Oldest Chinese Restaurant in Edmonton since 1947. We are fully open for dine in, pick up and delivery. Check website for details
Our favourite restaurant for Chinese food. We always go for the buffet as the food is always hot, fresh and flavourful. They constantly refresh the dishes with small portions so it’s always fresh and hasn’t been sitting there too long. Amy and her husband (sorry I keep forgetting his his name) are amazing hosts and always make us feel very welcome.
Haven't been to Lingnan for man years. It did not disappoint! Was delighted to see they offer a buffet. Food was fresh, hot and delicious! So nice to see them watching the buffet closely, so nothing ran out and they were constantly cleaning and tidying as well. The freshly prepared lil donut with glaze at the end is such a thoughtful thank you to their guests! We will definitely be returning sooner, rather than later😋
First buffet I've ever tried and probably my best restaurant experience of my life so far. Extremely fancy with decently affordable prices. $30 for the buffet and despite a small selection, all the items were very tasty. Servers were extremely attentive, never ran out of water or tea. Wonton soup was complementary with the buffet, and very good. Also got a complementary sugar donut at the end which I expected to be a cheap carnival donut but it was very light and tasted homemade. Favorite was the broccoli and the chefs special green beans, plus the wonton broth.
Was craving for chinese buffet for a long time! Lingnan satisfied all the craving. Loved the spread and ambience. Wor wonton soup needs special mention along with mandarin shrimp- both were so soulful and flavorful. The fried items were too oily like the chicken balls, spring rolls and fried wanton but rest of the dishes were good. My all time favorite dry spicy chicken was in the buffet , i ate my heart full. The dessert was not that great. We ordered Pina Colada ( non alcoholic) separately ( not included in buffet) and it was the best drink ive had in a long while. Ambience 10/10 Service 8/10 Food 10/10
My uncle spoke very highly of the Lingnan. I wasn't disappointed. It is kind of a landmark restaurant in Edmonton. The buffet was delicious. The servers were great. Washroom was clean.
Delicious & authentic Chinese food. We did the buffet and a couple dishes on the side. We found the buffet to be reasonably priced, had many good options to pick from and appreciated the smaller portions they put out to ensure the food was always extremely fresh. The service was excellent and staff were very welcoming. I can't say enough nice things about this place. We will 100% eat here again!
Heard about this place through social media, never knew its been around for so long in Edmonton. The interior decor is very authentic. The buffet is worth the price, with lots of good items. My favourite was the peppercorn beef. The cinnamon sugar on the mini donuts is a nice addition that other ayce's I've tried didn't have.
The best Chinese food I've had in a long time. My husband and I went for the buffet so we could try a little bit of everything. We were not disappointed! Everything was delicious! The service was outstanding. The staff are incredibly welcoming. I can't say enough nice things about this place. I will definitely be back soon as this is now my new favorite restaurant in Edmonton.
This was, by far, the worst meal I have ever tried. Being my first time ordering, I ordered 7 different items to try. We tried one bite of each item and by the 4th item, I was literally scared and cringed just to try the first bite. Rightfully so too because it was an abomination to the term edible food. The broccoli was the only thing that wasnt disgusting, but it also wasnt very good. For $170 we have a full garbage can and empty stomachs. How is this place in business?!!
Food was an actual affront to god. Ordered some take out, and everything, from the rice to the chicken balls, ended up in the garbage. The only things we could consider edible would be the spring rolls, and even that wasnt good. You never expect much from these chinese buffets, so the bar was low, but the Lingnan somehow ran face first into it. All we have for $100+ is a full garbage can and spoiled appetites.
Goor restaurant i am uber eat driver i like this restaurant
Edmontons oldest and most established Chinese restaurant. Their food is always top quality, prices are comparable to competitors, delivery/takeout is prompt, the menu is diverse plus there is a delicious buffet on weekends. The staff is very well trained and professional, the best of any Chinese restaurant in town. Some regular customers have been dining there for over four decades. There is free parking available but read signs carefully (especially on event nights at Rogers).
If you love chinese food this is highly recommended all items I tried very tasty for a buffet very small variety though but quality always trumps quantity. Will definately be coming back. Solid food service and atmosphere In my opinion only problem was lack of free parking.
Amazing food! We go every year and we are never disappointed!
A nice variety of buffet food options
The choices were gluten free and there was no reaction to the gluten-free menu. The food is really good
Always wanted to try this place, its quite well known. Tried their sweet n sour pork the one that they said was Prince Harrys fave, and also had the beef chow fan and garlic gai lan. The beef dish was decent enough, but the pork was not good, was tough like deep fried battered pork jerky and some pieces tasted like they were made out of old pork leftovers, you know when pork chops are at the end of their cooked leftover life. The fella was super friendly but oddly talked about another chinese restaurant that Ive gone to for years, how he knows their pork isnt good, yet Id never noticed theirs tasting like old pork. The irony was interesting. The gai lan was a bit tough, old, chewy and straw like, but Ive noticed that at other places too. Could be a seasonal thing. Sorry Lingnan, I wont be back.
The service is extraordinary. The food is exquisite I love the decor. The background music The bathrooms are so clean. They deserve every award they have received We honestly cant wait to come back!! Food : 5/5 |
Night out with family. The food was delicious, and the service was quick. We had beef and broccoli, and the beef just melted it was so tender. I would recommend this when looking for a great Chinese restaurant.
My wife and I decided to have the buffet in the restaurant instead of our take out from the menu. The buffet was awesome. Good size and great quality! Service was fantastic, we plan on organizing a group of friends to meet for the buffet. Did I mention cocktails are $7.50?
We celebrated our son s birthday here and can t say enough good things about the food and the staff. The owners went above and beyond to make sure everyone was taken care of. Highly recommend Lingnan and will be back again!
Better Chinese food than Vancouvers top rated Chinese food. My reason Im not giving yall five stars, is because I got charged an extra 25 cents out of nothing, from the paper with the prices to what I paid before tax is an extra 25 cents so hopefully its not a normal thing.
Amy and the family continue the tradition of tasty food, fun atmosphere and personal service!
Nothing could have been better. CS is especially superior in this outstanding restaurant. The staff are like a well-oiled machine with a focus on customer service, quality of food, and cleanliness! Vegetarian options: My daughter is a vegetarian and was able to order plenty of dishes that catered to her dietary needs. Wheelchair accessibility: They gave my 96 year old mother special attention and ease of seating with her walker.
Excellent place.....Excellent food....and Excellent service. Have already recommended it to all my friends and family
Very mediocre food. If you want authentic Chinese food dont get it from here.
Food was we love and enjoyed it so much and the staff were very nice and friendly shout out to everyone and thank you kevin who served us with smile for the second time last night thank you so much we re definitely going back again soon
Our favorite place for Chinese food. Food and service is amazing.
First time there ever , a great experience, we will be going back again
5 star if they had better parking Parking: Almost impossible to find parking during Oiler games. Food : 5/5 |
The LAST thing that l ever expected to do was to give The Lingnan a negative review. l have been a regular customer of theirs. More than that, Im a frequent customer. I cant fault their food. Its absolutely delicious. That being said, Im extremely disappointed in their sense of entitlement. After a long day at work, and feeling under the weather, l came in hoping to enjoy a bowl of soup, because thats all that l wanted. Instead of a bowl of soup, Im given a humiliating lecture about how l didnt meet their minimum charge. l was appalled, and insulted by this. l have been in countless times over the last 20 years. Was any of this taken into consideration? Apparently not! There are more than 2800 restaurants in Edmonton, and l chose theirs. Instead of gratitude, Im given attitude. Im so sorry that l didnt meet your blessed price gouging policy. You wont be getting another cent out of me. Ive since been introduced to another restaurant that doesnt minimum gouge its customers, and their soup was fantastic! So, thanks to your policy, youve lost a loyal customer. If you really cared about my business, youd reach out to me. Dont bother. Im too angry to respond. Ive moved on. Congratulations!!
What an amazing place. We were a party of 6 and they opened up a private room for us so we didn t have to wait! The female owner is absolutely amazing. Very friendly. Very social. Just an amazing all around experience. And the food!!!!! The spicy chicken is to die for. Definitely come here
This place was so amazing! Service and food was absolutely the best! The owner treated us soo good. Can t wait to come back.
One of the worst customer service ever. Staffs are caring but the guy who manages it is the worst.
Best Chinese food I ve ever had! Fast and hot and absolutely delicious. Zero complaints
Amazing place! Customer service was fantastic! Food was great! Overall great experience, definitely going back!
We recently dined at The Lingnan and were thoroughly impressed by the experience. The customer service was exceptional staff were attentive and regularly checked in to ensure everything was to our liking. The food was incredibly fresh, of excellent quality, and served in generous portions. The pricing was also surprisingly affordable, making this restaurant a standout option for both quality and value. The Lingnan has become our one of our favourite restaurants and we will definitely be returning Vegetarian options: There was a full page dedicated to vegetarian options
Good food, friendly helpful staff. Same decor forever, would be nice to see some updating/freshness
Amazing food! Very very nice waiter s! Super clean inside, and the bathrooms were spotless. We had the buffet, it was very good!!!
Thanks to my friend for suggesting Lingnan, it is the best Chinese food we ve had in years. We had a great time and they celebrated my daughters birthday and let us cut our own cake. Stunning ambience and Great hospitality, Amy stopped by personally to greet us, what a nice staff.
IMAGINE THIS. GLASS OF THE SAAAAAAAAAAASK. You hear about this place from the one and only glass of the sask campaign. This is straight up the best western-style chinese food I have ever had. No wonder this is such a classic, grab a stapler and staple this restaurant to the Edmonton GOAT board type ordeal type beat type feel. I dont know what a lingnan is but get me some more of that and load it up.
Excellent dishes. Great atmosphere and service
I enjoyed the buffet here this past weekend. I am gluten free and the server went above and beyond to ensure I enjoyed my visit. The food and service was amazing. I will be back for sure! Dietary restrictions: Gluten sensitivity. Potential for some cross contamination (fryer) but very aware and up front about what can and cant be consumed.
If I could give 10 stars I would. The buffet has the best items on the menu and they made special dishes for my son that were gluten & sesame free. Thank you Amy for accommodating my son s allergies and making us feel welcome. The kids enjoyed everything from the food to the atmosphere. And the mini donuts were a big hit for desert. We will definitely be coming back! Dietary restrictions: Amy was very helpful with making my son his food. He has multiple allergies and she had the kitchen take special care with his meal. Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly atmosphere.
Went for the buffet and worth every penny.
Awful!!! Greasy floor, dark light... my friends Got tickets for Parking outside its Northside! Good news! was the answer from the restaurant! OMG!? Never come back again!
Amy and the staff at Lingnan are amazing. Everyone is positive and work you make your dining experience the best it can be. Food is excellent.
Warning for all celiacs !! They share deep fry oil with gluten containing items so your options are more slim than you d think. You can only order their stir fried items. On the plus side my celiac boyfriend didn t get sick from eating here but was gravely disappointed. We were confused after reading so many positive reviews from other celiacs so unsure if this is a new development or they were unaware of the cross contamination. So FYI for gluten allergy people Dietary restrictions: No separate oil for deep frying gluten containing items, concern of cross contamination
Came in for the buffet. Our server Kevin did a fabulous job, super quick with everything. And then one of the higher ups I think her name was Amy? Sweetest, funniest lady. Had a great time.
The Lingnan Restaurant is a family owned business. They are a very generous family and provide customers with a delicious authentic dining experience.
Awesome service and interior
We went there and had the buffet. Very good and tasty. Staff were very nice.
Amazing hot and sour soup
Waited over an hour for our food after being served the smallest bowl of Wonton soup, but that was a blessing because it was the blandest soup Ive ever had. Half an hour after the soup the Egg rolls showed up. Cold, hard as hockey pucks stuffed with cold bean sprouts. So after another half hour with no attention we decided to leave, and got an earful from the apparent cook who still wanted to charge us for the junk she passed off as food after wasting our time. Staged an argument blaming us in the middle of the restraunt with everyone looking on. Ive been to the Lingnan before, tipped heavy and enjoyed the food but something has changed. Will never go back again, we went to Buddys after, there are too many other choices rather than being abused verbally and gastromically.
Had their buffet, great service and food. Atmosphere is perfect for fine dine.
Best authentic Chinese buffet in town! Load up on the hot and dry!!!! Food : 5/5
The only reason I scored this 5 is because I couldn t give it more. This is the best Chinese food I ve found in Edmonton and the service is second to none. Long live the Quon Dynasty!!
Our family has enjoyed every visit to Lingnan. It exceeds our expectations every time whether we are ordering take out or dining in. The buffet is always hot and fresh and so tasty. It is not only a dinner out, it is an experience. Our kids tell everyone best green onion cakes in town. We always feel so welcome, valued, and appreciated when we visit. We love the decor. The energy always feels great and the staff are so kind and professional!
Awesome gluten free options!
Never gets old! The food, the service, and the atmosphere Food
Amazing food, fantastic customer service, just a great experience overall!
The food is really good Canadian Chinese food always fresh and good . They are the kindest people and our server went beyond expectations for us . I m gluten free and my daughter is vegetarian. We were blown away by how accommodating the restaurant is . Just left feeling like we were treated so well ! The lychee cocktail was so delicious, the food was tasty and fresh and I ve told all my clients they need to see how cool the decor is in that place . Thanks so very much for our great experience Vegetarian options: Spicy tofu so delicious Dietary restrictions: Gluten free is awesome ! Are you serious ginger beef !!!!!!!
This is the best restaurant I have ever been i love the service and Love the food.
I was there for my anniversary and the food, services and hospitality was amazing. My kids could not stop talking about how amazing the food was and the friendliness of everyone that was present (workers and customers). I would recommend anyone that love fine Chinese cuisine and love the interaction with the owner and the wonderful staff that works there.
This is the best Chinese restaurant in Edmonton. Never disappoints. Literally everything is good.
The place was Amazing, I went with my Family and it was such an Amazing experience and I would definitely come back for their food and to just be there it was really and truly wonderful
Amy your chicken made my wood large
Probably the best Chinese food in Edmonton
This place has gone down horribly. We got food here the other day and it was the absolutely lowest effort. Beef broccoli had no flavour and almost no beef. The fry rice was just rice with a few scrambled eggs and soy sauce. We order some pork and noodle and again is just noodles and soy sauce and. A few pieces of pork. Will not get ever again, there are a million better places in Edmonton.
The food was spectacular. Great for those who have food sensitive issues. Will be coming back
Wonderful food and buffet and the service is second to none Recommend highly
Amy is the sweetest person. The buffet is a shadow to ordering off the menu. Expensive, but always an amazing treat
I absolutely love the Lingnan. Amy and everyone who works there treats you like family. They make their food in small batches so you are always eating fresh food. It is definitely an Edmonton must try place. Kid-friendliness: They love seeing children in the restaurant and trying their food. They make sure to talk to the children like little people and not ignore them.
Lingnan has a buffet now. Which was quite surprising to me. This was the number one spot to have chinese food in all of Edmonton for a long time. The way I remember, they used to heat up steel plates and place them on the table. People would order 2 of their favorite dishes, and then everyone would share. It may still be done this way. Tried the buffet this time. It is a lot larger inside than I remember, too. Crowded, most people choose the buffet. Check out their website.
I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic and delightful Chinese dining experience. We had a banquet menu, and everything was very delicious The service was impeccable. The staff were attentive and friendly, always ready to assist with a smile. They made sure that our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. I will be returning soon!
Had a wonderful birthday supper at the Lingnan this afternoon. We both enjoyed the featured Buffet and it sure did not disappoint. Everything was fresh, hot and DELICIOUS! Thrilled to meet Matriarch Amy-such a beautiful and gracious lady. The servers are all so attentive and polite, and dressed in very smart attire! The quaint dining room is decked out in Chinese decor and everything is super clean and tidy. The buffet had an excellent selection and for the quality of the food we were very pleased with the price. There was not one dish on the Buffet we did not like! The mini donuts for dessert were just right to wrap up a perfect and satisfying meal. Thankyou for the wonderful afternoon, AMY and all the LINGNAN staff. Looking forward to going back! Posted is the list of items on the Buffet this afternoon. All hot and DELICIOUS!
Very friendly courteous staff. delicious food.
This is a fantastic restaurant. Easily the best buffet that I have visited across Canada. The atmosphere is authentic, the staff are beyond friendly and the food is great. The buffet selection is much smaller but higher quality than other buffets. Highly recommend.
The Lingnan has never disappointed me in over 40 years! Whether it be order out or eat in, the food has always been fresh, inventive and yummy. The buffet is amazing. The staff, most who have been there for ages, are attentive and do a perfect job. Kinman, Amy and the kids always make everyone feel most welcome. Absolutely the best Chinese food in Edmonton, hands down.
Amys and the family are the best! Bringing my dad here brought back 30 years of memories for him. Great food and ambiance. Definitely one of the best in Edmonton!
Update 2 years later : still the absolute best place ever to eat Chinese food. Thank you so much to the staff ! They work together wonderfully and are very efficient. myself being celiac, its extremely difficult for me to confidently eat out. Here I have no worries and they treat me so well. Tonight they went over and beyond to make sure i had everything i needed. The best Chinese food Ive ever had ! Seriously never had better ginger beef, pork fried rice , beef and broccoli and sweet and sour pork in my life. After a meal here you feel full and energized not like traditional Chinese food Ive had where it leaves me sick, tired and hungry again in a hour , no not this place You can taste the fresh quality ingredients and the service was amazing! They were able to accommodate my allergy to gluten too and thats hard to find. The delivery driver was so kind and said its a family ran business 3 generations in . The food arrived so hot and it was -35 outside .I highly recommend supporting this business! Your money will be well spent here.
Great food and wonderful staff!
Amazing place
Went there for dinner with my family for the buffet walked in there was only eight items and every single one of their dishes had maybe a half a portion in it at 6:30 but it did have a very cool atmosphere we did not eat there we turned around and left as soon as we looked at the buffet a friend told us this was a great place I was very disappointed
I would always go for Chicken for Lunch and I tried the restaurant for the first time recently. Buffett was so good! Try this place out
I am from Lethbridge here on a work trip, & so happened to stumble upon this gem. Such amazing service, & so friendly. The place is beautiful. Thank you for the meal & great service to every one who works there. The food was also delicious.
My family has been going here for years, great food, atmosphere and fantastic family run restaurant. Overall, very authentic Chinese food and definitely the best in Edmonton!
Best gluten free Chinese food!
Been going for years and it is always delicious. We prefer off the menu than the buffet. One of our favorites is the Sam See Foo Young.
Very attended to, lovely staff. Food is great, I stopped by for the dinner buffet it seems. Now I leave full and content. The coffee was very good
A lot of gluten-free items that are delicious.
Thank you so much for my 1st experience at your Beautiful Restaurant The food was so delicious the service was amazing even when we overstayed your closing time My Sweetheart said he attended your restaurant a few decades ago when he was a child I know why your are still in business Thank you
Place has been here forever and the food is fantastic. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is that the egg rolls have shrunk in size.
Just enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Lingnan with the Celiac Association Edmonton Chapter Fund Raiser! The food was fabulous, Amy, Miles and the service staff took exceptional care of us. My celiac friend said this was the first time he had Chinese Food since he was diagnosed a special thanks to the Lingnan for giving him this opportunity.
Wow this is the best Chinese food l have ever had , am gluten free and they made me the best food l had in a long time you will enjoy every single bite and the service was phenomenal so if you want some great gluten free food this is the place to go
Parking: Worst ever,no reserve parking for the customer,I myself got parking ticket of 100$ and when i called the restaurant management they were of no help:((,I would definitely not recommend anyone to visit this restaurant!!! Food
Food was excellent. The dishes were hot and there is a great selection. Husband was happy that the had Buda Beer again.
Ordered gluten free dishes and it was amazing! The best spring rolls I have ever had! This is my go-to from now on! Dietary restrictions: Great for gluten free. Tastes great but didn t leave me glutened. They clearly label gluten free items when ordering for delivery.
Weve been longtime customers, either in the restaurant or having it delivered. Let me say it never disappoints, the food is always hot and plentiful! Our family looks forward to birthdays as we always choose Lingnan for our special dinner. Youve gotta give it a try, if you havent, as they wont disappoint and youll find your new favourite!
The Lingnan is a great restaurant to visit and you will not be disappointed when you are leaving as the food is awesome! This was only my second time visiting this restaurant (once just before Christmas 2023 and secondly for Mothers Day) and both times the food was so great and the service was fantastic. The food is always presented as a buffet however they will cook gluten free if asked and will plate it for you and bring to your table. There are 2 dining rooms, each with their own buffets of the same food. All dishes were steaming hot and the variety was plenty to choose from. My family (there was 6 of us) all had multiple plates of food and all left feeling stuffed but very pleased with the offerings and taste of the food. The servers are very attentive and friendly. The only issue I had was while being seated we were informed by the young lady that we had to be out from the table before the next seating at 530pm. While I did not think it would be a problem, I did feel it was a little uncalled for a special day for Moms. My wife had never been here before and I have raved so much about this place that it sort of annoyed us. We were completed eating and out the door before 530pm however I did feel like we were rushed so that was the only part that bothered me. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Canadian Chinese food. Sorry I forgot to take pictures. Next time! (:>}
Sooooo very delicious! Great food, great staff. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Best Chinese food I have ever had by far!
Fantastic local gem! My dad, Ken, and I enjoyed going to Chicken for Lunch (mmm dry spicy chicken) when we worked downtown and when we wanted to go out for dinner before the Oilers game, we knew just where to go! Awesome food, decor, staff, and overall restaurant. We had the buffet and I ate myself into a (delicious) food coma! Already looking forward to next time! I also highly recommend checking out the Quon Dynasty on YouTube, great show about the family that runs this restaurant!
Never order from this place! Order was an hour late. Called the restaurant and told cant help you and then hung up on me. Not acceptable!
I mean, what can I say. We went for the buffet, my extended family of 14. The decor is pretty over the top & in your face but at the same time... eclectic and well done. All the kids (7) had a blast and the owner came to our table repeatedly to say hello, take any feedback & to bring this and that for the kids to eat/drink/enjoy. The food was good. Just what youd expect it to be for a buffet catered towards the kind of people who dont want to venture deeper into Chinatown
Fantastic food choices on the buffet table, constantly freshened up and restocked. The table service was extra attentive too!! We were there o game day, every second person was McDavid
Hands down best western chinese food in Alberta ! Parking: Parking behind the Ling Nan is usually your best bet. Food : 5/5 |
Delivery order. Service was friendly and efficient. Food Underwhelming. Temperature of food was warm at best. Special Fried rice really bland. Ginger Beef was pretty good, but weve had better. Green Onion Cakes were great! Shanghai noodles were not tasty at all. Beef in the Beef and Broccoli didnt taste fresh. Sweet and Sour Pork - tasty but heavy on the sauce, light on meat (large chucks, tough to chew). After all the high praise reviews, pretty disappointed with the dishes. Wont be a repeat customer.
I stopped by The Lingnan at the recommendation of a friend who was born and raised in Edmonton. The best Hong Kong-style Chinese restaurant in Edmonton, located near Rogers Place (within 5 minutes walk)! All menus are delicious, and you can enjoy a weekday buffet for 29 CAD per adult. All the staff, including the owner Amy, are really friendly. If you live in or are traveling to Edmonton, dont hesitate to visit!
My first time being there and I really enjoyed their food from the buffet.
Above average water
April 17, 2024 - I dont know what happened to this company. The first 2 times we had Lingnans it was soooo delicious. The third time, the chicken balls were so inedible, we had to throw them out due to a strong chemical taste. Called the restaurant and they gave us a $25 credit against our next order. Tonight we ordered for the 4th and last time to use that credit. The delivery was 90 minutes wait, which we agreed to. But the chicken items (chicken balls, honey garlic wings) and egg rolls were WAY overcooked and dried out. We could barely chew our food. Rice and chow mein was the only thing decent to eat. The bones on the wings were burnt black. We will NOT be eating here again unfortunately.
Dietary restrictions: Have a shellfish allergy and they do the best job making sure Im safe! Food
We really enjoy their food. Last time we went and had the buffet and it was delicious and fresh tasting. We so enjoy the service they check on you at all times and make sure your water is full and any other beverages you ordered. The decor is amazing and very well maintained . You won t be disappointed but you do need your make reservations for they are very busy .
Fricking fantastic. Everything you hope it will be. Immaculately kept. A special spot. We are lucky to have it in Edmonton. Chicken balls, spicy dry chicken and ginger beef taste like the good old days.
For years, this place has been sensational. It continues to be sensational. The food is top notch and the service is wonderful.
Great atmosphere and interior design considering the age of this restaurant! Our server was extremely accommodating, friendly and professional during our visit for my mothers 65th Birthday. I would highly recommend! The piña coladas were delicious.
Great food, amazing service by the host.
Recommend Lingnan to everyone! Amy is absolutely amazing and very personable and our server (wish I remembered his name) was sp awesome!
War wonton soup was absolutely delicious! Thank you!
Nice traditional chinese restaurant with great service
great and fantastic place! Asian/Chinese food. have a hot / more spicy traditional fried rice, would be nice. we go there 4 times a year
Quite noisy.
We ordered several dishes though Skip. Lingnan fried rice, ginger beef, lemon chicken, mixed stir Fry vegetables and Vietnamese spring rolls. The fried rice had a little bit of everything in it, the portion was large and all round quite good. The ginger beef was slightly over cooked but had good flavor with a hind of spice. The portion size was a little on the smaller size for the price. The lemon chicken was quite poor. The chicken was so thin that by the time it was cooked it resembled the texture of jerky. The batter could literally have the greese wrung out of it. I would not recommend this dish. The stir fry vegetables were meh. Not fully cooked and the sauce was a different flavour to it. The spring rolls were pretty good. By the time they got to us they had lost their crunch, but still were ok. Overall. I wouldnt order delivery again, given there so many different places to chose from in Edmonton, I would either try a different one or try it again as a sit down meal.
This place has the best buffet Ive ever been too. The food was fresh, great service, and good atmosphere. Food
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Lingnan, a Chinese restaurant in Edmonton, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. My visit coincided with their weekend buffet, and I was thoroughly impressed by the vast selection of dishes available. From traditional favorites to modern twists, there was something for everyone. The service at Lingnan was top-notch. The staff were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was enjoyable. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. But what truly stole the show was the taste of the food. Each dish was expertly prepared with fresh ingredients and bursting with flavor. From the first bite to the last, I savored every moment. After my visit, I can confidently say that Lingnan is likely the best Chinese restaurant in Edmonton. If youre craving delicious Chinese cuisine served with exceptional service, look no further than Lingnan.
Excellent tasty food in large portions at reasonable price. Thumbs up to the oldest Chinese restaurant in Edmonton. Revisited after about a year. The restaurant was packed but service was quick. The owner has always come around to the tables to greet the customers and offered free pop to the children. Prices havent increased by much however the serving size has decreased. Service was excellent as usual. Parking: Hard to find street parking especially on oiler game days because of the proximity to Rogers Place.
Great fun, old school Chinese food.
The Lingnan has by far, the best Chinese food in Edmonton! It doesnt matter if we dine-in or have it delivered, the food is delicious and ALWAYS fresh. Favourite Dish: Dry Spicy Chicken
I have not been back to Lingnan in over 40 years , I will have to say friendly staff make you feel welcome. Now, as it did years ago
We came here tonight to celebrate my birthday! I loved the atmosphere, the staff are very nice and friendly and attentive. We had the buffet which was fresh, tasty and hot. Fresh made food kept coming out consistently. We definitely will be coming back.
Ghetto location , but awesome once your inside
I love this restaurant for its history and the decor. The food is tasty. However, Im not too impressed with the buffet. But, overall, its a good restaurant. I used to watch the show The Family Restaurant on the Food Network that featured them. I often think this show was ahead of its time with reality shows. And I enjoyed watching both the Psalios and the Quon families on there.
My partner who is Chinese mentioned this place for the first time tonight. I have to say I was completely disappointed that we have never been here. After sitting down and eating our first portion of the amazing buffet, I vocalized this to my partner. The food was excellent, the service was absolutely impressive and the atmosphere took me to a traditional Chinese restaurant far away from Edmonton to the other side of the globe in Hong Kong. Maybe it was extra special because it was Lunar New Year. The place was packed, the empty picture was taken immediately after the two tables left and just before they started to fill again. We sat close to the takeout desk and I didn t see space on that desk once, it was constantly full of bags and boxes with no break. The kitchen did a phenomenal job because no food was waited for. I also have to make note that the cleanliness of this restaurant is 5 star. They need to start adding that as an area of stars because WOW, so well maintained. It is hard to believe it s age. Even the bathroom vents were spotless. I ve never seen that before. If you haven t eaten here and you enjoy Chinese food it s an absolute MUST EAT! It is my new favourite YEG gem
Recently, my sons craving for the dry and spicy chicken from Lingnan s food stall at Scotia Place called Chicken for Lunch led me to order two servings through Uber from Lingnan. However, our anticipation turned into disappointment as the dish seemed to be 90% flour and only 10% chicken. Instead of enjoying dry and spicy chicken on Valentine s Day, it felt more like dry and spicy FLOUR! The quality of the product fell short of expectations, especially given the comparatively higher prices at Lingnan compared to other Chinese restaurants. Even frozen chicken popcorn from grocery stores offers more chicken and flavor. Overall, a disappointing experience with Lingnan.
Always amazing, the staff are the best and Amy comes to the table and always remembers us.
I am REALLY IMPRESSED with this restaurant. My wife and I went here not knowing what we were in for. It does not have any fancy outdoor decor but when we stepped inside, it had that grandiose fine-dining environment. My review will focus on three things: 1. FOOD. Compared to other Chinese restaurants in the city, the prices here are little above the usual price than the rest. We were looking at the menu and we were advised that we can go for the buffet. We took a look at the buffet menu and the regular menu and we decided to take a chance at the buffet for $29. I told my wife, lets try it just for the experience. We did and the food NEVER FAILED! Not only was it very tasty (not salty) but the texture was just melt-in-your-mouth experience. I really enjoyed the beans, the shrimp, peppercorn beef, chow mein, vegetable rice, chicken balls, etc! We were treated with a teapot full of tea (with a tea bag in) and we savoured the flavor in its entirety. Further, we were given wonton soup on the side and it is the most delicious wonton soup I ever had. The wontons itself was large enough to fill a tummy and it is unlimited!!! When we finished, we were treated with desserts! 2. ENVIRONMENT. The restaurant is CLASSY A.F. What you will see in the most expensive high-end dine-in restaurants are all here in this restaurant. Tables are big enough for two people (but can actually fit in 4 people). The chafing utensils at the buffet station are constantly replaced which ensures cleanliness. The washrooms are very clean. 3. STAFF. The friendliest, most accommodating, and very attentive staff I have seen. They have the flair but the most sweetest smiles you will see showing how they like socializing with people (and not just for the purpose of getting a tip). One of the staff always checks on me to see if I am out of the wonton soup and she would always refill. Other staff would always remove my plate once I am done so I can use a new plate at the buffet station. It is not just one person who checks on us but different staff as well. They make you feel welcome, at home, and want to stay longer. Comparing the amount that we spent here and the other Chinese restaurants, IT IS ALL WORTH IT! They deserve 5 stars for me. But do not take my word for it, just experience it yourself! Vegetarian options: They have mixed vegetables and beans. Parking: During rush hour, parking can be very difficult.
Lived in Edmonton my whole life but never been to Lingnan until now, but I ve always heard about it and seen it pop up in news and other media. I tried various dishes and found them to be okay. Nothing amazing, but still good. Just the peach shrimp was much different than I expected in terms of authentic flavours. The interior decor is very nice - clean and well decorated. Makes me feel like I walked into a Rush Hour movie.
Best Chinese food in the city HANDS DOWN! Amy is the best host!
I believe your buffet is available weekends and oilers game days...would this include away games as well ? Thank you
Ive been going to this restaurant since I was in high school in the late 80s. The food is just as good, and the staff are way, way better. Ive never been to the Lingnan and left unhappy. My go-to for Chinese food every time!
A fantastic meal and ambience, and the best service my partner or I had ever received, at a buffet or no. Thank you for a lovely Christmas Eve!
Great buffet! Just the right amount of selection and the food was always hot and fresh.
The Lingnan is an Edmonton institution which serves good Western Canadian-style Chinese food. Unfortunately, theyve become a victim of their own success and the delivery service isnt acceptable. We ordered online a day before and it was confirmed by a phone call. The food came 1.5 hours late and was missing a dish. In fairness, they did quickly deliver the missing dish after I called to complain, but their excuse was that theyre so busy. Please be aware, if youre ordering for a party, The Lingnan might not be able to meet their customers requirements. Again, I cant fault the food quality or taste, but if theyre too busy to serve their customers, then I think I will take my business elsewhere next time.
Excellent food, even better service. These people go above and beyond. Highly recommend.
good establishment. The buffet was delicious, I really liked everything. not expensive cocktails, they were delicious and a very tasty dessert
First time at Lingnan and received Shockingly bad Cantonese Chow Mein. Hardly any meats and no vegetables, unlike that of other Chinese restaurants in the city. I expected more for $18.50+ tax and tip. See photo it was just soy sauce noodles! Not recommended
Ive ordered the combo plates (B) and (C) both very delicious. Amy is a wonderful owner very pleasant woman! Fresh food everytime.
Just amazing all around great costumers service food atmosphere highly recommend
The Lignan, Chinese restaurant in Edmonton is run by the renowned Quon Dynasty as featured on citytv and also at the tast of edmonton event in the summer. A legend for Edmontons China Town and running since the early 60s in the same location! We opted for the buffet which was excellent accompanied with exceptional service...including a seniors discount that came automatically without any questions asked..
All the food was great except the chicken. A little dry.
Was there for a family Birthday. Service was awesome, buffet was very good for our large group and accommodated for gluten free options. Overall was very good.
Buffet was great, only a small selection. Buy l would trade quality over quantity. Well done Food
Always good
Great ginger Beef.
Not a big selection but what s available is quite tasty. Clean restaurant
Hands down one of the best Chinese restaurants I have ever eaten at. Food was fantastic, service was amazing! Definitely going to be eating here again...
Amazing ! Fabulous service !!!
Best Chinese Ive ever had!
Best chinese food I ever had. Old fashioned chinese decor makes for a great atmosphere. They also have great chinese beer.
Went for the Sunday evening buffet, for $ 29 the food was just ok, there are definitely other buffets in town with way more selection and decent quality. No desserts other than a little donut ball they bring to you in a little paper container with some melted honey type substance on top. Does not live up to all the hype Parking: Beware , this restaurant is located in one of the worst neighbour hoods ( the inner City ) of Edmonton, several questionable people wandering around , beware of your surroundings and property if having to walk any distance to the establishment
I don t normally post less than 3 star reviews but on this case it was warranted. We heard about ling nan from friends and we also tried it at taste of Edmonton. The dry spicy chicken was what intrigued us to give their other dishes a shot since it was THAT good, however this wasn t the case. The rice and chow mein was flavourless and lack lustre. The spring rolls were just meat rolls no veggies nothing. The dry spicy chicken was not crispy like it was at taste but of course this was because it was take out. I am quite disappointed as each dish was $19 so you expect exceptional taste. I will not return again for anything other than the 3 tickets it costs at taste to get fresh dry chicken.
Always a classic. Wish the buffet was available on more days than game days (parking is tough) and weekends. Lovely atmosphere and service. Dry spicy chicken haunts my dreams, I love it so. More pricy than the neighbourhood Chinese food shop, but 100% better. Highly recommend buffet, good value and variety!
A family favourite forever. We usually do delivery and it always arrives hot and delicious. Thank you Lingnan, we appreciate you!
Went before the 2023 Heritage Classic and they prepared the buffet early to accommodate the few of us that had to get to the game. Amy came out and chatted with us, shes very welcoming and funny.
Great experience we love Amy so friendly and yummy food.
Great Buffet, plenty of choices on the buffet. I totally enjoyed
. & !
Dry spicy chicken is amazing!
I recently tried out this Chinese buffet restaurant called The Lingnan Restaurant and let me tell you, it was absolutely incredible! The highlight of the whole experience was definitely the mini donuts they had at the buffet. I couldnt resist having one after another, they were just too good! However, I have to let you know that they ran out of mini donuts after I indulged in quite a few of them. But dont worry, there were still plenty of other delicious dishes to enjoy. The flavors were amazing, the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy. If youre in the mood for a scrumptious Chinese buffet, The Lingnan Restaurant wont disappoint!
The food is always delicious and the service here is wonderful. Everyone is so warm and friendly. The green onion cakes here are by far the best Ive ever had. chicken balls and spring rolls are delish! If you havent tried out this gem I highly recommend it. This evening we had a large birthday party at this restaurant. They blocked off a portion of the restaurant for us at the back, so we had a bit of privacy and containment to socialize. The birthday girl was just absolutely ecstatic to come here for her 90th. The families that hosted this party have been long time customers and have passed that down through the generation. This gives you an idea of how consistent the food and service is here that theyve retained customers over decades. Thank you for having us and making our event special. Dietary restrictions: We had several people in our party that were celiac/gluten-free and there was no issues with accommodations for them. Kid-friendliness: We are children in our party and there were no issues. The servers were extremely friendly and made. The children feel welcome.
Absolutely the best Chinese food in the city. Boasts a gorgeous classic interior of handpainted tiles and warm friendly staff. Will definitely be back. I recommend the salty spicy crispy tofu and mapo Tofu. Try a cocktail with the salted plum gin! (It slaps) Incredible evening with fresh delicious food. Many many thanks!
This place is hands down the best place fore fresh and delicious food. Highly recommend. Worth the extra drive to get such great quality.
I only gave 4 stars because of the small buffet. Everything else was amazing!
I will highly recommend this restaurant which offers Authentic Chinese food & excellent customer service .
(a review from my daughter) The food was delicious and when we were just waiting for my grandpa to finish his wine, Mrs. Quon came to the table and offered us a complimentary dessert and lollipop and thanked me for such good behavior ( I am 9 years old). We had buffet and my favourite dish was the mandarin shrimp and green onion cakes. everyone was so nice and I think everyone should try The Lingnan.
Tried the Lingnan for the first time. I actually got a hair in my food, but the restaurant was packed to full capacity. It probably fell off someones shirt. I dont blame the restaurant for this. Its hard to find a decent buffet anymore with todays outrageous food prices. This is a good spot for Chinese style buffet. Its a small buffet, but everything was hot and fresh. Good flavors. Seemed to be quality meat. Its an older building, nice decor, and fairly clean.
Food quality and service has gone down hill.
Amazing food! Excellent service. Buffet had all the best stuff you want!!!
The Lingnan is a Must Have for any Chinese food enthusiast. If youve been thinking about going stop thinking and go!
Nice chinese restaurant in city
The Best Chinese food you have ever eaten
It s a icon experience, this family has made this such an enjoyable experience and with so many gluten free menu items I m always so pleased with my options, I never feel that I m missing anything.
The Lingnan is such a wonderful restaurant and one of the gems in Edmonton. While you wont find the most traditional dishes here, youll get really great western-style Chinese food. I was dining on a Friday night with my family for the buffet and everything was hot and super tasty. The service is super quick and really efficient. All the staff are so nice and the owner especially is really hands on. She ended up chatting with us (she knows my aunt whos a regular) and shes such a sweet lady. I highly recommend everyone tries this place! Parking is a little difficult, but if you can, definitely check The Lingnan out. You wont be disappointed! Also the prices are pretty affordable! It was $29 per adult for the buffet and you easily can get that value immediately back from 2 servings.
delivered meal failed. will not order again. made me ill
Great food and atmosphere. The buffet menu is amazing, lots of different choices and all are delicious. The service is also great. Fair price for such delicious buffet options.
I ve been twice now and each time it was a great time. The staff are super attentive and a pleasure to talk to. Lots of choices in the menu. Each time was different menu items and all delicious.
