2646 Islington Ave, Etobicoke, ON M9V 2X5, Canada
Local chain spot offering vegetarian Indian fare with generous à la carte meals, a buffet & sweets.
Today we ordered one plate channa bhtura . We got two mosquitoes inside bhatura . When we complained to the owner , she spoke too rudely . I’m adding the pictures for you guys .We never recommended this place for eat. Totally garbage place .
Visited here today for parantha’s and the experience was awesome. Really good, tasty and freshly prepared parantha’s. Had Aloo and Gobhi with Masala tea.
Good place for a quick bite. We tried their fresh sugarcane juice which was for 6$
The food was amazing, the cashier was polite. I was a little bit confused but she helped me with deciding the best dish for me as per my taste. must go if you wanna have a good time with your family.
It offers Indian vegetarian meals, snacks and sweets. The prices are reasonable as it’s a self serve restaurant with modest dining experience. I enjoy their thali which is served with puri, naan or roti. It includes garden salad and pickles plus 5 options to select from their menu. The place is reasonably clean and well kept with Indian music playing in the background. The presentation of food and sweets is professionally done. The crew is polite and friendly offering efficient service. A good place to dine if you’re looking for something vegetarian but don’t want to break your bank.
Worst Manchurian we ever had the taste is like pathetic No one can even imagine. And moreover when we said this to the lady at counter she denied to admit which seems very rude rather than she started given excuses we only used prepared sauces. Overall I strongly recommend to all don’t waste your money on pathetic food and place.
I tried many items but the only one I liked was dahi puri, other then that I was not at all satisfied with anything. Service is good friendly staff. But they should work on keeping the taste up. Huge menu and it's not expensive.they can try to to improve the taste and increase the price too .
Brar’s Pakwan, Islinton Avenue is a small , laid back eatery unlike its parent Buffet bar. To me this place is more of take out even thoug it has seating . Place and people dont take overall very seriously as it appears. The thali options are still most economical in the GTA although i sometimes feel the curries and sabjis are leftovers from buffet restaurant. Chaats are just ok although paapdi chaat has been consistent. Fresh paranthas are of nice quantity amd taste good. Sweets are regular but for jalebis ( ghee made) depending on when its made. Service is average
Very good customer service. The lady on the cash is really helpful. Food is good as well.
Amazing food and excellent service
Ive been coming to Brars (now known as Indian Pakwan - same owners) since I was in a stroller - one of my favourite places for Indian food and sweets. All vegetarian options, and always so tasty. Me and my family come at least a few times a month!
I went to eat dinner with family excellent food remind me moms taste from back home love the food. Worth trying
Amazing food and best service by gurpreet di
Thanks alot for your great service and food especially gurpreet didi for the great customer service. They waited for us till 10:30 pm to finish our food in peace even though they are closed at 10 pm.
Definitely 5 star for the food service price and atmosphere.
Best Indian food anywhere. I moved away but still dream of it.
Gurpreet ji you are best!!! Place is worth trying !!!
Amazing excellent food!! I came here and ordered 2 veg thalis and 1 Chana bhatura. The food was excellent and the spices and everything were perfect. The shai paneer is the best veg I recommend everyone to come and try it.
The Shahi Paneer at Indian Pakwan is absolutely delicious. The paneer is soft and soaks up all the wonderful flavors of the creamy, rich gravy. The sauce is made with cream, giving it a smooth, slightly sweet taste with just the right amount of spices. It goes perfectly with naan or rice, making it a comforting and satisfying meal. The portion size is amazing, and the presentation is nice too. The staff are friendly and make sure you have everything you need.
Best restaurant in Etobicoke
Greasy furniture full of oil, which will result in poor hygiene in food
Great Indian food Must try channa bhatura. Food
We needed a washroom for my 3 year old and we didnt have our wallets with us because wed dashed out of the car. The lady here was very kind and let us use the washroom no problem which was a relief after the Tim Hortons was only a drive thru and the bank said they had no washroom. So we are very grateful! 5 stars!
Today, I came everything was wonderful and great service. I recommend to everyone!
Their aalo samosas are the bestttt!
Hlo everyone don t go there .They are giving garbage food .New management is so bad they don t care what they are providing to customers. We were so disappointed my son is sick after eating garbage food from there.
Tasty Chama buura
I really enjoyed my visit to Indian Pakwan. Excellent selection of Indian sweets and variety of food. Cholle Bature were fresh and hot. Highly Recommended.
The food is absolutely delicious. Malai kofta in particular is one of the best I have ever had. All are reasonably priced as well. One of the best places for vegetarian, Indian food.
Amazing test I can never forget this test .
Excellent food! I ordered 2 thalis with 2 garlic naans super tasty and delicious!!
Food is super good in terrs of hygiene, taste and quality. Must trychole, daal makhni with lacha paratha and daal. Will keep visiting often at this place. This was our first time here and we tried the masala dosa ans chat papri. They were sooo soooo delicious and the portions were really well sized! Price and taste wise this place is excellent.
Really nice food i love their chana shahi paneer and dal. Highly recommended must go everyone
Amazing service and most flavorful food in Toronto. Even though it was over the hours after 10:00 pm they went out of the way to make the food ready for us. Must try restaurant in Etobicoke
Eveything is soo good. Must visit place. Good food in less price.
Never visit again restaurant. Worst quality food i ever tasted in my life. Staff were so frustrated and owners was yelling at them. I cant sit there and have my lunch. Worst place to go in
Bad customer service .Zero quality food
Service is very quick and food is amazing
I went here today with all my friends. The food was absolutely amazing and I loved their shai paneer & palak paneer it was so good. And their naans are so fresh and soft. I would definitely recommend!!
Don t waste your money for such food that can make you sick soon
Great customer service , courteous staff , everything in the menu I tried was delicious specially the thali !! Food
Very bad quality. They are playing with customers
I never get this type of service in my life .Just got garbage food .Never waste your money here
Vegetarian options: Best taste. Reminded me of my Mother s hand cooked food. Thank you so much for keeping up the quality and taste of your food. Food
Food was wow... freshness...taste ....Indian Pakistani mom taste ...takes back to childhood...no Xtra oil ... spice combination great ... service n ambienceis like sitting home......go n try please ...
Best Indian samosa I ever tried. The red sauce was awesome
Amazing menu and amazing service
Today, I went to the restaurant and drank the mango lassi it was so good it s definitely a must try. The Chana bhatura was so nice the chana were fresh and super tasty reminded me of the taste of Chana from Indian street food. Definitely recommend this restaurant.
Im from fiji island and Im visiting Toronto for the first time and one of my friend recommended me to try indian pakwan in Islington. The best vegetarian indian food. Ive ever tried in my life. The best part was the garlic Naan it was so real its not like other Naan that stretch like rubberbands. The Naan was super soft and garlicky and full of taste. And cooked properly.
Everything is amazing, reasonable price fresh food must visit
Chana butra testy
Excellent Service, good food
This place is garbage, we order, munchurian, chai, bhel puri. It took so long just to get bad food, they also spelt special, they spelt it like this (sepecial) which made me laugh, people there are very rude. Lastly food there felt expired, like the texture was not good. Chai had no taste like it was water. And munchurian had too much color, in it it also had a very bad taste, we wasted so much money ($50) just to throw it all away in the garbage.
Today my wife buy samosa from there. That was uncooked from inside. The base of samosa was too thick.
Although the eatery makes a decent business, the place is in shambles and begging for a renovation. Vegetarian options: This place offers only vegetarian options and there is a variety to choose from. Parking: Getting a spot to park can be challenging sometimes. The entire parking lot is riddled with potholes. Be prepared to risk damage to your vehicle while entering/ exiting the Plaza parking lot. The ramps leading in and out to the street from/to the parking lot are dangerously steep and broken at the same time.
The food was great and fast service
Incredible restaurant. Went here randomly and was surprised how good the food is. Highly recommend!
Great food. Good service. Better Value. @krishna thanks for showing me this spot
Wanted to try out this new spot as I drove by it the other week. The paneer tikka roll was incredible! Good value as well - items are well priced and good portion sizes. I d definitely go back.
Great food and service!
Place is good not that good ambiance. But food is good.
Sukhbir and Parveen make this place special. Great hosts with great food
Worst food in the town. I will recommend don t go there. It s better to stay hungry.
Okay Okay
I went there for dinner and the place was completely empty except for one family. We ordered 2 thalis of $13.55 including tax. We had 6 curries to select from. Thalia comes with 3 sabji, rice, sweet 2 naans and some 2-3 spoons of salad. The quantity of everything was very little; 1 malai kofta, 2 panner in Palak paneer, 3 panner in Mattar panner. The naan were good and freshly made. Main thing, Gulab jamun were made of sooji(no authentic taste) and tasted weird. To wrap it up, not worth $13.55.
Best Indian Food Ever! They provide vegan food, too! Ive been coming to this restaurant since I was a child. Their food is consistently great :) Also, CHERRY AUNTIE at the front desk is amazing! Shes so nice and always makes sure her customers are happy. Thank you for being the best, Cherry Auntie Ji :)
Please dont atleast sell stale food. Any one can compromise on taste at once but not on quality and freshness...hope you will improve
The place is close to my heart coz my wife isnt in Canada for few weeks and this is my go-to restaurant for my dinner, totally love their food, taste and welcoming teammates specially Ritu. She takes extra effort in understanding what you need and offers variety which I havent seen at any other restaurant. All the best Ritu for doing great work and keep feeding us amazing delicacies of Indian kitchen. God bless!
Best Indian food here They have so many verities of vegetables Their pakora kadhi and dal makhaniii on next level Helping and friendly staff Served with gratitude Thank you very much for an amazing food and service
Food is tasty even though the restaurant is rather small and claustrophobia inducing. I wish they would serve saag 7 days a week instead of just on Tuesdays. Their thalis are the best deal for vegetarians. We got a selection of 3 vegetables, 1 naan, rice, desert and salad.
This restaurant has literally gone to dogs . Ordered a gobi paratha meal for eat-in a fortnight ago and was served a aaloo paratha without any information and the serving / kitchen staff was unapologetic. Reason given was that they were out of cauliflower (gobi). Today ordered a gobi paratha meal again and this time was served without the white butter. Again no information / explanation. This is typical Punjabi way of dealing with customers. Have been coming to this restaurant for over 15 years but the service levels are pathetic now and food quality also has gone down. Last time ever to this restaurant and would actively dissuade people in my group to come here.
Great Food! Lovely service by Harman!
Great-tasting Punjabi dishes at reasonable prices.
the buffet is great thali is cost efficient
This place is really a nice place to dine in and for take out. Normally the parking is hastle free but sometimes you may encounter some difficulty in rush hours. This place is good especially for veg lovers as they offer great options to choose from. They also offer mouth watering sweets. Their one such especiality is Kaju Barfi. Customer service is par excellence. Vegetarian options: They also offer tiffin service.

We ordered Manchurian. They tasted stale and were so hard as if they were made of chicken. We couldnt eat and had to garbage two plates of manchurian :( I do not recommend this place. Also there is weird smell at the restaurant.
Foods are amazing
Best tiffin service very cooperative staff I am thankful I got this opportunity to start delicious tiffin from this restaurant
I am taking tiffin service from them for at least 6 months now. The quality is always at the top.
Best food for reasonable price
We visited on Saturday March 4 around 4 pm time. I was just hungry and we never been there before. We ordered dahi puri and chana bhatura. Food was delicious. And portion was was good enough. Very nice clean eatery. Staff was good pleasant. We will definitely visit again . We also ordered faluda and pakode to take home .
Prefer to takeout than eat in. Anyways we always order vegetable thali and its very filling and decent. Of course I didnt grow up on all the dishes nor know the names of all of them but the Palak paneer is a must. I usually just point to what I like and its all good.
Best vegetarian thali in town!!
excellent food, fresh, tasty , reasonable,

This place is great!Atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff is also really friendly. Food is pretty good, some Italian classics and some twists. Experience is that come with an empty stomach and a full wallet .
i ordered paneer curry with chapatis it was tooo delicious I will give you 10 out of 8
I ve been coming to this restaurant since i was a kid. It s one of my favourite indian restaurants to go. If you want authentic indian food, this is the place to go to.
I have been going to this restaurant since it opened. I still go there currently and my family and I absolutely love it. 10/10 would recommend!
Amazing food. Perfect for authentic Indian cuisine! The owners are very nice and friendly.

Delicious food. The perfect taste.
Perfect taste with great customer service
Best food, best service
Fantastic food that reminds me of home. Highly recommend the Chana, Samosa and Dahi Bhalla.
Great experience
Good customer service..best food in a area..
I had a veg thali. One of the best experience i had.
Had Chana bhatura. Tastes okay.
Best thali in Toronto
I love all the tiffin facilities they are giving...its value for money and clean...so if you are looking for a regular food like home...so you can definitely try Brar pakwan ..its awesome
I recently purchased two orders of sholey bhutrey from this place, the price was high and the quality was low. All bhutrey were not completely fried, seems somewhat raw. Did not enjoy the food at all and will not return back to this place.
Very Delicious, decent price and portion. Polite employe.
Great thali
Good food, the restaurant has a simple dining room. Parking is limited and inside the restaurant is dark. The owners are friendly and try to please you.
Casual Indian lunch. Staff are very nice. The dishes had some winners. My favorite was the chickpea dish. Looked like Chana Masala. The mango lassi was also really good.
I had ordered veg thali and samosas but it was awful. The peas used in samosa as well as sabzi was contaminated. They smelled staple, also rice were undercooked. Horrible food, it was waste of money. Zero stars and no recommendation at all.
Vegetarian options: Very good Chili paneer
Quality of food has gone down definitely. Prices have soared. Service is also missing. Not even, napkins are provided anymore.
Lovely
Im picky about Indian food here. I know some like it hot and greasy, but not me. This has homestyle food not too rich or spicy. And they have a variety of food to pick from.
Vegetarian options: Ceiling is leaking, bathroom door has stuff piled up in front, creating fire hazard, male bathroom door knb does not work, you can get locked in, also toilet knob broken does not flush
I tried malai kofta and garlic naan here and i am impressed by their fast service and quality food
We had veg thali for 1 day, they put karela in shimla mirch. After tasting we realised shimla was bitter in taste to hide that they added karela.
Always a great food experience here at Brars. Been going for over 17 years! Always solid selection and fresh!
Very tasty tiffin and cooperative staff
Bad food, everything was too sweet. Chole were definitely a day old and Manchurian was the worst I had till date, and how can someone mess up a simple chai? brar used to be a one of my favourite places but due to recent downgrade of quality I don t think I will be coming back any time soon.
Got makhani, shahi paneer, and palak paneer in the thali- very yummy!! The naan was also freshly made, so soft and delicious! Would return again
They really need to work on their food authenticity and quality. Bhature were good but the Channa was bland. No taste, flavour and they were actually chole not even channa. We ordered aloo paratha and samosa and the potato filling was also raw and bland. The only item which was consumable was Mango lassi. Never going back.
I ate Channa bhatura and sweets their presentation and taste was so low grade, never will be recommended for these items.
Food is good... sitting not ok
Food was not fresh I took a veggie Thali and I didn t enjoy att all
Ordered vege biryani three times in the recent past. The first time, it was okay. The second time was very nicely made, which was my expectation from the past. Third time, no paneer at all ( it is made with chili paneer, sauted green bell peppers and onions with rice). Bell pepper and onion were not cooked at all (onion was quite strong because of that). For all this, the place was not busy at all! I dont understand the customer service. I will visit this place again! Horrible!
Today weather was good so I thought to buy some samosa and pakoda But when i came home and was about to eat my 2lb pakodas in them i got 1lb oil and 1lb pakoda It was terrible experience And I think they want to serve oil but mistakenly added samosa in it It was soo so much oily Thank god i have my health card with me so i am able to get my treatment right away if i got any heart problems or high cholesterol So my suggestion to public is if you don t have health card or enough money for your treatment please don t visit here And last but not least if u are cooking in home and u don t have vegetable oil u can visit them and get samosa and pakoda and u can squeeze them and u can get enough oil for your one month cooking at home by purchasing just 2lb pakodas and just 4-5 samosas
Been coming to this place since I was a little kid and honestly the food is not good anymore. It s too spicy, doesn t taste good, and the overall quality has dropped, while the prices have sky rocketed. $1 for a samosa? It used to be 2 or 3 for 1! What happened? The malai Kofta used to be the best sadly not anymore. I can name other places in Toronto that have surpassed Brar s standards. Such a shame for a classic and homely place that was close to my heart. Service is always good however, but the food quality is just awful lately.
The veg Thali was on a new level. So good!!! I m not even vegetarian. I Highly recommend this place. Food
Not good. Chai was literally colored water. Chole was not fresh. Don t even get me started on Idli. Would not come back.
Good food though heavy on the oil, especially with the dry vegetables. But overall tasty. Ambience can do better, loud music blaring and furniture etc can do better. Place looks outdated. Offers vegetarian food only . Come for the food and dont get your hopes too high on service or ambience.
Love the food and service!!
Food is not tasty. I take veg thali. But its not worthy..
Did my breakfast, the food was awesome,
sorry for bad review . but samosas not good no taste.
Such a worst experience, I went to get some sweets but they are selling sweets which are 1 week older and other food smells like garbage.. I would never go back to this again. Waste of money and time. There price is low but no one needs it when ur food is garbage, so fix ur food then people will pay at ur store too
10/10, pissed myself, also the food was trash and the tea tasted like piss, would go again
Loved this place for 10-15yrs but both service and food quality have declined. Especially service. If more than 4 customers walk in, the staff cannot handle it & everyone will be served VERY slowly. I had to wait 25min for a thali (?) - this should be the fastest serving item on the menu. And either they are serving old food more often or adding more oil. It doesn t feel healthy.
Great dine in and catering was excellent super tasty food Food
Food is not as good as it was before. During my visit last Friday evening there was only couple of customers in the premises. It seems Brar pakwan is now losing its glory.
Really bad customer service they way she talked to us is really disappointed... I will never ever visit brar pakwan again.. Food
Food from Brar is always consistent and tastes good.
ordered Chola bhatura, Samosa, and tea. Chola bhatura was OK. Tea was really bad no flavor. It was like half boiled and no tea flavour at all but the Samosa was the highlight. It was horrible extra oily triple fried, or double fried could taste stale oil in the filling had not taste after that I ve been feeling nauseous.
Food is okay. Consider their curries as home made curries, nothing special in them.
I ordered take out and they made me wait an hour to collect my tali, instead serving a giant party in the other room ahead of me. They could have given me 2 min to get my take out ahead of them......
This place hasnt changed since I came to this country as a kid. Very nostalgic whenever I come here. Get their legendary Malai Kofta. You wont be disappointed.
