Familiar, comfortable and elegant. Enjoy craft cocktails and local dishes in a dynamic setting overlooking the North Saskatchewan River. Traditional Royal Tea is served on the weekends. Warm scones, sandwiches, and desserts are complemented by Fairmont curated specialty teas.
We went to High Tea for a dual birthday celebration and I was blown away by the quality of the food, tea, and experience. For the price, I wasn't sure if there would be enough food but we actually had to take several things to go. Every item, savory or sweet, was crafted to perfection with the perfect balance of flavour. The tea selection was varied, with a little bit of something for all of us. The service was lovely as well. I highly recommend high tea here!
We did the Harvest Room Long Table Dinner. It was exquisite! We had appetizers outside and then moved inside due to the wind. The room was gorgeously decorated. Each course was thoughtfully paired with wine or mocktails. The service was excellent and we will definitely return for the local sourced dishes and attention to detail that was provided.
Had dinner in terrace. Was able to enjoy beautiful scenery and the garden! Foods were great.
Top tier cuisine of Edmonton. Every ingredient and cooking technique flawlessly carried out to perfection. This restaurant is one of only a handful of restaurants left in Edmonton that is proper Fine-Dining. If you missed out on the excellent food from the Hardware Grill before they closed, these meals are on par, albeit with a more conservative menu. 10/10. My compliments to the chefs and front of house.
A Disheartening High Tea Experience In the heart of a renowned hotel, expectations for a high tea event are naturally elevated. Regrettably, this visit was marked by a series of disappointments that overshadowed the picturesque river views and the refined ambiance typically associated with this establishment. The experience began on a sour note with cutlery that was visibly unpolished and dishes that bore stains, a stark contrast to the expected elegance. Such oversight in table presentation sets a disconcerting tone for what should be a sophisticated affair. The tea selection, often the centerpiece of a high tea event, was disappointingly mediocre. The assortment lacked the refined quality one anticipates from a venue of this caliber. This was a missed opportunity to dazzle with a well-curated array of teas. The pastries and savory items further compounded the disappointment. The madeleines, seemingly sourced from Costco, were dipped in chocolate that was poorly tempered, resulting in a lackluster presentation and taste. The cucumber sandwiches were particularly disheartening, with stale bread and slightly rancid cucumbers that suggested they had been prepared the previous day. This lack of freshness was a recurring theme, as many savory items exhibited a dry crust indicative of extended exposure. These are merely a few examples of the overall poor quality that permeated the entire menu. To add insult to injury, the experience was expensive and did not justify the high price point. The lack of attention to detail in presentation and the subpar quality of the food made it a poor value for the cost. Despite the excellent service provided by the attentive staff, who did their best to accommodate and assist, the food and presentation fell significantly short. Overall, the high tea event fell short in multiple areas, from the lack of attention to detail in presentation to the subpar quality of the food. For a venue with such a storied reputation, this experience was a profound letdown and certainly not worth the price.
The Harvest Room High Tea service is an experience I highly recommend to any foodie or high tea lover! The service was impeccable, even before our arrival the gentleman who booked our reservation was kind, informative, and very accommodating for the allergies in our group. He reassured me that everything would be taken care of beforehand and there would be no risk of cross contamination as two of our members have serious food allergies. He also asked the occasion and it was for a birthday. On arrival, we were seated right on time for our reservation and while the dining room and lobby are very beautiful, I do wish we had been seated closer to the patio or near the windows. This may have been due to the high tea service happening in one area of the restaurant and brunch in the other, however. Our server was excellent and went over and above for us. He explained all of our choices thoroughly and made a great recommendation. When it came time for our towers of treats, he was very careful in setting down the trees separately and explained that there had been no chance of cross-contamination during the preparation or plating. He was incredibly knowledgeable on all of the items on the trays and even gave us the backstory to certain ingredients or pastries. The food itself was divine. The scones were delicious and fluffy, despite how filling they were! Each of the sandwiches was made to perfection and the croissant was one of my favorites. The desserts were almost too beautiful to eat and somehow tasted even better. We were not able to finish all of our goodies and we were provided with a box to take the rest of our treats home. Surprisingly they kept just as well and were just as delicious as a late night snack. The only improvement that could be made is I wish you could have purchased the tea you had chosen to take home as a gift or as a reminder of the experience. Either way I would highly recommend The Harvest Room’s High Tea and I cannot wait to be back again!
What an amazing experience, the food is like nothing I've ever tasted in my life! Absolutely amazing!! Michelle was our server she was kind friendly and helpful! I ordered the avocado toast with a green smoothie and an egg on top and side of bacon. Our server also gave us some hollandaise sauce to taste, which was unreal! It just tasted fresh and buttery! Thank you Harvest Room for this experience!
Have had a chance to enjoy a wonderful brunch, a la carte breakfast, and Afternoon Tea at The Harvest Room. We opted for the buffet during brunch. There was a large selection of items for brunch from a cold selection of fruits, meats, and cheeses, to your usual hot breakfast foods: scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, tomatoes, oatmeal, and my favorite eggs benedict. And also delicious pastries and baked goods (there was more, I just can't remember everything). Everything tasted delicious and the buffet was very reasonably priced given the selection. Had the breakfast board to share with my husband during our visit for breakfast. There was so much food we couldn't finish. Cannot wait to enjoy this again on our next visit!
For the price, I was disappointed by undercooked butternut squash pasta and grocery store bread. Views were nice.
Upon calling, we were advised that 5 Adults and 2 children under 3 years old would be $817.49 (tax and grat included) plus parking. For Brunch??!! Yes, this is a premium establishment that we have supported for many years. Its atmosphere is beautiful. With that said, almost a thousand dollars for a brunch for 5 is outlandish. For many years on the last week of November we celebrate our anniversary, and 2 birthdays by meeting for Sunday Brunch at the Hotel MacDonald. Going forward, we will be seeking an alternate place to celebrate.
The meal did not live up to the hype. We bought the 3 course meals for 99 but my meal would have added up to 84$ and still got charged 99$? We waited a long time between meals. We just had higher expectations.
Very good and friendly, we celebrated out 7th anniversary here an it was very nice.
Great server Michelle I had in August. She went above and beyond! Sharing her great hospitality! I look forward to eating here again when in Edmonton!
I had the pleasure of taking my friend to high tea at the Fairmont Hotels Harvest Room this afternoon, and I cant express enough how wonderful the experience was. Knowing that my friend was going through a rough patch, I reached out to the team ahead of time to let them know it was her first high tea, and they truly went above and beyond to make it special. The highlight of our visit was the incredible dessert crafted by their talented sous chef. They surprised us with a deliciously chocolaty twist on a Paris Brest, which was not only exquisite in flavor but also a thoughtful gesture that made my friends day. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the entire team for their kindness and attention to detail. Their efforts made our afternoon unforgettable, and I highly recommend the Harvest Room for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable high tea experience. Thank you for making my friends day so special!
Can t get better service! thank you so much for the night
We have decided to chill there after health club (members). Ordered burger and asked precisely without pickles, unfortunately it was injured and we found lots of pickles in the burger. As well we have 10 or 15% discounts as we are members but it wasn t applied as well to our check nice atmosphere but was ruined by not attentive staff
Expected more being as this restarunt is located in Hotel MacDonald. Menu is small and the portions even smaller. Although not horrible, I have shot out snot rockets bigger than the portion of fish I paid $49 for. Decore was relatively plain and uninspiring. Service was nothing over the top. The mens washroom had paper towell all over the floor, the garbage was overflowing and there was no handsoap. Dissapointed I brought my girlfriend here for our anniversary.
Food is under whelming.
Stayed at the hotel for a few days, only had breakfast here and wasnt exactly blown away. Had the boar bacon sandwich and they really skimped on the bacon, and under salted everything but also didnt bring us any SnP for the table. Service was average, Im not trying to be super critical but at the prices you pay, for the experience I would have thought some of these things would be better. The hotel was nice and all other staff were very friendly I would definitely come back and try other things. Should be noted that we were here mid week at non peak times.
Great view. Relaxing atmosphere.
My partner and I went to the Harvest Room for Valentines day. It was a set menu for $450 plus tax plus drinks. The food was absolutely garbage. The duo of beef was taken home and fed to my dog. Ive never had a desert I didnt like. Plain vanilla ice cream would have been better. Service was good but not spectacular. Maybe they were just too busy and over booked. Obviously, we are paying for the atmosphere but when you are still hungry after paying over $500 for the evening. Thats a horrible and one memorable valentines day.
Excellent service and food! One of the best places Ive been to here in Edmonton.
Thought I went for Father s Day brunch but it wasn t clear on open table so apparently we just booked breakfast for 7 people for 9:30am. Brunch in a different room and not open until 10am. Had to search for someone at the front to even greet us and check our reservation. Took about 5 min. We arrived a bit early but table not ready until 9:45. Service was average. Food was terrible. Most came with a side of 4 overdone and oversalted potatoes and lliterally one overcooked piece of oven roasted tomatoe . The toast was one piece of buttered toast that looked like it was a loaf from the local grocery store. Small portions and not well cooked main menu items. Plus parking all around there very expensive. I was ready to treat the family to a special brunch. Instead it was overpriced, small portions, and not tasty in a dated room. We won t be back. Denny s would ve been better.
Visited the Harvest Room for dinner with my Girlfriend. Ivan and Jonathan provided an amazing dinner experience. Go for the Lobster & Prawn Arrabbiata.
We were late and the Harvest Room was closing right at the last minute when we got there. They had a really big event and it was a lot to feed us. The staff, under this pressure, was kind, professional, and very generous (especially our server). They worked extra for us and we came away with a high quality experience.
Celebrated our wedding anniversary and had a fabulous time. Our host made our night even more special and surprised us by offering a complimentary dessert and helping us take photos in front of the beautifully decorated restaurant. She and the others went above and beyond. Food was delicious. The service was attentive. The atmosphere was charming. We would return and recommend this to others!
I went for Mother s Day breakfast and it was one of the worst breakfasts I ve ever had. First try, they cooked my eggs completely wrong. Ordered poached medium, the sent out one hard one softer than soft if that s possible. Second try came out ok but tasted like they came from a warmer. Food wasn t hot, toast was rock hard, potatoes were dry, and everything was just bland. Zero seasoning on anything. Neither of us finished our food. And they just offered a mimosa for the wait on the recook. For Mothers Day I expected way more, so I definitely wouldn t go back on a normal weekend.
Best restaurant in Edmonton.
The Harvest Room at the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald is a beacon of excellence in Edmonton, but the food at my most recent experience left me disappointed. We visited during downtown dining week on a quiet Monday evening, with only a handful of tables occupied. While the Mushroom soup from the regular menu was outstanding, the grilled Octopus was severely overcooked. Our excellent server replaced it with a better-prepared dish after some delay. It gave us time to enjoy the house bread. It also gave us some of our first real belly-laughs of the evening. While the bread tasted excellent, it was also a test for strong teeth. Not quite as hard as ice cubes but, close. Moving on to the event menu, the Bison Carpaccio had a weak flavour and paste-like texture. Our first indication of a problem in the kitchen. The lamb suffered from excessive mustard in the crust, masking all of the other flavours. Additionally, both lamb dishes were cooked to medium, disregarding our request for one medium-well and one rare. Believing that a rare order should not take long, only one was sent back. The replacement dish arrived late though. Well after my companion had finished her entree and, more cartoonishly hard bread. Dessert, was a better experience. An excellent Lemon Meringue albeit served in extremely hard cookie-crust shells. Despite these culinary hiccups, our three-hour meal was spent in a beautiful room and in good company. Parts of the bill were laughably discounted by the manager. The apparent presumption being that this was somehow partly our fault. We found the lack of self-awareness to be expensive but, hilarious and couldnt help but laugh even more at the situation. Despite the disappointing food on this visit, we enjoyed our evening at the Harvest Room and we will certainly return to the Mac in the future. It is an Edmonton institution of unparalleled class and beauty that deserves our full-throated support. Next time I go though, I might stop to eat somewhere first.
Ah the Fairmont, always a symbol of luxury and perfect experiences. Sorry to say except for this one in Edmonton. I have gone here many times over the years and they have steadily been declining from thier already not very good standing. Went for high tea, sandwiches were dry, desserts were ok, tea and service was top notch though. For comparison the high tea at the Fairmont empress in Victoria had amazing sandwiches and savouries and the experience was amazing, so this Fairmont has just let themselves go downhill. Also went for the harvest room breakfast buffet. Which I remembered to be really good 7 years ago. It was terrible, eggs Benedicts now served in a buffet warmer not freshly, every food item was bland and just disappointing, again though the service was amazing, at least they still have that going for themselves.
We were staying in the hotel and ate breakfast here both mornings, which was included in our room rate (except for overage charges, which wasnt the case at the Palliser). The atmosphere isnt as nice as the Confederation Lounge next door but it still has a nice view. Food was good and service was good. Nothing else to report or comment on, it did the trick. Solid 4-star overall.
Tried their Christmas Eve dinner package. Three course meal with complimentary bread and butter upon request. Overall: 8.8 Worth it given the price? Once in a blue moon maybe. The food was good, service and atmosphere excellent, but you can get a lot of tastier products for $130. Price per person: $130 Bread (ciabatta): Crust: 8.8/10 Inner dough: 8.9/10 Freshness: 8.6/10 Butter: 8.9/10 Sweet potato soup with pistachio: Portion: 8.9/10 Freshness: 9.0/10 Thickness: 9.0/10; could be used as a dipping sauce. Seasoning: 9.0/10; we ll seasoned. Savouriness: 9.1/10. Flavour identifiability: 8.8/10; sweet potato could be tasted. Crushed pistachio pieces also present. Boar bacon wrapped beef tenderloin: Portion: 8.9/10 Boar bacon: 9.0/10 Beef tenderloin: 9.1/10 Juiciness: 9.0/10 Seasoning: 8.8/10; well seasoned but not excessive. Fat content: 8.6/10; mostly from the bacon. Potato Rosti (side): Portion: 8.7/10 Seasoning: 8.5/10; a bit salty but compliments the beef well. Crispness: 8.6/10 Turkey dinner: Portion: 8.8/10 Juiciness: 8.7/10; not dry for a turkey. Turkey: 8.6/10 Stuffing: 8.9/10 Mashed potatoes: 9.0/10 Vegetables (turnips, brussel sprouts): 8.7/10. Fresh, but only a few pieces. Cranberry sauce: 8.8/10; more sour than sweet but adds a pleasant amount of acid to balance the savouriness. Chestnuts cream chocolate Yule log: Portion: 8.9/10 Chocolate flavour: 9.0/10 Sweet to savoury balance: 9.1/10; not too sweet; good balance of dark chocolate flakes and decadent semi sweet chocolate cake. Chestnut cream: 9.0/10; a bit nutty, a bit sweet, served nicely chilled but satisfyingly spreadable. Berry compote (jam/sauce): 9.2/10; key component of balancing the richness of this desert. Not too sweet and the acidity cuts through the cake and cream.
Ive been here a couple of times, for high tea and special events. The food has been delicious every time, and the servers are so friendly and attentive. Compared to some other restaurants, they can be expensive. However, I would recommend coming here for their special events or for a special date. The price is worth it for the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the scenic views. Parking: Since its downtown, there is a lot of parking options to choose from, but they may all be pricey depending on the time and day.
I technically had breakfast at the Empire Ballroom. Best brunch in Edmonton I have been to many. The eggs benedict was my favourite it was my first time having eggs benedict.Great selection of food such as pastas, salads, desserts, seafood, meat and almost everything you can think of for breakfast. The only thing I didn t like was that the ceasar salad dressing was way too garlicky.
This gives you the Paris-like ambiance when you are eating your breakfast. I recommend the croissants and their cold cuts. The view is so nice and staff are so friendly as well. Great to start your mornings.
Stellar service. Every dish we had was amazingly seasoned. Highly recommend.
The buffet is not worth the money, the eggs are extremely runny, I couldn t even cut my eggs benny. The bacon tasted like precooked bacon and was chewy. At $37 a person for breakfast buffet I expect a much high quality of food. I have had better buffet breakfast at a Best Western. Do not recommend.
One of the best dining experiences in edmonton, food is very tasty. Service is excellent and the atmosphere is fantastic.
We were the only table for half of our time there, and then there was only 1 other before we finished. Very quiet for a Friday evening. My meal was great, mushroom ravioli, the other meal was heavy on the sauce which overpowered the dish, but still tasty. Great service and atmosphere as always, which compliments the company youre with!
The food portions were great, the waiters and service was excellent, the cocktails were absolutely disgusting and $25/each, was like drinking paint thinner or equivelant. The overall atmosphere needs some updating as it felt like we ate in a funeral home, the hotel is a gem but need to be brought up to 2023, or remodeled to 1915 restoration standards.
Came for breakfast this morning, the food was great and the staff was very nice, the front of house was very friendly and pleasant to chat with and my sever was fast and nice to be around! I will be coming back
Best experience from the moment we walked in the host named Hailey greeted us immediately then talked to us as we walked to the table asking about our day and letting us know what s good! Then we were greeted by an amazing server Douglas, got the brunch board for two! Everything was perfect!
Sublime food and service. My favorite restaurant in Edmonton Kid-friendliness: Our 4 year old had the kids burger with smoked gouda cheese
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Harvest Room restaurant, and I can confidently say it exceeded all expectations. From the moment I stepped inside, the magical ambiance transported me to another world. The restaurants enchanting decor and panoramic views overlooking the river valley made me feel like I was in a different country. It was a visual feast for the eyes, setting the stage for an extraordinary dining experience. Now lets talk about the food. Never before have I encountered such flavor and tenderness in beef. Every bite was a revelation, showcasing the culinary expertise and dedication to quality. The beef was beyond compare, and the buttermilk mashed potatoes were like a stroke of culinary magic. The creamy, fluffy texture and rich, buttery flavor were a perfect complement to the exquisite beef. It was a combination that danced harmoniously on my palate, leaving me in awe of the incredible flavors. The attention to detail and the use of high-quality ingredients were evident in every aspect of the meal. The presentation was impeccable, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. The talented chefs at The Harvest Room truly know how to create a memorable culinary experience. Adding to the overall allure, the attentive and friendly staff provided exceptional service throughout the evening. They were knowledgeable, accommodating, and ensured that every need was met, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the dining experience. In conclusion, The Harvest Room is a shining gem that offers an extraordinary blend of sensational cuisine and a mesmerizing ambiance. Whether youre looking for a romantic dinner, a celebration, or simply a memorable night out, this restaurant delivers on all fronts. Prepare to be captivated by the enchanting atmosphere, awe-inspiring views, and culinary masterpieces that will leave you with a lasting impression. Its a dining experience that should not be missed. Thank you for making my moms birthday dinner such an amazing experience!
We treated ourselves to breakfast at the Fairmont. Its was absolutely fantastic! If the weather allows, sit outside and enjoy the views!
The high tea is wonderful. Great service, food, tea and ambiance. Always a pleasure to join them for tea.
Such wonderful staff. Beautiful presentation and such tasty food. Best steak Ive had in a long time
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND FOR HIGH TEA! As a gold member with Fairmont this particular spot is not worthwhile. I recommend looking elsewhere. I had to cancel because of a very severe and unforeseen circumstance and they were incredibly inflexible about the cancellation even though I called 2 days in advance.
Friendly greeting. Had to ask to get water refilled Eggs were overcooked and not runny like an eggs Benny should be Taste was decent but the portion was tiny, thankfully I have some subway left over. Worst part is, of the 4 people that watched me leave. Not a single person even asked how breakfast was.
I recently visited this restaurant to celebrate my boyfriends birthday, and I must say I had a less-than-pleasant experience. While the food was okay and would probably warrant a 3-star rating on its own, it was the service that left me extremely disappointed. I had called ahead to make a reservation for Tuesday at 7:30 pm and specifically mentioned that it was to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. I inquired about bringing my own cake, and the lady on the phone confirmed that it was allowed, with a charge of $6, which I agreed to. On the day of the reservation, I took the effort to pick up the cake and deliver it to the restaurant at 5:00 pm, going back and forth for a total of 1 and a half hours. When we arrived at 7:25 pm, I went inside first to remind the receptionist about the surprise cake. I requested that the server not mention anything about it, and I wanted the cake to be served with our main dishes for a nice photo opportunity. I provided a box of candles and specified that only 5 candles should be used. As we approached the entrance, we saw a gentleman holding our cake who quickly left as soon as he spotted us. It was evident that the surprise was already ruined, even though my boyfriend didnt say anything until later. Throughout the meal, there was no sign of the cake. Only after we finished our food the server come to our table and asked if we still want the cake we brought, completely spoiling the surprise. To add to the disappointment, when the cake finally arrived, it was still in its box, and I had to set up the candles myself. I had three simple requests, none of which were fulfilled. I still gave a 15% tip to the server because I felt he probably didnt know anything; this was clearly a lack of communication between the staff. A friend had arranged a similar surprise for me at another restaurant on Whyte Ave, and that experience was genuinely heartwarming, with the server bringing out the cake with lit candles and singing the birthday song. I had hoped to create a similar special memory for my boyfriend, but it was a total failure. The total bill amounted to $240, and parking was $25. Sadly, I dont feel it was worth the cost. I regret not choosing another restaurant, as it may have provided a better celebration experience. In conclusion, if you plan to celebrate a special occasion like I did, I would advise you not to have high expectations at this restaurant, as they seem to fall short in creating a truly memorable experience.
Great dining experience, Rhena was very accommodating and attentive. Thank you for the recommendations!
My husband and I have been here twice for dinner. Both experiences are great, and the ones we ordered are to die for! We d always go for their 3/4-course dinner. Both instances we had tenderloin steak. Yum! Their freshly baked bread is our favorite, the deciding factor when choosing which place to treat ourselves to. Haha! The service is always great, too. I forgot the name of the first server, maybe Drew? The second time around it was Rhena. Pretty sure we will be back again.
Went for afternoon tea with my friend for the first time at this location. We had been to other fairmont locations for high tea before and loved our experiences which is why we decided to go again. Food was okay, the tea choices were limited but this was not the issue. The part that was really disappointing and the main reason I will never return here for any dining experience was the horrible service we received. Our waiter was very rude, very argumentative and was bothered by any request we made. His excuse was that we had to make any requests prior to our arrival at the time of booking, and that we should have mentioned our requests when we got a call confirming our reservation which we never received. He stood there and argued that we must have put in the wrong phone number as they always call to confirm reservations , so basically we are lying? The only two requests we had was IF it was possible to substitute ham for another option as we do not eat ham and my friend had an allergy she was worried about. He was very dismissive and bothered about the allergy and that we had not mentioned it at the time of booking. I would have been okay with the restaurant not being able to accommodate the allergy or the substitution on the spot for whatever reason ( even though it was just an allergy to one kind of juice) but the complete lack of respect and attitude we received was unbelievable. I would have expected much much better service at a hotel such as the fairmont.
I had the pleasure of being served by Helene. She was super attentive, personable and a pleasure to have met. She provided excellent and accurate information and recommendations on the food options and was such a nice person. The food was amazing, I ate more than I should have, but I d do it again! Thank you!
There is a certain expectation of what an experience at a Fairmont property should be like. This is the reason a group of girlfriends chose to celebrate a friend s milestone birthday with High Tea in the Harvest Room. The experience fell short of expectations. Things were simply ok however at that price point and at the Hotel McDonald things should have been exceptional. Some examples of where things fell short are: - no offer to take coats and no where to place long coats - long pauses in service. Getting both tea and food took a rather long time considering things are obviously preprepared and the room wasn t sold out. -the sandwich bread was dry as though things had sat out uncovered overnight and the proteins were starting to get a crusty texture - items weren t all exactly as described in the menu. For example the mini bagel with the salmon was replaced with regular bagel cut into odd pieces sacrificing both the presentation and taste of the sandwich - the red velvet cupcake tasted like freezer - the service, while she made efforts to make the birthday guest feel celebrated, lacked polish. Also a warning that the room is exceptionally warm during the day. Apparently this is because of the large windows and there was nothing that could be done about it (we asked). Overall, without improvements, I would be unlikely to return. Dietary restrictions: Allergies within the group were handled well. Replacement items were great.
Personable service and great consistent food.
We had a wonderful afternoon tea experience, impeccable service and hospitality..detailed & attentive..presentation and flavour profiles absolutely perfect! Lovely Vegetarian options: The chef customised our experience by creating a fabulous vegetarian menu for our tea time. Delicate flavours melded together beautifully.
I live the ambience, the waiters are courteous and well informed about whats on the menu. The chef are 5-star. Cant wait to visit again. Food
The service and food was second-to-none. Jonathan made sure we were looked after and our server Jacob was attentive and kind. The chef was incredible and whipped up fresh scones for our party of six - making our special occasion so memorable. The food was exquisite and atmosphere delightful! Thank you to Jonathan and all the staff in the kitchen that made our High Tea so memorable!
Took some friends to high tea today and had a wonderful time . What a great experience . Delicious tea and treats . Excellent service as well . Hope to go again
A Majestic Afternoon Delight at the Harvest Room, Fairmont Hotel Macdonald My recent visit to the Harvest Room at the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald for their High Tea experience was nothing short of spectacular. Nestled within the iconic Fairmont Hotel, the Harvest Room offers a dining experience that seamlessly blends opulence, tradition, and exceptional service. The atmosphere of the Harvest Room is simply enchanting. Stepping into the dining room feels like entering a bygone era of elegance, with its rich decor and stunning views of the city. The ambiance alone makes it a must-visit spot in Edmonton, setting the stage for a truly memorable afternoon. Service at the Harvest Room is deserving of high praise. The staff struck a perfect balance between attentiveness and unobtrusiveness. They were readily available when needed, ensuring our teacups were never empty and graciously answering any questions we had. The attention to detail demonstrated by the staff contributed significantly to our overall enjoyment. The culinary experience at the Harvest Room surpassed all expectations. The food was not only excellent but also abundant and beautifully presented. Each bite was a culinary masterpiece, showcasing the chefs skill and dedication to quality. The selection of treats ranged from savory to sweet, satisfying every palate. The tea selection, a crucial element of any high tea experience, was nothing short of exceptional. A diverse array of teas, each with its unique flavor profile, catered to both traditional and adventurous tea enthusiasts. The knowledgeable staff guided us through the selection, enhancing the overall experience. The Harvest Room at the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald has created an afternoon ritual that is perfect for special occasions or simply indulging in the finer things in life. I left with a sense of contentment, promising myself to make this a yearly tradition with a cherished group of friends or family. In conclusion, the Harvest Rooms High Tea at the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald is a delightful journey into refined indulgence. From the exquisite atmosphere to the impeccable service and delectable food, it is an experience that should be savored at least once a year. I, for one, am already looking forward to my next visit.
Tuna Appy was excellent, loved the spicy sauce. Tenderloin was top notch we loved the 3 course dinner
Went here for my birthday and it was great! Great food and very friendly service.
Michelle Young was a great server for high tea. She was knowledgeable and made it fun .
Visited the Harvest Room for a Christmas lunch buffet. I was very impressed at the Covid measures they took including disposable gloves at the buffet stations. The food was fresh and warm, though the bread pudding was the only exception. It was dry and hard. Our waitress Rheina (spelling?) was absolutely amazing. Very friendly, helpful and attentive.
One of my favourites.
We stayed at the hotel for a couple of nights and ate here a few times. The service from Douglas was top notch. We enjoyed afternoon tea on Sunday. It was very tasty and came with a gift. I ll be back for sure!
Best restaurant in Edmonton!!!!
Stopped in for breakfast yesterday and it was one of the absolute best breakfasts Ive had in a long time. Amazing food. Friendly staff. Beautiful atmosphere. Highly recommend The Harvest Room. Will definitely be going back.
Such wonderful staff. Beautiful presentation and such tasty food. Best steak Ive had in a long time
I do enjoy the service. Their manager and waitress are professional and friendly. However, the foods are disappointing. Overcooked steak and too salty (we ordered medium rare). I really can t tell the difference between the dessert and Tim Bit. Compare to other top rated restaurants we have visited, the food and dining environment are the worst. We left half of the food unfinished. I believe there is a reason that more than half of the restaurant seats are empty in a Saturday night.
Great food, great service and amazing atmosphere, however prices are out of touch with reality.
Best afternoon tea I have had in a long time. Went here during our stay at the fairmont macdonald. Beautiful bone chinas, authentic savory course, freshly baked scones, earl grey tea brewed to perfection!! Champagne with cherry! Loved everything about it. Our server was very helpful. Definitely will be back! You wont be dissappointed!
I had a very negative experience here. The bottom half of the glass holding my drink just split and dropped in my lap. I was drenched-ice, my drink and a large chunk of glass all over me. While accidents can happen, I was most upset by the caviler and uncaring response from the hostess. She did not seem the least concerned that my dress and shoes were likely ruined, and just brushed off my discomfort and dismay at what had happened. She did not even check to see that I had not been injured by the broken glass. The waitress did not charge me for the replacement drink brought to me, but no attempt was made to compensate me for a most unpleasant episode. THis is certainly not the kind of response appropriate for a first class restaurant in a flagship hotel. A lovely patio with a brilliant view and disdainful staff.
Top notch service from Douglas. Food was very good as well. I loved my tea (peppermint)!
Father s Day celebrations at the Harvest room seated outdoors in the patio area. Our server was Emily and she was phenomenal and courteous. The food was perfect portions of high quality ingredients accompanied with local beers on tap. A very memorable moment with my daughter.
Very disappointed. Used to be one of the best dining experiences.. used to look like a restaurant, now looks like a diner, used to have table cloths, not anymore. Serving drinks in a glass with fresh lipstick on it. Food is great! Prices didn t drop to offset the ambience of the restaurant, but quality of presentation and service is not there anymore.
Restaurant nice, but is horrible how there is no parking place ..
Stopped in for breakfast and it was realllyy good!!! Pricey but absolutely worth it. Friendly staff and Excellent service.
Love the patio dining.
At the time of my visit, the Confederation Lounge was under renovation and the Harvest Room was the only restaurant option in the hotel. I visited here for a few drinks and dessert during sunset. It was very romantic. The patio offers a gorgeous view of the river valley. One of my all-time favourite spots to sit, read, and enjoy a bevvie. The ambiance inside comfortable and warm while preserving its classic grandness. The dessert options were limited but decadent and delicious. Service is always impeccable here and is what I ve come to expect when I visit the Fairmont MacDonald and it s restaurants. It s this consistency in quality and service that keeps me coming back.
Michelle is amazing, always remembers us from previous stays, and consistently hits it out of the park with her recommendations. But everything is wondeful, no matter the time. The holindaise sauce in the salmon Benedict is a must try, and the wings with sauce on side are the most crispy and delicious wings youll ever try. Thanks Michelle!
Elegant and great steak.
We waited in line for the hostess who was getting someone a coffee for approximately 10 min. Once she returned we were next in line. A very rude old lady walked to the front of the line and cut me off and told the hostess she has a reservation. The hostess ignored us essentially and went to seat the old lady. Even though there were multiple people also in line. We decided to leave and go somewhere else. Terrible service from the hostess.
I was lucky enough to have dinner and breakfast here during a staycation both were incredible! The restaurant was cozy and romantic with a unique selection of cocktails and menu options. We sat on the outdoor patio for brunch and it had an incredible view of the city. The servers were so friendly and attentive, even as the patio filled up during our visit. After we ate, we were able to walk around the gardens and enjoy the gorgeous tropical flowers/plants, breathtaking views, and historical charm. Thank you to the staff at the Harvest Room You made our stay so special!
Location was phenomenal and definitely something to experience. I personally think the food/drink is a little pricey for what you get, however it also covers the cost of the beautiful patio views we were given!
Absolutely fabulous! Easily the best lunch we have had on our visit to Edmonton. Our service Michelle was professional polite and suggested the perfect dishes. The tomato coconut soup was out of this world as were the grilled Cauliflower. I ll be back
UPDATE: I was invited back and left really impressed and satisfied. I initially tried the High Tea a couple weeks back and left disappointed with the quality of the food however, the manager, Tojo called us back and invited us back to try the High Tea again, this time around there was a different Nut Cracker High Tea. The food quality was significantly better, bread was not stale, protein on the sandwiches were fresher, more garnish and attention to detail with the presentation of the food as well. Though I probably would only give 4 stars for the High Tea itself as I don t think the desserts had a lot variety in terms of textures, it was still tasty though. It is still however, something nice to try if you have not. Tojo and Douglas really made a difference and that is where my 5 stars come from. Tojo taking the time to call and invite us back for a better High Tea was not expected and left me impressed, I otherwise wouldn t have bothered trying the High Tea at Fairmont again if it wasnt for him. Douglas, our server, was very knowledgeable and explained in great detail what was served.
Had festive high tea with friends. Everything was delicious. I have to say the service was perfect as well. I will complain only about the price, this a once a year event!
While pricey, The Harvest Room is well worth it with fantastic food and drinks. I highly recommend boards (either breakfast or dinner) as they really showcase the quality of the chefs. If nothing else, try the Sablefish!
Went for Christmas Eve Dinner, it was amazing. The food was excellent and prepared just right 10/10. The staff were incredible, an experience that I would recommend for all families to do. The decorations at the hotel are very well done this year and dont miss the giant gingerbread house.
Amazing service, the food was amazing. Of course youre going to pay a lot but it was worth it to me .
I really enjoyed every times. All servers are great at harvest room MacDonals Hotel in Edmonton specially Michelle is amazing all the times.. She has beautiful smile and super nice !!!! appreciate !!!!
Beautiful patio. Great food and best service. Book online for reservations. We got a free piece of cake since it was for a birthday.
My wife and I have been coming here for 24 years straight on our anniversary night, and weve never had a bad meal or poor service.
Great experience! Loved the food. One of the best means to surprise spouse :)
Harvest room is an excellent place to have an elegant modern Canadian dining experience in a historical and refined setting. The service and timelessly beautiful venue are the main reasons to come as the service here is absolutely top notch, as you would expect from any high end restaurant. The food is also great! We had the crab cakes, mushroom bisque, beef carpaccio and the tenderloin. The crab cakes were delicious and very smartly paired with a vinaigrette and grapes which went really well with the crab cake! The bisque was one of the best I ve had, a great flavour bomb if you like mushrooms. The carpaccio was just fine. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly and tasted great as did the absolutely fantastic mashed potatoes that came with it! I would definitely come back here when if have something to celebrate. Special thanks to our server Dew Johnny for making our evening special and taking care of everything we needed!
I always stop by buying some food here. I love the rapid service and well prepared dishes. 5 stars
Food, drinks and service were great! Elegant and friendly.
Great restaurant! Great wait staff. Is what you envision when you read the menu.
Everything was ok. For some reason I wouldve thought the food choices would be at par with other fairmonts so I was just a little disappointed. Overall it was good! Stay away from the fruits though wasnt fresh! Was not a fan of food just being left out in the open for every bacteria or every cough and sneeze to land on! Do better please!
The food was good, but some otherwise well dressed man had his shirt on inside out, and I couldnt stop staring. I still think about it. I addressed it with the staff and they were all Oh, he is a regular, this is fine., but... is it? That tag staring at me from across the room... consuming me with ravenous fury... I have two regrets in life, and one of them is not resolving that situation no matter the cost.
Classy, modern, cozy.... a wonderful place to sip some coffee and eat some dessert.
Great service, excellent food love this place. I celebrated my bday here and saw the huge ginger bread house. I got a free cake and a desert
Very good restaurant in a lovely and historic venue. The service is great and on this visit, I started with the octopus and then had the cod dish as entree. They were very good. My wife had the crab cakes and short ribs and they were both delicious as well. Nice view of the river valley here. Recommended. 80
Very nice place to enjoy the evening with your better half. Food and service was excellent!
Excellent experience everytime here. Looking forward to them reopening!
Went there begging of October. There was eight of us. Was there one year ago. It was good. This year so different. The scones werent fresh no raisin scones. Heavy biscuits they were. Very little sandwiches mostly chocolate cakes. Lemon tart which was too lemony. For the price not worth it. Worst high tea ever had. We wont be back. I love the hotel the restaurant is lovely the view. It isnt enough to bring us back
I took my mother to the Harvest Room Nutcracker Afternoon Tea for her birthday this weekend, we had a wonderful time! From the moment we stepped foot inside the door of the Fairmont Mac the service was phenomenal. Specifically we have nothing but high praise for our server Michelle who did everything in her ability to make the afternoon all the more special for us ! Regarding the food we certainly arent salmon people but the rest of the food was on point, we were also kept well stocked with as much hot water, sugar and, milk we wanted for tea. Personal favorites of ours included the turkey with Cranberry & walnut on sourdough and the FANTASTIC mixed berry compote that came with the equally delicious scones. Like Michelle suggested we hope to be back for tea on the patio in the summer season.
I surprised my husband with High Tea at the Harvest Room. Everything was fabulous! Michelle was extra warm and made our visit that much more special. Highly recommend for a little getaway from outside the house.
Absolutely delicious, and we were completely pampered. Girlfriend approved!
Very nice setting and great food. A little more expense than the average reatauraunt we eat at but worth it for special occasions.
Fifth year toasting the holidays with high tea and it was just as much of a treat this year as it has been in past years. The scones and devonshire cream were heavenly. They are definitely the highlight of my high tea experience year after year. The transition to loose leaf tea as opposed to bag tea was a very appreciated choice!
Christmas Eve dinner for 4 was somewhat less than expected from what, over the years, has been one of our favourite restaurants in Edmonton. Price and quality were not aligned. Ill accept that a multi-course set menu must be a challenge to the kitchen, but too many items were overcooked or not that impressive. Service was very friendly, although service etiquette less than one expects at a Fairmont.
Delicious and delicately crafted fine foods.
Awesome food, service and view in the summer.
Great service with an amazing view! Expensive meal but it was delicious. Really is the nicest place you can have breakfast in Edmonton. Definitely not a greasy spoon diner but if you want to feel fancy then this is your place.
Good food and atmosphere, but be prepared to wait for the food to be made.
Service was exceptional and the food was fine - though not exceptional. We booked our dinner reservation to celebrate a birthday and the plan was to order the three course a la carte menu. Then, finding out it was Edmonton Downtown Dining week, we switched to that three course dinner special instead. It was fine but, in retrospect, it would have better suited our occasion and hopes for a truly exceptional meal to stick the the well respected Harvest room menu. Oh yes, our son did enjoy his smoked Manhattan (and we all chuckled when the diners at the next table table reported smelling smoke I. The dining room).
We had a memorable date night at the Harvest Room. It overlooks the North Saskatchewan River Valley, giving us a gorgeous view during dinner. We loved the romantic setting, and the staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable in the food and wine they serve.
Loved the ambiance and setting of the Harvest Room. Really wanted to love our whole experience but the food was a big let down. The food was so bland and looked sad (lacked color, style, textures). We re glad the meal was a downtown dining deal because we would have been extremely disappointed to pay full price for this. So many other high end restaurants to go to that make better use of ingredients in more creative ways.
The food was delectable. We woke up late, so we were there at around 10:30am. We did not know it closed at 11, it would have been nice if they told us when they seated us the food would be removed at 11am. The breakfast buffet is pricey at 31$ but the food was delicious. I ordered the fresh squeeze juice but did not know it was 10$ per glass, I would not have ordered it if I had known. The server was an absolute mensch. Some of the greatest service I have ever received. It was an Asian gentleman, I regret not taking his name. You can opt to sit on the patio with its illustrious views. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would dine again. The price deters me from leaving a 5-star rating. However, it is a Fairmont, so it is expected.
Great food and professional service
Wasnt impressed at all , nobody was dressed up an the food was sub par except the crackle cake .Felt like I was eating dinner in a funeral home . Historical building or not could at least replace cracked marble flooring in bathrooms
The breakfast buffet was incredibly subpar. Not at all worth the $30 price tag. The breakfast buffet at the Banff Fairmont is WAY better than this one.
Went for breakfast. Took the buffet option. The price is pretty much the same one way or the other. The food is fantastic. This is what a breakfast Buffett should really be like. Everything you expect done nearly perfectly.
One of our favourite places. Food and service are always amazing!
I recommend The Harvest Room Fairmont Hotel Macdonald restaurant Edmonton, Alberta - Canada Delicious Dinner . Fabulous service . impressive .
Fantastic food in an eligant and comfortable environment
The food and service were fantastic.
The High Tea was terrific.
The breakfast buffet not worth the price. Order off the menu.
VERY disappointed! Always wanted to go there. Went for our first time for my 60th birthday. They changed the menu three days before we got there. Wanted the Cornish hen n couldnt get it. Wanted three course dinner, couldnt get it. They offered still or sparkling water, not mentioning they charge $9 for a bottle of Perrier - $1 in the store... REDICULOUS!! $22 for valet parking or $35 to park yourself!! REDICULOUS!! The restaurant was run down: paint chipping off, carpets ripped n looked dirty, tables gouged/chipped/run down n no tablecloths, prices average but cheap on portions... $23 for 2 scallops, it was a joke. They made poor excuses but no discount. Would NEVER go back!!
Still one of the best, in town. The new JW Marriott hotel may give them a challenge. Its a classy downtown eating establishment, located in the historic Fairmont McDonald. The menu is updated seasonally. Prices lean toward the expensive side, so try it on special occasions.
Amazingly tantalizing fine cuisine! I truly recommend all to try this fine dining!
The Harvest room is quite beautiful to dine in, especially during the evening when the lighting is superb. We were seated immediately and the service was outstanding. The food was excellent as well and highly recommended for Dinner. We also had breakfast in the Harvest room and because we had the buffet the room was a little bit of a scramble with everyone rushing about to get their breakfast which is understandable. Overall the attention to detail in the room and excellent food and service make this a restaurant I would be sure to visit if I was staying in Edmonton.
Delicious food in a charming environment, the Harvest Room combines modern accents with classic architecture. Situated in the Fairmont Hotel McDonald, the service staff brings with them the trademark customer service that only the Fairmont can provide. Weather permitting you can sit on the patio and enjoy the breathtaking views of the river valley. I typically have breakfast here and enjoy the in house smoked salmon.
Very good! Had breakfast with out hotel room. Nice buffet!
I had breakfat there and the service was great along with the selection of entrees.
banana bread French toast is to die for!!
The Harvest Room is a very beautiful place to have dinner. My wife and I came here last night, the service is impecible the food is very good. Definitely worth checking out if you havent, and even if you have already. My Wife had the bison carpaccio for an appetizer and beef tenderloin for a main. She loved both of them, she even ate the mash potatoes, and she normally isnt a mash potato fan. I had the next level sausage, and it was amazing, with mushrooms and brussels sprouts. I would eat that everyday if I could. To end the night we had the burnt honey icecream. Which was also very delicious. The lighting and the atmosphere is great for couples, and also for small families. But I would recommend it for taking your significant other to.
Food was great (blackened cod, beef back ribs, ginger bread pudding and chocolate crunch) and our waiter was awesome. Very friendly and answered all our questions. Would definitely recommend and would go back as well.
Very nice place to enjoy my dinner last night. I ordered the Beef short rib and a couple sides (Brussel sprouts and mushrooms). The service was great <3 <3
Incredible service. Everything we had off the menu was absolutely amazing. Looking forward to our next date night there
The beef tenderloin was amazing! The service was impeccable. Quite expensive but if you want fine dining and ambiance this is your place.
We went for dinner and were thoroughly impressed with our meals and the service. The restaurant was very strong with seafood. One of us had the lobster chowder which was excellent. The scallops were perfectly prepared. We both had the sablefish and it was sublime. Our server was attentive and very kind. We were seated with a very nice view of the river valley. Highly recommend the restaurant!
Warm and classy. Christmas feeling..
My husband made reservations here for our wedding anniversary. The service was excellent. The food was amazing. I ordered the short rib and my husband had the Lamb. Both were cooked perfectly. Because we were celebrating our anniversary, they served us free chocolate cake. We were so impressed with the food and the service. We visited in November so the lobby was also beautifully decorated with Christmas decorations. They had the giant gingerbread house up. It was so pretty. My hubby and I had a great time. Cant wait to be back again.
Amazing food, great service. Highly recommend.
Very classy environment and good is great here. I went here a couple of times and would recommend this to everyone.
Lovely meal and excellent service for my wife and I on our anniversary. Superb tenderloin and very good rack of lamb. Not cheap but worth it for a treat. Parking sucked at their parkade....computerized payment was recorded as 3 weeks expired and we had a fight to gain entrance to get our car. DO NOT PARK THERE.
Outstanding food and service with attention to detail presentation and flavor combination.
Friendly staff. Delicious food. A bit pricy but worth it. I will go again on the special occasions.
Amazing food and service. This place also has a gorgeous view of the Edmonton River Valley on the terrace. Lovely place to spend an afternoon or really any other time of day.
Great Food with a Great View
I was there for dinner with my husband. Overall it was an alright experience food wise (3/5). Service and atmosphere were decent (4/5). This is not the restaurant you would go to for exciting innovative food. But for a hotel restaurant, it was on the whole decent.
Decided to celebrate our Anniversary here and we had an amazing experience! This restaurant is historic and beautiful, the service (Lelde was our server!) was as good as it gets, and we enjoyed the Beast Board (suggested by our server) and ate every last bite! Definitely recommend this restaurant for any special occasion.
Delicious food, and wonderful service. My husband, and I came here for his birthday, as well as their formal Christmas tea service. The food, and drinks were delicious, and well prepared. During my husbands birthday dinner he did find a hair in his food. However the staff handled it amazingly by immediately apologizing, and offering to comp the meal. The manager also came over almost immediately to see if there was anything more that could be done to make up for the mistake. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who appreciates great food, service, and ambiance.
Ive been to the Harvest Room a few times and all times have been great service. The restaurant is clean with very friendly staff. I have a little toddler, and all times weve been, the staff have been very accommodating and very nice/playful with him.
Best brunch in town. It is expensive but the quality and quantity are worth it.
Wow
Delicious food, fantastic service and wonderful atmosphere! The servers are knowledgeable, polite and courteous. The food you can enjoy here is something you will remember and long to have again. The pork belly is one of my favourites! I highly recommend this place for anniversaries, celebrations or as a place for taking clients too (if you have the money). It is expensive but that is to expected from an establishment such as this. I highly recommend The Harvest Room
Not worth the money
Professional service in a rich Victorian, old world setting. Oak..Brass...Marble. The food is of course fit for Royalty which is why the Queen stayed there on her visit to Edmonton. There is no comparison
We had an excellent meal. We were a party of 6. The service was friendly friendly and attentive. We were half an hour late but they graciously accommodated us. In fact, everyone at the hotel was extremely helpful. My wife has a broken ankle. A wheelchair was quickly provided and she was taken all the way to our table and comfortably seated. The Harvest Room is located in the Fairmont Hotel. Both are beautiful. Highly recommended.
The food was good but the waiter we had was so rude! He said when collecting our plate quote: are you going to lick the plate too? I really should have gotten his name but unfortunately didnt. I think we were treated badly because we came with a groupon(this was years ago) but we still spent $ +100 and tipped the waiter 15%. I would not have tipped him at all for the terrible comment but I felt like he would have raised a fuse and publicly shamed as for it. I really discourage anyone with self respect from dining here as the staff are obviously not trained to observe basic etiquette.
It truly does not get any better - Lelde and the support team made the evening so wonderful. Thank you!
5 stars. Perfect meal experience. Would go back. If youre into fine dining, this is the place to go.
Service is excellent, the food is pretty good. Not quite what I would expect for the level of hotel it is. Definitely need more flavor in the food. While simplicity is nice, it almost bordered on bland. We went for the Fall Harvest menu and the lamb sirloin was actually bland tasting. Not what I expected. It was okay. Jacob was excellent and very attentive. Thank you!
Good quality! A bit pricy though.
Great service and experience.
