18352 Lessard Rd NW, Edmonton, AB T6M 2W8, Canada
upscale italian restaurant serving authentic Italian cuisine fresh home made Pastas, best quality Alberta Beef Tenderloin paired with great wines and best service in the city with a great chef's counter demonstrating our chefs cooking.
I recently came here for a work party, and was very impressed with the food, drinks, and service. The food was incredible, from the starters to the mains to the deserts, it was all very delicious, I was full but had to try everything. Our server was Diego and he made sure we were well taken care of, he provided excellent service throughout our whole time there and was very friendly and informative, we ended up staying past close but Diego still served us with a big smile. If you love Italian food this is a great place to go! (And thank you again, Diego!)
Vivo isn't a restaurant you go to for the food. If you're going here it's because you want to go some place expensive. This is a "I don't care what it costs my date is hot and I don't even look at the bill it is what it is". The food is delicious, however come on, you won't leave feeling full but that's the idea because she's hot and you dont want to be bloated on a date. Our server was nice and I just asked him to give us his recommendations. Again this returaunt exists because you're looking to impress her, and impress it does.
Easily some of the best Italian food I’ve had in the city. Came here with some friends of mine and we were all blown away by the food and how delicious everything was. It was fresh, well seasoned and just plain good. Nothing we tried was anything super unique or creative, but that really didn’t matter since they use these awesome classic flavours and they do them so well. On top of that the portions were great, we were so stuffed after. The service was for the most part pretty good, our server was super fun and friendly with there only being a few old fashioned jokes that didn’t quite land with our party. He was a little handsy but nothing inappropriate.
First time for a small company function. I'm glad i had the vivo old-fashioned. From start to finish, it was an amazing food experience. It's definitely a return trip when you visit Edmonton. Thank-you Natalie for taking great care of us.
First of all, I truly believe this must be an excellent restaurant. The atmosphere is truly representative of a premium restaurant. However, I was quite disappointed by the service, and I will also say that the food was average. Service: -Host 3.5/5, we arrived early and he accommodated us and greeted on arrival. -Server 1/5, started as a 4/5, but it got worse each moment. Server walked away mid sentence 3 times to attend to the chef calling him. He missed an item on our order, he commented that he felt we had to much food when we came for a 5 course meal and an experience. Server was awkward and difficult to speak to about anything. -Food 3/5, focaccia is different as compared to traditional foccacia, its more of a bread with seasoning. The fettuccini was excellent, great flavour. The arrosto misto was cooked perfectly, however the sausage is not made in house and for the price, it should be. The gravy of the short rib should be a scratch gravy and it appears not. The tenderloin was cooked very well. Great work. The asparagus ends were not broken off, as is a standard practice, and so the ends were barky. Price 2/5, those coming for an experience might achieve what they are looking for here if they are unfamiliar with Italian restaurants or premium dining. However, this was not so. For $100+/person the quality should be better, and the service should also be far beyond. This is an average establishment that is overpriced. Most who have traveled, even nationally to other premium restaurants would rate this similarly, without hesitation. If a Michelin grade restaurant is ever an aspiration, they have a long way to go.
Our first visit to Vivo and it did not disappoint!! We started with the caesar salad and had the short rib & fettuccine as our main dishes. The food was amazing!! We'll definitely be back!!
Understated restaurant but the food was pretty good! Our service was perfect. It's pricey so be prepared Came here with a co-worker and she enjoyed her meal which I didn't get a pic of I had the Fettuccine (half order), an interesting take on that...it was very tasty but was more like a type of Mac'n'Cheese. Very very cheesy/gooey & garlic. I love garlic so that good. Scallops were very tasty!! Asked for an Ameretto Sour, which wasn't on the menu Bartender did a fantastic job on that!
It’s been years since my last visit to Vivo Ristorante. We came with a group of 14, on a Saturday evening, to celebrate a special occasion. We customized our own $78.00/person set menu. 22% automatic gratuity is added on top. If you bring your own cake, they charge $3.00/person. Our waiter, Jordan, was excellent. We ordered two Bollini pinot grigio ($55.00 each) and Il Bruciato DOC ($75.00) wine bottles. For food, there was black tiger shrimps, scallops, risotto, rigatoni (not al dente), brazino (sea bass was the best dish of the night) and short rib. The vegetables (carrots, brussel sprouts and oyster mushrooms) were impressively small. Three small bowls for the entire table. We ordered another brussel sprouts ($16.00). They also charged $2.50 for hot water. Food was okay but nothing memorable.
Excellent spot for Italian food, modern ambient and great service.
Great restaurant, was here with 2 of my friends. Great service, astounding atmosphere and amazing meats!!! Definitely coming back!! Parking: Was a bit full but still could find a parking space for my truck
Amazing food, excellent service. Highly recommend.
Update. Went tonight for a third time for our anniversary. Totally recommend. This is my favorite restaurant in edmonton, hands down. We both love sitting at the bar and watching the chefs cook. The service is great. Highly recommend. First review. We went here to a work event. The service and food were amazing! Ill be back. Their Caesar salad was amazing one of my faves.
Food was amazing, servers went above and beyond, will definitely visit again!
An amazing place to have dinner, served family style so the portions are of decent size, enough for sharing depending on your party size. While not the cheapest place for Italian, the service and atmosphere more than make up for it. Our party consisted of a lacto vegetarian and another whose lactose intolerant, and the kitchen staff were accommodating in changes for these guests. Highly recommended Vegetarian options: While not specific on the menu, the wait staff and kitchen can make accommodations to make the dishes vegetarian and lactose tolerant Dietary restrictions: You can request to make the dishes lactose tolerant being aware that only some dishes can be made this way
Wilbur, the General Manager said he could accommodate a party of 15 for my wife s birthday and took a $500 deposit from my credit card. He then sent me an email with pre set meals and the cheapest meal per person was $75 per person not including auto grat of 22% I called and told him not everyone will be interested in the pre set meals but would rather come in grab a cocktail and order a single dish. He specifically told me on the phone if I have everyone s orders in ahead of time I can accommodate this request . I then messaged everyone who was confirmed coming to message me their orders. Once I received their orders I sent an email to Wilbur with everyone s names and specifically what they wanted to order more than 24 hours in advanced. He then called me back and said I can t accommodate this request. What kind of general manager says one thing, wastes everyone s time and does the complete opposite. This was my favourite restaurant, but due to Wilbur s condescending attitude and poor customer service he has forever ruined mine and 15 others experience at this restaurant. I would recommend getting new management, the way Wilbur talks, he sounds like he owns the place and doesn t care about customer service.
The $75 10 oz tenderloin was so small. The Caesar salad was bomb but not enough of a portion size to be charging $36 dollars for it. The fettuccini was cold. Server was nice but just said sorry when we raided our concerns about the size of the steak and the cold pasta won t be back but will try be adding capers in my own Caesar salad at home in the future.
My absolute favourite restaurant in Edmonton! Amazing service and atmosphere and every dish is so delicious.
Very much enjoyed our evening
Are Edmonton people stunned or do you think this is quality food???..... go three hours south and experience real italian food at half the price at any restaurant. I would compare this place to uncle willys family style buffet. Gross. Never will i eat at this place again. Staff....18 yrs and counting and sharp as a light bulb. Food.....seafood alphaghetti....gross. desert outstanding. 400 dollars for what I call substandard food court food. I heard all these great reviews but for my experience honestly a place like Olive Garden has this place beat 5 x over and I dont eat Olive Garden. RUN i think people think this is high end in edmonton. UKRAINIAN food is better than this stuff. Sad to come up and go here. Calgary has high end for hald the price of this
Went to Vivo for the first time last night with my friend, we sat up at the counter. The food was amazing...the service was amazing...the atmosphere was awesome. I cant say enough good things about this place! I will for sure be back!!!
Stop thinking about it, and just pull the trigger and go here, you will be happy you did! This has been one of the best restaurants I have been to in edmonton! We ordered the Focaccia with the rigatoni with a beef bolognese sauce, patate arrosto and glaze carote. Everything came family style and it was all fairly surprisingly large portions. Everything came out very quickly, and all steaming hot, just perfect! The bread came out 1st and wow was it delicious, freshly baked bread, cant go wrong with this order. Everything else was perfectly paired together, and just every bite was packed with flavors! Not only was the food amazing but the service really made everything just that much better! We met Wilber at the host desk and he graciously took our photo outside on the patio. He cleared one of the best seats on the house for us, which was right beside the glass fire place. We later found out that he was the own and I am just so impressed with his establishment and the level of care he gave. Then our waiter Dean was over the top fantastic. He had such a positive charm and huge expertise of the menu, he was very attentive to our table. The excellent above and beyond service made the whole experience very memorable!
Food was exceptional. Thank you Jordan for the fantastic service! We will be back to see you again
Had a great night !! Ty
Let start they put mayonnaise under the scallops instead of parsnip puree, it was the most yucky greasy delicacy ever tasted. The focaccia bread is days old and came straight from a fridge they didnt even warm it up! To top it off this Italian restaurant plays top rock songs I could not believe how terrible the music was at a fine dining restaurant, this is a honest review and hope you save your $$$$.
Staff were amazing and very attentive. For starters we had the foccacia which was delicious, for mains we had two pasta dishes. The fettuccine was oily and the pasta was very heavy. I found the sauce itself bland. My partner had the rigatoni and he said the flavour was good but again the pasta was very heavy.
This is my favourite restaurant Ive ever been to. They knocked it out of the park on every single course we had - to the point that we felt we had to do dessert too because everything was so fantastic. You absolutely HAVE to have their fettucine. Im going to be thinking about it for days, I kid you not. Even just the focaccia bread - omg.
Had a graduation celebration dinner with friends and family in the private dining room. Excellent food and exquisite service. Pricey, but worth the cost.
Food was great. Cole was awesome. No complaints, one of the best Italian places in the city
This was our first experience at Vivo and if I can give it more than 5 stars I would! Firstly our server Diego was incredible!!! He really knows his food, his wines and he s such a professional 10/10 server. (Also at the end of the night we forgot our keys and Wilbur called us and left a message for us. When we called back he was so kind and we went back to get our keys. when we arrived back Diego was outside waiting for us with a smile on his face). Excellent service! Thank you so much Wilbur and Diego!!. The rigatoni is to DIE for. The portions are amazing and a half size is HUGE. Must try! Also , Diego truly deserves a raise!!! You can tell he loves what he does and has a passion for people and their happiness ! Thank you Vivo and Diego :) we will 100% be back!
They have the best pasta! Love going here for a taste of Italy. We always get the fettuccini, short rib and Caesar salad. It is so amazing. I can t recommend this place enough.
This was our best restaurant experience in Edmonton, bar none. Not only was the food over-the-top delicious, the service was outstanding. We were a table of 5 outside on the patio. The waiter, Cody, was friendly, had a great sense of humour. He was attentive and also well prepared with great suggestions in support of our plant-based diet. We appreciated the grappa to finish off a wonderful evening. We will certainly be back! Thank you so much.
We absolutely loved the food and atmosphere. Our server, Jordon was amazing. He guided us through the menu with perfect explanations, and his suggestions were delicious. He even arranged for a specific pasta dish we wanted by asking the chef. At the end of the night, Jordon took a picture of us, making our experience even more memorable. The food was fantastic, and the service, including a greeting from the manager, was outstanding. We will definitely be back
Probably the best Italian food in Edmonton. Great atmosphere, service and amazing food. The Sea Bass is the best youll find!
AMAZING FOOD!!! Had supper with family to celebrate my retirement, and it was the best Ive ever had.
Possibly the best fine dining in Edmonton
Awesome meal caprese, lobster risotto all Aragosta, Aristotle Misto, Brussel sprouts, carrots, tiramisu and drinks and wine. Great time had by the 4 of us.
Absolutely good service. The team was excellent. The pasta and steak I got was cooked in perfection.
We had a group of us last night celebrating a Birthday, absolutely a spectacular spot for dining. The food , service and attention to detail was outstanding. We will be using Vivo as our restaurant of choice for future celebrations. Food : 5/5
Fantastic experience! Server was very attentive and kind. Their full-course dinner was delicious as well. Highly recommend :) Food : 5/5
The beef carpaccio was amazing, and so was the beef tenderloin - it was incredibly well made and juicy. However the fettuccine we got was way too salty, and overpowered the rest of the dishes, and the drinks were just average. Overall, vivo was okay for the price point.
The food was ok and very expensive, nothing really special. Pasta is bland and no seasoning. The place is too dark and our server looks like she doesnt want to work at all that night. We ordered bistecca a la florence as for medium, they end up giving us medium well, we told to our server and the chef came to our table and check himself. He said that he uses his thermometer to check it but still end up medium well. He insisted to change it and it will be fast but we end up having medium rare. The owner or manager just gave us a compliment shot of there expensive dessert wine.
Yes I will recommend vivo restaurant to all my friends
We never expected everything about this restaurant... from the outside it doesnt seem fancy or high-end looking restaurant and we thought its just another italian restaurant in Edmonton... but were wrong.. (glad that our expectations arent met) Lol! From service to food to experience.. we dont have the right words.. its like weve found a hidden low-key italian restaurant yet the best weve ever had here in Canada. Foods are so gooood! (But yeah it is quite the price but real good food arent made and sold cheap unless it is your abuelas) Our server, forgot his name.. hes a talker for sure and we loved it! Made us feel weve been there before.. very warm & welcoming.. hes a pro and the owner should be proud of this gentlemen... Overall, we loved it! Definitely a must try!
One word: AMAZING! Ive always wanted to try this restaurant and I finally got around to it The result; I was blown away! The food was so delicious and the staff was very friendly. I met Greg the owner and he was delightful. Give this place a try if you have not yet!
Great food and service was phenomenal
Food was spectacular and the service was off the chart! Great work people, keep it on!
Highly suggest having a reservation when coming here. Good for date nights or celebrations. Restaurant is surrounded with black out curtains soo its more on the darker, quiet ambiance. We were in a group and chose a set menu. 5 star service by Jordan! food is highly recommended with regular checks from their manager. The only comment I would say is that they need to review their portions. The set menu was served on a bigger plate, and we just served it amongst ourselves. If it was served in individual plates, i think we would have been more satisfied. The Tiramisu is phenomenal! Again, there were 11 of us, but the dessert portion was more for 6. Maybe well try the ala carte next time.
Definitely will go back. Food is great. Love the food. We rented out their private room for a baby shower. Our server, Jordan, was very accommodating.
Hands down BEST italian restaurant in Edmonton. We had the carpaccio. Ceaser salad and a pasta and it was all amazing. Our waiter was top, very polite and friendly. Good vibe inside liked that the sous chef came out to check on everything .
Everything was so delicious. I appreciated the family-style dining and effort put into each dish. We will be back for sure!
Another awesome experience here at vivo ,food an service were amazing ,well done !
We had a wonderful evening. Excellent food. Everything was delicious.
Loved it. Had a table next to one of those fake fireplaces which was gorgeous, the steak, gnocchi and arancini were delicious - it was honestly the best arancini Ive had at a restaurant. Our server, Taylor, did a fabulous job.
Its a lovely, fancy Italian restaurant with comfortable seating. Bar seating as well, if youd like to watch your food being made! They managed to take a great dish like arancini and elevate it. Its the best Ive ever had! Their steak is exquisite and Im not a steak person at all. Those 2 dishes stood out the most though the gnocchi was interesting, the meatballs were good and the fettucini wasnt for us, which isnt to say its bad in the least! The tiramisu was amazing!! And a very good size for the price. Our server Taylor was wonderful! We will be back regularly.
Had a memorable and fun company event in Vivo s private room. Excellent selection of wine and the food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend if you re looking for a cozy and high-end dinner. Don t miss the meatballs, arancini, mushroom risotto or the beef tenderloin. Our server, Taylor was friendly, accommodating, and efficient. We will definitely be back for our next celebration!
First visit and not sure we would return. We arrived early for a 645 reservation and were seated promptly although no one appeared at our table until a few minutes to 7. The Caesar salad, while awkward to serve as a share, was delicious as was the focaccia. We had 2 pastas - a ravioli feature which was just ok and their signature fettuccine which was unimpressive. The noodles were excessively thick and the sauce was dominantly under seasoned cream with a bunch of globs of melted cheese. Following that we had the filet and mushrooms. Both of which lacked seasoning, the mushrooms were undercooked and swimming in cream. The room is loud even with open tables and lacking in the upscale feel presented on the website. Things like table cloths would be expected in an upscale restaurant and the ambiance at Vivo is more midrange however the price tag is certainly upscale.
We are never disappointed in anything we chose!
Great pasta !
So disappointed. We came for date night last night ordered wine, some appetizers and meals. Apps came out quickly and were good. My meal came out a minute later asked again and again and finally said to forget his meal a full 45 minutes after my meal arrived. Then when he brought the bill he said he took the rigatoni off - as though he was doing us a HUGE favor when we never ever even saw the rigatoni. They made no effort to make it better and service was lackluster wine was never refilled, not checked on. While the food that we did get was decent, It was vastly overpriced for pasta and the service that we got if you are going to run a premium restaurant, I expect that to be reflected in all areas. There are WAY better Italian options
Disappointed with the food and service. We ordered wine and the server came back 10 minutes later and asked us what we would like to drink as she had ?forgotten. She also had to take our food order twice. She said she was overwhelmed, however there were multiple management staff by the bar talking and not assisting the service staff. For the price the food was underwhelming. The rigatoni was bland and the gnudi had a grainy texture. Save your money and go to Uccelino s.
Excellent atmosphere, delicious food, exceptional service. Definitely on the pricey side, but perfect for a special event date night.
Excellent meal! We came for a valentines meal and enjoyed our service very much! The arancini was recommended and it was fabulous! Steak was tender and brussel sprouts were the crispiest I ve ever had! Highly recommend for a special occasion
The portions could definitely be bigger. The food was extremely good
Food was lovely as always. Service was great, fettuccine was to die for. Only complaint was the restaurant gets a bit loud when its full, but thats to be expected. Photos are of caprese salad and Tenderloin.
Ridiculously great food ! Cooked to perfection. Allan was absolutely a great waiter. Will be back soon
Great service, tasty food, a little expensive but worth it for a nice dinner out with friends or family
I came here with my boyfriend for a romantic dinner. The food was great, but the seafood risotto was very salty and their lemon meringue dessert was hard to eat. Also they seated us in a very weird spot connected to another group who was loud and their server and a cook who would come to visit that table was in our space and it was a bit annoying. I will say our server was amazing I dont remember his name but he had tattoos.
We wanted an Italian venue for our anniversary dinner and chose Vivo--not many others open. The acoustics are poor with tile, hard ceiling and no partitions to dampen sounds. The Caesar salad was uncut romaine leaves with shaved parmesan; difficult to cut and serve. The entree of chicken parmesan was an adequate portion for two, flavor was mediocre. We noted that coffee refills were billed @ $6/small cup. We werent given a heads up until we checked the bill. It was a rather average meal--no drinks or dessert--but with a modest tip we still dropped $150. We easily could have matched the meal quality at half the price at a chain diner.
The tenderloin was AMAZING! Our waiter was great! The fettuccine was fantastic! Ill be back!
Very nice workers
Phenomenal food and excellent service
Very good food and environment.
Warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were knowledgeable, professional and always available to help us, despite the restaurant being packed. The food was delicious, creatively presented and the portions were generous. A lovely experience overall. Vegetarian options: There is not a large vegetarian selection, but the few items that were available were fresh and delicious. I had a truffle ravioli.
Went out for dinner with my partner and had a great experience. Food was amazing and love the sharing concept of it all. Also the peach raspberry sangria is delicious!
Spectacular evening, dinner, wine and Service!! Well be back soon!!
Great food and service
This wasnt the experience I was looking for, I came in and the wait staff were nice, It took very long to get a drink and they like judged me for not wanting to drink wine/alcohol The down draft was absolutely awful, it made to food cold in minutes. The chicken parm tasted like it was coated in shake and bake, it just wasnt good. The gelato was meh and the staff push the fact that its in house made Overall pricy and not a good experience
Absolutely awesome food! Everything on the menu was delicious!!! Parking: Plenty of parking Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
If you have never been to VIVO, you are missing out. This place is worth the drive if you re not located on the west end (I m not and I ll be back!) The service is fantastic (thanks Emily and Chef Medi) and the food. Oh my goodness, the food was delicious. By far some of the best Italian I ve ever had. I love how everything is family-style, it makes for a fun, interactive dining experience with your guest(s). There is also a private dining room! Check this place out and experience what authentic Italian food is.
Absolutely THE best dining experience, and best meal ever!! You havent had Italian until youve been to Vivo!!
An Excellent opportunity to Try Another Stlye of Service & Italian food. Enjoyed Being Close to the Crew in the Kitchen area.
The prices are on the expensive side which usually serves approximately 4 guests, but every dishes served were excellent. I recommend checking the menu first. Dishes are served family-style dining.
Always great. The fettuccine is the best in the city, my favourite.
Best experience I ever had in an Edmonton Restaurant. This is the greatest Italian restaurant in the city.I had a great time with my family. Tatum was serving us and made our experience even better with excellent customer service!!! Will definitely be back.
We were visiting Edmonton and looking for somewhere to eat after a day at the mall. We called and were able to get a reservation for 9. The menu is a little different but easy to understand once our great server explained it. The food was amazing. The salads were thr best I have ever had. We had 4 kids with us and they all had second helpings. If I lived in Edmonton this would be a regular for me. Its not cheap but you definitely get more than you pay for with flavor and quality. The service is also first class.
Just got home from an amazing evening a Vivo. Food was amazing and a 5 out of 5 for sure. We had some of the best service by Taylor that I have ever had - 6 out of 5 :). The restaurant was able to work around food allergies and Taylors suggestions on menu items was perfect. Great job team Vivo. See you soon.
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G restaurant! The meat is also Halal I ll definitely be back and I ll be posting a review on my socials thank you to Connor. Parking: Enough parking for you and everyone coming :)
Loved every dish! Excellent service. Would recommend!
Food never disappoints. Great place.
A gorgeous high end Italian restaurant in the west end of Edmonton, Vivo Restorante serves up delicious family style plates of all varieties. There are several Italian restaurants in Edmonton dishing up high quality foods. Vivo has a modern flair on traditional favorites and ranks up there with the best of them. The space is stunning. Dark interior with wonderfully rich accents. The kitchen is open...and very sparkling clean. Our service was very good. The server was very well informed and friendly. The food was great. Tremendous presentation and flavor. We will definitely be back (we already have been). This is a very strong anchor in the west for high quality dining. 4 x
Loved loved loved this place. The atmosphere was so cozy and high end. The food was unbelievable!!!!! The biggest bonus was everything was Halal certified !!!! As someone who is restricted with where to eat for Halal options, this place blows it out of the water! We will definitely be returning!
This is the BEST Italian restaurant in the city by far! Food is absolutely delicious and the staff are incredible. Four of us went there for my 30th bday and they gave us a complimentary Tiramisu. Emily was an awesome server, she was super knowledgeable about all the different wines and was super fun, joking with us all night. We will definitely be back again!
Great food!
We are from out of town - My husband and I went for a Sunday dinner last weekend and were blown away. From top to bottom this restaurant was impeccable. The service, food and experience as a whole was a foodies dream. This place will remain as one of our top date spots if we are ever in Edmonton again.
I have been here at least a half dozen times since they opened a decade ago. Not once have I been disappointed. The fettucini is a must try, as well as the caprese salad. Lovely night out, every time.
Vivo Risorante is one of the best restaurants in Edmonton! I have had the pleasure of dining here many times over a couple years and it is always a five-star experience. The food is absolutely delicious. We started with the focaccia and arancini, then had the Caesar salad and gamberetti. Our main was their signature dish, the fettuccine. And we tried their tiramisu for dessert. I recommend all parts of the meal, especially their Caesar salad and fettuccine. And their staff are all phenomenal! I can t wait to go back soon! Parking: Vivo has lots of free parking right outside the restaurant.
Vivo is such a wonderful hidden gem! Phenomenal food...and yes you can take home what you dont eat! An excellent of small & larger shared meals. Being solo...ordered a small caprese and shared the carpaccio. Will see you again soon & thank you Dean for the fantastic service.
Amazing food!! I got so many ideas for recipes Id like to try service is great too. When our server found out it was my husbands birthday, she took the tiramisu off the bill
Waited an hour for our food. Overpriced and wasnt that great.
Great experience all around. Yes, on the pricey side, but its all halal all delicious meat. Great pasta .giod service, definitely authentic italian style dining. Did i say how amazing the arancini is. Must try. Lamb cooked to perfection chef recommended.
Great place! Really enjoyed it. 4 of us went all tried different entrees . We all loved them.
Amazing food and amazing service cant wait to come back and try more!
Absolutely amazing Pollo.
So good the food and service was amazing
Very enjoyable evening. Taylor and Diego were great. Fantastic service
This used to be our favorite restaurant in the west end but the food quality has really gone downhill. Not worth the price anymore IMO for the standard fare I could make at home.
The food here is amazing. We went for a company function and loved everything. We heard from friends that this restaurant was their go-to for Italian and we can see why. Highly recommend.
Best pasta I ve ever had and I m a foodie! I love that it is hand and home made. Worth the price. I wish they didn t close down the Downtown and Windermere location. Parking: Lots of open parking.
The meatballs are at the top and were very tasty, the pasta in a alberta beef bolognese was taste as well. The 2 prices on the pasta was for 1/2 that feeds 1-3 people and the and full order to feed 4-6 people. 3 of us did the half portion of pasta and a order of meatballs, and we were content when finished. The staff was knowledgeable of the menu and very pleasant, and professional. We will be back again.
Best food in the entire city! Ive been coming to this restaurant since the very first day they opened for business. Locally sourced food and the best Caesar salad in the land!
Amazing atmosphere and delicious food.
By far one of my favourite restaurants in Edmonton! Food is always delicious, portions are big, and the atmosphere is lovely. Definitely a must try!
Great food. Huge patio. Easy parking.
I had such a beautiful night at vivo! I will defiantly be back! Thank you to miss Danica for her beautiful samples. She really made us feel special. She also really knows her stuff!! She really made our experience! I can t wait to come back !!
Amazing food and services!
Our first time at Vivo and it was fantastic! The atmosphere is great, and food is amazing. Jordan was so attentive and informative. Will definitely be back!
Go. Seriously, go to this restaurant. Sit at the bar, watch the chefs cook your food and play with fire so big it would burn anyone elses eyebrows clean off. The staff is knowledgeable about each and every dish, friendly and welcoming, and make it a truly wonderful dining experience. The food is incredible and the atmosphere is warm and relaxing, the perfect place for a special night out. Highly highly HIGHLY recommend!
Always a great visit. The food is always amazing. The wine list is very large. The menu has many options and almost everything on the menu comes in 3 different sizes. From single, two people to family style sizes. Perfect for sharing. They have an open kitchen theme, you can see right in and kinda watch your food cooked. Also they have coat check.and the most amazing, professional service team.
We went here for our anniversary and I would highly recommend giving it a try. The prices are on the higher end but the food was flavourful, well portioned-sized, and freshly house-made. We got the Caesar salad, fettuccine Alfredo, and gelato. All beautifully made and can definitely taste how authentic and homemade the pasta and even gelato was. Allen was our server and he was phenomenal. We had someone with a nut allergy and he was very careful in ensuring everything was safe to eat.
A bit overpriced, but tasty Rigatoni!
What an amazing meal. We got the Caprese salad, the lamb rack, and the tiramisu. So delicious. And the service was out of this world!!!!! Thank you for this wonderful evening.
What an amazing restaurant! Once you experience Vivo theres no turning back and the excellence you experience will be hard to match, and near-impossible to beat. Our anniversary date night was full of incredible (homemade!) food, and excellent service from Diago. We also enjoyed a chat with owner Wilbur who ensured we received nothing but the best. Absolutely fantastic. Kid-friendliness: Family-friendly restaurant for sure; no issues at all with children being present. The restaurant also has a private dining room for people who prefer a more intimate setting.
Service is impeccable. Food is for two people, minimum, large portions. Plan on taking some home. Definitely on the higher price side of restaurants in the city.
This was our first time at VIVO and everything from getting there to ordering our drinks was amazing! We went for a valentines dinner and our server, whose name I cant remember was absolutely fantastic. He was outgoing and made us laugh and had a great sense of humor! The appetizers and mains were so so good. The wine was perfect and definitely worth the price. The crowd definitely was a vibe and everyone who dined there made it so much more comfortable and enjoyable. However, we got our pastas to go. The server took our plates into the back and boxed our food for us. When I got home, I poured the pasta directly from the box into a plate. When I took a bite, I noticed my tooth almost chipped. I looked and saw something that was a hard plastic. Very hard. It almost looked like a hard plastic nail or something. It was super long and definitely almost broke a tooth. Im disappointed because everything at the restaurant was excellent and everyone was so welcoming. We trust people with our food and I certainly do, but things like this just makes you wonder how this happens
We decided last minute to have a business dinner at Vivo, and could not be happier with the choice we made. Our service was remarkable, and made the night. The food was amazing, and we chose multiple dishes to share among the table. The family style serving was great and gave us all an opportunity to try multiple things. Order the arancini and the COOKIES!
Great service and food for our uncle s 60th birthday.
My husband and I came for dinner yesterday, and we were able to get a last minute reservation on a weekday evening. We tried the caesar salad, signature bread, meatball and their two popular pasta options. All the dishes were delicious. For two, the portion were large, so we had to pack some to go. The very long pepper mill was also very cool! We were also very impressed with the service. Weve been to multiple top tier restaurants around the world, and we got to say, we are really happy with how quick the service is. Dean, I believe who is our server was also quick to answer any questions we had about the menu items, and make some great recommendations. We will be returning in the near future and bringing more friends along for our next meal here. We are excited about our upcoming trip in a few weeks to Italy, and certainly happy to know that once we return from our trip, we can always come back to Vivo if we ever crave Italian food. Everything is 5 stars. We only gave 4 stars for atmosphere as we felt the lighting was a little dim in the restaurant and the standard rectangular small plates used were similar to those used at hotpot restaurants, and for italian food, we prefer using round plates :) Otherwise, stellar service and food!
An absolutely excellent meal. We sat at the bar and got a front row seat to our meal being prepared. The filet was perfect, the gnocchi was life-changing, and the wine pairing was on point. The service was exceptional, from the front to the back of the house. Upscale dining at its finest
Tried this place out for our anniversary dinner and it was amazing. Food was high quality, the atmosphere was elevated. Service was fast, we were seated immediately since we had reservations. The server was friendly, quick, and gave great recommendations. Really nice place for a special occasion!
We booked an early dinner for our fifteenth anniversary, and the staff took amazing care of us. The beef tenderloin was an amazing medium-rare, and the grilled asparagus with prosciutto was absolutely delicious. I would heartily recommend vivo to anyone.
The best experience we had tonight! Came in for my girlfriend s birthday and Taylor & Isidro ( who is in training and I am sure he will be great ) they gave us such a wonderful service I felt I have to share this . The birthday cake was a very nice touch !!! I will definitely be back on our next family special occasion. Bravo vivo !!!
A brilliant experience we have had at the restaurant. The place is cozy and welcoming. The server was extremely friendly and cheerful. He informed us about the foods beforehand and recommended what to eat. The fettunine was the best. We did not like the risotto at all, as there wasnt much favour in it. The chef and seever both apollogized and the manager didnt charge for the risotto at all. A great classy example of exemplary swrvice. We will definitely visit the restaurant again and again.
It was our first time to Vivo and got to say it was the best experience from the beginning to the end. The service was top notch. The server we got was so nice ( forgot his name ) but he was wonderful and very helpful with everything. The food was so delicious too. My friend loved everything and she did feel so special on her birthday day especially with the beautiful cake you provided at the end.Thank you again Vivo for an amazing experience, we well be back . And definitely recommend this place to everyone
The dining experience was absolutely exceptional. Every dish we had was flawlessly prepared, leaving us in awe. The steak, in particular, went way beyond all expectations, it surpassed any steak Ive ever tasted (including The Keg s). Its texture was incredibly tender and melt-in-your-mouth, making it an unforgettable culinary delight. Our server was delightful and incredibly knowledgeable about the food. He helped us with finding the correct portion sizes to leave us all satisfied and full. Overall, it was a great experience that I hope to have again.
Always excellent food & service
Staff, experience, and most importantly, the food were top notch. The Porterhouse was better than any of the traditional high-priced steakhouses. Recommend for a third date or that special occasion. I am completely impressed and will definitely be back
Great food. Attentive service. Nice decor.
We dined here for the first time last night. The food and service was fantastic. We ordered the sangria, arancini, gnocchi, lamb, brussel sprouts and tiramisu. We will definitely come back again and try other dishes.
Overpriced and the quality of meat is par. Great staff and atmosphere tho made up for the outrageous prices
Make sure you dont go when its busy. Its a small space with overpriced food, and youre almost sitting shoulder to shoulder with the person next to you. That being said, since its a small place, it can ve extremely noisy so you might have to talk over people to be heard. Its not worth your time and money unless you go for the service
Been coming here for years since they first opened. Always a good spot in the west for family style Italian. Service is always amazing in which we come back for, the people and of course the food. Dishes can be a hit or miss on some days but always worth coming back for
Definitely find dining everything tasted amazing definitely would recommend
This place is amazing! We came here a few times now and just had our Christmas party here. The food is exceptional, they spaced it out so we could chat and catch up. The service was top notch and the staff are very friendly and fun. You cant go wrong with anything you order. If you are looking for a place for a date night, get together or even a Christmas party this is the spot to go.
Excellent food, excellent service.
Terrific meal, family style. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible parking and entrance. Food : 5/5 |
I have been to Vivo many times, for many different occasions, but I especially want to recognize how incredible they are at hosting events in their private room. I had around 15 guests and a speaker presentation. Every detail was considered; before the event, it was very easy to work with the venue, and the service was impeccable. If you need a private room that has the right atmosphere but is also quiet enough you can hear a presentation, consider Vivo.
Fantastic meal with fantastic service. The atmosphere is great except when absolutely full, its gets a little loud and hard to visit.
Love the short ribs
Food was very good. Bit expensive but was a special occasion.
This place is dark and dated. Felt like I was stuck in the early 2000s-the service vibe was try hard ..food was alright.
Best Cesar Salad, ever!
Excellent food !
** Excellent experience x3 ** Our third time to Vivo since relocating to Edmonton. Vivo was first recommended to me by a colleague for a special dinner. It exceeded our expectations all three times. Service is very professional across various waiters and staff. Food was outstanding, again, every time. Long time and experienced waiter Alan made our last visit for dinner an exceptional experience, Thanks, we will be back soon!
Love the food .. This place is a gem Definitely five star
Great food, great service all around. Dean did an amazing job paying attention to our needs the whole meal.
Excellent every time!
Great food and great service
Great place if youre looking for something nice but not stuffy. Best Fettuccini Ive ever tasted.
What to say about Vivo? It was our first experience at the restaurant tonight. We had a group of 16 of us for a work outing on the recommendation from a coworker and Vivo exceeded all of our expectations. The food was absolutely incredible, the atmosphere was outstanding, and the service was second to none. Alan took such good care of us and treated us like family right from the beginning. His care made the night truly magical. Thank you Alan and the whole team, we can t wait to come back.
Top notch food and fantastic dining experience. A gem in the west end
Pros: excellent service, fettuccine was cooked perfectly and flavourful. The focaccia and drinks were great. Cons: the short rib was half fat and cold and was not up to par. I was told by the waiter that he was going to bring it up to management and the chef but nobody followed up. Overall, okay experience. I would come back for the fettuccine and focaccia only.
Excellent Italian food with a diverse selection of wine. The customer service is exceptional. If you are interested in dessert I would highly recommend the tiramisu.
Hands down the best dining experience I have ever had. Highly suggest the signatures!
Best Italian restaurant I ve ever been too !! Delicious food Friendly staff Great atmosphere
So awesome ...the food second to none Simply wonderful experience
Excellent service. Excellent food. We have been to Vivo many times over the years and each experience has been terrific.
One of the best dining experiences I have had in years. Absolutely perfect service from Sean. The soups chef checked in on us and the entire meal from the Scallops to the Rib was AAA
Ridiculous what some places get away with these days. Food was unimaginative and bland and prices were a joke for the quality of food being served. Unfriendly atmosphere and server was rushing us out as soon as we had finished our meals. Never going back.
The pasta was cooked perfectly and very tasty Good job
Top notch service and quality
We went to the restaurant as a group of 8 to celebrate a birthday. We were put in a private room separate from the main dining room. Our server was Tatum. The Caprese and Caesar salad were excellent. The main courses were equally as good. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our server was very attentive and made the evening even more special. The only critique, I didnt notice a power accessible door on entering the establishment.
You get what you pay for? Not at this restaurant! Sorry Vegetarian options: Vegan Service : 4/5 |
Went there for my wifes birthday with friends and were treated so nice. From the greater to our server to the manager who took time out of his evening to chat. Amazing food and options. Any questions and they will explain the menu and food. Thank you.
Parking: Located in a strip mall so there is lots of parking
Awesome!
Excellent food, great atmosphere. I will return to this establishment.
We decided to celebrate our anniversary on this beautiful nice restaurant and lets start with the restaurant is very nice and beautiful I really like that the kitchen is open viewed and whatnot, the service was good could of been a bit better but over all it was good. The reason for the lower rating is due to the main course food. We first ordered a entre with was the carpaccio which was very very good, then we ordered the gnocchi which were very very very good, well be thinking of them for a while, but then we order the steak and well it was good to be honest, I like my steak medium rare to rare and the first time it came out medium, they remade a new one and the manager came with it and also apologized for it which was great, but again the steak came out medium and even the manager said it was wrong. We still ate it because I didnt want to waste food but it was disappointing. The manager did come to us and gave us a gift card to come back so Ill hopefully be returning soon to give it a second try
Darker upscale place with traditional Italian ambiance. BEST Fettuccine Alfredo Ive EVER had. (Im not a fan, but this dish changed my mind) !!PS. Dont skip dessert!! The tiramisu was delightful & unique.
Its very loud in there. Some dishes are great that are made in house. Their Ceaser salad is amazing, but the breads are old and tasteless. Overall, its a good place to dine. Parking: Plenty of free parking. Kid-friendliness: Its crazy loud in there, kids will fit right in.
I usually enjoy Vivo s food but this time I decided to order just dessert for delivery and made a big mistake ordering their Cheesecake!!! I am not sure if they just forgot to include the cake or they really think what they are serving can be called cheesecake!!! I got a bunch of cream with some fruit at the top for 17$!! Incredibly disappointing never again!!!
Fantastic food served family style, warm atmosphere, and great staff. Definitely going back. The Brussels are phenomenal.
Absolutely amazing food and fantastic atmosphere. The server was phenomenal with helping on choices and glad I went with his recommendations on items I wasnt sure about.
The best dinner I have in Edmonton with my family! the best arancini I ever tried, the tenderloin it was so tender is melted in the mouth ,I m so excited to try their brunch!!!
Simply wonderful..
