such a hidden gem!!!!! these days you need to call ahead if you want to order. vegetarian options :)
A hidden gem of Edmonton. The service is amazing and I love the personal touch of the owner. The food is so tasty and fresh. Everything is made on the spot. Small menu but that is when you know they have fantastic food. Every dish is amazing. Super affordable and huge portions! It is disheartening to see other reviewers giving the elderly lady a bashing. She is super sweet, we always had a great chat with her, talking about food and life in general. All that aside, the core reason for my frequent visit is that they serve great food! I hope more people would come and support this restaurant! It’s totally worth your time.
I can’t express enough how wonderful this place is! My boyfriend’s family are from El Salvador and they love this place! The pupusas are mouth watering and the best I’ve ever tasted! We’ve done take out the last few visits and this place never lets us down!
Hidden gem, and one of our favourites. We’ve been coming here for years!! Extremely reasonably priced, quality ingredients, and the food is cooked with love. Small local restaurant and sometimes a one-woman show. Limited hours, and door is sometimes locked for safety purposes. Knock, and be patient for her to come to the door. The breakfast plate and pupusas are mouth watering and our go-to’s.
Small, quiet restaurant! The front door was locked, don’t be fooled someone came & unlocked it for us! The food was absolutely amazing. The restaurant was small with local charm! I will be going back to enjoy pupusas & tacos!
We came here via recommendation and we were not disappointed ! The food is authentic and delicious. We ordered the pupusas, and wow the portions are perfect. The atmosphere is very homey and warm and The staff is friendly. The restaurant is spacious and very clean and well kept. We look forward to coming back to trying the rest of the menu !
This is my go-to place for pupusas! Pork-stuffed corn pancakes for those of you who aren't familiar. The menu has much more traditional Salvadorian food and the staff are friendly. Definitely a great place to sit down for Sunday lunch.
It was good - family style vibes. It wasn't very busy when I went. Horchata wasn't great but the rest of the food was okay. My favourite was the papusa.
You had me at PUPUSAS
Best food in that part of the city for a great price. Owner is very nice and sweet lady. Fair pricing for the amount you get.
My family ordered a large order for take out. Didnt take as long as I expected..food was great, Service was great, restaurant was clean. Awesome we will return again.
Amazing tasting food at a great price. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The owner, such a sweet lady, extremely friendly. Definitely will be back. 5/5
I love this place. I been here many times. The family is very nice to me.
The food was amazing,if you are looking for authentic salvadorian food, you found the right place, also the staff is very kind and friendly
If you want a place to relax and have meal prepped by Gordon Ramsay s very distant family, this place has food that will make you skip a heart beat
Just a simple restaurant with simple, homemade like food.
Dang tasty papusas/cheese empanadas n friendly service. Ill come back.
Food is amazing...try it and you will see what I am talking about. The people who run this joint are so sweet and accommodating. If this place looks closed, just knock on the window and they will open it for you eventually. They lock the door to keep the disorderly people in the neighbourhood from walking in
Great place for El Salvadoran food. Price was good and service was great...must try!
Nice celebration for Mothers Day May 14!?
I really love the pupusas, they are freshly made for you, and the horchatas are bomb! Really enjoy this Latin restaurant would give it 100 starts if possible haha..
One of my all-time favourite restaurants. The staff are lovely, food is delicious and the atmosphere is laid back and inviting.
Really good pupusas. The owner is very nice Lady
The best pupusas money can buy. Always friendly service in a laid back atmosphere. You will not regret supporting this unassuming and delicious family owned restaurant. Food : 5/5
Authentic family restaurant something that s hard to find those days
WOW! Ive always had the Saladorian breakfast & pupusas, cause theyre AMAZING... but today I ordered the Chilaquiles!!! New on the menu and just fantastic! Bravo Rosa!
Great food and many vegetarian options.
Amazing authentic food. A friendly family. When the chef comes to your table - you know they care.
The pupusas were pretty good, but our group was told that was all we could order despite the other menu options. While dining, new customers that came in were ordering empanadas and receiving them, which was somewhat disappointing.
Kid-friendliness: Nice place to dine in and take out pupusas are so good , I recommend this place to everyone, we are looking forward going back again
Looks like a cafeteria, could use a much nicer element.
like in the town
Very delicious and authentic. Loved the experience!
Great service delicious food!
Friendly people and nice place.excelent atention
Pupusas have always tasted so good, no shortage on their curtido (unlike other pupusa selling places). Plus their staff is pleasant & friendly.
This place is not recommended owner is so arrogant she said doesnt need publicity. I cant waste my time writing. I geve one star because there is not half.
Good food, attentive services, two lenguages on site( spanish& english)
Bad customer service and food terrible!
Really good pupusas
Very nice place to eat! The prices are right and the portions are solid.
Very bad service. bye.
The papusas are amazing, and only $3.50. This is a cool hole in the wall restaurant for a great price. Ive never tried food from El Salvador but it did disappoint.
Fantastic little place!! Food is excellent ( must have the loroca, mushroom & bean papusas ) & has that homemade taste. The service is very friendly & helpful. Prices are really good. Definitely wont leave hungry. I WILL be back!! Come try this place!!
Absolutely delicious! Ive been coming here for a while now and never disappoints. Amazing flavors and outstanding service!! Thank you mamenches!!!
Delicious, authentic El Salvadoran cuisine! Best papusas in town by far. I came here because my friends were highly recommending it, and can guarantee I will be back again. When I went, the chef took our order, she was very kind and the passion of her cooking and heritage shows through her food.
Absolutely the best Salvadorian restaurant evee
Great food, clearly very authentic. Very friendly staff, refreshingly high spirits despite how the circumstances have affected their business.
Service is warm, friendly and attentive. Our server took the time to answer our questions and was just lovely overall. The food is EXCEPTIONAL! Fresh, delicious and just completely wonderful. We ordered the loroco and the chicarron pupusas, tostadas, the Salvadoran breakfast plate, and tamarindo to drink. Everything was absolutely delicious!
Authentic and delicious family cooking, passionate and dedicated owner, warm and welcoming place. I always visit when on Edmonton.
The sauce is scarce and thin at the same time. The girl who served us was very friendly but the owner was rude. To never come again.
Very good home style food
Authentic El Salvadorean food, it is so delicious. Prices are reasonable. The location is in downtown and the area seems a little run down but do not be turned off. The food is fantastic
The most wonderful Popusas in Edmonton.
Great food, wonderful owners
Super tasty home-cooked El Salvadorean food. The restaurant itself is very spartan, but the food and friendly service is what you really want to come for. Be sure to try the pupusas!
If there were ten stars i would give ten, there are no such great salvadoreans Restaurants in North America!!!! Love!!!!!!!!
Good pupusas and tamales drinks were good price would definitely go back
Delicious.
Very homely. The food and the environment
It was good love the pupusas
Pupusas just a delight Service really friendly Prices very reasonable I always get my pupusas to go . Need to dine in sometime. I do recommend you try them ..yummy
This restaurant is an absolute gem in Edmonton. There is almost always free street parking, despite the central location, and the food and service are outstanding. The prices are very reasonable and being inside instantly transports me to Latin America. I can t recommend them enough!
Incredible food, friendly and personal service, best pupusas in town!!
All day everyday I could eat here so good
Always an excellent meal.
Super friendly service, yummy food -the pupusas are definitely worth a try, we did the pork and loroco ones, and the horchata beverage is like a nutty sweet chocolate free chocolate milk. Dont judge this place by the the entrance, this little hole-in-the-wall is a charming little family establishment and well worth the trip. The Spanish music also sets the tone for a fun casual dinning experience. There is some street parking northbound infront, but you can also park down the street.
I will never go back
Food was ok until I got my stake. It was way too over cooked and when I told the lady that works there, she started arguing with me. I will not go back.
Good
Delicious food
Delicious food and a very clean restaurant. Definitely visit again.
Excellent food!
Very rich very good food
Great place for pupusas in Edmonton.
Very friendly, we are Christian Pentecostal and are always welcome here. She has delicious traditional Salvadorean cuisine. Very friendly and good prices. Thanks
Best food on Earth ^-^ friendly staff.
This is my favourite Salvadorean restaurant. Everything tastes so authentic and my family loves it here. The food is very easy on the greasy side of things and still so delicious. The owner and her family are honestly the sweetest people. If you like pupusas and other Latin foods, you gotta come here.
There are a few possibilities about the glorious reviews that this place is getting from some people. Either those people are her friends, her family members, her church crew, or she paid them to give her nice reviews. Right off the issue, the owner, who is the old lady sitting around and giving orders, is a total tyrant. If you tell her that the place is cold, she will tell you to put your winter jacket on, if you tell her that the music is too loud, she will tell you that she likes it that way. She would argue with the customers if you have a question or a comment. The location and facility are totally mediocre. The atmosphere, feels like you just walked in this ladys living room. The list of very unpleasant issues is very long. How ever, the killer for me was knowing that they dont sanitize their dishes because she likes to do it the back home way to save electricity. So, even if the Alberta health inspectors will go to check the place, they will find the perfectly working dish washer machine, but they dont use it is only for showing.
I dont recommend it
Very bad service
Love the hot sauce
It was very good!
Been going here since I was little. My favourite pupusa restaurant in Edmonton
Fantastic food, and wonderful staff. I m wondering why Salvadorian food isn t more common here, it s just beautifully simple and delicious. At Mamenche s the service is beyond just service, it s advice. I ate here last with an out-of-town friend of mine. He is a massive human and can consume vast quantities of food. Our waitress suggested the absolute perfect amount of dishes for the two of us. It was no more than $20 each, including drinks. It s really the closest thing to eating at a friend s house to be found in Edmonton. It s also the first place I will take anyone who asks to go out for a meal. I honestly can t recommend Mamenche s enough.
Probably the worst pupusas and tamales I have ever eaten.
If you want to be bullied by this arrogant lady ( owner ) go there, she is very rude plus has a dirty way to cook, lady this is canada treat people with respect!!!!
Excellent food. Excellent prices.
Food is very authentic and has a home made feel. Their daily specials also keep things interesting if you want a change. Would definitely recommend.
Great family restaurant-- food was beautiful.
Great poupousas good service feels like home cooking
Sopa de pata and hand made tortillas priceless
Great service, family environment, best pupusas in Edmonton, big portions, really good prices!!
One of the absolute best restaurants in Edmonton, and definitely my favourite Salvadorean restaurant in the city. Best staff, and the food is amazing in every way. Super fresh, flavourful and a ton of variety.
delicious. the papusas are the best I have ever eaten.
Always good food...
love this place. great pupusas and tamales. the owners/staff are great and mslqke you feel welcome. food is dirt cheap. they could charge way more than they do
The food super delicious.
I love the lady here. She treats us like family every time we go in. I am addicted to pupusas, and they make great pupusas, and what a great selection. Last time i went i had their sopa de res. It was great.
Amazing food and great staff!
Great service and addictive food. Edmonton needs more restaurants like this.
Great service, delicious food and drinks , always eat there
Wow
It was my daughter s birthday on Wednesday Mamenches is NOT Open on that day BUT my daughter wanted Papusa for dinner . ROSA came in on the day they were closed and made me three dozen papusa they were fantastic best I ve ever eaten I had a chance to see in the kitchen as well as absolutely spotless I would highly recommend Mamenches to anybody who wants to eat delicious food in a very clean environment . Thank you Rosa for going the extra mile and taking such good care of my daughter s birthday dinner I also want to add this was my first experience with this restaurant nobody knows me there . For someone to come in on their day off and cook for me is exceptional in this day and age and I can t thank you enough .You made my daughter s birthday dinner fantastic
I wish can give this peace of junk place zero stars There is one old lady inside there shes not nice at all wont let you talk or ask anything without opening her mouth and thats rude they have no respect for the costumers she got mad at us because we asked her if we can get a side order and we can hear her calling us names inside kitchen because we wanted a side order
Their breakfast was delicious and unlike American breakfasts, doesnt rely on heavy breads to fill you up.
Great food, great people. Love their pupusas!
I like it!
The best Salvadorian food in town. Great Pupusas and service. A place to go if looking for the real deal. Excellent Salvadoran food in Edmonton. Here my wife and I are transported for a while to the closest thing to eating in Latin America. First class service and food.
Friendly staff, empanadas and pupusas are the best in the city. I always have their tacos and theyre always great.
Good prices and delicious food!! Friendly service. Best Pupusas in Edmonton!
Great food and friendly service. I come here at least once a week due to the service and high quality of food.
Amazing Service, amazing food! I will definitely be coming here again!
Over-priced. Basic food. Poor atmosphere. More like someones home.
Very good food, need to be patient though cause the food is made from scratch but its worth the waiting!
If you want homemade authentic food from El Salvador this is the place to go. Everything here is delicious.
Excellent food , excellent service , excellent environment . Nuff said .
Mmmmmm.. Yummy.
