Braven in Edmonton

The food was tasty and we enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. Our server Lisa is outstanding; she is warm, welcoming and pays close attention to details. We will be back, especially in her section.

Great food, fast service on a hockey game night with a packed house! Truly this is a 4.3-4.4 star restaurant, lower the prices by 10% its a 4.7. Food : 5/5

Not worth the price. Food was average at best. I had the sushi- not good, my husband had the Mac n Cheese - flavourless. Basically some overcooked pasta with a white sauce. The only saviour was the Brussel sprouts. The drinks were not dressed nice, took very long to arrive and were very flat, all the food took forever to arrive and it wasn t even busy. Save your money and go to Joey s across the street.

Bad service, overcooked food with through the roof prices. Oh, and they put you on a spam list to email you and remind you about the crap night out. All around terrible, save your time and money for somewhere else

I was here for a company lunch, had the green salad with charred green onion vinaigrette which was fantastic, had a nice, 10oz medium rare steak, very satisfying, with fries, and their phyllo wrapped cheesecake... Top notch. If youre looking for a nice steak dinner go here.

*edit* I have now been to Braven multiple times. I have been so disappointed in my meal and so has everyone else at the table. (This has been 3 times) The steaks have been poor considering the price. I said my steak was burnt and they told me it was charred. I will not be going back. (Old review) Been to braven a couple times as friends work and eat there. The short rib was melt in your mouth! As were the garlic cheddar buns to start! The White Chocolate Creme Brulee was incredible! Food

Food is overpriced and low quality and you wait almost an hour for it. Drug addicts hanging around in the lobby and surrounding areas outside. Service staff are prude and dont treat you with respect. Kitchen chef thinks hes better than everybody and is unwilling to train the less knowledgeable. Tldr: if you value basic human decency and respect dont eat here go to a restaurant that respects people and their time

Walk down from the JW for dinner at 8:15, we were told there were no open tables until 9:15. Found reservations as soon as 8:30 on open table.

Had a wonderful dining experience here. Karen was our server and she was attentive, funny, and informative. Would come back again. Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating to allergies.

Decent food. No complaints. Steak prepared appropriately

The service was absolutely horrendous. Waiter took his time getting our food. Food was bland and not seasoned sufficiently. Front desk staff was also quite rude. Asked her when our table was ready and rudely replied that she was still getting it ready. Won t come back.

My husband and I came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary while staying at the JW. We could see that it was extremely busy but every single staff member we encountered was extremely sweet and so caring. Karen was our server and she was the best waitress we ve ever had. We absolutely adored her and would come back a hundred more times just for her service. The fabulous food was just the icing on the cake for our experience. The garlic cheese buns were melt in your mouth delicious and the short rib was cooked to perfection. Thank you for an amazing dining experience!

We still can t decide if we liked the Beef Carpaccio or the cheddar bread more. Pleasant service! The carrot cake is quite nice but it is the sorbet that comes with that makes it quite unique.

My wife and I went to the Lobby bar, where we ordered drinks, which we never received. After 30 minutes, was able to locate our waiter, who was unapologetic that we hadn t received our order.

Cocktails were great, food was good (but perhaps not quite as good as it could be when you re paying $70+ for 1 steak) Karen was our server, she was the best server that we ve had in Edmonton in a very long time. Friendly, fun, attentive, fast Karen is a total pro- we will ask for her next time at Braven!

I have always wanted to take in Braven and finally made it. It was worth the wait and such a delightful treat.

Steak was a tad tough considering it was $76 for the rib eye. It was cooked to my liking and the seasoning was on par. Just too bad it was tough and chewy.

Some of the best short ribs I ve had, the server was a very helpful kind woman. I believe her name was Karen? She suggested the ribs in the first place and I have to say she was absolutely right!

Wife and I had dinner and had been really looking forward to this restaurant. Our server was excellent and the ambiance was very nice. Since this is a fine dining establishment you would expect all the dishes to be excellent as you are paying premium prices for the food. My wife had the Crabcakes which she said were excellent. I had the Porchetta and it was very disappointing. It is a beef tenderloin wrapped with pork belly, it was very dry and actually hard to eat. I have eaten dozens of times at the Keg which is a chain restaurant and the meat has always been consistently excellent, I was expecting something better at a JW Marriott but such was not the case.

While the food was great, there were some hiccups that I wouldnt expect from a restaurant of this caliber. The wife had called to make reservations with simple requests of happy birthday at the table and/or with dessert. Neither were accompanied. Our waiter was subpar for what the restaurant represents with not just cocktails and wine going dry at table but water as well. Glasses should never be empty while the meals are in progress. Our glasses sat empty for a significant time frame that between wait staff, drink servers, and managers on the floor, This shouldnt even have to be noted. My wife asked for a recommendation of a non red meat dish, in which the waiter recommendation was beef ribs, which is disrespectful in clients dietary restrictions The Braven aged steak is great. All appetizers were wonderful, as well as the pasta. The kitchen does a wonderful job. I can not say that about the floor staff. To demand the dollar they request. The floor service needs to be improved and simple gestures for important nights out noted because efforts put forth on those nights make people want to come back during simple nights. As it stands, this is a one and done visit. Well choose to take our dining business elsewhere

From the moment I called to book the reservation to the moment I left the restaurant after the dinner - everything was perfect!!! I was here for my birthday party on Saturday (sept 7) there was about 10 of us ladies and we were lucky enough to get Karen as our server. She went above and beyond for us. No one waited for absolutely anything. She kept us laughing the entire time. Drinks were amazing and food was appropriate temp for what we ordered. Service was absolutely perfect! 10/10 recommend this restaurant and even requesting Karen as your server!! I promise you will not be disappointed

You pay a lot for the setting and location, which I believe is way overpriced. They left the skin on all the onions in my onion rings, so I had to separate them myself. Additionally, the steak was severely undercooked. At these prices, customers expect perfection. Please take the extra two minutes to do it right.

Completely unorganized, Came on time and they didn t have any table organized. They took us to the table and the table was not ready.. Never seen this kind of quality for a highly Price Steakhouse. It is surprising how they operate and they are so miss organized . Will never do it again.

Dined at Braven for dinner. The drinks were good. We ordered the 12oz strip loin which was good but didn t come with any sides (they were extra) so it seemed expensive for $67. Also ordered the Gindara Sablefish for $58. The Sablefish was delicious but was a smaller portion. The service was quite good and fast. It was a nice restaurant - we just weren t blown away with the food for how pricy it was.

Luxury place

i ve contemplated giving up one of my kidneys for their Phyllo cheesecake Braven is so incredible with amazing service, I ve come here for several birthdays and events. My only wish is that they d bring back the phyllo cheesecake and salmon appetizer. Otherwise I have no complaints. I cannot recommend Braven enough. Hands down one of my favorite places in the entirety of Edmonton.

Food is a little bit expensive for what you are getting. Fries were pretty tasty.

Went there to celebrate a dual birthday with my husband and was terribly disappointed with our meal (and our drinks, actually). We each had a cocktail and both the old fashioned and Caesar. I dont think either of us finished our drinks. We ordered the Garlic and Cheddar Buns which came out as one big pull apart puff, which tasted good, but not as described and the accompanying maple butter was hard. My husband ordered the short rib and I had the king salmon and truffle fries. My salmon was so salty that I could only have a few bites before it was sent back. The remake was slightly better, but not by much. My husband was also not enjoying his meal and his rib tastes a lot like.....I dont know. corned beef? The truffle fries were also really unappetizing. I couldnt place my finger on it, but we each only had a couple. Highly disappointed. Our bill still came to $140 despite the salmon being removed and it was such a bummer to have wasted a child free dinner to celebrate both of our birthdays on a dinner experience that was awful. We ended up looking for somewhere else to eat as I was still hungry, having not had much earlier in anticipation of a nice dinner out with my husband. Will not return and would not recommend.

Chosen Braven for an elegant date night out and we were highly disappointed in the overall experience. It was underwhelming in in its potential. Many tables were still open, we kindly asked to be moved to a better area and the hostess was rude and unaccommodating. Our service was basically null, and the food was mediocre at best. For the price we expected high end value and service.

Terrible service. Booked reservation for a birthday dinner and then get called back 5 hours later that they can t accommodate it anymore after already booking as who ever answered the phone and took the reservation didn t know their own schedule. Terrible customer service to this regard. They should educate their staff on their own internal schedule.

Braven is pretty good as far as hotel restaurants come and serves typical Canadian fare. The service is always decent and the servers are very attentive. They know how to cook a steak properly, but I think the food is quite mediocre for the price range.

Five of us shared a Tomahawk steak and several sides. The service was top, the cocktails delicious, and food flawless.

Nicely decorated but extremely poor customer orientation. Will not modify anything on the menu. Came in for brunch and asked for an omelette, but said they could do scrambled eggs, but not an omelette . asked for a side of fruit and said that was available 10 minutes ago for breakfast but not for brunch. We rented a private room for a bachelorette party and the service was amazing. Our server was super kind and offered to take pics of us. The food was absolutely delicious and everything went smoothly. I have absolutely nothing to fault!

Let me preface this by saying that my husband and I have been submerged in the hospitality industry for nearly 15 years. Our most recent evening visit to Braven was some of the best food and service we ve ever had the privilege of experiencing. Melanie is the epitome of professionalism. Incredibly meticulous, knowledgeable, genuine, and funny! Her suggestions and pairings were impeccable. I haven t been able to stop talking about the impression she made on me. She deserves the highest praise. The service and hospitality industries can be gruelling, cruel, and unrewarding. I hope she felt the same level of respect and kindness toward her that she had shown us. The food was equally as phenomenal. The Elk Tartare with nduja was incredible. The perfect balance of rich and spicy. We had the short rib with brown butter hollandaise. Chefs kiss! The garlic cheddar buns; do NOT sleep on these, absolutely delicious. We were told that one of the chefs, Chef Marcela, takes inspiration from her home country Chile. Especially in the Porchetta dish. I hear it s her favourite ;) You can taste the passion in every bite. The wagu carpaccio, cacio e pepe, and bravas brussel sprouts were also fantastic. Melanie, Marcela, and the team at Braven: you left us in wonderment. We cannot wait to return.

Bar Dinner menu not available on outdoor terrace. Entire restaurant and terrace completely empty, but wouldn t serve lite bites bar menu, to get Calamari, sweet potato fries,etc on the terrace at informal wood tables, or fire pit. Disappointing. Hostess gave attitude at check in. Weird experience. Had a beer then left for Alchemy

i usually never leave reviews on restaurants but me and my boyfriend came to braven and our server nick gave us the best service i ve ever experienced at a restaurant. not to mention the food, drinks and atmosphere were incredible.

Everyone at Braven was extremely attentive, kind and complimentary. The hostess, Ashleigh, helped me pick out a table for the evening and gave me great recommendations. Our first server, Nick, was pleasant, humorous and knowledgeable about the menu. We were switched over to Alicia near the end of the evening and she was very thoughtful and kind, as well. The food was also excellent. Thanks for a great evening, we really enjoyed it.

The crab cakes were fishy and the burger was dry. The Elk tar tar was not tar tar, but it was good. The wagyu carpaccio was wonderful. Wont be going back for the cost vs quality.

First time at Braven and would for sure return again when in Edmonton. We had the Tomahawk for the 2 of us with all the side fittings. We also ordered the cheese bread. Food was unreal. Braven has become one of my favourite restaurants in the city. Whenever I come in I always try to request Nick as he is an incredible server and is very personable. His recommendations are always on point.

We went for their Sunday brunch and it wasnt a great experience. The food was okay, the service was fine, and it was extremely expensive. I thought it would be fun to do a more expensive brunch for a celebration, and it was in the bottom half of all brunch places Ive been. The only part I liked, was the atmosphere - it was a pretty cool looking room. Parking: A little pricey, but parking under the building makes accessing this restaurant very easy!

It s my second time coming to Braven, with the first being for my anniversary and the second with my family from out of town. It is definitely pricier but the food is so delicious it s worth the experience. For our food, the oysters, crab cakes and steak were definitely the highlight. Our waiter told us that the steaks are cooked over birch to give it this unique smoky taste, which really comes through. Even our relatives agreed it was one of the best steaks they ve ever had. We were all super impressed and we didn t have to wait long for our food! The red wine is also really good paired with the rib eye steak. I shared the porterhouse steak with 2 other family members and it was plenty. Highly recommend if you want to try upscale seafood/steak. This is one of my favourites in Edmonton for sure! Parking: Park in the ICE district in Lot #56 (it s heated) and then walk out past the skating rink to get to the JW Marriott entrance.

Our party of 8 could not be seated until all people arrived despite having a reservation, 5 of us had to sit in the lobby. At the end of the meal we were told that one person typically picks up the bill. We had 8 people and this was not an option with a tab nearing $1k. Food was mediocre and would not return. Restaurant messed up instructions for the birthday desserts being brought to the table. We also went upstairs to Alchemy where we paid about $4 more for the exact same drinks wed had at Braven two floors below. All in all go somewhere else.

Had the Braven aged steak, so very delicious, and excellent service thank you Nick, I will be back.

Went here for a welcome dinner for a friend visiting from Halifax. Braven presented him with some A5 Waygu beef expertly prepared. A unmatched Alberta Beef experience that he described as life changing. . Sorry for the lack of a photo all the meals were a feast for the eyes and we didn t hesitate for photography. Highly recommend the divine Braven experience.

Food is very tasty, with a great atmosphere, a good place to come back

For the prices you pay this place is not worth it. The food and service are mediocre at best. Came for a girls night - there were six of us, I don t think one person was impressed with their meal. If you are looking for a place to have a really great meal - this isn t it. Try Uccelino, Rge road, Bar Bricco - even Cactus Club - all way better than this place.

We came here for a dinner in our Anniversary had high expectations the service was good place was too cramped and loud didn t feel like a 5 star dining option at all food tasted well below local low raajya ing restaurants the main emphasis was on presentation the rib eye had no flavour the chicken breast was over cooked and too dry..had to ask for some sauce to eat it won t be back

A girlfriend of mine came here together for a night away from our kids. It was absolutely perfect. While we found our table a bit on the small side, it was a two top slim table. We enjoyed the atmosphere being able to see into the kitchen and being in the JW it really was a beautiful location. The food was absolutely wonderful our server paste it out, wonderfully for us since we had an activity after to get to. We were unable to enjoy the Sunday but we cannot wait to come back to try it. Our server was attentive and cracked jokes with us. She was very very pleasant. Parking: If there is a hockey game or event at rogers. Parking can be a little tricky. Little to no street parking but paid garages all around.

Braven is a high end restaurant in the heart of Edmontons Ice District at the J. W. Marriott hotel. Its a stunning dining space decorated with modern but warm decor. First off, I see so many complaints in the reviews about the price point. Braven is expensive...it is probably over priced vs what most consumers are accustomed to. So if you are coming for a food experience, just let it be known in advance that this will hit your wallet. I provide a similar note to those that go to tiny restaurants in the inner city that you arent there for the decor or service in many instances but mostly for just the food. The food is spectacular. The steaks are amazing and all of the additional sides we ordered were mind blowing. The service was top notch. Our server was extremely helpful and attentive. We had arrived early and were invited into the lounge area of the hotel and within five minutes a server from the reetauranr came to find us and guide us in. I cant say enough about Braven. As I noted before, it will be a very expensive fab at the end of the night so if you come here and try to find a cheap way to navigate through the evening, it will take away from your experience. If youre coming here, be prepared to spend at a price point that is considerably higher than most typical establishments. If you set that expectation from the start, you will have a thrilling night! 5 x

Fantastic dinner with Alistar as our server. his knowledge of the menu paired with a personable conversation made the night special for us. We had the elk tartare and the scallops; both were filled with bright, rich, and interesting flavours. Discussions about egg whites in cocktails, bourbon, scallops and bagpipes left us certain that we will return.

This was our first time here and we loved it. Our server Karen was amazing and made our experience amazing. Food was worth the price and was on par with other Edmonton top end restaurants with its own unique flavors. Definitely will be back.

30 mins wait to be seated on a Monday night (not busy, many empty seats not filled up until we finished our food), the hostess promised to call us when a table is ready but didn t, then waited another hour for our food. Very pricey as well. Good food but not worth it.

First time here and it was great! Alistair was fantastic and even sang happy birthday to the birthday girl. Lovely service, atmosphere and food. Will definitely come back!

If you have an allergy, be extra careful here. I informed my server of my severe allergy and was assured it could be easily substituted. Servers dont deliver the food to the table, however kitchen staff do. I was under the impression I received the substitution, but did not. My server recognized the error the second she saw my food and warned me, but I had already eaten some of it. I was lucky to not have a serious reaction, but I was furious. Drinks were comped, and I was not willing to fight for more than that because it was Valentines Day. My server did everything right, but its clear that the kitchen did not communicate properly. This could be life-threatening for the wrong person. We also almost missed a course, as another, different server was responsible for it and did not come to our table. Our primary server was the one to rectify this. I strongly advise the restaurant update its policies to remove any potential for miscommunication. Dividing the duties so thoroughly clearly allowed things to slip through the cracks. 2 stars because while the food was otherwise excellent, fear of death on date night is not. Dietary restrictions: Back-of-house procedures failed to catch a nut allergy.

We had our anniversary dinner here Dec 4th. We were really pleased when we arrived and our table had a sign that said happy anniversary! We enjoyed our dinner but when it came to dessert that s when things turned for the worse. I had gone with the recommendation of the waitress and when it came out it was not what I ordered at all. Again it had a nice personal touch of happy anniversary in chocolate. Our waitress was MIA so I decided just to eat it. I took one bite and it just wasn t for me. Finally she rushed by and we have a chance to say about it being wrong she admits she entered it wrong and will comp it off the bill. We don t eat the dessert after the small taste and it doesn t get replaced. We get our bill and the dessert that I didn t order is on it! Manager has to come out and a mad scramble discussion. Our nice evening just turned painful. I wasn t going to do a review but last night we went to the lobby bar before going to Alchemy and it turned into another painful experience for us. I ordered a drink they brought the wrong one out. I didn t say anything I just drank it. We get our bill and my husband didn t look he just paid it then realized it was very expensive for just two drinks. We look at the bill it wasn t even our bill we just paid for another tables. We have to wave down the server and have a long wait for her to get the same manager from two weeks ago and wait for them to figure out their mistakes. My experience the last couple weeks here just sucked. I love the ambience and the location. The food and drinks are good. I just feel there is some sort of disconnect and disorganization going on with the service. Also I feel that when mistakes are made they are sloppy to make it better for the customer.

Got brunch with the fam. Lovely environment and staff, but average food given the price. Overall: 7.8/10 Woodsman breakfast (sausage, bacon, potatoes, 2 eggs, 2 flap jacks (pancakes), beans): Price: $30 Portion: 8.0/10 Sausage: 8.5/10 Bacon: 8.4/10 (deep pork flavour with a more similar texture to a pork chop than conventional bacon) Eggs: 8.0; expected quality Flap jacks: 8.0/10; pretty typical pancakes the size of an eggo. Beans: 8.5/10; pretty good but nothing too fancy. Potatoes: 8.2/10; pretty typical, decently seasoned and crispy. Breakfast burrito (eggs, bacon, salsa, cheese): Price: $26 Portion: 8.2/10; could ve gotten more for the price elsewhere. Burrito: 8.7/10 Potatoes (side): 8.2/10 Avocado toast: Price: $26 Portion: 6.5/10 Avocado filling (with picco de gallo, cucumber, seeds): 6.5/10; not very seasoned. Eggs: 8.0/10 Sourdough bread: 6.0/10: crust was a bit difficult to chew through; perhaps tastier if you like sourdough.

The short version: be wary of shady mark ups on your bill with no warning (either from your server or mentioned in the menu). This is more of a review of the way the restaurant is managed and how floor staff are trained; because while it might be tempting to blame our server, I d rather make it clear that this was likely how folks are trained which is squarely on the shoulder of management/training and the decisions made about HOW to run a restaurant. I mean, MAYBE we had a rogue server but I suspect not. Less importantly, some orders were slow. And we spent a lot of time between interactions with staff (taking orders, receiving drinks etc) The core reason I came to write this review is this: surprise charges on the bill. My colleague and I both ordered burger plates. Our server asked my colleague if he d prefer truffle fries, regular fries, salad or something else. He ordered the truffle fries. The server asked if he d like tomato, cheese, bacon, lettuce, (and other items). My colleague said yes. I got the same questions. I opted for regular fries and yes to the burger with all that list of things . Food: great. It s a shame we can t focus on that. Skip to the bill. There a 4$ add on for my bacon. And my colleague? 4$ for the bacon and 9$ for the truffle fries. On a 29$ (very good) burger. Now, we were caught off guard. I did talk to our server. I didn t refuse the charge (maybe we should have) but I did explain that the practice of neither listing the add ons as extra fees in the menu and not mentioning the add on in person (not to mention scrambling down the list of ingredients of both included and not included ) is pretty deliberately shady. Do I blame the server? Not entirely. My gut says this is a decision made by the restaurant itself. Let s be honest; if you rely on regulars, this will irk them. I won t be going back. But I m not from Edmonton. This is likely a passable practise because, well, this place is essentially a hotel restaurant. And I assume most of their guests are visitors. And sure, I ve paid for add ons before and I don t expect a neon sign warning me. Or a server listing the cost of each item. But good practice is calling those items options or using language like would you like us to add _____ . And yes; you can also put up a neon sign and say things like for an additional charge . But you do you. Did these folks break the law? No. Or I mean, probably not. But I m no lawyer. I m just a patron. And in spite of the food, Braven left me feeling taken advantage of. And do you really want to spend your money somewhere that makes you feel that way? I can t force anyone to skip this place; but I can encourage folks to choose better spots in town that will treat them right, feed you well and leave you with stories about good food and good service instead of stories of wondering if you just got scammed. And if anyone at Braven is thinking of explaining this away, that you value your patrons experience etc . just hear me out; if you cared about your patrons and realized that your reputation is the best way to grow your business, you would have chosen better language during your server trainings. If you did that at all. You would have explained that the experience your patrons have is more important than the final bill tally. And it s ok if that s not what you are looking to achieve. I get the sense you and your investor partners are more about the bottom line. And mediocre restaurants are good for that. If that s the case: goal achieved. Everyone else; it s Alberta. There are excellent Steakhouses nearby. No reason to choose this one over the great ones. Some day I ll come back to Edmonton enjoy a great one and feel good about my decision to dine there. Someday. The Brussels sprouts were spot on. They only made me fart a little bit.

Amazing! The customer service here is an 11/10, our food took a bit longer than usual and everyone was so kind, apologetic, and understanding. The steak here is to die for, one of the best we have had in Edmonton! Will definitely be back, highly recommend!

Braven is one of our favourite place for celebrations. I cant count on how many times I have been to this restaurant. I love the ambience here, they have great staff and the foods are beautiful and scrumptious. Another thing I love about is the parking. They offer free parking for 3 hours on a non-event day and its an indoor parking. Come here for a special ocassion and I recommend to order their Sundae as that is one of their signature dessert.

a party of five on January 26 with a server Deborah was wonderful - I dont believe Ive ever had a more discreet, prompt and attentive server in all my years of dining. The dinner was diverse in choosings throughout our party with everyone trying something different; from Salmon fillet, to Brussel Sprouts and extending to pasta / Rigatoni in Vodka; all beautifully prepared, executed, and arriving hot to the table. There wasnt a flaw or a skipped beat in the whole evening - from the gracious sit down to seconds in coffee. The evening fare was reasonable in price with nothing seemingly out of step with what one might expect to pay for a delightful evening out with family and friends. Its very appealing to return - in the future - and explore more of their offerings, colour and tremendous service. Thank you for a lovely evening BRAVEN + Deborah. We had the rigatoni and crown agnolotti as our main entrees and both dishes were fantastic. The best part of our experience was the lovely waitress who was so attentive and sweet. We also really enjoyed the phyllo wrapped cheesecake and carrot cake. All dishes and desserts were presented beautifully and we had a really good time! We were there for dinner on a Sunday, so we were lucky to be able to sit at one of the nice booths. We also really recommend the Duchess cocktail which was super refreshing and pretty!

Fantastic experience at Braven. We took my mom for her Birthday and were welcomed with a happy birthday as we came in for our reservation. Our waiter was charming, and he made sure we always had water and enough room to dine by taking excess cutlery. The food was delicious. The most flakey and buttery bun I have ever had, with a generous serving of parmesan on top. It was a great experience. I highly recommend the truffle fries and creamy crab carbonara as well. My mom was delighted and raved about how delicious the meal was all night. My fiance and I shared the phyllo-wrapped cheesecake, which exceeded expectations in every way possible. Light, fluffy, and not too sweet, that dessert will live in my memory until next time. The outdoor person atmosphere was enjoyable for me; it reminded me of hunting with my dad. I had a birthday celebration here. As a part of the O&B chain, the food was great and they have interesting food items. I had jalapeno cornbread, one of the pasta (beef ragu?), truffle fries, and porterhouse steak. Everything tasted great and up to the O&B standard. I recommend this restaurant for its ambiance and service. I mean the food was great as well, but it was not something exceeding my expectations. All staff was extremely courteous, friendly, and accommodating. Very pleasant experience, overall. I would come back to Braven for a special celebration. Thank you!

5 starts for top notch service right from our host to our amazing server Susan! We started with The Duchess cocktail which was delicious and pretty (veryyy instagramable). The garlic buns were incredible and clearly popular since most surrounding tables also ordered them! I ordered the Carbonara and my friend also ordered a pasta dish, both did not disappoint. Great restaurant for a ladies night, or a date night. Will be bringing my husband next time so he can try out the steak!

Celebrate my friends big 50 last weekend and it became a disappointment.

I attended a small private event and our food and service was impeccable. My only observation is the music was insanely loud. We were in a back room in the far corner of the restaurant and 8t was so loud it was hard to hear our presenters at our event. I couldnt imagine sitting out there and hearing that while trying to eat. Im not sure if they have a bar/ restaurant side and we were on the bar side of something but honestly with how loud that music was Im not sure if want to go back and pay their prices to eat there.

My partner and i visited this evening to celebrate her birthday. We were greeted graciously and sat at a generous booth. Service from Deborah was brilliant while Kevin brightened up our night with some lovely conversation and a round of drinks on him. Got the duck and braised short-rib which were both made perfectly. Had some lovely cocktails and ended the night with some dessert that was also delicious. Have never sat down here for dinner before but will definitely be back. Thank you!!

Get the Brant lake. The Wagyu is great but if you want the beefiest beef get the dry age! Parking: Dont do what I did. Park underground and just go up to the host stand to get your parking set. Dont pay if you dont need to.

There are two section in Braven, one is the bar and the other is the restaurant. I tried the food in the restaurant and it didn t meet my expectations at all. I remember the mushroom soup was too much watery! However, the bar is quit nice and the snacks are tasty. Definitely try the Braven bar section. The images is from the bar!

We had been running all around Edmonton. Looking for something that blew our taste buds away. Braven as our last stop. Could not be happier that we did ! Service was outstanding. Wine list was excellent. Cheese buns,were light tasty tender. And the seafood plater was superb. Absolutely dinning there again.

We waited for almost an hour for our breakfast! Pancakes came cold and chewy (possibly yesterdays?) and home made fries were chopped up spuds, gross and grayish inside, burned on the outside. Sausage was burned and tasted off, the extra side of sausage hasnt arrived, when it did it was undercooked and smelled off, toast was burned on the one side and tasted very stale. Eggs were good and done as we asked. Overall terrible, extremely expensive experience.

First time here with family to celebrate a birthday and the ambience was nice - felt like classy Kingsmen vibes, but with rustic touches. The service was great from the start, seated with menus off the bat, water served by support staff before our main server arrived to greet us. The food, however, was entirely a hit-or-miss the whole evening. Appys: The brussels sprouts were by far the best dish of the night; they were roasted well, packed a bit of heat and had lots of flavour. The seafood ceviche was very disappointing. It came out kind of flashy with a smoky dish and looked promising; however, it was incredibly soupy, watery and lacked flavour. There were also two shrimp tails (shells) in the dish which should not have been there. Entrees: The miso glazed cod was tender and tasty. The duck breast was cooked well, but we werent sure about it laying in a blood red beet sauce - the colours were a bit unappetizing. The crab carbonara was just so-so; they covered the entire top of the pasta with bonito flakes which was a real miss and out of place - it made the pasta taste so fishy and completely overtook any flavour of crab. The raw egg yolk was a nice touch that helped to add some creaminess to the dish that was otherwise lacking. The salmon dish was much too salty overall - the fish itself, the sauce on top, and everything else on the plate was just one note: salty. The atmosphere was lively and service was commendable. But for the price we paid and the quality of the food we received, we were not left wanting to come back a second time.

Love the food. Love the atmosphere. Unfortunately, there needs to be a management shift or basic CRM implemented. Front/back-end is totally disconnected. This was the only restaurant that I would send VIPs to, go to myself for family functions or a casual bite to eat. Many great memories with the Broncos, Jared Bednar, Gretz and others. However, the last 2 years has shown the true colors of the JW and Braven. - Summary: Horrible valet service [arrogant and do not trust them with luxury vehicles]. Servers + hostesses are great, just dont try to book for a large party unless you are going to grab a private room.

Game night at this venue is like a bustling hive of Oilers fans, all buzzing with excitement. Its beauty may rival a Picasso, but finding the entrance is a puzzle worthy of a maze-runner. The servers are friendly, but remember, theyre juggling a million things, so new drinks or bills might take a snail-mail route. But hey, its all part of the game-night charm!

The food was great. The service however, not so much. We were not allowed to bring in a small rose bouquet and helium (foil) balloons and a cake for a graduation celebration. We reserved online and stated the reason for the reservation, but the restaurant did not inform us of this limitation at that point. If we knew, we would ve gone to a different restaurant. No other restaurant in Edmonton has a silly policy like this one. Additionally, they did not offer to put our cake in a fridge. We had to put it in the car which caused it to melt and topple over because of the heat. At the end of the meal, we then see the table next to us leaving after their meal with a rose bouquet in their hand. It is disappointing that they claimed it is their policy to not allow roses due to potential allergies, but did not apply the policy consistently. We will never use Braven again to celebrate our milestones, regardless of the great food. What a shame.

My husband and I visited Braven tonight as a late celebration for his birthday. Deborah was our server and was absolutely wonderful! She was very attentive and friendly without being bothersome and always made sure we were well taken care of. The other servers were all very helpful in serving and helping clean our table. The manager came by a couple times to check on us and make sure we had everything we needed. My husband had a steak and I had the salmon, both were absolutely delicious. Also highly recommend the pull apart bread as an appetizer and definitely the cheesecake for dessert! Thanks again to Deborah and everyone for a great experience!

We decided to give Braven a second chance and we are very glad that we did. On our first trip the food was excellent but the service was really really not. Our second trip was everything we wished our first experience could have been. The food was excellent but this time so was the service. Nick, our server, was friendly and attentive (but not too attentive), his wine suggestions for our meal were perfect. We could not have asked for a better experience.

Me and my cousins our first time coming here, we had a new servers who started I believe her name was Rhilene I could have just butcher the name wrong Im truly sorry, she was great and everything, our food did take a bit longer to come by and I did respect a lot from the server and manager coming up to us and explaining about it, but we werent even mad at all, the food was outstanding, sure its pricy but what do you expect all meats in any steakhouse have gone up due to inflation so resurants have to survive and do the best they can, we really enjoyed the food, and the manager checked on us and apologized, but we assured him that everything still was amazing, he didnt have to give us a 10% discount or the free dessert as not every place can be perfect but we appreciated the give back we got for the small mistake, the banana split sundae was amazing, we will forsure be back and I do appreciate everyone their for their hard work and dedication to the business.

A group of us went for dinner on a Saturday night to celebrate a birthday. I had called ahead to make reservations. Called ahead to make sure we can bring our own cake. I Was told that the restaurant needed the ingredients of the cake from the bakery, which I got. When we got there, we were told that we needed a printed copy of the ingredients, even-though I had an email from the bakery! Then we were told it will be $7.50 per person to cut the cake! This was not mentioned when making the reservations. The manager was rude and said we are a restaurant and serve our own desserts here , thank you I didn t realize it was a restaurant. The manager did not apologize for the fact that not all the information was given when the reservations were made. When we sat down, our server (very nice), told us she could get us into Alchemy. When we were done eating, she said we can go check the availability on our own. We were all confused as she said she would get us in. Nothing was done for the birthday girl! Food was ok! Nothing that I would go back for. For fine dining this was a very poor experience!

I usually don t leave negative reviews but i d like to save others from wasting their time/money. Our dinner service on Monday august 21 at 715pm was unbelievably slow. It took us 3 hours to get appetizers, entrees and desserts. It was a quiet Monday night, not busy at all. We ended up having to laugh about how long everything took. Yet the funniest part of the evening was how inedible the desserts were. Our table of six ordered one banana split (which came out as icecream soup, not exaggerating and not sure how the server thought it looked acceptable to put this on a table), two brownies (so dry you couldn t puncture them with a fork), a keylime pie (this one was actually inedible. A bright green plastic-like gel was on top and the bottom was a rock hard rice crispy looking hockey puck) and a carrot cake (the carrot cake was the only good dessert). We told the server the 3 desserts were awful so we didn t get charged for them. It was surprising that a manager didn t come out, instead our server just took another 15min to fix the bill. We will not be coming back. Great atmosphere though. My husband enjoyed the bolognese and the gnocchi was good so if you are forced at gun point to dine here just stick with those two and for the love of god don t risk ordering dessert.

Typically I don t leave poor reviews unless it s warranted. I Was there for a birthday with a group of 5 couples. Payment took for wr after our meals as true machine were down it held us up 45 mins as they decided to put everyone bills separate. Don t get the yellowfin tuna steak. It s dry, 3 of us had it and my wife s steak was dry. Not what expect from this Restaurant. Service was good besides the payment issue. Will not be becoming back here lots of better options in the City.

Absolutely one of the best steakhouses in Edmonton to eat at. The grilled scallops are an incredible appetizer and any of the stakes are beautifully made on an open flame right in front of your eyes. The atmosphere is elegant and romantic and right in the heart of the ice District. Perfect place for a birthday or special occasion or even a place to go after an amazing Oilers hockey game!

The entrance is a bit hard to find if you arent from the hotel, but apart from that everything was exceptional. I would give the service and atmosphere a 100 stars if could. The waitress we had was beyond accommodating when we order a dish and received something different than expected it was replaced immediately with something to our liking. The restaurant had a nice warm atmosphere not to noisy but not too quiet. The elk tartare was by far my favorite among everything. When we told our waitress we were our of town she took the time to give us recommendations. Very happy my go to place when in edmonton.

Both are well below brand standards for a hotel of this caliber. Zero intent to recommend anyone dine here. In fact, I will gladly recommend people stay far, far away from this joke of a restaurant.

Booked for a birthday in May weeks in advance. I had changes in the number of people who were coming so I m happy that they were able to accommodate this however, closer to the day they had a special event happening at the same time with hundreds of people, and were asking to move my time so they could ensure quality service and I agreed. On the day of, my guests arrived before me and were essentially told that they could not take them the table without me and were going to give away my table even though I had called about being late due to traffic (+ about 10 minutes because of parking). I was greeted with incredibly poor disdain from an older lady as the host. My friend also gifted me fresh flowers that were not allowed to be brought to the table. Our server was really the only good thing about Braven understanding and accommodating. For the price of the food and the luxury atmosphere, I was thoroughly disappointed. Every one of my guests complained about something the food, the service, the overall experience. Plus, the restaurant was not full whatsoever like they had mentioned when I had accommodated them. For them to threaten to give away my table on a special occasion is poor taste. I will not be returning to Braven, and I would advise anyone who is wanting to celebrate in a high-class, fancy environment to consider other options, or even settle for Boston Pizza across the street because I m positive you ll AT LEAST eat tastier food and be treated better.

I took my lovely girlfriend there for dinner. She had the tenderloin steak, which was delicious. I have the charred duck breast, which was my favorite meal Ive ever had at any restaurant. Highly recommend this place quality of the food was fantastic.

For the sake of Albertas reputation, this restaurant should not be allowed to use the word stakehouse in its name or promotions because the restaurant is either in the business of ruining stakes or doing some magic tricks where they turn tender cuts like porterhouse into lukewarm chewy ordeals, accompanied by cold mashed potatoes and cold veggies. NEVER, in our fine province, did I have such a poor stakehouse experience like I did on Nov 12, 2023, at Braven. One star rating is too much for the disappointment served at this place.

We stopped into to Braven last night while out having drinks. We first sat with friends at the Lobby Bar while waiting for a table for 2, which took about 20 minutes. We didn t mind, the atmosphere is beautiful in the lobby. Once our table was ready, we were seated by a lovely gentleman who explained our waitress would be over shortly. No one ever came. We sat without even water, for 15 minutes while our waitress walked past our table 3 different times, assisting other guests. It was extremely disappointing so we got up and left. Edmonton has so many great restaurants, so after this experience we will not be back.

We started with the seared scallops, they were enough to share for two people saving room for dessert. They were fantastic. I had the flat iron and the short ribs. I expected the short ribs to be served on mashed potatoes but they were served on beans, a nice change! My flat iron was ordered medium rare and was more on the rare side, however that is how I like it but my wife wouldn t try it with how rare it was. We finished with the carrot cake which was probably one of the best we ve had.

Solid place, solid food. The ticket times were a little slow but the food was good. The atmosphere was decent and the service was decent. The chateaubriand is a dish rarely served nowadays but was a quality piece of meat season well and cooked to the right temperature. I would eat here again.

Has a great atmosphere but price is very high for the portion you get. No sides for the steaks, as those are extra. So for me, I find you can get same quality and better value for steak, at some other steak restaurants We did have great service there. I have no problem paying high end price if the food justifys it, but nothing blew me away.

Susan was amazing! It was a wonderful experience and we will be back.

I am appalled how we were treated at this restaurant! The waiter was extremly rude and it felt like we were bothering him. We asked to sample a wine that cost over 250$, annoyed the waiter went and got us a sample but from a different bottle of wine. We were watching him pour us the glass from a far. After bringing us the bottle of wine that I asked for which was very expensive, he tried to make us believe that the wine we tasted was the same bottle of wine he brought to our table... After telling him we watched him pour wine out of a bottle that didnt look like our bottle of wine we ordered he argued back and eventually asked if we wanted to sample the bottle of wine he brought to our table... Rolling his eyes and sighing... we decided to get up and leave... Ive had better service at Boston Pizza....

Susan was our server and she was phenomenal. Perfectly attentive, personable, genuine, honest and knowledgeable. She made the experience worth it. The food tasted amazing. The pull aparts and French onion soup were so savoury. The steak was done perfectly. The crab legs needs some re-vamping. There were three legs in a cast iron skillet. The crab legs were cold and so was the skillet. The shell of the legs were soft so we couldn t crack them, they would just bend. If we were given scissors to cut the legs or a crab fork to dig out the meat, it would have been easier. Susan was great at grabbing us tools to help us and she then advocated for a discount/bottle of wine. Although the crab legs were cold, Susan was on fire!

Went to the lobby bar for a nightcap and the ambiance was excellent. On the other hand, I ordered a glass of house red for my wife. I now know to double check the menu first as we were brought a glass of the most expensive red on the menu.

We went to Braven last night for a girls night and the food was amazing!! Susan was our server and she made our experience that much better. Thank you for such a great evening! I will definitely be back!
