Modern twist to the Indian cuisine with a theatre of cocktail menu.
I visited Guru kitchen bar for the first time last weekend, and it was just amazing! It had a modern, chic feel to it, so it was perfect for going out at night. I ordered butter chicken and garlic naan; it's probably the best I have had in a while. The spices were balanced, and the portion was huge. The staff was attentive and friendly to ensure we had a great experience. I will definitely come back to this restaurant and try more dishes!
The food was absolutely 10/10—each dish was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. The ambiance was equally perfect, creating a warm and vibrant atmosphere. Despite being jam-packed, the service was smooth, and the energy added to the overall experience. Everything about the evening was flawless. I totally loved the experience and can’t wait to return. Highly recommend this gem!
I was in the mood for some good Indian food and I found this spot really close to my hotel and I came out of time when it was hardly anyone there which is cool because the service was super fast so I ordered this mango drink (I’m sorry I got started before I took the picture.) it was amazing then I went ahead and ordered the butter chicken with garlic naan, let me tell you this was so amazing. This is my only male of the day and I didn’t need anything else. I’m extremely satisfied. I think I might even go there tomorrow for lunch.
Came in for dine in with my friend. This was complete accidental visit to try out Indian cuisine. But so glad made a right decision to try out food at Guru kitchen. Absolutely Amazing Experience! Staff were friendly and polite. Our server, Erika(I hope I spelled right), had great smile and was so kind to suggest the famous signature dish! Tandoori chicken masala, I can’t say enough how delicious it was. Perfectly garnished with spiralled beets. The dish itself had unique texture and full of flavours. Chicken was tender! Ordered garlic naan with is. The naan was so soft and easy to chew, had great amount of garlic. Every bite of food was so delicious and so satisfying. Ambience was great, we went late so wasn’t busy and got our dishes within minutes. Okay! Their fixtures were good too! I have visited many Indian restaurants but Guru Kitchen has raised my expectations for the Indian food. Happy woman here!! Now I can go to work happily! Thank you for giving me such a lovely experience! Definitely RECOMMENDED!
Guru has set up a gorgeous space downtown Edmonton in the Ice District. The food is East Indian and is a blend of traditional dishes with a touch of modern fusion. Fresh ingredients, top end ingredients and beautiful presentation all make this a top notch experience. The service is very friendly and helpful. And what a great touch to have management visit the table. The space is stunning. Lots of windows let in natural light. Modern hip touches provide a wonderful ambiance. 5 x 🥘🥘🥘🥘🥘
I want to give this location 5 stars, and this is why: 1. We were the first to walk in here, and I would assume the owner Gurjeet welcomed us in a super friendly manner. The man took the time to introduce himself. No restaurant I have been to, the owner ever thanked us and made us feel like important people. Like a million bucks. 2. The service itself was amazing, the fact that everyone smiles and is assuring that we chose the right place for dinner. 3. The food was absolutely amazing and flavourful. A beautiful combination of spices that surly delighted our pallets. We will surely come back. 4. We were pleasantly surprised with a desert, free of charge, as this was our first time. Like, honestly now. This is a downtown restaurant. No one gives anything for free. Me and my wife are encouraging anyone who wants to try a traditional, classic, or modern Indian cuisine to come down and try for yourself. Prices are great, too. Enjoy
Our experience was outstanding!! We only did appetizers and drinks for a quick lunch. Warm and prompt service!! The chicken tikkas were really well marinated, juicy and tender, with a nicely balanced spice profile…really well cooked with the fresh mint chutney…just awesome!! Coming back to try their mains soon!!
From the outside, the restaurant looks small. But inside, you are welcomed by nice staff, the bar, and a warm atmosphere. The lady serving us was nice, and she had a few recommendations. The menu itself was easy to read. I like that it had different dishes than typical Indian restaurants. We had the mango chicken, beetroot kebab, and one more dish that I can't remember right now. I was surprised how good the beet root kebab was. I'm definitely coming back here. There's tons of parking across the street.
I love guru their butter chicken and veggie samosas are to die for they put me in the best food coma ever mmmmm so good
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, food is tasty and filling, beautiful presentation. But the shrimps were not peeled.
Very nice and clean place. Food was great.
They dont care theyre service is not professional
Wonderful food, warm-inviting ambiance, and excellent service. A restaurant. I ll definitely visit again!
I was sitting here on a busy Saturday on a home oilers game night. Erica was my server and she was absolutely amazing and very diligent at her job. If I was to review HER I would give her 10 stars out of 5. However, as someone that has worked in the service industry for many years, I noticed that there should be much improvement in management. The manager was counting wine bottles as the restaurant was getting packed due to the oilers game. The Oilers game was not on the tv, they ran out of menus, it took 15 minutes or more for people to get their drinks and people were standing at the door for 5 minutes to just get seated. Management should ve had more support for the server and bartenders.
Awesome place to eat! Veeresh and Rajendra were fantastic and really went the extra mile to help and give us top-notch service.
Worst customer service ever, I went there with my friends for dinner. Waiter behaved unprofessional, did not come to take order. Moreover, rudeness can be seen from his behavior and body language. It was like 24 minutes just feel ignored every single time and nobody came to attend us. Need to teach your team.
Some really cool vegetarian options here. Creative and tasty starters as well
First time trying Indian food in Canada, visiting from New York City - everything was so good!!! Highly recommend.
The food was really fantastic. Top notch- the grilled fish and veg samosas were amazing. Friendly, understated service and nice atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Without a doubt, Guru Kitchen + Bar is the best Indian restaurant in Edmonton. Highly recommended for anyone craving an unforgettable Indian dining experience.
We hosted a birthday party , they made custom menu for us and private just made the experience premium!
We dined in at the Guru Bar for a friends birthday dinner, and to my surprise, the team really made an effort to make it special. The family-style platters were accommodating so that everyone gets a variety, but of course, the highlight was indeed the goat curry, so tender and rich in flavor and goodness. It added a lot of elegance in the ambiance, and the staff also joined in singing Happy Birthday. They made our experience quite memorable.
over hyped. bad service.
Recently visited and had a great experience. The place was jam packed but still the staff managed so well, they were so attentive without being over-bearing. From start to end they exceeded our expectations. The servers are kind and help you navigate the menu. The flavors are unmatched ad every dish feels authentic. Cant wait to come back!
Guru Kitchen Bar has been my go to spot in the District for a while. Ambiance is trendy yet inviting, and service is impeccable. Prawn masala was so well cooked with a fragrance of spicy herbs that made every bit memorable. The dessert gulab jamun with saffron syrup - was a perfect sweet ending to a flawless meal. The fusion of such beautifully crafted cocktails with authentic Indian dishes is what makes Guru Bar special. The bartender truly deserves the praise.
Ive had one of the best chicken tikka masala at Guru Bar. Its tender, juicy chicken in a sauce with just the right amount of spice and creaminess. The truffle naan was a luxurious addition that elevated the whole experience. The fusion of traditional flavors with modern techniques is evident in every dish. Despite being busy, the service was top notch. The bartender recommended the Guru Mule, it was quite refreshing and expertly mixed. From service to ambiance, everything was flawless.
Hidden Gem in the Heart of Edmonton! The place definitely deserves all the hype for its ambiance, flavors, and staff. We tried the samosas and butter chicken-they were absolutely incredible. The service was quick but never rushed. Great place for impressing your guests or just a treat for yourself!
Food was excellent. It was busy when we arrived and had to wait about 5 minutes until someone even acknowledged us. Everything else was good.
Hey, last night i was at GuRu Kitchen + Bar Ice District I ve never had such a frustrating dining experience. When one person at our table asked for water, they brought it to them but didn t bother offering it to anyone else. Seriously? Who does that? Water is a basic necessity, especially when you re eating, and the fact that we had to ask again to get it for the rest of us is beyond ridiculous. I just had there and eat paneer butter and dal makhani. honestly, it was awful. The paneer butter tasted really bitter, and the gravy wasn t even proper gravy it was more like a runny sauce. As for the dal makhani, it was so bad it felt like something you d serve a child. I expected way better quality from you guys. Overall, it was a really disappointing experience. To make things worse, the bartender who served our food barely acknowledged us. He didn t check in, didn t care if we needed anything when we finished d food and basically ignored us the whole time. The vibe was cold, unfriendly, and completely off-putting. It was like we were invisible! Never recommend this place to anyone!!!!! The fact that something as simple as water is an issue here says it all. Between the unprofessional service, lack of basic courtesy, and an atmosphere that s just dead, this place is a disaster. I wouldn t recommend it to anyone, and I definitely won t be back. Awful experience at this @Guru kitchen + Bar Ice District
Food was decent, nothing spectacular or to rave about. Nothing came with sides. Want naan with your butter chicken? $8. Rice ? $8. On top of your $25 bowl. And, when I went to pay, the lady automatically selected a 30% tip! I got the machine and it was $30 higher than my bill! Beware. This was the only place with walk in available in the ice district during a pre season game; and it explains it.
Worst indian food in town, charges like crazy but food is like you are eating water with salt, will never come back
Service is ok but food is the pretty bad
Erica greeted us with warmth and a bright smile, immediately making us feel comfortable. Shes approachable and easy to talk to, offering excellent recommendations if youre unsure what to pick. Paneer tikka was great.
Great Food and atmosphere, it s a gem!
very friendly service and staff. good selection of food choices and drinks. love their gulab jamun cheesecakes. also the meals are very well proportioned. Food : 5/5 |
Overall great. However, I found the food salty and very expensive for what I could get at a similar restaurant such as Bedouins or Savoy at the same quality. You pay for your food being plated nicer and the ambience. Expect to spend double what you would at a typical Indian restaurant.
Amazing food. Best Indian restaurant in Edmonton.
Went for lunch and got their lunchc specials the price and servicing sizes were amazing and there is free parking downstairs. Will go again for sure !
Every time I come here I am always delighted. The service is always incredibly friendly, the food is always delicious. The Naan bread is to die for, and they don t skimp out on the portions. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who likes delicious Indian food.
The food there was great staff had excellent serviceHighly recommend for a night out
Dear Gurjeet, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care you provided to my family. The food was incredibly delicious, and we are truly grateful for the outstanding service provided by your staff. Every member of my family thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We cannot thank you enough for all that you did to make my wedding day unforgettable. Thank you to your entire team from the bottom of my heart. Additionally, the personalized congratulation note on the TV screen was a very thoughtful touch. We are delighted that we chose GURU to celebrate our wedding. Warm regards, Preety & Kevin
For an elevated Indian dining experience, look no further this is the place to be. The ambiance is fantastic, and the staff is wonderful. Their drinks are unique, and the wine options are impressive. My only complaint is the parking, which can be challenging to find, especially on weekends. It s a bit of a task to park nearby.
Not worth the price , and the taste is not upto the mark .
Beautiful ambience, mouth watering food and tasty drinks. Highly recommended.
Can t rate less than 1 star because it s not allowed.. I would recommend all my family not to try here. Their face drops seeing us & gives you feel of racism.
I don t understand how this place has any 5 star reviews. The food is good, I will give them that. The service omg.. you ll be in for a treat, it s basically Indian fine dining but without the fine dining experience, you ll sure pay for it though. Would not recommend
The service is non existent because when you show up for your pick up order, the restaurant is closed. Please don t accept pick up orders when your location is closed.
I came here twice during a recent visit to Edmonton. I encountered Andrew at the bar and Iry serving both times. And they are both wonderful, could not ask for a more courteous pair of employees. Im mainly a beer drinker and they have a few choices but Andrew was quite patient as I found a wine I enjoyed. Andrew and Iry both were very helpful with ideas for things for me to see while I was in their city. Iry suggested the Cauliflower 65 when I didnt want a full meal and it was delicious. Ive never had cauliflower that good before. Thank you both for everything you did and I wish you well in the future.
Delicious spicy butter chicken and very good garlic naan bread. I was there during an Oilers playoff game and the atmosphere was excited in the neighborhood, although a little quiet in the restaurant. Contrary to what we sometimes read about downtown Edmonton, this experience was most pleasant! The employees at Guery Kitchen are very attentive, communicative and really kind. Albertans in Edmonton take great care! Vegetarian options: I asked for a few vegetarian options and was recommended the Palak Paneer . I ended up eating the butter chicken, but the menu is full of vegetarian options, like any good Indian restaurant. Dietary restrictions: I was asked if I had any allergies or other dietary restrictions. This is not the case, but it shows that the restaurant cares.
I went here with my family. The server was really good but we were looking for good options in main course but we did not get much so we just had starters and drinks. When we asked for bill the person who took our bill was super rude i mean what do u think that i am indian and i will not tip what a racist person. I wish i knew your name.
Great food and ambiance! They are mindful of the spice level too!
Good food. Ambiance is superior. And A1 customer service.
I went to downtown location with family for dinner. Everything was exceptional. We ordered few appetizers, main course, desserts and chai at the end of our meal. Our server, Chelsea (i am sorry if that s wrong ) was great.
I recently dined at Guru Kitchen + Bar Ice District, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The ambiance is simply amazing, creating the perfect setting for a memorable evening. The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. What truly set the evening apart was the impeccable service. Erica, the floor manager, went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was flawless. Her friendly demeanor and attention to detail made us feel incredibly welcome and well-cared for. I cant recommend Guru Kitchen + Bar Ice District highly enough its a must-visit for anyone looking for great food, outstanding service, and a fantastic atmosphere. Thank you, Erica, and the entire team, for making our night so special!
Good food. Butter chicken was nice and spicy as requested. Chicken breast pieces were overcooked. Fried cauliflower, but too many pieces where it was only dough and no actual cauliflower inside. Again, slightly overcooked. Naan was delicious.
Excellent Indian cuisine perfect spot to go after the hockey game. Go Oilers!!
Amazing staff, especially the bartender Andrew, he really knows how to multitask and has great recommendations and knowledge; definitely recommend checking this place out!
Wow wow wow... First time ever seen this kind of welcoming nature of a bartender. An excellent personality and charming nature. Talking about food... Amazing, tasty and infinite delicious food. Must must visit place in downtown Edmonton.
I ordered take out for lunch two hours in advance and they were 30 minutes late. They were completely unapologetic. Terrible service I will never go back.
This place was suggested for lunch and as a person who is not from Edmonton, I was curious to explore. Service was excellent and attentive. Ample of space with great ambiance. I ordered mango chicken (which was creamy and think, a hint of sweetness)which came with scoop of rice and a fluffy and soft naan. Food was flavourful and delicious. Lot of choices of anyone who would like to enjoy some good quality food.
We ordered Mango chicken and Beef vindalou. The flavours were delicious, however the meat in both dishes was quite dry. We were served by a nice waiter who tried to show off and do a bar pour trick. The pour was so foamy and he spilled some of my husbands beer while doing it. My husband would have rather drank from the can.
Fantastic hidden gem especially pre/post hockey game. Food is top notch, impressive wine list and drinks/cocktails don t disappoint!
Great food and the cocktails are some of the best in Edmonton, friendly service and great atmosphere, definitely one of my favorite places in Edmonton
I went there with co-workers during on one of the dining week day. We all love the food! Some people may find certain dish not spicy enough, but we like it (thats why I give 4 starts... actually I want to give 4.5 starts. Indian food, most people wpuld expect alittle more spicy.). The naan is really good too! (forgot to take some of the photos - naan and mango chicken).
Booked my bday party back in Feb as they have dj night every last day. Invited my friends but the owner called a day prior to the party that it s not happening. If you knew it s not happening at least let me know a long time ago so I can plan something. Never coming back again. When I told him I will be coming there to talk in person he refused to see me and the server told me he s not in.
The Friday evening excursion to Guru Bar and Restaurant in downtown Edmonton left much to be desired. Despite the spacious ambiance, the reception was lackluster, and our seating arrangements were protracted. Throughout the evening, the staffs attention was conspicuously absent, necessitating persistent efforts to place orders amidst a backdrop of leisurely conversations between the bartender and a companion. Upon finally receiving our food, the taste proved adequate but failed to compensate for the overarching sense of neglect. It is evident that substantial improvements are imperative across various facets of the establishment. Enhanced staff training, bolstered staffing levels, heightened customer engagement, meticulous quality control, and vigilant management oversight are imperative to reinvigorate the dining experience at Guru Bar and Restaurant. Wake up guys ! You are overpriced and understaffed !
Dietary restrictions: Amazing food, Really friendly staff shout out to Andrew for being such a great host/server/bartender. Theyre not just selling the food, theyre selling a whole experience. I am definitely gonna pay you guys another visit next time when i am in edmonton. Recommended dishes
The restaurant is beautiful, very classy and stylish. The food is some of the best Indian cuisine I ve ever had, and as a vegetarian we try a lot of Indian restaurants. The best in the city by far! Vegetarian options: Had the butter paneer and daal makhani, and herbed naan. Absolutely amazing!
I ve been here 9 times It was a great time ever with my friends ERICA and Andrew are the best managers I ll give them 100/100 now and years to come Big love
Great spot downtown for cocktails and dinner that are sure to please. Gurjeet and his staff will make sure you have a great experience. Well worth a visit.
Guru is indeed highly regarded among the Indian restaurants in Edmonton. Renowned for its exquisite flavors and diverse menu offerings, Guru has garnered praise for its authentic Indian cuisine and attentive service. Many patrons commend the restaurant for its cozy ambiance and welcoming atmosphere, making it a favorite spot for both casual meals and special occasions. Reviewers often highlight dishes such as butter chicken, lamb curry, and various vegetarian options, all prepared with skillful execution and using high-quality ingredients. If youre seeking an exceptional dining experience with a taste of India in Edmonton, Guru is definitely Worth a visit & Gurjeet singh is the best
Place is overpriced, service is awful (understaffed?), food is good though $135 for 2 people Went here on a Friday evening, walked in, the place was empty - we were the first table. Food took about 2h to come out, it came out in a weird order we had 2 curry s on the table but no naan or rice to eat it with? which we ordered at the same time lol . had to wait another 20min for the side dishes to come out, curry got pretty cold by then, I do have to give it to them, the food was good, even cold. Mandatory 20% tip on any group of 6ppl and up - which is a guaranteed piss poor service. They apparently offer 3H free parking as per their receipt? - you ll need to call ahead to find out what and where, I didn t not test this out myself.
Incredible food,drinks and service,highly recommend.
The masala vegetable dish clearly had frozen carrots, peas and green beans, and then fresh vegetables added. If Im paying $23 for a vegetable dish, they should all be fresh. The butter chicken, saffron rice, and garlic naan were all good but I had higher expectations because of the price.
The server that helped me was very nice, quick at her job. The food was good, the shrimp is the best on the menu! Will go again.
staying at the jw Marriot, we were looking for something close for dinner. We had our 2 year old with us which limited options however this group was extremely accommodating. Food was delicious and full of flavour. More so, the service was impossible to beat. Andrew the bartender saw our 2 year old sipping my wife s zero alchohol drink and ran over to let us know that there is a hidden seed in the drink that she could choke on. The old fashioned and berry gin drink were wonderful. Kelsey was serving us and made us feel like she genuinely cared about our experience and wasn t just going through the motions of serving. We would 100% come back next time we are in town. A very impressive and diverse menu! Thank you everyone.
Erica helped us while we were there. She was lovely and very accommodating. Food was great. We will be back!
Great Experience and service . Erica is amazing with customer Service Food : 5/5
Service was a let down. Safe to say service won t be great when they charge an automatic gratuity of 20%
walked in and was not greeted by anyone waited 15 mins until we asked the bar if we could sit at the bar to be told to take a table so we did then greet by a unprofessional waitress asking if we had a resavation to be left for over 30 mins with out anything not even a hello thank you or water ! i understand its game day and its busy but come on guys be friendly & poilet dont make people feel not welcome or they wont spend there money and write reviews ive been a long standing customer off guru on the west side for over 5 years never ever had this kind off service. rushed and no value for money beside the food is amazing kudos to the food. service is terrible lady was rude and dismissive...im really disappointed for a local owned and oparated as i allways support these kind off business. then sons food cokes.out before anyone elses at least 20 mins before the rest thatvaint right when we all ordered the same starter ?
Its closed
Food was delicious and Aman helped us to get the drinks we were craving for.
Went here new years Eve for pre Oilers game. Fantastic food. Great service. Very well done atmosphere restaurant.
One of my favorite place, amazing authentic Indian cuisine, great people, staffing are fantastic
Good atmosphere, really good service as they were training a new waitress, so someone was at our table every 4 min lol. Food was really good.
Great food, good service. Comfortable atmosphere Recommended dishes
Went to the downtown location for dinner. Ambience and sitting is very pleasant. The food and cocktails were okay but portion size were small. Good food presentation though. Dessert was a bit disappointing.
The food and service was outstanding. Thank you to Executive Chef, Suman Sarkar and the staff for going above and beyond our expectations!!!
Just returned from a lovely dinner and loved everything about the place! The food the service the comfort everything was on point . And I especially want to mention Aman here our host who was so pleasant and warm. She made sure all the members even the kids were comfortable! Highly recommend!
As an Indian foodie, I have very high standards for what constitutes a good Indian food place. Regarding Guru, all I can say is that if you want DELICIOUS, North-Indian food, this is the place to go. The Cauliflower 65 is a must buy, and the Naan Basket is abundant and worth every penny, and boy does the Tandoori Chicken Masala hit the right spot. The service is exceptional, with our server, Kiana, always at hand for any necessities. Upon mentioning that it was our anniversary, the Chef even complemented a delicious chocolate cake dessert, we couldnt have asked for more. A must-visit if you around the Ice District, not just for the food, but the immaculate vibes as well. 5/5 stars.
First time coming here and the service was exceptional. They asked if we had any allergies which most places don t. Friendly staff great food. It was my first time having butter chicken and it was fantastic. The naan was amazing I totally recommend the garlic naan. Will totally come back again
Beautiful restaurant- great service and awesome food! The cauliflower appetizer was amazing must try! Would recommend!
Food was delicious and service was excellent, our server elena was very kind and quick. Will be coming back again.
We showed up on a quiet night and was provided 5 star hospitality. Everything was amazing; from the specialty drinks to the authentic cuisine. We enjoyed our experience so much, planning on going back after the Oilers game!
Love love love the cauliflower. My other fav is mango chicken and the naan, which goes without saying. Service is friendly and quick, a must when you want to be on time for the hockey game Vegetarian options: Wide array of vegetarian options, as should be for an Indian restaurant
No taste as chicken and paneer curry have same base, not a quality one and very pricy at the same time. Big disappointment to come here and waste the money.
Though it was very busy,Service and food was spot on. Very good concept for game night menu. Highly recommended
Recommend
The food was amazing with a great taste and beautiful presentation. The manager was so friendly and welcoming as well. Definitely recommend going here for delicious Indian food!
Nice indian food but a bit expensive of course due to location
5 stars for hospitality...HOLLY was fabulous in her service...We were not too impressed with cocktails and we let sever know about it... She got the mixologist and made the drinks according to our taste.. This type of hospitality is RARE specially in Indian restaurants..Food was Great on Flavors and Perfectly presented.. We were hoping TO HAVE some high end mixology as we read great deal about it on their website..But cocktails that we ordered initially were less than a sports bar standard and we gave that feedback to the server. Restaurant management took that feedback positively and did their best to make a cocktail to our taste.. Very pleased to see Indian Place to set high standards of Hospitality in Edmonton... Will definitely return and try rest of their food and drinks... Must visit place in Edmonton
For the love of god, invest in a greeter! Every single time I have been here I have had to wait between five and ten minutes to even be acknowledged once I ve entered the restaurant. Today, it was busy, but most of my visits, it hasn t been. No one goes to the back door entrance through which all the people who work in the tower enter. If you can t man that door, lock it. I was not alone standing there waiting for someone to greet and seat. Thank god I was just there for takeout because while I was being ignored at that entrance, several people were seated from the other one. And I was there well before them. Twice I ve had to walk through the restaurant and try to find someone. Please, hire a greeter!
You will not regret visiting this gem! Wonderful experience every single time im drooling just thinking about it
Great place, love the food here!
Great meal. Excellent service. Great location.
Amazing drinks and very friendly staff. If you are confused on what to get the staff are incredibly helpful
Went to dinner with a friend before Oilers game. Food and drinks were delicious and flavourful. Love the small plates to share. Holly was our server and she was amazing. She was very fun, sweet, engaging and attentive to us. Will be back soon!
One of the best Indian fine dine restaurants in town
Weve been to Guru at the Ice District a couple of times and have thoroughly enjoyed each dining experience. Guru is a modern take on Indian cuisine. Id recommend the grilled chicken tikka, vegetable samosas, butter chicken, beef vindaloo, raita, and gulab jamun. Also, the naan is exceptional! Parking: Underground parking available - no need to pay. Let the front staff know youve parked underground and provide your plate # to register your vehicle.
Some of the best food which we have had. We had a group booking hear and they even stayed half our later to accommodate us. The bartender was great. Sever was a little unprofessional but not. A big deal as the food was AMAZING. highly recommend
Kid-friendliness: They recommended dishes f9r my son and provided a high chair. Food
Whats a great atmosphere! Food quality on point! Bar is very nicely setup with a great view. 5/5
Everything was delicious! The best naan I ve ever eaten! our service was great very friendly We also got the butter chicken samosas which we enjoyed as well
Overall I enjoyed my time at Guru. The atmosphere, the food was delicious, the person helping us was amazing and answered any questions and gave us recommendations. I have been out of the loop on tipping and restaurant, the only thing I didnt like was an automatic 18% thank goodness I had my debit.
Great experience and great value. Highly recommend trying some of their creative cocktails, the charcoal shrimp and garlic naan, but we loved everything
Great food and customer service!
I have had many amazing experiences at this wonderful restaurant! Every person who helped me was so kind. The food was amazing and they helped me find some delicious dairy-free options. They even made me some unique cocktails when I didnt know what to choose as a drink. I highly recommend Guru!!
The best Indian food Ive tried in Edmonton! The flavour and spices balance out perfectly. Love the staff and atmosphere. Cozy dining during lunch,, gets very crowded during dinner. Highly recommend making a reservation. Everything I tried tasted amazing especially the Paneer and Apricot Kofta
Awesome food and awesome ambience..also staff is very friendly...go to place.
One of the very best Indian Restaurant in Edmonton. Located on posh and prime downtown area of city. Great Restaurant for Indian Food lovers.
We had dinner and it was good. I would like to suggest that the Dal tadka in I cant find any Tadka. its not Indian style dal Tadka.
Great hospitality and delicious food.
The food was delicious and the presentation was 10/10. Our server Holly was great. She was personable, caring, kept our table clean and gave great service which is hard to find these days. We also got visited by a manager and were invited to a weekend event. Overall we had a wonderful experience and we will definitely be coming back. Thank you!!
Beautiful, upscale space marries beautifully with the amazing food and excellent service. The Fish Moilee was perfect with the hot and crispy Naan. Thank you for the tea suggestion, a wonderful way to complete my meal. I will be back soon.
Not recommending. Food did not taste good, no way near the amount we spent, Service was slow, like they dint even serve us water, we have to ask for it twice. Mango lassi tasted so bad that even extra sugar didnt help. My kids love mango chicken and kofta, but this time, they just ate gravy dint ate chicken or kofta at all. 2 stars only because of good karma drink and Naan basket.
We had our anniversary dinner here with the family. The ambiance of the place is superb, and the staff has managed to keep the place clean and tidy. The decor is modern with a touch of traditional India. We were immediately greeted by the host as we entered the establishment and were seated promptly. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Paneer and Apricot Kofta with the assorted Naan basket. The portion sizes were enough for 4 adults, and the service time to serve the food was fast. Chicken Tikka Masala had a tandoori seared chicken breast in a viscous tomato gravy. The gravy had a touch of tartness because of the tomatoes, and it worked well with the tandoori flavor of the chicken. The kofta were crisp from the outside and creamy inside. The Apricot flavor was evident in the dish and, in my personal opinion, made it taste better than the Chicken Tikka Masala. The restaurant provides complimentary parking in the parkade in the Edmonton Tower.
Im new to this cuisine, I loved it. Very fresh ingredients, superb tastes. There are super friendly staff to help guide me through the menu. Cocktails are superior. Gurjeet is one of the friendliest and best dressed GM in downtown. Highly recommend Food
Real authentic indian food especially the garlic naan
This is such a perfect Indian restaurant. The food was stellar(chicken masala, coconut rice), drinks were cool(smoked old fashioned). Great service, very nice.
I was really hesitant to join some family and friends here for dinner. I thought there was no way Id like the food.. and didnt like the food, I LOVED it!!! So much flavor and just absolutely delicious. Cant wait To go back! Food
We love Indian food, and this was honestly the best weve ever had. The icing on the cake was the awesome Indian cocktails crafted by Gurjeet, an expert mixologist!
The food was sooo flavourful. The manager and supervisor were beyond amazing. The atmosphere felt nice and cozy. Would definitely recommend!
So yummy! We had their Naan to start, beef vindaloo and masala. Delicious and the portions were just right. Beautifully decorated and superb service.
Best drinks in town
I only had some simple paneer and rice. I could only imagine how the other menu items are. The Paneer and coconut rice was the best I ve ever had in my life. Ambiance and cleanliness is superb. Service was great as well!! Was staying at the hotel accross the street and it s my last night in Edmonton. Wish I came before. Will definitely be back on my next edmonton trip.
Place with a good atmosphere, excellent food and the girl named Julia gives spectacular service and knows the product. 10/10
Was here with my family while on vacation. Excellent food and amazing service. We tried guru chakana, grill chicken,Paneer masala, tandoori roti basket and steam rice. Every dish was 5/5 and sufficient quantity. Our server Tima was very helpful while making selection for our order, and checked very often if everything was ok. Absolutely recommended place for an authentic Indian fine dining experience. Attaching Dow pics for your reference.
I loved the food, and it was delicious. The staff was professional and knew what they were doing.
This gem needs to be discovered, enjoyed and appreciated. The best server youll ever meet or find works here and her name is Erica. Shell make you smile, feel welcomed, is funny, charming, knowledgeable and wonderfully beautiful. I recommend you ask for Erica when you dine in. Shes petite & super sweet! The atmosphere and energy is wonderful here. The food is authentic, tasty and will keep you coming back. It has everything you need, Erica, the atmosphere, and the food. Youll love this place! Youll love Erica!
Awesome food, definitely try the chicken Marsala Burrito
The location of the restaurant is great, in ice district. We entered the restaurant and were greeted warmly. As it was not crowded we got to choose our seat and even changed it after 10 mins as we found booth better. Staff is very friendly, they helped us choose the dish. We ordered Butter paneer and garlic naan, naan were delicious and very soft. But the butter paneer was not that great, although it can be subjective as I am not a big fan of butter sweetness. Quantity was good for 2. We ordered rocket singh, whisky based cocktail and a beer. Pricing for the cocktail and beer is good but I felt veg dishes were overpriced as compared to non-veg. I would love to visit again for their cocktails, presentation is just marvellous. As can be seen in the video also. Would love to try their cauliflower 65 also.
This place is awesome!!! First time definitely not my last!! Had all appys and they were absolutely perfect Can t wait to come back
A great dining experience with unique and delicious cocktails.
This restaurant is one of the finest, high end fusion restaurant in Edmonton. The food was presented exceptionally well and taste was impeccable. Would recommend
I m extremely upset by what just happened at Guru. Not only was the service extremely slow and bad (we were there for 3 hours!!!) they gave my friend with a nut allergy a free dessert (it was her birthday) and when she had an allergic reaction they were VERY dismissive, didn t even attempt to help or show any sort of concern and were actually GOSSIPING about her! The food was good but the people who work there are terrible and don t seem to care at all about their customers. If I had a customer who was clearly in distress I would at least try to help, not glare and talk badly about them. Will never be coming back!
Came tonight for dinner. Ordered the guru old fashioned and what was brought to me was one of the best cocktails I have ever had! Halfway through the drink my server brings out a second drink and informed me that there was a mistake and that the old fashioned I had received was made with the house made spice liqueur and was missing the bourbon! The actual old fashioned was delicious, but the one without whiskey needs to be added to the menu! We also had the butter chicken and a masala along with a couple of the rice dishes. All the food was spectacular. Overall the service was fantastic, drinks were amazing, and the food delicious. Made for an entirely memorable start to an evening out. Look forward to our next visit!
Easily 4 or 5 stars on the food. Had a vegetable dish, buttered chicken naan bread and wine. All were very good especially the bread dipped in the chicken sauce. But they pushed their suggested tipping in front of me and they are out of line. Our meal was $100, now in the past, maybe 25 years ago, the same dinner would be $50 and an expected tip back then would have been 10 to 15%. About $6 or $7. So why is doubling the tip to $15 today NOT good enough? Please don t say tips need to go up because of inflation, the price of the food and wine goes up over times so the tip percentage should remain the same, it s simple math. Their payment machine suggested a choice of 18, 20, 25 and 30%. I put in my custom amount of 15. They are embarrassing themselves. Canadians are going to start looking for no tip restaurants. Pay your staff appropriately and stop abusing us.
Amazing food Amazing stuff!! Will recommend!!
Good food, good services. I tried the lamp curry, it was really good
Unfortunately, we were unimpressed with the food here, the calamari and ginger beef seemed frozen bagged at best and the oil they were deep fried in was clearly old as everything is very dark. Only reason Im giving it 4 stars is I feel bad that I didnt have the heart to tell the bartender how bad these appies were. Its unfortunate as the place should easily be packed but it isnt. Go to browns social house and fat a calamari lesson. May try it again next game. We shall see. Best of luck.
The food was super tasty. The staff was welcoming and accommodating. This is a great place for groups of people. Best if you share so you get to sample a bit of everything.
Very good restaurant near Rogers Place!
I d love to visit again. Id recommend it as a nice place to go with friends, family, or a partner. Do try their famous Butter Chicken. One of my favourite for Indian fine dining!
Very nice ambience... Staff is also good... Just no parking space...
Service was ok, however Im very disappointed by the food. My friend and I planned to share lunch but it was a poor experience. There was so little meat and rice in the Fish Moilee ($27), we didnt end up sharing the dish. Only two vegetable samosas came on the small plate order, however we were told there would be three. The samosas were small and lacked the spice and heat I typically love. I had also selected a dessert platter ($12) and was told that it came with gulab jamon, cheesecake and fresh fruit. I expected this to be one of the best parts of the meal. Instead we got two gulab jamon balls, two 1inch squares of cheesecake and a strawberry cut in half, spread over a massive plate. The cheesecake had zero flavour and looked like it came from a grocery store. One half of the strawberry was very bruised. I couldve eaten the whole dessert plate on my own. The $4 coffee I requested to go, came in a Boston Pizza paper cup and tasted watered down. I know prices have gone up but I will not return for this quality or quantity of food.
Clean and appropriate for family with little kids
I dont usually review delivery orders but I have had a run of not so good Indian food delivery lately and Guru downtown has totally restored my faith in Indian takeout. The tandoori chicken was thick and juicy. The beef Vindaloo was melt in your mouth tender and perfectly spiced. The chocolate lava cake was well the icing on the cake :) I will definitely visit in person soon.
Much better experience at this location than the West End location. We came here after an Oilers game and we decided to grab a bite to eat. The sardar (I think he may have been the manager) made a world of a difference! He made us custom shots and ensured we had everything we needed in terms of food and drinks. The food itself was a little better, I think the key is to have things in small quantities. But Im glad we gave this location a chance!
We had a great time!! Food, drinks at atmosphere was awesome. Thank you for taking great care of us.
Rather small portions for the prices asked. Food was tasty but nothing other Indian restaurants cannot provide for better prices and bigger portions. I guess the hype and location explain the high bill
Very good location. Restaurant size is good. I was impressed to see wine collection! Palak Paner was the best. Tandoori chicken masala was good too. Shrimp curry was ok. But duck was chewy. Nann was very good . Server did excellent job. Parking was a challenge. Very good washroom. Recommend others to try this restaurant.
I would recommend Khazana restaurant over them. Their food wasn t good at all. No taste They would Charge 18% gratitude on just six people. And thats without informing you.
The food was flavourful, the staff was helpful and we left feeling quite full. We went on a Friday evening and we didnt wait long for the food either. We will definitely be going back.
Food was good but the cauliflower appetizer was all deepfried batter and some had no cauliflower in them. Would not recommend. Mango chicken and Naan were good.
The food is 10 * out of 5. We had the halibut and it was said at our table that it was one of the best dishes one of us has ever eaten. The food was perfectly spiced and layered to allow for an amazingly different flavor in each dish. Sadly even though the restaurant was not busy I have to take a star away for the slow service. We will definitely be back for the food!
good expensive place if you can afford...i like some of the new way of Appetizers ....mains was average.....
Delicious and amazing food Presentation extra ordinary
Had been wanting to give this place a try for a while now. Overall, pretty disappointed with the taste of the food. I enjoyed the naan however the butter chicken was excessively salty. Very kind and hard working staff though!
We requested vegan dishes before we got there. I was so impressed with the dishes they prepared, from starters to main course. I love to go back there. Absolutely a 5 start
I loved the place and food! Taste was amazing! We had Lamb Chop and Chicken Masala ( it was the best one that I had so far) . Highly recommended! Staff was very helpful for our dietary restrictions. Only regret I forgot the take a photo . Definitely will come back!
My personal suggestion everyone should go there once if they like indian food. Their food was really delicious and bartender (Manish) made very nice drinks. If someone like to enjoy indian brand s drinks then it is right place there.
I really like this place to visit when we crave for indian food. My last visit was fabulous as we served with really fresh food and the bartender named manish makes us very delicious cocktails and provides us outstanding service.highly recommended place.
Delicious food served by awesome server Aman
I love the food of Guru Kitchen & Bar.
Thank you making my day special with delicious food and extremely good serving by AMAN
Great food and fairly reasonable prices. Would go back again for sure!
Delicious food and cocktails. Great service. Extensive wine collection. Will definitely come back.
The service was genuine, personalized, and just overall amazing. The atmosphere has great vibes, it s dark and cozy but still extremely classy. Manish was a great bartender, treated us like regulars when it was only our first time visiting. I will be back just to see him! (And also eat the tandoori chicken masala)
Manish is an amazing bartender. Very talented and has a great personality. Quality drinks. Service with a flare. He is amazing. The food is 10/10 always.
This was an amazing experience... Cant say enough... The food was phenomenal... The drinks were amazing... All so good! We were served by Manish, he made the perfect recommendations, great choices. Will definitely visit again!!!! Loved it!!
This restaurant definitely impressed. The food was amazing and the cocktails were spectacular. The manager and service was very dedicated and friendly. With no doubts we will keep coming back!
I visited the place for the first time... The food is really delicious and their presentation style is way too awesome.. Their staff is also good specially Manish who helped us try best food in the restaurant.
This place awesome, the service is like no other they are so courteous. Lets get to the good part.. the food. My favorite is the garlic nan and the mango chicken. The location is nice and conveniently located downtown
Ive eaten here a couple times. The curries are delicious (especially the dhal, butter chicken and vindaloo). The only issue I have is both times they were very skimpy on the amount of meat was given in the curries.
Went there for my 1st time yesterday the service was excellent Bang on he had good jokes and so did we the food was delicious and lots of it was nice and quiet during the day when we went at lunch time just after the law and trust I suppose and it was great super fabulous we will go back for sure good job people keep it coming I think that my husbands food was just a little spicy for him and thats OK because it was delicious tasting and other than that they have a huge wine list I wish it would have had time to drink a bottle The thanks again the service was excellent the food was beyond delicious and good job thank you for a good restaurant With ethnic food in the ice district Woo hoo
Many years of perfect food. I make the extra long drive for Guru never disappoints. Update: Went to the downtown location. Food and service was equally excellent when compared to the west end location. Highly recommend.
Was treated differently compared to others. However the restaurant, food, vibe, everything is really good, would recommend to others.
Amazing food, cocktails, service and ambience. If you re headed to an oilers game or just out for dinner downtown, make sure Guru is your first stop! Tandoori wings were so delicious that I burst into tears.
Overall a good experience. Food was speedy, without the loss of quality. Only downside was the amount of spice requested in a friends dish. It was requested to be as spicy as possible, but was equivalent to a mild - medium at best. Service was friendly and efficient. If youre wondering if you should go, absolutely try it out. Will be returning at some point. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Friendly Options
Manish was an excellent mixologist, great service friendly hospitality, all around great experience
Food was really good and presentation was great and Aman is amazing server and we had food from her recommendation and it was just amazing Great food and great service.
