460 Renforth Dr #14, Etobicoke, ON M9C 2N2, Canada
I think the soup was great it was in a good sized bowl and it had lots of noodles and seafood in it. It was a bit spicy but not too bad and if you like soup that has some really great flavours I highly recommend it.
If you want old fashioned fish and chips done perfectly, come here to eat. Korean food is also available if fish is not your favorite. All around great food. And the owner is very friendly.
I loved this place! The food was great, and was served hot! We arrived just 30 minutes before closing time, but the hosts were still gracious and courteous towards us. I would come back again.
Oh My Chicken- delish!!!! Fantastic to have Korean chicken and tasty snacks in the area! My little kid had fingers and fries; more than he could manage and I shared the garlic chicken with my bigger kids. On a different note a homeless kid came in asking for a free hot meal and the owners didn’t bat an eye. So nice to see them caring for this kid; not everyone would be as kind and generous!
I live in the area and enjoyed having it as a treat for my boys as we LOVE fresh cut fries. I think we can all agree generally fish and chip places are quite generous with their portions particularly their French fries. However, the last visit I had meaning today, I was charged $11 for a box of fries that were not even filled. The top actually sunk in. I'm appalled. Potatoes are probably one of the few things that have not been increasing in cost. These used to cost me $7.50!!! I think what is more insulting is that my husband purchased the exact same thing about 2 weeks ago and the gentleman that served him gave the traditional generous portion of fries. This was truly a disappointment. After 15 years, that's the last they'll see of my hard earned money.
We ordered a family pack from this place. It was our fist time here to order pick up. When you try and order online from their website it takes you directly to skip the dishes instead of allowing you to order direct. If you navigate around you can find their phone number and order directly. We picked up our food. A 5 piece halibut family pack cost us $84.50. Not bad if the food was worth it. But... here’s the lowdown: FISH: The fish was definitely not halibut. It was greasy, not white and flakey as it should be, and very thin. There was no crispiness to it. I called the owner and confirmed if he gave us halibut or haddock, he insisted he gave us halibut, which I find extremely hard to believe. Halibut is white, and flakey, this was yellow / grey and had many dark spots. Zero chance this was halibut. ONION RINGS: As you will see in the picture, these were not fully cooked and the GREASIEST onion rings I’ve ever seen. They were doused in oil, and undercooked. The container had a big layer of oil on the bottom that they sat on. Quite disgusting to be honest. COLESLAW: This was actually very good. It was a tiny container considering it was for a family pack. GRAVY: Typical brown gravy. Not bad. Very thick FRIES: Decent fries. Not fresh cut like other places I’ve had. They were not very greasy at least. PACKAGING: They package the items in cardboard containers wrapped with paper. OVERALL: I would not recommend this location. The food was overly greasy, poor quality and the owner did not own up to giving us haddock instead of halibut, despite the premium price.
I recently moved back into this neighborhood and was sad to see that the previous owners of Renforth Fish 'n Chips had sold the place and moved on. I grew up here and this place was a local institution. My wife and I had wondered about their Korean fried chicken for a while; we've had plenty of Korean fried chicken elsewhere and but a fish 'n chips joint doing Korean FC in an area of town that has barely any Korean/Asian people? Hmmmm...not sure - that is until a foodie friend in west Mississauga told me this week that she swears by this place and that we had to try it. DONE! Off we went tonight. The picture I've included here is of the small portion of the "seasoned chicken". What you don't see is the delicious puddle of thick plum-sauce-on-crack that the chicken is wading in. All I can say - EXCELLENT. This review is obviously of their Korean FC, which stands up against the best of them, and not the fish 'n chips, which I cannot comment on. The skin is perfectly crispy, not as overly greasy (a hallmark of Korean FC, which is double-fried), all pieces of meat super juicy (including the white meat) and the sauce has the perfect twang to it. According to the owner, small=half chicken ($19-20) and large=whole chicken ($30-31). Can't wait to go back and try their garlic and padak flavours! Like the previous incarnation of this place, it's a mom 'n pop shop, and the owners were very pleasant. At the time of writing this review, I can't think of a better place to order from with the "support local business" campaign during Covid. Forget The Fry and MyMyChicken. This is the place you want. Stop thinking and order. Your mouth will thank me.
A pretty good small mom and pop fast food diner. I had the chicken special which was fries, a can of pop and 2 fried chicken drumbsticks all for $10 flat tax included. They recently renovated to open up the dining area a bit and to freshen up the interior decoration. They now feature their seasoned Korean Fried Chicken under the brand O My Chicken. I am eager to try it soon. The staff are friendly and the chicken came out crispy and hot (temperature) and the meat was very juicy. 👍
The first time there it s a clean place not to busy menu not complicated good variety of foods not to expensive they carry beers Parking: Big parking lot Kid-friendliness: Kids could be as loud as you want. Variety of food for kids.
I didnt try the fried chicken but it looked good. The fish and chips were pretty standard. The best part for me was that its near Centennial Park Arena.
I find the price for the small portion of chips and fish kinda pricey. The place is dirty, I went downstairs to the bathroom and everything looks dirty like this place has never been cleaned. In addition the smell was so bad. Although the service was ok, but I wont come to this again.
Delicious fries. Delicious gravy. Delicious fish. Delicious Onion rings. Delicious milkshake!
good tokbokki
Disappointing. The fish did not taste like the description. Also the price of food for the amount did not add up.
Some of the best Korean fried chicken in Etobicoke. Parking: A few steps from the door. Kid-friendliness: Kids loved the chicken fingers
I ordered ramen seafood noodles and paid 16 dollars for it. What I got was instant noodles and a spoonful of seafood medly that shrunk so small. The noodles absorbed the liquid and there was no soup at all. Im really disappointed. Its daylight robery.
I had the OMY Korean Fried Chicken...awesome 5 stars!! I like to keep the sauce on the side to keep the chicken crispy. I also had Renforth Halibut and chips 4 stars.
A good family restaurant to come eat fish and chips.
Our family favourite for Korean Fried Chicken and Fish & Chips! Not too much sauce, but also not too bland. Great portions and crispiness too- my all time favourite poutine too
Definitely not like it used to be. Been dining/taking out from here for years even when I was a kid - Obviously its passed through a few owners since then. Ordered Halibut & Chips w/ a small side of gravy and a small coleslaw. $26.20 for 1 person. I get it, everything has gone up in price but at least for this pricepoint the food should be edible. Fish was gross Chips were okay Coleslaw was warm Gravy was the only thing here that was decent. Sadly after this experience I wont be returning.. even for nostalgia reasons.
Had the Cod and Chips. Both were great. Service was friendly. Cant wait to try the Korean BBQ chicken.
I order through doordash and they have the absolute best onion rings. Everything else is good too but the onion rings are super good
Love their Seasoned fry chicken !
This place is ridiculously expensive, the guy has lost his mind. We got 2 pieces of fish only, no fries. It cost 32$ plus tax. 16$ for one piece of fish only. And it was small, the size of a palm of your hand. Go somewhere else.
Great English Style Fish and Chips, generous portions. They also have delicious Korean Food. You d think it was an unusual combination but it works! It always smells good when I m walking by! Friendly hardworking owner/operators!
Great fish and chips with gravy. This place has been around since the 1970s. Hot spot with the locals in the Etobicoke Rathburn and Renforth area.
Omg! Delicious seasoned, sweet and hot chicken wings. Cooked to perfection !
traditional fish & chips, and delicious Korean style chicken.
Always a great experience when we go here. I can only speak on the fish and chips part of the menu, the other menu items I have never tried.
Eat here! I need them to stay in business so I can keep coming back. We only get the Korean fried chicken, but it is spectacular. Weve tried a bunch of places along Dundas and this is far and away the best. Crispy, right amount of sauce, and none of the sauces are too sweet unlike some of the other places. We have a free chicken coupon from the fry that we havent redeemed in the last 5 months because we only go here. On a nostalgic note, I like the fact that its a family business, made it feel extra safe during this pandemic, all things considered.
Great fish, prices and customer service! They re also open until 10pm which is very convenient.
I cant speak for the fish, but the fried chicken is Korean fried chicken. Which means light dusting of rice or potato starch and/or flour and fried once, rested and fried again. The result? Spectacular! I am not a take out girl, mainly BC quality suffers, but this is hands down one of my favorite fried chicken Ive ever had! Fried chicken is the most impossible dish to get right for some reason. You have this big expectation of getting Texan quality food and often its flavorless, soggy, too greasy, too breaded. But they nailed it! Not greasy, barely any dough, the sauce is phenomenal (garlic & seasoned), not too saucy. Great stuff. Highly recommend. Id go as far to compare it to the Brandos fried chicken at La Banane. Yep. I said it
Hi tried the halibut fish and chips 22 dollars average for fish and chips.Lets start with the halibut very oily and the portion was on the small side.OK but nothing to rave about. Now on to the chips very very dry could not finish them. Now on to the best part of the meal the coca cola ice cold
Ordered a chicken sandwich. He placed two pieces of chicken strips in the microwave and then grilled it O.o the chicken was so bland and had a weird taste. The fries also looked microwaved.
Good food.
Way too expensive for the quality and quantity of what you are receiving. There are much better fish and chips places around the area.
Fish and fries both had a smell. looks like they are frying in same oil all day . It was my first and last visit to this place.
Korean style Fried chicken is really great! Just like how it tasted back in Korea.
My first time ordering from here and i was terribly disappointed. Called in an order ahead. Asked for a 2 piece cod and fries was quoted almost $23. I was under the assumption that tye pieces were probably large because of the price being on the high side so i opted for a one piece and fries. Walked in quickly paid with debit and left. Upon arriving back at work this is what i opened. One small piece of fish!!! I called back thinking he my have packed the fries in another box and forgot only to find out that the $10.75+15% tip did no actually include fries they would be $2 more. That almost $15 for cod and fries absurd. I left 2 stars because the little bit of fish i did get was tasty.
Good
A great place to have KFC (Korean fried) in the area
For $20 I ordered halibut and fries my mistake for not saying halibut and chips because I didnt get fries, I got rice. And 1 piece of fish.
new looks !! serving chickens and burgers as well!!
Got a lot cleaner after the reno. Wings are good here - definitely try the sauce!
Not the biggest fan of the other items on the menu. The fish and chips here are always good (stick to it). The poutine here is the best Ive ever had. I highly recommend trying it
I was craving fish and chips and just heard some great things about this mom n pop shop so I decided to try it. Was I ever glad that I did! The fish is so fresh and tender and the only thing I could gripe about was whether to get the halibut or the cod (because I absolutely LOVE both)! Since I couldnt decide, I figured Id get both,I mean why not? First I tried the halibut. When I cracked the crispy battered layer, I was welcomed with picture perfect steam which was visibly intoxicating from the freshly cooked fish. The aroma brought me back to back when my uncle used to fry the fish on the docks of the west coast. I was going to save the cod for dinner later but I couldnt resist and actually ate it on the spot! Cant believe I finished both (its really filling). You can imagine what a pleasant surprise it was, especially going in without any expectations. The family running this place is super friendly and the service is that much better because of it. Its a bit of a trek for me to come all the way from Vaughan but believe it or not, I will be making more trips in the future and Im bringing my wife who is something of a fish connoisseur, and Im super curious about their new fried chicken recipe. Highly recommended!!
My apologies off the bat if I am missing a point here, but this was one of the most expensive smallest portion of overly oiled fish and chips I have ever tasted. Restaurants usually have something to cling on to, something that makes it special and here is fortunately, I couldnt see any of that.
Overpriced basic fish and chips. Nothing special.
Good food nice service
My parents have lived in the neighborhood for over 50 years and have over the years, always enjoyed fish and chips with the previous owners....never disappointed. Decided to surprise them and pick up two orders of the haddock and chips today. The fish was so thin and very over battered...no taste. The fries were COLD and tasteless....tasted as though they had been sitting out all day. I would have definitely returned the fries and requested fresher hot ones had we eaten at the restaurant however I had ordered for takeout. Contemplated returning to the restaurant to complain about the food but figured my complaint would go no where. Will definitely NEVER order from here again. I do not give reviews for takeout/restaurants however I felt this one was necessary.
Great fish and chips,
The food was good but it was overly expensive.
Disgusting, overpriced dump. Beware!!! Not even worth 1 star.
Nice little fish and chips place. Prices went up after Reno but hey take-out has gone up everywhere the past year.
1 small piece of fish with 25 fries. WOW. GROSSLY OVERPRICED! The lady on cash was ignorant and no social skills. She made me ferl like an inconveniemce. Bathroom was. So dirty.kitchen wasnt much better....
Amazing food best in the area
Overpriced and run down. I miss the old owners.
The food is good. The place is renovaate and look so cool. The environment is nice and quite, but i think they should put some music on and the place will be great.
extremely overpriced and run down, ordered a rice cake and charged like a high-end restaurant, but got a size like snack. they dont know the business. will never go back.
Place appears to need a little TLC. Fries were ok but the fish was not very appetizing
Amazing burgers
The waitress there wouldn t give me a cup of water and rudely said you can go and buy a bottle of water Then when I asked to go to the bathroom she wouldn t let me unless I bought a meal. In addition she gave me attitude and overall really rude
Battered chicken wings had small feathers on them disgusting!!
Very rude and racist Asian lady who I believe is the wife of the owner. Will not return. No smile, very cold and unwelcoming.
Great fish! They even have poutine and hand made beef burgers for non fish eaters!
Its fine
We ordered through uber eats, and our food arrived cold, and pathetic looking. The fries were obviously cooked a few hours before, and the fish literally had no batter on it - just flour and then fried. Ive been coming to this place since I was a kid, and have always had amazing food - Ive been bragging about it to my husband for years. We finally order it, and then this?! Yuck. You guys just lost a life long customer.
Good ol fish and chips ! Really good gravy !! Umm ya I dont wait to eat to take pics of my food
Was nice, good old school atmosphere.
This place is awesome! I dont eat fish, and this place has so much to offer! The fries & poutine are great, the burgers are outstanding, and the milkshakes are great as well! Would definitely recommend this!
Chicken strips are good but the fish is fresh but not seasoned
Used to be good.. now the prices are outrageous for the little thin sliced fish, that you get. Place is old and dingy. Not worth it.. hardly any fish and mostly batter.
Not impressed. Fish ok. Burger - of decent meat although it was cold. Fries??? -do they change the oil every 8000km?
This restaurant serves poutine and burgers now. My burger was pretty decent and poutine was . Havent tried their fish and their wings yet, so cant comment on how it tastes. Wheelchair accessible entrance. Lots of free parking in the plaza. TorontoLocalGuide review.
I asked to buy just a halibut fish and they refused to take my order. Said I had to order halibut and fish. Their prices are expensive. I ended up buying cod and it was terrible! I will NOT buy from these people again !!!!
Becareful of this place they keep their chips in boxes lining the hallway and down the stairs leading to the washrooms. Dirty, open air and germs all able to fall on the chips is this what you would want to eat. I dont think so.
We thought we would give this little restaurant a chance based purely off the fact its still in business and Ive been in this neighborhood for over a decade. What a mistake! The inside of this restaurant looks like it hasnt been refreshed since the 1960s, and smells like a combination of dirty fish fryer, body odor, and stale cigarettes. The fish was obviously frozen but the batter wasnt. This resulted in a freshly fried chunk of frozen fish which was clearly overcooked and resembled something from the grocery store. The french fries were actually FROZEN. These people actually bought frozen fries at No Frills and are serving them with the fish! The server although very polite lied to us when I suggested they should start serving fresh fries and told me The fries are made fresh. Any idiot can identify frozen machine cut fries from a bag. The bill for two poorly cooked small pieces of fish, two cans of pop, a small plate of onion rings and some frozen fries from No-Frills was nearly $40 Canadian. AVOID THIS PLACE.
terrible food and disgusting tarter sauce , would never eat there again
Been there a couple times under the current (Asian) management. The fish and fries seem pretty okay. The tartar sauce is good. The service is good, and the staff are friendly. The gravy makes the fries go down faster, but it has an odd smell to it. If the new Big Boss (baby) is there when you are, see if you can squeeze his cheek! :-)
