Birdog in Edmonton

Food was ok. Price was pretty decent. Ham on the pizza wasnt too salty which is good. Burger was a bit boring with nothing but an aoli type sauce and pickles but it was ok. Fries were decent. Probably closer to a 3.5 but reasonably priced so they get some slack.

The food was delicious! The service was fantastic.

The cliquey atmosphere here is definitely noticeable with some of the waitresses catering to one group over others. My drink came half full like someone took a big gulp out of it before bringing it to my table. I told one of the waitresses and she said that s how it s made lol as if I didn t just have the same drink 10 min ago and it was brought out filled close to the top (mind you the photo of drink in the menu shows it s filled close to the top). The 3 stars are for the other waiter that actually listened and brought me a properly made drink. It wasn t even a second thought for him. If I m expected to pay full price then I expect a properly made drink!

Food was very, very good. Positions are kinda small for the price but quality is very good. Service was very personal. It was a relaxing atmosphere in the early evening. They try to make it into a nightclub later in the night.

Decent overall. Good service while we were ordering. Food was cooked well. Nothing outstanding, but nothing to complain about either. So pretty good! A decent place to find and try, catch a game, or probably good for a business lunch/dinner. Not a place that I d frequent, but something worth trying once. Give it a shot.

Great service and friendly staff. Food was delicious, especially the Baked Brie over fries. Sweet, savory and crunchy and overall just a great dish! Would recommend for a date night. Great atmosphere for a group as well!

I love this place! On the weekends, it s busy and buzzin!! If you re looking for a place to have a quiet conversation, this won t be the place for you as it is loud and crowded. However, the service is awesome! We recently went with a group of 12 people and the server called us all by name all night long - it was an endearing personal touch!! They also have a DJ on the weekends later on in the night, and the music is top notch!

food was phenomenal, everything was fresh and delicious. Drinks were also very good, their cocktails were delicious and everything about this restaurant was amazing. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good place to eat

My least favourite of the century hospitality group. I will give it another try but was disappointed in the very cliquey feel when I went in for a couple of drinks. A group at one end of the bar where the bartender decided to stay and hangout and leave our drinks empty for longer than appreciated. Long enough that we weren t even able to get our bill so we left our money on the counter and left. Also, servers seemed to stay at tables for a lengthy period of time. Nothing wrong with being friendly and hospitable but seemed other patrons weren t getting some attention that was deserved.

Can t say enough good things about this place!! Great music! Atmosphere and drinks.

Tried the steak and frites it was very mid nothing special steak was barely seasoned and was overcooked wasn t bad but wasn t good. Brussels sprouts were amazing as well as my fiends pizza. Nice vibes but seems a bit chaotic nothing that special

Attended BIRDOG while visiting Edmonton from Calgary for PBR. Made a reservation for 5 and table was ready when we got there and was perfect with lots of room. We were given service very quickly, I got the Watermelon Sugar Fly and it was amazing and definitely worth it. I didn t want to eat too much so I got the Brussel sprouts and wow there s too many good things to say, I even got my Brussel sprout hating friends to say they were great!! Service was fast and our server was very kind along with the manager who took our shot order!! Overall the food, drinks, and atmosphere were incredible and I would definitely go back on my next YEG visit.

We had a work function there and the staff were amazing. We had appetizers that were really good, the drinks were delicious and I loved the live music!

Had a date night here last night thinking we were going to walk into a party atmosphere with live band no live band and last call was at 9:45 we arrived at 9. It all worked out for the absolute best anyways! We wanted to order the oysters but were told they were out so we proceeded to order a bunch of other items, Kimchi Mac n cheese - which is small enough to be a perfect appetizer for 2 and so yummy and flavourful Salmon Crudo - perfect portion, fresh and tasty with a bit of heat Beef Tartare - partly an interactive experience served on a marrow bone, you mix in ur yolk and desired level of Dijon mustard, nice chunks of beef, classic flavours yummy! Sticky Ribs - to die for!! Just order them Honey bunny Pizza - we ate it for breakfast next day and it was great, again with some heat Lastly our fabulous server Kam (who was the real STAR of the show) she brought us some magically acquired OYSTERS!!!! Which were on the house..she was so attentive, friendly, well versed in the menu and fun! We will be back time and again for the wonderful service and great food! Also ordered the dragonsfruit cocktail and espresso martini, both expertly crafted. No pics cause we were enjoying our night too much!

I had much higher hopes for Birddog; unfortunately, they greatly underperformed. To start, the portion size would only be reasonable at that price if the food was properly made, but much of the dish was missing or poorly done. I had the gnocchi, and my partner, the truffle grilled cheese. The gnocchi came underdone and not seasoned at all, with mushy peas, very little pesto, no pearl onions, and overall, the dish only tasted of arugala. My partners grilled cheese was like a normal grilled cheese where someone put more butter on without caring for my health, there wasnt any real flavor to it, especially lacking truffle, and the fries that came with it were nearly raw. Further, the glasses that came with the water were not properly cleaned - unfortunately, I only noticed nearing the end of the meal. Lastly, the atmosphere was incredibly unsettling: one of the TVs had an open surgery on it while the other, a sex scene; neither were very appetizing to eat a meal to. The only saving grace of this establishment is the wait staffs acceptance and kindness, comping us for our meal. Although I would like to give Birddog another try, I dont think the thought of leaving a restaurant hungry is one that I want to entertain.

Best happy hour in the city - only place you can get a $4 cocktail on happy hour! I ve been here 3 different times and each time I leave feeling like I had great service and ate great food (the sticky ribs are to die for)!!! The restaurant is very clean - and the bar seating countertop is NEVER sticky (possibly my biggest pet peeve when It comes to nice venues like this . I ve sat at too many bars and had sticky surfaces - but not this one!)

Restaurant ignores City of Edmonton noise bylaw weekly. Loud music and party noise coming out of the restaurant until midnight or even later on a weekday. Please respect those living around and contain the live music within the restaurant after 10pm.

I went to bird dog with my wife for a date, first off the service was pretty terrible our server took 30+ minutes to bring out our food which was a sandwich, salad, and soup. I understand the theme of the spot but the music was extremely loud and the tv had Jurassic park playing in the background. Back to the food It was lackluster at best, my grilled cheese sandwich tasted like a dessert and my tomato soup was brought out cold borderline frozen. The only redeeming factor was that my wifes salad was good but that is it.

Unfortunately having to provide a poor review. Dinner for 4 booked on a Sunday. Arrived and was seated under pot lights that flickered the entire time we were there. Was told there was nothing they could to about them. Drinks took 25 minutes to arrive, witnessed a group on the balcony walk out waiting too long for theirs too. Ordered 3 appetizers to share. they arrived 45 mins after order. The wings were overcooked, the hogs in blankets dips had a film on them from sitting under a heat lamp for too long, the pretzels hard. The pierogies were good. Party ordered rigatoni (decent), steak (came slightly under done, unseasoned, and the peppercorn sauce had the consistency of jelly with 0 flavor, totally gross). The juicy Lucys were burnt to a crisp, and the advertised crispy fries were undercooked by a substantial amount, floppy and lacking that cooked texture one would expect. The cocktails were good, and we did speak to the server and a managed did credit the food, so not a 1 star. Management: Understaffing your servers (2 for the entire restaurant on a warm evening with a big event at Rogers) and kitchen is a complete recipe for disaster, as evidenced here. Weve had decent meals and service here before, Im very disappointed in the complete lack of consistency with a Century restaurant.

I was here for a birthday dinner and the service was lacking, we didn t get checked on for drink orders and had to flag down multiple times. Had a steak overdone and then underdone for medium rare and our bills were mixed up so we had to wait to leave. There was also no water at the table and had to ask for another bottle which was still not enough.

1st. Ordered Diet Pepsi and came out flat. 2. Music was so loud, couldn t even hear the people I went with. 3. Fries were salty. But otherwise service was amazing!

Popped in for a drink and a light lunch which just happened to be happy hour. I cant complain about the prices and my food (and others) were really good.

Cheyenne was on bar and she said she s new but I don t believe it. She was so friendly and efficient on the bar, 11/10 would come back to see her!

We stopped here on our way to a concert in downtown Edmonton. Our server came over and asked if we wanted drinks other than water. We ordered some cocktails. She came back a few minutes later and asked if we wanted to order anything other than water? We said we had already ordered cocktails. She apologized and said they would be out soon. We ordered the onion rings, salad and ribs. We waited about 40 minutes and noticed other patrons that had come in after us getting their food. Asked our server and she went to check and then came back and said they didn t have onion rings and the kitchen told her but she didn t hear them? She said our salad and ribs would be out right away. Salad was mostly arugula and not many toppings and ribs were about 3 pieces of meat between the two of us. We ordered fries after we started eating because we realized it wouldn t be enough food. The server was apologetic but overall our experience was sub par. Disappointing because the menu online looked amazing. Our dishes were not cleared. We were not offered anything for waiting almost an hour for sub par food. Maybe the server was just having an off day but the experience was just not good.

Brooklyn was one of the best servers I ve had in a very long time - she was super sweet, fast, knowledgeable and accommodating. Truly, I will be coming back because of her!!

We stopped on here after a glum day, and needless to say it was amazing to be met with such a friendly and enthusiastic environment. Brooklyn was an amazing server and took great care of us. It was our first time going & we definitely will be back because of her. Thank you for the amazing food & drink recommendations!

We popped in here tonight for the first time, and it exceeded our expectations. They have a live DJ behind the bar, and the atmosphere is great cozy seating, sturdy wood tables, and beautiful leather-cushioned chairs. Our server was quick to greet us and very friendly. They have a lovely cocktail menu with pictures, which we really appreciated. We ordered two rounds of the deviled eggs, chicken wings, chicken pesto pizza, and potato skins. The quality and creativity of the food exceeded our expectations. The food was fresh, arrived quickly, was well presented, and had the most delicious, harmonious, yet unexpected flavors. I noticed that the Manager, Flavious, was busy bussing and wiping tables with a smile while we were there, which we respect very much as he supported the ladies serving. Very impressed. Excellent service; we will be back. Parking: Limited street parking + parkade parking.

Definitely a good place for cocktails when they arent short staffed. Dont bother for dinner. I got the Rigatoni with sausage and added sausage for the extra $8, all I got was 8 puny pathetic pieces of sausage that didnt even add up to a whole sausage that really tasted like a glorified hotdog. My son got the truffle grilled cheese and it was a sad excuse for a grilled cheese when the star of the dish should have been the cheese but all they used was a single thin slice of brie. Other dishes had by our table were ok but not worth noting. Appetizers were good and wish we would have just got some share plates rather than entres. Our server was awesome but the bar and kitchen were horribly slow. We had a party of more than 6 so they automatically added the 18% tip which was good for them as I wouldnt have tipped that much because of the poor quality food and slow service from the bar and kitchen. I might be back just for cocktails as the selection of cocktails looked good and the Espresso Martini was on point, however because of how slow the bar was, I didnt want to spend the time to order a different cocktail and decided to make an Old Fashioned at home. All in all it was ok but I wouldnt go out of my way to go here with all the other options next time Im downtown.

Lived in this city 13 years and first time in bird dog last night. I LOVED it. Already picked my next day to go back for bring your own bottle of wine for no corking fee?! Amazing!!!! Went on June 6th around 8:30pm. Thursdays they do $1 oysters and $10 any of their signature cocktails. So for $26 my husband and I got oysters and amazing crafted cocktails. The waiter was kind, altered a couple things and made sure we were happy with everything. Ambiance is awesome little moody not too loud. We got popcorn to go and I m going back just for that, truffle butter and honey. OMG try it!! Can t wait to try their pizza. And seriously great staff and food

Great food. They don t have seating for a small group. We were 7 ladies and we were pretty much squashed . It was a game night and the it was packed.

Came into birdog restaurant the other night, our bartender Carter was amazing, great service and great food!

No vegan options to be found on the menu. Hopefully this changes over time.

With the street full or pregame Oilers fans and the return of the 104 St. farmers market, Bird Dog decided not to offer anything but bad, oily, and slow-to-arrive pizza. The waitress did not bring water, which we specifically asked for. I was looking forward to trying all the sides and all day breakfast items with 4 hungry teenagers, but next weekend we will avoid this mistake and go to DOSC.

If I could give this zero stars, I would. We went at 4pm on an oiler playoff game, all tables were not full. It took a full 30 minutes for our cocktails to arrive. We debated on walking out before this. Then our food was another 20 minutes. Our server did not get us water, check on us, or keep us updated. After we received our food she still did not complete her quality check, nor did she offer refills. Would not recommend.

We enjoyed our group meeting at Birdog. Excellent service, delicious gnocci and great place for our conversations.

I rarely leave reviews regardless of what I have experienced but Birdog was unforgettable and not in a good way . When my boyfriend and I arrived in the parking lot, we were debating on going to either Birdog or another restaurant across the road as it was a very special night and was our anniversary but how I wish I did not step foot into this establishment. Once we got inside, we were greeted by a quiet hostess who said Hello and continued to stare at the iPad below her and were later seated by some man that was sitting at the bar?? Who I believe was the manager. We were seated at a tiny high top table and I made the initiative to ask a server if we could switch tables as the table was too tiny and could barely fit 2 plates of food, she replied with Ya sure whatever you want in a very passive aggressive attitude. When we switched to a low top table, the server decided to tell us the second we pulled the chairs out that the table was reserved which is fine but she should have let us know before we made the switch. She then redirected us to a different low top and it was quite filthy and unprofessional on this side of the restaurant. The table was sticky to the point where the menus would not peel off from the table top even with force and there were many crumbs left on the table. A table over from us was a table top filled with paper work that some employee and the manager seemed to be working on. When it came time to order food, the server came back but still had a horrible attitude to her. I asked for the cocktail menu and she grabbed it from the table next to us and swiftly yet aggressively placed it in front of me saying HERE! We ordered and everything was pretty much fine the potato skins and ribs were delicious and plated beautifully, until our entrees came out. We both ordered the 8oz steak frites and they were VERY inconsistent. My boyfriend s steak was tiny.. looked very much like 6oz with maybe a dash of arugula. As for myself, my steak was up to 8oz standards but it looked like I ordered an arugula salad. There was so much and made my boyfriend s steak look unhealthy. Both our steaks were ordered to be medium rare but they were VERY VERY DRY. Safe to say, I will not be returning and I am very disappointed with the customer service of Birdog. Need a day that the server did not even take the time to introduce herself or bother to tell us her name? I have worked in hospitality myself and do understand the challenges as a server but this is no exception due to the unprofessionalism displayed within the establishment and the server. We were nothing but nice and we received this treatment. Never again. Never again.

The beignets here literally blew my brain, so good!

Hostess looked at us when we walked in and continued to look at her computer. Walked away, so we followed assuming she was seating us. She wasnt. We took our own seat wherever she stopped. Took half an hour for our drinks and that was after waiting 10 minutes for someone to take our order. Ordered 2 starters, perogies and wings. Bartender (?) came and said they didnt look good and that it was the end of the week for delivery, so had us order something else. Mains took another 30 minutes before that same bartender came to tell us they now didnt have steak (for the steak frites). Three of the 4 of us got pizza and they were soggy. One round of our drinks were comped which we appreciated but we sat in front of dirty plates longer than our actual meal. Hostess sat at the bar with people, rarely helping seat others while they came in, food was extremely slow. We clearly were the blow-off table.

Came out after the Oilers game and was trying some place new. Got our drinks and they were good, we were going to order other food but the waitress didn t return in enough time for us to order it on happy hour. Once we were ready to order our food, the wings were good, but the pizza we ordered was missing almost all of our toppings. We got the beef on the pizza, but didn t get any cheese, onions, or the kimchi. After the poor service and food quality we won t be going back. Being part of a restaurant group you would think that the food quality would be better and the service would be more attentive

Went as a party of 6 for 7pm on a Friday... service was slow. Took ALONG time to get drinks. Ordered the tamohawk fancy steak dinner for 2. Bone marrow not my jam so cant comment on that. Steak was meh for 260 bucks I expected better. Seasoned very lightly. The Brusselsprouts where super good. Potatoes good as well. Shrimp was good.. very loud couldnt hear people beside me talking asked if they could turn the music down they moves us towards the back if the restaurant which was better. Ordered shots they brought them for the entire table, we ordered 4 not 6. They removed the shots completely from the bill which was nice and unexpected. I would go again. Would skip the 260.00 meal and opt for something cheaper. Biggest complaint is for sure the 30 min wait for drinks everytime we ordered. Maybe short staffed. Either way. Would try again will update review when I go again.

Great service , location and furnishings top class, good cocktails but the food was average at best. Went again 10 months later and have to say the food was greatly improved. Appy ribs were amazing and the juicy Lucy was excellent.

This place sucks. Customers that arrived after us have gotten their food before us. Waited like 45 mins and never got our food. So we left. Horrible service. Such a disappointment.

If I could give this 10/5 stars I would. Jessica, our bartender was phenomenal. We came in late and they kept the kitchen open for us. The food was still phenomenal. We came in the second night and she remembered our names and order and the service was phenomenal. Awesome vibes, absolute 10/10 service and establishment.

Had birthday dinner here for myself and my brother in law. Hannah was a phenomenal waitress and all staff went above and beyond for us. Highly recommend eating here!

Got a seat and ordered drinks right away. The server was friendly, but 30 minutes later, still no drinks though the server came by twice to apologize. The bar wasn t busy and I could see the bartenders from where I was sitting, they were sloppy and disorganized behind the bar. First time there and won t go back. There are literally at least half a dozen options within 10 minutes from there, why bother going again?

We had a good experience going out for dinner on a Friday night, but there is lots of room for improvement in terms of food quality. The menu has lots of dishes I would be interested in tasting, but after all three of the sharables we ordered fell a bit flat, especially the hogs in blankets, Im not as interesting is returning to try more. The waitress and all staff were excellent though.

Wishing we had better experience. Our waitress told a coworker to go away as they were serving us our food. We never found out what the person serving us our was trying to offer us for a topping. The waitress did not make us feel comfortable being there. Food could use some flavor. We knew something was up when four different people ask if our food was good. Chicken over cooked and no spices. Steak cooked nicely but had the smallest amount of peppercorn sauce which was underwhelming. An limp fries on the side. Deviled eggs and pierogies were good. Pizza was ok. Cocktail week cocktail were not balanced at all. Would avoid. I would suggest coming with a cocktail in mind as they have alot of great ingredients but need some help putting them together. Overall not up to to a typical century hospitality restaurant. Hopefully this helps make some changes to a place with alot of potential.

Had an amazing time out lastnight. Good food, awesome staff and atmosphere was incredible. Mark, Vanessa and Nas were an absolute blast to have serving for girls night out! 10/10!

Over all it was a really good experience and the cocktails have a very good variety! I was happy to finally come check it out. The only thing my friends and I wish could change, was the music was so loud you could hardly hear the person across from you..... We were all talking at each other to try and understand what was being said lol.

While deciding which restaurant my friend and I should have lunch at, I looked at the menu for BIRDOG. Our excitement for this place was immeasurable! However, our experience fell flat. From the service, to the lack of flavour. Our server, while very very nice, was lacking; our water was not topped up, nor was I asked for a refill on my beverage. Also, I feel as though you should preface any up charges on basic toppings. I was almost charged for an item I did not ask for nor did I receive. Not only did the above disappoint, the fact that other patrons, who were sat after us, received their meals first. Their Juicy Lucy s burgers were in fact very juicy, they were just lacking a smidge of flavour. I personally would only come back for their Brie over Fries, which feels like a true saving grace for the whole experience.

I really enjoyed the appetizers we had. The lemon pie was delicious. Lemon flavour was light, nothing too over powering. Trying born to Brie was delicious, a wonderful blend of blueberry use and Brie with truffle, honey and thyme. All of these flavours and cheese over perfectly cooked fries. My date order the Maui ribs and didn t read the description to well so he was expecting big ribs and got more like bulgogi. I thought it was an awesome dish - he did not. The kimchi Mac and Cheese it comes with is perfection. I got the Gnocchi with a side of the kimchi Mac and cheese and an order of the beer battered onion rings. The gnocchi was good, the pearl onions were awesome but I did wish it had more of a sauce, that being said with all we ordered it was nice to have a light dish. It felt like a healthy gnocchi. Clean and simple flavour that s anything but basic. Kimchi Mac and Cheese was everything I wanted it to be. Creamy with a punch of flavour, nothing too hot just enough to make you finish every bite. My favourite was the beer battered onion rings. So crispy and addicting. I can t believe this is true but they were even good when I went digging through my left overs the next day I know who eats day old onion rings but they were sooooo good. It blew my mind. After all that we pushed forward to try the beignets. The come with a cream or custard and a chocolate on the side so you can add to your own discretion. That cream/custard - should be sold in jars. It was amazing. I would put it on waffles, my coffee, my toothbrush it was just so good. The atmosphere was so trendy with stylish mixes of masculinity and openness. It very much reminded me of early 2000 San Francisco. Parking: Tons of spots down 104st depends on day and time of day you go.

Pretty good casual late night food spot. The beef burger (called Lucy juicy on menu) is a good choice for the price and it comes as two burgers. You can even upgrade the burger side to poutine for a small price increase ($4 at time of review). The chicken pizza tasted good but it was a bit small for the price and didnt have any undercarriage.

Walked to BirdDog after an art show, had never been our food was delicious. Our waitress was a complete gem. Loved that at 9pm the DJ came on. Good mock tail menu.

We always celebrate birthdays here!! The management and staff are just amazing their attention to detail is top-notch and the atmosphere is phenomenal. They always get our orders right, no matter how many people we have in our party. Last night we arrived at 7pm and stayed until 2am and we didn t want to leave! Amazing spot!

I booked a reso online and then called to confirm and three hours later they call me and say that they need to now move my reso to 9pm..... with no explanation other than they are busy. No, you messed up and over booked and are now canceling people. Horrible customer service

The food and service was pretty mediocre. Never got my water refilled once. Had a cool atmosphere but that just doesn t make up for its shortcomings. I would say there is many better options near by.

Celebrated my birthday at Birdog, and it exceeded expectations! Visiting Edmonton after many years, my childhood memories were of an old city famous for beef. Ordered a feast: Fire-roasted Tomato Soup, Hogs in a Blanket, Kimchi Hot Wings, Honey Bunny Pizza, Stk + Frites, Crispy Brussels, and Birdog Beignets for dessert a generous spread for 2 adults and 2 kids. While Birdogs overall food impresses, the wings and dough could use a tweak. The kimchi wings leaned towards the dry side, deviating from my expectations. The dough, although good, lacked that special touch. Now, the standout Honey Bunny Pizza was a flavor explosion! No tomato sauce, but the sriracha honey sweetness perfectly balanced with mozzarella fior di latte, and the crust is perfect baked with their 880° degree oven. The steak was a revelation, not just tender but crispy unmatched texture, surpassing anything in my province. Crispy Brussels, the second-best Ive had, were delicious but slightly salty. The tomato soup resembled concentrated pasta sauce, intense on the tomato front. Despite the full bellies, the Birdog Beignets were irresistible we devoured them all. Most of us ordered the burger, and it shocked us that there were 2 burgers. The staff were extremely great by coming out and talking to our grandbaby. The food was absolutely delicious.

The deviled eggs were delicious. For mains we got the salmon and the gnocchi. The salmon was very good, the spring onion pesto however we both thought was a bit strong and just tasted like onion. Everything else was great, food and drinks.

This is a must eat here in 2024 kinda restaurant. The food menu here is really nice. The atmosphere was pretty chill. As it was a pretty quite night when I came in. I wanted to really get a good feel for the menu. So I tried a little bit of everything. I would really like to come back and dive into the menu a bit more. The fire roasted pizza was definitely the highlight of the menu.They made a really sexy ceaser too with a pickled bean and olive garnish. Twas delicious. Delectable food and amazing service. Close to Rogers Place with ample parking nearby makes it a great pre event spot. We ordered many items and the pizza was surprisingly the star of the show. Will be going again and again.

The restaurant is nice inside. My overall experience was a bit of a let down but should get better once they ve worked the kinks out of this new resto. Started with a cocktail which I choose because of the whisky that was in it. They couldn t find the whisky and I saw them put in an inferior unrelated whisky and it didn t go well with the cocktail. They were too busy for me to bring it up. The 2 bartenders were brand spanking new and struggling on a busy oilers game night. Nice guys though. The wood fired pizza I had big hopes for but it was quite underdone. The crust was still wet and had no bounce. Wouldn t recommend. Though these kinks can be worked out and when they are I ll give it another shot.

Such a fun new spot downtown! Came here with my girlfriend for a drink and an appie and it did not disappoint! Delicious drinks, friendly staff and delicious food. We will definitely be back!

First new foodie adventure of the year! Birdog took over the old Bottega 104 and gave the interior a bit of a face life: more seating available and opened up the space. Service was very attentive and clientele had a wide range (I dont think the older adults and older family at the tables beside us didnt appreciated the music being cranked up midway thru their meal either since we were basically yelling to hold a convo. I understand youre a bar but maybe wait till 10pm to really increase the volume?). The menu is deemed global fare and everything was super tasty. The kimchi mac n cheese was a pleasant surprise and the steak tartare is highly recommended. Their deviled eggs has a bit of a scotch egg flair to it which gave it more texture, the yolk was perfectly runny. We had high hopes for the corn & crab chowder but it was overly salty (probably because of the bacon) and it took some fishing around to find any crab. The other letdown was the 9-layer horizontal carrot cake, the server said it was moist and light but it was dry and dense (we didnt finish it). Out of the three of us that attended only one said they would return; their menu is limited and we tried everything we really wanted to in one sitting. I would say go and check out Birdog but doubtful we would return.

Good overall ambience. Service was fast. Delicious drink. Cheese pizza was decent too. Strawberry pizza was a little bit too sweet for our liking. Right in middle of downtown so that s a plus and there s some street parking in front.

Went there on a Friday night for the first time, the house music wad a great vibe, the decor and atmosphere was a great way to start the evening. Specialty cocktails were very good and reasonably priced for a downtown venue. Our table ordered the truffle popcorn, and it was hands down the best. Food : 5/5

We stopped in for a quick drink and some appies, and were not disappointed. Interesting cocktails, including a nice Old Fashioned. The salmon crudo was awesome, and fit the bill as gluten and dairy free. The truffle grilled cheese was definitely not gluten and dairy free, but was delicious. The hogs in a blanket were very tasty, but I expected the dough to play a bigger role. The mustard dip was awesome! All in all, a great pit stop on a busy day - love to spend more time there.

Came in a week ago and again last night. Was recommended by some friends who celebrated New Year s Eve at birddog, they said if you want to feel like you re partying in LA you have to check it out and the bartenders will make you something unique if you describe what you like!! They told us we have to ask for Aly and her pink peppercorn sour and that she will make you a cocktail tailored to exactly what you are feeling. Every bartender, manager and even one of the chefs came to ask us how we are enjoying our evening. We came back last night after the oilers game, the DJ was awesome, our server was professional and charming. Will continue to recommend they knock it out of the park.

The inside of the restaurant is really warm, cozy and modern. The staff were neatly dressed and friendly. We arrived around 6:30 on a Friday night, and were told to sit at the bar, not sure why? The bar staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered a lime margarita - it was really good, but the amount in the glass full of ice was really small compared to other bars. The glass was over salted. Another bartender replaced this drink with another drink, not sure what it was? (Pepper margarita?) It was good if you enjoy peppers - which I dont. We had the fresh oysters as an appetizer - they were really good! Fresh with lots of condiments! A large portion of the menu is pizza. We ordered two kinds of pizza. Both pizzas were under cooked and limp. There was hardly any sauce on the pizzas. My meat pizza was covered in thinly sliced ham. I could not see any cheese on my pizza. I removed the ham and found tiny specs of cheese. Overall, the pizza was very bland and underwhelming. The manager of the restaurant, came and talked to us and offered his apologies and we were not charged for the pizza. (He also offered to let us try something else which we declined.)

Went on a Saturday night around 11pm. Cocktail list was a replica of every single chain restaurant downtown although the Spruce Grove was poundable.

Birdog is the latest entry for the machine that is Century Hospitality Group in Edmonton. They have a wide swath of restaurants in Edmonton already serving up quality eats and beverages to the community. These are not independently owned outlets serving up uniquely crafted menu items. But rather more thought out offerings that align to the Century brand...upper end food in beautiful establishments. Birdog is a beautiful outlet in busy 104 Street. Great cocktails and food. And some items are shared with others in the brand. Its all great. They may have a hard time with so many unique restaurants in the area. But it seems like they fill a space that is needed. So many of the eateries are filled to the brim. Service was very friendly and helpful. Will be back. 4 x

All around great experience, atmosphere was great, decent food and cocktails. Would definitely go back again!

I hate giving reviews like this but our experience tonight was rough. - Firstly we walked into the restaurant tonight and my partner stepped in ketchup that was in the middle of the floor. The staff was kind enough to offer her a wet rag to wipe her off boot. - We ordered drinks and I received the wrong drink. The staff seemed very inexperienced. I had to ask two staff members what drink I received because I was certain that it wasnt the drink I ordered (I ordered a drink with half and half in it which was obvious to identify if it wasnt). - We ordered two mains and they were aggressively mediocre. I ordered the Steak Frites medium rare and I received it quite rare. The fries were under-cooked (how does that happen) as the insides were very mushy and the exterior not at all crispy. I also ordered a pepper aioli which was $3 and I didnt receive until I reminded the staff. We also ordered the Rigatoni which was covered in a very under-seasoned cream sauce and tasteless herb oil. It was incredibly bland. The bill came out to nearly $100.00 and we left incredibly disappointed. The only positive was that the staff were friendly and attentive even if they came off as inexperienced. If you are in the neighborhood, I recommend you walk across the street and hit up DOSC or simply go to Cactus Club or Earls and get the same food with better quality at a discount during Happy Hour.

I recently dined at this restaurant and my experience was mixed. While the service was really awesome, the food didnt quite live up to my expectations. I found it to be too expensive and not as good as I was hoping for. On the plus side, the drinks were okay, but unfortunately that wasnt enough to make up for the disappointing food. Overall, I would give this restaurant a three-star rating.

Birdog just gave me one of the most satisfying dining experiences Ive had in years. I stopped in with a friend this past Tuesday to try their Downtown Dining Week special and we were blown away. The lighting is low and the atmosphere is energetic. Plenty of rich dark colours and a very well-stocked bar. A perfect place to bring a date but also moody enough to allow for comfortable dining alone. Sit yourself in a quiet corner and pretend youre in a Mickey Spillane novel. But lets talk about the food. The Steak Tartare, made from Alberta beef and marrow and served on a roasted bone, was outstanding. It paired perfectly with a double shot of the excellent Bourbon that was recommended to me by their very knowledgeable bartender. This must be what it feels like to be John Wick. The staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The room is beautiful, the food is excellent and the service is top-notch. I recommend Birdog to anyone with a bit of romance and adventure in their heart. Its the perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends, a date, or even by yourself. I will definitely be adding Birdog to my list of regular haunts, and I cant wait to go back and try more of their incredible dishes.

i went last night at 7:30 pm and had the pizza with prosciutto, it was delicious and you could tell that that s an authentic italian pizza. i will definitely be back soon to try more pizzas! 10/10 recommend

I will now only ever compare any other steak tartar I eat to this. First time having it. Definitely not the last. Cocktails were exceptional as well, and the atmosphere is nice. That being said, the music is too loud to talk to people, and unless you are both a restaurant and dance club, you need to tone it down. I left half deaf... and before you wonder how old I am. At heart, a solid seventy-nine.

Always up for trying a new restaurant. Overall, the ambiance is great although I found the service to be hit and miss over the course of the evening and thats why Ive rated it a 4. As with almost all my reviews, its the staff who make or break the customer service experience. The service was not consistent despite the good food. Will have to make a return visit for a better comparison. I do recommend trying this place out for yourself.

Review is completely based on drinks not food*** My bartender (Terence) was lovely! I had asked him to make me a drink, absolutely killed it!!! Above and beyond my expectations. Service from him was phenomenal, presentation of the drink was great. I wish I had stayed longer for more information however what I can say was if I come back I hope to see him again. If not? I m sure the rest of the staff is just as lovely. Highly recommend for sitting at the bar. Next time I will definitely be trying the food.

Great location, really nice décor and atmosphere, and excellent service. As a bonus, there was a range of cheap wines that helps make dinner out more affordable. The tartare and the crudo were both delicious as sharing plates. The reason for the average review is that both of our mains were very disappointing - steak was excessively salty and the croque madame was the worst wed ever had. A friend also mentioned that the ribs were overpriced and generic, so probably a consistent failure on the food side. Would recommend dropping in for drinks and appies, but maybe go elsewhere for dinner. Enough good aspects that well give them another go in a few months time, and hopefully the weak food will have been improved by then (maybe the pizza is as good as Parlours?).

The drinks are not bad, food is average. Painfully small portions for the money. The food attempts to be something avant-guarde, but falls painfully short. The tasteless cauliflower side and hot dogs made for children clearly need to be avoided. For the main maui ribs, good flavour for all 5 of them. The side on the main was pasta coated with cheese to make up for anything worth putting in my mouth. On a bed of inedible carrot strings, the maui ribs presentation was as effective as a Darnell nurse intercepted saucer pass to the LA kings for the loss. Gordon Ramsey would have thrown everything at the chef and walked out. Enjoy!

We came here tonight with a bigger group and I m pretty disappointed to be quite honest. The food and drinks were quite good which made up for everything else. But honestly I don t appreciate ordering at 8:16 and then receiving my food over an hour later at 9:25 and then being expected to pay 18% gratuity on top. Ridiculous if you ask me, as we intended to leave around 9:00 as we had another place to be, but now have to leave close to 10 because the waiter wanted us to have our food arrive with the rest of the group when we ordered before people who came at 8:45 and they got their food about 10 minutes before us. Next time, I d rather just order takeout. The 2 stars is for the food because it s really good, but that s all I ll credit it to.

Another completely mediocre offering from Century Hospitality Group. The food is forgettable and the vibe is completely undecided on what it wants to be. It seems to want to be fine dining, a sports bar, and a nightclub all at the same time. The bass is pounding at 2pm and only gets louder as the day goes on. Such a disappointing addition to 104th. Try DOSC, Black Pearl, or Tzin before you try Birdog.

Such a great little trendy spot. Our server was wonderful. Everything came out fast. The cocktails are great, like all Century restaurants. The rigatoni is a garlic lovers dream. Be aware there are no soft furnishings so it gets extremely loud, this is not a quiet romantic date situation. We loved the lighting and the decor. I can eat a lot, but these desserts are HUGE.

Sleek, elevated downtown spot. Steak tartar was incredible, deviled eggs were great, fries with truffle oil and brie was a new one for me, but also super tasty. We had the meat & marrow which is a tomahawk ribeye, huge marrow bone and multiple sides. The steak was a bit underwhelming, and avoid the gravy, but everything else was absolutely perfect. Well definitely be back to try some other mains. Kid-friendliness: Do not bring your children here.

First round of food arrived lightning quick (Honey Bunny pizza, steak tartare). When we asked for another round of crostini for the tartare, those took a while to come. Refills on our drinks were a little slow, too. We also ate the wings (great flavour and texture), the Born to Brie (fun take on a poutine, fries were excellent and the brie + honey combo was nice), and the Shrooms pizza (the crust on both pizzas was disappointing a little too soft on the outside). Our server Hannah was a darling, though honest recommendations, very attentive and great personality.

I dont write these kind of reviews often but let me tell you the minute I went up to the front door it was a bad experience. Waited around for over 5min just to be noticed and sat at a table on the patio. Only given one menu for a two person table. Server took what seemed like forever to great me and then she brought me the wrong drink. My partner then got a drink which also took forever to get to the table. The food was fine but nothing special. We didnt have any cutlery or plates to start eating and had to pull over the host to get us cutlery. Server then didnt quality check us untill we were basically done our meal. Not impressed and dont recommend this establishment if this is how they train their servers.

Nice modern atmosphere, great drinks and not so bad food. The pizza wasn t the greatest but the rest of the food we had was pretty good including the gnocchi and the deserts. Worth a visit for sure but come early if you don t like louder music on the weekends. It s part of the Century Hospitality group which also Lux Steakhouse, MKT and Parlour. I mention that as neither a positive or negative but if you re looking for a little mom and pop shop then this isn t the place.

Its pretty nice. I would characterize the food as kind of like upscale pub food in its theme. Theres a lot of snackables and shareables, and with pizza holding a prominent roll. They do make very nice pizzas at that. On one hand, when they mention truffle on the menu, its actual shaved truffle and not truffle oil. On the other, theyre prone to using the term forest mushrooms to refer to the everyday Agaricus bisporus that are what you think of as the common white/brown/portabello mushroom that you encounter in literally every grocery store. Despite boasting rotating taps, the beer selection is a bit limited (one of the rotating taps was Vizzy). The fanciest thing on the menu is Fin du Monde, which is nice and not something you find everywhere, but is still a mass brand. The wine selection looked nice, and theres a lot of options there for high-end bottles. The cocktail selection didnt really tempt me. They have a good, functional patio setup, at least during the height of summer, though it seemed to take quite a while to emerge which is why we didnt try it until now. Dogs seem to be welcome, and they seem to provide water and possibly treats for them. Like many places along 104, it felt like a relaxing place to eat, and it was a nice easy night out for the other half and I on a night neither of us felt like cooking, and it seemed to have drawn a lot of other people from the neighbourhood. It seems like a nice, relaxed place. But its not the place Id take the other half to really impress her on date night, though it seems to want to be. But hey, your mileage may vary. While we were eating, some guy with a ridiculous super-car with the doors that open upwards brought some lady in who was dressed precariously to the nines (and if youve ever wondered as youve wandered through the pharmacy who would use a product labelled butt polish, its exactly her). He ordered some onion rings and a few other things, then left VERY QUICKLY because the police were on the street and his car was parked very illegally. He then disappeared for about half an hour to park his car somewhere where a poor person couldnt touch it while his date furiously rapid-fire texted and the staff checked to see if shed been bailed upon, then returned on an e-scooter. Googling his sneakers suggested that they cost about $900 and theyre not even made with a good waxed rough-out Horween Chromexcel! So, there must be something here to appeal to high spending tastes, such as they are. But if youre not a $900-because-they-have-gold-on-them-and-not-because-theyre-even-particuylarly-well-made sneaker guy, theres plenty there that I would say is a good value, especially the pizzas.

Not enough stars for this place. The staff are fantastic and kept our group well taken care of. Clear leadership behind the bar and in the kitchen which I could hear but it wasnt intrusive. Food is so good! Drinks can be slightly modified for your taste which is a must when paying a premium. Was a pleasant surprise to stumble on this gem

A fun, happening spot to get together for drinks on a weekend but not sure I would make it a dining go-to. Management was very attentive to our group so overall it was an enjoyable evening!

Good place for group drinks and appetizers before a show/concert/event at Rogers place. Reservations recommended. Appetizers were good for sharing. Tried the hogs in a blanket , wings, Lu au pizza, crispy brussels, and the meat + cheese charcuterie. The hogs in a blanket dish fell short for us, but we were happy with everything else. Service was friendly and they accommodated us on short notice. It did seem a bit too dark at our tables (middle tables, not booths). It was busy and food took a while to be served.

First time visiting yesterday. Everything I tried was tasty. Drink menu looked interesting but didnt try. It was a Thursday afternoon so it wasnt really busy at all. Parking: Your usual downtown parking so it can vary depending on time of day and if there is an event happening downtown.

Extremely dissatisfied. We dined on a Friday evening and all 6 of us left disappointed. See the photos, we didn t finish our meals. The gnocchi tasted like wheatgrass shots. The rigatoni was watery. The tartare tasted like Dijon and mayonnaise only. Oysters are going to give us the poops for sure, they smelled awful. Was at Birddog last Thursday with a group of 11 people. The waitress was fabulous ;) and the drinks and food were also great tasting. I do recommend this and think the 4.2 rating they have is low. based on my experience!

Great atmosphere and great service. I work downtown and find it a great place to take clients and staff, and even family. The manager, Flavius, provides exemplary service and caters to all our needs. Had a lovely birthday dinner there with some friends. Tried the marrow and was not disappointed.

Service was good. But the food was very disappointing. We were very excited to try this place as the menu looked good and the ambiance and place looked nice. For food, we got the steak tartare which was ok, some ppl may like it but it was too raw tasting for me, yes I have had other beef tartares and I know it s raw lol. But depending on the way they season it, it can taste less like I m just eating raw meat. We also got hogs in a blanket which was just not worth the money at all, nothing special other than the fact it taste worse than the store bought frozen ones. For mains, my bf got a pizza that was mediocre but not terrible. And I got the rigatoni, it looked so good and delicious when it came but once I took a bite it was the most disappointing thing ever. I have never tasted anything so bland, idk if they forgot to add seasoning or salt but most bland pasta I ever had. Just tasted like a creamy flavourless dough. So sad. Cocktails were good tho. But def won t come back for the food, we didn t enjoy a single item and that s always the worst when u go out for dinner at a new place.

All dishes we had were mediocre with not much flavor. Deviled eggs looked amazing but no salt. The spicy italian sausage in the hogs in a blanket was chewy/fatty and didnt go well with the cheese sauce. The Brussel sprouts came out burnt and only tasted good when covered in the sauce. Mac and cheese tasted like Velveeta. Below average for the prices.

One of the best Pizzas in Edmonton! The pizza was a delight to the taste buds, boasting a burst of flavours from its rich toppings. Alexandra behind the bar is such a delight!! Food is amazing, cocktails are unique and delicious. We re in town for a Jonas Brothers concert and they were playing their music all night. We ll definitely be back next time!

Don t really get the hype around this spot. Food is average at best, cocktails were not worth the asking price, and it s way too loud. There isn t a dance floor, why does the music need to be so loud I can barely hear the people I am sitting beside? Recommend saving your money and going across the street to dosc if you want good food and cocktails worth their asking price.

In our opinion, they served us the best truffle pizza in Edmonton. The salmon and maui ribs were average. They were very prompt with their service. The lighting and decors were all very well put together.

The pizza is AMAZING! Favourite dish from here, highly recommended! Food

Went here with my dad and was seated right away at the bar. Bartenders were friendly and we were wanting for nothing. Staff all around was lovely from host to the individual who ran our food who was particularly fantastic. 5/5 new spot for downtown YEG. Will come again and recommend!

This is a great new addition to Edmontons dining scene. They are still finding their way a bit being such a new venue. I can say that the Deviled Eggs with hot sauce pearls nailed it. Make sure to order that.

I came here last night (Friday) to catch up with A friend. I always love discovering new places downtown and this place was fantastic. The drinks were great, food was delicious and the service was awesome. One of the managers, Darren, came and chatted for a bit which was really nice. I will definitely be returning with my husband to share the experience. Great job guys!!

This is a very cool concept on 104th. Very cozy feeling inside. Excellent food, friendly staff! The pizzas are incredible and the menu is exactly the right size and right offerings. Worth the drive from anywhere in Edmonton!

Took one of my clients here for dinner. The beef tartare was to die for!! Staff are friendly and atmosphere is great. I will definitely be back!
