10548 A Whyte Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 2A4, Canada
Classic ’50s diner serving New Orleans & Southern favorites such as po' boys, jambalaya & gumbo.
Overall fantastic and a great, fun, different option in Edmonton. The portion sizes have gotten smaller over the years, but overall the quality and flavour has been consistent. Love po boys Mondays, great price point for what you get. Fun atmosphere. One of our favourites and an Edmonton staple.
I haven't been to DaDeO's for probably five years at least but the place is still great. The Blacked Chicken Po Boy was delicious and the sweet potato fries are just incredible. Can't way to go back again very soon.
I love the decor, the food was good! Service was busy, but he was on point! Good job! We went to another restaurant on whyte ave and got forgotten about. We decided to walk in here for our night out. Thank you for a great dinner!
Amazing food, amazing staff, can’t wait to make this a regular stop once I move here. Appetizer - Corn Fritter, absolutely tasty and amazing. Main - COMBO FABIO A quarter Southern Fried Chicken and half St. Louis Ribs served with coleslaw, gravy and DaDeO famous Sweet Potato Fries
The sandwich with sweet potato fries are awesome! I really enjoyed how fresh and crispy the fries were. The size of the sandwich was really good, I tried the chicken one, it turned out juicy and perfectly seasoned. Really recommend trying out this little place, it's a tough place to find and the parking can be challenging but worth it!
I visited this place because it came highly recommended by a friend but I had a weird experience. Walking in the hostess looked at me like I was in the wrong place and wasn't welcoming until I asked for a table for 1. She then proceeded to inform me that I couldn't drink from my travel mug while I was there. I understand but that could have been passed along better (at least show me to a seat first). The service was quick but no one checked in or even asked how my meal went. Maybe it was a me thing because they were very friendly and checked in often with the table just near me. The atmosphere and music were great though and I enjoyed the bayou jambalaya although I felt it could do with a bit more heat. My fave thing was the key lime pie which I took to go. I probably won't visit here again as there are a lot of options on Whyte but will most likely try their po boys which looked good but definitely as a take out order.
Great food great atmosphere. Service is always friendly. We wanted to try as many things as possible for our meal for 2. Got the mussels, catfish poboy and Gumbo to share. All was filling and delicious. Also the music is awesome. You will dance in your seat the whole time.
It’s been a while since I last visited DaDeO. I always loved coming here for the food and atmosphere and hoped it remained the same. Thankfully, nothing has changed and that’s a very good thing. The food is decent and the service was friendly and attentive. Love the vibe and the music. This is a licenced bar so I for one really appreciate the more adult feels. My next visit will be much sooner, lots yet to try at this cool little spot.
Ordered online. The blackened chicken PoBoy was spicy and the potato hash was savoury. Love this meal.
Haven t been in over 15 years. Happy to see it s still around. Service was great, food was good. And I appreciated the 18+ requirement even during Saturday brunch. Thanks folks!
Vegetarian options: If the atmosphere doesn t win you over, the food certainly will! What is it about the Vegetarian Jambalaya that makes it one of THE BEST vegetarian dinner I ve eaten in Edmonton? The veggies are sautéed just right, and the seasonings are perfect! My dinner companions said the Sweet Potato Fries and the Key Lime Pie are VERY highly recommended. Karen, the owner, is a hands-on, hard worker that makes sure everyone is well-fed and happy. Our family and friends love it!
Had a great experience with the staff at DaDeO on Sunday. The staff was fantastic, Derrik especially was a hoot. The food was an added bonus all of it being 10/10. Highly recommend the Jambalaya and corn bread!
Excellent evening out, punctuated with the always amazing Bananas Foster.
Super good food and service The staff is so nice and very funny Food
It s a nice place to hang out with friends. The interior has a little bit of classic diner, jazz, and cinco de mayo touches. But generally, the food is good for a weekend night out (casual).
Eclectic place for a fun chill vibe. Oyster Po boys are delightful
Unique, 50s themed diner with a deep south vibe and food to reflect it. Super tasty!
Excellent staff amazing Cajun food. Seafood is amazing.
Food here is so delicious, sitting at the patio is so comfortable. Staffs are so nice and courteous.
Very interesting decor to and great music to match the vibe. Our service was attentive and fun, the food was flavourful and very home cooked style. Highly recommend the jalapeño cheddar fritters if you like deep fried foods.
Miss this joint!
I cant comment on the food but the staff was very nice. We couldnt eat there because we had children, and they are considered a bar. But she gave local suggestions. So check their website as they have that warning posted there.
Have been a fan of Dadeos Po boys and food for years but unfortunately after todays experience I dont think well be back. We ordered a few sides/starters and opted to share the blackened cat fish Po boy. My wife took her first bite into the Po boy and immediately had two large catfish bones poke into the side of her mouth. (Luckily she didnt swallow the bones) When we brought it up to the server she wasnt really sure what to do and ended up saying she thinks theres sometimes bones in there while basically walking away from us? I ate about half of my share, bit down and found a large fish bone as well. We brought it up to the server a second time who then brought her manager over. We told him what happened and he claimed that 30% of customers find bones and its very common due to their supplier. Note that theres no disclaimer on the menu to watch for bones and seeing that its a sandwich, most wouldnt expect fish bones.. He then reached over and picked up the bones we found with his fingers, he said that the bones we found werent even that big lol. Kinda odd that he used his bare hands to pick up bones that were in our mouths and plate. Felt like he was more focused on trying to make us feel stupid for even bringing up finding fish bones, then actually putting in effort to apologize and make things right. They took it off the bill but we still felt like they treated the whole situation quite poorly. Do not get the blackened catfish as there is an alleged 30% chance there will be bones in your food.
DaDeO has never let us down. Delicious, large portions, full of flavor, great choices, reasonable prices. Our server answered our questions with frank, concise replies. We could come here every week!
Amazing food and drinks, tasted and looked authentic - made me long for the Big Easy. Service was excellent as well. The atmosphere was different, but not in a bad way - really good New Orleans food in a 50s style diner with current music playing. Would definitely recommend!
Ive been coming here for years and the food is good, though a bit pricey. The service has always been great, and the place has a very cool vibe. I recommend everyone should try the disco lemonade. Always exceptional!
Food was not something I woul
The Bayou Gumbo changed my life and the appocado salad was very generous in terms of portion size, also the dijon vinaigrette was really nice. Loved this place.
Great food. Excellent Poboys and sides with generous portions.
Good value, great meal!
Dadeo never disappoints. The atmosphere is pleasant, the staff is always nice and welcoming and don t get me started with their food It s so tasty and fresh! My favorite dish is gumboutine and they always deliver. Highly recommend!
Absolutely amazing!!!! Best restaurant experience ever, Ill dream about that bread pudding for months after this
Awesome food, great atmosphere and fast friendly service. I will definitely be back!
Hands down the best cajun food youll find in Edmonton. They have won best sweet potato fries in Edmonton for more than 20 years and they deserve it.
My wife and I have been coming here for years and we love you guys. However, a couple days ago we came in and I had a po boy like I usually do and the size of the po boy was drastically smaller. Smaller bun and less toppings. Dont get me wrong I thing we all over eat and eating less is a good thing, but at the same price this is a clear sign of shrinkflation. Its not going to stop me from coming in, but its just disappointing and I will order something else.
Fantastic as always!!
Great food in a cool venue with a fair price. Strongly recommend.
Oyster Poboy and banana foster. Ten out of ten.
Great food, greater people
Loved it. Tad price but service and food was great. Would go back again and would recommend it to others for sure
I love this place! I must recommend it to someone new weekly. The po boys are fantastic, and every time it s a debate on which side I want more. Large portion sizes too! You don t leave hungry, that s a guarantee. Seriously try their jalapeño jelly with their biscuits, I ve been dreaming of it ever since.
I can t believe I don t have a photo! I ve been here a few times The sweet potato fries are the best I ve had, anywhere. I don t know how they do it, but they are crispy and well seasoned every time. I had the Jambalaya last time and it was delicious. My brother recommended extra sauce to go with it; and that s how I ll always order it now - so good! Parking: It s on Whyte Ave - very little parking, but you can usually get a spot within a couple blocks. Kid-friendliness: No minors
Cool retro restaurant, Gumbo was delicious and the rice is amazing. Was kinda disappointed with the pecan pie~ small, and kinda pricy for what felt like it was a store bought one. Food
I have been going toDaDeO s for years, and recently have been going quite often with members of the office, as it is one of the few restaurants in the area that everyone can agree on: the food is always delicious, and the service is excellent. We generally get the po boys, which are always so good, and I frequently get the mussels as well, which are fantastic. The prices are very reasonable, and I just don t know if there are too many places in the city where you can get such good value, especially for lunch.
Can not say enough good about this place. Incredible service and food was amazing. An underrated gem in the city of Edmonton
Everything and I do mean everything on their menu is so good. Southern fried chicken is so crispy and tender and seasoning is perfect. Dont get me started about the gravy! Could bathe in it. Jambalaya rice is a must have. Traditional flavours and perfectly cooked. Even the coleslaw was great. Not sloppy and full of vinegar. Ive been eating here since they opened and it has always maintained great flavours and quality.
Have not been to DaDeO for years. Went for lunch and had the blackened chicken po boy and it was delish. Perfect size and sides too. Service was on the patio and was delightful. Looking forward to going back. My partner is vegetarian and they had some nice options for him too.
I love the vibe. Had the veggie jambalaya and it was fantastic. They are a great representation of Whyte ave culture.
The food was very tasty and the service was very accommodating.
Service was exceptional, great food, nice atmosphere, definitely recommended!
I am so sad that I cant teleport back and forth between my home province and this restaurant - all the food here was incredible. I had the fritters, sweet potato fries and bayou jambalaya - gloriousness in every bite.
I come here and order here often love the food love the diner
Mmm... sweet potato fries. Mmmm..... fried chicken. Mmmmmm..... Dadeo. Food : 5/5
Take the rib jambalaya off the menu. Absolutely vile. 0/10 don t recommend. Ribs with bone on, piled on top of rice drenched in BBQ sauce. You also need to get rid of the overcooked biscuits and green jelly combo you put on the table before the meal. Yuck. Atmosphere is fine- only reason this place has a high rating is because it s photo-esque. Understaffed and slow. Wouldn t go back and wouldn t recommend.
Came back here after a 25yr hiatus and happy to see the owners and food have remained consistently the same. Good, solid cajun oriented diner fare of po boys, jambalayas, crab cakes, etc. to handily abate those lunch and dinner cravings.
Went for a birthday for my wife. Excellent service awesome drinks and food! Awesome vibe had a great time! The banana foster is a must
Really awesome and unique experience with great food and great vibes. However it was very loud and overwhelming in the end.
Pretty good menu, even the wings were delicious!
The best sweet potato fries in the world. The jalapeno jelly is next level. If you want to listen to some 50s music and down a po boy, this is the only place to go.
Theyve updated their menus and have kept the long term favorites, I cant imagine them improving upon perfection.
Was really happy to see the patio seating opened for the season! It was a bit chilly as we were finishing up but I enjoy being able to sit outside. Got the deep fried oyster po boy with yam fries (SO GOOD), and my companion got the pulled pork po boy. We shared a piece of cornbread to start, and I got a key lime pie which I ended up eating the next day for breakfast (ALSO SO GOOD). Total came to about $70 for the two of us.
Still awesome after all these years ! I think the gumbo might be even better Our waitress Carrie was really nice, fast and friendly. Diner style restaurant is pretty nostalgic. It was also super clean, well run and good value. Food : 5/5
After years of walking by the establishment, I finally went in. Why sid I wait soooo long. The food was a solid 12 out of 10. It reminded me so much of being in New Orleans. Cant wait to go again
my fav place to eat some soul food in Edmonton, Gumbo is delicious, fried chicken is tasteful, crispy and not heavy . atmosphere is like a 50s dinners, servers are professional and kind ... you need to eat there Food
This is my go to spot with one of my friends. I love the old timey 50/60 vibe. The Po boys are most excellent and they have a few cocktails that are dam tasty. The staff is always a delight and engaging. Next time I go I will have to take pictures, I keep forgetting too. BEST SWEET POTATO FRIES IN THE CITY.
One of my favorite spots in the city! Best place to grab a Po Boy outside of Louisiana (or at least in Edmonton)
After years of wanting to try this place out, we finally had the chance to go! This place is an absolute MUST if you are in the area. I had the bayou jambalaya and it was super delicious. It had a little heat but it made it that much more tasty. The key lime pie is an also a must try. These guys know what they re doing!!!!!
The place Ive come the most since moving to Edmonton 4 years ago. Very unique dishes compared to other restaurants around. I love the Catfish Po Boy and their specialty sweet potato fries. The only thing Ive disliked here is the Alleykat spicy beer. Edit: 6 years now and its still top 2 favourite for me. Moving back to Ontario in a couple of months. I will miss you, DaDeO
We were 7 people with an 11yo kid with us, so we were not allowed in, as they identify as a bar. We went to a brew house, instead, and had no issues getting the kid in and not being sent off by the silly house rules.
Amazing food, cool little joint. Mussels and crab cakes are outstanding!
Da De O is absolutely phenomenal. If you happen to be reading this review, just go eat there immediately!! You will be SO glad you did. My fiancé and I were in yesterday for lunch and we were beyond blown away. Honestly, the Da De O combo I ordered was by far the best meal I ve EVER eaten in my life. I have spent significant time in New Orleans and my food at Da De O was tastier and more flavorful than anything I ate there. It s in a whole different universe. My fiancé adored his Fabio combo as well. He said the fried chicken was unbelievable. The flavor, spices, quality of everything they served us absolutely top notch!! Every single part of my dish complimented the other parts, playing together flawlessly. They know what they re doing at Da De O that s for sure. Just go there already!!
What a great find! Great vibe, great food, and great service!!!
Rude and entitled workers
DaDeO restaurant was amazing!! The best Cajun food in Edmonton and possibly the best sweet potato fries in the world. The staff is friendly and the service is prompt. Highly recommended. Food
Got a Philly cheese steak PO boy with sweet potato fries and coleslaw for take out. Absolutely delicious. It was hot with lots of melted cheese and meat. The bun was fresh. The fries were very tasty with a bit of spice. Crunchy on the outside and soft inside. Definitely try this out!
I completed love DaDeO but the order was incorrect. Deeply disappointing. I will order again despite the mix up because, like I said, I love the food. I ordered through Skip the Dishes.
Went there tonight for dinner, havent been in a long time. I didnt think the food was very good. Had the blackened Catfish poboy with potato hash. The Catfish was mushy, & the whole sandwich lacked flavour. The potato hash tasted like it came out of a box. The service was good & I like the atmosphere, though music was a little loud to talk. Im going to New Orleans soon, so will be interesting to compare the food down there to here. Ive been to NOLA before & pretty sure the food is much better than what I had at DaDeO.
Came here happed to be poboys special
Got to be one off the best little gem s in Edmonton, this is my first time here but won t be my last , the food was amazing so much better than expected 10 /10
Such a cool spot. A must visit if you like yummy food with an interesting atmosphere.
Great atmosphere and food Highly recommend the Bayou Gumbo Food
Cool place with a 50s diner vibe..best sweet potato fries ever.!!!
Fabulous food, service, and atmosphere.
First word. WOW. First time trying this place, all I can say is how extravagant this place is. A slim little spot. The atmosphere is so homey is and really brings the 50s vibe, I love all the little nic knacks they have on the walls, and the little music players on each table. (Is for show cannot play lol) I went in for dinner, although normally you should have a reservation, just because this place is so busy; not surprising, being on Whyte ave on a Friday. I was sat down immediately. Service was a little slow but by all means I understand because there were two servers, I ordered the Gumbo $8! For a huge bowl and was it the most flavourful Gumbo I ve ever had, nothing will compete to it!! The hot sauce on the side of the table as well is spectacular, I wish I remembered the brand but WOW, yum. I also ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich which was phenomenal. Please check this place out, it s 100% worth it. The prices are pretty reasonable considering it being on Whyte Ave. Will be back!!
My absolute favourite restaurant in Edmonton. I ve had many celebrations here. Over the last several years, I ve been eating my way through their menu. The vibe is always always chill and I love their music selection. The staff is friendly and attentive.
From Calgary and was obsessed! I will definitely be back.
The best Philly cheese steak.
Really hearty and comforting southern style food. Staff are always wonderful and I love the atmosphere of the entire place. An Edmonton institution! Here s to another 30+ years!
BBQ Pulled Pork Po Boy and Key Lime Pie. Youll thank me later.
Used to frequent here more often when in University, food is still as good as I remember, you still get the mini scones with jalapeño jelly, and the staff still have that friendly and eccentric je ne sais quoi.
Great food and awesome ambiance!
Very cool ambience. Super friendly staff.. Delicious food. What more could you want?
DadeO has been one of the best places to visit on Whyte Ave for more than a decade. I d give them 8.8/10 for their food and ambience. Personal favourites include: - Blackened Catfish Po Boy, especially on their Po Boys Monday - Sweet Potato Fries: One of the best in the city
I ate here just once on a trip to Edmonton and the fried chicken was the best I have ever had. Its sad because no fried chicken anywhere that Ive had since has measured up.
Cool vibe, Po boy was so so.
Authentic southern style food with a very cool atmosphere. Excellent service! The place was packed and we received our food quickly from the friendliest staff. We each had the Po Boy, blackened chicken and catfish. So fresh, deliciously seasoned & loved the mayo. Dessert was the strawberry beignets which were so amazing. I want to try the Bananas Foster next time and there are many other items I cant wait to go back for. Highly recommend and I would reserve a table as it seems like its always busy.
The food was amazing and the servers were great. 10/10 experience
Old 50s style diner on Whyte Avenue in Edmonton offering up southern Louisiana style dining. The service was top notch. Great and friendly service and very helpful with the menu. The space is so hip with the old school diner feel. The food is fabulous. Jambalaya. Wings. Mac and cheese. Pie. So delicious. 5 x
A fantastic spot on Whyte. It is hands down the best soul food Ive had outside of New Orleans. The food menu is perfect, and you cant find a better poboy North of the Bayou.
Good middle of the road casual food
Fun place to get drinks and poboys with friends!
Great food here!
First time trying Dadeo and we were very impressed! The complimentary biscuits and jalapeño jam were amazing. We shared the crab cakes to start - awesome. Then shared the blackened chicken po boy and bayou jambalaya. Both were amazing, and the sweet potato fries are to die for. We were persuaded to try the mini donuts for dessert, they didn t disappoint. Staff were friendly and service was great. We will definitely be bank!
One of my favorite places to visit. The poboys are amazing, and if you get a side of their sweet potato fries congratulations! You have just ordered the perfect meal, now all thats left to do is enjoy it while soaking in the vibes of an old school diner. Treat yo self and get down to DaDeOs, no thanks required but youre welcome!
okay so the place itself is cute, food was good...but went in last night and we saw a mouse and told the girl serving us and said they KNOW they have mice. Disgusting to know that theres mice there and wont shut down to get the place exterminated. also the manager or whoever we spoke to was really rude about it. never going back.
Lovely place, good food..great menus ..my spots now.
Delicious and very reasonably priced. The poboy special is unbeatable. Love the classic diner atmosphere to the place
Food is worth every penny. Tried their chicken/shrimp Jambalaya, it was amazing. Best ever tried. Dont forget to try their complimentary cookies and home made Jalapeno Jam. Best ever, sweet and tangy. Little upset that our server didnt tell us about daily specials, heard him telling other customers, but it was too late for us as we were finished with our meal.
My husband swears by the sweet potato fries! Aways great food! :D
Food was perfect, had the catfish po boy! I highly recommend!
One of my favourite places to satisfy a sandwich craving. Absolutely obsessed with their Po Boys & sweet yam fries (must have!!)
Service was perfect. Meal was perfect. Thanks !
Really cute, great service, and decent food. Unique place and one of the few restaurants in the area I think is worth a return trip.
Coming back to my review, 5 years later to add photos. Still love it! Pictured is half a shrimp po boy with gumbo, half a blacked po boy with sweet potato fries, bread pudding & chocolate cake. Great food, served in a timely fashion. Staff is friendly. If you are visiting, I recommend the sweet potato fries...SO GOOD.
Enjoyable restaurant, we enjoyed our dinner.
Unfortunately I won t go back I ve tried this place twice and the food hasn t been good either time. The first time I got the Philly cheesesteak and the meat was chewy and stringy the second time I tried the pulled pork and it was mushy and not enough flavour.
Service was disorganized, not timely and not clean. Extremely dark venue without enough supporting light. Attempt at theme, but is not seemless as it doesnt all fit, especially the music choice. One main walkway that the 3 servers pounded back and forth on really impacted the experience. As for the food.. I probably could overlook all the rest, if it was above average. Will not return. 1
Satisfactory food & service. So far so good.
What a great place! The menu is full of great options and and the Po Boy sandwiches are delicious! The decor is brilliant and the music brings back so many great memories! Give it a try - you will not be disappointed!! Vegetarian options: So many options both tofu and veggie ..
Great Cajun spot on Whyte Ave. Had the catfish po boy and a Radler w/ bourbon and they were both delicious. Staff know their stuff and everything came quickly.
This is one of our top favorite places in the city to come and enjoy a meal and some drinks. The food is always delicious here, they also have some good vegetarian options for my partner. Personally, I usually go with the southern fried chicken or St. Louis ribs, those are by far my favorites. The service is also always great here, and the restaurant itself has a really cool retro vibe and atmosphere.
Had the bayou jambalaya and it was very very good. Just the perfect amount of spice. Good portion for price and couldnt eat it all. Not only was the food great, but the service was A1. The server was amazing in all ways. If only all servers were like her.
Everything weve had here has always been amazing!! Hot wings and ribs are also 10/10.
I never write reviews, but I had to for this place - best place to eat in Edmonton. Hands down. Get the seafood jambalaya. Itll change your life.
Food was wonderful. Staff were friendly. It was a nice night so sat outside on the patio. Only complaint was that when we sat outside (after checking in inside), we waited for about 10 minutes to even be acknowledged and have drink orders taken. Once we flagged someone down, the service was quite fast and very friendly.
What a great restaurant! Really charming decor and atmosphere. An old school diner done properly, right down to the two-person booths and diner counter. The food was great! Their poboys are known for a reason! The service was fantastic and despite it being very busy we werent neglected at all. I will absolutely be returning.
Love the food here. Can t go wrong with the Philly cheese steak and sweet potato fries. If you still have room, the key lime pie is amazing.
This place is unreal. A must stop restaurant. The food, atmosphere and drinks are all top notch.
First time coming here and wow, Ive been missing out! Got the catfish poboy, sweet potato fries, and key lime pie and the flavours were incredible! Service was also great, which I cant say for many businesses anymore. Will definitely be coming back!
Always on point. They dont mess with a menu thats always worked. The servers are kind and speedy. This place is an institution on Whyte and deserves to be.
Yum yum! Would go bck!
Love this place was hoping to be able to get a job here but unfortunately I moved too far away either way still love when I visit that the food is always on par as well as the service
Had the opportunity to stop by there last night. We had a crab cake po boy and the combo Dadeo and the combo is definitely the one to get! It was flavourful and hit the right spots. It was spicy but delicious so you wanna keep going. The place itself was kitschy with diner decor and Day of the Dead statues. Overall I d go back to try other combos and their fried oysters.
The server suggested the sweet potatoe fries and they were definitely great. The best I have had. Our server was very attentive without being in your face all the time.
Very good service! I had the oysters on the half shell with the spicy sauce. They were fresh and delicious.
Great gumbo and the cat m fish worth
Po boys were delicious
The poboys are always delicious and fries are a local favorite. Food comes out quickly and tasty.
My absolute favorite place to eat in all of western canada!!
Ive gone to dadeos a few times now. Had the corn bread, fries, crab cake po boy and thr jambalaya. Thr Cajun food was excellent and thr food came out pretty timely as well. I really like the look of the restaraunt as well. Looks kind of like a southern dive bar with a neon glow making it one of the more unique restaraunts in Edmonton.
Good food with quick service.
A friend of mine took me here for lunch. The food absolutely blew me away, and the sweet potato fries.. Oh My! They are definitely the best Ive had in all of Edmonton. The server was delightful, attentive, and charming. We sat on the patio, while small, it wasnt crowded. We still had the breeze, could hear the music (which was loud enough to hear but not interrupt conversations) The menu options were great, and well priced for such a small diner. I would definitely recommend and have been back more than once. And will continue to do so. Its a fantastic restaurant/diner.
If youve ever watched the Simpsons episode where Homer eats his way through New Orleans, the fried oyster poboy from DaDeO felt like that: amazing.
I had a great time pigging out on oysters at dadeo on my latest trip to Edmonton. I enjoyed the decor of the establishment and the general atmosphere. I tried one of every oyster dish on the menu. They were all good, but the fresh oysters in the half shell are my go-to.
Dadeos dinner is that nostalgic experience in dining thats becoming rarer everyday. Tasty food, unique decor and furnishing, great staff. The mini cakes with jalapeño spread and sweet potato fries are synonymous with Whyte Ave food culture. Hasnt changed in 20 years. And thats alright.
Omg. Amazing!! My first time here, I had the fried oysters poboy (never had an oyster before) it was INCREDIBLE. Also had the fritters (went with all 4 flavours) and the calamari to start. Portion sizes were way bigger than expected, and everything was sooo good!! Try the fritters, holy cow. So impressed.
Calamari was perfectly cooked. Had the four-tune fritters and they were huge and all very good. Not really an oyster guy but the oyster poboyo was pretty good. Big portions.
Poboys are crazy good.
Fantastic Meal and Fantastic Service!
The shrimp po boy was so good! The yam fries are different and tasty and I the key lime pie was a nice light dessert.
Restaurant is a good vibe. Food was alright. Has the calamari and wings. The wings were not my fave but the calamari was decent. Good service and atmosphere.
Dadeo s is not what it used to be. My wife and I popped into here for an early dinner on Sunday as part of our date night. I had been here 8 or so years ago and remembered it to be fairly good. We ordered wings to start, a blackened catfish Po Boy, a Bayou Burger Po Boy and sweet potato fries as a side for both. The wings: they appeared previously frozen and the bbq sauce tasted a lot like ketchup. They weren t horrible, however, I would not order this sauce again. The blackened catfish Po Boy - I ll start by saying neither my wife nor I have tasted catfish before, so take this for what it s worth: It tasted and exhibited an extremely fishy odour with multiple bones still within the meat; No warning was given to us about the bones which was naturally unexpected in a sandwich. The Bayou Burger Po Boy: I agree, probably not the most authentic Cajun item to order from a Cajun restaurant, however, I enjoy good burgers and wanted to try something different. The patty was downright gross - cut in half and laid across the bun. It appeared to be a previously frozen store-bought burger which was incredibly disappointing. The meat was bland and extremely watery. The famous sweet potato fries: These were unfortunately underwhelming. They were inconsistent in that some were noticeably undercooked and others were nice and crunchy. The seasoning was tasty in addition to the dip, however we did not finish them. We couldn t finish our meals and unfortunately left over half our meals on our respective plates. When the server returned, we told her we were done eating and she took our plates away with minimal questions asked. After I paid for our meal, I asked if there was a recent change in ownership. I was told no, and the restaurant has been operating with the same owner coming on 30 years. I told her the reason I was asking is because I had been here previously, 8 or so years ago and the food served to us tonight was extremely disappointing. I felt I was reasonable and even took the ownership over what we had ordered stating maybe we just ordered wrong tonight. and proceeded to ask questions about the beef and whether it was made fresh, in-house. I was told yes. We inquired about the bones being in the catfish and whether or not it was normal. She hesitated and stated Fish usually have bones. While I appreciated the server defending her place of work, I didn t appreciate the demeanour and how she came across as not caring about what was just served to us. We left the restaurant hungry and continued on with our night. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant and will not return. We love to support local restaurants, however, when the food quality is sub-par at best it s hard to justify any desire to return.
Shrimp Po Boy for lunch was amazing!
Amazing food and service. Best Louisiana food Ive had outside of Louisiana.
Really cool retro vibe, service was friendly and the po-boys are out of this world
Decent. A bit pricey
So so good! Some of the best food Ive had. The staff were great and I loved the vibe. Better Cajun food than new Orleans.
Great vibes, love the decoration and the art. However, the food was just okay. I got the combo dadeo, and the food arrived cold. Same thing for my friends food. We told our server about this and she was very nice about it.
I got the combo fabio, jambalaya rice was excellent, the ribs were succulent and falling off the bone. the chicken was a little dry and over fried but overall I really enjoyed it!
Good Po Boys Definitely want to come back to try more Food : 4/5
I came here with a few friends, loved the food! Very delicious! Staff/service very friendly and great. Love the diner vibe inside, will be coming back for sure!
Awesome food with an excellent vibe. I was there on a Friday evening and as busy as it was I never felt neglected by our server in specific or the staff in general. 4th time Ive been and still just as great!
Stellar place to take a date. Food was fantastic and the service was top notch. I recommend one of their po boys!
Walking into DaDeO is transporting yourself back to a Southern 1950s diner! Everything about the place fits it. Theyve gone all out on decor, music, ambiance, and it pays off! The only thing better? The food!! This is the ultimate in true Southern Cajun comfort food! The crab cakes were crunchy outside, and flavoured to have just a little Cajun kick, and full of flakey amazing crab. The bread for the Po Boys was so soft and fresh. I dont think Ive had anything that close unless it came right out of the oven at home. The perfect vessel for holding the toppings. Both the chicken and catfish were moist and blackened just right (if youve ever had it done wrong you know what I mean here). Not overdone but still getting that good char and spice. The Jambalaya was top notch. Not salty (again, if youve had it wrong you know what I mean), and a really good variety of seafood. And the sweet potato fries!!! Omg drool! I am ruined for them anywhere else. They are thick cut and coated in spice (mainly paprika I believe), and are just the most incredible fries I have ever had. I am going to dream about these until I can get back here. The staff were also incredibly amazing. So friendly, and making sure we understood what we were doing (like deshelling the crawfish). They really went above and beyond!
Pretty sad that the quality of this place has regressed so much in the last few years. The atmosphere is still really neat, a retro diner with old school vibes. However, the food leaves much to be desired. We went here recently for lunch, with both of us ordering the half-poboy and soup/gumbo combo, and also a order of fried oysters to share. Well start off with the good. The jalapeno jelly has not lost its charm and remains a fun appetizer, and the fried oysters were actually quite good and tasty, not as greasy as anticipated. The catfish poboy was just okay, salty and a bit dry. Unfortunately, the bad outweighs the good threefold. The calamari poboy wasnt very fresh, and was instead cold, soft, and salty. The soups were even worse. The gumbo was extremely salty even by our own standards, but was somewhat bearable. The tortilla soup, however, was not. The tortilla soup was seasoned so generously that it tasted as salty as the sea itself, which means it isnt really fit for human consumption. Trying to power through a quarter of the bowl essentially turned us into humanoid sponges, with all the moisture sucked straight out from all the saltiness. Would definitely recommend staying far away from these liquid bioweapons. Not sure if it was just a new cook or what, but this place used to be great. Totally not the case anymore and we are sad to see it decline.
It gives 1950s New Orleans vibes and the food is great. Had the fried shrimp dumplings and chicken wings. Went back for their chicken sub, nice stuff!
Omg, I love this place. A bit on the higher side, price wise, but well worth it. Amazing Cajun cooking. Got the gumbo and corn bread. Came with a wonderful jalapeño jelly. Big portions, super filling. Parking is nuts, but its Whyte Ave, so to be expected. Would definitely go back anytime.
Cant believe this was my first time coming here. I dont visit Edmonton that often, but glad I made DaDeO a stop on this trip. I had the fried oyster po boy with the sweet potato fries. Delicious! Service was great too, very friendly staff. Great atmosphere too. Thanks so much for lunch!
Vibe is absolutely perfect! The food was delicious and our server was amazing. Such a sweet Canadian touch on the NOLA experience, will definitely be back next time Im in town. Food

Great value Po Boys on Mondays for $14!
This place continues after all these years to impress! Highly recommended if you are on Whyte!
Quirky old-school styled diner. The wings are juicy and meaty. Food
The sweet potato fries and the pulled pork with the bread were amazing!! Ill be back for sure! 100% recommended.
I have no idea how this place passes health code.
Decided to come here for lunch as the reviews were really good.. we got appies which were great! But the pulled pork sandwich was the worst I ve had in my life! It was like mushy salt beef it actually made me feel sick.. my friend got the oyster po boy and he almost puked there was green poop still in the oysters!!
Fun space. Delicious Breakfast Po Boy with unreal sweet potato fries.
The staff were incredibly friendly and the service was incredible, the food came quickly and i must say it was probably the best meal I ve had all year. I got the sausage Po boy with sweet potato fries and cornbread. The cornbread was warm and crumbly, the sweet potato fries were incredibly well seasoned and crispy and paired amazingly with the herb mayo they serve with them and the sandwich was absolutely phenomenal. Everything about that meal left me wanting more, including the chocolate cake! And for the price it was a steal. 10/10, would recommend to anyone looking for a good meal on whyte.
Excellent food atmosphere and service.
Came here with a friend back in September. I really enjoyed the ambience and decorations. The food was also great! Good portions, good customer services, no complaints here, haha!
