Classic Thai fare including curries, pad thai & rice dishes with draft beer in casual digs.
The best Thai food I’ve had in some time; Pad Thai, Wonton Soup and Tom-Yum Ga Tee were delicious and cooked to perfection. Bright, friendly atmosphere and plenty of parking. Highly recommend and cannot wait to return and try some other menu items.
My favorite Thai food restaurant in Edmonton. So much flavour and fresh! Every time we dine in or take out it’s phenomenal. Portion sizes are pretty decent as well. However I do have to say that the portion are noticeably smaller since the new owners took over. But still well worth the trip!
My wife and I used to frequent Boualouang when we lived in Edmonton for school. It was our first time back in quite a few years. The food brought back happy memories; Tasted as good as I remember. We got a couple of our favorite dishes, yellow coconut curry with chicken and potatoes with coconut rice, and the drunken noodles. Both were delicious, service was excellent, very friendly staff. Thanks so much for the trip down memory lane!
If you’re looking for good Thai food, this is the spot to be. The duck dish was my favourite and it was even good as leftovers the next day. All of the food was very good here. The service was friendly considering we took quite long to order and had lots of food to take back home. It wasn’t very busy when we went in for lunch around 1pm. I’d definitely recommend this place and go back.
This place, used to be the spot for lunch and it still is but with the new ownership - we found the servings aren't as generous anymore unlike before.. the flavors might have changed just a tiny bit as well but it's noticeable. I get that with taking over an existing business you want your ROI as soon as possible but how this place was shouldn't be changed as people like value and nostalgia and though some of the dishes are still there, it's hard to pinpoint what's missing.. Regardless still a great restaurant to go to. Can't go wrong. One of the few spots left that can satisfy your taste buds.
staff: friendly server. Helpful with recommendations. service: we beat the rush - so our service was quick. establishment: small gem in the heart of Edmonton’s China town. Family run. food: so flavourful. Great portions - shareable! Love the green papaya salad and pad Thai!
Very traditional and authentic Thai food. We ordered Tom Yum soup, Pad Thai with beef and shrimps, curry chicken with rice. They were all very good. The waitress was friendly and nice, she was the only server, seemed busy but attentive. We waited about 30 mins for our food, but the taste of every meal totally worth the wait. The service and the food is a 5 stars ! The missing one star is because of the restaurant’s environment. The bathroom, the floor and the chairs were not so clean. We had seen a few flies flying around, I also have pictures of the flies, but maybe not a good idea to post here. Hope they could improve the cleanness of the restaurant, it would be so much better for the dinning experience.
This is my favourite restaurant that serves Thai food and it has been a staple in Edmonton’s Chinatown for many years. The pad Thai here is the best I’ve ever had and their curry is also consistently good with a nice kick. The fried fish is definitely one of my favourites as it is crispy with the right amount sweetness from the sauce and the insides are cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend!
So delicious, good size portions, good price, love this food! Dietary restrictions: Celiac friendly! Food : 5/5 |
10/10
It was my first time in Boualouang, we had pad thai with beef, tom yum with shrimp, and avocado rolls I liked every dish, great service, and super attentive staff.
I ordered the pineapple fried rice the flavours was mid but the rice was soooo mushy I almost vomited. I love Thai food but this one did not hit like I m used to
Best Thai food in Canada - not just Edmonton!
I ordered from skip, it was quite delicious! Thanks!
The best Thai food I ever had!!
Great food
The food is so good My favourite restaurant
ive been here for 5 times and the food is still very good. Amazing staff too
Everything from there was top notch
Food was delicious and service was great.
One of my favorites
Excellent food. Restaurant was clean and service was good. Huge portion sizes, if you don t want leftovers consider splitting a meal.
Wonderful Thai food
Best food I ve ever had. I literally come here like two times a week the
UPDATED REVIEW: I have ordered lunch from here 6 times now in the last 2 months and their consistency is top notch. Their individual lunch combos are of incredible value. Their red curry is SOO good. Just as amazing as their green curry is. Their spring rolls are delicious as well and it seems that the money bags I had on my first visit were unusually unfilled as every single time I have ordered delivery from them since, they have been filled and have more cream cheese in them. Their coconut rice is absolutely top notch, too. I absolutely love the food at this restaurant (though I am still wary to try their pad thai again as I really didnt like it the one time I ordered it). Even though their pad thai was bland, I would still give this restaurant 5 stars as everything else is always incredibly tasty. They also ALWAYS listen to the delivery order notes and have superb customer service in that regard. Honestly, they are now my favourite Thai restaurant in town (downtown) and even surpass Viphalay. I 100% would recommend anyone to visit this restaurant as they not only have excellent consistency and incredible flavour, but superb customer relations skills as well. It is rare to find a China Town restaurant with such attentiveness to order requests. I love this restaurant. Do not hesitate to visit it! It is a GEM and I crave it every single week. INITIAL REVIEW: I dont know if they were having a bad day or something, but the pad thai here is, in my opinion, one of the worst Ive had in-town. It was very bland, dry, and lacking in umami and that hint of sweetness one expects of pad thai. Having been around Thailand, I can say that their green curry is exquisite, though. It has a mild spice and is beautifully made (I personally order it with beef). We ordered the money bags when we dined in and while they were very tasty, do not expect them to be filled with cream cheese. They have a hint of it in the mix, but it is not a dominant flavour like how they usually are at other restaurants Ive been to. Both my friend and I were surprised by this. Naturally, their vietnamese iced coffee was also delicious.
Food is good
Great ambiance. Friendly staff and good tasting food.
Family Favorite is Drunken noodles with shrimp and chicken. Plain eaters favorite is the Pad Tou #2 with chicken. The best coconut rice Food : 5/5
Their foods are not the same. Its must be new owner. Their papaya salad (thai salad) is very sweet. Very sad
Food is okay, but not nearly as good as it used to be. Syphay is better quality. The main issue with Boualouang is their inability to manage the restaurant. You should expect long waits to be seated, even when it s not busy. Ordering take out? If you want to pick it up at 6pm, you should order it for 5pm. I ve waited for over 40 minutes after confirmed pick up time for my order. There are way better Thai restaurants in Edmonton.
Quality is improved
My favorite restaurant
Best Thai food around
Food was tasty but it couldve been a little more spicy. Im not falang, I can handle the heat.
Its not the most beautiful area of the city but the food was good and its rare that restaurants are open on a Monday.
Great place to have authentic food
We dined here last night. Wonderful little restaurant. Reservations recommended as they re a smaller restaurant and can get busy during dinner time. Our favourite was the pad Thai and the red curry. Good sized portions. We ordered too much food and ended up having to take it home. So happy for delicious leftovers this morning! Servers and owner very friendly.
I love the Tom yum! So good! Food is so good here! Worth a try!
Food was delicious and the service was excellent. We dined in but we saw many people coming in to pick up takeout orders.
We have been eating at this wonderful Thai restaurant for many years. The best Thai food we have ever eaten! And so imagine our dismay when we discovered a few months ago that it had closed down! But, happily its back in business under new management who have brilliantly taken lessons from the previous owners. Tonight we tasted their ambrosial and delightful food once again and it was a flavour memory from heaven! Well be back, and frequently!! M. Brooks
I have been coming to this place for a long time. The food is great. But recently it seems like the shrimp avocado spring roll has gone up in price. For 3 avocado shrimp spring roll is $15 , which is very expensive already. But today when I order this dish, the shrimp is not a whole shrimp, it s shrimp paste, Umm.. which is .. not cool for the amount that I pay.
Excellent food, great portions. Been going for over 20 years. Highly recommend if you like a great dining experience.
Delicious food and great prices. Highly recommend.
Been going here throughout the years and is one of the few places that manage to remain consistently good throughout the years. Amazing Calamari, Curries and Pad thai. Can tell they use quality ingredients based on the freshness of their meats. 5/5 easily here.
If you enjoy flavourful food this is the spot, great food great price
incredible
My 2nd time here. I came back because the food was excellent the 1st time. However, this experience was so bad. I called at 4:30 for pickup and was told it would be ready at 5:30. Upon arrival the only thing that was ready were 2 appetizers. I ended up waiting until 6:30. I checked my order before the server packed it and 2 of the dishes were wrong. Then an argument ensued where I was told I had ordered red curry. I ordered Matsuman, etc. Finally, the server realized she was wrong and had to go back to the kitchen and re-order, thus more waiting. By the time I got the Massaman curry, everything else was ice cold. And then when we started eating, not only was everything cold, all of it was disgusting. Overcooked/ mushy, bland, oily and 1 order was still wrong. Plus, I paid extra for 2 coconut rice and got 2 steamed rice. Fried eggs mysteriously appeared on the #18 Pad-ka-pow; shrimp stir fry. What a fiasco. Doubt I will be returning. My observations while waiting were that the restaurant is lacking proper management, the kitchen is understaffed, the existing staff/ servers/ etc, are not trained, thus there is extremely poor efficiency. Please see food photos: 1: Im not sure what this was supposed to be? It was overcooked shrimp & chicken floating in oil. 2: steamed rice. 3: Menu item #9: Yum; glass noodle salad with shrimp (it had no onions or shrimp or dressing, or peanut sauce dressing that is supposed to come with it) 4: oily spring rolls. 5: menu item #18; Pad Ka Pow. Overcooked, mushy and bland. 6: Matsuman Curry (this was good). This cost me $100, plus I left a 20% tip. Very disappointing!
Every dish is made to order by hand, incredible food with amazing prices. Our table had the Green Curry, Green Onion Cake, Baja fish, Pad Thai with shrip and Wonton Soup - every dish was amazing! We will definitely be back.
Their soup was very good. Great service as well. Healthy portions as we had tons of left over
It was busy before an Oilers game but they were very fast!
Not sure how this place got such good reviews. Went there on a Saturday night. Took almost 30 minutes to get seated and my order in (There were empty tables, so it wasnt full house). Waited another 30 minutes didnt even get a cup of water. Got up and left.
Boualouang has become the number 1 destination for the best Thai food in Edmonton, easily. Years ago it was the King and I, But for now and the foreseeable future head down to Boualouang for wonderful curries, pads and others fantastic dishes.
Very delicious .
Friendly service, amazing food. Great sized portions and the best Thai food in Edmonton. Papaya salad was my favourite.
What a great guy and atmosphere. recognized me as soon as a came in and gives police a discount. Not to mention best pad tai and drunken noodle I have ever had. Portions are enough for three meals but you will want to eat it all in one sitting. Fantastic! Highly recommend.
The best chicken pad thai in the city that I have had.
The food is excellent - however, of all the times I try to eat here, they are open, or answer their phone, about 50% of the time at best. It s honestly frustrating trying to eat here. Feels like they randomly pick and choose their hours every week on a whim.
I had a great experience eating here. The green curry with the coconut rice was amazing and the gold bags were yummy yummy. Huge thank you to our server Carmen! She was extremely helpful and caring towards me and I will definitely be coming back.
My first Thai food experience was here at their previously smaller location in Chinatown over ten years ago. This location is much larger and beautifully decorated. It was great to see Boualuong still in business after the pandemic where many others have not reopen. They are a mom and pop shop who quietly work diligently over the years dishing out some amazing food. Tonight, our group of friends had the privilege to enjoy another great spicy Tom yum soup, original Pad thai without ketchup, delicious green curry and a mango salad. The food was amazing and the portions were generous. They were understaff with only one server but she and the owner were able to service our large group, plus two other large tables with a smile, grace and pride you would find in any South East Asian home. When you walk around chinatown, you know the struggle these restaurant owners are going through. By me choosing to eat at this terrific restaurant despite what is going on in this neighborhood, that should tell you how much I enjoy the experience of eating here. It is a gem for those who recognize this hole in the wall and it was busy as usual here at Boualuong.
We international Playaz!! This joint is fire!!
Excellent food and service for a decent price! Both myself and my companion really enjoyed our dishes (green curry with chicken, fish entree respectively) and portions were generous.
Excellent
Awesome cozy place, with tasty food. Super large portion as well :)
I cannot state how fantastic the food is, the Pad Thai is a creation crafted by an artist. Food is meant to be enjoyed, savored, almost sacred as it dances across ones palate, every dish weve ordered has been enjoyed to the last bite, best Thai food weve had and weve tried many places in Edmonton.
Fantastic food. Huge portions. Nothing to complain about. This place is a must try.
The older gentleman did not provide us with what we ordered. I showed him what we wanted on the menu and he said yes then brings out the dish with lots of vegetables; not what I ordered at all. I asked if he could fix the mistake and he began to argue that it was what I ordered. He was clearly agitated when I asked him to get me another order of what I had asked for and 15 min later he brought back the same food bowl he had brought in the first time but with a lil bit of what I asked for. I was becoming angry but my date was clearly telling me that it wasnt worth the fight, I agreed and continued with our food. Then our second course comes out, I have never tasted anything hotter then this meal served to me last night.I have eaten here many times and have ordered the same dishes every time but this time the gentleman was very angry and had put so much chili on my food I could not eat it. My date had the same food but her food had the regular amount of spice. The dish given to me was so awful I had to throw it out. Wont ever return to this restaurant and will share my story if I here another person thinks this might be a good place to eat.
Best Thai restaurant in Edmonton!
We ordered take out and it was excellent! One of the best Pad Thai dishes in Edmonton in my opinion. Red curry was spicy and yummy. Inferno Papaya salad was off the charts spicy! Fun to try but would tame it down if we ordered again and we love spice. Found the prices more than fair for the amount of food and the quality of food. Thank you
One of the best Pad Thai in town
The food is out of this world incredible here.
Best pad thai ever.
Delicious food, amazing service
Great little restaurant - I had the chicken phanaeng with extra spice. Great flavour and huge portion - easily feed two people. The owners a fantastic people and super friendly and brought out some mango and purple sticky rice for us to try for desert. Soooo good - highly recommend.
Always go here for the tom yum
Best Thai restaurant in edmonton going to this place for years now, I have been to Thailand Many times and this place is something close to what I have experienced
This place has the best Thai food in the city! The red curry with coconut rice was delicious, Pad Thai was so good, chicken fried rice was amazing. You have to try this place!!!
Our meal was superb. The mango salad was way beyond anything I could have imagined. So good!
Hands-down the best Thai food Ive had in Canada. We had the Green Curry & Pork Pad Thai. Both Delicious.
I visit this restaurant often! The food is always tasty and hot! Authentic and delicious!
The Green curry coconut dish was exceptional!! So yummy! One of my favourite places!!
Best Thai food Ive had in Edmonton! Ive traveled through Thailand years ago and since then have always tried to find the closest thing to the food I ate there in whichever city Ive lived in. Very happy to report Boualouang makes that food. Had Green curry and Penang curry (both with Tofu), and both were excellent. A bit too spicy for my partner but perfect for me. They dont seem to explicitly mention they offer vegetarian/vegan options on their menu (at least what I could find on the Google maps photos of their menu), but they had no issue making both dishes vegetarian for us! Will certainly be back (and soon!). Oh, and I forgot to mention their portion sizes are fantastic (and their prices include rice with the curries). One order of green curry is easily enough for dinner + lunch the next day.
Truly the best Thai restaurant in the city! I can see people get overly sensitive about their random hours and so called bad service, but thats just straight up entitlement, and youre getting the best and most authentic Thai food in the city. If you want consistent hours and great service, feel free to hit up your local Thai Express.
Delicious, better than the food i had in Thailand. Ive been coming here since 2004, i have never been disappointed. I always get the yum, beef pad Thai, green curry with fish, chicken paneang, tom yum and those super delicious avocado/ shrimp spring rolls. All are 10/10 dishes. We are so lucky to have this in Edmonton !
Wonderful tasting food
No Air conditioner heat blasting to 37 degrees in the middle of July. Dirty table clothes and glasses. Menu displaying items they no longer make. Terrible!
If there is better Thai food in Edmonton I don t think my taste buds would handle it! Family run and tastes like it. You may have to wait a bit for the food but each bowl comes out piping hot and super fresh. The portion sizes are more than enough.
Really great service and fantastic food.
Food is still pretty decent but that place needs a revamp something fierce. Temperature was unsupportably high, furniture is way past its replacement due date. They only had one wine on the entire menu (a riesling for $30). Service was decent and friendly. Mango and prawn salad was great. Two main dishes also good value.
If I could give this place 10 stars I would, the service, the food. Out of this world. Laos and this food with so much flavor. I cant think of a more delicious restaurant
Been there so many times but never though about leaving a review. But I think I should recognize their love of food and their care of customer service. Food is always always top notch, they don t fo sloppy jobs even they are busy, their food quality remains the same. They care about everyone that walks in! I love their curry and fried fish with mango sauce soo soooo much!! Portion is super generous too! You can tell their food is fresh and they are picky about the raw material. One time I wanted the mango sticky Rice but they didn t have it, the owner told me that they couldn t get mangos from Thailand and they did not want to compensate the quality of mango by using something that tastes different. I really appreciate how they uphold their quality and reputation!
Delicious and good quality foods, nice servers, recommended!!!
A great place for pad Thai and Chang beer is bae. Having something that originates and takes me back to Thailand.
It is such a good restaurant.
The food from here is so ridiculously tasty you will overfill your stomach, its so hard to put your fork down!! The portions are VERY generous and its all made and managed by the most amazing couple. My favorites are the Pad Thai with chicken and the green curry chicken with coconut rice but Im pretty sure every dish is just as amazing. I cant even say enough about this place!!
Excellent experience and food
Best Thai/Laos food I have tried in Edmonton by far. Green Curry, Pad Thai and Avocado-Shrimp Spring Rolls are my favorite. Other dishes are amazing as well.
Best Thai food in Edmonton, their green curry dishes are highly recommended. And service was great.
This is my go to Thai restaurant in Edmonton. Im celiac and they easily accommodate gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, whatever you may need! The food is consistently fantastic and prepared by the owners. Its a great family based restaurant. Come for the food. You wont be disappointed.
Unbelievable.. Great test
Hands down one of the best Thai food restaurants in Edmonton, everything is flavorful and well marinaded. Tom Yum soup is really amazing..
Their food is top notch specially the deep fried fish with mangoes and chilli
Best Thai in Edmonton hands down. I love the family that owns it and have never been disappointed driving all the way down town for this. SO GOOD.
A true homestyle Mom & Pop restaurant with Boualouang (the chef extraordinare) creating authentic, flavourful dishes in the kitchen while her hubby waits on tables with efficiency and warmth. I love dining at Boualouang every time I visit Edmonton as the dishes are always freshly prepped, lovingly created and served in a way that feels like Im in a true Thai kitchen. Be prepared to enjoy an authentic and very spicy meal, should you request for it!
I came in all most closing time but they still take us..I d recommend the Laos style somtum, it s spicy but very delicious, it makes you feel like you in Thai or Lao when you taste it. Besides that, curry and padthai also good and in a big bowl, 2 people cant finish.
Definitely a hidden gem . Great portion sizes
This evening my husband and I went to Boulouang for dinner. The restaurant was not available for in house dining so we chose take out. Once again, I was not disappointed in the food I have ordered over the years from a lovely husband and wife team who have worked very hard in this industry. We have eaten Thai food in many different restaurants both in Canada, USA and Mexico and without a doubt this is my favourite place to go. Thank you and hats off to this amazing family for sharing their gift with us and all who choose to attend their restaurant.
The yum was yum
Wow, what an outstanding lunch! I had the panang curry (red curry with peanuts) and my friend had the pad thai. Both meals were absolutely delicious, with generous portions. I chose chicken breast for my curry protein, and it was perfect! Juicy, no fat! Lots of veggies in the curry too. And the price includes rice, which is a huge bonus. The only part that made me sad was that it wasnt that busy. Edmonton - this place is amazing - you have to go! Support local yummy businesses!
One of my favorite restaurants in the city, ive been going for years since they first opened and were just a tiny restaurant! Their food is amazing.
AMAZING FOOD. Best Thai place ever.
Best thaï I had in edmonton yet. Professional staff straight to the point. Good portions for a fair price. We re very happy we stumbled upon this place. Definitely will become one of my go tos
The food and service here are top notch, it is simply the best Thai restaurant in Edmonton...I order take out and dine here at least 3-4 times per month; the food is delicious- their Thai green curry and Pad Thai are to die for. I have tried 5 other Thai restaurants in the city and they just do not compare!
Food & service is excellent. Atmosphere is sumptuous!
Never been before and will definitely go back.
We had an amazing time tonight !! A group of 8 enjoyed the BEST Thai / Laos meal ever. Food was Fresh and ever so Flavourful. The Drunken Noodles with Chicken and the Penang Chicken were the top 2 dishes. Mind you, the Tom Yum soup was awesome!! Look forward to coming back ! Thanks to the staff for taking such great care of our group.
Fantastic meal and great company last night at Boualouang. This is hands down, one of the best Thai / Laos Cuisine restaurants in Edmonton. The Drunken Noodles with Chicken, Penang Chicken, and Tom-Yum chicken soup were definitely our favorites. Lastly, the service was top notch, with the family owners taking great care of us. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a great dining experience.
The food was fantastic, and the service was quick. If youre planning to come here for lunch, get there EARLY!!
Food is amazing. Reminded me of the extremely tasty food I had right in Thailand on koh Chang Island.
The food was amazing! My family can tend to be picky eaters but their mouths were shut when they were eating here, so many great dishes! Will visit again!
Great atmosphere and food.
For anyone wondering, Boualouang is still open regular hours but only for take out during this time. Please if you are feeling any symptoms or have travelled recently to stay home.
Great pad thai and thai curries, spring rolls are also delicious. Highly recommend.
Best Thai food in Edmonton! Must try Mango salad!
Boualouang > every other Thai/Laos restaurant here. I said what I said.
Fantastic food!! The Pad Thai and Green Curry were simply excellent!!
Green curry and green mango salad are my absolute favourites but everything is amazing!
A magical gem of a restaurant. Authentic Thai cooking that is beautiful and flavourful. May be the best Pad Thai we ve ever had. The curry and soup is a must.
Many items on the menu are unavailable due to COVID staff shortage which is understandable. We ended up ordering a papaya salad and Tom yum soup pho for lunch which were tasty but with an obvious decrease in quality compared to before COVID. However, the owner was very grumpy and rude to us saying that we did not know how to eat and we will ruin our stomachs. On top of that, the general quality and manner of service is completely unacceptable. We had driven from Vancouver, BC to relive some good memories and were deeply taken aback from the lack of hospitality. We quickly lost our appetites and left having to take out most of our food due to the bad vibes. Paid the tip but reminded the owner to be kind to customers especially during these tough times for everyone.
We had dined here on September 4 and I have never been so disrespected at a restaurant my whole life. We drove all the way to Edmonton as we heard this was a gem within Chinatown. The moment we arrived, we were met by a grumpy-looking waiter who must have been the owner. He almost threw the menu at the table. We had asked for several things on the menu but kept getting told the items were not available. No big deal, we knew this was the case due to the pandemic. We ended up ordering a tom yum soup and a thai salad. We could not think of anything else to eat as 1, we had eaten breakfast and 2, a lot of the things we wanted were not available. When the grumpy man came back to ask if we wanted to order more, we said no, and he went on to say that we didnt know how to eat as we were only ordering soup and salad and that we were going to ruin or stomach. First of all, its ok to show concern if you think that we would actually ruin our stomach but to say it so rudely as if we were such an inconvenience to the restaurant is appalling. I understand the restaurant is going through hardships and short staffing due to the pandemic but this is not the right way to lure your customers back in. My advice to the grumpy man, if you are the owner, do not talk to your customers. You do not know customer service at all, you will end up ruining your entire business. If youre not the owner, please dont work there. You do not belong in the hospitality industry. Lastly, the food was mediocre. Ill leave it at that.
Food is great and the service is exceptional!! Highly recommended!
Best Thai food Ive ever had
My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for years. It is our absolute favourite simply due to the quality and portions of food. The red curry, green curry, and pad thai are must haves. Get the coconut rice as well! The reviews who describe the owner as grumpy are wrong. They need to keep in mind that this is a family owned restaurant with very limited staff even at busy times. While true that he does not bother with the niceties that you see in a chain restaurant such as small talk, he always provides the best service. Your drink glass will never be empty, he checks in often, and if your food is delayed he brings complimentary appetizers without question. Every time I have guests from out of town, I recommend this place. Truly a gem.
October 2020 THE BEST THAI/LAOTIAN CUISINE!!! One of the best asian restaurants in Edmonton! Highly recommended. Ordered a curry dish named Gaeng-Kiew-Vahn - a green curry and coconut milk with mushrooms, zucchini and sweet basil served with steamed rice and I chose the seafood. Tom yum seafood soup is so delicious Spring rolls taste good
We ve been coming to Boualouang for years when it was just a hole in the wall near Lucky 97. Our kids absolutely love the drunken noodles and Tom yum pho(chicken). The food is always consistently wonderful. Last night we also got the pad Thai which was equally delicious. The ingredients are fresh and vibrant and the meat tender and fresh. As far as the previous comments go in regards to the owner, we ve always received prompt excellent service. Sure he doesn t ask us how everything is but there really is no need to when you eat here because it s always excellent.
Definitely not what it used to be. Incredibly slow service. The quality of food has gone down hill. Half the menu is out. I would not recommend at all.
I come here with my dad sometimes, it is one of his favourite places and becoming one of mine too! The food is fantastic! No wait at all during lunch hours. Always extra to take home for dinner! Highly recommended!
As a first time patron, I was quite satisfied with the food, it was very flavourful, not over salted or spicy. Usually done that way to cover bland food, but definitely not here. Coconut rice was very fragrant and fluffy, I really enjoyed their fish cake. One thing to mention, Im not sure if it was intentional or not but it was really warm inside. Almost too warm, the day I went was fairly sunny, but could not have been over 15°c. I was sweating quite a bit, now if you consider it is a Thai restaurant, I think that could play well into creating an authentic atmosphere. I just couldnt imagine how it would be in mid summer. Dont let that discourage you, well worth the visit, looking forward to try other items on their menu.
Everything here is super delicious.
Amazing taste and quality. The best food in Edmonton. Thank you Boualouang!!!
Was a bit hesitant walking in to see an almost empty restaurant on a Saturday afternoon...but my husband and I were blown away. The dishes were huge and very tasty. The flavors were perfect. Service was great. Atmosphere was typical, nothing fancy.
Good service, great food
Stopped by here late one Friday. Place was pretty busy which is usually a good sign. Great selection of appys and their vegetarian/vegan options were also plenty ! really enjoyed my time here
Awesome thai food, great service and a good price
So good, a hidden gem. Nicest staff and the food tastes better than food in Thailand
The quality is as good as ever, but it seems like nearly half the menu is no longer available, including, most tragically, no yaw-dip salad rolls? Sadly I dont think Boualouang is going to be around too much longer. But they have been a proud and worthy institution in Edmonton for a long time. Ill miss them when they go, but its clear too that they cant do everything that they used to. Anyway the food is always great, that southern thai+laotian flavors coming together beautiful in bite after bite.
Great Thai food, one of our favorite stops, all of the currys are fantastic!
Awesome place for food. Maybe some of the best pad thai in the city! But service is somewhat slow relative to other places. If you have time, its definitely worth the wait
Best Lao and Thai food in town.
Delicious and plentiful THAI restaurant. Watch out for your taste buds. Exceptional flavors like in Thailand.
We have gone twice, the first time it took them a long time to serve us and the second time they didnt even serve us because the waiter told us that the kitchen was packed and after a long time waiting and not even taking note of the drinks we left. Very bad manners.
Good food
always delicious best Thai Restaurant in.
Portion sizes are reasonable. Price is right. The menu has a nice variety of things to choose from. I prefer dining family style and sharing all the dishes. Service is good. You can usually get a table, but it is a small restaurant. When it is busy, you may have to wait.
Excellent food!
Food was tasty and good service.
Amazing food!!
All I sat is wow! Excellent food and excellent service. The pad Thai highly recommended
The owner/manager is extremely rude.we have been coming to this restaurant for last 8-10yrs .it used to be one of our favorite Thai restaurant in town however we have seen the decline in food and service quality in last couple of years. I could only see the management /owners rude behavior towards his customers and employees as the reason for this.Too bad we wont be coming here anymore.
Best Pad Thai in the city by far! Great portion sizes for sharing or leftovers depending on your appetite.
The best Pad Thai and TomYum soup in the city.
Great atmosphere. Amazing staff to accommodate our large party table. Food is absolutely tasty especially the appetizers. Very uniquely made and it feels homemade! Definitely would come back here again next time I travel to Edmonton.
Best Thai food in town!!
Awesome authentic thai and also food
Good food fast service
First time here and food just super tasty
Favourite Thai restaurant in Edmonton. Highly recommend the drunken noodles. Small atmosphere. But also great to call ahead and pick-up.
My most favourite Thai restaurant in town. They have the best Tomyum soup and papaya salad.
Best Thai food I have ever had. Try the red curry!
The food is unreal there but unfortunately the owners have no idea how to run a buisness. Was once turned away from making an order to go.
Good
