The Tudor Pass is an intimate, gastronomic restaurant with only seven tables, open Wednesday - Saturday for both lunch & dinner. The reimagining of an icon, The Tudor Pass is a new chapter in the storied history of this special restaurant, named so to celebrate the unique interactive service style diners can expect – without the noise of an open kitchen - and led by Executive Head Chef, Alex Payne. Alex’s signature tasting menu, which is available at both lunch & dinner is inspired by classic flavours and seasonal ingredients, harmonised by modern techniques.
An impeccable meal. The whole experience is truly unique the flavours textures are incredible creating one of the most harmonious culinary experiences I’ve ever had the pleasure of. Each course is explained by one of the team Congratulations to Chef Alex and his team , their creativity shines through on every plate that came out.
Outstanding culinary experience Absolutely mind blowing from start to finish. The creativity and flare in this modern British menu paired with beautiful presentation makes the whole meal exciting and interesting. The friendly service is nice and the wine pairs nicely to the food. The venue and dining room is beautiful. Highly recommend and we will be returning
Have been here many times and it never disappoints. Yes if you compare to a pub meal it expensive but not for a Michelin star. If you are looking for something a little decadent or for a special occasion I would highly recommend it. Whether it’s for a 4 or 7 course lunch or a dinner the food it so beautifully prepared, you may feel as I used to that the portions are small so you will be left feeling hungry but this is far from the case as with several courses and the richness of the food it’s actually very filling and this is coming from someone who trust can eat! The taste of each dish and balance of flavours and texture contrasts are all carefully thought out and compliment each other. My personal favourites are the current scallop dish, the beetroot dish and as someone who is very particular about deserts the blackberry dessert was phenomenal and I’ve been to many different fine dining experiences including some 3 stars. It was a delight! The staff are so friendly and helpful I’m sometimes come on my own just because why not and if they have time they are happy to chat but are also very professional and on the ball with timings and drink top ups, can’t fault them. The general feel of the restaurant is warm and cosy with an intimate feel but doesn’t feel stiff or uncomfortable as some fine dine establishments do. Perfect for any occasion whether for intimate diners for two or family get together me, business lunches, anniversary or even as decadent lunch for one and a good book. If you’ve ever thought of trying a Michelin star dining experience and felt nervous or put off because you won’t fit in or feel comfortable then rest assured this is the perfect place to try that will put all those doubts to rest.
From the moment that I arrived at The Tudor Pass the service was nothing short of exceptional. Chris greeted me at the door and made every effort throughout my visit to ensure that I had a memorable experience. Alex and rest of the team of chefs crafted some of the finest dishes that I have ever tasted. One of the most impressive aspects of the dining experience was the fact that Alex and the rest of the chefs hand delivered each dish, talking me through each of the elements and the often personal inspiration behind the dish. The pride with which Alex and the whole team present the cuisine and curate this very memorable experience is truly inspiring. Rosie the sommelier expertly complimented each dish with excellent wines and her terrific knowledge. I would highly recommend visiting The Tudor Pass and I am so grateful to have been so well looked after by this exceptional team!
I strongly recommend the 7 course tasting menu perfectly created by Alex and his team. The experience was very intimate with only 7 other tables, you are not given the menu before hand which I loved because it meant you could enjoy the food without an pre-conceived notions on whether you would like it. The chefs come out with every course and they provide a little story as to where the ingredients are sourced from. The presentation was beautiful and the food matched! The waiting staff were also very attentive and lovely. We also had the wine pairing and the smellier was great in describing the wine flavours and how they paired with the food we were about to eat.
Seven course tasting menu by Exec chef Alex Payne. The best food served in a stunning setting.
We just had the taster menu at Tudor Pass. The food ranged from exquisite to good. They brought a medley of dishes one after the other. We never saw the menu but a chef came out to describe each one in exquisite detail. The start and end of our meals were real high points.
A unique and exceptional experience from start to finish. My partner and I came here for a birthday lunch in April. We had the 4 course tasting menu but it felt more like a 10 course tasting menu as there were so many extra snacks including a bread course. The food was absolutely exquisite. We were blown away by the creativity, flavours and presentation. Standout dishes were the beetroot starter with horseradish sorbet and the turbot fish course with morel mushrooms and red prawns. The service was fantastic from start to finish. The chefs also serve each dish to the table and give a description of each dish as it is presented. Great Fosters is in beautiful surroundings and the restaurant itself is small, cosy and with a very chilled and sophisticated ambience. But without feeling to stuffy or formal. The wine and cocktail selection is also great. For a Michelin star restaurant, we also thought the tasting menu at £80 per head was great value for everything we had. Highly recommend. Thank you to the Tudor Pass team for a fantastic experience and exceptional food.
Truly a Michelin star restaurant. One of the best Ive been to. A 10/10 experience all around. Hats off to Alex Payne and his team.
My wife took me there as a birthday treat. It was food theater, and a gastronomic delight. I will definitely go again, but give it a bit of time so that the menu wont be the same. Allow 4 hours if you go for the seven course tasting option, but the time passed quickly. I only mentioned the time because I had booked a cab and hadnt realized how long it would take to enjoy the full experience.
A gastronomic delight. Unbelievable food and service a total joy to be there. Thank you again Alex and the wonderful team. I would highly recommend and will be back soon.
Love the place! Everything was great, the staff was kind and accommodating. This is so good when a waiter is also a professional cameraman. Thank you )
Exceptional food and perfect service!
Outstanding all around. Great food, great wine wine. Bosh.
What a date night we had in this place! Exquisite food, stunning dining room and fabulous wines.
The best restaurant I have ever been to. The team of wonderful people both in the kitchen and the restaurant make for an unforgettable dining experience. Every single dish is exceptional - creative, delicious, rich in texture and flavour, and uses local ingredients. What a treat! Thank you to Alex & the entire Team for a truly excellent meal.
Birthday celebration dinner for a friend. We all had the set menus. The presentation, quality of the food to where the ingredients came from and so much more. Lovely evening spent with great food & lovely company
Very enjoyable evening with very nice food in lovely dining room. You can see some of the Blumenthal heritage in the young master chefs menu and presentation. Will definitely go back.
Delicious, unexpected and personal! Most surprising and inventive, yet absolutely delicious menu I have ever tried. Loved the attention from the chef, bringing and explaining each dish, it felt personal and helped to better connect with the food and get inspired by his inspiration and endless creativity. Immaculate service and setting, but the wine list needs a little bit more work, others absolute perfection! (by miles better than the Fat Duck I personally find)
An interesting experience, but pricey.
One of the best meals weve ever had, attention to detail in the food as well as the service was immaculate. The actual dining area was extremely private and this made the atmosphere fantastic. Every course was consistently brilliant with Alex and the chefs coming to explain the ideas behind each part of the dish. Waiting staff were also knowledgeable and attentive. Attended for a 5 year anniversary and they catered for our religious/dietary requirements. Cant wait to return!
We ordered several starters, the empanadas mushrooms, chicken wings and battered poached eggs. Second T Bones. All acceptable but not impressive.
Fantastic place in the every sense.. you feel going back in time! The staff are very welcoming and professional.. Sara and Pierre made our afternoon very special making us feel like a queen The sandwich will be repeated once, but the tea is unlimited ! I suggest you to get tea changed after your first cup because the flowers and levees soaking for longer can make it bitter after a while. I loved they even offered a beautiful box to bring home what we couldnt finish ! God bless you... Jesus is the Saviour now and forever ! Talk to Him and read the bible before its too late ! Vegetarian options: When you book make sure you specify your diet, what you can or not eat do they will put down for the chef to follow. Dietary restrictions: Please specify your restriction when you book, so the chef will accommodate the meal for you Parking: This hotel has huge surrounding land, a dedicated space for parking, a fantastic maze garden, little river and more. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, at the entrance, but I dont know much about it
I cannot even find words to describe this food. It was unique, delicate, delicious, well balanced. Expensive, but very much worth the money. Its not a restaurant, its an experience, a one-off. I could post all the pictures, but you need the surprise!
Just heard Alex Payne has received a Michelin Star and well deserved it is. My daughter surprised me with a lunch in the Tudor Pass for my 60 th recently, I have to say the food was excellent, each course was explained of its hidden flavours. Presentation and service was excellent, after the meal Alex came out and asked how and what we thought of the menu I replied you should have a Michelin Star for the food in the menu. Good luck and congratulations Alex and the team . I would highly recommend booking a table just for the experience of the fabulous food and service .
Staff very friendly and attentive. Menu is a 7 course set taster . Food was very tasty as was the wine pairing
Beautiful 7 course set lunch meal, reasonably priced with great food and service from Chris, Alex and the team. Will be returning! Very much deserving of their Michelin star. Flavours, textures and presentation all amazing. Thanks!
Theatrical fine dining at its best wow! We had the most fantastic lunch here yesterday for mum and dads special birthdays. From beginning to end we were made to feel special and well looked after. We were running late because the M25 was being the M25. No problem. We let them know and they were waiting for us when we arrived. We were seated in the most beautiful small dining room with just 7 tables. Intimate but luxurious and very comfortable. We went for the 4 course tasting menu which was actually 12 courses . The surprise snacks were an absolute delight alongside a glass of English sparkling wine. The sharing bread was yummy with 2 spreads - beef dripping and a butter with delicious drizzle. Then 4 incredible courses. We had a Sancerre with the fish course recommended by Chris, our excellent host and then Australian Shiraz with the beef, also recommended. Both were perfectly paired. Each course was served by a different chef and each was presented beautifully with an explanation and often an accompanying story card. The meal finished with surprise petit fours and I opted for a cup of Earl grey. The rest of the family had a coffee. We then went for a wander around the magnificent grounds in the sunshine. We couldn t have asked for a more perfect afternoon. The whole experience was exquisite and completely beyond expectation. Suffice to say, mum and dad loved their birthday treat. Thank you to the amazing team at the Tudor Pass. We hope to see you again soon .
I have had the privilege of dining in a few Michelin* restaurants and The Tudor Pass exceeded my expectations. 2 of our party had specific dietry requirement - we received a phone call from the restaurant to discuss, and their menu was amended accordingly with special treats/courses being served. The service was warm and attentive, and as a special touch the chefs actually presented the food they had prepared, giving an explanation of each dish. The quality was superb, the presentaion amazing. We were left quite wowed about our experience. It is an expensive restaurant but when you have a special experience like this, it was worth it.
Wife got sick during the meal and I sat for 45 minutes before they told me the meal was over and handed me a menu and a bill. No vegan or vegetarian options available
One of the best fine dining experiences Ive had in the UK. Innovative, intricate, imaginative. Simply exceptional.
Came here last week with my wife for my birthday. We live locally & had actually been to Alexs previous chefs table at Crockers in Henley (which we thoroughly enjoyed) so were excited to see what he had done here at The Tudor Pass. We were not disappointed. Firstly the location is stunning - Great Fosters is beautiful, and the room that The Tudor Pass is set is in wonderful. Only small (7 or so tables) but with a lovely ambience in a grand looking space. The staff were fantastic - couldnt fault at all, they really were brilliant & so friendly. So the tasting menu is a surprise in the sense you dont see the menu until the end of your meal. I wont give anything away or post photos to spoil, but every single course was amazing - a real top tier tasting menu. The chefs take turns in coming out & explaining each course to you which is a nice touch. 10/10 cannot recommend enough for anybody who enjoys their food. Not too badly priced either for this caliber of tasting menu.
It was an extremely good experience. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. They clearly put a lot of effort and enthusiasm into the food.
Everything was truly perfect, the team behind all of this is extraordinary. The service is unreal and the food is amazing. One thing though, most cutleries smell like fish, which ruins the taste of other non-fish dishes. Either use different cutleries or wash them separately/repeatedly. It totally ruined my desert which is sad. Hence my four star.
Food was exceptional. Every course left us wanting more. Service was excellent and all the staff were friendly and made us feel welcomed. Every dish was introduced in details and that enhanced the whole dining experience. We hope to be back again!
Great place for dinner
Very good restaurant
An experience of Tudor splendour and atmosphere not to be missed. The gift of a birthday afternoon tea was relished and the walk around the stylish gardens was the icing on the cake!
A fabulous setting for afternoon tea. The staff could not have been more helpful from the moment Joe greets you at the door. Very allergy aware and I was given lovely alternatives. The only reason for 4* for food was that an extra savoury option instead of the pastries would have been perfect
My husband and I and another couple wanted to end our vacation with a high note so we decided to dine at The Tudor Pass. We have been to other Michelin star restaurants and had high expectations and The Tudor Pass exceeded our expectations and we can honestly say it was an experience we will never forget. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant we were greeted with warmth and sophistication. The Tudor Pass interior was elegant and impeccably designed. The staff at The Tudor Pass was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive and ensured our needs were met throughout our meal service. The dishes that were presented to us throughout the evening were nothing short of culinary masterpieces. It does not do it justice to say each plate was an exquisite work of art. Chef Alex carefully curated and beautifully presented each plate. The flavors were bold and unexpected. I am a vegetarian and the plates that were designed around my preference were amazing. My husband (who is not a vegetarian) was blown away by the scallops -- he described them as cooked to perfection with a delicate caramelization that melted in his mouth. He s had a lot of scallops in his life and was surprised that scallops could taste so much differently than he s ever experienced before. The wine pairing was also excellent and it was amazing how each one complimented and elevated each dish. The desserts were extraordinary indescribable -- you have to experience them firsthand. It is hard to truly describe our dining experience at The Tudor Pass but it was an extraordinary journey that transcends the boundaries of traditional dining. It was an adventure that awakened our senses and left us with a memory of a lifetime. We highly recommend this experience for anyone who is seeking an extraordinary gastronomic experience that goes way above and beyond any traditional dining.
Awful. Fur coat, no knickers. Avoid.
Such an amazing experience. The staff is brilliant and the food is just perfect
Better than average. Overall it is tasty apart from the first tuna starter have fishy aftertaste. It is not very experimental and not very memorable either though. I would give 4 stars if I booked a normal table. However I booked chef s table, which charges £30 more per person. Thought it would be a dining experience with chef cooking in front of you and introduce each dish to you. However it s just a separate room with the same dishes but charges much more. The atmosphere in the main restaurant is much better. The chef s table room is where they store the wines. Although it s a separate room, you have no privacy with the door open and different waiters keep coming in to get wines for other customers. Also, I would say the food presentation can be better. There s some details aren t right.
The lunch tasting menu was just exceptional! And the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Really enjoyed the experience!
Amazing food, friendly services and very relaxing. Beautiful setting too.
Amazing place!
Relaxed and elegant dining. Lunch menu excellent
Beautiful venue for a superb lunch. A clever menu with twists and delights. This was chefs craft at its best. Perfect cooking of in season ingredients. Subtle flavours with everything beautifully presented; each course is explained by a chef and the service is excellent.
Fantastic food and service will be going back again soon
If this were a poker game Parkin delivers fives aces. Totally superb. Flawless food creations served by friendly FOH in a stunning location. Some interesting flavours a real bonus and ... just visit here. Soon! Thanks Team Tudor Room!
Really enjoyed the entire menu, would highly recommend to all foodies
Take the sommeliers advice: youll thank me, if you do.
Parking: Loads of it
Good characterful venue and very enjoyable food. Service was also good.
We went for an wedding events open day.
A thoroughly enjoyable and top class meal at the Tudor Room. Alex Payne the new Executive Chef greeted us warmly and gave a personal explanation of his first couple of dishes on the taster menu. He brought out an appetiser his team created and it was fantastic. His brigade then came out with each of the remaining dishes of the 7 courses and explained what it was. They were all so tasty and cleverly presented. Certainly a memorable meal. The wine flight was lovely but a bit extravagant- well it was my birthday after all! Will definitely be back again.
Food exceptional. Great service. Enjoyable table side chef experience.
A very pleasant place for the whole family to have lunch in the fresh air. Attentive staff, offered blankets. Lunch menu. A good and balanced choice. For an appetizer we chose salmon with herbs and capers, as well as chicken pate. For main - sirlion steak and fish. We couldnt resist dessert: lemon cake and Pavlova cake.
Fantastic venue with great food. Having been here multiple times on a several occasions, I was never left disappointed.
Fabulous, starting from location and finish with great waitstaff service! Food is outstanding, beautifully served for your eyes to prepare your taste buds at first! Beautiful view of the precisely carved park . Only if there was more running water noise to cover the noise of the motorway...
Beautiful setting for afternoon tea.
Superb 5
My reservation was at 2pm. I was trying to call Tudor Room since 14:05 to say I was running 15 minutes late. When they finally picked up the phone at 14:15 (being very precise) and I was few steps from the place, I learned the chef had left. That s the way they treat their customers. I m very used to fine dining, but this is the first time ever a restaurant refuses to serve us for being 15 minutes late. There are so many Michelin starred restaurants in the U.K., therefore I would never recommend anyone to try this place. By having no choice, my husband and I are currently having afternoon tea at the hotel.
Simply amazing
May be. A living room full of wine.
Dont expect the evening to be cheap, but the dining experience and food are exceptional. Went for my wifes birthday and it was well worth it. Service, food and dining room were the best Ive ever experienced. Highly recommend doing at least once. Youll be hard pushed to find a better dining experience
Amazing experience !
Great food Great service
Lovely afternoon tea and the staff were both accomodating and relaxed. It was so easy to lose hours having a gentle Sunday. Really recommended
My 2nd 5 star report on this place. Previous comments still apply. Totally recommend this hotel and for me a local, the restaurants.
Incredible food, lovely staff, fantastic evening. Great way to spend out wedding anniversary. Will certainly be back soon!
Wonderful memorable lunch. Very accommodating kind staff. A lovely experience. Would highly recommend.
Gorgeous food in a beautiful setting, excellent service too
Excellent and outstanding
Absolutely fantastic meal, bursting with flavour. Every course was a delight. My family and I have been to a number of top restaurants in the area and this one outdid the rest.
My husband and I had a lovely evening yesterday. The service and food was excellent! Will definitely be back!
Afternoon tea was plentiful and delicious and the service on point. Thank you.
This place never fails to deliver. Delicious food, exceptional service and every room of this manor house has its own magical charm!! Steve and his colleagues always make us feel welcomed.
Exquisite No need to go into London for fine dining now.
Wonderful settings. Sandwiches were nice - bread was a little hard on some parts. On entrance, one of the waiters (blonde short hair) was very rude. My partner left the front door open and the waiter said you could shut the door. Then later as I went back to the room from the restroom, the same waiter was moaning to the reception staff saying this is ridiculous, it makes no sense. Not a very good atmosphere.
Theres nothing like going through a Small Door of an entrance into the sound of squeaky floorboards of a lovely Old Hotel. This hotel has plenty of character unfortunately Ive not had the privilege of staying here overnight or any kind of dinner or even breakfast, however Ive dropped off lots of people here and Ive not heard one bad thing about it.
Waited some time for our drinks for a private function we had - food was ok but not amazing as expected. Decor and venue itself is very nice and elegant but overall somewhere I wouldnt rush back to soon
Nice hidden treasure in Egham
Simply amazing! Why go into London when you can have fine dining at Great Fosters in Egham. We dined at Tony Parkins Tudor Room on our anniversary (having been married in Great Fosters the previous year). From the moment we were met by the friendly team our experience was flawless. Each course is carefully designed to wow but not over power. The dishes included goats cheese and beetroot palate cleanser, sea bass & cavair, quail, monkfish and a honey & milk pudding. Stephen the awesome sommelier matched each course with a beautiful glass of wine including a Verdicchio and Sancerre. I have to say it was simply a lovely evening and at £95 for 5 courses it is true value for money. What made it even better is that Tony personally introduced the dishes and talked about their creation, bringing each dish to life. We will be back very soon!
Wonderful experience, food was fantastic as was the service. Some great humour from the waiters and overall had an enjoyable experience. Would definitely return in the future!
Classy.
Truly stunning meal. The attention to detail was second to none. Customised menu due to my wifes needs and offered alternatives. They went out of their way to make our meal special and special it was. I cant thank the manager enough for one of the best meals and experiences! Highly recommended. Worth every single penny!
Mothers day afternoon tea! Go every year , absolutely delicious, staff are amazing as is the building itself! Love , love , love this beautiful place .
Amazing food and exceptional staff.
Exceptional food and service. Well done.
Fantastic value
We had a great lunch menu at the Tudor Room yesterday. It is indeed a room, with maybe 8 tables in total, and a bit dark, but with nice views to the beautiful gardens, which are worth a visit. The staff was very friendly and took the time to explain thoroughly every dish. They were particularly attentive, perhaps a bit too much so (constantly looking at us), but it didnt spoil the experience, as the food was really top-quality, definitely worth a Michelin star. We were welcomed with some lovely canapés followed by a small olive oil and peas pre-starter, which was subtle and refreshing, even if on the small side. The bread and butter was very nice indeed, warm and crusty as it should be in a restaurant of this standard. We then had starters: my pigeon was particularly nice, but the cold crab dish of my guest wasnt so flavoursome. The sea bream was refined too, but not exceptional. For mains I had a really tasty pork dish (made of various parts of the pork, including some tender cheek cooked in barbecue sauce) and my guests had the equally well-executed turbot with lovely parmesan gnocchis. For dessert, two of us had a light and exquisitely presented dish celebrating the gariguette strawberry (compressed, fresh, as a sorbet, tuiles) and the other guest enjoyed a rich manjari chocolate sponge with coffee cream and yuzu sorbet. Both desserts were equally good, but flavours in the starters and mains could have been more consistent. Only three tables of the room were used on a Friday lunch, which makes me wonder why cancellation within 48 hours would incur a charge. Overall the experience was great, service was faultless and we will probably return, but we had even better food at the Latymer, which is now unfortunately closed for lunch on Fridays. If possible, I would have given 4 and a half stars. Going there for a lunch is nice the gardens are beautiful too. Highly recommended.
Nice place
Absolutely delicious food, extremely well presented, lovely ambience. Great service, will definitely return.
Wonderful experience.
Be aware - they have a formal dress code which isnt mentioned anywhere on their website. Our afternoon was rather spoilt when we showed up in smart casual which weve not had a problem with at other restaurants at this standard or higher in similar settings, and we were made to feel quite foolish. The food itself was decent, but not anything special. I enjoyed my dessert, but the starter and mains were forgettable. A word of advice to the restaurant - I have no problem with the concept of a dress code, but, a simple note on the website or when the customer makes a reservation costs nothing and helps set expectations appropriately to avoid embarrassment on both sides. A Michelin star these days does not automatically tell the customer that they should be in full formal attire.
Sheer perfection. An outstanding dining experience from start to finish.
A very special place to indulge
Good service and average food for the price. Noisy music next to restaurant was not ideal
Lovely place for family gathering.
Exceptional fine dining experience. Im only glad I discovered it before the Michelin assesors did.
Probably the best meal Ive eaten this year We were made to feel like royalty. Every dish on the menu is carefully crafted and plated like a work of art. Magnificent wine choices by the sommelier and flawless service by the entire team.
Chose this restaurant for my mother s and girlfriend s birthday. The entire experience was fantastic, from the charismatic waiters, to the food, the attention to detail was spot on and my family had a great time. If I could criticise one thing, it would be that they had one piano tune on repeat the whole time in the restaurant - it became a little repetitive for some of us - but other than that a very enjoyable experience.
