes through Holy Corner. We ordered the lunchtime deal of a main for £10 and had Fried Chicken Croll along with a glass of Merlot. This was followed by the cake & coffee deal at £4.95. With the service charge the total bill was £46.30. Food all tasted good although portions were small and a bit pricier than you would pay at Black Ivy or Montpeliers. It was quite pleasant sitting outside in the sun despite the traffic noise but this area could be much improved if a decent hedge was planted along the fence to the pavement and between Tesco. If all the pods and wooden huts etc were removed more tables could be added and a more coherent design would make the whole experience much better. We will be back to try food again soon as the menu had much more than just the lunch deal. Well we have now been back and this time tried the Steak Bavette and Fish and chips. The Steak Bavette was good although could have been warmer and Fish & Chips good also but mushy peas runny & cold. This was followed by a Lemon Posset and a Sticky Toffee pudding. Both looked good but the Lemon Posset was a very strange consistency and not set so was returned. This was all washed down with a very nice bottle of house Shiraz for £20. Overall the food was good with some issues that if sorted would make eating at Mclarens a more frequent date for us.
Great place.. from the building to the food the experience was excellent.. can’t fault it. We were met with a genuine warmth that lasted throughout; just the right level of attentive to make you feel cared about. Food was really tasty and well presented, great lunchtime fair. This place was a recommendation and a very welcome one. We will definitely be back when we’re in the city next and will definitely pass this recommendation on.
My son booked a table for 6 adults and 2 kids for Mothers Day. The table was booked for 4.30pm on arrival they were taken to their seats. We arrived just after them. No menus were given and nobody came to attend to us. After 15/20 mins we had to ask for menus. After another 10/15 mins our order was taken. Drinks were brought over and the Mothers Day Prosecco was a nice touch. We asked for water but none was brought over. 5.30 came and went with no sign of food. At this point I asked about our order only to be told they had just got very busy. At no point where we advised of any delays. Surely if this was the case then we should have been advised. 5.43 a waitress came and told us our food would be exactly 4mins. 5.55pm and still no food. My son at this point went to speak to whoever was in charge and he complained at this point. He was told it was getting sorted and that they were on it! The food eventually arrived but it was apparent it had been sitting for a good while, it was cold and very uninviting. I complained at this point and explained how angry and disappointed we all were. We have three diabetics in our group and two kids who had to sit for an hour and a half for cold food. The food was rejected and we left the restaurant. A Mothers Day celebration very much spoilt. On reflection I didn’t think the food was worth the prices they were charging either. We won’t be going back and we won’t be making any recommendations
We had our wedding party here after the previous venue double booked us - but at the end of the day, we felt so lucky that we ended up at Mclarens. We had booked Teller and the atmosphere was great. The guests were impressed by the interior. The staff who served us were friendly and really patient with our rather tipsy bunch. Overall, very happy with everything and would recommend to anyone looking for a private venue hire
I joint a Christmas party outing on Sunday the 15 of December with a total of23 people, the pre-chosen menu was not what anyone of the party expected, given that I have been executive Chef for the past 40 years of which I spend 17 years at the George InterContinental, I had chosen the 2 course option, main course Pan fried Cod fillet, (100) gr, overcooked with 5 surf clams, and 6 halves of baby new potatoes, 3 pieces of samphire and 6 Broad beans, it came served in a deep pasta plate, because the the cream sauce was at least 8 oz, and dessert Christmas pudding which came a mini individual Christmas pudding, with custard, all this for I believe £37.50 per person, I now only to well that Christmas parties are money making business and its focus on profitability, but I think on this occasion it Was a rip-off. The food cost on the menu was les then £3.00 . How does anyone justifies this price is beyond my understanding, What a shame that it spoiled the night out with friends, I can only assume that the head chef and his team are none professionals and the entire kitchen team has lost its pride of cooking.
There with my son and grandson great lunch, and loadsa for sale outside
Extended family Xmas lunch upstairs in function rooms. Venue was lovely as were the serving staff. Food was absolutely awful, served tepid and the portion size was ridiculously small and not very good. Such a shame as well never hold another function there.
Lovely welcome, great food, very stylish decor.
A wonderful meal. Thank you. The Seabass was fabulous
Im sure I just booked the wrong time on the wrong day, as my booking was based on previous reviews. Sadly, we experienced slow service, were asked to look at menus only to go and order and find out there were no roast offerings left. We should have been advised of anything that had run out before we looked at the menu. The dinners we did order were slow at arriving even after chasing up. They were luke warm. In fairness the staff member did acknowledge our unhappiness by reducing our bill. The excuse of a large party delaying our meal; well sorry thats not for your guests to know as it makes you look disorganised. We didnt order dessert or coffee. Instead we left and grabbed an icecream at Lucas. Just a disappointing experience overall for us.
Was in for lunch with 4 friends, booked for 1pm. It wasnt overly busy however we did wait awhile for our food order to be taken. When our drinks order was taken one friend asked the male server what came with the pate (I.e toast or oatcakes) was told that it was a new menu and he would go ask, some 15 mins later we asked another member of staff if we could order as we had been waiting at least 15-20mins, the female server was asked what came with the pate but we got they same reply, they did go and ask and advise that it was toast. One friend asked for a long vodka (without the vodka) it came back with tonic and with a very small dashboard of lime cordial no bitter so it was returned. The server then came back to advise that there was no more lime cordial. We settled for lemonade and bitter. The food itself was lovely but the sevice was not the best on this occasion.
Really great experience at McLarens, as always! The bartender Milo was amazing and accommodating to all of my classic cocktail requests, giving me lots of new knowledge along the way too. Will definitely bring some friends back here soon!
Beautiful space, great brunch. Nice and comforting place to eat for a visiting mama from the states
Always love a wee McLarens visit the staff are always so helpful and friendly and the food is tasty with great ambiance. Just popped in for a quick drink the last time and didn t feel rushed and made very welcome!
Sunday Roast was okay. The staff was a little bit all over the place, maybe they are distracted by their headphones they have to communicate with. They forgot always something, not just on our table. Lovely designed clean place. Wheelchair accessibility: Viel Platz, um sich bequem mit einem Rollstuhl zu bewegen.
Honestly such a lovely lunch! Lovely atmosphere and quick delicious service. Specifically our server Beth was extremely informative and accommodating to any requests! Can t wait to return :)
Nice friendly atmosphere and great attentive service from Olly.
Can be recommended
Very good service. The waiter offered a potentially better table before ordering and asked about any allergies, very attentive, very friendly.
Lovely spot, came in for some food and drinks. The bartender Kai was great chat and made me a lovely old fashioned. Will be back!!!
Had private dinner for my sons 21st absolutely wonderful service from Ollie and Kai who couldnt do enough for us. Set 3 course meal was fabulous. Highly recommend private events here. Thankyou Ollie and Kai for the best of service!
Food was as usual overpriced and not even close to getting value for money and as usual too nice to say anything at the time. Absolutely sick of the rip off prices in Edinburgh, for whats served up, should be half the price. Its called greed.
Great atmosphere and really helpful, friendly staff. A special mention to Lynne, who made us feel so welcome and was so informative about the menu. I would definitely recommend McLarens.
The staff were all very nice and friendly. It did take a little bit longer than expected to get our coffee s and teas. The cakes were delicious as well.
I came in here with a few of my friends for lunch, the food was fantastic and our server Emma was so lovely and helpful! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options!
Lovely location and quirky interior. Food is delicious, but some portions quite small for the price you have to pay (like veggie wellington). We have been coming here for a while now and will continue to do so.
Was very good, had food and a drink. Was quiet as we were there during the day Vegetarian options: One of our dishes was Vegan Food : 4/5 |
We arrived for lunch. Drinks were brought quite fast, but had to wait over 35 minutes to get our food. The cheesestake was served without any traces of cheese, bit dissappointing we had to ask for mayo which took then almost 10 minuten to bring us. When we asked for the bill it took another 10 minutes before they came back so we could pay. In all, food wasn t bad but nog special either. Sevice was just too slow.
We recently had the pleasure of dining at Maclarens, and the experience was nothing short of fabulous. We sat in the beautiful outdoor area where we were warmly welcomed by the staff. However, it was our server, Beth, who truley was exceptional. Beth was attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable meal. They were really helpful and told us all about the menu items - including explaining a Croll. Very yummy! Their warm and friendly demeanor added a personal touch to our dining experience, making us feel valued and well taken care of. Beth s exceptional service truly turned a good meal into a great one. Beth was an absolute star, a veritable maestro of the dining room! They didnt just serve our brunch they also served up an experience brimming with delight and magic. The food was also delicious and myself and partner loved it for brunch!!!! We will be back for pancakes and the fabulous service.
Had a lovely time at this pub! Excellent service from Addy :)
We went into McLarens to celebrate a friends birthday with drinks and had an amazing evening. Emma, our server, was excellent throughout. We were served a fantastic selection of cocktails recommended to us by Emma. The lovely Emma made great suggestions as we all really enjoyed our cocktails. Without a doubt, we will return soon.
Added a 10 % tip without asking Could not recommend. Food : 5/5
Had such a lovely time here today! A perfect escape from the busy city centre. Lynne was incredibly helpful and an absolute gem altogether. Definitely worth a visit!!
We arrived for breakfast and received a fairly lukewarm reception. Waiter took our order - my friends drink arrived, mine arrived 7 minutes later (cranberry juice and a breakfast tea). We waited 25 minutes and then my friends eggs florentine arrived, although delicious it wasnt very warm - my bacon roll arrived 5 minutes after, no apology! The food was exceptionally good but the service wasnt.
Emma provided amazing service!!
Had an amazing time at mclarens, service from Beth was 10/10 they killed it. Very friendly and helpful and awesome and cool
A great place to enjoy a meal then adjourn to watch the football. We even got a pie at half-time. Highly recommended.
Gyattttt
Came in for the Sunday roast and was stoked about it after reading the menu. It turned out to be an expensive disappointment. The portion was small, the cauliflower cheese was actually old Mac and cheese and the steak was small and extremely chewy. I only got 3 tiny potatoes and they were so solid I couldnt even get the fork through 1 of them. I left hungry and disappointed
Very friendly staff who made our friend feel very special on his birthday
The food was OK. But not what I would call good.
It was very friendly and staff was really attentive. I had Tiger prawn rigatoni with generous samphire. So fresh and delicious! We had the baked camembert to share. We couldn t stop eating
Excellent All Round
Long waiting time aside, the meat served was of poor quality and caused me significant heartburn, an issue I dont usually have. Two friends who ate with me experienced the same problem. We will avoid this place in the future. The waiter was very friendly, which earns the restaurant a star. If it wasnt for him, it would be one star.
A warm place, the welcome is very friendly! We ate very well
This place should be bustling but its not. Service is terrible. At least 6 staff in this morning too busy chatting to each other to serve the only 2 tables in. Front of house manager diverting staff from concentrating on customers by chatting. The lads leaving the girls to do all the serving. Coffees arrive 10 mins before food. Long wait, then food arrives and gets cold while we wait for sauces. Really disappointing.
Visiting from the States and this was absolutely our favorite place we ate at. I tried the fish and chips at a lot of places while visiting and it was incredible here. If youre visiting and looking for a great place to eat and grab a drink I would highly recommend it.
I had a great time with my darling and her friends. I like the couple. They were really good people while the restaurant was a good meeting place
Amazing place, amazing atmosphere and great food.
Service & staff were great, food was lovely, bonus being dog friendly!
Lovely full Scottish breakfast. Staff were good, food was all slightly overdone but there are worst issues in the world and that is just my taste. Will return.
The bad: weirdest fish in a fish and chips Ive ever had. It was like it was freeze dried and then re heated. Like biting into a fish flavoured crunchie bar lol. Chips, veg and chocolate mousse all fine but nothing special. The good: nice friendly staff and attentative. Good cocktails with a decent amount of booze in
We didnt try the food, we just went to have a few drinks. The bartender was a true professional and very friendly. We will definitely return.
I hired their parlour room last year for my sister s baby shower and recently for my daughter s birthday party. The room is absolutely gorgeous and the food was great and arrived perfectly every time. The staff who bartended and served us were so helpful and always asked if we needed anything. Kai and Beth were especially wonderful at my daughters party, they set everything up perfectly, had great communication throughout and were just really nice people generally. Fantastic place overall.
Great pub on a weekday! Pie and mash was excellent. Dont be put off by the sports live here signs :-)
Great service good prices I would recommend the food was amazing especially the haggis rolls very filling
Lovely meal for my dads birthday. Excellent food and mocktails. Service was a bit slow. Will be back. Comes with old safe from previous Bank of Scotland being there.
Lovely grown up pub that also serves good coffee and food.
Pleasant cocktail bar with friendly service and generous good food
Nice plant burger. Busy day with rugby on but good atmosphere, nice decor. Toilets downstairs.
The staff were excellent. The food was lovely but it was too noisy and far too many children running up and down. Hopefully quieter midweek Kid-friendliness: I don t mean to be kid unfriendly but there were far too many for it to be an enjoyable experience So yes the place is kid friendly
Had a lovely birthday breakfast. Great food, including vegan options with a super friendly service even though they were busy. Great place to hang out.
Fantastic service, great cold town beer (the NEIPA is our favorite) and food, the bar bites are gorgeous... A must place to be!
As per the previous review, same experience. I understand difficulties, but some are perfectly manageable and avoidable. Also booked in advance through the open table app. Arrived about 5 mins late, and still had to wait over 10 mins to be seated, after having 3 different members of staff fumble around with the booking screen trying to find my name with me having confirmation on OpenTable. Whats the point of booking a table? How difficult can it be to find a name in a calendar? Why does it take 3 people? Is this perfectly avoidable and manageable? It is. I have also asked for a quieter spot, as per the managements own guidance in the review replies - no success. I have tried doing so calling twice in advance - they did not pick up. The answering machine is full, so you cant leave a message. Is this perfectly avoidable and manageable? It is. Like the previous reviewer, the waiter saw us to our table and then disappeared - who needs menus, right? Is this perfectly avoidable and manageable? It is. When one of my party ordered a soup for a starter, apparently there was no more soup of the day on the menu, and it was something else. Bringing utensils, did not bring a spoon. Is this perfectly avoidable and manageable? It is. Attempt to order another item on the menu failed. At this point, its better for the staff to say what you do have instead of customers playing menu bingo. Is this perfectly avoidable and manageable? It is. Like the other review, took about an hour to get 3 starters - a soup and 2 pieces of bread with some mushrooms on them. I could have done this in a fraction of that time myself, with one hand. Took about another hour for the mains which, again, were not complicated. Shocking stuff. Like the other review, witnessed multiple people around us discontent, wanting to speak to the manager, or just leaving. Nice atmosphere, isnt it. Do not eat here until they issue a statement of what exactly went wrong and how they fixed (noticed past tense and implied completion) the problems for good. I felt sorry for the staff and this will be the first and only time I gave a pity tip - next time Ill just plan a backup place and leave. On that note, wasnt even sure who to tip, because been tended to by something like 4 different people (who, as nice and apologetic as they were, did not and could not materially help the situation). Looks this place belongs to some restaurant management group - take note, all these virtue-signalling replies in reviews mean nothing. One would think belonging to some group implies some level of process and standards. Nope - just means look them up and avoid all of the places under their management. Anyone in that organisation with management in their job title should be allowed to go do something else, save the group some money, because they are doing the opposite of that.
Very nice place to have breakfast. Very warm atmosphere like most British pubs (literally given the presence of a few tables with the possibility of lighting a gas fire in the middle!). The place is large which means you dont feel cramped and dont have too much noise. We had different breakfast dishes and everything was delicious for a fair price (excellent Scottish breakfast for me!). The staff is very pleasant and the service efficient.
Fabulous! Great food (the Featherblade Ragu and The Tandoori chicken Skewers). Service and atmosphere really good.
Music was far too loud. I could not hear my wife talking and she was sitting next to me.i just dont understand why venues like this have the music so loud.if you are out for a meal you want to be able to talk with the family or friends you are with. If the music is loud the other people who are in the bar or restaurant have to start shouting at each other so it makes the noise level unbearable. Come on mclarens turn down the volume if not, I we wont be back.
Dog friendly, good food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, well priced.
Good food, great service
All outstanding. Atmosphere, service and food! Would definitely recommend! Cant believe this place used to be a bank back in my uni days haha
The food and drinks were a 4/5, but the serving size was too small. Paying £20 for less than a half plate of food is ridiculous (turkey dinner) and we walked away feeling hungry.
not first visit and not last, food is sooo good
Such a disappointing Christmas night out which we had been looking forward to for so long. Our table for 4 people was booked for a Christmas 3 course meal with Prosecco at 6pm on 15th Dec 2023. When we 1st arrived, the back ground music was Background Music, as it should be at 6pm. But it was turned up very loud within half an hour of starting our meal, to the point that my table asked for the volume to be turned down as we couldnt hear ourselves speak or hear what the waitresses were saying to us.The other 3 tables next to ours also complained about the noise level of the music. (we were told by Lauren the manageress that the volume couldnt be adjusted. It was so very very loud that we couldnt hear ourselves think, let alone speak. We were made to feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome by the manageress and in the end we rushed our meal down, stopped drinking and left to go over the road to a lovely little restaurant who made us feel more than welcome and appreciated our umpteen orders of cocktails and drinks that we had with them. Sadly I will not be back to McLarens on the corner, nor would I recommend it to anyone.
We visited for a Birthday Sunday lunch Great food , service a bit slow initially but overall fine and bonus for discount for January visits We always enjoy our visits to McLarens so will be back !
Nice bar and restaurant. Didnt have any food.
They had a musician in, while he was decent it being fed through the sound system far too loud that half our group just left after we couldnt even speak to each other despite shouting and the other half only stayed for 20 minutes more after I found us some seats at the the very back of the restaurant. In an attempt to find somewhere quiet. Its now the next day and my ears still hurt from being in this place. People where also smoking right infront of the main door so when people came it it came through really strong to point where people thought people where smoking inside. I also had a stranger stop me as I was initially entering the place pretending she hadnt seen me ages and that we where friends just so she could escape being intimated and harrased by a strange guy who said she thought was homeless outside the main door. On that same theme the location of the bathrooms is also problematic as goes out of the main door into another and down into winding coriders of the basement which definitely can put womens safety at risk.
Do not recommend. Found portion sizes to be small and the food to be below the standard expected for the price. Emailled to let them know we had a bad experience but never heard anything back.
Amazing transformation of the bank building with delicious food and great service!
Good food and a great choice of cocktails. Nice ambiance, service was excellent -Shout out to waitress Jasmine who was fab Vegetarian options: Mushroom Wellington excellent.
One of the loveliest Sunday roasts I ve had in a long time! The downstairs area is very pretty, clean and tidy and thought has clearly gone into the seating so no one s too close to each other. All the staff that served us were very pleasant, friendly and chatty. The roast chicken was brilliant - cooked perfectly and still juicy. All the accompaniments were delicious and the fact you could order more gravy was a godsend for me! Thoroughly enjoyable and we ll definitely be back.
Amazing! Such a warm atmosphere, friendly staff, great food and drinks! And more importantly all are welcome! Children, dogs, young and old! Love it!!!
Nice setting, pleasant staff, food a bit pricey with small portions.
Lovely place in Brunstfield for cocktails and nice casual food. My go-to in Morningside.
This place is really cosy, and colourful with great service and food. I had lunch there and the ratios were perfect for me, you dont feel ready to explode. The waitresses were smiling, and polite and did an amazing service. In terms of food, the taste was there and the chipsweres brilliant as the tartare sauce too. I recommend to try!
Just stopped here for a drink. Has little fires on some tables, brilliant idea !!
Above all else, great staff!
Excelent food and service and good local beer. A very nice experience in a very cosy and nice place! Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options too.
Have been several times for drinks and nibbles with friends. Love the atmosphere and decor, service has always been good too. Dont know when Ill come again though because they took the truffle fries off the menu, so disappointed, they were amazing. Bring them back!
Out for family dinner, but the music was so loud everyone at other tables were shouting to be heard and we couldnt have a conversation. We decided to get pudding at Tesco next door and take it home where we could talk comfortably. Real shame as the food is great, but the volume spoilt it for us. Staff were not very happy being asked to turn the music down a bit.
A relaxed and well designed restaurant and bar which is great for meeting up with friends and family.
Great place to eat and great service
Great cocktails in buzzy atmosphere. Also holds regular quiz nights. Dog friendly.
A nice place, with very helpful staff, classic and very good menu, prices are decent!!
Went for breakfast, lovely place, breakfast was nice too. Not amazing, but nothing to complain about either
Top class. We were very well looked after. Top beer, food and service.
Lovely atmosphere, child & dog friendly. There is a great option of gluten free menu choices. Staff are always very welcoming and attentive. One of my favourite brunch spots on edinburgh. Dietary restrictions: Fab gluten free menu
Excellent brunch. Lots of space, delicious food and excellent staff. Highly recommended!
Terrific food and great service. Dog-friendly.
Excellent food and excellent service
Dietary restrictions: We told them our allergies and Jasmine brought us the allergen menu. They actually fixed me something that wasn t on the dinner menu but was dairy free and delicious!
Incredible breakfast, friendly staff and fashionable decor
Love the interior design The food is fine, just a but pricey, though expected Service is good Overall a nice place for a relaxing meal and chat
Food was good service excellent they really looked after us
The place is really nice and the most of the wait staff was polite and friendly but some others (the head waiter and manager) were a bit rude and made us feel uncomfortable. The food was not cheap, I took eggs Benedict and the bread and bacon were burnt. We then ordered some cocktails and it took ages for them to arrive. Will not be going again. The place is not worth the price.
Delicious food and great friendly service
Great food ......poor service ....
A good place to eat dinner or hang out with friends. Most of the dishes were very tasty (we went there several times and the only thing I didnt like was the Wellington). Friendly service and nice atmosphere.
Difficult to review. Its a very attractive place, especially the outdoor part on a sunny day. Unfortunately, our meal was not good. The coffee was fine, but the breakfast was not well done and I definitely wont be returning. The head staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, for example they did not explain the set up so we did not know until it was too late there was an option to eat outside, which is what we really wanted to do. On the other hand, the waitresses were very kind, and the drinks were good.
Nice atmosphere, quick staff. Bit noisy because of the live music, but after all it was Fri night. Service
Awesome Scottish breakfast and service at McLarens. Guess what they have Singapore Sling cocktail but it was too early to drink for breakfast. Vegetarian options: Yes they have many vegetarian items even the Scottish breakfast. Kid-friendliness: Yes, especially indoors. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes but toileting will be below the spiral stairs.
Great place on Edinburghs Holy Corner. Ive only been for drinks. No complaints! Outdoor seating is nice.
Nice but unfortunately nowhere near as great as it was before pandemic. Very
My friends and I were in for cocktails and coffee. Great choice of cocktails and delicious coffee. The decor and ambience was spectacular. Bit pricey but worth it.
Recommend for brunch
Nice place
Very cozy restaurant! Rosa served us this even and was absolutely wonderful! Keep up the great work!
Had excellent lunch with grandchildren and friends
Attended a special wine tasting event . The wine was very good but the food was better! Excellent service in a beautiful dining room. Highly recommend
Best meal weve had in the UK after 3 weeks travelling. Beautiful ambience, and great prices.
This is a gem of a restaurant, I was so impressed with the staff they were attentive to our needs and so welcoming. The food was the best I have had in Edinburgh try the carrot soup it was amazing ,chef even shared his recipe.
Great food, loved sitting outside in the pretty courtyard area
Food was superb, service likewise. Hard to knock. The pie was magnificent
Visited for breakfast. Staff were welcoming and the place is beautiful. Unfortunately the food was average at best. I had a lorne sausage and poached egg croll . The croll was very very dry as it had been overly toasted, and the egg was over cooked (the yolk was like chalk). They did give plenty of ketchup to re-hydrate the food but it wasn t a pleasant experience to eat. Coffee was lovely.
What a shame! We booked a dining table for food 6 hungry men and they apparently stopped food 15 minutes before we arrived, so we had to leave. When a dining table is booked, food is expected. In fairness they did offer fish and chips, but we walked by multiple establishments where we could have got fish and chips if we wanted. It was such a shame as it looked like a good place. It would be good if they took comments on board and developed their business instead of trying to justify their poor communication. Luckily there was a fine establishment up the road called Montpeliers that came to the rescue which I highly recommend.
Comfortable spot for my first meal upon arrival. Service was great too.
Chandelier selfie
Very varied food and drink menu. Affordable prices, picturesque and beautiful place.
Great.
Ordered a soup for my lunch and my partner ordered just the garlic fries. Got my soup but my partner waited 30 mins for the fries and never recieved them so we went in and asked to cancel them. Was met with polite waitress but bit of an odd service.
The food is a little more expensive but of good quality and tastes great. Furthermore, the waiters are extremely friendly and welcoming. I dislike that a 10% service fee is already included (-1 star). If I can choose the tip by myself, I can also value the waiter s work. Food
A modern bar, that is decorated to a very high standard. Food was excellent with portions being on the large side.
Food was good but service was very average. Staff everywhere but were not attentive and it took ages to take orders.
## WARNING: DOGS (INCLUDING THOSE THE SIZE OF A PONY) ARE PERMITTED THROUGHOUT THE RESTAURANT ## Whilst this might be welcome news to some, many others will find it a massive turn-off, and this is not made clear on their Google maps page. Food was so-so. The batter on the monkfish taco was so thick that the texture of the fish was completely overwhelmed by the batter. Sirloin steak was ok. But, in fairness, the accompanying sauce was excellent. After our space was invaded by a couple of horses disguised as dogs, we asked our waiter to find another table for us. However it appeared he expected us to carry our own plates, rather than provide this basic courtesy. Not a good look. Won t be back.
Great catch up with old uni friends. Lovely meal and nice drinks. We did outstay our welcome though.
Lovely
Beautiful venue. Excellent food and very attentive staff. Fair prices
Warm atmosphere. Super friendly staff. Delicious food and Dog friendly
My brother was curious this place for while. That brought us inside. Interior is exceptional. I loved paintings, and bit of info about Duncan McLarens opposite the bar. Service is very helpful and chatty. They have one of my fav. Cold Town beer grapefruit IPA. We took that. I had little hunger, so ordered mac and cheese with becon added. Flatbread with carrot hummus for young one. Sticky toffe for my mom. She wanted fresh squizeed juice, but its served till 3pm. Everything Mouthwatering!
Just had a couple drinks outside. staff too a long time to ask what we wanted. and every drink felt the same. lots of ice and little drink
This place has vegetarian options, but they are very small compared to the other options. The butternut squash steak and beetroot salad were both tiny and disappointing. I appreciate that the staff agreed to take one of the meals off our bill.
The food was amazing, the service was even better and overall we had a great time. We would definitely come back when were back in Edinburgh.
Amazing gluten free service. Beautiful interior. Friendly staff & great pub quiz!
We enjoyed a late dinner which was perfectly done. The meat really was medium-rare the mashrooms properly flavoured and the drinks heavy. Staff was courteous, kind and talkative. One of them even gave me a cigarette as we were there till closing. Absolutely perfect evening.
Fun pub with a really nice vibe to it. Good drinks and nice staff. The fish and chips were good but can t comment on the rest of the food. It s a clean and upscale kind of place. Good for a third date
Good quality food in a pleasant atmosphere. Seating not too close to other tables. Food menu varied including types of burgers too. Quick service, friendly staff. Tables on 3 floors and outside. Kid-friendliness: Smaller sized versions of main menu.
Menu very limited. unless you like chicken. Used to be much better choices. Complaint about my meal but nothing done about it. Service was poor,, too many dis-organised staff long wait drinks and missing food items . Manager unhelpful. Thank you for your reply below, however this is not what we ordered, so not our table, therefore someone else who had a unsatisfactory meal that evening.
Very good indeed.
We had my daughters baby shower there last week. The venue was amazing, staff made us all feel welcome + they didnt rush us between meals. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for private hire rooms.
This place is local to us and I went on for a quick lunch with my toddler today, on a whim. Normally I don t feel welcome in restaurants or bars like this with my very young child but the young man serving us was so kind and gentle. We were just there for 40mins but I never felt rushed. Toddler loved the kids Mac+cheese! Will come back for the service alone! Thank you waiter, you made our day. Vegetarian options: Usual veggie options Kid-friendliness: Staff member offer us plastic cups and cutlery, brought us a high chair and was very kind to my toddler. Good kids menu!
It was very good went there for my nephews birthday.
This is where to go for great food, drinks, coffee & service .
Dinner for three on a Tuesday evening, our first time in the main restaurant. So good! Friendly staff and an ideal acoustic for conversation, helped by the alcove-style seating we had. Food was really tasty (pan-seared cod, steak bavette, plant burger) with perfectly seasoned accompanying vegetables. Any small negatives? The plant burger was quite small, and served in a cold rather than toasted bun, but that hardly detracted from our overall enjoyment of this fine eatery. Well be back!
Lovely bar as soon as you walk in. Bit pricey but worth it for something special.
Lovely place good food great staff
Fantastic food and really lovely staff, highly recommend it
Really lovely setting. Food was lovely and great portions. We were really impressed by the cheerful, pleasant and friendly staff. Will definitely be returning. Thank you for a nice evening. 12/12/2023 Vegetarian options: I had the vegetarian haggis Wellington and can highly recommend from a non vegetarian
Lovely and friendly staff
Not as good as usual. Booked table for festive lunch. Nothing special. Table not ready and no crackers and no decorations. Food good though. Real downside was the restaurant was very cold and we ate lunch with our coats on Food
The staff are really friendly here and the cocktails are lovely.
Lovely meal at a good-sized table and not too loud on a Friday evening at the beginning of December!
