Came in for a birthday dinner, and they brought us a free dessert, lovely staff.

We always have a great experience at Guru. The food is delicious. Portions are large and great for sharing. The last time we were there they gave us a complimentary dessert shooter that tasted so good.

Food was fantastic and service was top notch. First time visited this place and definitely worth in every aspect.

Have eaten here several times, recently the standards seem to slip. The naan was thick and doughy in half the order, the chicken was dry and stringy but the worst of all was the coconut rice, there was more coconut then there was rice made everything inedible.

The food here is phenomenal, but the service is not. For context, we were a pre-booked reservation of 7 people for a birthday dinner, and there were only 2-3 other tables seated during our entire dinner (2.5 hours total). We were seated, and it took 15-20 minutes for our server to greet us and take our drink orders. Once the drinks started arriving, there was another 15 minute gap between the first and last drinks coming to the table. The food came out and we were missing a dish, but the server didn t came back, until we were finished eating. During the course of our dinner, we weren t checked on, and did not get any drink or water refills. Once we were finished and the table was cleared, it took 45 minutes and us asking multiple times to get the bill. We advised our server that the bills would need to be separated at the beginning, but he had a hard time doing so and we had to pay one bill. As we were a table of 7, we had a built in tip of 20% which none of us would have tipped otherwise. Honestly, I ll only be ordering take out from here moving forward.

Manoj provided great customer service, the chef Kuhsro made amazing food and Parth s service was great as well and overall the staff is super accommodating and friendly!!

I am updating this Google review of GURU Restaurant. The manager gave us a gift certificate to return in the hopes of having a better experience. We did return this past weekend and had an amazing dinner with amazing service. The food was exceptional! Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Thank you for the wonderful dinner, we will be back!! We usually love GURU. We made reservations for Valentines Day for a special set menu. When we arrived the restaurant was not busy at all. We were seated in the back section-and were the only table in our area. It took about 10 minutes for the server to come to our table. We ordered our dinner as well as another dish and a few drinks. The host brought out our dishes. Our server did not order our extra dish, so the host ordered it for us. The food was good, a bit sparse, and on the cool side, but still yummy. The waitress did not check on how our food was. She did not clear our many dirty plates, and brought our dessert to us, putting it in the middle of all of the dirty dishes. We were only seated at a table for two, so there was very little room for the abundance of dishes. After about 15 minutes of our server and the host, going back and forth by our table not taking our dirty dishes, we finally asked who we think was the manager, to clear our dirty dishes so that we could enjoy our dessert. A few minutes later he returned and took most, with another server coming to take the last dirty dish. Four tables in our section had dirty dishes on them, with two other tables being served dessert with a table full of dirty dishes. Our bill was incorrectly priced also. The service at Guru used to be amazing-with food to match, no matter how busy it was-and has always been one of our most favourite restaurants. We were more than disappointed with the service tonight, on Valentine s Day. We will not be returning based on our experience tonight. There are many amazing Indian cuisine restaurants with both phenomenal service and food close to home. We will happily take our business there.

I hate to slag on a restaurant, but Im sorry, the dal makhani I got here was the worst version of dal makhani I ever had. It had a non lentil texture that was very different from what Im accustomed to, having ordered this dish more times than I can remember all over the states. And even more disturbing was the fact that it was sweet. In fact, the rice was sweet, AND even the garlic naan was sweet also. I dont understand Indian food being sweet at-all.

they serve the best butter chicken in town. been going there for the last 8 years and the quality hasnt changed a bit. Love their garlic naans. Aloo tikki chaat is good too. Butter chicken and shahi paneer paninis are pretty flavourful . Also the chicken panini is good too. also service is very good and place is very neat & clean. Recently tried their butter chicken and paneer lunch serving options. Pretty good quantity and taste as always was great. Must try.

So good! The food was absolutely delicious. We got the butter chicken, the chickpea dish (forget the exact name), and the fish moilee + rice and naan. Everything was amazing. We were served by Drishti and she was so nice! 10/10 food and 10/10 service.

One of the worst experience at an Indian restaurant we had so far. The service was abysmal and food was bang average. Food was served after an hour of ordering even though the restaurant was not busy at all. Would not recommend

We went to this restaurant after we made a reservation there. Food was average but service of the restaurant was the worst experience ever. Never got water on table we had to ask for it. After our appetizer and drinks which took them 45 mins to ready we ordered main meal they took hour and half and brought half order on the table. When we were half done they brought rest of the order on the table. Had to ask to clear the table , had to ask for water, napkins , never got spoons to eat. I would give them zero review if I could for service. Will never go back again

The restaurant has beautiful interior. The food is fusion version of Indian food, not authentic. If you like fusion food, then it s a great place to visit. Staff was friendly and customer service was great. The only disappointment was mango lassi. Mango lassi was far from real mango lassi. It was just mango rass pored over thick yogurt. Not mixed properly and wasn t sweet enough as not enough mango added into it. I would go again with Caucasian friends who can t handle spicy food or go when in mood to try fusion version.

Visited here for dinner last night. Food was average not as good as we were expecting. And service was also impolite. The guy at the front was not welcoming, we felt like he was frustrated from the work. No respond back even when we said thank you. Staff has kind of attitude.

Our family always ordered take out from this location and yesterday we decided to eat in for our anniversary. The service was above and beyond! And the food, which has always been so good, was even more amazing during the dine in experience. We got the butter chicken, the lamb curry and naan. So delicious! The servers were great to talk with and the manager was knowledgeable, generous and so helpful. The whole restaurant staff made the evening beautiful! One of the good and fine dining restaurant in Edmonton. MUST TRY Wonderful Ambience, good and flavourful aromas. We had old style dal makhni, butter chicken in the main course with garlic naan. To start with , garlic naan was very delicious as opposed to many restaurant where bread is just a piece of flour. U will get the taste of garlic in naan which was superb. Dal makhni, I have tried at a lot at many places but trust me u will get to taste authentic dal makhni. We also ordered Bollywood drama drink, it was very smooth fine gin with refreshing taste. Delicious cuisine, cozy atmosphere, and top-notch service a Canadian dining gem

I recently visited Guru Restaurant and Bar Edmonton for second time after a veey good first experince a year ago and had a mixed experience this time .The service was okay, nothing exceptional but friendly enough. However, the food quality was a letdown, particularly the chaat which didnt meet my expectations. As someone whos had their fair share of Indian cuisine, I was disappointed that the flavors and textures didnt quite hit the mark.

Our go to place when we are in Edmonton and want Indian food. Staff was understaffed when we were there and felt bad for how much running around they were doing, but they kept service at a top notch level despite that. Indian poutine and the cauliflower bites blew mind they were so good. Chickpea fries are now on the menu to try and make at home because of Guru s!!!

We went here for dinner and it was amazing. I am vegetarian, and my husband is gluten-free, and this restaurant had so many options for us that it was hard to pick. Our server knew the menu like the back of her hand, she answered all of our dietary questions and offered some delicious choices. Highly recommend! Went there yesterday with my sister and my husband . First I think they were short staffed and busyI get it . It was Father s Day and Eid . The food yesterday was not upto the quality they usually serve The Cauliflower 65 was too saucy and cold The paneer tikka was cold The butter chicken sauce was hot/warm but the chicken pieces were cold and dry The dal makhani had no salt I have been to this restaurant quite a few times and yesterday was not it .

Went there at 9 pm on Thursday and it was close even though the sign said open till 10 pm. Called them and they said doing only take outs. Should mentioned that on ypur website so people dont drive from far end of the city

Guru Restaurant in Edmonton offers delicious food with generous portions, which is definitely a plus. However, as a vegetarian, I found the menu options lacking variety. While the dishes I tried were enjoyable, the limited choices for vegetarians left me wishing for more variety. Additionally, the portion sizes, while sizable, were notably larger compared to other restaurants, which may not suit everyones appetite.

I visited tonight with my family totally disappointed as they said you guys are 8 so we will charge extra 20% of your bill it is our restaurant policy i didn t see any logic behind it i think we should avoid this place first we will order food then we will pay tops then we will have to pay 20% ??? Very nice place, food was delicious, place wasnt very busy at lunch time surprisingly. Great spot for Indian food on the west end. We ordered Nana and roti without butter or oil for the first time, will be doing that from now on. Not as heavy and just as delicious. There chai masala is delicious! Must order.

A good place for Indian cuisine, but not great. Portions were very generous. For both the chicken and beef entrees, the meat was overcooked and not tender. The vegetable dish was above average. The service was very friendly and attentive. The environment was too formal. We prefer a more relaxed atmosphere.

Guru is my all-time favorite place for special occasions. The food is best and authentic. I love the garlic chutney. My each visit is more special than the previous one at Guru.

This is the worst service Ive ever experienced! I typically dont leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share my disappointment. We spent $200, and the service was appalling. It was my sisters birthday, and our evening was completely ruined by the staff. This was my first time trying this restaurant, and the server was incredibly rude, even making unpleasant faces. It felt like we were being racially profiled. Thank you for ruining our evening and my sisters birthday!

Had to adjust my review because we hadnt been here since before Covid, and this has changed, not for the better. The Guru used to have the best samosas in town, but unfortunately, they have suffered from shrink-flation and are now 1/2 the original size, but the same price. Portions have also shrunk, but not to the same extent. The combination of these things and the fact that there are some new restaurants that offer the same, or better, quality food, means that the Guru is overpriced for what it delivers.

By far the best fusion Indian cuisine that we have been to in Edmonton. The ambience and service(Sushant,hope I got his name correct)was par excellence. The food tasted aptly spiced and perfect portions. One of those rare occasions when everyone in the family loved every single dish they ordered. The main highlights were the butter chicken samosas, fusion poutine, the butter chicken and the delicious cocktails. Definitely will visit again and specially a great place to entertain guests. The table arrangements and subtle music gives it a fine dining experience. The plating and garnishes on the dish were apt. Kudos to the chef and the management. Super experience as Guru takes their delicious modern spins on Indian favorites to downtown Edmonton. The food is amazing! The service from our direct server was incredible. The other staff seemed to be somewhat cooler. They even seemed surprised that we arrived on a quiet night that the Oilers were in town even though had reservations. They also were mopping the floors around us as we ate... Nevertheless, the space is beautiful. And we had a lovely experience. We will definitely be back!

Exceptional dining experience. This is, by far the best Indian food we have tasted! It was obviously prepared by a Master chef with an incredible team. The presentation was what you would expect in a 5-star + restaurant. We were there at 4:30 before the supper hour and received our food very quickly. From the moment we entered until we left we were impressed by the service. Our server, Christie was very knowledgeable and assisted us in selecting the perfect dishes and portions. The butter chicken was melt in your mouth tender, with a perfect balance of spice and creaminess. The portion was very generous and was enough for the three of us. The saffron rice was cooked to perfection and one portion was enough for two very hungry or three average appetites. The stone baked butter naan bread was incredible light and fluffy. One piece was enough for three. We also had the vegetable samosas. These are prepared in-house and have a very generous portion of tasty vegetable mixture with a tender, just right crispy crust. The chairs were comfortable and tables placed to allow for easy movement between them. The music was lovely and enhanced the Indian experience. The lighting was perfect for intimate dining but also appropriate for families. Considering the portion size and including non-alcoholic drinks, with tip came to $25 per person. Incredibly inexpensive considering the quality! We were even impressed with the foil bag for our naan bread and microwaveable plastic contains with secure tops and a bag to carry our remaining food home. A big thank you to the Chef and his team, Christie and the host for a wonderful dining experience we will be repeating often. All the best to you and your loved ones for 2023!

Take out butter chicken and paneer lunch meals were not good. Edible but small portions and synthetic, manufactured tasting for 25$ a meal.

We went for lunch. The service was excellent. The food was pretty good. We had shrimp Pakora which was amazing!! The mango chicken was alright. A bit sweet for my taste but well prepared and still good. I also had a Bombay Breeze cocktail and it was the highlight! So delicious and a well balanced cocktail! Warning to celiacs/gluten intolerant diners. They were very allergen friendly and cautious - that said my celiac husband got violently ill 2 hrs after eating there. We ate the same thing so I dont believe it was the food being bad or anything like that. It was either a kitchen mix up, cross contamination or the shared fryers. (He has been totally fine to eat from shared fryers but maybe he is getting more sensitive?) Either way I share this for other celiacs to just be aware. Dietary restrictions: They have a separate allergy menu which was helpful!

My daughter and I received superb service from Emily, waitress , She is excellent in providing superb service to all their customers , She has very good listening skills, she is cheerful, she is walking extra miles to provide the best service to the customer who walks in. As far as the menu is concerned, it has lot of items to choose from. I highly recommend Guru to anybody who appreciates Indian cuisine. I wish Kenneth , Emily and the cooks the best in 2023.

Excellent food, courteous and friendly staff. We used to dine in, but now mostly order take out from here. Its always prepared beautifully, and with attention to detail, whether you choose to dine in or take out.

Honestly for the price of these meals I wasnt impressed. Coconut shrimp didnt even taste like there was coconut, plus the shell was still on. Mango chicken tasted less flavorful then other places Ive been. Butter Chicken was dry. Naan was mid. The best thing I had was the Guru Shooter. Their chai was also not bad. Atmosphere was lovely though, you can tell how much effort and care was put into it. And service was excellent.

Ambiance is so nice. But its not quite place. Food is good as its not typical dishes. They did a good fusion. Overall very good experience. Cocktails are good too. We ordered food for 4 people it was more than enough. $180 bill. Not bed at all. We had such a wonderful time. Love it. Good with family friends. You can more enjoy .

Good lord I finally feel like I ve found a perfect place for East Indian cuisine! The mango lassi was thick, flavourful, and came with a beautiful presentation. It is a drink, but they set the bar with it. Naan and roti arrived and it is fresh, soft inside and browned and crunchy outside. Like it is supposed to be, but usually isn t at other restaurants. Guru nailed it perfectly. None of this is the star. The butter chicken arrived. OH MY. I have no words. Let me try: It was rich, thick, and creamy. Taste was so intense that I actually gasped. I ve had, what I thought was great butter chicken before, but the bar I had set was so wrong and is now set properly. This is the first time I ve had butter chicken and didn t go after the chicken pieces. I just dipped naan and ate. Over and over. Bliss. To be fair, I tried a couple of pieces of chicken and they were perfectly tender and juicy. Sauce made them incredible. But the sauce. The butter chicken sauce. <no words are good enough here> You simply must come here and try this place. This is not optional. You must. I live in the Northwest Territories and this is the strongest reason that I ll visit Edmonton regularly. This place is amazing. The waitress was so friendly and helpful. Smiles were welcome. I d hurt my wrist and the manager expressed concern and asked if he could do anything. Wow! I will be back. For sure. More then once in the future.

Visited this place to eat a bit before exploring West Ed Mall for our 6-man road trip. A really kind server checked often and was very considerate providing us a great selection of recommendations, size comparisons for portions and even offered to snap us a picture alongside our food. Coconut and regular rice was cooked immaculately. Amazingly fluffy and not mushy at all. I dont remember the other mains we had other than the mango chicken but there was a lamb and fish main that was great as well with naan. Vegetarian options: Lots of V and gluten-free options

We ordered our food and it made us feel really good because it was so delicious. The service we received was excellent. We got paneer butter masala, panner tikka, and coconut naan, and they all tasted really good.

Stopped for some Dinner today. Food was very good, Definitely recommend the Butter chicken and Curry Chicken dishes. The staff was very friendly with showing lots of attention towards serving their guests. Visited This location at around 9pm. The Restaurant Was very quiet and definitely had a lot of open Tables and parking available . The only thing that I wasn t the biggest fan of was ordering rice and naan separately, also the naan was a little pricey approximately 30$ for a basket or 8$ per piece. Overall I had a great dinner. I ordered skip the dishes and they charged $25 for butter chicken with no rice or naan bread. Last time I ordered it came as a meal. Will not be ordering again.

Great food. Servers are amazing. Kenny and Sushant , you guys are awesome. Even the kitchen staff (Khush and his team deserve a shoutout) are so nice to talk to. Special mention to the expo, who seems very knowledgeable on the menu. The crowd coming to the restaurant could be better.

This is the best indian food in Edmonton. My Wife and I just enjoyed mango chicken, garlic naan and a califlower veg. dish, that I cant remember name of? Food coma? So much EXCELLENT food. Kenny is an amazing and gracious host. Will return very soon.

Honestly Saying, food was good. But the prices are way too high. Ordered two Naan s for 18 bucks, I mean expensive!!! Also, I found very less variety of asian food. Vegetarian options were less. Overall okayish experience.

Took a friend there for a birthday lunch, the server was so helpful and friendly! The food had huge portions and was so tasty!

Heard only the best so had to check it out for myself. Was just blown away with their amazing food, cocktails (old fashion) and exceptional service. This place is easily one of the best dining experiences in Edmonton. Enjoy!!!

We tried the food last night it was soooo bad .Naan was all burned.goat curry was no good at all. And prices are too high.dont recommen to anyone.also we put the food outside there door so they can relized how much coustmer was upset to see the dinner. These people just want to make money sure you make thats what the business for but make sure to give quality to coustmer as well.

All the way from Prince George, nice service, Osm food. Sushant gave us a memorable service such a nice staff . Will recommend it if you are new to the town.

We had a private party on October 27,2023 at Guru west end location. We were extremely happy with food and services Your Executive Chef Suman Sarkar, Gen.Manager Gurjeet Khaira and your Bar Tender their service was absolutely excellent. We as a host and our guests all enjoyed the food ambiance of the place. We recommend Guru as the best Indian Restaurant in Edmonton.

We went on a weekday, close to 9 pm, only couple of tables were occupied. Service is quite good, the server helped us in selecting drinks, came to check on us several times. There is a separate vegan menu which is basically modification in vegetarian menu. The server could not give details of couple of dishes we enquired about, I ended up ordering vegetable vindaloo for vegan dish. Food was underwhelming, vindaloo had thin consistency and had just a few pieces of vegetable in bowl full of gravy, does not justify $25 price point. House salad was just a plate full of onion with few green chillies. Paneer in butter paneer was soft but again paneer pieces were few. Tandoori roti was very soft and good. It is nice that they have separate vegan menu but I wish the food tasted better too.

Most Delicious Food Pinocchio pizza and burger in Edmonton. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends as well nice aura and staff was so stunning and friendly.
