First time visiting yesterday- I picked up a half dozen of regular and pecan butter tarts with a bonus s mores one on the side. Overall 10/10 with the flavours, helpful service and cozy vibes- check this place out! Will be back soon!

It s not very often that I buy a convenience product and love it, but that s exactly what happened recently when I bought The Pie Commission frozen pies at Shelburne Foodland recently. flaky pastry flavourful, homemade tasting fillings packed with chunks of meat and veggies Highly recommend.

I purchased a number of pies from The Pie Commission online, checked out, and then realized I had submitted the order for pickup rather than delivery. I called The Pie Commission, got the owner on the phone quickly, and he immediately reversed the charges. Of course I filled a new order for delivery - incredibly impressive and prompt customer service, and great to be able to support a local business that is so responsive to its customers, even though it was my error.

Im a CIA trained chef who took classes under Jacques Pepin. I have a small business known for its pies among other prepared foods. When I came upon The Pie Commission I had my interest piqued with their claim their all butter crust was flakey. Upon a mission I set out to verify if their crust was truly flakey. When I walked into the shop my senses were awash with the seductive aroma of butter. I asked the young couple behind the counter what pie I should try. They both blurted out the braised beef. I graciously received my pie then sat at the window counter to enjoy. The staff directed me to the cutlery I gleefully waved off. Cutlery I scoffed as I was going full barbarian. I eventually grabbed a fork as the meat came falling out. I popped the pie out of its aluminum mold. I then flipped it over to inspect the bottom and the sides. Perfect! All golden brown. Now the test of the crust. It was as flakey that they claimed. The filling was both tasty and abundant with meat. The pie melted in my mouth. So scrumptious. I highly recommend this place. Kudos to them to offer HP Sauce and Malt Vinegar along with the standard condiments. I hope they do a short run of mincemeat with beef. Going to try to meet with the owner. Now go out and eat pie. Sorry no photos as I inhaled my pie. Nearly bit my fingers.

I dont now how I have not found this place before, as I have been searching. Went on Saturday and bought a Beef & Beer and a Lamb Curry pie straight out of the oven, and two frozen sausage rolls for another day. Ate the Lamb Curry Saturday night and the Beef & Beer today. Awesome taste. Nice pastry, tasty filling and a descent price. Will have to make a plan to get there regularly for my pie fix. Great service as well.

I ve been visiting this place for over a year and I ve loved everything that I ve tried. Highly recommend the beef n beer pie and the chicken & mushroom. The Sweet Potato masala is a great vegetarian option too. While I mostly get the savoury pies, the sweet ones are fantastic too! The staff are great and friendly! Must try! Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options are also great! Sweet potato masala - highly recommended.

3.5 stars only cause the butter tart was really good. Butter chicken pie too dry, no sauce, and was burned on the sides. No clue why there are chickpeas in it. The crust of pie is good except the burned parts. They also never seem to have jerk chicken pie whenever I call and ask.

I have always loved meat pies but these are so yummy! Im disappointed that my local stores are not selling, Loblaws on Lake shore in Port Credit use to carry them last time I checked there were only 2 in a frozen bunker so I checked at Metro by Southdown only 1 selection I wasnt interested in, I also checked The new Farm Boy on Lake shore nope not there.....Im desperate ! I need these pies in my life

The meat pies are great , lots of flavour. The best part is you know how some places make meat pies by just putting the filling into an aluminum tin and just covering the top with pastry well these guys give you a real full pastry pie & the pasty is out of this world . Now the best part the Butter tarts hands down the best one I ve ever eaten the filling is the perfect consistency and sweet but the flaky pastry is outstanding . Now I see why they won best butter tart in Ontario recently. I will definitely be back for more pies and a lot more butter tarts

The wife brought some pies to heat up for my birthday, a woman after my own heart. The pies were very flavourful with a delightfully flakey crust! We had beef n beer, and chicken mushroom.

Just to smell the freshly baked all-butter crust pie is enough to make one salivate. Been a devotee of their pies since they had a location in the west end of downtown. I mourned its loss when they closed that location, but it s worth the extra trek to Etobicoke for their store there. Even if it means driving through traffic or biking in the beating sun. All of their savoury pies are delectable, but my faves are the peppercorn beef, chicken cordon bleu, shepherd s pie, and jerk chicken. One pie is enough to satisfy even the deepest craving. Service is unfailingly friendly, courteous and efficient. Ask them for their recommendation on their pies or tips on baking them from frozen at home, and they re quick to respond with guidance. Love the Pie Commission pies. So glad we have them in the city.

First time trying this spot yesterday and I was impressed. Super friendly staff and fresh tasty pies hot and cold.

Called ahead while driving as we were on our way into TO and asked if they had any butter tarts left since they recently won the title of Best Butter Tart in Ontario. They had only 16 left and offered to box up six for us to pick up. Great customer service! Also bought a warm sausage roll. Everything was delicious!

I bought 18 Bitter tarts, they were good but very cheap om the filling for the amount of filling. Buttr tarts should be filling and not more pastry. I had a gathering of 30 people and everyone the had a buttertart had same comment great pastry but not enough filling. Food

Ive been coming here for years. Their quality has gotten better over the years! I was heartbroken when they closed their restaurant locations. Thankfully, the Etobickoe locating is still here! Their crust is second to none! Their filings, equally as great! Try a dessert pie if you still have space! Service is always excellent, the seating area is clean and inviting. They have a vegan option for those who are interested. I wish they had a meaty/ dairy free option. (Much of my family have dairy allergies) I also hope that you reopen your restaurant locations Vegetarian options: There are various vegetarian pie options. Dietary restrictions: They offer a vegan pie.

The crust is great. True butter pastry and not soggy on bottom. The filling was decent, no complaints. Unfortunately, butter tarts were sold out so I must go again.

I m not that jazzed about waspy English food but these pies were bonkers good. I loved the peppercorn roast. A small pie for 10$ seems like a lot but it was filling and delicious. Although one reviewer gripes about them using canola instead of butter or lard, the crust does not suffer and honestly who are we kidding in thinking butter or lard are healthy

Every day around noon a crazy smell makes my day at work, and today I found out where it is, I havent tried it yet, but Im sure its the best bakery in Toronto.

I come to The Pie Commission almost on a weekly basis and Ive never been disappointed by the food or the service. The friendliness of the workers is a huge plus! I would definitely recommend the Jerk Chicken and Buffalo Chicken pies, you will not be disappointed. I also love the fact that they have new flavours regularly, it definitely keeps me coming back.

I would give you 5 stars but I cannot and heres why. I read your claim that your pies contain no processed ingredients. I m sorry to say, but thats a bold faced lie.. I just had one of your fantastic pies last night and right in the ingredients list it says Canola oil .. canola oil is one of the most processed food oils available.. not only is this oil produced by heating crushed canola seeds in HEXANE solvent (hexane has neurological side effects) but they also clarify it using sodium hydroxide (extremely caustic chemical damaging to cells) Sorry to break it to you, but if you thought that wasn t bad enough, you should also be aware that canola crops are covered in an insecticide called imidacloprid , this insecticide (drug) causes insulin resistance in the liver, adipocytes and muscle tissues. Arguably, this could be one of the variables responsible for the increasing prevalence of diabetes. Other than for these reasons, I d give you 5 stars as the product is truly fantastic

Went here for the first time. The pastry is amazing. It equals the filling which is delicious. It makes you believe you are in a small country town in the U.K. Its a must have! Dont deprive your mouth and tummy of joy! You pay for what you get and I feel like Ive won the jackpot with this. We enjoyed the Braised Beef Rib pie and the Chicken Mushroom pie. Looking forward to trying more.

Great pies although getting expensive. Great for a party or a treat now ans again but if budget isnt an issue then go for it....lots of choices Parking: Small plaza for if youre there in a rush time, you may have some time to wait to get a parking spot. The ramp for the wheelchair entrance goes right under the main entry doors so watch your step...its a bigger drop than you might be prepared for

We have not been able to make it to the west end to try the pies; so when we found a selection of The Pie Commission at our local Loblaws we were ecstatic. Purchased frozen and warmed up in the oven: Wow! Wow! Wow! The pie crust is light, puffy, crispy and tastes delicious. We had the Beef n Beer pot pie, the pie was filled to the top with delicious beefy filling. So tasty and so generous in size. Will definitely be buying again, and looking forward to trying the different pies.

Fabulous little discover on my Sunday morning stroll. Had the broccoli mac & cheese as my lunch. Will come back again most certainly to try the Pulled Pork. Pie Commission pies are in a class of their own. The pastry is the best I have ever had hands down and the varieties are amazing. My favourites are Peppercorn beef and Beef and Beer but there are amazing vegetarian options too. An easy meal midweek or used to impress dinner guests on the weekend, I ve had Pie Commission in both cases. Definitely a Toronto gem.

I am very fussy about pie dough and the Pie Commission does not disappoint! Exceptionally flaky crust and delicious fillings inside. We love it for a quick cottage meal with a side salad and guests are all happy after the perfect comfort food. Pepper beef is top of our list but you really cant go wrong with any of the selections.

I always wanted to try this place but it was far so couldn t yet! BUT i did get a frozen chicken mushroom pie from Metro. And trust me it was really really good. It was so buttery and flaky. It also had really good amount of chicken in it. Felt a little bland but totally enjoyed with hot sauce. Excited to try other flavours from their shop.

I have tried at least 6 different producers products but those of The Pie Commission take the ... pie! Exceptional quality - flaky crust (dry / not soggy on the bottom when instructions followed) and fillings are juicy / saucy and truly taste. I have tried the Pulled Pork and Lamb Curry and recommend both. This pies are to die for. Great job Commissioners!

Filling and tasty

My family has LOVED these pies for years. At $10+ per small/individual pie they are NOT cheap. Today we were SO disappointed with the peppercorn beef pie. It was almost ALL fat/gristle. Every bite had to be spit out because it was so fatty and not chewable. I understand prices have risen, but this is terrible quality compared to what it was. I don t think we ll be going back.

Went to this place to try their pies. One can dine in or order for take out cold pies which can easily be warm up in the oven or frozen pies. I bought Chicken mushroom pie and Shepherds pie. The pies are 5 and can serve 2. The crust are buttery and flaky. They are so delicious and tasteful. It is worth the price. I also bought a small quiche. They also have sweet pies for dessert. I will surely go back and try their other pies.

My friend reminded me about the Pie Commission so we dropped in. Great pastry, not heavy and the pie filling was sweet, but not too sweet. A once-in-awhile treat that keeps us coming back.

Ok, this was a drive for me, scarborough to etobicoke and back. Heard good things about the pies. Drove out, got 6 pies , (the girls on the desk were so nice, very helpful)...had the roast beef and peppercorn last night after a looonggggg day, just did not feel like cooking. O. M.G. just awesome. Flavorful, u can see and better yet Taste the quality, filling. Going to try the rest of them and go for delivery next time. This shall become a staple in my freezer! This place is seriously good. Im British and frankly I miss the tradition of English savoury pies. These are, without a doubt, the best Ive had in Canada and Ive been here 40 years. Really, really good. And every pie varient has a very unique character. Im a cook myself, and Im impressed. I now buy a batch every week. Thanks you folks, keep it up. My only regret is that they no longer make the beef and stilton pie, which was a real winner.

Awesome pies

Ive been buying Pie Commission Pies for a few years now. Even when they closed up their Dundas West location Id make the extra drive from downtown to the Queensway outlet. They have gotten more expensive (as most things have) but something has changed. They seem to be much more pastry heavy and filling less so and the pastry itself is not as flakey (rather dry and heavy) now. Im going to have to go back to baking my own home made pies as I just cant justify the travel time and price for a pie that just isnt so good anymore. Also the symbols on the top of the pie are often times wrong for what the contents are. Sorry guys!

I absolutely love the meat and. Dessert pies from pie commission. My all time favourite is beef and beer but I ve had many others that are truly great. The pastry is so amazing. Flaky and buttery. Recently I had the key lime mini pie as a dessert - highly recommend. You won t be disappointed. You can get hot ready to eat pies or cold and frozen pies you can bring home and bake when you re ready. Staff are always great when I go in. This has to be the most dried out pie Ive ever eaten! Great if you love pie crust. The butter chicken had no sauce and the chicken was extremely dry. AND chickpeas! On what planet does butter chicken have chickpeas in it? Maybe include sauce packets with the pies? Or some kind of gravy.... Ill stick to my $1.99 Swanson meat pies. Thanks.

The service is super friendly and efficient. The fries are SPECTACULAR, fresh cut!! I enjoyed a very filling pulled pork mac n cheese. They didnt cheap out with filling the pie with mac instead of pork. It was a full meal in a pie. Delicious, quality ingredients. If you cant make it out to the shop, you can purchase their pies st select locations.
