Buck a Shuck Oysters(East Coast) 5pm-7pm everyday In House Only
My husband and I were excited to try this place. We both love seafood and definitely have a favorite restaurant that we usually go to but figured we'd try somewhere else. I can say we were underwhelmed. Nothing was bad. But just underwhelmed for what we were anticipating. I had a seafood risotto dish, he had lobster mac and cheese. Service was good. Atmosphere is nice albeit dark and small. Glad we tried it but we will be sticking with a different restaurant that serves perfectly cooked seafood and risotto that can't be beat!
100% would recommend. This was the perfect date night location. The downtown location had great service, the atmosphere was so perfect. The food was beyond amazing, service was fast and efficient. Thank you for the great service. If you are on the fence about going here, don't wait. Book a table and enjoy! Also highly recommend the baked Alaska to end dinner! Oh and don't forget the Mango Mule drink!
The sea bass here is outstanding, the mahi-mahi is flawless, and the calamari is unparalleled in my experience. Typically, I find some room for improvement in restaurants, but this exceptional establishment has surpassed my expectations entirely.
Great place for seafood! Plenty of parking! Staff are friendly! Food is delicious and a lot of options. Just be prepared for dark environment, your eyes will adjust after though! They can use more local craft beer in their draft!
Nice cozy restaurant with delicious food. Very tasty. I had lobster ravioli and my friend had captain dream. The ravioli was a small portion compared to the Captain’s Delight. The baguette was an add on and did not come with either meal. We also had an appetizer to start -best calamari either of us ever had. It had no batter and a delicious sauce that we dipped the baguette in. See pics below.
My first time at the black pearl tonight and it was a great experience. Cold SEAFOOD tower was excellent along with our cocktails. The cocktails were very refreshing. The waiter was funny and had great conversations with him. I will be going to this restaurant every time I come to Edmonton. Hands down one of the best seafood restaurants I've ever been to. You got to eat here.
I went here with my parents while they were in town visiting. My boss also knows the owner so I had high hopes for this restaurant! We each had a drink to start out and they were delicious. Then we had some oysters to start off with, although I am not a fan of oysters in general, everyone else seemed to love them. Then we ordered our main course and everything was plated so beautifully and tasted impeccable. They were very cautious of my allergies and the manager was super friendly. I can't wait to come back here again!
The very freshest seafood in the city bar none. Black Pearl is in a little hole in the wall on the vibrant 104 Street in Edmonton. There are other restaurants in the city that can do up fancy dishes with sauces and with varying presentations. But for just fresh seafood on a plate, Black Pearl is head and shoulders above all other seafood establishments. The food is extremely fresh and you can taste the quality. The space is very hip. It's very chic but also blends elements of an eatery you might find in the Maritimes. There are two floors to this space so don't let the small footprint from outside fool you. The service is incredible. The servers are extremely helpful and kind. One note... The food is VERY EXPENSIVE. But you pay for what you get. And to be privy to such incredible seafood on the prairies is very special warranting the prices. Make sure you make a reservation! 5 x 🦞🦞🦞🦞🦞
The serves were nice but the food was below my expectations quantity wise.
Place is the tits. Love it. Been coming for yrs
You dont get alot of food here for the amount of money it costs. The half pound of crab is more like a quarter pound! The worst thing about the place is, because we were 7 people, stuck in a corner on a reservation, the manager added a 20% tip to our bill. The tip was $55. Our bill was $273. And that amount was just for me and my hubby. The other couples got charged the same!! Ridiculous!!!! I will never go back there. And I wont recommend the place to anyone.
1st off lest just say the staff are Amazing,. We were 2 hours late on our reservation due to unforseen circumstances. Besides that. Food was amazing, the cheesecake was so heavenly If youve been om the fence, this is your sign to go. Treat yourself to this gem.
If you love seafood this is definitely the place to go! My husband and I took a friend for her birthday cuz she loves oyseters. The food was amazing, the staff was even better. We got the buck-a-shuck oysters, premium oysters, muscles in white wine sauce, stuffed mushroom caps, and lots of drinks... the bartender was top-notch!
This is it. I mean it, stop looking for seafood restaurants and get your a$$ to the Black Pearl. Ive tried the muscles, the crab (Long Crab is amazing), the oysters (Buck-a-shuck is the best deal you will get in the prairies), the COCKTAILS... OMFG THE COCKTAILS!!! These MF put the WoW factor in food! Ive hit up downtown (smaller), and Windermere. Both locations have THE BEST . HANDS DOWN!! SEAFOOD IN DEADMONTON. #EDMONTON #YEG Amazing. Mic drop
Went to the black pearl tonight for the first time! It was an incredible experience, the food was delightful, we ordered oysters to start and they were so fresh and delicious, our mains were so so good, I got the Morrocon octopus and it was so soft and not chewy like at other restaurants I ve been to, overall a great experience, highly recommend as it has now become the best restaurant in Edmonton on my list!.
The food was delicious, the drinks were great, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very fun.
Pricey but outstanding food and service.. Their signature Ceasar is the best Ive had
We ate here prior to the oilers game and to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday. We were a party of six. We sat upstairs and it was a really nice quiet spot for us. The server was amazing, he rolled with the punches, was patient, funny and super efficient, he made our night! Food was incredible as always. Super happy we made this our stop before the game!
We would love to thank the staff of Brendan,Janette,Ray and shak. We had such a hard time deciding what to eat! The service was fantastic and enthusiastic! The food was fantastic! And they made our night we would like to thank you very much for a fantastic night! You made it unbelievably memorable! Everything we ordered was fantastic
me and my girl were having good night here.
This is my 5th time here. It is always a stop when I am in town. The food is amazing. The presentation is exceptional. The bar staff know what they are doing and the drink selection is exemplary. And then there s Shakeel. He just ties it all together and makes it So good. Make reservations, as it is small
We were sat at the table under the stairs and there was a brown liquid dripping off the stairs onto the table. We were at this table, with the dripping on the plates, cups and menus for nearly 15 mins before they moved us. More than a half hour passed from arrival before we were offered water or a drink. The food came out at different times. First, they brought 2 meals (a bisque and an appy) but didnt bring a spoon. 10 minutes passed before we were able to ask for a spoon and inquire about the food for the other 2 diners. We also asked for more drinks, but that took 15 minutes, and they brought a cocktail that wasnt ordered (the person had asked for more water). It was busy when we arrived and it was a concert night, so I understand things arent always perfect and try to have lots of patience, but by the time the first entrees arrived at the table, the restaurant had mostly cleared out, but the service didnt improve. I wouldnt go back unless it was for buck a shuck and cocktails.
I love going here for their buck a shuck and their Caesar flight!
Not worth the money unfortunately ! I had high hopes. Needed salt to make it enjoyable. Flatbread for $30 had only a few pieces of seafood on it. Disappointed.
The service and food quality is average but price is unreasonably high.
Amazing oysters for 1$ cant believe the price its so worth it!
Ok food. Excellent service. But tips starting at 25%?
The service is fantastic and their happy hour specials can t be beat. It s very clean and the menu is expansive and delicious. It is pricey since seafood isn t cheap, but they really know what they re doing and the quality is fantastic. I highly recommend checking them out.
Went for our first anniversary dinner last night. The food was amazing. Our server Erin killed it, she was great. We didnt wait long for appetizers, or drinks. Just a great experience
My favorite restaurant in Edmonton with amazing service! I cant recall our servers name, but she went above and beyond during our last two visits. The food is delicious, and I will definitely return if Im in Edmonton again.
Amazing food favs include seafood risotto, lobster ravioli and lobster risotto Fresh oysters are a must Dietary restrictions: Diner with someone with gluten intolerance Items in menu labelled as GF
It was a first time . Really disappointed, unfortunately .I will not recommend this restaurant. They have HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. We left 10% tip, but we shouldn t do that to be honest. We couldn t get a good read on hostess /waitress , her tone was aggressive when we entered to the restaurant and we couldn t tell if it was just her sense of humor or if she was being rude. Horrible customer service. We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine, but no one refilled our glasses, we did it ourselves. Food was okey and our server was okey, but not one of the best. He didn t make our menu away. The server brought glasses for water instead of glasses for wine. We felt cramped and uncomfortable at the table. We asked the bartender girl, she changed them for us with pleasure and with a smile, but after that this waitress girl pushed me to take her tablet. And she didnt even apologize. When you come to the restaurant you want at list feel welcome there. Save your money and go somewhere else.
I had a fantastic time at Black Pearl. The food was delicious. Everything was so flavorful and fresh. Seasonings were top of the line. The blueberry sour drink I had was very delicious. My only complaint was that the lobster tail was super chewy and took a bit to eat. Just a tad over cooked. Came with a friend, we ordered a main each and then had some plates to share. *it was very hot, they seem to not have air conditioning * We spent about $140 each with tip. Overall, blackpearl is a fantastic place for filling seafood meals. A little on the extreme ensice side but I would absolutely recommend it and I will come here again! Parking: Have to pay to park on the street. City of Edmonton e park machines. Wheelchair accessibility: No wheel chair accessible doors.
Black pearl was an amazing experience. For one of the best seafood restaurants it was not over priced. The server was actually so cool. Me and my finance will definitely be back soon! Although we overdressed because it gave us a bit of pub vibe when you walk in. Pirate ship, rustic feel. So do not worry about wardrobe that s all I ll say. The food was PHENOMENAL
Amazing service, considering they were jammed packed! Food was amazing and serving sizes perfect! Really enjoyed our dinner!
Buck a shuck was delicious! A shame its only a dozen per person. Medium-slightly on the small size oysters.
Birthday party for 8 at downtown location. Cost $603 including mandatory $100 tip. Could not believe Alaskan King crab and mashed potatoes for app. $80 which works out to $160 per pound.
If you like seafood this is the place. Wide selection and all done up to perfection. Prices range all over the place so everyone has a chance to try their food. And the bartending was great!
Huge fan of everyone that works there especially Shak that runs the joint! Great food, atmosphere and great location!
Do not book reservations here, they dont mention their a/c is broken until you get there
3rd time being there. Hate to give this place 5 stars since it can only make it harder to get a table, but....they deserve it. Too bad they dont do buck a shuck oysters anymore (shakes head, winks) lolol
Service was good ! But please bring your on seasoning cause food was very bland. Next time we ll stick to captains boil
Great seafood and love the happy hour oyster deal!
Great food but I wasnt a huge fan of the auto gratuity with only a party of two. I was going to give a great tip but was confused when there was no tip option. To my surprise they threw on a 20 percent tip.
My fiancé and I go here for special occasions about once or twice a year and I get really excited because I am a working chef myself-I have shucked thousands of oysters so I love being on the guest side of a restaurant. We haven t gone for about a year and we were really excited! We were greatly disappointed at how much the menu prices have increased. We ordered oysters as per usual and they were great but then had the salmon mousse crostini and we disappointed in what we got/price/quality for a $22 dish with 4 crostinis that were quite underwhelming. I understand food prices are up but my experience this time around didn t feel like the Black Pearl I used to know for service, food quality, and value.
The service was excellent with fantastic sea food. The atmosphere is excellent. If you like sea food I would recommend this place
Hadnt been here in ages, saw the buck a shuck and decided to pop in. $1/oysters were limited to a dozen but that wasnt mentioned before an attempted reorder. Beet carpachio same price as beef, whatever. Staff attitude reflective of overall environment. Meh.
I ve had Mac and cheese across Canada, across the States. I ve had Gordon Ramsay Mac and cheese at Hell s Kitchen Caesars palace. The Lobster Mac and cheese at Black Pearl downtown is the best I ve had to date.
Always good fresh seafood
A woman i know with 5 last names and I came here tonight and had a great time. Didnt realise its a seafood joint but we just wanted to watch some of the Oilers game. We did but the service was the best ive seen anywhere in some time. A sharp dressed dude let us sit at the bar as we had no reservations. The staff here were all impeccable. From the skill to the enthusiasm i was super impressed. The guy with the bandana and the skeleton earrings was great to watch. He made some foods that we dont like look like something i now have to try. The presentation of it all and his great attitude left an impression. The lady bartender/waitress was great. Everyone on the ball here from the manager down. Wow! Old billybobs not allowed to drink anymore for a while cuz he almost died a couple times recently but his woman had a negroni that smelled and apparently tasted amazing. Bruschetta bread was worth killing a man for. Especially my brother. Eff that guy. The creme brule was effing amazing. Id give up a pinky (or a bro) easily to have another right now. Any staff i spoke to took the time to talk or explain even though they were clearly busy as a moth in yer mamas clothes closet. If you like seafood or wanna try it then go here.
Despite being miles away from the ocean, Black Pearl exceeded all expectations with its remarkable seafood offerings. Each dish was a testament to the chefs expertise, bursting with freshness and flavour. We toasted to 20 years of marriage. It was a night we will cherish forever, and we cant wait to return for future celebrations.
The food is great the service is awesome and the ambiance is so cool
We had a fantastic meal here Friday night. Beverly and Shaq took great care of us. Everything was delicious- the prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was great. Would definitely go back!
My mother-in-law loves seafood and we wanted to treat her to a special meal for her birthday. We were not disappointed! Excellent quality and delicious food, and the atmosphere was great. Brendan answered all of our questions and was very attentive. Thanks so much to Brendan and the downtown team for their awesome service!
The service was good and the vibe of the restaurant was cool. My drink was tasty. But the food was very underwhelming. It is very over-priced for the quality of food you get. The Lobster bisque was fishy and had a pudding like consistency, I did not finish it - neither did anybody else at the table. Our main courses were also disappointing. The Seafood was not seasoned and flavourless. We all left the restaurant hungry and dissatisfied.
Best seafood in Edmonton
The east coast Oysters are the best in Edmonton . Try the tequila treasure ! Janette and Jody makes the best drinks ! Food : 5/5
Loved the tasty King s platter! Our server, Samantha was quick, efficient and knowledgable! Highly recommend this spot!
Not only was the seafood impeccable, but their Filet Mignon was one of the best I ve ever had. Our server, Sam, was incredibly helpful with her knowledge of the menu items and suggestions for our meal. Would 100% recommend this restaurant.
Birthday dinner here for my wife! We ate inside (very nice). We had 3 dozen oysters and the huge King s platter! The shrimp on the platter were amazing; sweet and crunchy (if that makes sense). Samantha our server was very helpful about all the dishes and condiments. Great evening! Oh, and drinks were great too. The Caesar is a seafood meal all on its own!!
We went as part of the Downtown Dining week. The ambiance in the resturant was really cool. We really enjoyes our drinks - my husband got the caesar flight and I got a sangaria. The food was decent. My husband got the dining week special which he thought was a little cheese heavy. He especially liked the mushroom caps. I am not a huge seafood fan and struggled to find options that appealed to me. I tried the calamari - which I do NOT recommend - and the grilled vegetable salad which was delicious.
Great atmosphere, food and service...a bit pricey. The wife and I split the Kings platter. Food
Oyster s! Oyster s! Oyster s! I love this restaurant Seafood heaven Food
Our favourite seafood restaurant
My brother and I love visiting new places. Unfortunately, this was one of the few restaurants I wish we had never tried. Our server seemed like she didn t want to be there. The drinks were extremely overpriced for what they were. For food, we ordered lobster bisque, mussels in white wine sauce, lobster ravioli, and a honey nut lobster/prawns/scallops platter. It started well with a pretty tasty lobster bisque, but it went downhill after that. The rest of the food was barely warm. The lobster ravioli looked extremely unappealing; it looked like it was drowned in gravy. The taste was okay. We were very excited for the platter, but it was also disappointing. The flavors just didn t work together. It tasted too sweet and completely ruined the taste of the lobster. With the tip, we ended up paying over $100 each. For the food quality, I felt like I went to Red Lobster with the prices of a fine dining restaurant. Definitely would not recommend; there are way better places to get seafood in Edmonton.
Blackpearl always gets the job done, oysters fresh, food delicious and staff is fantastic. Janette always makes your time here enjoyable and memorable.
The fish tacos were amazing and my girlfriend really enjoyed the oysters Rockefeller...
The food and drinks were amazing. Love the gorgonzola mussels & the white wine mussels. Both delicious. Definitely would recommend.
We went to the Windermere location and the food was amazing. Our server Yen was absolutely fantastic. Would recommend it hands down.
Love the oyster for a 1 buck. But the rest of the food are mid.
Wow. Excellant food and beverage.
Food just ok , steak is so hard and dry, very expensive for that quality. Very disappointed dor our date.
Second time here and very good experience. Oysters and prosecco at a good price if you eat at happy hour and delicious seafood flatbread. The vanilla negroni is good too. Its a small beautiful restaurant, specially if you love fish.
We had an amazing time at the Black Pearl last night. The atmosphere was awesome and decor very cool. The food was some of the best seafood we have ever had! Brenden our waiter was super friendly and provided us with phenomenal service! We will definitely be back as we are super happy with our visit here. Highly recommend the Black Pearl for a great night out for dinner!
Always have the best experience here. Jodi & Janette are the best there
Stopped in on a Monday. Food was great and the service was even better. Janette and Jody did a fantastic job.
Saw this resturaunt recommendation on instagram. We have anticipated this to be very good quality and I went here with my wife to check it out. We reserved a table a week in advance and checked out their menu to see what wed get, locked in our prices and waited for our day. When we arrived, everything has gone up by 10-15 dollars!!! The food was very salty, portions are small, service was slow, and the prices were steep! Id rather come here for the drinks as that was the only highlight of our visit.
Great service, buck-a-shuck is always a hit. The Moroccan Octopus was unreal. The Vanilla Bean Negroni was a really nice treat. Tip: they serve dill pickle juice as accoutrements for the oysters and its VERY good! Food
Our new favourite place to eat, staff is amazing. Seafood is top shelf amazing quality. Need to book a table well ahead though. Parking: Paid parking across the street
I was surprised at the casual pub-like atmosphere of this very expensive seafood restaurant. I always thought it was a little more upscale. I didn t mind it, but I prefer a quieter dining experience. The Gorgonzola Mussels were very good and paired well with the white wine I ordered.
Everytime I am in Edmonton I have to go here!! Amazing food amazing atmosphere they even have a DJ some nights. I love everything on the menu!! Enjoy
Went for some seafood in yegtown and it wasn t bad.
We had a lovely dinner here tonight! Sam was our server and she was very attentive. She made our experience awesome! The food was unreal, and when the bill came we were shocked at the value - it was such a great deal. We have eaten seafood at many locations and this restaurant really knocked it out of the park. I highly recommend this place, 10/10 across the board.
Listen I was having a great time, the service was good- but Im so disappointed every table got a rose and I didnt? Ouch
I ve been to Black Pearl Seafood Bar downtown many times now after learning about their oysters special and that other places stopped offering similar specials (or increased prices). In terms of food, the must try is their Buck a Shuck. Their other food is decent. Overall, I d give them 8.8/10 for their oyster special.
Have returned many times with the same experience. Always walk away pretty satisfied and my wallet a whole lot lighter. Expensive but worth it.
Food was amazing best seafood I ve had in Edmonton!
Had a great dining experience! We will visit again at some point! Thanks!
Friendly staff and great atmosphere.
We went with a group of 7 for my mom s bday last night and Brendan our server was amazing the food was outstanding first time going there we will definitely be back if you like some spice I highly recommend the Captains Dream
Im not a big seafood eater, but this place was fantastic. Every bite delicious, atmosphere was excellent, servers were friendly and helpful - all around wonderful experience. Highly recommend and definitely coming back!
Went for another evening of buck-a-shuck oysters. Of course it was delish (as usual) tried the King Saffron plate. Between 2 dozen oysters and sharing the saffron plate we were full!. of course the drinks were great & atmosphere was nice (minus the louder patrons-but quieted down when the food came for them ). it is pn the pricy side-but worth it as a date night treat yoself! the seafood was cooked perfectly
I ve lost count of how many times we ve been here and it has never disappointed. Food is fantastic, they have my favorite cocktail menu in the city, and the service always puts the experience over the top.
Friendly and attentive service, great atmosphere and excellent food.
Food is monotonous and tastes average. It s all about the flavor of the creamy mushroom sauce. Although the oysters are fresh, they are not made very carefully and can only be said to be average. . . . 24 oysters for two people, two plates of seafood, more than 260 for additional seafood.
Wanted tot try this restaurant out for awhile now. Food is decent and what you can expect from a seafood restaurant. Prawn cocktail was rubbery. The Mahi Mahi was sooo overcooked! (Gnocchi was good though) Service was so spotty!!!! Had to keep stopping the waitress for service. Had to ask for new plates in between courses but she was pleasant, friendly and had a nice attitude, so that was good.
Was in town for business and decided to check out Black Pearl Seafood Bar was greeted at the door by a friendly server cleaned off our table and got seated within just a few minutes. Service started well as we only waited for a short period and then the server came back to the table and said they were having some software issues or Wi-Fi issues and needed to confirm our order. No problem we were just relaxing and catching up from a long day. They got our meals to us and a timely manner. I had ordered the clams in a wine broth and a caesar salad I asked to come out before my meal. With the confusion in the kitchen with the ordering and the Wi-Fi they brought everything together. Again no issues things happen they delivered a nice full bowl of clams but did not provide a spoon nor did they provide bread. So I waited a little bit the server came back by and I mentioned Id like to have a spoon, she realized shed forgotten it and she has also forgotten the bread so she headed back to the kitchen I assumed she was going to come right out but was not the case. By now Id eaten through about half of my clams it would have been nice to dip the bread in the broth as for me thats one of the main reasons I get clams in broth. This was the more frustrating issue I had. I noticed that as I picked up the clams I was pulling out shell after shell with no clam inside the shell, again no big deal because I knew when I got to the bottom I was certainly going to find all these delicious clams just sitting there in the broth. To my dismay, I only found a few loose clamps at the bottom but I had at least 12 to 15 empty clams. The clams were absolutely delicious and the Caesar salad was crisp and cold, the bread was soft and delicious I just wished the server would have been a little more attentive with the spoon and bread and the fact that the clams were not just mainly leftover empty shells. Id like to give more stars the best I can do at this point is only four stars.
I had high expectations based on reviews. A bit disappointed. Had seafood pasta while the sauce was tasty overlooking my unopened clams and mussels(2 classic + 2 mussels)when you dont have that many in a dish was unacceptable The lobster Mac and cheese was ok, lobster slightly overcooked They hit a home run with the Atlantic Salmon while the accompaniments were Tried 4 signature cocktails which were ok Will try again as I want the oysters and seafood platter
We go to the Windermere location. It is bigger than downtown. Vibe is great! The fresh oyster and seafood platter is sooooo good. Ask for off menu drinks and food.
Unique place with great cocktails and food
Placed reservation at the downtown location for a birthday on Saturday the 4th. The place is a bar should have known better. Ordered a seafood platter with calamari: tasted like rubber bands, lobster was over cooked and cold, came back almost edible but not quite, crab cluster was a disaster. My friend and I will NEVER ENTER this seafood bar disaster again. Oh and no compensation on an over $ 200 Bill and 20%min. Tip DONT BELIEVE THE REVIEWS ITS A ZERO.
Do not eat here. Food is subpar, thawed in stagnate water, chances are food has been over cooked and not Worth the money. If you want to be lied to and talked to by a used car salesmen ask for Shaq. Lack of any common sense.
Good food here.
food came to our table lurk warm very bland sauce on calamari brussels sprouts were soggy and too sweet . service is very poor the server complained about stairs climbing up and down to serve us i would not recommend downtown location as the chefs did very poorly on my dishes. i dislike eating lurk warm food when you pay prime $ windermere location has better chefs thats my experience
It is expensive place to have date night but food were delicious and serving was pretty good too. Our server Megan was professional and excellent. I would recommend this place for sure.
My fiancé and I had the best experience here for our valentines dinner!! The food was AMAZING!! Our server was so sweet and friendly and took such good care of us! :)
Wonderful waitress. Great food and drink.
Great service and amazing food
Delicious
This is the second time that I came to this place... I liked the old menu much more then the current menu... it was nice choosing what you really want for samples... order a lb of this or a lb of that..... it was awesome..
Tony is a most excellent Drinkologist! The meal was 10 star and the atmosphere is fantastic!!
The realistic sea decorated ambience with a subdued lightning, resembling candle light creates a relaxed and transporting atmosphere. The place has an adventurous and collectionist vibe proper of a pirate, its simply fun just to be there. One can appreciate the amount of detail and care to create such timely scene yet theyve also managed to make it look modern. The place has a second floor for big reservations or special events, it gives them a lot of privacy. Our waiter Tony did an amazing job creating cocktails for us upon request (non alcoholic) and he made us have a wonderful dinner experience all throughout. He noticed we were checking out the decorations and took the time to share with us the place is actually decorated with real ship items and ornaments. He was so nice and patient with us. We had octopus, oysters, tea and crème brûlèe. They were beyond incredible and beautifully served. I would totally recommend. I hope Tony and the chefs are appreciated amongst the staff as they were amazing. Thank-you! Dietary restrictions: You can choose to remove certain ingredients/sauces from the menu dishes
Closing at 10 on a Friday night while a hockey game is on.... Why???
Way to over priced for the cafeteria style seating. The best is the most expensive thing in the menu that doesn t even have a price beside it. Don t waste your time, fresh seafood doesn t give you diariahh.
The service was good, ambience and atmosphere phonemenal. With the exception of the oysters, the food was nothing to write home about.
The food was amazing. Service was beyond excellent. They made it a memorable birthday.
Had a great experience. Started with the signature Caesar and the happy hour Buck a Shuck. Then a friend and I shared a cold tower, and we were both very happy and satisfied. Cozy and cool atmosphere, friendly servers. Will absolutely be coming back.
We took full advantage of the buck a shuck deal and ordered a dozen regular and a dozen premium. Very cool syringe dispensers for the dill pickle juice, Tabasco, and red wine vinegar. The upgraded oysters were only a little better - I wouldn t bother next time. I went for the seafood penne (amazing) and hubby had the seafood risotto (he loved it). Beautiful, beautiful seafood! The wines were ridiculously expensive so we opted for a beer. The dessert was a 10/10!! Great service - our only complaint at all was the music which was annoyingly uptempo and loud. (We are working musicians and have pretty diverse taste but whatever playlist was on was more suited to 20 year-olds when the average age of customers was closer to 45). A local gem!
I recently visited this oyster and seafood bar and had a mixed experience. While the atmosphere and service were great, I have to say that the oysters were only an 8 out of 10 in terms of freshness. However, the hot seafood platter was quite delicious, especially the king crab legs, which were excellent. And lets not forget the butter, which was absolutely fantastic. Overall, I would recommend this spot for its ambiance and tasty hot seafood dishes, but the oysters could use some improvement.
Shak is an amazing manager ! Seriously no words to describe him! Wesley helped us this evening ! He was Unreal ! What a asset to this company , beyond professional ! We LuV this place and the family feel!
My new favourite seafood bar! What a gem in the city. Great atmosphere, excellent service and exquisite dishes with beautiful presentation. Next time were trying one of the towers!
Absolutely delicious
The food was seafood. I enjoyed that! It hurt my tummy afterward though and the service could have been better! The lady was making me feel uncomfortable I wont be returning!
Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! The host was so kind and found a table for us, even though they were full. The Finding Nemo fish tank was great! The serving staff, especially our server is super fun and kind, amazing all around. The food! *Chefs kiss* like my niece said, 10000/10! Kid-friendliness: Our niece absolutely loved the food and our server was divine.
It was good food but the service was poor, I payied a 1000$ bill and had to pay 25$ for bringing a cake to share to celebrate a baptism and a birthday and they wouldn t bring the cake out took so long and when they brought it out late they wouldn t give plates and spoons or forks . The services was so slow and the people next to us were there first and stayed later and for our table they were rushing us out telling us we gotta go and they forgot drinks & didn t bring water out for everybody & after paying a cake fee they didn t want us to eat the cake there and kept the candle I got for cake wouldn t give it back. Very unsatisfied wouldn t recommend going there again.
The server was great and friendly. The food was great. I had a honey cashew sea food. Need to make a reservation, or you have to sit at the bar.
The Honey Nut Lobster, Prawns and Scallops & Alaskan King Crab were great! Would likely pass on the calamari next time.
Great restaurant, food was amazing and really liked the atmosphere. Definitely on the pricey side though.
I ve debated sharing a poor review because I used to really like this restaurant however the last few times I ve gone I ve noticed a decline in service, cleanliness (those fish tanks have gotten disgusting), and quality. Then last weekend I went with an old friend and we had a drink and oysters to start. They shoved us at a table under the stairs I bumped my head getting up from (it s really shoved in there with no overhead room, it didn t hurt just a bad seat). The oysters were the worst I ve ever had and I m pretty forgiving of seafood in Alberta. They never should have been served to anyone they were that bad (I just threw the last few in the bucket). I just got up and asked for my tab at the bar and we went elsewhere to eat. I was genuinely embarrassed Id recommended the place.
Incredible food!!!
First time visiting the downtown location. Service was great, but the decore was a little over the top, and the food was just a little less polished than the other location. I think well stick to the south side one from now on.
This place always offers amazing food and service. Cant beat the buck a shuck oysters everyday, do recommend making a reservation during that time though. Drinks are amazing also.
Good Brussels sprouts and oysters. Drinks were well made as well.
Stopped in for seafood because my partner had a craving, and we had a great time! Especially appreciated the offerings for non-alcoholic cocktails -- no plain ol Shirley Temples here: the bar clearly put as much effort into the mocktails as their boozy ones. The food was also amazing! I loved the lobster ravioli I got, so rich and flavourful. And the bruschetta starter was to die for! Will definitely be back in the future. Roheen (sp?) was our server and she was great.
The Resturant was full but we got a seat outside , not the most comfortable, but the food was exceptional
Popped in for a quick it of Oysters during a busy week. In for a conference the menu seemed so interesting I wanted to see the place. Dark woods and fascinating atmosphere, Black Pearl indeed! Really great service and as an Oyster fan I must say, expertly shucked and a unique offering of sides too. Can t wait to get deeper into that delicious menu upon next visit to town
Delicious
Came here for the first time last night and had a great time! Our bartender Donald was friendly and attentive despite it being VERY busy last night. 10/10 would recommend! :)
From the reviews and the website this place looks fancy, its not as fancy as 1 would think. That said, the food and drinks were AMAZING! Very fresh ingredients and worth the price tag
The food was amazing and the dj on the patio absolutely on point. I will be definitely coming back and the pineapple sause for the oysters was incredible. All in all it was a great experience
I loved it. I would definitely recommend it. The food and drinks were amazing. Service was spectacular!
Food was amazing from start to finish. We likely had the best waitress in the joint tonight. If you enjoy seafood then I guarantee youll love this place! Their drinks are good too! Food
Expensive (for me) Food cold! but nice presentation I felt good and excited when entering.Unfortunately it was the opposite when I left. Food : 2/5
Even the the appies are expensive! Wouldnt recommend if you have a big appetite, as the portions are small. Not great value... sorry! Food
Service was terrific, and so was the food. A gentleman, who I assume was the manager, came through with some amazing wine recommendations as well as some future recommendations. We did the buck a shuck, which was a lot of fun at a great value. Also tried the Calamari and the Lobster Flatbread. Not my first time visiting and certainly not my last.
Windermere location Not worth $100/person Maybe we were just there on an off night, because we had heard amazing things. Here was our experience, take it or leave it.. Very friendly staff, seated us quickly with our reservation. Specials were mentioned and drinks were ordered and delivered in a timely fashion. We ordered appetizers.. our appetizers were sent at different times, making us wait to enjoy ours, while theirs arrived ~5mins later.. which is odd. When we had ordered our entrees, the server said I ll take your order now, but not put it in so you are not rushed. Well, we were about half way through the appetizers when the main course arrived. They were also delivered at different times.. I ordered the jerk crab, and was warned it was messy. Fair warning. My disappointment came in the presentation. Crab legs on mashed potatoes. The crab shell was saturated and unable to crack. Leaving me to fight with slippery potatoe covered crab legs to break apart. Fine, I m picky, whatever.. The food was ok, the service was ok, and the atmosphere was ok. Not $100/plate ok.
The experience was amazing!
Food taste amazing, the sauce for the food are very good My favourite food in Edmonton Ambiance is low key Love the place
I had the Lobster and Prawn Flatbread the papa Joe s sauce very tasty and their dough crispy a perfect combination. Oyster bar is really good
Delicious drinks! Our bartender knows how to serve it up!
Its been a few years since I had been to The Black Pearl and decided to enjoy their buck a shuck oysters deal (5-7pm). The service was really great, informed and friendly. I cant speak much for the atmosphere inside as we had our pup with us and enjoyed the dog friendly patio instead. The oysters came with great accoutrements and the jumbo prawn cocktail had four very meaty prawns. Although pricey, it was a special treat and buck a shuck cant be beat! (Oysters were from PEI which made my maritime heart happy!) Drinks were also on the pricier side but the menu was great. Will return!
This is in my opinion the best seafood in the city . So tasty!!! Great service. Awesome atmosphere. Little pricey but you deffinalty get what you pay for . Highly recommend.
Pricey but worth it! We love buck a shuck!
This place was awesome! The food was great and the service was even better. Great way to spend an evening.
Most of our food was very good: Lobster Ravioli, Honey Nut Lobster, Prawns and Scallops. The Captain s Dream was not a dream. The sauce had too much cayenne pepper. I like spicy food; however the cayenne flavour/heat was overpowering. The service was good; however the server did not mention that the dish was spicy. Other menu items I indicated Spicy in the name. The music in the restaurant was too loud - hard to have a conversation.
This is one of my favourite restaurants and Fridays are the best days, because they sell the oyster for less than the market price - $1 each. The sweet and spicy flatbread was immaculate. My friend ordered the Pearl Pescatore, which was extremely delicious as well.
Best service, seafood, and drink evening place in the city center
My favourite restaurant ever.
Hands down the best seafood in Edmonton! Both locations are beautiful, gives me romantic pirate ship vibes Buck a shuck Oysters, to die for! Highly recommend mixing the tobasco with the red wine vinegarette. I had the Honey Nut Lobster, the flavors were perfect together and the seafood itself is so fresh, great quality and cooked perfectly. Also recommend the Spicy Jerk Snow Crab You wont be disappointed!
Amazing oyster specials and drinks. Best seafood in town.
I got food poisoning from the oysters yesterday, not a good time.
We were told we must visit the Black pearl so we did, most of the family found everything including the cocktail over spiced. We shared a Captains dream, it had noodles, crayfish, fish(One piece) one Brussel sprout, 4 calamari rings and 3 mussels, this is a meal for one I must add. There were 5 adults in our party, We all felt that for the money ($250) we did not get value, won,t be going back.
When its nice, do it twice. When here for a birthday dinner. The food was savory, tasty, fresh, and mhmm. Its a bit on the pricey side, but its well worth it if you are up for sea food.
I dined here with my family over the weekend. 4 adults, 2 toddlers, aged 1 & 2. Upon being seated we were advised that since we were a party of 6 there would be an automatic gratuity of 20%. I just found it hilarious that they would include 2 babies, but not even offer any highchairs to accommodate them. I actually had to request highchairs, and they only had one. Anyway, we ordered a dozen oysters, the hot seafood platter, and some bread. Overall the food was good, up until we ordered a second round of bread then noticed MOLD! I advised the server, and she was extremely apologetic. Of course it wasnt her fault, but a situation like that, you would expect the manager to atleast come forward, provide an explanation and offer some type of compensation, especially considering we consumed a batch of moldy bread. I cant imagine how much they served that evening to guests who were unfortunate to not notice. Thankfully we did not get sick, however we were offered 2 desserts on the house, which I dont think was sufficient due to the circumstances, but anyway if you choose to dine here, just make sure to carefully check your food.
It was really good food. It was about $60-70 each for an entree and a cocktail. The calamari, lobster, white fish, prawns, and oysters were all super delicious. It tasted fresh.
We found Black Pearl a little underwhelming compared to their reviews. Their mussel appetizer was good the Nutella cheesecake was good and their cocktail was delicious. However, the entree left a lot to be desired. We ordered the captains dream, a new item and I think they still might be working out some kinks. It has Penne(overcooked), red snapper(delicious), jumbo prawns(majorly over cooked), crawfish , squid , and mussels. We would like to try it again because some components were outstanding, but together in one dish was disappointing.
This place is fantastic
Amazing seafood! Great service as well!
This is our number one date night location in Edmonton. The seafood is always perfectly prepared. Great menu with lots of options. Love the daily buck a shuck special. Favourite restaurant in the city.
Delicious food, some of the best calamari I ve ever had. Had some of the king crab and that was great too.
Not your average seafood restaurant! By far, a hidden gem rooted in the deep SW of suburban Edmonton, this place is worth the drive. Extraordinary quality. Highly recommend.
Came for the oysters and they were of good quality! Wasnt busy when I was there. No complaints would come back.
Had a wonderful first time at black pearl last night! The oysters, ravioli and sashimi were great and just a lot of fun to eat. Tried the pumpkin spice latte, vanilla negroni and Caesar flight, every drink was delicious and unique. Megan our server and the manager dressed as the Grinch were the icing on the cake, so fun and helpful. Can t wait to go back!
It s great
Food was great loved the quaint charming atmosphere
This restaurant was nothing short of amazing! I came for the oysters & they delivered! Ended up getting 24 oysters paired with a beautiful salmon dish. Drinks & wine were great & service was amazing! 10/10 will be back.
Airways great service and exceptional food!
