Sahara Mediterranean Restaurant in Edmonton

First time visiting this restaurant, adventurous spirit. The experience was very enjoyable. We elected to go with a set menu that included a wide selection of cuisine of Lebanon. Fantastic flavours.

Ordered on skip the dishes not only is the food amazing but the staff was so kind to me! He gave me salad because I wasn t able to add it on the app, he called me to make sure I liked the food and customer service was just amazing! The food is so fresh and cooked to perfection! I literally have nothing to say besides positive things! This is a north side gem! Always has been! If you ever want to order some good Mediterranean food this is your spot!

This place is WOW. I am very very impressed with the menu items, presentation and taste, also, service was fantastic. I was waiting around for my food items that were ordered and they gave me grape leaves to try out, and these had to be the best grape leaves I ve tried by far from any Mediterranean restaurant. I would highly recommend to all my friends and family!!

We had our year-end dinner at this restaurant and the experience was outstanding! We were a group of almost 40 people and the service was perfect from start to finish. A special thank you to Jamal, our server, who served us with great professionalism and kindness. He managed to meet everyones needs with patience and efficiency, which made our evening even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was warm, the food delicious, and the staff incredibly attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant for group events or just for a great dining experience. Thank you again.

Sorry Sahara, I used to enjoy your food but this time it was very disappointing experience. Not a good place to go with small kids. 1. High chairs were not offered. Kid was sitting on my laps, very unsafe. 2. Food. My asks were not followed. Asked for no cheese for a kid, but food was with melted cheese on it. Had to scrape it for kid to eat it. 3. My fish was just something else- dry and/or burned. Unable to eat. 4. Kebabs were with too much spice. 5. Salads with too much vinegar, maybe old. 6. Desserts were brought to us but we had no plates anymore. Waited for a few minutes. No one got us plates, until we asked for some. This should not happen in a restaurant. We paid 300 for 4 adults and a child and left hungry. Never again.

WOW! Sahara Restaurant exceeded our expectations! Jamals warm hospitality, incredible food, and top-notch service made for an unforgettable night. The dishes were incredibly flavorful! And that heavenly baklava dessert? ABSOLUTE PERFECTION! Cant wait to return!

We recently had my sons wedding reception at Sahara. Our server Jamal was fantastic! If youre looking for delicious mediterranean food, and great space to host a party, Sahara is the place to go!

Overall food is pretty good but in comparison to other competitors like Jerusalem shawarma and turquaz this place is not even close. Restaurant is spacious but needs renovations.

I cant say enough about this restaurant. I have been eating Lebanese cuisine at restaurants all over North America for 20+ years and this is far and away the BEST Lebanese food I have EVER tasted. We ordered the set menu which gets you a taste of everything on the menu. It was extremely reasonably priced for what we got - lots of leftovers - and every bite was bursting with flavour - cooked well, to perfection. Fattoush salad and hummus are out of the park. Food was fast and service was excellent. We will be back to eat here again and again :) Vegetarian options: Youre in for a treat. Stuffed Grape leaves, salads and falafel, dips and pita...delish! Dietary restrictions: Lots of dairy free or meat free options

Been coming here once per week for years. They recently updated their menu and its even better than before. Try the burgers! Vegetarian options: Lots of Authentic Meidteranian Vegeterian options. I highly recommend the Spinache Hanbe or the Mouhamara. Parking: Lots of free parking space directly in front of the resteraunt and in the adjacent mall parking lot. Kid-friendliness: Very large interior. Large tables and booths. Kids are provided with colouring materials.

Very good food. it was empty when we went there, might be cuz it was early, so we were a little hesitant but honestly the food was absolutely amazing. even the portions are so good. definitely must come and eat here. Jamal was also super nice!!

Some of our groups food was cold and it took a while for it to come out. I also deliberately chose a wrap that didn t come with onions because I dislike them. However, when my food arrived, the wrap still had onions even though onions weren t listed on the menu. I tried some of the hummus and it was very good. But the main dish really took away from the whole experience. Our server was very kind.

We called to reserve a table to come to eat at the buffet. We were sure to ask if 7 would be too late and were told it would be ok. Took our reservation and when we arrived we were told the buffet was over and we can t come late. So our 45 minute drive basically was a waste. So I would have be giving 0 stars if I could.

Most cheapest experience i have ever had today at this sahara. I called them for the buffet reservation at 7 pm. They took my name and confirm the table and we reached there at 7:15 then they said they are not refilling any more food and the buffet is over which was supposed to happen till 8:30 and told us we can order from their regular menu. So why they did not mention anything when we called? Is that a trick that you invite people by offering low price and then tell them to order from regular menu?? What kind of cheapness is this? Wanted to rate 0*

Fantastic service and food! I looked up a restaurant that would be a good place to spend time with my family as we havent all had dinner together in years due to us all living in different parts of Canada. We had 5 adults and one toddler and i truly was so impressed at how accommodating our awesome server Joanne was. My family was a little indecisive with the menu but she was so patient and kind. The food was brought out quickly and it was delicious. The portions are huge so we had a lot to box up. Joanne was so kind to my elderly dad and my young son and she just made us all feel so special and comfortable. Next time I am in Edmonton, i will definitely be back! Thanks again.

The server did not ask us for our order for 15-20 minutes. The food was cold. We ordered kafta kebab with rice, but they did not provide a spoon! The water mug was broken as well. I really dont know why the rating is 4.5!!!!!!! It is definitely not!!!!!! I need to mention that we went on a Friday night. I cannot imagine how it would be on weekdays!

Nice place to go to. Food is good with reasonably good service. We visited the place at buffet. The food was missing most of the time and service was slow. But I guess it was more because people were taking big portions because they weren t sure if the item will be filled again. Food quality was good though. We had a booking but it seems many people came without booking and management didn t realize that letting everyone will create a chaos. I will give it a try one more time to see if they learned from their mistakes. Parking: Free parking lot. Kid-friendliness: Kids can move around and may have menu of their choice. Wheelchair accessibility: It is wheelchair accessible.

Dinner buffet on July 17. I don t know if this a one time sort of thing but the food was abysmal. From the food options to the food quality, it was extremely subpar. The food lacked flavour. The menu options may taste better, but judging on the buffet I will not be trying it out. The buffet was disappointing to say the least.

I was at Sahara for lunch with family and my overall experience here has been excellent. FOOD was fabulous and the service provided by Jamal was very good and he took the extra time to help us select the best items from the menu. Will be visiting again in the near future.

We went there for dinner. And let me start with the interior first. It is beautiful. Best for a family gathering. Next our server was Jamal. He was very friendly and nicely explained everything to us and also made some good suggestions. Based on that We ordered trio platter, salmon bowl and for dessert we had their delicious pistachios baklava which came with ice cream in it. Food was amazing no doubt on that. Specially I found their beef kebabs exceptionally flavorful. And everyone must try their baklava which is hands down the best baklava I ve ever tried. In short service, food was 5/5. But according to the portion of food, price is too high. We had 2 mains and 1 dessert and our bill came 72 with tips. Other than that our visit was pleasant over there.

We ate at Sahara for lunch on Saturday. The staff was extremely friendly, and set the atmosphere for a great time. The menu is extensive, offering a great variety of Mediterranean cuisine, burgers, and even sushi. We were a little surprised that they do not serve alcohol as we were looking forward to enjoying a glass of wine with our meal; do not allow that to make you pass on the Sahara. In an instant, that was no longer a concern. Their array of mocktails is impressive and their house special drink was amazing. It was a delicious, one of a kind, mocktail served with passion fruit, mango, and fresh berries, with ice, and a sprig of mint. I absolutely recommend this restaurant!

One of the best lebanese food Ive tried in a long time. Amazing! The atmosphere so nice, the waitresses were awesome, especially Jamal who made our afternoon excellent.

The food was extremely salty and oily. The service was terrible and servers seemed to be in rush. Not a friendly environment. I tried this restaurant based on the recommendations by a friend of mine, but I don t recommend it at all. Food : 3/5

We had the buffet, and I was very surprised and pleased with not only the selection, but the quality and cleanliness. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Kareem. Overall this is a beautiful establishment, with excellent food and wonderful staff. I will most certainly be back!

Every weekend we go to a restaurant for Iftar buffet and yesterday we went to Sahara..as part of the buffet they don t serve juice or drinks, no fruits and no dessert! We had to buy drinks separate when breaking fast. They also charged my 5 years olds the full buffet charge even though they didn t eat anything. I was told it was for the seat! Made no sense coz I can t leave my kids at home and come eat or shud I keep them in my lap??.. Left a really bad impression! Not going back ever!

The buffet was not good at all. The food was not fresh and was not edible and we couldnt finish our plates. The customer service was terrible we werent helped and asked if there was a desert the server said she would have to bring out to us. We asked for 2 deserts and got only one.She never said the desert was not included in the buffet and got charged for the desert when we got the bill. A total waste of $84.

Worst buffet I ever been to in my life. The food quality was horrible. Fries and chicken were dry, tasted a few days old. The pasta was very soggy. The ginger beef and salad tasted old as well. The only thing that was fresh was the soup, everything else tasted very much like leftovers from a previous day. Never seen a restaurant that charges $36 for a buffet that offers no desserts or juice, just water. The place was jam packed maybe 200 people there on a Saturday night for iftar and I was expecting high quality but it was the absolute opposite. Do NOT let the nice design and decor of the restaurant fool you, these guys will serve you leftovers.

Amazing service, excellent variety. quality food and great atmosphere. On Apil 3rd, 40 members of my family, friends and I had the buffet supper/ iftar at Sahara. The spread and variety were astounding, everything was just delicious! I had molokia, maqlouba, fatteh.meat and rice, fattoush , bava ghanoug, hommos, and grape leaves,: WARAK INAB..The variety meant that there was something for everyone. The children at our table were very happy with their mac and cheese, fries, chicken fingers, wings, pizza, , roast beef , and mash.All this wonderful variety for $34 a person. The children looked very happy as they used the mid stage as a place to play quietlly and have fun. What a great family restaurant! Our drinks were very tasty, I had a Mohito, it was just superb! Saharas is definitely in my top 5 restaurants to go to in Edmonton. I loved the food, appreciated the family atmosphere, and enjoyed the great customer service Everything was excellent. WouldI I dine there again soon? Absolutely.. Vegetarian options: Baba gannoug. Fatyoush, tabouleh,Falafel, hommos, rice, fries, mac and cheese, cheese pies.mashed potatoes, etc. Dietary restrictions: Gluten and dairy free food options . Over all good ambience. We went for Iftar buffet. They should revamp their Iftar buffet and add BBQ options. Lentil soup was best. Waiters should not avoid coming again and again and should stop pushing there famous drink and sweets. Keep asking same question by three different people it s bit annoying. However overall good ambience and experience.

Meh at most. Our server tried to upsell us appetizers and when I asked him about a drink s price (no drink menu or prices were available) he said it s not worth it to ask about the drink s price, which wasn t a great thing to say. The food portion was generous, but we are pretty sure the kafta and tawook were reheated and not fresh. Even the hummus and the pita bread were quite stale. The cheese samosas were tasty. Wouldn t come back again.

If I could....I would give a zero star. I went there today for a take out. The employee was extremely rude. The are having a wedding dinner there today. The employee told me to wait and see if the kitchen could accept my order. I waited for about 10 minutes and the employee never came back to give me an update. I never seen something like that. I saw the same employee going back and forth. He passed by where I was, and never said if the kitchen would accept my order or not. It appeared that they were doing me a favor. I will never go back there again.

The food was plentiful, delicious, and beautifully presented. The service was attentive, friendly, and timely. It is clearly a family-run operation and everyone involved was extremely welcoming. The restaurant has been in operation only since November, so there wasn t much of a Sunday morning crowd, but I m sure that will change as word gets out. The Lebanese fare also has so many healthy choices among a very substantial menu. I would recommend this to anyone who wants an enjoyable, healthy, and laid-back dining experience. First time trying and overall the food was excellent and the staff were super friendly and clearly passionate about explaining the food. The place was quite busy so it was a bit slow and we did have to ask quite a few times for water refills but we can forgive that since they were busy. We started with the mouhamara which is a spread with walnuts, pepper, pomegranate molasses and Arabian cheese. It was delicious! It was on the sweeter side but the Arabian cheese being quite salty did balance it a bit. For the mains we had the beef kafta wrap and the chicken taouk. Both were delicious and portions quite large. The rice that came with the taouk had almond shavings which was really good. The chicken was spiced perfectly and the garlic sauce that came with it was amazing! Will be back to try more dishes and would highly recommend.

I was with family to enjoy my sons birthday but was very disappointed with the food on the menu as most of it was not available we were told owners have changed and they want to stick to Lebanese cusine as they dont want indian or turkish or other cusine i wish the old owner had made a better choice and the current food we got was below average and also they charged tip of 20% on the bill making it look as a complete bill of our food i will never ever step there and not recommend it to anyone...i hope u guys make a wise decision with ur money

Had dinner here for the first time, the atmosphere, service and food were above and beyond. Super clean place and friendly staff. Thank you, will definitely come back. Highly recommended!

Absolutely delicious meal, fresh and well balanced flavours! This place is on my short list of places to return to! And our server, Andrew, was fantastic! Edit: Went back and enjoyed another meal here! The Turkish coffee and baklava were a fantastic way to finish our meal!

Went to eat at Sahara about 1 year ago and been wanting to go back since, we finally came back and the food was just as phenomenal as I remembered. I m looking forward to our next visit

First time ordering take out The salad was very old and the meat was black, too much spices and old and uncooked well I ate some of it and I m sick to my stomach And the fish Was so old we had to throw the whole order out Felt such a waste of money I m very upset It s such a money waste $60 for very bad quality of food Do not recommend Do not waste your money

I ordered two meals on Uber eats . I was given meals that wasn t even close to what I ordered when I called in to get this sorted out. The lady told me she was too busy to deal with this and was given no solutions on how we would fix this . I will no longer be ordering from this restaurant.

Loved the chicken, it was so soft and perfectly cooked. Fries were good. Ambiance was amazing along with the delicious food. Platter Goes well with fattoush salad. We also tried lamb and beef, lamb pieces were bit hard and chewy. But overall experience was fantastic.

The worst Lebaneses restaurant I ever tried. Food Price is overpriced, and food taste cant be from Lebanese cousin, and I will never go back again to this place. its not a matter of offering me a free meal but its a matter of principles of F&B customs. However, its a matter of changing the whole menu, prices, quality, quantity and the way how to serve the food which everything should be fair to bring customers to your restaurant again and again. I cant believe it Falafel Sandwich cost 15.95 dollars and chicken Shawarma cost one dollar more!!!!!!! Your high rent or minimum wages is not the customers problem. I am an expert in F&B and what you are doing is completely wrong if you keep running this restaurant the same way.

We came by for dinner and loved every dish we tried. The owner ensured we were looked after and service was amazing. Highly recommend if youre craving some Lebanese cuisine.

This place is very famous for the good food As I understand theres new management The food was magnificent those guys nail the Mediterranean cousin especially the lebanese/syrian I highly recommend a visit Although i do have a couple of points to adress The place looks dull Boring interior it feels like the 90s Otherwise its a fantastic place

We ordered the 3 course set menu. It was delicious! Andrew our server was welcoming, efficient and has a great sense of humour and charm to enhance the our dining experience today. I would highly recommend this restaurant. It looks like a wonderful venue for a wedding or banquet as well.

Nice place to have great Mediterranean cuisines with friends and family . Tried Chicken Shawarma wrap and Kebab plates .

We havent even left yet and Im happy to leave this review. The food was amazing, the portions were surprising, the service was great (thanks Joanne!) and the owner Karim (apologies if misspelled) came by to check on everything. This is our first visit for a birthday dinner and I couldnt be happier.

I was there for dinner with friends last week. The service was great! We even got to try dessert items that hadnt hit the menu yet. The food was delicious and we were all provided soup to start and tea to finish, along with the treats. Highly recommend!
