Overall a good experience. The house salad was overly salty but everything else was quite good. My kid almost swam with the koi 😅

We placed an order and waited 40 minutes for one “light” sushi set ($28) and one Chikara dinner set ($30), all while we were starving, only to be served incredibly disappointing food. House Salad The house salad that came with each course was overly salty. “Light” Sushi Set - The sushi rice was overly dense and lacked the sweet and tangy flavor of sushi vinegar. The salmon was fine, but the other fish were not fresh and had a strong fishy smell. - The plate seemed unwashed, which I have attached a photo…. Chikara Dinner - The Japanese fried chicken was soggy, neither crispy nor flavorful. - The potato croquette had an excessively thick coating, which overpowered the filling.

I really didn’t have a nice exquisite japanese food experience like most of the reviews states and so didn’t my colleague. We both had the steak teriyaki bowl that disn’t have much flavor and texture wasn’t appealing at all. Kiao soup and salad were ok and service very quick

One of my favourite Japanese restaurants in the city. It’s authentic and the owners take pride in the quality of their dishes. I had the appetizer tasting menu and each dish was so tasty. I’ve had their larger tasting menu in the past, and the quality and taste is consistent. Want recommendations to other Toronto restaurants? Follow my instagram :) @thyme.4.food

So, you want to eat Japanese food...so then go to Ginko!!! This is REAL Japanese food, unlike a lot of the AYCE places. I been eating here for around 30 years or more, back when it was in the Cambridge Hotel. Chef Kimura's commitment to providing excellent food and ambience is second to none. I even had the pleasure of having Ginko cater the sushi for my wedding... boy, was that a mistake...I thought I would have left overs...none to be found, my wife's side are Italian and they ate most of it...lol. Not sure there's a better Japanese restaurant around. Authentic food at the highest quality, hopefully you will try and be able to taste the difference!!! It's definitely not our last time... we'll be back!!! Repeat visit, same results.... Great service and delicious, highly quality food!! If you appreciate and like high-quality, authentic Japanese food, try Ginko!!!

Stunning quality all around coupled with a great atmosphere. The sashimi tasted incredibly fresh, and as a result, the sushi pizza I had was a delight. However, the standout from my meal was the chikara combination dinner! The chicken karaage had an absolutely beyond perfect texture and coating, and the teriyaki beef was not only melt-in-your-mouth rich, but the in-house teriyaki sauce was some of the best I’ve ever tasted. The only thing I tried that I would pass on next time is their momiji cheesecake, which I found too dense, very eggy and not particularly my style. I would say Ginko is definitely worth the price tag, and is now my favourite Japanese restaurant in the outer Mississauga area of Toronto!

This is the most authentic Japanese restaurant we tried in the entire North American, you can feel that they really make the food with their soul, we missed usuzukuri the other day and asked if the chef can make it cause it s not on the menu, chef Kimura made it for us. We have been here to dine every other week.

Delicious food, excellent service and a very Japanese ambiance. I highly recommend this restaurant but be aware that it is located in the Delta Hotel. There is no door to the street. You must park in the parking of the hotel, go through the lobby, all the way to the back to get to the restaurant. Also I recommend you make a reservation because its a small restaurant and it fills up very fast.

If we visit the area again, we will definitely come back! If you have the time and youre near Toronto airport, try to check them out. Its worth every penny that we paid for. If you go there, try any chef special for the day. We made our reservation online. We ordered the 40th Anniversary Special and Vegetable Curry. We were only there for a light meal. It is inside the Delta Marriot property. Make sure to ask for parking validation before you leave. Vegetarian options: Japanese Curry

Theyve been open for 40 years and their consistent shows. Enter through the hotel parking lot, and get ticket validation so your parking is free. Reasonable priced, can eat for $30-$50/person

We went to Ginko Japanese Restaurant for dinner a few days ago. It wasn t actually busy so, basically, we just walked in, although we had a reservation. We were welcomed by our hostess who was very friendly and diligent, just like the service in general. We ordered MISO SOUP, GYOZA, LAMB MISO, ROYAL YORK ROLL, SPIDER ROLL and A LA CARTE SASHIMI (Tuna, Scallop, Octopus, Butterfish), together with a bottle of SAKE. The food was very good, everything tasted fresh and the portions were what you would normally expect. Arguably, it may seem a little pricey but, the quality is worth it. Also, they do validate your parking ticket which is pretty convenient.

Quite a legit Japanese restaurant. Close to Pearson Airport, so it s a good pre-flight meal. Way better price to value ratio compared to restaurants at the airport. I got the Tanoshimi set with chawanmushi. Desserts were options of sakura mochi crepe, kanten fruit jelly, annin doufu. They all tasted really nice.

Ginko is authentic Japanese. Chef Kimura was the first to bring Japanese food to Toronto long before sushi was even popularized. His success story is truly encouraging; the ideal of the Canadian dream: have a vision (in his case, start a Japanese restaurant), work hard (saving his pennies through his landscaping business), and finally realizing that dream (the restaurants he owns now). If the local palate has changed to crave sushi, its because of the pioneering work Chef Kimura 40 years ago. Treat yourself to the authentic flavours of Japan before you try other establishments. You will have a good benchmark as to what the flavours of each item on the menu should taste like, and what quality is. Thank you Chef Kimura for all of your hard work over the past 40 years!

I came here on April 17th, right when the restaurant opened and ordered a Chrisashi Don. Based on the reviews I had high expectations but was completely disappointed by the fish selection, cut size and unsatisfactory tomago. The tomago is clearly defrosted from frozen as I can still taste the ice. The fish selection is inferior for the price, and the cuts are thin. The only upside was fast service by the wait staff but the chef and kitchen need to improve.

Great food! Ive always wanted to stop into Ginko but with its slightly out of the way location I never got to it. I was out towards the airport the other day and decided to stop in for dinner. It is inside the Delta hotel and you can park for free. Go through the parking gate and get a ticket, bring the ticket with you to the restaurant and they will give you a voucher to use in the gate on the way out. Very traditional setting, we were greeted at the door by a woman in a beautiful kimono. Neat koi pond right at the door. The food was fantastic! I actually had 2 rounds of the Hotate Gai, which is a cooked scallop appetizer with a ginger sauce that was SO GOOD. The sushi rolls were well rolled, the avocado in the salmon/avocado rolls was perfectly ripe. Cant wait to return! Will definitely return anytime Im near the airport.

We ordered an assortment of sushi and cooked Japanese dishes from Ginko for a special occasion and the experience was perfect from the moment I called the restaurant. Erin Kimura, the manager, was very considerate to meet my budget and taste specifications. The menu was customized, had great variety and was plentiful not to mention outstanding in flavour and presentation. The food was portioned as dinners for two (as requested) and exquisitely wrapped in a furoshiki. If you are looking for delicate sushi and masterfully created authentic Japanese food, Ginko is the place to go for eat in or take away. Thank you to Chef Kimura and Erin.

We decided to try out this omakase course on a whim. We were suppose to give 24hr notice but they were nice enough to accommodate us with such late notice. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. There was a lot of variety in the food. Pudding, sea bass, duck breast, Lamb chops were all outstanding. This would easily been on top of my recommendation list for sushi until we actually tasted the sushi itself. Sadly the sushi was not very good, below the quality of a good AYCE place. Which was a shame since Id recommend this place for omakase otherwise. Perhaps we were partially at fault since we gave such a late notice but that doesnt explain why the rest of the omakase tasted so good. Maybe we went on an off day so give it a shot.

Service, decor and atmosphere were all fine but I was really disappointed with the quality of sushi. The ume shiso and spicy tuna rolls and uni and scallop sashimi were tasty but I wasnt impressed with most of the nigiri or sashimi selections. Ginko used to be my favorite sushi place when i worked near Pearson airport. I loved their lunch and dinner menus including sashimi, sushi tempura and bento boxes. I went there recently for my family gathering....still servers were super kind and did their best to look after their customers but it took so long time to get our food (i understood that it can take time to prepare Sakura but shouldnt take an hour). Sashimi quality was not like before (size and shape are not like typical Japanese sashimi, more likely just square Lego blocks) and i do not like to have cucumber and lime slices in between sashimi. Hope i picked a wrong-busy day to visit (Saturday dinner but Ginko was not fully packed) and things are much better in normal time.

Not sure if this is normal but the onigiri I bought from there was the tuna mayo and the salmon. It seems they know how to cook rice but quality control might be lacking. The tuna mayo onigiri was good but nothing phenomenal, it seems they might have been produced for the novelty and quantity rather than quality. I would say that the convenience store ones I had from Lawsons in japan were better. The salmon one is why I this review isnt 3 . That thing was bad. Just bad. The rice wasnt cooked it was still hard, the salmon might have been burnt at the very least it was overcooked. I would dare say the they forgot to add mirin, rice vinegar or seasonings of any sort. It was just a sad undercooked but also burnt, overpriced rice balled into seaweed. I didnt go to 1 as I would like to believe that there was just a terrible management decision to crank out quantity over quality for Anime North. If Im on town again, Ill consider trying this place out, not during a convention. I hope to see that they can at least beat Lawsons or 7 Eleven on the topic of rice quality.

Ordered delivery from here - and oh my - very expensive and very disappointing. The beef teriyaki meal looked like (and tasted worse) than an airline meal. GO ELSEWHERE

A lovely place in the west end for omakase. The $120 price tag was reasonable, the interior was traditional Japanese, the service was fantastic and the food was above average. It is located inside the Delta hotel and it has free parking. If you are in the west end of Toronto, this is probably one of the best Japanese restaurant that you must try.

This is a great place for high quality sushi. The price reflects the quality so be prepared to spend more than usual. Had a really nice dinner here with my wife. This is a great place for a date night or when you want to spend a little extra on VERY good sushi. The meal was excellent and I am so glad my wife found this place. We came because we could not find any other place with proper Gommae (spinach salad) anywhere in the city. The qualify of the fish is top notch. It is reflected in the price, and absolutely worth paying for. There was a good variety of appetizer share plates, dinner boxes, individual nigiri pieces and combinations. It is a smaller menu, but I think everyone will be able to find something they like. They also do the Nigiri properly, with a little Wasabi. But they do it right, the proper amount of Wasabi so you get a little of the heat to support and enhance the fish. We made a reservation and they sat us right in front of the sushi bar so I could watch the chef work. And it was masterful. It was also fun watching him get mad when he opened 3 Avcoados and was mad at the first two as I guess they were not to his liking. The restaurant itself is inside a hotel so hidden but they validate parking which is good. And the washrooms are outside the restaurant itself, just down the hall in the ballroom. Also the tables and chairs are a little haphazard and they had the takeout boxes all over the teppanyaki grill area. Id love to try their Teppanyaki out but need to be contacted 48hours in advance to reserve.

I called my order in and decided to drive to the hotel to pick it up, there is free parking onsite. The hotel was quiet as expected, but the restaurant was easy to find. It was nice to even visit for pick up, obviously itd be more fun to eat at the restaurant but during the pandemic it made me feel good to see a functioning restaurant and take in a bit of the atmosphere. The waitress and a young man met me at the door and brought all my food over neatly packed up. We had a pleasant chat for a few minutes about the restaurant, chef, food and Japan. The food was really tasty, and beautifully presented. Ginko seems to focus on the little details, my bento box had many components all balanced well, and all were delicious. Ill be really looking forward to come back when in-restaurant-seated service is allowed. In the meantime if you like Japanese food, Id recommend you give Ginko a try, it is a cool place, and they do the take out service well and with a smile. As I write this I realize how much I miss fine dining at restaurants this will be the first place I go once restaurants open up again...

This place has amazing food, from the chicken to the beef and especially the seafood including sushi they use super high quality ingredients and know what they re doing. While I may not like some things, the ingredients are high quality all the same and plenty of people seem to like them so with certain things they have well most even, it s a matter of taste. If I order what I like I get a fantastic meal and I know once you find something you like here that you ll love it. The only suggestion I have is to do more experiments with the menu, I ve been going here for years and it doesn t change as often, and doesn t have as many options as it could have, for example one time they made us a pork rip with miso as an experiment, and it was fantastic would like to see more creativity in the future that s all. However you should order from this place the food they have is really good so order now and they ll be very grateful and so will you!

The best Japanese sushi restaurant... hands down. I wanted to surprise my parents with some sushi and bought them the Ume platter... they are sushi snobs (lol) and they loved it. Erin is super helpful! My friends who lived and worked in Japan (they are back in toronto) were also impressed with Ginko when we had our dinner...I ordered the Ume platter, 2x tempura, spicy scallop roll and a spicy tuna roll. This was more than enough to feed 4 adults. I live DT and I will always make the drive to ginko for our sushi! Thanks ginko for being the best! Thank you Chef Kimura-san

A relative gifted us an anniversary dinner of multiple appetizers, bento boxes, and dessert. Everything was packaged and presented nicely and the food was delicious. More authentic and traditional than many other Japanese restaurants, we really enjoyed some of the unique dishes like the tsukemono box and the choices in the vegetarian and Chikara bento boxes and dessert combo. What a feast. We highly recommend.

Ive eaten in twice and ordered for take out twice from Ginko over the past 6 weeks! There are so many positive things to say about this restaurant. Lets start with the family owned business, the manager and the head chef, the Kimuras; amazing service, always friendly, positive, polite and accommodating. The food is authentic in the truest sense, there is Japanese cuisine here which I could only find in Japan or perhaps in some exclusive restaurants. The taste and presentation is exquisite. They have a tatami room and teppanyaki table for special occasions. Some of the signage and decor was hand crafted and there are authentic artifacts from Japan including Samurai armour, wedding kimonos, sake barrels and a Jizai-Kagi (hanging water kettle) which was the only thing left from their family home after the Tsunami hit. Theres a cute little Koi pond for some lucky kids to feed the fish. Definitely one of my favourite spots in Toronto now!

We went to Ginko for their 7-course Omakase menu, it was an amazing experience. All 7 courses are incredibly presented and extremely tasty. We can see the Chef had put in so much care in each of the course. The staff - Kanae is the one who took care of our table. She is very attentive. Kudos to Ginko. Chef Kimura even came out to make sure we enjoyed the courses. We cannot wait to go back to try their regular menu.

I think they need a real sushi chef ..in order to bring up the quality as the level of japanese food has been extremely improved in recent years with influx of higher end edomae sushi restaurants. GINGKO IS ONE OF THE OLDER AND TRUE JAPANESE RESTAURANTS IN THE GTA and would disappointing to see it decline because of a lower quality product

I highly recommend it I ate tuna/uni/unagi/futomaki The unit price per piece is around 5,000 won, excluding futomaki. 1) Futomaki: I know what it means, but I never thought that a Japanese restaurant that also serves famous omakase would not include raw fish at all... Its just thick kimbap with cucumber/burdock/spicy meat. 2) Tuna: It was ordinary, but the amount of rice was too much and it was tough. 3) Unagi: At least edible 4) Uni: I spit it out while eating it because of the fishy smell. I like you so much... Anyway, the price is neither cheap nor expensive, but it was a moment that reminded me of E-mart sushi. Seeing how delicious it is, if you pay $50 for Canadian Korean middle-class sushi and eat lunch omakase, you will be so touched that you will collapse in your seat, shake your hands, and cry.

Unfortunately we visited during covid-19 pandemic, we couldnt get the full experience. However, the food remain top notch, authentic with attentive service and personal touch. Its a humble establishment that often get overshadowed by cheap, Chinese owned all you can eat sushi places. Unlike many excellent Japanese restaurants in downtown Toronto, this place is a lot more affordable, yet return excellent value and quality. I would recommend this place 10/10, no doubt will be me go-to place for sushi when I visit Toronto.

Everything was delicious and perfect (the salmon was mouthwatering!). We both love Japanese cuisines, and it is difficult to find good authentic Japanese food where we live. The atmosphere was peaceful and the service was courteous as well as attentive. The care they put into the meal preparation was evident.
