Had a wonderful experience, the food was so good and the quality, quantity was both amazing .
Tonight's family dinner at the was a memorable experience, filled with flavors that transported us straight to the heart of Somalia. The portions were incredibly generous, ensuring everyone left feeling satisfied and content. Each dish was a testament to the rich culinary heritage of Somalia, bursting with authentic tastes that delighted our palates. While the food was exceptional, there were a couple of areas that could be improved. The lack of air conditioning made the dining experience a bit uncomfortable, especially on a warm evening. Additionally, the absence of a baby changing station in the restroom posed a challenge for families with young children needing to change diapers. However, the restaurant's thoughtful inclusion of a prayer room was a wonderful touch, demonstrating their commitment to accommodating the diverse needs of their patrons. Overall, the delicious food and generous portions more than made up for the minor inconveniences. If you're looking for an authentic Somalian culinary adventure, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit!

Always in to try something new and be amazed. I don't even remember seeing a Somalian restaurant, forget about trying one. Went for dine-in on a rainy Saturday and was impressed by the food. Agree with the remarks that service and atmosphere could have been better, but nothing wrong with the Roasted Goat combo I tried. Recommended to someone who's looking to expand their culinary experiences.
As a Ghanaian coming from New York , this Somali food in Canada was very tasty and the workers were very polite. They served a good portion of the food and the fresh mango juice was good all it needed was some ice. I recommend this spot!
Did a pick up order, it was renovated and very inviting, portions are huge and the board has taxes included! The dinner for 2 can easily feed 4-5 people for sure. Chicken is great and they use dark meat as well. Beef was even better. Great services as well and always packed
The food was delicious. Masha Allah the roast goat was very tender and moist, alhamdulillah. Serving was large. They do accept credit card for in person order now. You can call ahead and place your order so it's ready when you get there. Services were excellent.
Went here for lunch with colleagues after spending a few hours bowling. Everyone’s appetite was pretty high so we were really looking forward to this lunch and the food did not disappoint! Let me just say the portions were more than generous for the price, but that didn’t take away from the incredible taste of the food. Three of us had the roasted goat, another had goat shoulder and one person had chicken. The goat dishes were absolutely amazing; the meat was tender, well seasoned, and savoury. The rice that came with the dish was surprisingly tasty and well balanced with the meat. All the dishes came with refreshing mango juice, which was awesome. The chapati that came with some of the goat dishes was okay, but was a little bit heavier than expected. I wish the dish came with some sort of spicy or mild sauce for the rice dish. The chicken was a little salty, but except those two cons, I was thoroughly satisfied with this restaurant. The customer service could use some cheering up though, not exactly bad, but just a little cheering up.
Sad to say it, but the quality has gone down. Was once the best spot for this cuisine, i think the chefs or owners have gotten lazy with the prep of their food. No more sauteed onions, xawaash spice not detectable, and Bariis iskukaris (rice) is tasteless. No oil used in the pasta dish anymore, and its no where near the taste of the past. Not trying to berate a family establishment, but I think youre relying on your reputation and your loyal customers to keep rolling, but it won be acceptable to those in the know. Id like nothing more than the quality and dedication to the food you once had to be brought back, and would redact this review if shown to be the case. Until then, my dining budget dollars will be going elsewhere.
Xamdi is just not a Somali restaurant restaurant for the somalis anymore.the food is super salty, cashier lady had a resting B face not friendly at all and the cutlery wasnt clean.i recommend Bilal for the somalis that want the experience of eating authentic Somali food.xamdi didnt even have moos.what are they doing the whole restaurant should of been close because of that reason .
Must eat once in life
Hamdi opened our eyes to the world of Somalian food back in 2004. We have been coming ever since. Every member of our family including older picky eating adults who only eat Desi food, to young babies- we just love hamdi. You can t go wrong with anything on their menu. Make sure you get a mango drink on the side. Our order is generally their large shared sunnah platters with rice and pasta with drumsticks and goat. Worth the traffic and car ride!

Excellent and authentic. Family run restaurant that doesn t hold back on portions. They even offered us free water, juice and soup as dine in guests.
Service is could be better. I placed and order for pick up 30 minutes in advance but when I arrived my food wasnt even prepared. I had to wait in the lot for another 20 minutes and pasta was cold with NO seasoning, I had to go home to reheat and add SALT and seasoning to make it edible. The drumsticks were good though. I also saw a server in the back kitchen plating a dish and touching the pasta with his bare hands. Needless to say hamdis has fallen off with quality of rice and spaghetti dishes

An amazing gem of cultural cuisine and a must-visit in Toronto. The food and service were phenomenal! Great portions and delicious tea! This is what authentic Somali food tastes like. The service there is all smiles. Prices are AMAZING as well. I will be returning the next time I am in town!
Mashallah. Goat and rice was so good It been a few years since I ate hear. The amount was great. If any one has not tried Solmaian food you should. The taste of the goat and the rice filled with goat flavor is so tasty

Vegetarian options: Vegetable were raw and I spent like $200 on dumb food I think they changed the chef everything was bad not even giving soup or bananas and we got black strang hair in steak uuuy nasty we had to throw the meat u guys should cover your hair all meat was so dry we cant even chew hard to bite next time we better go to sahan restaurant which is way better than u guys.
They take extra time to get food ready..phone orders are never ready on time.
I have heard a lot about hamdi restaurants from coworkers to friends. I tried the food and I regretted it. The salt was too much! I couldn t eat the meat because I care about my kidneys. Too much salt. The salt was too much. The salt was too much. Please I hope this never happens again if I would ever buy the food again.
The worst restaurant in the city. Serving food thats days old and smelling bad. The prices are ridiculous and the customer service is even worse. The employees are racist and are only kind to their own people. If youre not Somalian they treat you like youre not even there. Public health should shut this restaurant down as they dont care about following health and safety rules. I advice everyone to never order from them because you will deeply regret it

Used to be one of my favorite restaurants bit quality has been going downhill for a while now. Found a clump of goat hair in my food (2017) EDITED TO ADD AS OF FEB 2024 Took a chance to revisit this place in the hopes that maybe they were going through some change in management As you can see in my picture, it looks like they recycled someone elses leftovers and just added some rice to my plate The empty meat bone shows clear signs of having been picked apart by someone else, and when I showed them, they simply brought back my same plate with some more meat added , disgusting Clear health and safety violation Ironically, while I was trying not to vomit, another customer had a complaint regarding customer service with the waiter Will NOT be giving this place another chance
Decided to try hamdis after my brother told me about it. I ordered the roasted goat platter. It was really good and very reasonable price, especially considering they offer complimentary mango juice, salad and lentil soup. Would definitely come back to try more of the menu options.

I had an amazing experience visiting this restaurant today. I was drawn by the reviews and I must say I am not disappointed. I ordered a chicken stew and it was amazing. I also was given a special sauce which was slightly spicy but that just made it taste even better. The service is amazing the staff was respectful and made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be returning here again and bringing more people to share the experience. Thank you Hamdi team you guys were amazing.

Love the food and service, we get food catered from them, they pack it so nicely, the flavors are on point. And quantity is also great, they serve their customer ginger tea complementary, I only wish they didn t add sugar, otherwise love the tea. My kids love the mango juice. We have been coming here for past 15 yrs, now since they have updated the place it looks fresh and welcoming, with plenty of seating. When we cater food its about $220, that food can feed easily 25 adults. So keeping that in mind food is really reasonable.
Came to dine after many years. Food is good but not exactly as it used to be with previous management. Same for mango juice. But worth the money. Parking: Lot of parking spot. No issues.

There is one guy who is pure ignorant and id like to ask him to quit his job since he seems to be forced to work but dont want to. His rude and unprofessional. Cooks are not good and even though they are generous with food portions u can notice how filthy and unclean the kitchen looks just be a glance. They even served me ray chicken because i came late . I advise everyone to check their order before leaving since they tend to serve you what they want instead of what you ordered.

I love the food, is absolutely delicious the amount of food they serve is very good! I think thats the best from this place, tasty and abundant. The mango juice is just the best ever, they give a very good serve and is included in the plater for 2. It become our favorite stop, we visit very often the goat is our favorite. The service is good, although they serve you and kinda forget about you, if you need anything extra go stand up and ask. Is little bit cold also, so bring your jacket if you plane to dine in. Overall we love it

If you are a meat lover than this restaurant is for you halal got meat a huge portion at cheap price plus the rice or pasta with some salad . Parking: Parking is little difficult but after searching a little bit you will find a spot.
They kicked us out the restaurant half way through our meal. They brought the food to our table in take out boxes, no one said there is no dine in and there were no signs saying that either. I usually dine in so me and my brother started to eat our food.10-15 minutes later a man came shouting at us I told you not to eat here! And then he said to stop eating and pack the rest our food and leave. No one told us we could not eat in the restaurant until half way through our food, I eat here often with my brother but now I will never be coming back. Very disrespectful and rude. Me and my brother eat here regularly but after todays experience, I definitely would not recommend. No respect for even loyal customers.

I came here with my family and we haven t been here in a while. Hamdi restaurant still has the taste and the quality customer service that they had years ago as well. I ordered the Goat and it was amazing. We got soup as well and also it came with mango drinks too. This place is amazing and to me is the best place to have Somali food.
I had an amazing experience visiting this restaurant 3 times aweek at mississauga. I visited mississauga branch today on monday 22 May, th3 food was not upnto my expecation and the services was sooo bad , late and ignores moatvoof the time any requeqt or services . Please find way to manage this matters .
It s tragic when you finally find a go to place for your meals and all of a sudden the food that the restaurant is serving leftovers/ kept in the heater for too long. I usually drive a lot of miles to eat in this place but not anymore.

I went to their Mississauga location yesterday for dinner. The food portion was very generous, reasonably priced and the staff was friendly, polite and courteous. It was a pity that they were sold out on goat shoulder at 8 PM, so had to order another goat dish. The goat meat was not as tender as one would like to have (falling off the bones); hence the low star rating. It was probably because the kitchen was struggling to keep up with the orders.
The food is excellent. However, I feel there is a lot of room for improvement in service quality. It was a long wait to get served and have my order ready. If customers are waiting in line, it will be helpful to approach them, greet them and let them know the approximate wait time.

I would give these guys a 5 star if their service was a little bit better. The food is absolutely awesome. I drive from Oakville to this place whenever I can, to get this food. A little improvement in how they service the customer and they would be a complete package. Btw, just to be clear, they are not rude or impolite or anything, actually the exact opposite, just lack of professionalism a little. The guys are super nice and food is awesome.

OK this is the OG Somali place. Truly amazing food and very very nice people but not exactly white glove napkin on your arm Butler service. Perfectly adequate though and the food is delicious. In particular, the gold shoulder is truly the jewel in the crown. I m also a big fan of spaghetti and fried chicken drumsticks overall truly a wonderful experience.

Been a Hamdi fan for a while. We had an event catered through the location in Mississauga Ridgeway. Food packaging was amazing, the drive home was safe without any food leaks. Food was fresh as always and my guests were amazed at how fresh food was. We ordered everything off the menu and the meats and chicken was cooked to perfection. There samosa was huge hit as appetizer with my guests. Great job Hamdi!! Keep up the great work, you have me, my family and my friends as your consumers for life!
We come to Hamdi every weekend but just had a really poor experience and unfortunately won t be back. We always get a roasted goat platter and despite an increase in prices, the portion was much smaller but the meat came out cold and looked like it was day old meat which was reheated. When we raised it with our server he took our plate only to return it heated up in the microwave. The meat was so hard and definetly not fresh. Out of the four small pieces we were given each, 60% of it was bone or fat. We come every week so we know what their fresh meat looks and tastes like. Unfortunately, the server was not professional and instead of apologizing asked us if we want to replace it with chicken which we did not. It was the first time we asked for a refund and left and as we were leaving we noticed fresh goat meat being brought out to other customers. Very poor experience, service and quality this time and unfortunately won t be bakc

WOW GREAT RESTAURANT!!! I LOVE THEIR FOOD AND ALSO THE QUANTITY OF FOOD!! PRICES MIGHT BE A BIT HIGH, BUT WHEN YOU DONT MIND ABOUT THE PRICES, FOOD IS JUST SCRUMPTIOUS!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Rexdale location- The food was terrible, very hard chewy meat and they served it cold. The fish was cold and dry. They give you large portions but the quality and execution was weak. Also, didn t see many Somali people there, which leads me to believe they have moved on from this place that at one time was great.

Goat shoulder is out of this world. Juicy, tender, prices are extremely reasonable for its portion. A meal here is more than enough for 2 people to eat. The mango juice is delicious, and all is near perfect
