3060 Bloor St W, Etobicoke, ON M8X 1C4, Canada
Long-standing family-run fish 'n' chips shop with a homey vibe & 300 teapots from around the world.
This is a good place for good old fish & Chips, the calamari was proper but coleslaw was underwhelming. Staff are very friendly and it gets busy.
You walk in, and you can smell the food cooking. The waitress was pleasant and friendly. The food was to die for. I gave them 11 out of 10. It brought back memories of the Maple Leaf Fish and Chips.
Great halibut. Perfect local restaurant. Staff always very friendly and accommodating. Can get in and out quickly if needed most days. Recently went on nice day and they had the front windows open which was lovely. Dessert looks great but am normally too full to order. Have done take out too and easy to call in and then grab. It is flat to get in so a wheelchair could get in but I don’t know if there is button to open the doors. I can get in easily with my cane and they have tables not just booths to sit at. Parking depends on time of day and day of week. Usually can find eventually. Is street parking.
Visited on Mar 22/24 for dine in lunch before noon. First time visiting this fish and chip shop and I love how quaint it was. I was reading up on some of the history which was nice. Service was quick, though the place was fairly empty for noon on a Friday. Maggie was super great and attentive. Ordered #2 The Best Deal off the lunch menu and maybe it's just been a while since having fish and chips for me but this wasn't the best deal. Upgraded to a Lobster Bisque for $1.95 and got the Halibut and half chips with a drink for $27.40. One piece of fish and a half serving of chips didnt leave me impressed. Yes, the fish tasted great and so did the chips but the portion sizing was something to be desired. Definitely lacking in lunch value. I basically left still hungry. I also wasn't too big of a fan of the tiny size portion of tartar sauce and one lemon. Like in the ketchup cup? At least there was malt vinegar. Don't judge me for how much tartar sauce I like with my fish... I've added a photo of their lunch menu and my order. Maybe go somewhere else if you have a hankering for fish and chips. (Yes, cost of living shrinkflation etc etc I'm just saying the value is not there. I shouldn't be paying almost $35 at lunch time and walking away hungry).
Came here for takeout one evening. The battered halibut was very good. The chips were mediocre. I found the portion size quite small for what they charge though.
This place is absolutely fantastic. I got their "#2 best deal special" which comes with halibut chowder and fish n chips for a great price. The chowder was really really good. Never had halibut chowder before, only clam showder. This chowder was super good. Really creamy and perfectly spiced. You can taste the halibut, but it's not fishy at all. I was very pleasantly surprised. The fish n chips are always good here. Perfectly battered and fried. Always nice and hot when you get it. The fish is nice and crunchy on the outside but flakey and moist on the inside. The chips are always nicely salted and crisp. I've always had great service here. Everyone seems very friendly and happy. They make sure your glass isn't empty as well. They do decorate for the holidays which is cool. But I do like their quirky decor that's always up. Just funny little wooden canadian signs and such.
The food was great! Fish and chips is 👌🏻. It was my first time to try an apple fritter and it didn’t disappoint 😁. Will definitely come back!
Amazing fish & chips! The price is a bit more than average, but for really good quality battered seafood! We always get the Scallops & Chips and the Fish & Chips. So much chips and their tartar sauce is delicious. There are lots of seating area. And there's tons of cool memorabilia from famous people that have eaten here. They take cash or credit/debit. The only downside here though, is that they close at 8pm on Tues to Thurs, Saturday and 8:30pm on Friday. I wish they opened just a bit later like 9 or 10pm! Do note, when you pre-order, make sure to remember what the name it's under and your order. When you walk in, they'll ask for name and will repeat the order before asking for payment to make sure it's the correct one. They have lots of pre-orders when you drop by on Fridays!
First time going to this place Love the fish and chips
great food great service we were the first people in to eat today Recommended dishes
Excellent food
Best Fish & Chips!! Staff are great; owners are very hands on, super friendly. Can t wait to be back!
The server and atmosphere were pleasant enough - ordered Fish and a 1/2 (smaller portion of fries is a great idea) but the battered fish was very disappointing.
Best fish and chips in the area!
I like the atmosphere but didn t like the fish
Kingsway to Russell Hills Cazs. Caz is gone, very happy Kingsway is still number One. Thank you!
Some of the best fish and chips I ve had! Complimented by amazing service.
This is not traditional fish chips .... And the price its to high for one piece of half fish and cold chips.....
They cook their fish and fries in Beef fat. So good.
Been eyeing this place for a while. Stepped in for lunch with a colleague and we both loved it. Super friendly staff serving bomb halibut.
I have looked for a better fish and chips place all over the world in England, Scotland, the US, and this is literally the best place I have ever tried. I always tell British people that actually the best fish and chips place is in Etobicoke not London. I have no idea what they are doing but I have given up trying to find anywhere better. The staff are also extremely nice.
Amazing experience and food. Service was awesome would definitely recommend!
amazing spot for great food and great service! These guys know how to do fish and chips and other British food - extensive menu with lots of tasty options to choose from. Service is super friendly and helpful - pleasure to be around. You dont go there for the decor/atmosphere, as its got a bit of an outdated diner/cafeteria feel to it, but everything else is top notch! Prices are fair. Recommended!
Really good. Classic establishment.
Wanted a lighter lunch and they obliged! Very fresh and plump!
Best damn fish and chips!! Try the apple fritters!
Food was fine but insanely expensive for takeout. $42 for two pieces of fish and one portion of chips! I won t be going back in a hurry.
4.5* It s consistent and delicious. There s better in Toronto, but not many. 2 and a few is my go to and it s a good size portion, be hungry! Prices are a little steep, but not crazy for the neighborhood. A good, solid local chippy.
Update: inflation raises its ugly head. Portions seem to get smaller whilst prices have ballooned! I would be more than happy to pay a higher price as long as the portions are still satisfying. Even the plates themselves are beginning to look smaller to accommodate the diminished servings.
Delicious. With good portions.
Very very good fish ,lightly battered ,was here for Xmas now in March still VERY VERY GOOD.
Been there a few times, food is great and always fresh and tasty. Parking can be tricky.
The best fish and chips
Halibut was worth it!
They do fish and chips well. Simple but pricey and small portions. Appreciate that their fries are made in beef talon. Parking: Parking is limited. Can be tricky.
Good fish and chips
Low expectations may be the key to happiness most of the time, but NOT here! Tender and juicy halibut with a moderately crispy batter on the outside is what you can expect. The half & half lunch option is nice with a reasonable portion of fries and coleslaw. If youre used to buying fish & chips in the suburbs or from food trucks, Kingsway is more expensive (most menu items hover around the low $20s), but worth the trip for big fish & chips fans, and well priced compared to local restaurants Parking: Few spots available at most points in the day. Kid-friendliness: Interesting decorations on the walls may pique kids interest. Atmosphere can be louder or quieter depending on whether you sit on the patio or in the back. Wheelchair accessibility: Might be a tight fit through the main door. Washroom located on the main floor should be large enough (more are downstairs, but no elevator or ramp).
We dont get to Bloor West often so was really looking forward to this. Beautiful day, so sat outside. Food was so disappointing. Oil must of been old as the french fries were terrible and tasted heavy in oil. The fish was the same. Batter was so greasy. The lobster bisque was like water and seriously for an upcharge of $1.95 for a tiny bowl; made no sense. Coffee was cold. Atmosphere was fun and the place was certainly packed. I just dont understand the attraction. We are not fussy eaters; and perhpas this was an off day; but we were both very disappointed.
Today I visited this place with my best friend and I want to tell you guys that this is the best place with good food, good atmosphere and professional people! It s not my first time there so that s why I can recommend you visit this place! Thank you Lila for good service! She was so cute and kind with us Thank you everybody!!!
I wanted to take my parents to this restaurant today, we took a long drive just to find the store closed. They could have updated the listing here to avoid misleading customers.
Our search for the finest fish and chips has brought us to west-end Toronto, to a place known as Kingsway Fish and Chips. Despite not being a constant contender in the ongoing debate over the citys best fish and chips, it has garnered commendable reviews that piqued my curiosity. This is a family-run establishment with a genuine homey ambiance. Its evident that they have a loyal following, as the staff appeared quite chummy with some of the regular patrons. Kingsway Fish and Chips took a commendable approach by using halibut for their fish. Halibut is a reputable choice for fish and chips, and the initial impression from the pictures suggested that the batter would be thin, airy, and crisped to perfection. However, the actual outcome was quite the opposite. The batter was only somewhat crispy, with an even more disheartening interior. The fish itself, known for its flakiness, was surprisingly firm, bordering on being less flaky than what youd find in a McDonalds Filet-O-Fish sandwich. The fries didnt fare much better, leaving the impression of being old and overly oily, as though they had endured multiple rounds of frying. If we must search for silver linings, their tartar sauce was notably light and struck a fine balance with its acidity. The service, too, deserves recognition for its quality. Its somewhat disheartening because, despite being an older establishment, their website boasts a modern and visually appealing menu. The pictures on their site depict an impressive array of delicious-looking dishes. Perhaps, Ill consider giving them a second chance to revisit and sample other items on their menu in the future, 2.5/5.
I ordered a fish and chips to pick up. It didn t come with coleslaw. When I asked for they told me that was just for the Sallon. If I wanted for take away, I should pay a part it s already expensive for the meal I don t come back there.
Our family has been coming here for generations. My grandparents were Friday night regulars back in the day. When my grandmother passed away it was very hard on my grandfather. So, he and I began going for dinner together once I moved to the city. It s been quite some time since he too passed. Now, I go with my family and it s been the same delightful experience and the same fish and chips that I first enjoyed all those years ago. Crispy, light and delicious. The best I ve ever tasted. The restaurant is a treasure to the neighbourhood. I would rate them 5 if I could because they are truly a gem.
Best tasting fish and chips Ive had.
First she brought our way over priced fish and chips with a hair on the fries very small portions for a $22 piece of fish that was so small you could barely see it the breading was greasy and so thin and crisp there was nothing there the gravy had a cup of salt in it we asked if it came with coleslaw she said yes and it was one table spoon of coleslaw then we ordered an order of coleslaw on the side for $4 that was maybe a half cup and was so saturated with mayo it was virtually tasteless no salt or peeper to season when making it it was so bland its been there for yrs I went in there aboutb20 yrs ago it wasnt bad but this time it was horrible $83 for three orders of fish and chips a small gravy a regular coleslaw and a small pop way over priced the waitress was not good at all the young one with long curly hair never even came back to the table until we were done very poor service then I put a $100 bill there she goes do you need change what excuse me Im giving you a $17 tip for what you dropped the food on the table that was it what a nut and exchanged the food with hair no disciunt no sorry no nothing then was trying to steal $17 bucks for a tip I should report them Ill
$43.00 - I was robbed! You guys are robbing customers by not giving them the value of food for which they paid.
Great fish n chips. Very friendly staff. Lots of tables. Cozy, laid back atmosphere. Could use a little redecorating, but naaah- thats half the charm of this place! Feels like you are in the 50s or 60s. Kid-friendliness: Family restaurant
Half decent fish and chips. Chips are a little dry. Prices are excessive! Food
Great fish and chips - perfectly cooked. Never disappoints.
Simply put...the best Ive had in a while. Lightly battered large piece of fish, generous amount of fries. Phoned in order and it was ready in under 10 minutes. Great service fair price.
Absolutely delicious! Easily the best fish n chips spot I ve ever been to :)
Always loved this place for fish and chips
I came with my Dad and his Girlfriend , all for our first time. Lorraine was our server . It was a busy night for her, but she was professional, helpful and gave us a little history on the restaurant. The food was excellent ! Fresh and great portion sizing. AND the Brownie is definitely a must for dessert. Needless to say we will be back!!
Excellent fish and chips and extensive menu. Not the cheapest fish and chip menu around but the taste is excellent. The portions of fries are huge try haddock or halibut and a few to get a smaller portion of chips and save a few cents.
Friendly place. Good food, good service. Meets expectation.
My first visit here was very, very good! A very cute local spot with excellent food! Had the special with lobster bisk and halibut. The batter was light and crunchy and the fish moist and flavorful. The fries were outstanding as well. Fast, friendly, efficient service completed what was a terrific experience! I wouldnt hesitate to go back again when Im in the neighborhood.
Great lunch special, I had the half and half. Enormous portion, if this is half I may not even need the whole meal! Too yummy to remember to take pictures , but Ill definitely be back and will share then.
By far the best Fish & Chips Friendly staff and its a very clean restaurant.
One of the best customer service and the best fish and chips you could ever get. A lady who served us was called Lorraine, and she is polite , super friendly, and helped us to choose the best option from their menue. We had their famous fish and chips with Ceasar salad and another salad with apples and some raspberry dressing. The food was fresh and tasty. We definitely come back .
Delicious
Excellent fish and chip shop.
Great taste
Great fish and chips. bit pricy but worth it.
First time eating here. The lineup for takeout was a 1/2 km long. We were able to get a table inside and were accommodated with my service dog. Wait staff were out of this world. Friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Service was fast and efficient. Food was out of this world. Great fish and chips. Dinner was served within 5 minutes of placing our order. Hot fresh and delicious. Thank you for an amazing dining experience. The atmosphere is bright and clean and does not have the odour of a deep fried fish restaurant. WELL DONE staff and ownership. Keep up the amazing work and service.
Went for takeout on its known busiest day of the year. Its a long line for this one day, but a nice meal nonetheless. Staff are really good and still manage a smile despite the heavy workload.
Love this place. Been eating here for years and still never fails to impress me. Great food. Excellent service. Totally recommend going there and dining with the family or just a nice dinner for 2.
Perhaps, the best dine in Fish and Chips in the city. So far, no one else has bumped them off the top rung.
I found their fish was very crisp and light. I ordered the halibut. The place itself is very quaint and the servers were friendly.
Wow. Iv heard this place is sapost to be very good. Its been around forever and is talked highly of. I grew up in south etob where lakeshore fish and chips has been my go too place since i was a kid. I just finished up a meal at the kingsway for the first time and can honestly say Id never go back. If I could compare it to any fish and chip iv had in the past it would have been the equivalent to the $7.99 fish and chips you use to get in the 90s at zellers restaurants. Expt two fish and chips and two sodas cost us $63 at the kingsway. The portions were small . I left still hungry. Fist time and last time for me
Not as good as other customers said. Lousy food and lazy staff! Very bad choice!
Always clean, great service, always good food. Well worth it.
Great service, super friendly! I love the fries
Disgusting
Get the onion rings....amazing!!!! Fries werent great.
These are the best Chips in North America bar none.
A wonderful seafood and waitress Lorraine its so friendly!!! I really recommend Patio summer
Best Halibut and Chips in the area....dont pass it up people.....
Halibut Fish and chips were awesome
Delicious, clean and The services is amazing
Service was great! Food was good. I prefer a vinegar based coleslaw over mayo. Halibut was nice. I will be back.
The prices were high. I ordered lobster soup and got no lobster and basically tomato soup. It wasnt good. My two co-workers were also disappointed with the food. The service was good though.
First time here and wow! Best batter, best chips, fish was delicious and have been there a long time. Going back for dinner with the family tonight. Well done Kingsway.
I happened to be walking by with a friend, we saw it was busy so we decided to go in. The server was very nice and professional. I had a light lunch with a bowl of soup. I choose the lobster bisque, it was delicious!! Every bite had pieces of lobster, cant go wrong with that. I wish I got a large bowl instead of the small one. The lunch has huge, I finished the fish and left a few chips. The halibut batter was crispy, airy, and very good. It was a big portion of fish. The chips were pretty good. I am not sure if the tartar sauce is homemade but it was pretty good as well. They are currently offering Kids eat free on Tuesday!! Pretty good deal, it will give me a chance to try more items on the menu. A definite must try!!
Family run business, one of the best fish and chips Ive ever eaten in Toronto.
One of the best fish and chips in town, try other options than halibut. They taste really well with the batter
Excellent food, service and staff.
Best fish and chips in the city, hands down. Not overly greasy and the batter is light. If it comes in newsprint, you know its legit.
Very fresh fish and chips
Our favourite fish and chips. The fish is very meaty and the batter delicious.
Great food, friendly staff. A wonderful place to grab a bite. Hits the spot every time!
Fast and friendly service
Delicious fish~ Batter was perfect!
Very good service. Your order gets ready in 5 mins and the staff are very friendly and helpful
The best fish and chips in Etobicoke but also the busiest unfortunately.
Great fish and chips!
The food is delicious!
I like going to Kingsway Fish and Chips in the winter months because its just so beautiful to have some fish and chips with an ice cream sundae on the side and watch the snow fall along The Kingsway.
Great place to eat and exceptional hospitality. If you don t eat here you re missing out!
You absolutely cant get better halibut fish and chips than at Kingsway F&C. Great Caesar salad, great coleslaw, great service!!!
Excellent customer service and the best fish and chips ive had in a long time! Definitely will recommend to friends and family
Good service.
Excellent
Amazing service and food! The waitress was so kind and courteous.
Very friendly and fast service.
Easily the best Fish and Chips inToronto!
The food was amazing, the friendly service was a welcome breath of fresh air in this covid time. 100%vrecommend
It was a pleasure to be able to sit down in a neighborhood place. The staff was exceedingly friendly and the food was delicious, as always.
Consistent as always!
Crispy batter, tender fish, great chips. Good value as well.
A little pricey but worth the money if u want better food.
The very best fish and chips in this area of city
The fries taste slightly beefy which is GREAT. The fish is fantastic, both halibut and haddock. Everything is solid.
The best fish and chips in Ontario Period.
Good, just expensive.
Great place for fish and chips!
I came here tonight with a friend to grab a bite. Yummy food!! I had the grilled halibut with some fries and the yummy salad with strawberries and feta. My friend had tacos. The service was absolutely amazing and Lorraine was so welcoming, friendly and amazing.!! Will definitely come back.
Great food. Good price. Great staff.
Your restaurant is amazing your stuff is nice and clean everything is a fire star for food two , but honestly the biggest scam you guys have in your restaurant is the grilled fishes I don t believe this piece that is half size of a regular size hand is worth $17 with a small can of rice you guys should reconsider this be honest about it with costumers when they ask about portions
Not as good as I expected it to be
Delicious but wish the portion was larger for the price especially the coleslaw.
For us ,easily the best Fish and Chips in Toronto. As well super friendly staff that always remember your family. Love Kingsway!!!!
Good food....decent value....
Nice spot, quick and reasonable food. Great if youre out and feel for lunch but want something a bit different.
One of the most well established fish and chip joints in TO - used to come here as a kid. Still serving excellent fare - nice menu, no frills but comfortable and clean place. Awesome desserts, too. Lorraine is the best and nicest server. Always worth the trip to the Kingsway.
Fish is perfect, but fries is not good
Worth it just for the apple fritter. Classic fish and chips. Have an accesible entrance and main floor accesible washroom.
Consistently good quality. Friendly staff.
Pricey but excellent, quality halibut, I would recommend!
Good service, fish is nicely done, coleslaw is great. Price is a bit high, but ambiance is great.
Great venue. Classic!
Over priced and oily
Great fish n chips and service! Friendly staff made it a great experience for me and my family!
Kingsway Fish and Chips never disappoints!! A family favourite.
Classic fish and chips and great onion rings. Kinda pricy but great quality.
First time here...new in this area and I m very pleased with the food and service. I recommend the seafood platter :)
Friendly staff and decent fish and chips Get the seafood platter if you also like scallops and shrimp Margaret is a cutie pie
Atmosphere was great...my kids loved seeing all the different teapots mounted around the walls, the food was great with good portion sizes, and Lorraine provided incredible service!
After 20 years of coming here, it never disappoints.
Kingsway Fish & Chips really out did themsleves tonight! My halibut was perfect but the star was the apple fitter! Amazing!
Fantastic old school style family run fish and chips.
Perfect food, great service, lovely atmosphere.
The best fish and chip spot in Etobcioke, hands down. Highly recommend for anyone who needs a fix
This place has gotten better over time from good to great. Recently revamped menu is real good. Consistent. A staple. Like the potato or wheat.
My favourite place for halibut cooked to perfection in a crisp batter. My time to go is Saturday evening and I always order the lobster bisque. My favourite dessert is warmed rice pudding with raisins and cinnamon. Friendly staff in this family business. I live out of town but go there whenever I can.
One of the best Fish&Chips restaurant in the city
Seriously the best fish and chips in town. Golden crisp French fries and large fillets of high quality halibut with perfectly crisp batter. Homemade tarter sauce is a huge bonus and to die for! A Beautiful restaurant and amazing food all around make this family owned landmark a popular go-to in Etobicoke. 10/10!
Today I ordered halibut and chips and the apple pecan crisp. Everything was absolutely delicious. I will order from here again.
Great staff
Amazing fish and chips, high quality product and always friendly service.
Fantastic family run restaurant. Quality Halibut
We have been going here for many years, and although their prices are high for a fish and chip restaurant, the quality of the food is worth the money.
I love this place. Ive been eating here my whole life. Great fish and chips, coleslaw and desserts
An Extraordinary Resto for the AGES, and all people....I have been eating here for three decades or more. No one prepares fish and chips like this in North America. Better or as good as any CHIPPY in Scotland or England. Always strong on SERVICE, FRESHNESS, QUALITY. No short cuts. No stories, and No excuses. Outstanding value for fresh Halibut and Fries. Always adding treats to their menu but staying true to this vanishing cuisine. When I needed you during this pandemic, you stayed open for takeout and delivery. You never let me or my family down. I have the greatest respect and admiration for this WORLD FAMOUS FIXTURE on the kingsway. Dont miss it. I hope you stay open another 100 years... You taught me plenty about excellence. Remarkable Place.
I like the halibut fish here.
I used to have olde york fish and chip, after we move to etobicoke, see this place have good reviews, give them a try, batter too thick and fries dark and soaky. I never go back, not recommended to outsiders.
The lobster bisque on Saturdays and the Halibut perfectly cooked in a light, crispy batter are my favourites. A friendly busy atmosphere with great staff providing great service. l live out of town but I go there as often as I can. Update: Two of us had dinner inside on Saturday, 22 Aug 2020 one week after they resumed dine in service but at 50% capacity. The lobster bisque was as good as always and the halibut in the light crispy batter was wonderful. Reduced staff, of course, but providing great, friendly service. I will continue to go there as often as I can.
Amazing butter tarts.
Hands down the best traditional halibut fish and chips in Toronto. No other place compares in flavour...get the gravy.
Great fish, outstanding chips, coleslaw. Lovely service, clean and safe
Second visit and had the most amazing Apple fritter dessert with my hubby !
Excellent fish n chips, everytime
This has been my go-to fish and chips shop for years. Great basic fish n chips, plus a larger menu of other options; where else can you get haggis and chips and mushy peas? Beer and wine, great servers, bright cheerful room, you cant go wrong.
Great staff, awesome food.
Great food, lovely gals to service you and a clean, nice place to dine in.
Great place with amazing people. My family and I have been going there for over 10 + years!
The BEST fish and chips Ive ever had in town. Must try!!
They have IRN -BRU and bloodpudding! Food delicious and serving sizes just right. Their salads are seasonal and delicious. Waitstaff always welcoming, friendly and efficient. 2 minute walk from Royal York subway station. Wheelchair accessible. They can accommodate larger groups. My favorite dessert try the apple crisp.
Incredibly fresh fish. Sizes were perfect. Friendly staff.
Ill be back
This is the best fish & chips in the city. Super friendly, super eclectic and Canadian. The fish isnt fishy. The batter is crisp and a little sweet. Would shave my head for their strawberry milkshakes.
If you are looking for great fish and chips this is the place!
Great food, extremely kind customer service, and good price. Great place for a quick bite, or a full dinner. Would recommend.
Always excellent quality and friendly service. Great family atmosphere.
Good food and service
My favourite restaurant!
