10643 123 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5N 1P2, Canada
Buzzy high-end eatery with a rustic-chic interior serving imaginative farm-to-table cuisine.
One of our favourite restaurants in Edmonton, and often a go to for special occasions. This time we went to celebrate a milestone birthday. The quality and flavour of meat is outstanding, service is impeccable but unpretentious, and somehow the atmosphere is great for a date night as well for groups. The handwritten card signed by staff members was a very nice and unexpected touch. Love Rge Rd!!!
Went for dinner and was treated incredibly well from the service, food and overall vibe. The kitchen sent a few tasty items out complimentary and the server was very knowledgeable about the menu making recommendations. We were treated to a tour of the kitchen after dinner. Well done living up to the reputation as one of the best restaurants in Edmonton.
This restaurant was recommended to us by American Express. Was amazed with the softest and most tender bison meat I’ve tried! The desert was very light and delicious too. Service was amazing, the restaurant was a bit dark. The food was all good, the Philippines bun was great but could use a bit more seasoning; however, every other dish is very good!
Extraordinary! Simply one of the best restaurant experiences we have had. We elected to try the Road Trip option and it was a culinary masterpiece. Our server Rob was the best as well. He made the evening special for us and did he ever know his stuff. I could go on and on and you would not get a negative word from either of us about our supper and the whole package at Rng Rd. We decided to turn over the reins to Rob for our drinks as well making it a complete adventure. We were not disappointed! 3.5 hours of complete and utter satisfaction.
Went here for a small staff dinner and we opted to try the tasting menu. Definitely one of the most unique dining experiences I’ve had in a while and the service was fantastic. While the was good, it didn’t blow me away. Overall, the food was quite delicious but I felt that some courses were better than others and the way the tasting menu was presented didn’t always make sense. I will say that they are definitely good at what they do, since the steak was the best part of the menu and if I were to come back for one thing it would be the steak.
I had one of the best T-bone steaks here – juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. The atmosphere was fantastic, and our server was incredibly attentive and friendly. He took the time to introduce us to different cuts and types of meat. The dishes were surprisingly good, exceeding our expectations. Based on the numerous positive reviews, we had high hopes for this restaurant, and it did not disappoint. We're so glad we chose this place for dinner!
We went to RNG RD for our anniversary dinner, and it was an incredible experience. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, making the night even more special. We ordered the porterhouse, and it was cooked to perfection – tender, flavorful, and more than enough to share. The quality and value were outstanding. We’ll definitely be back for another special occasion!
We made reservations(recommended) at Rge Rd for a birthday supper after hearing about the "Road Trip." The restaurant itself is not very big, cute, and cozy. The ambiance was really nice, and the service was top-notch. There was a great selection of drinks - I had an imperial chocolate raspberry stout which was very good but definitely for those who enjoy a thick beer on the palate - I do, so it was perfect. We ordered the scotch eggs to start as we've made them at home but wanted to try them here. The chef did an amazing job on the dish, the egg was cooked perfectly. Then we started our trip. It consisted of seven plates, each very different from the next and each delicious in its own way. The bread basket with the house made butter was so good. The butter alone was a favorite - order this!! We very much enjoyed our meal and left very full despite what seemed to be small plates - don't be fooled. Worth the price and would recommend. We will be back to order from the menu. Thanks for a great birthday supper.
Incredible.
Great food. Love the local approach.
A top restaurant in Edmonton.
Most disappointing experience ever. Booked two weeks in advance for my husbands 50th with certain dietary restrictions. Nothing over the top. With him getting a an appetizer with severely burnt toast which over powered the whole dish. Along with steak undercooked and inedible. Dessert that he couldnt eat. When you make plans so you have can a fantastic experience and it is so disappointing you go home hungry and it cost you more than what its worth. It makes you want to cry. More so when your family joins and receives just as bad of a meal. Total bill would have been about $1500-$2000. Of hard earned money. Never again. Never never.
It was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance was inviting and cozy, perfect for a relaxed meal. The staff ( ciera, alena, zuzana, and marvin) were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, which made our dining experience even better. The food was absolutely outstanding each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. From the appetizers to the main course and dessert, everything was perfectly cooked. Overall, the service, food, and atmosphere all came together for a memorable dining experience. I ll definitely be returning and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a top-notch meal. Five stars all the way!
Incredible food, love the concept of local food offered. We had a person unable to attend, was charged anyway. Had we known we would have brought him his meal.
We go here once a year for my fiances birthday. We have never had a bad experience - such a delicious place!
Excellent restaurant
RGE RD joined us for our client s outdoor All Is Bright Festival and they were such a fantastic addition! Their hotdogs were absolutely delicious perfect comfort food for the occasion. The team was friendly, efficient, and brought such a great vibe to the day. Highly recommend them for any event!
We did the Road Trip and it was great. Our server was attentive and engaging and so much fun. The entire evening was a great experience. Dietary restrictions: I called ahead and had no issues with needing to be gluten and dairy free.
I have been at company party there and they have poisoned me. Now I have constipation.
This was my first time here, I had the rib-eye steak and it was perfectly cooked, and the Drink was phenomenal! Overall 10/10
What can I say that hasnt already been said by reviewers a hundred times before? This place is amazing! Finally was able to get a spot recently, and was not at all disappointed. I had seen many recommendations for the Road Trip blind tasting menu, and I am very thankful we decided to do it. If its within your means, I highly recommend it. Service was phenomenal, and the vibe inside is cozy and welcoming.
Parking: Nose to tail dining, so alternating cuts of meat available. Food
This restaurant is a must in Edmonton dining. They took extra care in all ways to ensure the experience was tailored to perfection.
Food was bland. Seafood was not fresh, we informed the waiter but he didn t do anything with that information nor apologized. Uncomfortable seating. Steak not cooked to order and very confusing that the menu was mostly verbal. Wine was good.
Meat lovers will go crazy here.
Its a nice place. The service was good, and the ambiance is amazing. The food is okay. I was expecting something better for the price I paid, to be honest. The dessert menu is pretty basic, and be careful if you dont eat meat. Even though they offer some pescatarian options, my wife ended up with a severe stomach ache because there was probably some meat (pork or beef) in the dessert sauce.
Food was delicious and service was top notch. Neat restaurant with great attention to detail. I had the Business and my wife had the cod and she raved about it. We sat in the Butchery section and found that it was quite cold, even with 2 space heaters.
My friend and I came and did the tasting tour, highly recommend, everything was amazing. Absolutely phenomenal staff, very pleased with the entire experience and cannot wait to come back and try a new tasting course!
Ive been to Rng Rd a few times in the past year or so and have loved each and every experience ive had, The servers are all very attentive and on top of things, The food is fresh and delicious! I would reccomend if you arent on a budget (which this isnt the place to come if your budgeting any wase) the road trip tasting menu, Gotten it twice now and each time you get new things that are uniqe and fun and creative. If your looking for a nice date night, or just want to diversify your pallet and try some new things I highly reccomend giving Rng Rd a try.
I came here last week for the first time and we were blown away. The drinks, the atmosphere , the service and the FOOD were all 10/10 ! We Had the wagu beef tartare , the scotch eggs and two steaks ( filet and sirloin ) all cooked perfect and delicious. All Local and such a unique and creative menu . I cant say enough good things ! Thank you Mathew K and the RGE RD team a unforgettable evening !
Everything about this place is amazing atmosphere and food! They have the most amazing steaks I like how everything is local so it switches up my favourite place to go
Delicious food. Great atmosphere.
RGE RD is an amazing food experience, showcasing local food and talent. Servers are friendly and help with making choices best suited to you. Loved the salmon with beet starter and their take on Chicken Kiev.
Wow, what a dinning experience. Service was awesome, food was some of the best Ive had in a long time. Great cocktail, wine and beer lists to choose from and amazing atmosphere all around. The Road Trip option is definitely the way to go. A must visit in YEG. Visited again today for the 4th time and do not feel the need to change any of my previous reviews.
Always an incredible dinning experience!
Little small inside considering the prices you can pay via menu. Not a ton of privacy. The food was great but for the price I was not satisfied. 200 plus on a bill for lower end steaks. All in all it was good but for the price I would have expected to leave thinking wow that was amazing. Staff were educated but didnt have many steak cuts in stock either was very limited.
My husband and I were here for dinner and the experience was incredible. I have some dietary restrictions and they went above and beyond. We had an amazing meal and the cheese board was probably the best I have ever had. Thank you to our server and the whole team for making it a lovely experience, we will definitely be back.
The food was good but the plates were deficient in vegetables! Very few vegetables on offer in the appetizer section either.
My husband and I went here for my birthday dinner. Prior to our reservation my husband had called in to inform them that I was a celiac and was hoping to still order the tasting menu. Much to my surprise, they were happy to accommodate my dietary restrictions. Both my husband and I ordered the tasting menu and pairing. Typically when asking for a gluten free alternative, the substitutions are disappointing and subpar. However, each course was exquisitely unique from the last and full of flavour. I didnt feel like I was settling at all! The pairings were also different from my husbands but complimented each course beautifully. Inside it is quite charming and romanticly lit. While the tables are quite close and this wouldnt be the place to discuss a serious family matter given the lack of privacy, the clear focal point of this restaurant is clearly the fresh, professionally, deliciously and beautifully prepared courses. I should also send a nod to the service which was perfectly timed and flawless. We were well looked after; each beverage and course was explained with excitement and in great detail, and we never felt suffocated or lost in search of our server. My husband, who typically is not a foody, has now become one thanks to this memorable experience. A special thanks to the Rge Rd team for our wonderful dining experience. We look forward to our next visit! Dietary restrictions: Gluten-friendly options
Had an amazing engagement party there tonight, absolutely amazing, we had the best waiter on earth, amazing experience
The service was attentive and the atmosphere was cozy. The elk dish was cooked to perfection and the flavors were outstanding. Definitely recommend trying it out if youre in the area!
Top class food, excellent service, rustic ambience. If the cost does not scare you, it is totally worth it.
Servers know their stuff, we asked for a surprise meal and got an amazing array of flavours! Also, they do a fun suprise drink.. I recommend visiting if you enjoy chefs choice meals!
Overall I had a very enjoyable experience, until I got the main dish for my road trip experience. I had no issue with the servers or the speed of service. I had been recommended this restaurant from a friend, and was told to try the course menu road trip for a unique catered experience. He told me about Bison and Elk meat hed had, and I was excited to try new unique cuisine focused around a delicious exotic main protein dish! The courses were all very good and well presented, the servers were enthusiastic and informative, there was even a nice bread spread. Waiting for my main, my thoughts were roaming, maybe a nice cut of steak, beef, elk, even Bison! I was very excited. Until I was presented with, probably one of the worst cuts of meat on the market... No matter how well its cooked... I was served a pork loin. My main course in a $110 meal was a chunk of a $10 cut of meat? I was absolutely taken aback. I was genuinely surprised this was even an option. The sauce it had was nice, but man for a main course I was grossly underwhelmed. Especially at that price point. And the portion was small. One slice of pork loin, that I ate in about 1 minute. Take this item out of the rotation. I have shared my experience with friends whove been to the restaurant and they were genuinely upset for me, and the one that introduced me to the establishment even felt bad for recommending the restaurant in the first place, which I just found funny. Id like to go back and try again, but now Im concerned what I might get, its a safer bet just going to a quality steak house and ordering a nice rib-eye to get your value. I left having spent a fair bit of money, had the 7 course meal, a few drinks and a LOT of bread. And I was still hungry.
Great place, friendly staff. I go every week on thirsdays to the Bucher shop right behind the restraint. Good place
Consistently amazing food and service.
Love it!!
Amazing! Tried the tasting menu, and the flavours were spectacular and unique. I could taste the joy and care the food was prepared with. The service was amazing, with limited interaction but always there for anything needed. Overall 5 stars, and I will be back!
This was my first visit and I ll definitely eat here again. We were celebrating a low-key birthday. The staff were genuine, pleasant and understood we were all keen foodies. The meals were lovely, delicious and well explained by our server, Matt, who laughed at our jokes and brought us everything with speed and grace. We had appetizers and I had a big ribeye. Everything was cooked right and proper. Great experience and highly recommended.
Yeah its fine. Did the Road trip tasting menu without pairings. Im not a picky eater it wasnt bad just wasnt good. Service was fine too. Wouldnt go back but also wouldnt actively avoid.
Absolutely amazing food and service
Great service perfect food
Parking: The parking in front/directly surrounding the restaurant is pretty limited but, if you can manage a spot, the food and service is certainly worth it! Food
Food and ambiance is amazing. I just wish there are more options especially for vegan/vegetarian. Overall a wonderful experience. Place was packed during the weekday, highly recommend to reserve a table!
Matt was our server tonight and did absolutely amazing! Ate The Roadtrip which I would recommend. The staff was very knowledgeable about everything that came out. Can t wait to dine here again.
This was our first time dining at Rge Rd, and it truly left an impression. We have never had a better experience. My wife got the flat iron steak and she thought it was great, extremely tender and well flavoured. I went with the elk dish and it was delicious as well. There was not a negative thing mentioned between us during our visit. Even the bread and butter were great. The ambiance is good and it is very well kept. We have already planned our next visit. Service was also great, very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. We look forward to coming back.
Best food ever and the road trip is worth it!!
It was amazingly delicious! All the food and experience was just perfect.
Took my son here for his birthday. It was beautiful and a night for him to remember. They had a signed birthday card with a recipe waiting for him on the table. His dessert had a candle The staff was kind and friendly. This is a young man who loves his food growing up in Chicago eating at Alinea, Moto under the late Homaro Cantu needed good eats. His dining room was the restaurants of Chicago. Now a University student at U of A we decided to treat him and he was in heaven. Happy to find a piece of home in Edmonton. Thank you to the staff for the exceptional hospitality, as a family we were very happy to enjoy our evening with you and your tasting menu. If you get the chance to go it is definitely a must! There is also ample parking on the street if the lot is full.
We.jad a great experience on our first visit. Started with the perogies and Scotch egg followed by the Bison and buthchers cit of beef All dishes had amazing flavors, texture and presentation , staff was helpful and knowledge of the menu. Great work Rge.Rd. team And the true test is I cannot wait to go back.
For the moment we were seated until we left our server kept reminding us that our table was reserved and we needed to hurry with our food. For what we were served the price was ridiculous. I would not recommend the The blind tasting. We won t be back!
In fairness, had a good meal here last time, but was seated at a much better table on the Southside of the restaurant ( to the right ) when I saw we would be in the packed Northside ( to the left ) wedged in a loud space. Bad start. First course Scotch Egg, delicious like the last time, accompanying salad underwhelming. Also ordered a cheese plate, it never came. Mains were two Ribeyes, server mentioned steaks were between $45 and $100 as it s off the menu, ours were $125 each. Asked for Medium Rare, server said That s the only way we cook them Wrong, came Rare ( almost Blue ) and must have been cooked in plastic bag filled with water. Soggy and too charred. Most egregious, claimed it came with Hash really? Maybe two spoonfuls and fresh vegetables? Invisible. I m just a customer, but I can tell you my wife and I have eaten all over California, Washington State, Nevada well, let s just stick with disappointed, love to support local and everyone has a bad night, but go to the Post Hotel instead.
Efficient, knowledgeable service, although not particularly friendly or welcoming. Rhubarb salad was amazing, but the main course dishes (salmon, bison) were too salty. Panna cotta dessert was lovely. Dark, windowless dining area is stuffy (in lacks ventilation). Wondering if reputation is rooted more in pretention than ability to actually execute. Not bad, but not great. Im surprised to see the high star rating.
Went here for the vision they talk about, whole animal butchery, unique flavours. Did the tasting menu, food was okay but huge misalignment on the vision, felt like some random steak place also serving random dishes from cultures. If youve traveled around the world and eaten how some of this stuff should taste, youd realize its a miss on the cultures flavours. Maybe the regular menu is better, but expected the tasting menu to expose people to other parts of the animal more. Service quality was great though, just think the branding needs to be changed and so expectations are properly set. Also expected the furniture and stuff to be made out of the animals youre eating, since whole animal butchery, that would have at least made it seem more vision aligned.
Attended a large party dinner here. We all had the tasting menu and it was fantastic. Perfectly portioned and the flavors were fresh and local. We all had a great time! Dietary restrictions: They were very accommodating to dietary restrictions
Do the Road trip!!! Honestly you will not be disappointed and will end up trying the most amazing creations!
Fantastic restaurant. Feels like a hidden gem. Did the road trip experience and all 6 courses were excellent. Alanna was very friendly and knowledgeable. Everyone we talked was very pleasant and helpful. Great drink selections Food
id recommend trying this just for the experience and if you have money burning a hole in your pocket. if you and your friends like doing dumb stuff id try out the tasting menu and having a good laugh(trust me). depending when you go its either meh or good but really worth the experience. the actual menu currently is good but boring, nothing special. every item tastes as expected.
We were party of 7 people on business dinner. The food is fresh, locally sourced and steaks were well prepared. However the service was arrogant, she have not bring out few items we asked for, took long time to get our drinks and was rude when I asked her if she perhaps forgot my wine. The menu is very confussing. At this price point we would expect better service. They automatically add 18% service charge. Would not dine here again. The food was good but you can get same steak somewhere else with much better service for this price or less.
One of the best restaurants Ive ever been too. Every dish was a hit and they kept comin. Yeah, its expensive but at least you feel like youre getting amazing food. Cant say that about most places these days.
Best steak Ive had in the city, Ill definitely keep coming back Parking: Small parking lot, and theres limited street parking nearby Food : 5/5 |
Had an amazing time there, will go back again!
What a great gastronomical experience! The steak is to die for! They didn t ask for the level of doneness, and I totally get why. They re an expert! The doughnuts with foie gras tasted so uniquely interesting, bursting with flavorssss. Of course, the service is great. Everyone was friendly, they even made us an anniversary greeting card. Rge Rd is finally off my bucket list, and I will surely be back again to try the road trip.
When you enter range road, the delicious smell of smoked meat fills the room. It immediately made me ravenous for whatever they were cooking up in the back. The smashed Burger was phenomenal. The price was on point for a lunch burger. I will be going back again!
Had a wonderful experience here tonight! Our server, Rob, was delightful. He was knowledgeable and seemed genuinely excited to share information about the ingredients and how they are locally sourced. The food was phenomenal, high quality but fairly priced. I enjoyed the quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Fine dining without any pretentiousness.
Food was fantastic. Highly recommend ordering the road trip. Every course was delicious and just a great experience. Shannon was awesome and made sure we were taken care of. Will be going back.
Great food, great service. The limited menu. I will visit again very soon.
Reserved a table for six for a celebratory supper. Sampled the full spectrum of the menu from the appetizers to dessert. With one exception, we all had the market special steak, which was a 6 ounce sirloin served with layered potato for $39; reasonable, considering how much steakcosts at the grocery store. Perfectly cooked to our preference besides sauce for dipping. The desserts were very filling and we split by couple; we had the sponge cake and our friends enjoyed the small ice cream cake. Our server was from Scotland and had a pleasant personality and just the right amount of contact to be attentive, but not intrusive. Some parking out front and not too busy in the area for street parking also. Large accessible bathroom.
Our service was great. The restaurant was very celiac friendly, the waiter walked me through which items would be safe and was very helpful. Definitely going to go back soon.
Everything about this place was 5 star. The food was amazing.
Probably the best meal of my life and incredible service
What a great experience! The restaurant decor gives it a very unique feel and the food and service with both great. It s a little out of the way though and I wish they had drought beer but these are minor complaints. Definitely worth a visit.
Top notch food and service, one of the best restaurants in the city by far.
Our first visit. It is fairly small but the vibe is good. We ordered the following: a beet salad with creme fraiche for $ 17 (5 star) Bread with butter for $ 7 (5 Star) 6 oz sirloin steak (Angus) with 1 scalloped potato and a few green beans for $ 39. The scalloped potato was edible but it was not scalloped right at all. The steak itself was tender and with the sauce the cook put on top it was easy to chew. I dont agree with the popularity of lean meat in general and would prefer to see breeds like Hereford or Charolais, but that is not for this review. I would have given 5 star for the steak but the potato makes it a 4 star. 2 glasses of red Frind wine. (1 star) for $18 per glass. We ordered ginger beer to pour in the wine to make it drinkable. We ordered dessert: one something something brulée for $ 15 (1 star) One honey cake (2 star) Our total with tip came to $ 154 or $ 77 per person.
The most amazing experience for a close friends birthday. The atmosphere is inviting while being relaxing, with a rustic touch, and the food is beyond anything one could expect! The servers are knowledgeable and can inform you on the minute details of each dish! Truly an experience to remember, and highly recommend!
Eat there last week and had a wonderful time. The servers are great, food was amazing and love the atmosphere. Will be going back for sure.
Did the road trip with wine pairings.. was superb .. service was incredible.. really a must do if you are a foodie..
The quality of the food here is another level as well as the service. We went for work and will definitely go back. All their dishes are delicious and their home made bread to die for!
Our server was amazing!
I loved the atmosphere, its a smaller space, so less people and chatter, the music isnt loud, and the food is spectacular. Its pricey, but for local fresh food, its a lovely place to go on a date. Reservation needed .
I was treated to my 30th birthday dinner experience here, hosted in the old butcher room. We did the road trip experience and it was exceptional. We felt every dish except maybe one (which was still good) was fabulous. We felt the price was justified for the experience and quality, and I would do it again without question. They even gave me a little birthday card :)
I ate here a couple months ago and meant to drop a review. I was told about this from a family member. He was telling me about the scotch egg and many other good quality plates they had. I was excited to try it out. First off all it s in the hood, across from a Cash Canada lol, my bad for not knowing the dress code. I will take fault for that one. The food was good, compliments to the cooking staff. The dessert was amazing. The service was meh, the waiting staff sold us on a tour of Canada like different provinces different ideas form the regions. Really it was just BC & AB .. near the end rounds of the dining experience the plates were just dropped in front of us .. like an annoyed partner feeding their loved one. Atmosphere ..parking could be more accommodating, the one bathrooms near the open area where people s tables are gave off a Godfather vibe. Tbh for the price I paid (450 for 3 people plus tip) and still I was hungry ..Not too sure if it was worth the bang for the buck lol Maybe I need to order off menu and not the experience.
This place is so good !! One of my favorite dinner spots in town ! What an amazing meal and tasty cocktails, super nice vibe for a small space !my advice would be to go hungry and try everything Food
Very good experience. Food was on point and service was fantastic. Would highly recommend
Alena was our server and she was wonderful!
It was our First time here and we cannot wait to go back; service, food and ambiance were spectacular.
The food was delicious. The wait staff were very courteous and well informed. They had the grace to give us privacy, while being attentive. Good value for the investment. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes wheelchair accessible.
We had wonderful time at Rge Rd Service was outstanding , food was very good Food
Amazing food! Probably the best food Ive ever had. The 4 of us had the Gnocchi, The Bison, The Alberta Pork and the 9 oz. Rib Eye. All were fabulous! The Tres Leche dessert was delish! Also tried the Pink Peppercorn ice cream! WOW! So good. Highly recommended. I will definately be back. Sacha our waiter was amazing and explained everything wonderfully!
Rge Rd was a fantastic place to eat. Everything was excellent. The food was amazing, the service was fantastic, and the atmosphere is perfectly on point for the style of restaurant that it is. We started with the tartare, which was some of the best that I have ever had. The scotch egg was also really good, and a good size for two people. Our waiter walked us through their always changing beef selections and was very knowledgeable about the wine selection. For a place to get dressed up and have a nice dinner out, Rge Rd rates high on my list. Its not cheap, but it is worth it.
Great experience. Great food, knowledgeable and attentive staff, and an intimate ambiance. Would definitely recommend.
C-air-a was the culinary guide that led us to a magical journey of amazing wine and food pairing. Highlights including sablefish & beef tartar! The team there is passionate and it shows. Definitely opt for the road trip blind tasting menu, it was by far the best dinner Ive had in a long time.
We were there for my hubbys birthday. Reservation is a must. The ambiance is nice and cozy. Our server was friendly and helpful . Excellent service! I love to support local , its a farm to table concept. The housemate mustard butter and bread were exceptional. My hubby had the Wagyu beef, and he loved it. It was incredibly tender and buttery. Overall , it was a great experience. The menu changes frequently. There is always something new to try.
Excellent food and service
An incredible local carnivore culinary experience. Final bill came in a little under what we expected. The atmosphere could use some more strategic lighting or different paint. But I d recommend it and will come again next time I m in Edmonton.
We came in for my friends birthday tonight and Rob was magnificent! Top tier service from beginning to end! Tha you for the amazing experience.
If you want an amazing tasting menu go to Rge Rd and do the road trip. End of story. Great locally sourced food and the multiple course road trip changes completely quarterly so you can always go back and have a new awesome tasting menu that will blow your mind
I ve eaten here a couple times now, and overall I find it pretty underrated. The service is great, but one of the biggest issues I have is how many tables they try to cram in such a tiny room. If you go there on a date and they seat you at a table of 2, it s likely that you re sandwiched in between 2 other tables of 2, and you can hear every word being said during the 2 dates happening on either side of you! Very hard to have any romance in that atmosphere. Last time I was there we ordered the $7 bread and butter, and the bread was literally burnt. I can t believe they sent it out at a restaurant of this quality. Lots of the food is great, but I think you can find much better spots in Edmonton at these prices. Parking: There s a free parking lot but it s very small and often completely full, so you usually need to park a block away on the street and walk over. Street parking is very full anywhere near the restaurant.
Update Feb 3rd, 2024 Yet again another spectacular evening at Rge Rd. Celebrating our 12 year wedding anniversary in your restaurant! Yet again we chose the Road Trip, and our server Rob was incredible. We have had the pleasure of being being waited on by Rob several times now and he never fails to disappoint. Rge Rd is truthfully unparalleled in YEG and every single component in your dining experience goes unmatched. Love spending our special nights here and will continue to do so. -Tyler Thank you Rge Rd for an incredible evening. We were celebrating a work event and service and food was spectacular. We love your quiet, cozy room and intimate setting. Our table of six enjoyed the road trip, your Crusted Berkshire with the celeriac parsnip purée was to die for. Absolutely incredible contrast of textures, remarkable flavour, fresh ingredients, seasoning, presentation. All of the dishes were fantastic as always. Thank you again
Everything was nearly perfect and enjoyed the food and atmosphere staff are very nice and accommodating. Recommend anything here is delicious.
So the food tastes delicious but upon making it home my stomach has been turning and Ive used the bathroom several times. Mild food poisoning? Possibly. Service was the worst experience Ive had in a while. I dont know if I was treated differently than my partner because Im Indigenous or because I was dressed in track pants and a t-shirt. Our server, Rob, was attentive and friendly to my partner who is white and was dressed in business attire. He described everything that was on her plate but roughly put my plate on the table and said, Heres your Bison. He didnt bother to tell me what any of the ingredients were like he did with my partner. He also only asked my partner how her food was, but didnt ask me. She didnt like her duck, so said it just okay. Rob seemed upset by my partners response and instead of trying to rectify the situation he went complaining to another server. The other server came over and offered to replace my partners food but we switched dishes instead just so we could get out of there as soon as possible. I was deeply troubled by the treatment. The difference in treatment was not only obvious to myself, but was to my partner as well. Either it was a judgement on my casual attire or on my race. Either way it was unacceptable and we will never return to this over rated, over priced, and discriminatory restaurant again.
So far the best steak weve eaten in Edmonton. The duck and bison werent bad but the Wagyu was by far the best out of the three entrees. I had a reservation so we got in no problem but the restaurant was full soon after we sat down so making a reservation in advance is probably highly recommended.
I ve been to Rge Rd a few times since 2018 and it s one of the nice fine dining restaurants in Edmonton. It s definitely a good choice for a fine dining experience or a special occasion given the quality of their food, the service, and the ambience at the restaurant. Overall 9/10. Highlights: - Butcher s Cut - Creme Brulee - Road Trip (Tasting Menu) - Ambience
Spent a small fortune on the tasting menu that didnt have much taste. I found this to be overpriced and pretty bland.
One of the best places Ive been to in Edmonton. You want to see what the chefs at Rge Rd can do? Order the road trip to get a six course spectacular display of open cuisine. Youll be blown away with the flavors. The service is excellent. I can see why this reservations at this restaurant is sought after. Thank you Rge Rd for creating an eclectic dining experience. Update: July 2022 Still one of the best places. Everything is made with perfection. Rob and the staff at Rge. Road have made everything (ingredients) work with local suppliers of Bison, Beef, chicken, vegetables and out them together for every course, including some amazing desserts. Update: Dec 2023 If you get the opportunity to do the road trip, you will not be disappointed. Try the wine pairings as well. You will be taken to different places around the world, taking in the culinary genius of Rge Rd. Imagine eating Bison softer than your best prepared prime rib or the best prepared top sirloin. The staff at Rge Rd are amazing and take care of everything.
Take the road trip .. worth every penny! Food is amazing, service is fantastic. Cannot recommend enough.
The food was amazing. We ordered bison and pork. Bison exceeded my expectations. The pork was also nice. Highly recommended to go for special occasions.
Always a brilliant dining experience at Rge Rd. High quality ingredients, innovative creations and such a beautiful space (warm dining room and a lively bar side area). Its a farm to table concept and everything is so well done. The team at the restaurant were also fabulous in working with us to support my partners dietary restrictions. We also came here on New Years Eve for a gastronomical adventure. The service and options were astounding. We each got one of the set menu and the mystery menu. Brava to the team for putting forth such an innovative and delicious adventure. Five stars!
Extremely amazing food and awesome service This year we went to different places called Yarrow and honestly we regret it we wish we could come here like we came in 2019 this place was much more worth it than yarrow and trust me literally this is one of best Edmonton food i had if your haven t been here trust me you will like it
We did the Road Trip, which was a delicious experience. Quite expensive, but sometimes youve just got to treat yourself and special someone.
Excellent food, very flavorful. Its a little pricey but a wonderful experience.
We just had another great meal here. There was so much care and attention put into every dish and it was - absolutely fabulous.
My husband and I went here to celebrate our tenth anniversary, and we werent disappointed! We both ordered the road trip, and every single dish had complex but well-integrated flavours. My personal favourites were the rockfish crudo and the elk steak (pictured below). I loved how all of the dishes were careful to incorporate local ingredients. The service was also friendly and attentive. RGE RD is a definite gem of a restaurant.
Amazing meal last night. We did the road trip tasting menu and it was amazing. The staff is so kind and professional, amazing atmosphere and the food was out of this world.
I ve been here twice and I absolutely loved everything I ve eaten. I highly recommend the road trip option.
I do not understand why ppl love this place? I saw the great reviews & wanted to check it out. Scotch egg - dry & too salty, bison - too salty, pirogies were good but nothing to rave about & the creme brûlée was descent as well. Some of the food was descent & some was completely off the mark. Staff is wonderful & I appreciate that about them but I wouldn t go with such high hopes like we did when it comes to food. You will have some descent dishes but don t expect to be amazed.
Best
Excellent food and great service
I WANT TO GO HERE
Second time here, and I was impressed by my visit. I had visited a few years prior and dont remember the experience. This time we were seated, promptly. The ambience was relaxed and warm. Food was really good and a little different from what I have tried at other places. The price was a it on the pricey side but the food and service is worth it. The gift card I had as a birthday present cushioned that damage a bit. The neighbourhood is also lively with lots to see and do especially if you are walking. Definitely worth trying.
I have been wanting to try out this city gem for a while, and it sure didnt dissapoint. Friendly staff, good service, amazazazing food. Quaint space. Parking: A bit tight if youre in a full sized truck.
Incredible!
Ive been coming here since 2015 and have never had anything less than a stellar experience. The Road Trip is worth it - please do it!!
Weve eaten here a dozen+ times or so now, as its a favourite when family is in town and for special occasions, and its always been an exceptional meal. The service is great, but the food is second-to-none. Reservations recommended. Bring friends and share, so you can try everything! The Road Trip is excellent too.
I d give more stars if I could! Best food I ve ever eaten by far. Feels like home, tastes like heaven
Awesome Awesome place, delicious food. steak is amazing, cooked very well and great sides too. The Pork is awesome, the sides and sauce were a brilliant combination and choice. One of the best pork dishes we ve had. Scotch egg is delicious, comparable to some of the best we ve had in London. Salad was complex and delicious Service is amazing, great attention to detail. Atmosphere is great, small but clean. Great ingredients, local and fresh. Definitely recommended, looking to try the tasting menu next time.
Great food. Great Service. Great Atmosphere. Would recommend the Road Trip .
Very impressive!! All of the food was wonderful, especially the duck breast. The duck was stunning obviously top quality meat, with really nice spicing and a good crust. Elk carpaccio and the wood-fired bread were standouts. My server, Rob, was great super friendly and had excellent recommendations.
Fantastic dinner out. The food was surprising, in a good way, nice cozy atmosphere and love the local/farm-to-table fare.
First time here. The food and service was fantastic. Steak was cooked perfectly. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great decor and atmosphere. Will definitely return!
The entire experience at Rge Rd was phenomenal, but our server, Shannon, went particularly above and beyond. Not only was the service that night wonderful, but she sent me an email the next day with details about products from their adjacent butcher shop that I had asked about the night before. Shannon, thank you for being amazing!
Farm to table concept showcasing various products from Alberta. Food was well made. We had seasonal salad, bread, and beef tongue on toast. Shared a 24oz dry aged ribeye steak that was quite flavourful. Would visit again!!!
We heard about this place a lot and finally got a chance to try. The experience was wonderful, from the atmosphere, service to the food itself. We ordered scorch egg, butchers cut of the day, bison and dessert, all taste really good. For sure a must try in town! Food
Did the Road Trip. Amazing taste, service, and atmosphere. This wasn t a meal, it was an experience. Food : 5/5
An incredible meal with impeccable service.
Our first visit here for a special occasion with family. Thank you to Rob for looking after us so well. Food terrific too.
Fanciest place I ve been too, the food was immaculate and the experience was unreal. Thank you
Stopped by this spot and sat at the bar. Had a great seasonal salad, boar, and a seabuckthorn tart. Everything had an unexpected element in it that elevated the dish, which were all beautifully plated. Service was super attentive and professional. Would recommend to anyone looking for delicious local flavours.
Me and my wife had heard great things about this place and we were eager to try it. We went here for dinner to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary. The place was packed so we just decided to sit at the bar due to long wait to get a table. I can honestly say that was one of the best meals my wife and I have ever shared. The steak was succulent and tender and the sides were absolutely delightful. That was the best steak Ive ever had in my life. I honestly didnt want my meal to end. The service was great. Being sat at the bar was a blessing because most of the servers/employees were within earshot so we could have any questions about the food or their opinion of other options provided rather quickly. All in all great night and thank you for making our 12th wedding anniversary a memorable one.
Absolute must! Everything was perfect from A to Z: perfectly cooked beef, amazing service, bread was delish, perogies OMG, great wine card... I could go on and on about how fantastic this was But go find out for yourself!
Most of the food was good but the steaks were terrible, which is a bummer since theyre meant to be the main attraction. The staff were very nice and the server was very knowledgeable about their whole menu which seemed simple at first glance but was quite complex since everything had feature options and rotating selections. The atmosphere was not the greatest. Very brightly lit especially for an 8pm dinner, its a very small space and the tables are spaced very close together. There was no ambient music or anything that i could here so it was just a crowded room of people trying to talk over each other. I could barely hear the server or my wife taking but could tell you all the conversations that were going on at all the other tables, and felt like if I talked loud enough for my wife to hear, wed be disturbing other people around us or sharing our private conversation with everyone in the room. As for the food, we had the Elk Tartare and Scotch Egg to start, both of which had lots of flavor. I had the wagyu flat iron steak which is meant to have lots of marbling and be tender. There was no marbling to speak of and the steak was tough. The fact that it was cooked poorly only added to the chewiness. It looked like it was pan fried at a high temperature for a short time cooking the outer 20% of the steak fine but leaving the inner 80% of it blue rare. The flavor of the meat itself was ok, but other than a light sprinkling of flake salt there was no seasoning or herbs added at all. Luckily it came with a red wine reduction to give it some kind of depth. My wife had the sirloin which had the same shortcomings on cooking at seasoning, but was actually more tender and flavorful than the wagyu which was twice the price. The wagyu would have been bad if it was a $20 steak, never mind a $100 steak. I have had wagyu before and this was nowhere near expectations. Their side dishes were good. Warm German potato salad and vegetables. My wife had the creme brulee for dessert which was runny but tasted good. I had a port that was cloudy and had sediment floating in it and tasted like it had gone bad. I saw the staff discussing the bottle while looking at our table before putting the bottle off to the side but never came back to the table or mentioned it to me. I wish Id taken pictures, at least of the steak and port because the problems were visually obvious. Its worth mentioning I never complained about any of it to the server. I dont believe that someone should have fo make a fuss in order to get good quality food, especially at that price point, and especially when the staff can already see theres a problem. I simply vote with my dollars and for the $360 of them it cost for a meal for 2, they definitely wont be voting for Rge Rd again.
Finally, a server that was amazing at her job. It has been years since I had true good service in a restaurant. She was knowledgeable, professional, and attentive. Food was delicious, although I would expect more than 2 tiny potatoes with my $80 steak... but the steaks were exceptional. Great wine list and pairing options. Definitely not a place for everyday dining as it is pricey, but we were there for a special occasion, and it was perfect. P.S. they dont have gingerale Kid-friendliness: We were there with our 2 year old. They were very accommodating. Ours eats what we eat, so cant comment on the kids menu. She loved the bison steak lol
Every dish we had was as great as the service! The quality of the food was next level. Definitely recommend
This place is top notch. I was pretty pleased with the consistency of the food and the unique atmosphere You pay for it though Absolutely worth every dollar spent Food : 5/5
Everything we had was unique and flavorful. Nothing I could ever make at home - and isnt that the point? :) Our server Rob was really knowledgeable and fun and helpful. Atmosphere was comfortable, and even the music and ambience of other people seemed to blend so well that we felt in our own little world even though we were surrounded by people. I appreciated how they called us the day before our reservation to ask about allergies, and if we were celebrating anything special (which we were). When we arrived, there was a signed card from the whole staff waiting for us. Above and beyond in every way! The food isnt cheap but you absolutely get what you pay for. Amazing experience!
Thank you for making our 39th Wedding anniversary supper a great dining experience. My husband enjoyed the Bison & I enjoyed the duck breast. Cheers to your team!
We had a wonderful meal at rge rd last night. We tried bison tartare which was mild and creamy. Mains were pork and strip loin beef. Steak was awesome, pork was a close second. I loved the beet leaf garnish and they added some pickled spicy beans that jazzed up the flavour. Steak was so tender. Tried I m a doctor drink which was wonderful. Sweet and slightly bitter. Ended with the dulce de leche dessert which tasted like shortbread and a digestive called amore. Spicy and perfect for end of meal. Atmosphere seemed more business than romantic and was a little loud. Bathrooms were neat with industrial copper pipes. Thought it was hilarious that the paper towel smelled like a cow farm but in a nostalgic way not in a bad way. Be prepared to pay. Price point is a lot higher than we are used to. Mains were $50 on average. Steak was $70. Parking is limited
Absolutely blown away by the quality of ambiance, service and food. Might be the best steak Ive ever had. Scallops were cooked perfectly and the questionable bits of the day was amazing (beef tongue pastromi). Only thing I didnt love was the amount of dill in the summer salad but thats a personal preference. Dessert and cocktails (Negroni) were fantastic. Caitlyns wine list doesnt disappoint so you can literally pick any wine and it is going to be great quality.
Had the road trip and added a Creme brulee everything was amazing.
Such a unique place with amazing flavors and constantly changing menu. They only use local ingredients and they create the most amazing experience. This is a must stop for anyone in the area!
Absolutely impeccable, deliciously mouthwatering food here at Rge Rd. with every bite of every dish it is immediately apparent that each ingredient is local and each plate made with love and a proper chef. My friend treated me for my birthday to Rge Rd, and the staff gave me a birthday card which they all signed. This really elevated my experience there, which I thought not possible after having dinner. Thank you Rge Rd!
My SO and I made reservations yesterday evening, our first time trying RGE RD. It had an intimate atmosphere, dimly lit and cozy warm barn-house aesthetic. The restaurant was nearly a full house, yet it didnt seem overwhelming with the other guests talking in the background. We felt like we were in our own little world, where not a single person had their devices out - everyone was conversing and enjoying themselves. I ordered a ceasar drink, which came with their house made pickles, and we started with the Wood oven baked bread (better than olive gardens) - with a fresh ceyenne pepper and parsley whipped butter. Main courses were the Butchers cut Beef (I chose a sirloin steak) that was made Rare, so buttery and marinated in red wine jus, - instead of carrots it came with fresh bean sprouts and small potatoes. My SO ordered the Alberta Pork, with a delicious house made brown mustard. Our server (Samantha I think) was friendly and informative. The service was impeccable and the whole experience was outstanding. We will definitely be back to try some other dishes! A couple things to know - we were in and out in exactly 1 hour. Parking is tight, but there is residential street parking. No non-alcoholic beverages besides water. More catered towards an 18+ majority. Expensive, but you get what you pay for!
What a great little restaurant!! The duck was beyond amazing and my husbunds steak was soooo good it melted in your mouth, the service was equally as good. We will defiantly be returning.
There were three of us. Two of us were very happy with our meals. One of us sent their steak back. It really wasnt that good. The kitchen was really accommodating for the dietary restrictions of one of the diners. And the steak that was sent back was taken off our bill. If it wasnt for that, I would have given 5 stars across the board. Dietary restrictions: The kitchen went out of its way to accommodate one of the diners, they just didnt like the steak.
Had the 7oz sirloin with veggies and potatoes. Sirloin was tender, juicy and had a nice crust. The sauce used helps to salt the dish. Two different types of potatoes. Combination of bacon and brussel sprouts helps to maintain a fatty and balanced flavour through the dish. Restaraunt is super busy and has a very ambient and cozy feeling. Service was awesome.
Great service and atmosphere! Theres a cozy atmosphere without feeling too stuffy. Our server was very friendly and helpful, explaining the menu to us, and how all ingredients are sourced locally. For apps, we tried the bison tartare, scallops, and questionable bits, which was a chicken heart toast. All of the dishes were interesting and tasty, although a bit satly. I highly recommend the questionable bits, which are made from leftover meat parts. It changes from time to time, but the chicken heart toast was very good. For mains, we tried the striploin, gnocchi, and cod. The striploin and gnocchi were both delicious. The gnocchi was pillowy and rich. The cod, however, was not great. It was quite bland and didnt have a good texture.
Excellent food, nice atmosphere and phenomenal service. Tried The Road Trip tasting menu and enjoyed every dish. Looking forward to returning!
Expensive but good. Probably one of the best steaks in the city although definitely pricey.
Went here last night with my partner for his birthday dinner, and I cant recommend it enough! Fantastic service from the moment we entered the door to when we left, and the food was SO GOOD. Easily one of the best dining experiences Ive had in Edmonton, if not THE best. I would recommend the Roadtrip (blind tasting menu) - there was a great variety of vegetables, meat/fish options, and perfect portion sizes. In our instance, we had everything from an amazing salad to start to the most moist pork tenderloin that Ive had in my life for a main course and a tasty, crispy riff on cheddar and apple pie with creamy creme fraiche on the side for dessert. Everything was delicious, and well definitely be back in the future!
Restaurant was fully booked so called at 4pm and they said there was first come, first served seating at the bar as an option. So we drive 20 mins to show up right when they open. The restaurant is almost completely empty inside and the host rudely keeps saying I m fully booked tonight, I m fully booked tonight and got turned away. Super frustrating. Your staff shouldn t tell people to come and then say no at the door. Will not be coming back.
Amazing food, exemplary service. The steaks here are amazing, along with the cocktails and charcuterie board appetizer we had. I d been eyeing this place up for awhile, we finally made it out here and were not disappointed. We had a great experience for our date night, will be back for sure!
Food was really nice. But very pricey and a bit too bougie for me
Absolutely delectable. Went with a party of four. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The scotch egg was a thing of beauty. The spicy maple butter melted perfectly into the homemade bread. I had the duck breast for a main. I usually have the beef. At no point was I jealous of the steak eater next to me. The milk chips on the tress leches cake were superb. Thanks for a beautiful meal and night out.
We had such a wonderful time here! Rob was our server and he did a great job. The food was wonderful, and we would highly recommend!
Great perogies! Meal was good but the meat was on the moo side even after sending it back once. Very nice atmosphere!
Dear Blair, We just saw you on TV today!!! Darrell and I are so proud of your stunning accomplishment!!! We will come to your wonderful restaurant in Edmonton very soon. It has been a long time since you were in my class for Grade One. Warm Regards: Caroline Jones
Fine dining prices without the fine dining experience.
Love love the food
Amazing food service was excellent
I have never written a restaurant review but at the same time I always read reviews when deciding on a new place and felt strongly that I needed to share this experience. This was my 2nd time going to Range Road and the food and service were excellent and based on that first outing I decided on Range Road for a very special family occasion. We were a party of 8 people and had cocktails, appetizers, several bottles of wine with our entrees and desserts. The service was non-existent! We ordered cocktails and 1 hour and 10 minutes later, no one had returned to take our food order!! And someone from our table had to get up and find our server. And we had to repeat that when it was time to order our desserts. I think the food was good but it s impossible to say that with any confidence because all the food on every plate was cold - not lukewarm, not even room temperature but COLD as if it had been dished up straight from the refrigerator!!! Since I had organized our night out and was hosting and paying the entire bill, I walked around to every guest and asked them about their food and had several samples along the way. It was the same response across the board. The food tasted OK, but everything was cold. The best part of the meal was the desserts. I wish we would have gone anywhere else and that would be my recommendation. Pick another restaurant.
I am extremely disappointed in my recent dining experience at Range Road. The service was horrendous. It took over a hour for our orders to be taken. When the main courses arrived, they were cold and unappetizing. We were a large group and we were there for a very special occasion. We spent a lot of time and money on this dinner. This was not the experience we were hoping for. Unfortunately, between the service and the food, it put a damper on the evening and a bitter taste in our mouths about Range Road as a whole.
I cannot put into words properly on how fantastic this place is ! The food was incredible and the service was top tier. Thank you all for a fabulous experience tonight . I will absolutely be returning. The staff were so knowledgeable and made our dining experience a very memorable one. Thank you so very much.
Great place great staff great food!
Eat here!!!! It is not the cheapest place but it is so worth a night out. You are getting locally sourced, expertly prepared, feast. You will finish your meal wanting more but unable to eat another bite. They were also amazing with my allergy requirements!
My first visit to Rge Rd won t be the last. From the warm greeting & beautiful atmosphere to the exquisite food & drinks & exceptional guest service from every single server, I was beyond impressed. The bison steak was melt-in-your-mouth tender, probably best I ve ever had. If you re into elevated rustic atmosphere with delicious, locally sourced food & great service, this is the place for you.
First time in restaurant a try The Road Trip . Every dish s are so nice and many surprises.
Thank you to our server Shannon. The food and atmosphere is one of a kind in this modern rustic setting. We love the local support to our Alberta farms in this farm to plate restaurant. But, our server Shannon had the knowledge to make short story telling part of our first visit very memorable. We will 100% be back as we have to try the road trip. Cheers to the folks at the Rge Rd
