Vons Steak House in Edmonton

We went on for dinner with friends, have not been for a few years, the new location is nice the food was not bad the steak was great and the lobster tail, the double baked potato was hard and not fantastic along with the vegetables. The service also was just okay. I would go back but will explore other options first the next nice meal out, that being said it was still a decent night out and reasonably priced.

Glad to see that the Von s of old is back! Food and service were amazing! Definitely worth the trek downtown for great prime rib and all the trimmings. Food : 5/5

I heard of Von s through word of mouth and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing, the ambience was great and the service BAR NONE. Susan was insanely knowledgeable and paired my meal with an amazing wine along service that left me feeling better than when I walked in. She s extremely personable and the right person to turn a one-off stop into a regular hangout. I ll be requesting her as my server every time I come to Von s (our new date night spot).

The food was excellent and staff were lovely. I took a star away because they didnt bring our appetizer out until our entrees were out, we really couldve used a little break between appy and entree to digest!

We visited for our anniversary and loved the Neptune dip and SurfnTurf. Susan, our server, suggested topping the steak with the leftover Neptune dip, and it deserves to be its own dish! 10/10

Was here for our work Christmas party now the last 2 years and they did an excellent job both times and the food is fantastic.

First time at Vons & it was fantastic. we were seated promptly & we did not have to wait for anything. Susan our server was so wonderful. She was friendly, knowledgeable & very attentive. Loves what she does. We all had a wonderful meal & a free desert for hubby s birthday.

Only issue was members of my group had to repeatedly ask for something before receiving. A couple of the dishes were missing items

Came here about a week for a birthday, overall great food and great customer service. The waiters took care of our table and made sure to disturb us every 5 mins. The only times I would really come back is for a special event like birthdays or anniversaries. The only reason I say that is because of the price on everything. The food again is exceptional but most of the time out of my budget.

Staff had bad attitude for no reason, Dined as a big group for an occasion, you d assume the establishment would appreciate the business, instead, the staff was not nice, unprofessional, and even rude. I personally find it rude to be called buddy , there should be etiquette when taking orders, would you like to order a main, buddy? Is not an appropriate way to ask for my order, not for a restaurant who respects their customers. Also, while everyone at the table had been approached and asked if they d like to order appetizers, I was skipped on, although I was patiently waiting and had eye contact with the server. If that s not enough, when ordering drinks the server gave such a bad attitude that multiple people took notice and have asked if there was something wrong, I still have not figured out what was the reason for the poor attitude. I would have not left a tip, which would only happen on the most extreme circumstances, although I did have an option as it was automatically included since we were a large party. Needless to say, I will never attend this place again, would not recommend anyone who respects themselves or their company to either. Moreover, I will go out of my way to make sure none of our gatherings will ever happen at this location again.

I ordered the seafood nest. It was missing the King crab meat, the mushrooms, the fried capers and the foccacia bread.

At the heart of downtown Edmonton, I had a chance to taste a delicious onion soup and New York steak with a flavorful sautéed mushroom gravy.

Vons On September 22, my husband and I took our daughter and boyfriend out for her birthday. We were seated in the dining room, the hostess checked my husbands jacket, and we were promptly greeted by our lovely server for the evening Mahasin. While we waited for our daughter to arrive, we ordered a few beverages and a dozen east coast oysters. Those oysters were as amazing as they were when I was in PEI, a few weeks earlier. The presentation was excellent, and the quality was supreme. Once our daughter arrived, Mahasin came and told us about the specials and took the kids drink order. We decided to share a few more appetizers, and this time, we did a dozen West Coast oysters, the mussels, and the mushroom Neptune. I personally found the mushroom Neptune a bit too rich for me, but the others enjoyed it. The mussels were absolutely amazing, and the West Coast oysters were big and plump. The table was a bit small for the three appetizers, but we managed. After lots of humming and hawing, we each ordered an entree. I chose the lobster risotto. The others had steak and lobster in some form. Exceptional food!! Wow! Beautifully cooked steaks, tender lobster, and perfect potatoes and vegetables. We even ended our meal with two slices of birthday cake in the most beautiful presentation that I have ever seen. From start to finish, this was an exceptional dining experience and worth every penny my husband spent. We will absolutely return.

Bill was $400, but the food was 100/10. I was literally still full until lunch the next day. (I usually eat a lot)

I went with a large group. We had most of the appetizers which were fantastic. I had the filet mignon, and it was flavored and cooked perfectly. The risotto was more liquid than Ive seen before but the taste was fabulous.

Very friendly staff, but they may confuse the orders when youre in a large group. Very delicious oyster and lobster, strongly recommended!

Our meals were like a steak dinner youd expect to get at an all-night pancake house, but at twice the price. The buns were dry, and most definitely warmed in the microwave. Ceasar salad was wilted and soggy, tasted like it came from a bag. The lemon wedges were dried up around the edges. The steak was seared on one side, but not on the other, rare on one end, medium-well on the other. Zucchini was deep fried in the oil that tempura is fried in. Mashed potatoes were lumpy, but, at the same time tasted like instant. The main meal was very salty. Our server was okay, but, not once, did he ask how the food was. He probably knew. The lava cake was good. Theres a reason this restaurant was empty before an Oilers game at Rogers.

Its not a place I would personally visit again. Lobster tail was dry, warming butter arrived cold and no assistance to light it. I requested my steak medium and was served medium rare, undercooked for my likings. The waiter leaned right over me by mere inches to put fresh pepper on my dates plate rather than go to their side of the table to do so, did not check on us much at all, our hostess did check on us much more and they were fabulous at their job. The wait staff need to improve their etiquette because its not befitting a steakhouse in any way, i could get better service at a fast food restaurant. Way overpriced for the quality of food and service. Will not return and will not recommend.

We went a few weeks ago and had to return the oysters, not even close to being fresh, we tried again yesterday and the same thing, you could smell the oysters had turned as soon as they were placed in the table. The steak was average, I dont think we will be back. For the price you would expect much better service and quality food. Its disappointing as the venue is quite nice

Food was decent. Service was quite slow even if they aren t busy, the employees were extremely welcoming and kind though.

Decent experience at this steakhouse. We got the tomahawk to share between 3 people, the portions felt small despite it being 48 oz, it came with 2 sides of veggies and mash potatoes but it felt a bit skimpy. For being $200 they couldve been way more generous with the sides at least. The desserts (creme brulee and chocolate lava cake) was pretty good! Our server was attentive and friendly which was a bonus to the experience. Overall i definitely had better and felt the value wasnt really there but it was still a decent meal!

My husband and I just went for dinner here, we had Mahasen as our server. She has such a cute, bubbly personality and we really enjoyed having her as our server. The food was immaculate but it was definitely Mahasen that made our night! She made us feel so welcomed and we even shared a couple laughs together. Vons is very lucky to have her! We will definitely be back!

I cannot rave enough about this restaurant because the server that took care of us is the most wonderful and sweetest person ever. When you are there please please please ask of Susan and make sure you visit on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She will make your experience mind blowing, relaxing, entertaining, extremely patient and above all funny. The food wasn t bad at all but at the end of the day no matter how good the food is if the servers are horrible you will hate the experience. My husband and I are definitely coming back here for Susan. Thank you Susan for making everything worthwhile. Vons steakhouse you are so so lucky to have Susan. She makes your business worth visiting. I hope you value her and treat her well.

I recently dined at Vons Steakhouse, and it was fantastic! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxing meal. The service was excellent. Our bartender Gilberto was friendly and so helpful guy. He suggested one special cocktail called honey jalapeño margarita tha it was so special and never tried before. The food was amazing. Each dish was delicious and beautifully presented. I especially loved the dessert Chocolate Lava Cake, which was perfectly cooked and full of delicious flavour. Highly recommended!

Very underwhelming experience. Espresso martini 1/5 - tasted mostly like kahlua with some chocolate nesquik syrup Cosmopolitan 1/5 - poorly made, no garnish. And entirely different than the second one I ordered (which was much better and very different for some reason) Our server mentioned they had a new bartender on... On a Friday night, while the oilers were playing game 6. Mussels - 3/5 nothing special Scallops - 3/5.. also nothing special Pressed salmon sushi - 3/5. Great flavour... but the sushi rice crumbled apart which made it difficult to eat and the presentation was sloppy. Steak - 2/5. Ordered it medium, it came out rare. Sent it back to cook it more and it came back black crusted and tough. Also seemed oddly smaller than expected Veggies - 1/5 coated in what seemed to be dried Italian herbs? Service - meh. It was slow, espcially for being 4pm in the afternoon. Our server chose to insult people at the gym.. while 2/3 of us have careers based in the fitness industry. Overall.... would not return or recommend.

This is where I celebrated my birthday. I am quite pleased that we tried Vons. Their steak was particularly delicious.

Came with my wife for a birthday dinner. Appetizers were very good (bone marrow crostini, mushroom risotto) and excellent service, unfortunately both of our steaks were very overcooked. Wife ordered filet medium rare, and I ordered a new York strip rare. Filet came out at least medium well and was sent back. Second attempt was undercooked but acceptable. My new York strip came out just under medium, which I didnt feel like sending back. The restaurant was not busy in the slightest. Its a nice spot, but to be honest, when youre paying $50-70 per steak, Id expect them to not be 2 or 3 stages overcooked.

Went to Von s new location for the first time. I had been to the old one many, many times before so there were very high expectations. Unfortunately, the new establishment never reached them. The old cozy, intimate dining experience is no longer. The feeling of just another box store restaurant has overtaken this place. The location is phenomenal, but they have definitely lost out on the trade. The oysters were rotten and we had to send them back. When we left and went to another establishment, we talked with other customers there and they said the same thing. Miss the old staff that worked at the Whyte location. I guess good things don t last forever.

I like the resturant there was a lady called susan she is a wonderfull waiter she is the best waiter in the world i love da vons its amazing Duke 9 years old.

Wow. Cant even remember the last time I had a dining experience as pleasant as this. Food was beyond all expectations. Meat was 100% perfection. Sides were to die for. Service is 10x what you hope you receive when you go out for a special meal. Drink refills were prompt without being intrusive and the whole experience was never rushed no matter how many times we werent ready to place our entree orders. This place is an absolute must. Prices were extremely fair and for the quality, they were probably under valued. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation.

Service and food were good. Bread before meal was cold and dry, and found this place a bit overpriced for what it was. Steak wasnt any better than other steak houses, but the chef did a good job with it.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a cozy, inviting ambiance. The decor was comfortable for both casual and special occasions. The menu was diverse. I opted for the salmon, which was cooked to perfection and served with a delicious, fresh side of seasonal vegetables. My companion had the steak, which was tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. One of the highlights of our meal was the dessert. The chocolate lava cake was heavenly, with a rich, gooey center that was pure indulgence. Our server Sanjay was attentive without being intrusive, and his recommendations were spot-on. Its clear that the staff here are passionate about providing a great dining experience. My family went to Vons with few family friends to celebrate Father s day. The restaurant was packed and buzzing with customers and of course we waited a little bit to be served. But the wait was all worth it! The best tomahawk we have ever tasted & also well presented by one of their staff Lance. The food were aboved my expectation. I will definitely be coming back !

I haven t been to Vons since they were in Old Strathcona. The food is still great and worthy of a special occasion dinner. Not everyone likes oysters but if you do you have to get the oysters on the half shell. They were fresh and you could taste the difference between the east coast and west coast varieties. The prime rib was tender and flavorable. The Yorkshire pudding that accompanied it was perfect- crisp on the outside and soft and airy on the inside. Thanks you Vons for the great meal and outstanding service.

We had our anniversary dinner (April 26) on a recommendation from family. Our server, Danielle, was very nice and cheery. I enjoyed her service. The food was okay. The appies were very good, carpaccio and west coast oysters. We ordered the $79 special Porterhouse for our main. We asked for med rare. It came out well done. The risotto was bland and the veggies and mash were disproportionate to the size of the steak. The two cocktails and the wine we had were very nice, I love a good Bellini. The space was nice and tidy, though nothing has really changed from when it was State & Main.

Susan was super friendly and lovely .. steak was Incredible, they re one of the only places I ve ever been able to get my steak Chicago style, which is quite chart on the outside, but still med rare on the inside! We were not a fan of the bisque or the Neptune way too salty, however, some people like that kind of thing so whatever cocktails and Susan s wine choice was awesome

We popped in last night without a reservation and asked to sit at the bar. We had an excellent time. The bar team was amazing, made great recommendations and made sure we were well taken care of. Everything was great, we loved the black magic oysters and the potato cheese puffs that came with the surf and turf.

Had a lovely date night here and it would be perfect place to go for special occasions. The menu had a variety of delicacies. It is pricey, but the food was delicious, and great service. Pictured here are the mussels, steak Oscar, and surf and turf.

Its been such a long time since I last went to Vons. But tonight, when I stepped into their new Jasper location, they really reminded me of why I used to love going there. My girlfriend had never been to Vons so I wanted to take her out on a special date night. She very much enjoyed the night and will likely come back with her friends. Alan, our server, was very much enjoyable to speak with and professional. Would definitely come back because of him and the food. Unfortunately the table adjacent to us wasn t really fond with their service. I will say this, this is not your typical franchise steakhouse. Be prepared to spend some $. The behavior exhibited by the guests was utterly appalling and reeked of a sense of entitlement because of THEIR mistake. I really have to disagree with the idea that the customer is always right. Its just not accurate in my opinion. In any situation, its crucial to consider multiple perspectives before passing judgment. I highly recommend giving Vons Steakhouse a try before making any conclusions. Parking: Paid surface lot on the south side of building. There is also street parking available during certain times. Near by parkades if you would like to park underground.

My husband and I came here for our 5yr anniversary and had an amazing time. Menu is steak and seafood based, had some west and east coast oysters, then had the Tomahawk steak (48oz) for our main meal, cooked by the chef at our table, wonderful experience and absolutely great service all around.

Summary: bad food (rotten and wilted) and poor service. Full details of my visit: Myself and a work colleague went for lunch on a Tuesday. We arrived at 11:45am, were greeted, and sat down at a regular table close to the bar. We ordered: crispy shrimp, bread & butter, 6oz filet mignon, and miso black cod. Our server was thorough in taking our order and when my colleague highlighted his sensitivity to garlic, the server acknowledged and repeated back to us that no garlic would be used in anything. The bread that arrived smelled like garlic bread, so we asked to have it taken away since my colleague couldnt eat it. The manager came by and insisted there was no garlic. We said that we could smell it and the manager looked at us with disbelief as he took it away. Eventually, the manager returned to our table with a new bread and butter, admitting his mistake and that the previous one did have garlic butter spread on top of it. The crispy shrimp starter is described as tempura fried and served on a bed of greens. I would suggest the menu be updated to remove the term tempura from it since the shrimp I received was deep fried, dark, and not flaky (the opposite of tempura, in my opinion). The bed of greens it came on was entirely wilted. At 12:45, I walked up to our server and asked that our meals be packed directly into take away boxes since we had a 1pm meeting. Immediately behind me, the bartender was carrying out our meals to the table and so I asked the server for containers still and conveyed that we needed to leave right away. The server brought a box each and apologized for the delay. I asked to get the bill while we began packing our food. When my colleague transferred the steak into his container, he noticed it smelled off. I smelled it as well and agreed it didnt smell right. He cut into the steak and we both smelled bad meat immediately. The server returned with our bill only to have to go back and remove the steak from the bill after my colleague told her that the steak was inedible, further recommending that she have the manager and kitchen smell the meat. As for the fish, I only ate a small portion of it at the office before tossing the rest, given that the likelihood of the fish being bad seemed reasonable at that point. While the food quality was not the servers fault, it was disappointing that at no point did she check in with us and let us know there would be a delay in getting our meals. I dont know if she communicated the no-garlic emphasis to the kitchen either since the first bread showed up with garlic butter on it. The managers interaction with us didnt improve our experience. Before leaving, the server did let us know that the manager was conducting an interview when we were leaving, so he couldnt see us personally. She also said that if we werent in a rush, she would have given us a gift card. Being that our office was nearby, Im sure I could have easily said I would return for it later that day, but there is no reason for either of us to return or recommend Vons. Parking: There is no dedicated parking spaces and the restaurant does not validate parking.

Great new location, food was amazing! highly recommend the oysters and steak here, looking forward to going back. The only negative comment I have was there seemed to be only 1 server when we went on Saturday (early dinner) and they seemed on the busier side. Still, all in all, very happy and looking forward to going back.

I celebrated my birthday at Von s Steak House in Edmonton yesterday, and it was an unforgettable experience! The wait staff was incredibly friendly, interactive, and impressively fast. The food exceeded all expectations; each dish was amazing. What really set this restaurant apart was the unique experience of having the chef cook the tomahawk steak right at our table. His professionalism was outstanding. I cant wait to return every time I visit Edmonton. Highly recommended! Parking: Parking is just on the right of the establishment. Easy access.

Updating my old review which was 5 starts of the old location to a 5 star review of the new location. Everything that was charming and exquisite of the 81ave location has transferred over to the Jasper Ave location. Rolled in there with out a reso on Friday night and it seemed fortunate we got a table with how busy it was. Is a little more communal than the old place but it still delivers a date night vibe. We were served by Sanjay and Susan and both did an amazing job. The food delivered exactly what I ve come to expect of Avon s: the best steak experience in the city. The ribeye I got was perfectly cooked to blue rare and the sides were top notch. One complaint would be the TV selection was sport heavy despite no one I noticed watching it. Small nitpick obviously, if half the TVs were switched to a nature channel or a fire log, it would have added to the atmosphere.

Went out tonight for a very nice dinner at Vons. Overall the food was good. We had oysters, the bone marrow crustini, table side tomahawk 4 2ppl and creme brulee. It all was hot fresh n delish. 2 small critiques: the washroom was kind of dirty and smelly and the waiter didnt explain the happy hour to us at all.. Cant wait to go back and try other items!

Vons is always a great place to go for quality. However, I just came back from New Orleans, and when I dove into the Oyster bar at Vons, the Oysters were so small, both East and West, that I was super disappointed. Like the poor Oysters didnt even have a chance at life....

I had a wonderful night here .The food was delicious and the staff and manager in this place were so great and very accommodating. It was a really fun night.You try coming here and have a great time with friends and family.You will definitely like and love this place. The drink we had was made by Gilberto Muchos gracias.

Waiting time 1 hour to get a steak, which smelled real bad and turned out to be from a spoiled meet apparently. Not even mentioning other small things (like no garlic on bread, but they pour it with garlic butter no ice please, but they still would put ice etc). And one more - what greets you at the entrance is a smell of a dirty mop. Very disappointing.

Good food. Disappointed the server didnt put everything in at once so we all ate at different times and had to leave our party there because we ran out of time to eat.

We go to Vons for special occasions and are always are super satisfied with the food and service. Tonight was the first time withthe kids and we were nervous. They really accommodated us and were very friendly. The food was FABULOUS and the waiter and management went above and beyond. They even brought us cake for my husband s birthday on the house! Thanks Vons, we can t wait to come back!

I went back and forth about whether I should do a review, but it wasn t sitting well with me so here it goes. We had a large party of 17, booked well in advance for birthday celebration, dining room was quite as it was late afternoon. We ordered over 12 appetizers plus full meals, I m fine with half of our group being served 15 minutes later then the first group, but my complaint is it was horribly smoky in the entire restaurant, we were told the vents in the kitchen were not working, and a door could not be propped open due to it being cold outside, but the smoke in the restaurant was horrendous . We were not comfortable, our eyes were burning, it was terrible. Some of us left right after dinner and did not stay for dessert, I was done with the smoke. I guess Im just disappointed in the lack of customer service, the sorry kitchen vents aren t working , no manager coming to say sorry about that folks , or hey we appreciate you sticking it out, you all good? Nothing. I don t even wanna know what my husband and his brothers paid for a party of 17 for their mother s Birthday. I don t know when or if we will be back, disappointed in the customer care.

2019 Von s off of Whyte is one of the few places in Edmonton that offers a decent oyster selection, so it s definitely worth checking out if you re into oysters. The prime rib here is also quite good. The way they do their steak, however, is not as appetizing for me as at other restaurants, so I d give them 7.8/10

We went out on Sunday at 5:30 with a party of 4 booked under my friends name Kelsey we were so disappointed in the oysters,the escargot was nothing to write home about and the mushroom dip was very disappointing to the point we sent it back,the womans bathroom was disgusting... we would not be returning. Our waitress though was absolutely beautiful and very understanding she was perfect.

Good Atmosphere, we had lunch here for 5 people. Vons Burger was tasty, although too oily. Missing the truffle aioli dip on the fries. 1 Set of Cutlery was missing when served and had to wait for a server to passby to get assisted. Desserts not on menu. No Fruit Shakes. Steak and Fillet Mignon is cooked as per request, although it may seem not moist enough. Sides are a bit dry. Good place and could use some improvements.

Our family went a few nights ago. Very delicious food, had a really nice variety of entrees.

The Caesar salad was terrible no dressing just a hunk of wilted lettuce with nothing on it and stale crostini with nothing on it as well. Oysters are good steak was extremely rare not medium or medium rare, veggies were cold the potatoe bites were the only good thing from the whole meal. I wouldn t spend the money to eat here again there are way better steakhouses out there. It s unfortunate as we were looking forward to it being good!

First time at the downtown location. Ordered lobster risotto. Was not expecting it to come with a lobster tail! Was delicious and filling.

Decor and layout a bit strange for a high end steakhouse especially the divider betwee the dining room and the bar area. Food was great and very tasty. But I would go to Ruths Chris instead.

Vons is far by the best steak house and oysters I tried in Alberta. We had cheese bread, Oscars, oysters, carpaccio, steak salad, scallops, crab, and seafood pasta. All so tasty and carefully prepared. We received warm hospitality from chef Lionel. Even my children enjoyed their Mac n cheese. We will definitely come back. Thanks to their talented chef and amazing servers!!!

It was my first time at Von s, my boyfriend had visited their old location several times and really enjoyed their extensive array of meticulously curated oyster varieties. The oyster menu has changed. Now they only offer East and West Coast Oysters whereas before they offered oysters from specific Bays in the east/west coast. So we were a bit disappointed. The truffle mac and cheese was very buttery, and okay. Nothing memorable. The steak was disappointing and very very salty, probably the saltiest steak I ve ever had. The snow crab legs were delicious, but I guess it s hard to mess that up. Our alcohol cocktails tasted good, but I m pretty sure there was no alcohol in them. Still delicious though. The service was impeccable and definitely made our visit satisfying. Probably would not come here again as the food was mediocre.

We tried Vons downtown for the first time Jan 16th and had an amazing dinner. The goat cheese filet was omg delicious. My spouse liked the oysters so much he ordered more. Cocktails were excellent. There are still a few kinks being worked out but the staff worked really hard to do their best and often inquired if we needed anything else. I recommend supporting this restaurant and giving them a try.

We had our staff Christmas party here. The service from the server was excellent. She was helpful with our selections, efficient and funny. Food was great and the service was timed perfectly. Will definitely go again. Parking: Its downtown so parking is always a bit of an issue.

The oysters and wagyu is an absolute must! I wasnt happy with the Neptune. Sanjay went above and beyond for me. He took it off my bill surprised me with a creme brule. His professionalism made my date night with my fiance a wonderful experience. We will be coming back for the prime rib.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of dining at Vons where I was thoroughly impressed with the dining experience. From the moment we sat down, our server Supreet greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel so welcome. Supreet was attentive, knowledgeable and went above and beyond in service. Not only was the food delicious but the exceptional service and professionalism made the experience so memorable. I will definitely be returning for the top notch-food and service!

Came here for my friends birthday dinner. I believe the man who helped my friend with her reservation was the manager and he was very kind and helpful, he gave us a private room for free as a birthday gift! The steak is worth every penny, the gravy is flavourful and the lobster tails are smoked and seasoned to perfection!! The staff was so kind and attentive. The peach bellini is a must try! Overall I had the best experience and I can t wait to bring my partner here for date night.

Birthday dinner was great

The room is pretty dated, but the service was decent. Oysters were fishy and steak was over cooked. The other appetizers and side dishes were all great though.

I have to say this place is super underrated. The prices are very reasonable compared to other comparable steakhouses and service is phenomenal. I m a huge steak guy and prefer cooking my own steaks, and the steak at Vons was very well done. The sear on my steak was next level (I head requested Chicago rattle) and cooked to medium rare to perfection. I talked to the head server about how impressed I was and they use a super powerful broiler with cast iron grates. This is classic method. Highly recommend.

We had the best server when we came in for a birthday supper (we came for the oysters!). She was terrific, from a small town in Northern Alberta a few hours from where I grew up. She had a great sense of humour and answered all of our questions. Being Celiac, I had no reaction eating here. We enjoyed ourselves very much and will be back!

Very attentive manager, Terrin greeted me and within a minute had me sorted, and a drink on the way while he advised the bar tender to watch over me, and assured me hed escort my expected friend to my side when she arrived. Stellar service! I felt like I was royalty! I was in a bit of a rush, but got to sample an oyster from the oyster bar, and as an apy: bacon wrapped muscles. Absolutely heavenly! I highly recommend Vons; you wont be disappointed.

Vons has good food, and the service is always good too. But imo you can get just as good of steaks for a far lower price at some other steak chains. You are definitely paying for the location and atmosphere at Vons

Took my mom for her birthday, they brought out a delicious complimentary dessert! We had the steak plate which was perfect and the lamb special melted in your mouth. Oysters were good as well, wouldn t recommend the calamari but they had many delicious sounding appetizers. We both had leftovers the portion sizes were great! Good wine special on Friday s.

Mothers Day Brunch: Hot food trays were cold. Burners were not on. Prime rib was under cooked, cold and tough. Expected more than self serve i.e. coffee and tea (hot water was tepid). Shocked that a high end restaurant would resort to serving Costco cookies/Danish. Service was mediocre, however; the bar tender was very helpful.

The service was quite good. The staff were very nice. The main problem was that two of the four steaks that we ordered came overcooked. One of them was ordered medium rare and came well done. One was ordered medium and came well done. They remedied the problem and brought out new steaks, properly cooked, in a few minutes, but it detracts from the experience. A restaurant that calls itself a steakhouse should bet it right on the first try. No discounts or comps were offered. The wine was excellent and reasonably priced.

Vons never fails, I was told they are moving to Jasper Ave. That will be a good move business wise.. Whyte ave location will always be in my heart.

My wife and I enjoyed our first meal here from first course to dessert. The steak was perfectly cooked, the chocolate cake was devilishly good, but the presentation was not up to par with the restaurants price point. The chairs and table showed signs of wear and the building felt very dated. There was a musty smell thats typical of old buildings, but it wasnt strong enough to turn us away. Our server was attentive and friendly. The manager did a round of checking in with us and the other diners and seemed genuinely curious about our experience. We appreciated this. I heard Vons is moving to a new location downtown. Hopefully they can refresh their food presentation and furniture to match the quality of their ingredients and flavor.

Nice restaurant and good food. Our server was very nice. I had a burger and I enjoyed it. The guy next to me had something better so I starting munching on his.

We had our 1st anniversary dinner here and we couldnt be happier with the experience. The wifes surf and turf was done perfectly, and my ribeye was exceptional. Our waiter Diego did such an exceptional job, and was nice to the manager also walking the rounds to the tables too. Only thing I could suggest is better signage on the building as it was a bit confusing on where the location actually was as Google maps has the location on a different side of the building, but being a new location I can see this remedied soon

Review is for the new downtown location. Only had beer and appies this time but very impressed by the nice location, excellent service, and great food. Had a chat with the owner who says hes working on getting the website back up and running, then hopefully will have the full range of daily deals that the old location would have. Only one that wont be coming back is buck-a-shuck as the retail prices have gone up a lot. For now, happy hour from 4.30 to 6.30 has 30% off oysters and draft beer. Friday has reduced glasses of wine and Saturday has half off house wine - nothing in writing but according to the server. Finally, only negative was that the music was terrible pop remixes. Not too loud in the lounge though.

Don t go if they are ever packed. Me and my date were the only table in there and waited 18 minutes before I went up to ask about our drinks at that point they decided to make them. It was at that moment I decided to go down the street to Ruth s Chris. The manager offered me a free drink I wondered if it was because I am aboriginal and he figured that would make me stay. I declined because I can easily afford my drinks. He then proceeded to follow me to the door asking if I got any food and if there was a bill. Again I m assuming it was because I m aboriginal and figured I was running out on a bill. We had a delicious meal at Ruth s Chris and outstanding service. I was pleased to pay the 300$ bill and a 50$ tip. They gave us free dessert to take home almost like we were friends after our meal. I couldn t imagine the service if there was more than just the one table. I definitely do not recommend vons. The side walk outside also had human excrement on it. Raining

A favourite for years and a mainstay in Edmonton. The Caesar is one of the best I ve had and the service is consistently superb. Many happy memories at the off Whyte location and looking forward to making more at the newly opened downtown locale!

The new Jasper Ave location is lovely and a superb upgrade from the much older location in Old Strathcona. We were greeted warmly and service was absolutely excellent from Diego. Drinks were delicious and the Oysters shucked with perfection And our meals were incredible. I got the salmon and hubby got the Oscar, both presented beautifully and tasted amazing! You know it s going to be good when the fresh bread they bring out to start was so good and it was just bread!!! When the server came to ask how we were doing mid-meal, hubby responded, F* k. That was incredible! Super quiet on a Wednesday night (late), but we sure hope they are around for a long time. The food, service and atmosphere is something we 100% would return for. Menu prices were reasonable for the quality of the food and service received. Looking forward to returning with friends and family. Also, thank you for the sweet Birthday dessert after dinner. Parking: Parking is just behind the building in case you re worried about it. Or just a short walk along Jasper Ave.

Went for our anniversary tonight. Booked on Open Table & didnt realize they are at new location, our bad! Definitely miss the nostalgia of the Whyte Ave location, but, were greeted with same level of dining experience! Parking isnt great to no fault of restaurant. Go a bit early to check out cheaper alternatives than the church next door. We had oysters, escargot and seafood platter for 2. Platter is not on menu anymore but chef was so accommodating. Thank-you Food was fresh and flavorful! So enjoyed eating at a local, independent restaurant like Vons. Its been a classic Edmonton fine dining establishment for decades. Special thanks to Sanjay as well as the manager for excellent service.

Went to this steakhouse because it was close to our hotel on Jasper Ave, first time we went and it was absolutely amazing! Service was great, the server was awesome and very happy to answer any questions we had, management was also great, attentive conversations all around. And the food was so delicious, a little on the expensive side but the quality was very good definitely recommend the Creole Chicken! Overall 10/10 loved the atmosphere and food. This was my first visit to Vons. Very nice place, once we found it (not the best signage for the place!) Friendly service and wonderful atmosphere. I recommend the Bone Marrow Crustini as an app! Pricey, but it was good experience.

Been at this new location a few times and I always get the most exceptional service from the staff; being greeted with a beautiful smile by the hostess Trisha and being cared for by the server Diego! The food is absolutely delicious and the drinks were amazing. the vibe of the restaurant is very sleek and welcoming:)

I made a last minute reservation for my sister s birthday, and I could not be more happy with my experience! The food and service were excellent! (Everyone in my party agreed) :) we will be coming back to Von s

We booked a reservation for 6, we got there on time and we re seated right away. 30 mins later, we asked the hostess if we had a server, as no one had come to see us yet or offer us any waters. The manger and server finally came, and started us out with drinks and took our food order. 3 of 5 appis arrived, and we waited for the others, long enough that we had to ask again to see if they were coming. The appis did all taste great. Now it comes to the main course. Out of the table, 2 were missing their correct sides, and 1 steak was way undercooked. We asked for the correct sides to be added, they never did come. We had to ask for our bill, which also took a long time. I understand mistakes happen, and I don t expect everything to be perfect, however when I m spending 100+ dollars a person for a meal, I expect decent service and good food. Sadly i wouldn t recommend this restaurant.

We visited the new location last night before a concert. The service was lovely, friendly and prompt. The food, as always, was just so damn good. Filet mignon with goat cheese and veg and the seafood pasta. We also had the oyster shots, which were fun and more delicious than I would ever have expected. Lastly the honey jalapeno margarita is dynamite. A perfect drink.

I want to eat steak for lunch! Thats what I thought when I came to the store. I was happy that all the staff were very kind to me, even though I was alone and could not speak English. The steak and beer were both delicious and we had a very happy and enjoyable time.

Drove an hour to enjoy Saturday evening, but they were about to get closed. Update the working hours so that customers don t get confused. We are not happy

Slow service at the wood. Ordered two cocktails was supplied with a bill for four cocktails. I thought it was a spot of human error. They tried to contest and said I was served all 4. Took convincing from multiple people to absolve me of trying to under pay. At the end of the day the cocktails I ordered were good but the overall experience of being accused of stealing drinks really soured my experience. I really hope this was a one off, and I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. But being made to feel like a thief really didnt sit right with me.

We spend a birthday dinner night at this place and it was amazing, we came with a very picky eater and her wishes were fulfilled to the most. Diego was our server and I think he was the reason why our experience was so good.

From ambience to service to food and drink quality and presentation, this is definitely a must for a romantic date night, milestone celebration or just for some great food and a nice night out. We came here for a family members birthday and they accommodated our large group, didnt miss a beat on service despite our party size of 20+. Great place, great location, parking behind the building. Highly recommend!

The steak was well cooked. It seemed like it was smaller than what it should have been. The service was only okay. They were not very attentive with refilling water or drinks. We usually had to flag them down to order another drink or top up water.

What an experience! Nice restaurant. I must come one more time before the end of the year.
