Chill eatery & bar with a patio for craft beers, breakfast-to-dinner bistro meals & weekend brunch.
The restaurant is super cute and cozy. A really intimate and casual atmosphere. The service was average. Not bad but nothing memorable, either. The food though - that was a huge disappointment. I’ve heard this place is amazing for brunch, so maybe I should have come for that instead of dinner. I wasn’t super hungry so I just got the nachos as a meal. The portion would have been perfect but everything else was a disappointment. The center of the nachos had about half a cup of ingredients on it and that was about it. After eating the 10 chips that had some stuff on them, this is what was left - just a plate of burnt chips. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich, which he described as dry and bland. This place may have been cute but a complete waste of $60.
Amazing location and atmosphere! Love the vibe!! Service is really good. It’s very popular location so it get busy really quick. Love their bum
Had a great experience at the Sugarbowl this morning. Got there just after 9:00 am and pretty much had our pick of spots to sit at. Our servers were very friendly, helpful, and took great care of us. The food and coffee was great! We will be returning.
Great old school breakfast spot near University. I came here 6 years ago while in university and the quality is still the same! The chicken and waffles was great, same with the omelette and hash browns. The banana cream pie was super creamy and the crispy bread underneath works well together.
Sugarbowl: A Bittersweet Experience Sugarbowl, nestled in a cool, older wood-style building, promises a chill eatery and bar experience. Unfortunately, my recent visit fell short of the expectations set by the enticing online photos. The Food: Banana Cream Pie: While decent in flavor, the sheer size of the portion was overwhelming. A heads-up from our server about the shareable nature of this dessert would have been appreciated. Cinnamon Bun Bread Pudding: Though freshly baked, the bread pudding arrived piping hot, making it difficult to enjoy, and the flavor was disappointingly bland. The restaurant's ambiance, housed in a charming old building, had potential, but it didn't quite live up to the polished image portrayed online. The service was noticeably slow, adding to the less-than-ideal experience. Sugarbowl offers a diverse menu and a unique setting, but the execution needs some refining. With improved service, portion guidance, and attention to flavor, this spot could truly shine. For now, it remains a bittersweet experience.
Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, Sugar Bowl never fails. Absolutely delicious food and a lovely atmosphere to the place. The menu is not massive but they have some fantastic dishes and nice variety. Also have a great craft beer selection. A definite gem worth checking in Edmonton.
I went here on a busy Saturday and I was attended to quickly and efficiently. The food was really good. I had chicken and waffles. The waffles were airy and I liked that chicken breast was used so it was not a heavy breakfast. The combination of the salsa and butter was a really good bite. The service was excellent too. My only con was the chai latte was way too sweet. I had to add some water to it for it to be drinkable.
My friend and I wanted breakfast and so we decided on sugarbowl! We both had this place on our wish list to visit. We arrived around 10:30am on a Saturday and the place was packed. We were on a wait list for about 40 mins. Although the wait was long the cinnamon buns were worth the wait. For $6 I really enjoyed it. Perfect balance of cinnamon and soft flavourful dough. It’s a huge roll so I recommend sharing it with someone! I had their Eggs Benedict and thought it was a 3/5. I felt it was missing a sweeter sauce. I had an Earl grey tea to drink and thought it was great they gave me a kettle. All in all, it’s worth it to check out. The vibe is really cool and cozy.
Generally speaking, its good practice to not have the wait staff come in and serve customers while contagious with an infectious disease. I suppose this is acceptable at this establishment and therefore it will be my last visit. Food
Great food & super cozy place to enjoy a meal! Lots of gluten free options and ble to accommodate dairy free on top of gluten free which was awesome! Dietary restrictions: Gluten and dairy free
The host Bryan was truly incredible with his warmth, recommendations, and attention to detail. What an amazing presence in a truly excellent spot - highly recommend! Check out Kaffa next door if you re waiting for a table!
Great food and good atmosphere, recommend the pulled pork macaroni, and banana cream pie.
Excellent service
It was ok, food was alright! The pineapple mimosa was too thick, and the coffee was cold. Parking: Behind the building
Just a lovely place to sit, enjoy decent food, sample interesting beer and wine and watch the passing parade.
It was my first time having chicken waffles that werent deep fried, and they were surprisingly delicious.
Great coffee, service and atmosphere. Perfect to have a coffee and breakfast while getting some work done.
My new favorite spot
Upon reaching , we couldnt see recognize the place as there was no signage. It was awkward to go inside and enquire if thats the correct restaurant. Food in fast food joints are better than this overpriced place. Service was friendly and helpful. I wouldnt recommend this place at all .
I went to the Sugar Bowl for a date night on a Tuesday night. We had made a reservation and they saved us a place in a cozy corner. The server, Heleen met with us quickly and cordially, offering a bright smile and consistently kept us taken care of through the evening. She was quick to inform us of specials and top-off our drinks for nearly an hour. Great service, for sure. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries, and first noticed the sauces served with the fries were unique - not just Heinz ketchup from a bottle, but their own in-house ketchup recipe. It was phenomenal! A hint of heat, sweet yet savory, a real treat to accompany the crispy and hot fries. The pulled pork sandwich came on a toasted brioche bun which I feel was slightly overbaked, but nevertheless was incredibly soft and flavourful. It was easy to tear through with my teeth and had a satisfying texture. The pork itself was mixed with a generous portion of coleslaw, and was a very sweet combination of sauces with very tender pork. All-in-all, my entree was phenomenal. My only concern was with the signage outside the restaurant. It was my first time at this location, and I wasnt even sure I was at the right place. I didnt see any hint I was at the Sugar Bowl until Id read my menu. Perhaps this is a common trend, but for a wary old fogey such as myself fumbling in the dark, I need the assurance. Highly recommend you pay the Sugar Bowl a visit, theyve made a fan out of me.
Such a cute little place with amazing breakfast and great lattes! Parking is a little nuts (limited spots behind the building) but the food makes up for it
Always a wonderful place to grab food and drinks! Great selection and the servers are knowledgeable and super helpful when making selections or suggesting drinks!
Probably the best spot in Edmonton. Make sure you visit this place if you re in Edmonton!
I have tried pulled pork sandwich with salad, and it was the BEST pulled pork sandwich ever. The waitress was so friendly and kind. I am 100% sure that I will come here again.
I loved the atmosphere and the attention of the waitresses. Great place Food
This is absolutely the best place to eat in Edmonton. Lots of parking with no time limit. We come here monthly with the family all the waiters and waitresses and support staff make the event very memorable.
Been coming here for years! Still a fantastic place to grab some good food and drinks. The banana cream pie is always a must for me.
Fun plant based options and nice atmosphere =)
Dont be fooled by the 5 star reviews this place gets. Ive been here twice now and both experiences have been disappointing. To start, this place is loud and crowded. There is little to no parking in the area. This time, against my better judgement, I went here for brunch. My spouse and I ordered a cinnamon bun, the Belgian waffle, and the Sugar Bowl benny. The Cinnamon bun was good, though Chartiers in Beaumont is both better and cheaper. The Belgian waffle was a basic waffle with some fruit. The wheels fell off with Benny. This ill conceived dish is served on corn bread, instead of English muffins. The corn bread is overly sweet, to the point that it becomes cloying. It is also crumbly so its a battle to get a bite. The bechamel sauce was grainy and flavorless. One egg was perfect, the other cooked to the point that I may have been able to bounce it. The potatoes were flavourless and lukewarm. It was atrocious, and I ate less than half of it. Our server, spent most of our meal run off her feet, trying to serve a ridiculous number of tables, so she paid very little attention to us. There were no water refills or check-ins. When she claim to clear my partners plate, she cleared mine, and didnt enquire as to why it was mostly unfinished and why I didnt want it boxed up. I paid $50.00 for two entrees, a coffee, and a cinnamon bun. Overall, its one of the worst brunch spots in Edmonton.
Attentive servers. Well made food. One of my favourite breakfast joints. Parking: Parking available free of charge right behind the restaurant. Remember to register your car when you get in. Kid-friendliness: Very

Still a favorite
So delicious, fresh and very filling. Will be back. We had the omelettes and breakfast sausage. Couldn t even come close to finishing it.
Only considering the food. It will be the five-star. However, the environment is only two-star. Lots of mosquito and flies inside the corner table area.(South-west corner) During the meal, we saw lots of them flying around our table. After left, I found got biten by mosquito above my eye brow. The table was looking clean. Might be the floor or something in the corner of the wall attract all the bugs. Wont sit in the same table again. The signature cinnamon roll was good. Its not too sweet, accutrully you can taste little bit savory. The price is little bit high. For the people who likes drink hot water, they charge for it. Last thing, they have lots parking behind the restaurant. Just be aware, when you get out, the alley is one way.
A lovely restaurant serving vegetarian/ vegan dishes. The service was friendly with a lot of smiles, it was nice to see. A lovely experience. Food : 4/5
We came here on a Sunday during the long weekend. Parking is behind the restaurant. We waited for 10 minutes for our table and got the one in front of the washroom. We noticed some flies in the restaurant since theres also a garbage next to the washroom. The food was ok, we ordered the sugarbowl benny and vegan sausage and tofu scramble. The service was excellent. All of the staff had great smiles! Vegetarian options: vegan sausage and tofu scramble
My husband and I went for breakfast this morning they did not disappoint we both enjoyed our meals the music was calming. The service was great food was great they make the best Chai latte and Our server Bryan was wonderful he was very kind thank you Bryan We will be going back again we give 5
Bryanis super friendly and makes sure you are well taken care of - great service and love the quality of the Lattes and food.
Love this place. Good coffee and their cinnamon buns are really great, my favorite. Nice atmosphere but a little loud in there.
The food was flavorless :( I was so disappointed as I d heard it was amazing! The atmosphere & service were great though!
My husband and I came here for brunch. Our brekky sandwich was so tasty and such a chill vibe. Thanks!
Bryan, the host with the most, made sure we had the most comfortable seating in the house. Then, Marjorie showed up and made my brunch with my son the best! Amazing staff and service.
Came here with friends over the weekend and had the best breakfast! Our waitress was amazing to us, and the food was awesome. We had a previously bad experience the night prior elsewhere, and this was so refreshing. I wish I could remember her name, we were so grateful to have her serve us. I just remember she had really pretty green eyes - but thank you so much!
Good food, and a cute place to go with friends. Can get a bit loud but that varies on time of day. Ina pretty location for pics as well.
Gassed
Such great vibes tonight! Fiore took really great care for us, she went above and beyond to make our experience the perfect night! Thanks Fiore!! Will see you again! The banana cream pie is also so good I have no words! Food
Went there for lunch. Arrived at 12 noon on a weekday but they were already out of my first choice (Chorizo Penne). Ordered a beef burger instead but was way too oily and had a strange smell to it. The place had a nice vibe but was so loud. Could barely hear people across the table. The washroom was dirty and smelly. Wont go back.
I love this place! Ive been coming here for almost 15 years and their lamb burger is still one of the best burgers in the city. Their brunch is decent as well!
Very good/unique selections on the menu plus some common dishes and the servers are always kind and attentive. We have been going here every couple weeks for the last year and it has always been amazing each time.
Stopped by for a quick pint. Great atmosphere; indoor and outdoor seating, with a good selection of beers. We were able to sample before ordering. Will visit again!
Sugar bowl is always a hit, but this time has above and beyond because of our server Sydney. She was incredible and made our birthday brunch very special. Sydney is very friendly and not afraid to go the extra mile. Thanks Sydney!
Amazing cinnamon buns, thats all you need to know
Tasty little spot with a nice selection of food and beverages. The chicken and waffles were fantastic. Service was great and it gets quite busy fast.
Came here for brunch and had a lovely experience. We sat on the patio, which was an added bonus. The service was fast, the food was great, and our server was friendly. There is free parking in the back.
There is a separate vegan + veggie menu here that has a lot of options modified to be vegan, and some unique ones that are naturally vegan. The tofu sandwich is especially good! Would love to see Just Egg make an appearance in the alternatives for breakfast. Hopefully they make this addition for the plant based crowd :)
Sugarbowl is a unique venue with a great menu and atmosphere. The service is friendly but seems to be understaffed every time I ve been there - be patient as you wait 15+ mins with an empty glass in hand. Still worth it though imo.
Love this place! Chose to come here during a visit from Calgary after doing a Google search of the best brunch spots in Edmonton. Id give the service 6/5 stars if I could, everyone was so friendly and attentive. The food was amazing. They offer vegan sausage, which was nice because it meant I could have pretty much anything off the menu. Went with the pulled pork hash (vegan sausage instead of the pork) and it was delicious. Will definitely be back the next time Im in town!
Great place for a nice meal. Cozy ambiance with great service. It can get super crowded so be patient. It s definitely worth it.
It s a beautiful restaurant and the atmosphere is lovely and we enjoyed the cinnamon bun. However, the rest was pretty lacklustre. The service wasn t good and the food was unimpressive. I ordered the bison chili and cornbread - the chili was spicy and the corn bread had no flavour. My husband had the Mac and cheese with a side of chicken. The mac & cheese again had no flavour and he really only got half a chicken breast for seven dollars. This place fell real short of the hype.
First time here! Excellent food and excellent service!!
Second time being here this past weekend and the last time I believe had the same issue of a very long wait to serve food. On Saturday, my friend and I, waited over an hour to get our food served. The place was busy but it s a brunch restaurant. Isn t that to be expected? In the summer at that. Is there not enough kitchen staff to handle the work load? Unsure. There were wasps flying all over everyone sitting outside. There must have been a nest near. They were so obnoxious my pregnant friend wanted to leave in fear of getting stung. One also landed in my food and walked all over it, deaming it to be trash at that point. Server seemed completely unbothered. Knowing I had to throw away the meal I waited an hour for, starving. I let her know the wasp had waked through my food. No response from her. Won t be back for a third try.
I really enjoyed the mac and cheese and the atmosphere was nice.
Stellar service! Stayed for some pregame loaded nachos and dinosaur coloring. Attentive and courteous staff, as always. Such a chill place.
Absolutely love sugar bowl! The food is incredible never had anything bad here. Service is normal. Atmosphere gives off a warm, yet fun, yet relaxed environment. Kind of like remedy honestly.
Decent
I enjoyed my experience here as a vegan eating with a big group of non-vegans. There are a few vegan options listed on the menu, but the kitchen is very flexible and accommodating and can create custom meals according to your dietary restrictions upon request. My waitress was friendly and very knowledgeable about what a vegan diet means, which was appreciated. I ordered a custom meal of a breakfast burrito with tofu scramble and vegan sausage, with a side of fries. It was very delicious and reasonably priced at $16 (but they charged an extra $1 for vegan mayo, which was a bit surprising, because normally the fries wouldve come with regular mayo anyway). The portion sizes are VERY generous here too - I had plenty of leftovers to take home! Cozy intimate interior with moody ambiance, with a spacious street-facing patio. Good location on a quiet street near the University of Alberta. Great happy hour deals on drinks from 1-6pm. Overall Id highly recommend this restaurant! Vegetarian options: Several vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. Very accommodating kitchen, can create custom vegetarian and vegan meals upon request.
Yum! The Chicken & Waffles were delish! Service was good as well.
Unfriendly, slow service. Everything, including beers, takes forever even when its not busy and the staff are genuinely unpleasant to interact with.
The Sugarbowl is one of my favourite breakfast restaurants in Edmonton. It deserves the reputation that proceeds it. The food is great, the staff are friendly, the aesthetic is nice and they locally source a lot of the food like their bread and coffee from a next-door roastery and café and ethically source their eggs from Four Whistle Farm. There is usually a wait to eat but it is always worth it.
Ate breakfast and couldn t decide between the cinnamon bun and the granola with berries and homemade yogurt .so I got both and couldn t eat again all day I was so full lol Still can t decide between the two, so I am probably doomed to repeat the cycle of a single meal a day every time I eat here because it was so delicious
food is as good as always, can t go wrong with most items on their menus. atmosphere is nice, staff is extremely friendly, service is just a touch slow. overall recommend this place for a casual eat
A VERY strong start to my trip to Edmonton. Our very friendly server recommended the Cinnamon Bun. And every day I thank her for it. I also ordered the House-made Chai Latte, and it s probably the best chai I ve ever had (and I drink a lot of chai!) The cornbread benny was surprisingly delicious as well! I loved the combination of the smoky béchamel, poached eggs, and their house-made cornbread. Even their house-made ketchup was memorable. Overall, a great experience; cozy atmosphere, delicious and filling food, and friendly workers. I will definitely be visiting again before I leave. Vegetarian options: You can substitute the meat for avocado, tomatoes, or mushrooms at no additional charge.
The Cinnamon Bun was so good. Not too sweet and very enjoyable. The Huevos Rancheros was delicious as well. Lots of flavour and very filling. The best part of the meal was our server and how awesome she was. So friendly and welcoming and made the whole experience pleasant. I would definitely return.
Food is fantastic. Love the chicken and waffles. The beer selection is top notch. Place can get very busy creating a slightly less than perfect atmosphere but is still enjoyable Crystal is by far the best server. We never want for anything when she is around.
The best cinnamon roll in history, the Poutine and the burger, sublime. They are Pet friendly! The truth is, everything is fabulous. I will return.
The Sugarbowl is one of my favourite places in Edmonton. Breakfast is amazing. The atmosphere is so chill.
This place is awesome! 4 thumbs up from us!
To be honest, I was excited to try the food but it was honestly really bland... I tried mine and my partners dish and we both agreed are dishes had a lot of sauce but with no seasoning... Our dishes kind of just tasted like nothing. The customer service was great tho and I enjoyed their chai. If I came back, it would only be to drink the chai.
Great breakfast as usual, plus the cinnamon bun is a draw for me
I went Sugarbowl as brunch since I like the brunch menu there The first one is traditional breakfast which is basic breakfast menu, I like the volume of them. Also I like the hash browns. I like the second one which is chicken and waffles I usually don t eat chicken and waffle, but this one was so good and I really liked it. The chicken was thick and juicy, the waffles are fluffy and sweet. The sauce was maybe maple syrup? It was so good.
This restaurant is such a little gem! The service was excellent and the employees were genuinely friendly and helpful. Brian and Crystal were amazing! The food was delicious and our portions were very generous. We would definitely recommend this place and would love to come back when we are in the city again.
An hour to get food. Not acceptable.
Love the open windows and the patio season. Staff are friendly even during the busiest times. The food was just amazing! Dietary restrictions: Good gluten free options
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options Food
Amazing!
Love the food, beer, and vibe. Great place in the City for eating and being with friends.
Love the Sugar Bowl! Great food, cozy setting, great staff and service. They really do their best to accommodate their customers because they care. It can get really busy especially on the weekends but this just confirms what a special place it is. Vegetarian options: Several vegetarian options available and they are all great but I especially like the black bean burger.
Always busy but the service is good. I almost always have their basic breakfast. The sausages were a tiny bit over cooked. Otherwise hash brown potatoes eggs etc were delicious. They have homemade catchup which is so good. Parking: The parking depending on the time of day can be limited behind the Building.
We were not comfortable at all! We were waiting outside to be seated. While there was an empty table, the host put us at the bar and gave the empty table to people who were after us in the line. I felt he is giving the available seats to whom he likes.
Didnt like the host and service!
Tried this place out finally. Amazing food! Little loud in there but I would definitely recommend going
Amazing service, staff and food! We ve been before and it was of course good. But our most recent experience was seriously excellent. The food is seriously unreal and the staff are exceptional! Thanks Sugarbowl!
Always a good vibe here! Also, the most amazing cinnamon buns!! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free Food : 5/5 |
Very busy but also excellent experience
Amazing food and exceptional service.
Everything is 5 star except parking... ½ star, dont drive Food
The service, very slow. Takes 10 min to get a beer. Bathrooms disgusting, please upgrade. Worse than Mexico.
What happened to the old sugar bowl. The lamb burger isn t what it used to be. The poutine was terrible. Service was slow. It was once one of my favourite destinations in Edmonton. I won t be going back.
Beautiful spot at the top of the river valley. Excellent service and food. The Mac N Cheese is outstanding. With the combination of real melted cheese and perfectly cooked spiral noodles, it s a flavour that melts in your mouth and leaves you hoping the bite never ends. I added bacon and jalapeños on top, which turned out to be the perfect addition to mix with the cheddar cheese. Highly recommend taking a chance on the sugar bowl for your next meal.
My wife and I had our first breakfast out together in a literal decade. I was so overwhelmed trying to find a place that wouldnt let us down with everything riding on a once in ten years breakfast LOL. I read reviews, articles, frikkin Quora.... everything. Well, ....Sugarbowl was not over-hyped!!!! At all! This was the most beautiful way to end off our 24 hr date. Not an iota of dissatisfaction. We had: Sugarbowl Benny, the chicken and waffles, London fog, chai latte, cinnamon bun bread pudding, banana cream pie, and cinnamon buns ( to go). Ill be succinct - IT WAS THE BEST BREAKFAST WE EVER HAD! ****Just because we havent eaten out together in 10 years doesnt mean we dont have anything to compare to - we travelled all the time before kids and Ive had beautiful breakfasts traveling alone and work meetings in town over the last ten years** And then there was Sydnee( Or Sidney) - our waitress. What a lovely soul with a bright personality and energy. Made our rare morning out so memorable.
A gem in Edmonton! Amazing beer list, delicious snacks, and dishes, and the atmosphere is perfect! Dinner, late night drinks, Sunday brunch, doesnt matter when you go, its always great!
Had been here once years ago and came in for a brunch reservation. There weren t many check ins throughout the meal, but we understood as there weren t many staff on and service was friendly. We ordered two main courses and a side to share, with two hot drinks. I always order dirty chais, but the one I received here was straight up gross. My friend offered to trade as we didn t have to bother the server, had a few sips but couldn t drink it either (both chai lovers) and asked for it to be switched out. The server Lucie took the almost full chai back and replaced it with another drink. When the bill came, we asked about the charge for the chai. She said that because the ingredients were used we had to be charged for it and that she was unable to take it off the bill. I thought it was ridiculous that we were being charged for a full drink that was taken away and dumped, due to price of ingredients for a drink that was made badly. The drink was only $7.50 of our $82 bill which we still tipped %15 on so it s not about the price. If we were still going to be charged for it, why not offer something to add instead of dumping it out? And why not alert customers that your business doesn t care about their experience and can t cover the $1 it cost to make that drink. Embarrassing to say that to a customer, and for management to send her back out to us with that same answer as well. Wanted to like this place but would rather support a local business that doesn t need customers to cover their waste costs. Won t be back.
I m a HUGE brunch lover. I love eating out for brunch and decided to try this place. food was alright. However, management on February 29th was disappointing. customer service mediocre. slow service when there were about only 2 other tables in the restaurant. first order was not good so we sent it back, replacement order was wrong. charged for both...manager had an issue but failed to table touch, instead sent the server to deal. Extremely unprofessional and off putting. never coming back.
Really enjoyed everything about this place. It was my first time to go there after I looked online for someplace different to go. And definitely will be back!
Just stopped in for hot drinks. It was such a beautiful establishment. Great customer service.
Love the Sugarbowl. Great brunch place with good coffee and adult drinks if youre in the mood. The menu isnt huge, but with changing specials theres always a reason to go back. And, you can pop in to Kaffa upstairs while you wait for a table, because its always busy.
Great Spot for a bite to eat with great company!
Great service and a delicious breakfast.
Good food and very friendly service
Food was too expensive for how it tasted. I wish they would have added less salt
Tried to eat here this past Sunday. Was greeted at the door by a young man. There was 2 tables of 4 seats clean & empty and another one getting up to leave. The young man told us there was 5 groups in front of us ranging from 4-5 people (there was only 2 of us). He said the wait is at least 20 minutes. We asked if we could sit at the empty bar while we wait. He said once we sit there, we aren t allowed to move. So we said we would wait outside, he said once we sit outside, we cannot move either. We gave our phone number to be put on the list. The host said if we change our mind, just don t answer his call when he calls. As we talked about it, we decided that 5 groups in front of us, the restaurant not being that big to start with, no certain time frame when a table will become available but the deciding point for us not to stay and wait was the factor we couldn t sit somewhere else (bar or outside) while we wait, so we left. We started driving to another place for brunch. 10 minutes later, they called which is disappointing because we were already driving away and there is no way that 5 other groups sat before us so others felt the same way we did. We didn t answer the call because they already lost us. Then 4 minutes later they called again which was weird, obviously they had openings and were now struggling to fill seats after turning everyone away. I don t know if the food is good or not but the service at the front door was terrible. But for the record, we had an amazing brunch at Local in South Common.
Restaurant coffee shop, well known place. Lots of customers.
Very nice, was very pleased with everything. Need to park in the alley.
Ive been going to Sugarbowl as long as I can recall. Its places like this that define a community and a city. Thanks for the great service and amazing food Sugarbowl. Its always a treat.
Love the portion size! Healthy & fulfilling sandwich!!
The atmosphere is superb, the cocktails were excellent and the service was friendly. Really impressed by the food given the size of the kitchen as well, the menu is very gastro pub but in a good way.
Sugar Bowl is one of the go-to brunch spots around the UofA. I d give them 9/10 for their vibrant atmosphere and the following must-try items: - Cinnamon Bun: Consider calling beforehand to make sure they are not sold out - Chicken and Waffle - Drinks, i.e. Fruli
Decent food, I had the chicken and waffles which was good (ask for some Tabasco or hot sauce). Great service and lovely vibe. Sadly, the Cinnabon buns were out.
Great place to get a drink with friends. Atmosphere is just great.
I joined friends for brunch while they were in Edmonton for the holidays. While I ve been here in the past, and know their food to be excellent, I ve developed a medical issue over the last several years, and I m currently unable to eat out at restaurants due to numerous intolerances. When the server took the orders, and I said nothing for me, thanks, she told me they usually have a minimum charge. I explained about my intolerances, and she let it go. In 4yrs of being unable to eat at restaurants, this is the first time I ve ever been approached about a minimum charge. I understand if I were on my own, taking up a seat at a restaurant, and not ordering anything. However, I was with others, AND, this is a medical issue. There are several conditions that make it unsafe or impossible for people to eat at restaurants (not to mention religious reasons like fasting). As such, this policy is rather discriminatory I shouldn t have to disclose why I am or am not eating, and I should not be penalized for not ordering. When the bill came, I had my friend double check to make sure I wasn t actually charged. While there was no charge for not ordering a meal, I was charged $1 for the 300ml of hot water I drank. This is also the first time I ve experienced a charge for water from any restaurant that I ve joined friends at in the last 4yrs. Fortunately, my condition has the potential for recovery, and I hope to order menu items again someday. However, after this experience, I m hesitant to return to the Sugarbowl.
Very affordable brunch place, with a cozy ambience and good food!
Still the best hidden gem Ive eaten at.
Hung out with wifey and kids and found out it was actually greater than I thought. Had waffles and some mix and match alcoholic coffee but everyone enjoyed it. There is just one drawback is I dont like to be rush when ordering. Knowing you are changing from brunch to enening menu doesnt have to rush me. But I will definitely come back.
Eclectic place to get a breakfast, food and atmosphere was excellent. Parking: Park behind the building! Food : 5/5 |
Cute little supper spot with a ton of local and microbrewery beers. Ample menu with finer than expected food. Small and cozy dining room with a rustic and urban feel. Local art presented for sale throughout the dining room. Tiny bathrooms that could use a remodel. Every menu item I have tried was well prepared and delicious. Chicken and waffles, lamb burger, and paprika popcorn are my favourites. Whopping servings of fresh desserts if you can stomach it. ***Top five favorite spots for grub in edmonton.*** Parking: May take some creativity to find parking. Be prepared to walk a ways.
Good food in huge portions
Stay away from the veggie burger. It ll make you question your meatless life choice. It s akin to eating a burger stuffed with bread. They need to rethink it. No pickles in house, no freshness on the bun. Atmosphere is nice. Soup was alright once salt and peppered proper. Service was average at best. Vegetarian options: Don t do it
I dont EVER leave reviews, but the food and service were so exceptional, I had to log into Google and leave a shoutout for the SB crew haha the sour dough sandwich bread and cinnamon rolls must be made in-house and are to die for! Ill be telling the world now lol long live Sugar Bowl!!
Not worth the hype. Overpriced breakfast.
Lovely staff! Can get busy, but that s to be expected! Go for the kindness of the staff and the quality of the food!
I love this place so much! So good.
Ive been eating here for over ten years, and its always been a warm and friendly place for good food.
I am not one to jump to Google Reviews easily, but I had a very disrespectful experience last night at Sugarbowl. I met for a drink with my good friend and her mom after their show at the Jubilee. We had 1 drink and decided to order another at last call 10:30 pm Immediately after ordering, the staff started closing duties. We apologized for making them stay late in which they replied, take your time, we have a lot of work to do. We received our drinks at 10:40pm, and at 11:05 pm (without any warning) the bartender started playing loud baby-crying sounds over the restaurant for approximately 1 full minute. Staff were hiding behind the bar and snickering. I understand the staff were wanting to leave, and if someone were to approach our table and politely ask us to leave we would have been more than willing. I felt and still feel very disrespected and will not be returning.
Took my pup here, and the staff were all supper friendly to him. The Chai tea late with oat milk was amazing!
Nice place with friendly waitresses. Food was so tasty and delicious. I love chicken and waffle. This place is so nice to eat and chat with your friends. Not too far from the University but somewhat difficult to find a parking spot. They opens from 9AM to 11PM everyday. Recommended!!
Had a quick desert while flying back from Edmonton Banana Cream pie & flat white coffee , trust me missing the flight was a worth , lol
Didnt eat here...just came for drinks later in the evening and enjoyed the laid back atmosphere...but was surprised that we just made it in time as they were locking their doors at 10pm (and losing customers who arrived just after that and were puzzled over the locked door) when the place is listed as closing at 11pm. Does the owner know the staff are regularly doing this? Why not just change the posting if they all want to knock off earlier? Maybe a labour issue? Who knows.
Food was mediocre at best for its price. Service was pretty bad. The servers stat behind us and seemed to be more into their conversation than doing their job. Lamb burger was delicious but the poutine was bland and the soup tasted off. Atmosphere was sort of run down and seemed cheap, there was a draft in the building and it was a bit chilly. Surprised this place was sub par given the good reviews.
Best latte in the city, the cinnamon buns are amazing and the rotating breakfast sandwich is always spot on
The food was excellent, as well as service. The music was perfect for background, perfect to have a calm meal there. Food
Had a nice brunch there and have been many times before. Great place for a casual meal with a friend or friends.
Excellent food, atmosphere and great beers on tap! We are from Calgary but always stop in here when we are in the Ed. My mom loved the Eggs Benny.
This is one of the best places in Edmonton to get real European beer, with great food and frendly service, highly recommended
The pulled pork sandwich paired with soup was delicious & very filling. The sandwich was huge, I could barely fit in my mouth & so juicy, I would definitely order again & will be back.
Went for a later dinner on Saturday night with my partner and it was awesome. I got the chicken and waffles with their rotational drink (chai something?). My partner got the bison chili with a strawberry beer. We then shared a banana cream pie and it was phenomenal! Great portion sizes and our waitress was so kind. Would definitely recommend for a night out!
A Landmark
Funky little pub, coffee house style. Huge craft beer selection. Friendly staff. Happy hour prices late afternoon including most beer and good wings
This is an amazing place to just sit in there and sip a cup of tea. Food is also great. Parking: Parking is just across the street, but paid. Not too expensive though. Kid-friendliness: It is for sure.
staff: waitress was friendly and efficient - she was busy. service: quick establishment: cozy, just off the high level bridge, near UofA campus and white avenue. food: great flavour and portions.
My mom and I had a great morning here. It was quiet and comfortable. Only complaint would be the lack of parking.
Wonderfully noisy and chatty neighborhood restaurant. Had to sit at the bar rather than wait for a table but we didnt mind. We like bars, especially copper-topped ones, as they remind us of our old haunt in Connecticut. Unfortunate incident with spilled sauce on my old leather shirt but accidents happen. Appreciated the gesture of complimentary drinks on our bill and well be back regardless. The food is outstanding and the staff are superb in their accommodation. Great espresso btw.
Absolutely delish!!! Chicken and waffles were so good! Had a generous side (3 slices) of bacon, which was nice and thick and yummy. Get there early if you want the homemade cinnamon buns (we missed out unfortunately). Nice variety of drinks. Atmosphere is really great; warm, welcoming, trendy and eclectic. Will definitely come back!
Its been a while since we have been here. But no fear - the food the service everything - is still excellent. I had the Eggs Benny and it comes on cornbread. It was excellent. Adds some flavor and it soaks up the egg yolk nicely. Eggs cooked perfectly, house made hollandaise, house made ketchup for my gosh browns - which are not the deep fried variety. My wife had the feta and spinach omelette and said several times how good it was. Even the toast was so good there was no need to add jam. Service was excellent and fast considering how busy they were. We wont wait so long to come back again!
Really great food and drink selection. Best import beer selection in Edmonton.
Its one of the best restaurants in Edmonton, Im not sure how you dont know that already though. Go to High-level Diner too while youre there. Vegetarian options: There are some good vegetarian options, but I dont think there are many vegan options. Dietary restrictions: They accepted modifications to the dishes we ordered (within reason, things like sauce on the side, separate plates, and removing or substituting) and Im confident theyd accommodate most requests to alter food within their capabilities. Parking: The lot across the street is reserved for the dentists office there, and for High-level Diner. Id go on a night that High-level is closed and just park on their spots (Ive never been ticketed for this, but I cant guarantee itll never happen.)
This is one of my favorite spots. The food is always good, and the atmosphere is amazing. I love the chicken and waffles.
5-stars all around! Excellent food, service and atmosphere! Taylor was the best and recommended a brilliant Belgian beer as well as two different IPAs for my friend TJ. We had an excellent time and hope to be back one day in the future.
Best vibe ever Drive here from our of town to have an amazing breakfast Great coffee Amazing food Great atmosphere Waitress (Jenn) is/was absolutely amazing
Great, every time
This is a really lovely restaurant with really kind employees. The service was fast and friendly. The menu was diverse and had something for everyones taste. The food was phenomenal and was very gourmet for the price you pay. The burgers were definitely an excellent choice!!
Good beer selection!
Love this restaurant - great vibe and food is so tasty. Super busy today so didnt have the best service, but I assume the staff had their hands full! The homemade chai latte is to die for. 10/10 recommend Food
Scrumptious breakfast, and now the barista knows how to make a cortado!
Ordered a gift card online for a friends a bday waiting 24 hours nothing was emailed. Called and was told I d get a call from a manager. 2 emails and 5 phone calls over 6 days and finally I got a call back from a manager at this point I was told their gift cards are a third party and not much they can do, luckily master card has better customer service.
