A NEW LATIN INSPIRED RESTAURANT EL JARDIN - "THE GARDEN" Influenced by International Latin flavours to offer a unique dining experience with vibrant cocktails, adventurous wine list, and craft and international beers which compliment our inspired food. Located in the Mercer Building.
Service was poor 2/5 at best. Took us 17 minutes to get any kind of hi and water from a waiter .. And that was after we flagged someone down. After that once we were ready to order nobody would come take our order. We again had to flag someone else down. Took a 3rd time to finally get our order in. Food was a 4/5. Fish tacos were good, chorizo tapas was good, tuna appetizer was good as well. Espresso martini was delicious.
Myself and a couple friends stopped in before a concert at Rogers. The atmosphere was very inviting they usually only are open on Sundays for event nights, couldn’t believe it wasn’t more busy. We ordered tapas drinks and mains, the food was phenomenal, so good and came out very quick! We had Maria serving us she was so lovely very present without being at the table too much. Everyone who worked there we interacted with was so welcoming. Definitely will be back to try some more delicious foods, be sure to check out their drinks/shots!
Celebrated a birthday here and the food and atmosphere was perfect. Party of 20 arrived at different times and staff/ waitresses was quite flexible. Will be returning for the plantain chips.
What a rip off! Went here for a birthday party, the service was terrible, the waitresses have no idea what they’re doing or how to serve. I ordered carne frites and they asked if I have allergies or dietary restrictions. I said I don’t eat pork and she said okay no problem we can swap out the beans because they have bacon with rice instead. She never mentioned she is going to charge me for that and on the receipt they charged extra $5 for a small bowl of rice! They also said there’s 18% gratuity because we’re a group of 8 but again on the receipt it’s 20%. It’s not a big difference but at least know your numbers not just throw random words out. The steak was so chewy inedible and I asked for medium rare but the steak was more like extra well done. Will never return
I really don’t understand the hype of this place. The food had no flavour at all. The only things that’s worth ordering is the drinks and short rib tacos, which look different in store then on their Instagram. I feel bad leaving this because the service was so good but the food was lacking. The Spanish tomato Crostini was soggy and the chimichurri shrimps had no flavour. My partner ordered the Cubano and it was so dry.. it’s crazy because this place is still really busy and people say the food is amazing so I’m not sure if we just had a bad experience.
My dad is visiting me from the Caribbean and I took him here to catch-up as he hasn’t seen me in years. The food, the atmosphere and most importantly the service was AMAZING. We let them know that we had not seen each other in a while and that we would be slower with ordering food and they were so kind to us!! The drinks, the food, everything was so good. Highly recommended!
Came here for dinner downtown dining week. It was $35 for your choice of 1 appetizer, choice of tacos, and a dessert. Of the appetizers we tried, I like the hummus the most as it had a unique flavour with the spices that were used. Of all the tacos, I liked the fish the best, except it was a bit soggy. The meat on the short rib tacos and the carne asada was a bit tough. The last thing was the dessert. It was a churro beignets with dulche de leche sauce. This was my favorite item! The warm mini beignets with the sauce was very good. Overall, we left quite disappointed. The food was only okay. The service was quite slow. We went in hungry and didn’t expect to have to wait so long for each item to come out.
This restaurant was probably one of the best places I’ve ever eaten at. I tried a bunch of different tapas and a few cold plates and they were all delicious! The waitress recommended some really great options. We also tried 2 of the tacos; bartered fish and carne asada. They were both very tasty and definitely worth every penny. The workers were also very kind and very helpful. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Edmonton area. I will definitely go back there.
Had an incredible date night tonight! The raspberry mojito was to die for (might ve had a second one) and we loved the carne asada and lamb tacos. The service was memorable and quick, everyone was super friendly! Shoutout to the manager Emma, you ll see us again soon!
Delicious food, great service and inviting/cozy atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back. Vegetarian options: Tacos Vegetarianos
My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary here and we had such a good time. We originally had plans to go elsewhere but ended up here spontaneously, which we did not regret. Our server was so lovely, as well as the owner who came by to check on us frequently. Although the music was a little loud, we really enjoyed the atmosphere and the complimentary wine. We got the grilled shrimp and ancho chicken which we enjoyed. They were kind enough to give us free shots as well as free dessert - the grilled pina colada was the perfect way to end the night.
Amazing cocktails! Bold, unique and most importantly, delicious. Even saw the bartender shake 3 cocktails. At once! Check it out for some of the best drinks in Edmonton.
I tend to be a needy eater (celiac and vegetarian) and there were tons of options, plus the staff made extra effort to keep my food safe. The service was FANTASTIC!
Emma, Harley and the guy at the front door (didn t get his name ) were all awesome! We were visiting and had no way to get home after the concert and they helped us get sorted while giving the best service even though they were slammed! The cha cha cha was probably the best cocktail I have ever had!
Great food, drinks, atmosphere and service! El Jardin is 10/10!
Great food, service and even better people!
Amazing place to come for a meal! Maria was super nice and attentive, everyone there was amazing to be honest. We will be back for sure
Came tonight for a birthday dinner and was extremely disappointed in the experience. To start, it s insanely loud. We were basically screaming our conversation to each other. People don t pay to listen to music they want to speak to the people they came to dinner with. The waitress did ask to turn it down though so I appreciated that. The waitress was kind, and I could tell she was trying her best. She explained the menu well and provided the appropriate steps of service you d expect at a restaurant of this calibre. However, drinks were extremely slow to come out from the bar. I d estimate we waited around 20 minutes for them to arrive. Food came out staggered but I understand that s to be expected with a larger party. That being said, the food was not worth the cost at all. The prawns (these are shrimp and should not be mislabeled as prawns as they were the size of a quarter) were extremely overcooked to the point of being dry. Annoying for the price. Lamb sliders were okay and probably the highlight of the meal. The steak fajita panini had about three 2inch strips of overcooked rubbery steak and a handful of undercooked bell peppers with a tiny amount of cheese. Yuca fries were passable. Caesar salad was a huge disappointment and didn t even finish half the full size we ordered. The flavours don t go together well at all and I ve had better dressing from a squeeze tube. Feta cheese does not belong on a Caesar salad. At least not the way it s done at this restaurant . Overall, our dining party all thought the food ranged from bad to just okay. We will probably not be returning. There s better options for this price point downtown.
They ruined my favorite dish (El Bistec) it was so good before, but they changed something, the flavor sucks now, used to be the greatest marinade. Please make it like you did before.
Emailed El Jardin over a week ago with no response, that was with them reaching out via email to ask how our experience is. Seems like it is just a generic email automatically sent out but no one actually reads them or cares to follow up. Unfortunate especially given our sub par experience. So will now post my email as a review: We came to El Jardin around 5:45pm this past Sunday to grab dinner before the comedy show. We arrived and ordered promptly and were there well before the dinner rush. We have been to El Jardin many of times before and have had wonderful experiences. It has been one of our favourite restaurants and we have recommended you to many friends. This last visit we had was by far the worst experience weve ever have had, however we are thankful it was not our first time there or we would not be returning. It seems that the food menu had been changed a bit since we were there last. We were excited to order our favourite appetizer, the gouda tequenos, however they are now made with mozzarella. We still ordered them, but it seems it was quite a downgrade, and we would not order them again. Our server also took away the serving plate with the dip still on it as my fiancé was just about to eat the last one, so we did not finish them. The breading seems very thick now and the cheese is nowhere near as flavourful. We are actually really devasted that the gouda tequenos are no longer a menu item. That was our main reasons for choosing to come there that evening prior to knowing the menu changed. We also ordered the mojito ceviche which was really good, as it has been in the past. Our appetizers both came out before our drinks, a raspberry margarita and a Peroni. Our server, who seemed new, came back after 5 or so minutes to ask what kind of Negroni my fiancé wanted. We told her that it was a Peroni, a beer, where I motioned towards another couple who had the beer bottle on their table. 10 more minutes passed and the bartender delivered my margarita, which was good, and she also asked my fiancé what he had ordered for a drink. Again, we said a Peroni. Our server came back a few minutes later with a Peroni and had apologized, and then had to leave again before serving the beer because she couldnt open the bottle. She then told him that a second Peroni would be compensated. We were then informed our main order would be delayed, no explanation why, and that she was sorry for the delay. Our tacos arrived, which now also with sides which we both thought were unnecessary to come with tacos, as we had already ordered appetizers and typically elsewhere there are no side dishes with tacos. We got fries and a salad. The salad was fine, but the fries seemed undercooked and were flavourless. The tacos were fine, however the tortillas all seemed to disintegrate and fall apart after the first bite, making a mess on the plate, and we dont recall that being an issue in the past. Our server had asked us if we wanted any free dessert or shots to make up for our experience that evening, which we declined as we had a show to get to and did not want shots. We had been hoping that perhaps some kind of additional discount or compensation would be applied to our current bill, due to our not great experience, and not more items for free. When the bill was presented, which took a couple of trips to our table and back for the Interac machine to work properly, I noticed the 2 Peronis on the bill. I pointed it out to her and she left again to get it discounted from the bill. Needless to say, we were disappointed overall and felt we overpaid for a lacklustre dining experience. The server apologized many of times but we just couldnt wait to leave after our time that we had there. It was one thing after another. We are hesitant to return.
Great food, service and atmosphere!
Amazing drinks, amazing service from Alexa and one of a kind food!
the food was not great. everything was just very spicy. I had carne asada tacos they were fine, not flavourful but very spicy. my husband had steak frites the steak was over cooked (should have been medium rare) and the fries felt as if they were frozen. it also came with beans they were the best thing we had. we had tuna to start it was good but very spicy. it s as if there was no flavour, just spice. also the restaurant was dead there was one big table and us, a table of 4 and the service for both drinks and food was quite slow which I didn t understand. would not recommend.
Wow, The tacos were luxurious, I am Mexican and very demanding when it comes to tacos, one of the best birria tacos I have ever had in Edmonton. Good job
Best fish tacos I ve had! The drinks are also amazing!
I want to start this post by saying the service and cocktail list here were outstanding! The food was terrible. The plantains and potato tapas we ordered came out with literally two potatoes and 4 dry plantains with almost no sauce. The short rib taco wasnt even short rib. I make short rib all the time at home, its meant to be fall-off-the-bone tender having marinated in juices for several hours. This had the consistency of a poor quality cut of steak being cooked well done. It was dry, tough to chew through, with zero flavour (but tons of salt). The tacos also do not come out on house-made tortillas, they are served on one dinky store-bought tortilla that falls apart within seconds. They dont even double up the taco like proper Mexican places. For $24, or $8 per taco, youd expect the tacos to be substantial like at Marlo, where they house-make their tortillas daily and are 5 inches. No, at El Jardin these tacos look like what youd make at home (and where they would probably be better). The strawberries and cream was literally canned strawberries theyd clearly microwaved and sprayed some canned whip cream on top of and tried to charge $12 for. The plate was watery and soggy - I am amazed they even had the audacity to bring it out with that presentation. All-in-all, style over substance, and not worth a penny of what we paid for. Save your money. I understand why this place was empty on a Saturday evening.
Located across the street from Rogers place, this bar offers an assortment of cocktails. I only got to enjoy the Rose Garden while eating here, but was it ever delicious. The servers were very friendly and I even got to meet the owner who was kind, charismatic, and welcoming to all her patrons. I ordered the Prawn Taco Chino which needed some hot sauce as the flavouring was bland. When I asked for some hot sauce, the bartender told me they didn t have any and offered a spicy guacamole (he used a different name to reference it). I had already tried some of it previously from my friend s dish and was dissatisfied as it tasted like guacamole and cayenne pepper. For those who can truly handle spice, it was not spicy at all. I asked for any type of hot sauce and was explained by the bartender that they did not have any but that the cook previously, made an in house hot sauce. I even asked not even tabasco? . I was again, told no and was offered thai chili peppers as an alternative. As a latin inspired bar offering latin influenced cuisine, there should be hot sauce available. The bartender was nice and comped my meal for something else which I tried to decline numerous times as I felt like it was not needed. He insisted and I appreciated the kind gesture. The service is very professional, warm, and welcoming. I would recommend this place for drinks. However, I would hold off ordering food if you re looking for authentic tacos.
Don t order food, but the drinks were amazing. It wasn t very busy on a Tuesday evening and the bartenders were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. One of the bartenders even bought our group a homemade shot that was absolutely amazing!
Amazing food and great service, the manager Emma is awesome!
The service was excellent here. Great vibe for dinner and cocktails. Highly recommend the El Bistecca steak.
Unreal spot to grab some food and a nice cocktail. Great and knowledgable staff - the manager Emma made our night.
Great atmosphere, huge selection of tequila and mezcal, cocktails and amazing food! Plantain chips with bean dip were perfectly crafted
Meat was really tough, not much flavour. Desserts were great though.
For how upscale this place could be, I was super disappointed to see so many tvs and it wanting to be a classy tacoria but also a sports bar Don t know if I d go back unfortunately Food
My boyfriend and I went here last weekend to celebrate something in hopes of trying something different, so we tried latin inspired food El Jardin. The place was nice, good vibes, good drinks, but the food was mediocre at best. The food we ordered seemed like I could find it at T&T if we just heated it up a packaged food a little bit. Needless to say, it was not worth the price we paid for. I was confused why there wasn t a lot of people inside on a Saturday night but I understood after. My boyfriend and I are enthusiasts of trying different cuisines but this place just disappointed us in terms of food. The drinks were very good though! Would come back for drinks but not for food.
Beautiful spot, great service & really enjoyed the food & drinks. great date night spot!
Went here with a group of friends for downtown dining week and had an amazing time! The food was very delicious, service was great, and the value for their downtown dining week menu was unreal. Highly recommend.
Awesome spot to stop before a game or concert. The food was fantastic. We had an assortment of tapas and some tacos, everything was perfect. The sauces all added to the overall flavour. The cocktails were well balanced. Booking a reservation was super simple through social media. Some of the business hours werent up to date on all platforms, so worth reaching out even if somewhere says they might be closed. Kid-friendliness: The restaurant is kid friendly
Went here for Edmonton dining week! We ordered the gouda tequenos, achiote chicken skewers, and the pepita hummus for the appetizers. I highly rec the pepita hummus! Honestly the best I ate out of everything served. We all got the carne asada and a prawn taco chico and were really disappointed. The carne asada was very, very dry and didnt have great taste. The prawn taco barely had any prawn. The appetizers and the virgin mojitos we ordered were the highlight of our dinner. We had churro beignets for desserts, which was very fresh and delicious. Overall, it was pretty worth the $35 set. Though, Im not quite sure Id pay full price for the carne asada (I think its $23 for 3 very small tacos). Other than that, I would definitely come and order their pepita hummus and drinks again!
Do you want to support a restaurant that takes advantage of their staff and steals from them? Well, that is exactly what will happen if you dine at el jardin. Hey management, we know you comp peoples drinks or food all in the name of being nice, but do you know that you are taking away hard earned money from your staff that actually do the work? Do you understand that the longer you keep this up, you wont have a job yourself? do you wonder why all your staff quit on you? Probably not, because you know exactly what youre doing. The food here is already subpar, so save yourself the time and money. Thanks for listening - a very disgruntled customer who overheard too much. DONT SUPPORT.
Im not sure if we came to El Jardin on an off night, but considering how many high reviews they have, our experience was underwhelming. The coconut lemonade tasted more like coconut water than anything else. Considering it has rum and simple syrup there was not much sweetness and almost no tang from the lemon juice. Lemonade this was not and for a $16 cocktail, I would expect more complex flavor. The battered fish tacos had thick, tasteless batter on the fish. Awkwardly large pieces of cabbage in the slaw, which made up most of the taco. One of my three tacos had a tiny bit of sauce with some spice, but the overall flavor was quite bland. The pepito steak sandwich had decent flavor, but only a few small chunks of steak throughout. Most definitely not worth the price for what was basically a cheese sandwich. The chimi prawns were bursting with flavor and cooked well. The lavender paloma was delicious. The real grapefruit juice was appreciated and the lavender flavor came through nicely. Our service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was okay, very loud music, but I do appreciate not being crowded close to other tables. Considering the high price point of all the items on the drink and food menus, and the mediocrity of the majority of our food and drinks, will not be returning.
Literally the best service I have ever had! From start to finish. Our server gave us a menu tour with information and recommendations. Drinks were amazing and food was delicious. 10/10 recommended coming here.
Incredibly humble service with amazing food! We cant wait to come back after our next oilers game
Service is good, the drinks are amazing. That being said the drinks and the food had been inconsistent in taste. We tried the same dish side by side and could clearly tell they did not taste the same. I would NOT recommend the Tacos, any of them :(
The service here is outstanding. I m an avid fan of finding new dinner spots and have never experienced better service in the city. The fish tacos are the best ever and the ambience was on point for a Friday night. Will absolutely be back. 10/10
Kyla (i think thats her name!) was absolutely amazing & made our date even more fun & comfortable. We ended up getting a free dessert on the house - so thank you again! will be coming back for their creative foods & amazing staff/atmosphere!
We had a great night at El Jardin. Our service was top notch. Our server gave us a tour of the menu and was very attentive all evening. The chimi prawns, achiote chicken skewers, the guac and chips, the fish tacos, and the churros were all amazing! And the mojito was to die for. We are already planning when we will be back next!
Nice!
Good vibes here, drinks are excellent. Prawns came out overcooked, sent them back, got new ones that were better, and they were graciously taken off the bill. We had the Petito sandwich and the Carne Frites, both with yuca fries. Both entrees were good, the cook on the steak was great and sandwich had good flavour, but it wasn t mind blowing. We travel a lot and are hard to impress food wise but this was a decent effort, which is hard to find in Edmonton. What really stood out was the service, our waitress was great. A special mention to the gorgeous Lisa, I assume she s one of the managers, her energy, positivity, and all around friendliness not just with us, but others she encountered with was amazing. She s a gem!
Everything was Amazing! The ambience, the food, our server Marco . The best part of our dining experience was Lisa, she went above and beyond to make sure our first time dining experience was TOP TIER. A busy Saturday night she floated around effortlessly and made sure all the tables were taken care of when her servers were occupied. Thank you El Jardin
Good service but underwhelming food and drinks for the price point.
Best customer service I have received in a restaurant. Lisa was the best and made our whole night so much fun! Can t wait to be back :) Food
We had a really lovely experience at El Jardin last night! The service was amazing from the moment we walked in and were immediately greeted by a host and manager. Our server and the manager were so attentive. Even the food runners check if you need anything, how everything is, and know exactly who ordered what. Really an amazing experience especially related to the service. Food and drinks came out quickly and were delicious. Well be back and I highly recommend. Thank you!!!
Service what great. Jugs of sangria you are spending a lot for ice.
Fabulous food, wine, and service! Well be back!
Lucas was our server, gave us a tour of the menu and was very attentive. First time here, he made the experience. All staff are professional and efficient. Really great service, great food, great atmosphere and great prices.
El Jardin is the best restaurant experience I have had in longer than I can remember! The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and informative. The vibe makes you want to stay for hours and the cocktails were perfectly made. The menu is unique and every dish ordered was absolutely delicious and worth ordering again. I can t wait to return!
The friendliest staff in Edmonton with an amazing atmosphere and food! The cocktails are literally an Art Form! Mixology at its finest! WOW! Definitely coming back and Highly recommend this unique experience!
I recently dined at El Jardin. The food and wine were excellent. What stood out most was the exceptional service from Lucas. His attentiveness made our experience truly memorable. Highly recommend!
Great food and service! We will definitely go again.
Amazing attention to detail. The experience was unreal. This is the spot Edmonton needed
We went out for dinner for a friends birthday. 3 families. 6 adults and 5 kids (7-12). The staff went out of their way to ensure we had what we needed and more. Wonderful experience. Will definitely return.
We were sat by the manager, and then we waited for about 10 minutes or more and were not greeted or even given water. During this time at least 3 other tables were sat and immediately served water. There were about 4 workers standing at the front of the restaurant, including the manager, and still we were not served. We would ve waited a bit longer but we would be late to the game we were attending.
Great little Lounge.
It was an experience and a treat all 3 of us we loved it
I didn t take nearly enough pics of the food at this place, but it was all excellent! It s a mix of Mexican and Cajun/Creole, with items like Churro Beignets, which are unexpected, but hit the spot. The service from the moment we arrived to the second we left, was superb! We enjoyed tapas, a main course and three out of four options for dessert, and there wasn t a complaint from any of us. Staff and management went out of their way to make our first visit a winner, including comping our desserts for birthday celebrations, so we highly recommend and will definitely return!
Great service and yummy food, highly recommend the El Bistec!
Kyla was a fantastic server. She provided exceptional service and her articulate descriptions of the cocktails and desserts were fantastic. The tacos were good but the cocktails were amazing. The Coconut Lemonade tasted like a vacation in a glass. My new favourite cocktail.
Quinn was my server and he made my friend and Is experience wonderful. The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. The food was really good. And the service was quick.
Awesome place. Food and service was divine. Highly recommend
Very great food, drinks and the best food service I ve ever received in the city
From the moment we walked in and Lisa greeted us to the moment we left we had a wonderful experience. The raspberry habenero margarita is perfectly balanced and delicious. The chorizo sausage is the most flavorful appetizer, the tuna ceviche was awesome, fish tacos were great and the bistech steak was delicious. The fat in the steak was perfectly rendered and the chimichurri and arugula salad made it such a fresh and flavourful dish. Spencer the manager stopped by and reminded us the service industry is still alive and well in Edmonton! Thank you everyone, we cant wait to come back. Perfect night out.
Absolutely a great new Edmonton venue. Extremely happy with the Service Ella Provided and many Thanks (to Clive) for the pre- opening invite. Incredible food, atmosphere and staff. Plus you have to try their signature drinks.
A rare gem in Alberta that serves authentic but approachable latin inspired foods. Try the Plantain Bravas you won t be disappointed. A great place for tapas and cocktails after work in heart of downtown Edmonton.
Absolutely amazing food and drinks, am already planning my next trip back!
I LOVE THIS PLACE!! Big shoutout to our server and the manager (Spencer) for giving my brother the most welcoming and friendly service we have experienced. The recommendations for the food and drinks were top-notch my brother is going to bring his wife soon and I m going to assemble all my friends. Thanks for having us and for being so hospitable!
Some of the best food in Edmonton and friendly staff make this a must try if you are looking for someplace new to go out. Highly recommend.
Had a awesome experience last night at one of Edmontons newest and hottest restaurants, this is a must try place if you re downtown! Thank you to the owners and staff for a wonderful experience I will be back !
El Jardin is a lovely new upscale Mexican restaurant in the Edmonton dining scene with great cocktails. Great spot for dinner before a night out. The service is what stood out the most to me. Reminds me a lot of Javier s in Las Vegas. Cocktail choice: Rose Garden Menu recommendation: Mojito Ceviche
Excellent attentive and friendly service from Hayley and the new renovated space is nice. Food was hit & miss when we visited last week. On the positive my husband ordered the Buenos burger and he thought the flavour was exactly the same as what he grew up with in South America so he loved it. The Spanish olives were nice - too many mini ones and only a few large ones though - however the peppers were incredibly salty. The burger came with house made escabeche which was also overwhelmingly salty and vinegary to the point or being inedible. The side of ensalada fresca was generous but somehow didn t jive all together. I was excited to order the lomo saltado as I was expecting to be transported to Peru however their take on this classic dish was disappointing. The meat had no vinegary kick in the marinade and the few pieces of meat had some gristle and fat, there were no fries but instead came with two pieces of fried plantain (and no chips like mentioned on the menu) and the added chicha beans were unappetizing in both flavour, taste and appearance so it was not eaten. I wish they would ve stayed more true to the flavours and ingredients in this dish. Drinks were okay - I d try something different if we ever return. I think this restaurant has a lot of potential and fills a much needed void in the realm of more upscale Latin based eateries but think perhaps some of their menu items still need some tweaking. Oh and fyi for those with younger ones, when we went there were no high chairs available. Accessibility may be an issue with anyone in a wheelchair or stroller as there are a set of stairs to get up to the space and I didn t see an elevator, at least from the front entrance.
The food was excellent, and my server (Kay) was really friendly and gave me great recommendations on the food and drink. Im excited to go back and try more from the menu.
Great dining experience! And the food..... Wowsas!
This is a great place to have a meal with friends, family, alone, with your imaginary friends and even with people you meet at trade shows! The people are spectacular, they make you feel welcome and educate you on how to make it the best experience. The manager, Spenser is funny, kind, and helped me decide on the banana split.
Loved the ambiance. A must go place. Vegetarian options: Being a vegetarian it s the perfect place to dine. Perfectly crafted dishes for all the vegetarians. Also their Mojitos are the best. Specially the strawberry one. Highly recommend it.
Great place for Latin cousine :)
I have already gone twice since opening. The cocktails are great (I especially enjoyed the mezcal dragonfruit one). The food was very good as well. I love a good ceviche. However, the best thing about the experience was the service. The staff was knowledgeable in helping us select our drinks, and the manager even brought us complimentary drinks. I will definitely be back soon.
Dont waste your time. Food is average at best. Although server was pleasant, long delays with receiving drinks and food was not served to the group at the same time. Overall a disappointing experience.
Wonderful menu. Sauces made from scratch. Fair pricing.
We had an outstanding dining experience at El Jardin today! My boyfriend and I started our meals off with the ginger mango sangria and strawberry basil virgin mojito. As for appetizers, we decided to go with the chimi prawns, escabeche and tuna tiradito. The escabeche wasnt my favorite, as I am not a huge fan of pickled vegetables to begin with. I thought it was too sour, but my boyfriend enjoyed it. If you like seared rare tuna, I would highly recommend the tuna tiradito - the sesame ginger pico glaze was superb. We were very satisfied with our mains as well. I had the modelo battered fish tacos while my boyfriend had the basa a la talla. The batter on the fish tacos reminded me of the batter on tempura and it wasnt heavy or greasy at all. Our server was warm and welcoming. She shared her recommendations with us after presenting us with the menus. Although we didnt end up ordering anything she suggested, it was nice to know what the most popular dishes were. We brought our dog with us and enjoyed the patio. The manager and staff seemed like dog lovers and gave her lots of compliments!
Amazing food, good selection of wines and cocktails, great service!
El Jardin, located in downtown Edmonton is a must try. My wife and I, while hanging out in Edmonton, saw a segment on Global, where someone from El Jardin was making a cocktail. It looked so delicious we had to go try in person. They did not disappoint the food and cocktails were amazing. Did I mention the cocktails were amazing!!!!
Great restaurant, atmosphere, staff, and food. The servers and managers are knowledgable and personable. Great late night option downtown. The Gouda Tequenos are excellent.
We went here on a Monday night, a party of 6. We were greeted promptly, and offered a wine sample on the way to our table(we had a reservation). The server was very friendly, and the atmosphere is very nice and trendy. The menu selection is good. We ordered drinks, 2 appys and entrees each. The server did say our birthday person would be offered a free dessert as well. The drinks came out, not at the same time, but nothing too major. The appies came out in good timing, and tasted great.(chips and guac and chips and pico). Unfortunately after that, there was some major inconsistencies with the timing of the entrees. The first 2 came out, and we were told the others were following behind. About 8 minutes later, one more entree came out, then 3 minutes later another, then about 4 minutes later another, and finally another 4 or 5 minutes later, the last entree made it out. By the time the last entree came out, the first 2 people were done eating, and another mostly done. The server, and management were VERY aware this was not ok, and apologized many times. We do not know where the error occurred. The food all did taste great and had great presentation. The management apologized multiple times, discounted our bill heavily(we did not request it, he just offered. Although we would have requested something be compd if he did not offer), and also bought 2 desserts on the house- banana split churro was delicious. We will return to El Jardin as the front end staff were great, the food was great and the place is clean and welcoming. If we experienced the same thing again, we may not go back a third try, but hopefully they iron out these kinks and do well in the future.
10/10 recommend!
Staff were friendly but food was mediocre and expensive. Had the carne frites and the steak was tough. Fries were good but inconsistent. Poor acoustics and blaring music made conversation difficult as everyone in the restaurant was yelling to be heard.
Dont get the fish tacos! Nice atmosphere but waited 15 minutes for someone to stop by our table after being seated. Probably wouldnt be a big deal but I was parched from walking around all day downtown and was dying for a glass of water. So disappointed in the fish tacos. The batter was so thick that I couldnt even taste fish. And it was such big pieces that I had to crush the fish (fried bread) so I could fit the taco in my mouth. I saw a review on instagram and really wanted to check this place out but this was a really disappointing experience. I tried a featured cocktail and it was okay. Id expect more for the price though. Wont be returning.
The strawberry mojito pitcher is amazing! the guacamole is to die for and I can t say enough good things about the staff! We joked around with a few of them, they were kind, friendly and just awesome! The space is nicely decorated
Must have caught them on an off day because most reviews are quite positive. The drinks were amazing (though they did take about half hour to get to us), the food was good, but the service was not what we were expecting. Had to ask several times by separate servers to have our bill. Will come back - hope they have the kinks ironed out.
Just went here for a date night. For a place thats only been open for a month and a half was amazing! The staff and manager was great and even treated us to a free drink a dessert. I HIGHLY recommend the rasberry habenaro margarita and their cheesecake dessert! I will definitely be coming again.
Celebrated our wedding anniversary with family on our return visit. Again great ambiance with an exceptional selection of cocktails, diverse menu and decadent desserts. Attention to service details by the manager made all the difference. Definitely our latest go-to restaurant downtown. We will be back and looking forward to happy hour coming soon and location # 3 by this group. Can t wait !
I had a great experience trying different drinks and food. Fish tacos are the bomb!
Beautiful venue with attentive staff, and really good tasting food- have tried various tapas and tacos, the Buenos burger, and the Basa entree. All unique compared to most other restaurants. Must try the churro banana split!
I hosted an event with 35 guests last night and had the most incredible experience. Every single guest told me their meal was amazing . I had the blackened chicken which was delicious! The cocktail menu is so diverse and people were loving the new things they tried, like the truffle negroni! Management was so helpful and accommodating with all of my tech and set up needs and requests. They really went above and beyond to make sure my event was special! Everyone kept commenting on the atmosphere and how much they loved the space. Several of my guests booked their own events later this month while they were there because they loved it so much! The chef, the kitchen staff, the bar staff, and the servers were all at the top of their game! Very friendly and personable. Our group was a bit all over the place and moving around and Alex and Annie (servers) handled it all so professionally we were all very impressed and felt very well taken care of. I will definitely be going back to try their burger everyone was raving about it. And dessert! I was too busy talking to guests and doing my presentation but I m excited to go back and have a more relaxing dining experience and trying more things! This is 10 Hospitality Group s second restaurant (El Corazon is a must try as well!) and I highly recommend checking it out! Thank you for making my brand launch event so so special!!
It s nice. I was actually excited about eating here, not so much now. I got the most expensive plate (steak). It was plated nicely but my food was cold even the meat. The food wasn t anything special. None of the food came out the same time. Drinks took forever as well we even had to ask for water. The music was extremely loud we needed to yell just to talk to the table.
Amazing food and cocktails! Every single staff member went above and beyond to ensure we had an excellent experience. I will definitely come back to try everything on the menu. 10/10 recommend!
I was excited to take my sister on her birthday to experience the new restaurant in town. I would like to start high because the service was exceptional, the Haitian lady walked us through the menu and probably the best service I ve experienced this year so far, please give her a raise because she really gave us her best. However the food was very underwhelming, if I could I would give it -0. There was no seasoning, the chimchuri prawn sauce was nice but the prawns were over cooked. The Spanish rice, I couldn t finish it that s how bad it was. No seasoning at all but spicy, I guess the balance wasn t there. My sister starter of plantain had no seasoning. The short rib taco was not falling off the bone as explained, it was over cooked and tough to eat. The drinks weren t bad but they were not any different from Earls, I d give them a 2/5. All I can say is I can make better food at my house and I wish we had gone elsewhere. I m confused as to how the ratings are on a 4 start average, either people are not being honest or something is wrong there. P.s I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. It is over hyped and over priced and not worth it. I m just really disappointed because I really wanted to love this restaurant but I guess everything that glitters is not gold.
Great service and great food. Would recommend to anyone and would go again.
Great food and service, we will be back!
I had a very amazing experience at El Jardin! Ella was my waitress and she did an excellent job at making sure everything was accounted for and that me and my table were content with our meal! We will be coming back, hopefully get Ella!
Had a spectacular experience here! From the sultry ambiance to the delectable eats; El Jardin has made my shortlist of Edmonton favourites. Fantastic and knowledgeable service by Lucas, while the manager Sam (?) was kind enough to come introduce himself and made sure we were taken care of. Will definitely recommend and already looking forward to revisiting!
Kay is amazing!!! Such great service. She is the Gordon Ramsay of Edmonton!!
I was there for dinner the other day with a medium sized party. Usually servers at other establishments are good at communicating that there will be an auto gratuity and how much the gratuity is. I happened to be the last to pay after going to the washroom and the server handed me the debit machine with $100 already programmed in. He didnt provide me a physical copy of the bill but I had a cocktail, an appetizer, a main, and a dessert so I didnt think much of it. He didnt mention to me that an auto gratuity was included so I tipped 20% and left with my group. While out for drinks later that night I was told that no one received a physical copy of their bills and that auto gratuity was actually included. I calculated my tab using the prices on the website and it only totalled to $82 with GST. The server actually had put in a 22% auto gratuity for my tab to total $100 and I had already tipped 20% on $100. At the end of the day, I ended up tipping 47% on my $82 bill and was none the wiser. The shady business practice left an extremely bad taste in my mouth and I dont recommend going here unless the establishment enforces higher standards of hospitality for their servers. I used to work front of house in the hospitality industry for 5 years at a local casual fine dining restaurant prior to landing my current career and Im disgusted with how my experience unfolded.
Lucas and D were great serving us with a spectacular service and amazing food and drinks, definitely worth to stop by and have a great time!
I finally had the chance to stop in at El Jardin and I must say I was thoroughly impressed. The vibes, customer service, drinks, conversations, laughs... all on point. Cant wait to go back already. Great job guys, beautiful addition to the Mercer Warehouse and Ice District.
The tacos were probably the worst I ve had ever in Edmonton. Very bland and meat was cold. I think this is a good place to go to for drinks but that s it.
I am extremely happy with both experiences I have had at El Jardin! The care effort that all the staff put into giving a phenomenal experience is beautiful. From the moment we walked in it was smiles, engaged conversations and great food and beverage recommendations from the servers and managers. Huge thanks to Lucas, and Mehraz for going above and beyond to help pair some fresh and delicious meals with creative new cocktails! I will be coming back regularly, especially with Hockey season back in full swing!
Great food and the staff was super friendly!!
Beautiful interior and extensive cocktail list. Food was tasty, but incorrect orders were received. Service was mediocre to poor. Groups beware of the auto-gratuity. While an auto-gratuity is completely reasonable for a moderate sized group, it should be disclosed to customers. Guests were not informed of the auto-gratuity of 20%, nor were they provided with bills to show the price breakdown of their meals or the tip included. When asked whether there was an auto-gratuity included, the server said yes but encouraged guests to provide an additional tip, which many did unknowingly. Every other restaurant I have visited informs customers of auto-gratuities as they pay, but El Jardin does not seem to have this practice. I had been here before for cocktails with a group and enjoyed my time. I hope this doesn t happen to other people. Addendum: Managers responded and provided each patron with a gift card as well as a refund for those who overtipped.
Went out with my friend for dinner. Best customer service i have experienced till now in restaurant industry in edmonton. Thank you so much guys. You guys are the best. Loved it Food
First time here today! Great experience! Staff and service was 5-star. Food was fast and fresh. Bathrooms were clean. Great atmosphere! Will be back soon!
Went for cocktails. Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive service. Solid bar top, doesnt make you feel super short Got a taster of wine as soon as we walked in which was an amazing touch. Keep it up Food : 5/5
Went on a Wednesday night and received quick service. Our server (Alex) gave us some great recommendations. The drinks were all delicious and we were told the syrups are made in-house. Overall, the food was great - the yuca fries were a bit dry and I did not enjoy them as much as regular fries.
We had dinner and Marco was our server. I m writing a review because of him! He was absolutely fabulous, had amazing recommendations for both drinks and food and was extremely knowledgeable of the menu. He made our experience better than I could have hoped for. All of the staff was extremely friendly as well as amazing food. Highly recommend the espresso martini! Thank you Marco for the great experience.
Great service, food, and atmosphere. High end Latin American food, cocktails, beer and an ridiculously extensive wine list.
Lisa Was Amazing, Best Ambience Before an Oilers Game!
Lisa was the most amazing person ever. So friendly and kind
Lisa was amazing! Her team and attitude towards are table was outstanding. Kaelin provided amazing service as are waiter, drinks were served rapidly and constantly
Amazing service and we loved the food!! We had the prawns, tacos, and sangria - everything was so delicious and very flavourful. The restaurant itself is also extremely lovely.
Their bartender David was EXCELLENT and frequently asked if everything was to my liking or if I needed anything. His knowledge of the menu was great and guided my choices (bean dip, chicken tacos). Their Rose Garden cocktail was divine.
slow service...took 30 min to get a margarita. cold food with stale sides. one of us didnt even get her food... just go next door to baijiu
The steak was really good but the music was so loud I couldn t hear the waiter or my date across the table from me.
Average food. Terrible service. 20+ mins to order food. Forgot some of our drinks. No server checked in with our table. We waited over 30 minutes to grab our bill after the wait staff cleared the table after asking twice. We were here on a Monday evening and the restaurant was about half full. Would rate zero if I could. The worst part was we had a party over 6 so gratuity was already included. My guess the staff didn t care because they were guaranteed a tip. 20% mandatory tip is robbery for service like this. Will not be dinning here again and cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Having previously enjoyed a fantastic experience at El Jardin a few weeks ago, I recommended it for this special occasion, but unfortunately, the service and mandatory tip policy left us thoroughly unsatisfied. Upon arriving on a Monday night with a party of nine, we observed that the restaurant was about 65% full, with three waiters and a manager serving approximately eight tables. Regrettably, our experience took a downturn from the moment we arrived. It took 45 minutes to receive our drinks, and an additional hour just to place our appetizer order. Two forgotten drinks further prolonged the wait, and our waitress inquired about additional drinks only once throughout the two-hour duration of our visit. Despite prearranging the celebration details, including bringing our own cake, the actual execution was far from satisfactory. The manager, who initially assured us of handling the cake presentation, disappeared without notice. After a 30-minute delay, we requested our waitresss assistance, only to be met with a disheartening response of not knowing the managers whereabouts. The eventual arrival of the cake, after a total wait of over 40 minutes, was followed by an additional 20-minute wait for our bills. While we understand and respect the mandatory tipping policy, the 20% rate felt exorbitant given the subpar service we experienced. Waiting 2.5 hours, enduring minimal attention from the staff, and being served only one drink and one appetizer were aspects that fell significantly short of our expectations. Despite expressing our concerns to the waitress, the response of miscommunication about the cake did little to alleviate our dissatisfaction. It is disheartening to report that what could have been our go-to spot turned out to be a disappointing experience. The attitude and service we encountered were truly appalling. The perception that the mandatory tip rendered our table less of a priority was palpable, and it is regrettable that such a promising establishment left us with such a negative impression.
