Violino occupies a 1913 Mansion located in High Street, Glenora ,a stylish and well established neighbourhood surrounded by beautiful mature trees, mansions, and lush flower gardens. The interior features of the restaurant invite Italian design, and show the warmth of a fine Italian eatery. Elegant dark wood, expansive windows and granite give the space a classical yet contemporary Italian look and feel. There are two private dining rooms, a private veranda on the second floor as well as a large veranda on the main floor featuring a wood fired oven.Elegant restaurant located in downtown, perfect for intimate gatherings and business meetings to spectacular events, you will enjoy the incredible service and food in sophisticated Italian oasis.
I took my wife to Violino Ristorante yesterday to celebrate her birthday, and it was a perfect experience. Housed in a stunning historic home built in 1913, the restaurant’s atmosphere was warm, elegant, and ideal for a special occasion. The food was incredible; every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavour. The service was impeccable, with attentive and thoughtful staff who made the evening truly memorable. Violino Ristorante is a standout dining experience in Edmonton, and I highly recommend it. Five stars!
Went over for casual date night with husband. I ordered Linguini Negro Blanco which was to die for! Sambuca sauce is really smooth, delicious. Happy with it! Avogato was so good. Husband happy with his too. Server was great. This cozy restaurant is reminded me of Italy atmosphere 🇮🇹 really enjoy this. Will be back for sure.
What a beautiful dining experience! The food was top tier, the service unbelievable, and everything was perfect. The building is an fashioned home, and the environment suits the type of food served. We will DEFINITELY be going again. The steak was cooked to perfection and the desserts were absolutely delicious.
We had girls night and what a wonderful night! This is now one of my favourite restaurants. The food was outstanding! Our waiter was wonderful. I am in love with the restaurant and next month we will be back but this time with our family. Thank you.
Thank you for your hospitality!! ❤️ You have made our wedding anniversary a special and memorable one. Everything was delicious and wonderful. Thia will be one of the most pleasant memories of our holiday in Canada 🇨🇦
Absolutely phenomenal food and service. My wife and I decided to go as part of our anniversary weekend. She had the Arancini and the House Fettucine, which was flambed in a cheese wheel at the table side, and I had the calamari and the stuffed chicken breast. We split the ceasar salad. Everything was a 10/10. Service, flawless. Food, perfection. The Desert, mouthwatering.
When you first walk into the 1900s home converted into a restaurant, you immediately feel the warm and welcoming atmosphere. You are seated at an elegant dining table complete with beautiful place settings and fresh crisp linens. Our hostess, Eugenia was welcoming and our server Joan was attentive and friendly. Joan was always ready with a drink top up and a smile that lends to an enjoyable and positive dining experience. For my starter, I enjoyed the delicious mushroom soup. The serving was plentiful as a starter and was warm and comforting. I could eat this everyday. My entree was the Violino renowned Flambe Fettuccine Alfredo. Eugenia tossed the chicken fettuccine into an aged asiago cheese wheel. Her mastery of tableside service is appreciated. Since this was a birthday meal, I told Joan I was having difficulty choosing 1 of the amazing in-house crafted dessert delicacies. In the end Joan brought my 3 favourite desserts. Tiramisu, Bread Pudding and Creme Brulee. All three desserts were amazing and everyone was able to enjoy the 3 desserts. When I recommend an Italian restaurant going forward, it will be Violino Ristorante. Thank you for an amazing dining experience. Grazie, Ryan
A magnificent restaurant, of true European level, excellent cuisine and friendly staff. This is exactly what I have been looking for in Edmonton for a long time. Very cozy, pleasant atmosphere and large selection of dishes. Everything was very tasty and beautifully presented. I will definitely come back here again
Had a family event here on the weekend, everyone has been sending me kudos for choice. Have to say I chose well but the staff and food deserve the credit. Great service and delicious food, beyond expectations.
Amazing food, service, and atmosphere.
My husband and I dined with a friend (and his wife ) who happens to be a seasoned chef himself he highly recommended the place food was excellent; best SurfnTurf I ve had by far
Had dinner with a friend, and it was an amazing experience. the food was really good! service was great and great atmosphere! totally recommend and Ill return.
House smells musty. Food is absolutely disgusting for the price. Poorly cooked, unseasoned, and ridiculously expensive. Not worth it at all. So many other better Italian restaurants in the city.
Absolutely amazing food! The atmosphere felt warm and comfortable, definitely will be recommending/coming back soon!
My girlfriend took me here for my 18th birthday and everything was absolutely phenomenal. The service was wonderful, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Definitely coming back soon!
was here on the weekend wit my grandpa it was packed but servers were amazingly accommodating And I love that they came around and refilled our water multiple times and the food was delicious great job everyone thank you so much
Cute and cozy little place off 124 st. An older house converted to a restaurant it seems. Charming service and romantic atmosphere. Parking: Free parking but very few spots. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp up front steps to get into restaurant
Seriously the best Italian restaurant we have ever been to! We were here in October and couldnt wait to come back...... And we we definitely be back again Thank you to Eugenia for amazing service!!
We had a romantic dinner for two. Our table was ready (reserved before and recommend for you) the decor is what I am used from Europe. Nice, comfortable and authentic. Food was very good and service attentive. Recommend for a nice night out. Dress casual or formal so are the prices. Enjoy
Delicious food. Was exceptional.
My boyfriend took me out after getting some awful news from the doctor. He knew this was my fav spot. Our waiter was so busy chatting up another table behind us that he didnt even acknowledge us. I was about to leave as he came over to finally take our order. I ordered my steak medium rare it came out well done, needless to say I had one bite of it as I never got a knife with my plate. The waiter never even followed up to see how our meal was. We waved him back from his table of visiting friends to get the bill. He now sees I ate everything but the steak and asked how it was. I explained I ordered it medium rare. He takes my plate while my boyfriend is paying comes back and says they are making you a new steak. Are you serious now. No thanks my boyfriend is done eating, Im starving from only having veggies and super angry now with the service its a little late from visiting to do your job. A 10 year customer was lost that night.
Reason for visit...We were really looking forward to our time tonight. We celebrated a milestone birthday. Vibe and service... The place has a really nice vibe, and the patio was lovely. It was clean and well laid out. The front of house staff was very friendly and helped make our time pleasant. Our waiter, however, was very disinterested in us and abandoned us. As a result, we didnt choose to stay and eat any entrees. We only ended up staying for appetizers, drinks, and a dessert. Food...We ordered one of the charcuterie boards. We were disappointed with the quality and presentation. I would not recommend it, and I would have been embarrassed to serve it. We had a lobster dip dish, and it was much nicer but not inspred in any way. Sadly, the ingredients seemed to be of a lower quality, and there were no redeeming attributes. Also, I personally do not like eating off of plastic plates (odd choice). Overall, I generally try to always give great reviews and support local, but tonight, I was not able to. Hope this helps.
Parking: there are limited parking that is for the complex or street parking depending on the time of day so plan ahead. Food
When out with my folks for dinner here, we ll all ordered something different, everything was stellar, the food was well cooked and seasoned to perfection, our server was extremely kind, and checked in on us just enough. When she learned why we were there she brought us an extra and free dessert. Will definitely be returning in the future.
Violino Ristorante: A Romantic Evening with Delicious Food Violino Ristorante was the perfect choice for a special date night. The atmosphere was incredibly inviting, with soft lighting and elegant décor. It created a truly romantic ambiance. While the service was a bit slower than expected, it didnt detract from our overall experience. The food, however, was absolutely fantastic. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. We were particularly impressed with the [mention a specific dish you enjoyed]. If youre looking for a memorable dining experience, Violino Ristorante is definitely worth a visit.
Delicious
Enjoyed an awesome dinner with friends upstairs in private diningroom. We all loved the preplanned dinner menu. We got help with wine selections prior to guests arriving. . Service was very good. Yummy, yummy, yummy food every course.
Best osso bucco Ive ever had. Literally. So tender. Had lobster dip as well. Fantastico. Highly recommend. Diamond in the rough
Service was very slow which was bizarre because the restaurant wasn t that busy. Food took forever to arrive and people who had gotten there way after us were being served first. Waitress didn t seem to care and would disappear for long periods of time.
Today was the third time I have come to violinos to eat. Ive had the arancini, fettucini (made in the asiago cheese wheel), and the lasagna. The food has always been delicious which reflects the price point, but has always left me satisfied with the portions. The atmosphere inside is a bit tight but cozy and lovely, outside on their deck it was lovely and well kept. The biggest selling point of this restaurant is the service. Our servers name is Jesser(? Apologies if I spelled that incorrectly), but he was lovely, attentive and made our experience one of the best weve had eating in Edmonton. Violinos hits all the major points of food, atmosphere, and especially service. To the management of violinos please show appreciation and recognition for your front staff as they are amazing. Thank you Jesser for your amazing and high quality service!
Very nice food, delicious, very good service by waiters ( David )
My husband I decided to go for dinner at this resturant after a very long time. Food was amazing but service not so good. Our waitress was not professional at all. Couple sitting beside us asked to sit inside due to bees and him being allergic to bees she put them right beside the door inside and kept the door open. They later asked to have their meals to go. With us she kept reacing over the small take for the wine instead of place it on the stand by the table. We orderered water bottles the bubbly one and she pored half a glass each and took the bottle inside and never brought it out while we saw other tables had their water bottle on their table. Like I said we went after 10 years and food is was and always amazing. Thanks!
Wonderful evening on patio with great service and delicious food!
Food was great, the arancini and Ferrero molten cake were divine. Eugenia was our waitress and we couldnt have asked for a nicer, more attentive server. She asked if we were celebrating something and when we said it was our anniversary she brought us a tiramisu (also amazing) which was so sweet. We loved our evening and will certainly go back.
My husband and I came here for a date night and we couldn t have been more impressed. Situated inside a historic home in the beautiful area of Glenora, this gem is filled with romance and intrigue. We were taken upstairs to a private room by a lovely staff member, where the ambiance was nothing short of serenity. Every item we had contained a burst of flavour, but the showstopper is the fettuccine made in a vodka flambé, asiago cheese wheel. This is a must have. The surf and turf special was also a hit, with every item taking centre stage in tastefulness. The caesar salad was unique and rich in texture. We finished off with a crème brûlée that was delightful and light. Overall, our experience was enhanced by Eugenia, who was absolutely lovely and very personable. She guided us through the menu and put on a great show with the flambé vodka inside the asiago cheese wheel. We loved every bite of everything we had and ever since we left, I m still craving the fettuccine. Perfect vibe for a date night in the city.
Food was excellent. The pasta special featured perfectly cooked scallops, mussels, and shrimp that tasted fresh. The sauce was tasty and the pasta al dente. Unfortunately service was poor. They brought the wrong salad and left so quickly we didn t have time to tell them before they disappeared. Same thing happened when they brought entree and forgot the wine. The table next to us had a different waiter and he seemed excellent. Atmosphere was OK. Patio chairs were not comfortable and my menu was stained (gross). Overall I think it is too expensive for the quality of service I received.
Went here a few days ago for dinner to celebrate a birthday with my boyfriend and our experience here was subpar. The food was average at best, our server was nice but not very attentive and seemed unhappy to be serving us. Being people of colour we did not feel very welcomed by staff or by those surrounding us. Overall we felt quite uncomfortable the entire time we were there. If you are a person of colour, I would not recommend going unless you want to be silently judged and stared at.
I brought my wife here for her birthday yesterday. I had the rigatoni special, she had the beef tenderloin. I cant even remember the last time I had a better experience. Everything was PERFECT. The drinks, the food, the service, all perfect. What an extraordinary experience, thank you!
Very very unprofessional service. Not recommended.
In my opinion, one of the best restaurants in Edmonton.
For a beautiful, romantic evening, this is the spot. My only gripe is that everything is rather overpriced. Whether the cost is attributed to the location, supply chain stagnation, or general greed that remains unseen. That being said, the waitress was wonderful, ambiance warm, and food fresh. Expect to hear something from the Rat pack during your visit. I do plan on visiting again. Parking: On a weekend parking may be more sparce, however we had no issues during the week.
It is a mature, classy restaurant with a beautiful atmosphere for a date night. Good food, especially if you love cheese like me.
The food and atmosphere are superb. Definitely a special date night spot.
Went there to celebrate our sons grad. Really impressed with the quality of food and service. Will be back.
Excellent service, absolutely delicious food, generous portions, and a beautiful atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be back again!
Best Italian in Alberta
Great service and atmosphere. The food was scrumptious. This was the best veal parmigiana I ve ever had. The sauce and cheese was great- the actual veal chop was huge and very flavourful. Soup was amazing as well. Great experience.
Without a doubt the most enjoyable dining experience Ive ever had. The food was some of the best Ive ever experienced and the atmosphere was not distracting. Just pure solid enjoyment all around.
I would compare this meal to the highest choir of angels. I conducted it with my fork between bites
It seems we find a hidden gem . The service is 5stars. We booked for 6pm but we come at 4:30pm and they welcome us right away. Romantic place and definitely will come again. Wait, you should try their special house Fettuccine.
I brought my wife here for a much needed date night. The best surf and turf i ever had. The wife had there home made sea food fettucini and it was also amazing serivice was great not pushy or over bearing at all. Atmosphere was perfect.
My husband and I came Here in the midst of having problems & this place seriously made me fall back in love with him again. The food, the atmosphere the incredible service and the reasonable prices for top quality food. Not to mention the comfortable seating and the Table napkins LAPKINS thanks for having us violina. We will be back!!!!
TERRIBLE experience from the moment we stepped in. It took 20 minutes just for us to even get our water while all the tables around us got everything before despite coming in after us. Our server Adrian was extremely rude and never checked in on us. I found a bone and a hair in my pasta and she still tried to make me pay for it, and when I asked for it to taken off my bill she gave me an attitude. All around it was a terrible experience with disrespect from the moment we stepped in, I will never be coming back.
Location and ambiance is excellent. The service has really improved since I was here 10 years ago. I had an empty glass of water for 10 min. The food was very good though. The portions are decent, no need for appetizers. The waiters never smile though.
Charming dining room with lovely service.
Absolutely delicious, my new favorite place. Ordered the Veal Parm which was to die for. Next level. Wife ordered the Halibut, delicious. Also ordered the risotto I loved it, but what was really interesting is the wife who dislikes risotto loved it as well. Will be back. Dietary restrictions: My wife has about 7 million allergies and they were very patient and ensured their food was safe for her.
Historical place, this has been around for a few decades now. Excellent food and service. This is a must do for any special occasion.
I love that this restaurant is inside a character home. It has nice tucked away tables for a quiet romantic evening. Also big enough for large parties. They have an outdoor patio for the summer. The food won t disappoint. A show stopper is the fettuccine that is prepared table side. They melt the cheese in a Parmesan wheel and add your pasta and toss it. Delicious!
Weve had dinner here on a couple of occasions. Both times, we experienced attentive service and enjoyed the reasonably priced, well plated, delicious food. Ive posted a couple of photos of the surf and turf special, which is by far the favorite that keeps me coming back and has the best melt in your mouth steak (well, almost melt in your mouth!)
My bf and I had our 1 year anniversary and decided to celebrate by having dinner here. This was a lovely experience. The atmosphere was amazing as it was in a house/mansion, so very cozy feeling, and we came at a good time where there wasn t a lot of people dining just yet. Only con was that we were sat a dark table, I think a little candle would have been good. But, very private and romantic. We started with the arancini which was perfect. For the entree I had the iconic fettuccine that is tossed in a giant cheese wheel, tasted delicious, and my bf got the butternut squash ravioli which he also thought was delicious. Service was quick but not too quick where we overlapped appetizers with entrees, and we got a free dessert with our meal which was very generous. Great dining experience. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion.
Lovely atmosphere without the pretentious. Seems like a great team and the food is ridiculously good . Thank you very much . We will be back !!! Food
Food was eh service was alright Ruth Chris blows this place out of the water they are serving 2-3star food at 5 star prices would choose the olive garden over this place
Went there for Valentines. I had to send back two plates Velt was all burnt the other main they had to remake which was a pulled pork buildings nice services all right but food is like two star but they charge you five star prices. I ve been to many five star restaurants and this is definitely not one if you wanna go nice five star or even a four star restaurant go to Chris Ruth steakhouse if you re feeling for Italian go to Olive Garden and might not be the nice fancy atmosphere but at least the food is better than here. Definitely if you re gonna spend five $600 for a night out spend it somewhere else I don t mind spending $600-$1000 for supper but definitely not at this place.
My boyfriend made reservations for our anniversary a couple months back. Due to unforeseen circumstances we were not able to attend. We were finally able to make another reservation just because; our server remembered he had booked us back for our anniversary. It was definitely special. Thank you so very much!
Would highly recommend and will be visiting again. Food was amazing and service was 10/10! Lost a star for atmosphere because we sat by a window and there was a very cold draft. But other than that, the vibe was great.
Amazing place, everything was sooo delicious! Service is great, like in European restaurants complimentary we got some fresh bread with olive oil dip. Warm atmosphere, everything is just great!
Last night we were celebrating my husband s and best friends birthday. There was seven of us. The ambiance is cozy and warm. I felt the food was just okay and very overpriced for pasta. What was really disappointing was they only brought one desert out , when there were Two birthdays being celebrated. I also do not appreciate that we had to pay a 20 percent gratuity. I don t think we will go back.
We went here for a friends birthday. We started with a reservation for 3 but they easily accomodated an extra person on short notice. Parking is available but there was only one spot left when we arrived. The hostess sat us and then reviewed the specials. The head waiter arrived shortly after and reviewed the specials. After a little wait we ordered our meals. A bread plate was offered with a nice balsamic vinegar and oil. When the Ravioli alla Zucca arrived I mistook it for the Zuppa I had ordered. Zuppa and Zucca sound similar when you are not used to hearing Italian. Alas, it was not my Zuppa. The Surf And Turf and Agnello with a side of Sea Scallops also arrived. My wife and I were going to share the lamb and added scallops to round out the order. The food quality was fantastic. We followed the main course with 3 desserts and a coffee for me. The host offered an extra complimentary Tiramisu for the birthday boy. The desserts were delicious too. The overall dining experience was a little off. The main floor room was a little cramped for my comfort. The photos online must have been taken upstairs. The service was a little awkward and poorly paced. The Zuppa I ordered never arrived but it did appear on the bill. When I noted the problem the head waiter had it removed and then dodged responsibility. Little complimentary cookies also came with the bill. There were no specific service problems other than the missing Zuppa but nothing seemed to happen smoothly. Some restaurants have staff who have clearly developed an efficient flow, this group seemed to be out of step with each other today. A gratuity of 20% is applied to parties of 6 or more. Suggested gratuities range from 18% to 25%. This is an excellent restaurant if you are willing to pay a little bit more and are not too concerned with recieving perfection from the servers. Parking: The free parking lot is limited to about 22 stalls.
We celebrated my daughters birthday here. Great atmosphere. The food was fantastic.
We came here for dinner for the first time, to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. The food and service were excellent. Thank you to our waitress for her kindness and bringing us a special anniversary dessert :)
This place was Amazing. Went there for Our Anniversary. The food was awesome, service impeccable, would be great place to eat in the summer they have a patio! They even gave us an extra dessert for our Anniversary! Thanks will be back!
Such a cozy romantic little Italian restaurant. My hubby and I recently ate here and it was amazing! The fettuccine alfredo flambed in a cheese wheel was a very nice touch and was probably the best alfredo weve ever had. The rest of the food was done to perfection as well. Everything was perfect from the staff, ambiance, music, to the food. Will definitely recommend!
All 4 of us agreed Food and service was impeccable!
The food was good, but there were not many options for people who dont like seafood or shellfish. Ended up going for the pasta that gets tossed in the flaming cheese wheel. Was good, but definitely not $40 a plate good.
We would like to express our deepest appreciation for the incredible evening/civil marriage event. The private room for 10 was set up for us. The food was great and service was excellent. Our best wishes to the staff and management ! Iryna and Jamie
Very nice venue for special occasions if restaurant atmosphere is top priority for you. The food can be a hit and miss depending on what you order. Their Penne Pollo and Aragosta Risotto are excellent, but their Calamari Fritti and their Halibut were disappointing when we tried them (certainly not worth the cost). Halibut from Sabor is much better. Service was OK.
One of the foremost Italian Restaurants in Edmonton. Beautiful ambiance, classy place. Great portion sizes, and delicious cuisine. Always look forward to returning. Staff is wonderful. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp, well equipped bathroom, wide enough hallways to accommodate walkers and wheelchairs. There is seating upstairs, be certain to clarify your restrictions upon booking reservations.
This is an amazing, classy, comfortable restaurant. Lovely seating and decor. Cushioned high back chairs, warm lighting, and traditional styling will make you feel youve arrived to an elegant and exclusive banquet. The staff were extremely polite, knowledgeable and accommodating for our large group. Food was served in courses and everything tasted delicious. We had a great meat and vegetable charcuterie platter to start, followed by soup or salad (I recommemd the soup), then our mains of steak or stuffed chicken with accompaniments. Finally we had tiramisu and cappuccino. Wonderful wine selection, as well as cocktails and beer. Easily one of the top restaurants in Edmonton. Make a reservation, you wont regret it.
The pasta I ordered was delicious, Id say 4 star though it wasnt worth $36, Id say $25. However, my husbands pasta was bland and seemed low quality, it was priced at $37 definitely not worth it. If youre looking for incredible Italian food in Edmonton I highly recommend Cafe Amore, its worth every penny!
My first visit here, it was good all the staffs are friendly and nice the only thing I didnt like is that inside the restaurant is too clustered, if you go there on a date everyone can here what you are saying in terms of private conversations.
15 person board meeting Brilliant service Food
It was a lovely evening, service was excellent and food was awesome. Parking: Quiet Tuesday evening Food : 5/5 |
I eat at this place once a month I made a reservation for valentines day 2 mos in advance as this place was my go to for birthdays etc. They called me over and over again then wanted my credit card just to go there. I will never go back. The greed unbelievable.
An amazing restaurant, we ordered lamb and their signature dish with the flaming cheese wheel tableside, and it was all incredible. The service was wonderful, and recommendations and knowledge of their pairings of wine with food were really appreciated!
First time at Violino, excellent food and very good service... We did felt rushed as they probaby needed our table, there is no excuses for that especially with the price of a dinner that should be enjoyed.
Never been here before but it was picked by a coworker for our large office group for a nice evening out. The location is a little hidden away, parking is limited. Our group was 28 people so we were seated on the second level. There was an additional room for other people to still enjoy the second floor, but we had the main room for our group. The place settings on the table was beautiful along with the napkin. While myself and a few of us early birds waited for the rest of our group to arrive, they took our drink orders. Ordered an Italian Café Shakerato and it was soo good. As the rest of our group arrived, they were all greeted and welcomed and drinks were ordered. The Antipasto Placcatore was served and it was delicious. There were lots of options for meats, cheese, grilled vegetables, pickles, olives and smoked salmon. Plus the bread with the oil and balsamic vinaigrette was soo tasty. I decided to try their classic Ceasar Salad and it was perfect. Not too heavy on the dressing and the prosciutto chips were excellent. Even though we were on the top level, there was a bathroom on the top level which was nice. No need to change floors to use the bathroom. When I returned from the bathroom, my third course was waiting for me. This honestly, was a perfect way to cleanse the palette. Though I loved the idea of this being served as a drink...either blended or served over champagne. We were given a selection of five main course meals and I picked the Quattro Formaggio Ravioli (Seafood). I asked for a side of vegetables as well. All of our meals came out hot and the presentation was beautiful. My side of vegetables looked amazing and I could smell all the butter, yum! The pasta serving was a bit smaller then I would have liked but over the course of the meal, I did enjoy quite a bit of food so it was okay. We were then served their Tiramisu and it was exceptional. A few from our group left before dessert, but I then got two pieces of this treat. Ordered a Bellini for my dessert experience and it was perfect. With such a large group, the wait staff was excellent. They served, cleared, took orders and the courses were served in a way that did not make me feel rushed. I was able to sit and enjoy each course along with my wine and friends. I did order a bottle of their Banfi San Angelo Pinot Grigio and it was just the right one for me.
Gouging at its best! Went for dinner on Valentines day and they were charging a 20% gratuity, regardless of how many people were in the dinner party. There were only 2 of us and the service was only worth a 10% tip (maybe not even that). They had a fixed menu, which they informed us of beforehand, but they did not tell us about their 20% gratuity until we got to there. Its nice to implement forced gratuities on certain days. [insert thumbs down emoji here]
We chose this restaurant for Valentines dinner. Atmosphere and service is very good, clean cozy and pleasant staff. The food is not Italian and its grossly overpriced. We had a pre-set menu. Arancini were tasty, salad was so oversalted that it was inedible. Lobster bisque was good. The tenderloin was fantastic it was perfectly cooked. The stuffed chicken was juicy but not much stuffing. The sides were boiled/grilled veggies that you get anywhere. The palette cleanser was a canned peach half with a sorbet. Dessert was ok, a creme brulee and crepe suzette that are compared to dessert you get from costco. The bill had a wine bottle charge that wasnt ours. So almost $300 for nice atmosphere, not really home-made authentic italian food was not what we expected and wouldnt return.
Abit pricey but good food
Absolutely everything was perfection. Food, service, atmosphere, even owner spent much time recommending wine etc Fabulous experience!
IT WAS OUR FIRST TIME..and everything was Awsome!
Decent food. Terrible service. The waiter didn t know how to open the wine bottle. Got cork in my wine glass. She saw my date trying to fish out the cork and asked do you want a spoon instead of apologizing and offering a fresh glass. Very very odd. Then my date mentioned it was my birthday and she didn t say anything. He had to specifically ask if I get something special until she told us there was a free dessert. Ruined a celebratory night for us. EDIT in reply to the response from management: What a ridiculous and condescending reply. I know the difference between sediment and CORK in my wine. I have now downgraded my rating and will never return.
When the manager/owner hits the floor to serve tables you know you have a committed team. Wonderful evening.
The food was outstanding! Its definitely fine dining. My water glass never got below half before out sever refilled it!
Great food decently priced. Nice atmosphere and music and the service is good. Great parking for downtown.
This was our last meal out before the second lockdown and was it ever amazing. Scallops were fresh and cooked perfectly, the starter beet salad was fantastic and my lady loved her pasta. Service matched the amazing food too, cannot wait to return when things reopen again.
Loved it! We will be back to visit to try more tasty Italian dishes!
One of the best Italian restaurants in Edmonton. The restaurant has ample parking and is located in a small quaint older house. They have a large selection of authentic dishes - ours were beautifully prepared and beyond delicious. We would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a nice quiet dinner with friends.
The service was impeccable, and the food was flavourful! The steak was cooked to perfection, everything was well seasoned, they also had halal options It was clean and well maintained little place! Would recommend for special occasions!
The food was outstanding, our waitress was incredible. She did an outstanding job. I cannot say enough good things about this place.
The service, the food, the place! Everything was EXCELLENT AND DELICIOUS! I went with my boyfriend and we spent a lovely time there!
It was okay, I felt the hash brown and fries with the eggs Benedict was something I could have made at home, which I do :/ It would have been better with some asparagus or broccoli even. The Mother s Day brunch wasn t that well thought out I felt. I m saddened Vegetarian options: There was one marked vegetarian option on the brunch menu, no vegan options. Parking: Parking is tough, definitely arrive early to find a spot
Very good food!
Incredible food and service. We will definitely be back.
Good steak
Always superb meal and service!
I have been here once before. This time booked for a large party of 17 with a group menu. I cant say enough great from the incredible servto the fabulous food. The ambiance for such a large group was phenomenal. Kudos to this establishment for a job v fantastically done. Thank you
I wish I took better pictures of my dinner! I had the fettuccine and it was incredible. I would totally go again!
Glad I found this restaurant. The place is homey and cozy. The food is fresh and delicious. And the service is excellent. I cant wait to go back.
Such a wonderful experience! This place was recommended by few of our friends. We came here to celebrate my wifes birthday. Our table was in a small room with three other tables in it. But, we were the only customer in that room. There was a bigger and louder group just outside the room, so the waitress closed the door for us. The appetizers were great! Loved the risotto and the short ribs. We ordered the tiramisu as dessert. But the restaurant added a complimentary dessert -- the bread pudding for my wife. I must confess that I was wondering whether I should order the pudding or the tiramisu. Great place! Highly recommend!
Violino Ristorante is the perfect place for dates and celebrations. I ve dined twice and was happy with the food and service both times. The osso buco was tender and delicious, paired with creamy mashed potatoes, and comes with a tiny fork for those who would love to eat the marrow. Service was excellent! Special mention to our waiter Jesser who made my parent s anniversary celebration extra special.
The patio and server were amazing, the food was sub-par! Dont advertise food you dont serve, especially signature dishes! Aka cheese wheel fettuccine, also dont make me post pictures of the crab cakes!
The food was mediocre/bland and pretty pricey. Service was decent but not the best.
We had a family dinner here for a special event, and everything was first-rate. Superb food and excellent service in a lovely environment.
Beautiful atmosphere and great staff! The food was great! Except the creamy dill sauce on salmon was more like Alfredo, the Asiago cheese wheel was so cool and very rich Wanted to try almost everything on the menu
The food here was amazing! Perfect date night for me and my girlfriend, had a wonderful time thanks to the amazing service as well. The atmosphere of the restaurant is quaint, cozy and romantic. The service was amazing, I didnt catch the name of our server but she was an Asian woman, and she provided amazing service! She even brought out a free birthday dessert for my gf and packed all of our food in boxes for us as well. The other staff and management also seemed helpful and organized. 10/10 would recommend this place for a romantic date night or family dinner. Definitely make a reservation as well if possible as they do get a bit busy even on weekdays it seems.
It was our first visit, to celebrate our anniversary. Everything about the experience was fantastic. The service was impeccable. Our server Jesser was friendly, funny and attentive, he offered to take our picture so we had a keepsake which was above and beyond! The food was amazing, cooked to perfection and there was so much!! They even included a complimentary dessert because it was our anniversary. The restaurant itself it cozy and you can have a conversation and enjoy yourself because you arent competing with loud music and background noise. We will be back and would definitely recommend it!
Great food and service. The ambience is amazing great date night spot.
What a wonderful jewel in the heart of Edmonton. Food and service were outstanding and Adrian is the consummate host! Dont miss this gem.
The food is excellent. Service was excellent. Perfect patio atmosphere.
Amazing service, Amazing food. Definitely worth going!
Such a intimate dinner spot if you want a fancy dinner in town. A bit pricey but definitely worth on how amazing the food is. The service is superb as well.
Cozy and romantic ambiance, delicious food and superb service by our server, Jesser. We haven t had service that great in a long time and he truly went above and beyond to ensure that we had a wonderful meal. Highly recommend this place and we will be back for sure! Thank you, Violino!
My husband and I were celebrating our first wedding anniversary and wanted to try something new to celebrate. So I took to the internet to find this place that offered a flambe chicken Alfredo in a cheese wheel. First thing to go wrong is they offered my husband a refill of his coke but completely ignored me. My husband tried to waive the waitress down but she was completely oblivious to him. Finally we waved what we thought was a manager and asked for a refill of my ice tea where she said, there are no free refills on ice tea, then my husband said he would pay for it but she walked away and I never got a refill. Next was the lobster, spinach and artichoke dip. It covered with this smelliest parmigiana cheese ever! I do have a chef certificate and I know there are so many other types of parmigiana to use that re a lot milder and would not of hidden the lobster. Couldnt even taste the lobster and had to push to cheese aside to enjoy the dip. Then the Alfredo cheese wheel was not happening instead my husband ended up with just a plain plate of chicken parmigiano with the same smelly cheese, no flambe! I got stuffed chicken with a sliver of boursin cheese. The waitress gave us a dessert menu but we had enough of the place and wanted to go home. She then said you are you celebrating something and we said yes in which I did mention on the reservation. So she left and came back with a mini dessert that was the only thing that tasted good. We got the bill and get this they charged 5 bucks for a tiny glass of ice tea! Only thing that made the day nice was the saxophone/ singer player in the middle of the two restaurants. He had a beautiful voice! Other than that not going back!
Nestled within the confines of a repurposed house, Violino Ristorante offers an ambiance that is both unique and inviting. The plush chairs and Victorian-inspired decor create an atmosphere of warmth and sophistication, making diners feel as though theyve stepped into a bygone era of elegance. The culinary journey began with the Fettuccine Tavolino, a table-side spectacle that promises and delivers a rich and creamy delight. Paired with the house Riesling, the dish was elevated to a symphony of flavors. The Risotto, while not as creamy as traditional preparations, was still a commendable dish, especially when accompanied by the crisp notes of the house Sauvignon Blanc. A special mention must be made of the tiramisu cake, a kind gesture from the establishment for a birthday celebration. This classic dessert was executed with finesse, striking the right balance between sweetness and the robustness of coffee. The professionalism of the staff was evident throughout the evening. From their impeccable timing between courses to their attentiveness to drink refills, it was clear that customer satisfaction is a priority at Violino Ristorante. In a world where dining experiences can often feel rushed and impersonal, Violino Ristorante stands out as a beacon of culinary excellence and heartfelt hospitality. A must-visit for those seeking an evening of gastronomic delight. Parking: Limited parking in and around the area. Come early just in case. Wheelchair accessibility: Fairly narrow ramp and corridors
Super
You got to be joking, whoever thinks that this is a good Italian restaurant has never been in a good one. Not worth it.
Such a fantastic restaurant always enjoy the food and service.
I had never heard of this place before but my partner made a reservation to take me out for my birthday. I love that the restaurant is in a repurposed house, I think it creates such a cool and unique atmosphere. It s also located in a lovely area of the city, perfect for walking and enjoying a sunny day. The restaurant was dark and very romantic, and the service was very good. We were checked up on multiple times by various servers. The food left something to be desired. I tried the Penne Pollo ($35) and it was literally just penne pasta in a red sauce with a couple pieces of chicken. It felt like something I could ve easily made at home for $10 or less. My partner got the table side Fettuccine which is what this restaurant is known for, and that had a lot of flavour it was very delicious. I d say that was more worth the price especially because of the unique way they make it. I d say this is a very romantic date spot but very expensive for a meal that you ll probably forget you ate.
Great atmosphere, the food was fantastic, and the service we got from our server, Anne, was impeccable! I had the Agnello and it was superb; the lamb chops were tender, the veggies were flavourful (which I was very pleasantly surprised by), and the sauce was amazing! Went here for our anniversary and we got a complimentary slice of Tiramisu as well, so that was a thoughtful and nice touch from their staff! We had a wonderful experience and would love to come back and try the Fettuccine they make table-side!
Absolutely delicious Italian food in a beautiful classic setting
Long wait but tasty food with table side fettuccine. The crab fritters were crunchy on the outside and delicate and full of flavour on the inside. The basil aïoli was also a very obvious winner as that little touch of arugula in the garnish really hit the spot. Had the squash ravioli which wasn t super flavourful but very well cooked with a sauce that more than made up for it. The sambuca prawns were succulent and so very tasty. 2 bottles of wine between 5 of us.
Excellent menu, excellent service. Cool idea for setting.
Incredible food, excellent service. Great place to celebrate a big occasion or go on a date.
The food was overpriced and poor quality. Worse than a chain restaurant. Lasagne with a weiner on the side- seriously. Not worth trying.
Nice romantic spot with a nice ambience. Service was very good and the food was pretty good too. My daughter loved her dishes very much.
It was okay, good service! Food was not up to the hype.
It was our 9 year anniversary and made a reservation. No greeting at the doo.... a nice enough waiter took us to our table. No acknowledgement about our anniversary. Notes about her egg allergy was not taken Into consideration at all and whoever she spoke with on the phone made false promises about certain dishes she could eat just to find out that they all had egg in it. Our service was terrible . Good thing the food we were able to eat were good . Another worker made excuses for our servers unawareness and care about our special occasion ..and then our server brought us sorbet and just said here you are its eggfree ... Very disappointed with just the whole experience and so we sent an email just for manager to respond If you decide to visit us again, please dont hesitate to contact us in advance to ensure that your dietary needs are met, and we will do our utmost to ensure a seamless and memorable experience.. It seemed like a cop out respond and really doubt we would ever go back there . Thank goodness the food spoke for itself.
Loved it!
A group of 7 of us had dinner here. We had a table upstairs and were there for about 3 hours. Service was impeccable and personal. Food was delicious. We had a variety of pasta and seafood dishes. Everyone left very happy and not feeling over full.
Beautiful atmosphere, the service was excellent and the food was divine
We went to Violino s for my husbands birthday and were not disappointed. The ambiance, service and food were all excellent. The servers are always warm, welcoming and friendly. We had the lobster dip to start, which we always love, being from Nova Scotia. The bread to dip ratio is perfect (it is rare to find restaurants who appreciate this!). My husband had the spaghetti & I had the penne pollo- both 5/5. The portions are very generous and we always have leftovers to take home, which is a bonus. Thank you for a wonderful night out. We will be back!
Went to violino for my husbands birthday and it was just what we needed for a night out without the kids lol. The food was very good my husband had the surf and turf special and the portions were generous and his steak was cooked perfectly. I got the butternut squash ravioli and it was delicious. The atmosphere was the best part felt very romantic and the meal was well paced and we didn t feel rushed at all. Our server Michelle was very nice and answered any questions we had and gave us great service :)
lovely atmosphere...some of the dishes were fabulous and others just ok...my husband loved his surf and turf plate...I had the butternut squash ravioli which lacked flavour. good wine list. Great server. I believe her name was Eugenie.
We booked our staff Christmas party here and attended on Nov 25th. I cant explain how happy we were with everything. Booking was seamless with Adrian. The service was phenomenal and the food was amazing. Everyone was extremely happy with their experience and I know everyone cant wait to go back! Highly recommend it!
fantastic food and service
It was awesome! Food was great, service was great. We were in a semi private dining room and the other table was very noisy and drunk. That is not their fault so it was great!
Went to Violinos for an anniversary dinner. The staff was amazing, they let us arrive early to our reservation, they were quick and efficient, and our water glasses never went empty. They even brought us a complementary dessert to celebrate. The food was pretty great, mostly for my partner though. Being a vegetarian myself, the options for mains were limited to just a couple dishes (the ravioli was still delicious though). If you are celebrating and your wallet is willing, I would recommend Violinos. (Would give it a 4.5 if Google allowed me) Vegetarian options: Main courses were limited to just a couple options. Other options available in the appetizers or salads.
The food and service, as always was exceptional. My only small comment is that the windows and doors in the dining room do let in quite the chill in winter. I understand its a heritage home but it can make sitting near them cool during a long dinner Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp for wheelchair access is available
Brought my office staff (10) out for a Holiday Celebration Dinner, The server was not good. Upon seating we ordered two bottles of Pelegrino, took 30 minutes for them to be brought to table. A dropped fork was never replaced, I ended up taking one from an empty neighbouring table. He put both our Red and White Wine is a chiller that was out of reach and rarely came back to top up peoples glasses, or top up peoples water glasses. The ambience was nice, conversations could be had as the background music was on but not so loud that we couldnt speak. Food was good, not over the top but acceptable. A mandatory tip of 20% added insult to injury with the lack of service quality. Knowing that your getting a 20% tip whether you earn it or not does not drive quality of service. Wont be back, not because if food or ambience, but poor service ruined the experience.
I went with my wife for her birthday and the wait time to get my food took forever. The food was not flavourful at all. Chicken had a rubbery texture. I needed salt to add flavour and the salt shaker holes we tiny compared to the size of the salt grains. All in all it was a bad experience unfortunately.
Pretty location. Service was very good. Food was tasty. Tableside flambe was neat to see.
You cant ask $40 for a $15 dinner, I had better food at a hotel buffet a few months ago.
The food and service at this restaurant used to be very good. Unfortunately, not anymore. The food tastes basic, the service in my recent experience was very unpleasant. Please do better.
Lived up to the hype. Service was great. It is a genuine classic Italian restaurant. You wont be rushed. Food was perfect and it was surprisingly not pricey
Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere.
Great food and services. Love the armosphere
Not the greatest. Okay ambiance but the service wasn t great. Our server was extremely friendly, but it took over 20 minutes from sitting down to meet him or even give our drink orders. We had our first drink about 30 minutes into sitting, and ordered our food. Appetizer came extremely quickly, but was extremely bland. Our entrees and second drinks did not come until an hour later. You could tell the drinks had been sitting as they were covered in condensation, the Bellini had zero slush left and the other cocktail s ice had melted. The risotto s cheese had cooled and the server admitted it had sat under a hot plate for a while and to let him know if it wasn t good. The fettuccini in the cheese wheel was cool, however it had probably been sitting as well and was cold and a tad overcooked. Definitely not worth the near $200 we spent that night. Overall, the food was okay but we regret spending our anniversary here. We will definitely read the more recent reviews next time as it looks like we had similar experiences to others.
We came here for our friends birthday and we were so pleased with our decision to come here. Absolutely loved this restaurant! Calamari was one of the best weve ever had. Their signature Fettucine Tavolino pasta is made in a giant Asiago cheese wheel right in front of you! Such an amazing experience. Beautiful interior and outdoor seating is lovely as well. Service is also wonderful too! 10/10
Wonderful meal and service like always matched with the beautiful atmosphere of the restaurant Parking: The restaurant has its own Parking lot which is nice in the downtown area as it can be hard to find Parking otherwise. The parking lot isnt huge though so it fills up relatively quickly.
The most disappointed we have ever been in a restaurant. I don t mind paying good money for good food and wine but, our food was bland and our wine was not much better then apothic for $77 (extremely warm). I can honestly say the Olive Garden would have been much better and that s not saying much! Save yourself $200 and try somewhere else!
This is by far the best meal Ive had in Edmonton the food from the appetizer to the dessert was absolutely delicious, the service was altogether an absolute joy the servers were a pleasure along with the presentation, the chef Diwakar is a sweetheart and his cooking is out of this world, the feel like home in Italy was indescribable we felt like we on clouds. The three things I recommend whole heartedly is the meat ball appetizer, rach of lamb and the trimasu. I had a lovely experience thank all the staff and chefs I will be coming back.
Always a great place for high-end Italian food and has amazing staff
Our server was terrible. I wish I could say different, and often look for the positives in dinning experiences but this was one of the worst Birthday dinners I ve experienced. Period. Our server was inattentive, cold, prudish, and inadequate- in every way possible. No manners, no attention to detail, no kindness. It took us 3 requests for our drinks, some salt and pepper and over an hour to get our starter salad. We were not offered a booster seat for our child even though I requested one, and upon paying (3.5 hours later of waiting) we realized there were several children booster seats in the back closet. Our server made a half smile once in the 3.5 hours our dinner took. Our daughter is three, and this was over board for waiting without being told things were delayed. Even when we asked we were ignored. The food experience was subpar because of this. It s was average. I m disappointed as I searched for hours to find a place I thought would be a great experience in Edmonton, and this was a disappointment. $250 later. Hire new staff or invest in better training for the ones you have. Cracking a smile when you hand me the debit machine and stare me down at tip time is a little too late, and I have NEVER not tipped. This whole experience is a regret.
One of the best Italian restaurants Ive been to across Canada. I still remember their mouth-watering menu, when I lived in Edmonton I frequented this place often. Never did try their outdoor pizza oven and thats a major regret of mine! Parking: Nice little parking lot tucked away for easy access to this cute restaurant.
What a great building! We sat on the patio which was quite nice. The service was really great. The food was ok, although not nearly the best Italian weve had. It was really quite pricey too.
The food was good and the tiramisu was amazing. Took about 10 mins to be seated even if you have a reservation and about 1.5 hours for dinner for two.
Excellent wine, service & food!
If you re looking for a romantic experience and a higher end night out Violino s hits the mark. The food was delicious and the wait staff top notch they made our romantic b-day celebration special.
This restaurant is AMAZING. My fiancé and I had a wonderful time here and our server was so professional and kind. The drinks were impressive and I had one of the best sangrias here. My husband ordered a highball and loved it. We also ordered the bruschetta and arancini for our appetizers which were delicious and even came with a small salad to share. The entrées were amazing and seeing the flambé at your table is a fun addition to the experience. The server was so sweet she even surprised us with a complimentary tiramisu. 5 stars all around for the service and authentic Italian food.
The location + food is amazing. Adi does a great job with everything, my personal favourite place in the city to eat at.
Amazing restaurant, great food
Amazing food. The caesar salad is perfection. Great service, great food, great people. The location is beautiful and the building itself is gorgeous.
Didnt like it! The food was boring. They say its an Italian restaurant, but its a long way from the average European restaurant. But most restaurants in Canada and there are sad in that respect. We took the most expensive pasta - its just boring pasta with a sea of produce. Such restaurants are not worth tipping.
Adrian, Eugenia and staff were excellent, providing professional service from our reservation research through to our dessert and coffee! Our meals were delicious and the restaurant atmosphere was superb!
The food was ok. Had higher expectations for the meal, was a little bland. The service was also poor, there was only one server for the main floor, and it was quite timely to place a drink order then again for our meal.
Perfect Italian restoraunt. Our meal was very good and we had an excellent time there.
Amazing food, manager is very professional and puts on a great show! Truly made our experience much better, even though it was hard to do so.
In all the times I ve visited I have never been disappointed, the pasta is amazing, salads and others are great too. I come here with friends, family, and my girlfriend because of the fact that: 1. Their service is great 2. The food is delicious 3. The price is worth it. If you re thinking about Italian Cuisine I would definitely recommend
I came in yesterday night and I had an amazing experience. Thank you to our host, waiter, and to the chefs for the food. I would strongly recommend visiting this location. Whoever is running the menu has an excellent taste, one of my favourite spots in Edmonton
amazing food. will definitely come back here
Adi is a great host! Made our experience worth while and was super professional. Great food and restaurant
Super friendly service from Im assuming the manager. The location has a classic old mansion vibe and the food served is delicious. We had the signature pasta when we came and it was genuinely one of the best tasting meals in city. Looking forward to coming here again
The food is terrible for the price- definitely not worth trying compared to any other Italian restaurant in this price range.
Definitely the best place I have eaten in Edmonton. Amazing food, great service, beautiful ambiance and courteous waiters. The location has private parking also. Parking: More than enough parking spots.
My absolute favorite restaurant in Edmonton. Food was freshly prepared and delicious. Iv decided that going there once a week is a pefect gift to myself and my loved ones when i take out just to be pampered and have a truly fun night out.Ive been to this restaurant frequently as it is the best in Edmonton.the service is fast, efficient and friendly.they make celebrations there a must go to restaurant. The owner is very friendly and takes a personal initiative to see thatall are satisfied in his restaurant. Go and there and you will return, I know you will
Amazing food
Beautiful space great price
Adrian is without a doubt the heart of the restaurant, weve known each other for years and I have only ever had amazing experiences. I have regional and area managing people come to town and ask to eat there its so good.
It has a super cozy and warm environment with friendly staff. The quality and portion of the meal was good and they also gave us complimentary dessert for our anniversary which was very thoughtful. I personally think that having something as a symbol of violin would be great. It could be live performance of violin or maybe solo violin music playing in background.
Incredible food. Would go back for a very special occasion. Its fine dining so youll be paying decent coin.
I enjoyed my meals because Chef Samuel knows how to do his thing! The service was good, the food was awesome! I definitely recommend, and do ask of Chef Samuel whenever you re there.
Thank you for a wonderful evening. Great meal. We celebrated our office Christmas party. Thank you Adrian.
