Absolutely EXCELLENT English style restaurant. Classy, fun, cozy and by far some of the best food available in the City. Even the simpler items are exquisite. And I never knew I loved lemon pepper spices until I tried their lemon pepper fries. Best FRIES in the city even. Couldn’t recommend enough
The service is what sets Henry VII’s apart. My buddy and I regularly only have 30 mins to pop in to grab a pint and a quick bite. Despite being busy they save us a spot at the bar and have food ready when we arrive. Truly outstanding and appreciated. On top of that: live music, a cheery atmosphere, great beers and daily specials. Last note: their house hot sauce is very hot - you’ve been warned!
I met a friend at this pub, chosen randomly because it was near the subway station. It turnes out to have the best wings - half price that night! The Lemon-Lime Fury dry rub was the best. They make their own hot sauce which was the second hottest I've ever tried and amazing flavour - use with extreme caution. They also had a unique selection of draft beers which is a nice change from the regular. The wait staff was very friendly, provided good recommendations and was accommodating. Good location, good food, good beer, good service. We'll be back.
Cozy quiet restaurant/pub that we don't visit enough just because of work schedules but every time we do go, my wife and I are always asking ourselves why we don't get down here more often. Great food. Great service. Good music in the background that isn't playing loudly so conversation can be had at normal speaking levels. I always get the bison burger since I don't have burgers, especially a really good one, all that often. My wife experiments more with the menu. Champagne tastes on a beer budget. 😀 Parking is seldom an issue unless you go during church hours as there's one behind the building.
There are a few things that immediately differentiate a restaurant from a really good restaurant for me: the music, the quality of the napkins, and whether they provide good mustard & hot sauces. I know that's a bit silly, but I can usually tell if I'm in a place I will like by these simple identifiers. So, with that being said, Henry 8 Pub was off to a rolling start when I walked in. Marvin Gaye was gently streaming off the speakers, at a comfortable level that allowed me to hear and speak with Naomi (absolutely wonderful bar staff here). The napkin, a thick soft high quality napkin - as weird as it seems - tells me immediately that the owners have pride in their food and that I can expect a good meal. And hot damn! A Restricted R Rated Batch quantified hot sauce showed up at the table when I ordered a smoked salmon Bennie. It is outrageously delicious. The Bennie showed up quickly, but not too quickly. The chef took time and care to plate it and it looked so good. I have nothing bad to say about this pub, they have nailed everything: fantastic service, comfortable atmosphere, delicious food. I wish these guys would teach courses to other pubs and show them how to up their game. 5 stars all around.
Update: Been back to try their pork schnitzel and Hunter’s chicken. Both super flavourful! The surprise star was the potato & corn fritters that came with the chicken. Maybe Henry VIII will consider serving that as an appetizer? It will be amazing for those who just want a drink to have something small to nibble on! This is a low-key neighbourhood pub with a classic British ambiance. At the west end of Kingsway Village, this hidden gem offers a fantastic experience for those in search of good food, refreshing drinks, and a cozy atmosphere. One of the standout features of this pub is undoubtedly its exceptional food. The menu boasts an array of mouthwatering options. Their brunch hangover wrap was bursting with flavours. Paired with perfectly cooked home fries, this dish provided the ideal combination of savoury goodness and comforting textures. If you like spicy food ask for their house-made hot sauce. I believe you can even buy it to go! The service here is friendly and attentive. If you are a fan of draft beer, you'll be pleased with the extensive selection available at this pub. From local craft brews to popular international favourites, there's something to satisfy every beer drinker’s palate. However, if you're in the mood for something different, they do offer some interesting cocktails. Sports enthusiasts will also appreciate the presence of TVs scattered throughout the pub, allowing you to catch the latest games while enjoying your meal and drinks. They also have different specials on offer every weeknight and live music every Tuesday and Wednesday. I would recommend this pub and am looking forward to going back and trying other items on their menu.
Five stars because this is exactly what you would expect from a British style pub. Warm and cozy atmosphere, good selection of beers on tap, guys in the kitchen do a good job - burgers are flavourful. The service was good too, bartender was polite and helpful with my decisions on the menu. We had two burgers, bison and chicken burgers, fries and salad and a plate of onion rings. Everything was good, I would recommend the bison burger.
This is a great and cozy neighborhood pub! I have been coming here on and off for about 15 years and have never been disappointed. This pub bills itself as a "gastro-pub" and it certainly meets that description with its delicious food. There are usually specials on the weekend. I often enjoy a delicious and healthy kale ceasar salad. If you think an English pub can't make a good schnitzel, think again; I finally tried it today and it was scrumptious. There is also a good selection of beer on tap, which rotates periodically. The very large selection of Scotch is awesome! The service is great and friendly. The prices are reasonable. So pop in and enjoy a nice afternoon or evening!
The jerk chicken wings and the snitchel were absolutely incredible
Nice & quaint pub in Etobicoke with a great variety of beers on tap. Great and hospitable service by the bartender too.
Great spot with a large whiskey and beer selection. Had the wings and they were fantastic as well.
Love it. Miss it. Used to be a regular but moved to Quebec. Went for a great lunch yesterday while in Toronto. Go Lions!
Nice pub, busy even during weekday afternoons, good food, good beer, good crowd
Great spot for a night out, food and service are both amazing
Great Thursday night wings!!
Awesome neighborhood pub vibe.
Great local place! Have to get the wings! Food
Really good liver and onions
Staff are beyond friendly, great food!
Great owner and bartender
One of our favourite bars for wings. The staff is always friendly and attentive and the wings and fries have always been amazing. Their house lager is great too!
Nice neighborhood bar with friendly service. The jerk chicken pasta was great.
Consistently great food and friendly service. It is our go to on the Kingsway.
A decent bar with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff! High quality spirits. Excellent cuisine and fast customer service! I really liked it!
Great brunch offering and very reasonably priced. Food is amazing!
Went here with my kids and had the wings and kids had the chicken strips largely because of the reviews. I found the wings fatty and sauce was not that tasty. The chicken strips were pretty much Janes that you get from metro. The pop was flat but to their credit they did take it off the price. Having said all that the bill was still $85 with tip for 1 adult and two kids and no alcohol
Just had the best wings! The waitress was very knowledgeable guided me to the best wings. Delicious! Half price wings on Thursdays and live bands. Great little spot. Down to earth people. Will definitely be coming back for more.
Always awesome!!
Amazing food and great service great prices as well
Definitely recommend it!
Decent English style pub in the Kingsway area of Toronto.
Best described as comfortable. Good food and price pretty good
Great vibes. Was only here for a beer but will definitely come back.
Fun neighbourhood pub. Brought visitors from Scotland here & they loved it. Especially the chicken wings. Decent selection of bevvies. Friendly staff.
Great live music food service vibes and above all bomb wings!!!
Great wings. Unfortunately it was a Wednesday so they werent half-price. Will definitely go back on a Tuesday or Thursday in the future. Friend liked her burger as well
Waited outside after opening time for the doors to open. Staff completely indifferent. Have been there before and all was okay. But this experience very poor. Standards falling. Walked away.
A lovely small British style pub. Had the Drambooyah cocktail which paired well with the fish and chips. Servers are great. Wife had espresso martini which she really enjoyed.
Great food and the chips were great
Food was good and reasonably priced,...good atmosphere.
Awful food..,,,,lighting so dark you can hardly see ..waitress was excellent the only redeeming feature. I recommend you only go there in daylight hours and do not order the « bison burger »! ,..horrible. Not much wine selection but expensive for what they offer. Don t go here after dark!
At the bar a short woman wearing glasses on a Friday night... arbitrarily decided I was not fit to be served. I was in no way offensive or unfit for service except to criticize her neglectful, discriminatory service. Please stop believing your incompetence justifies sympathy. Do your job. If you feel overworked take it out on your employer not your customers. I will never go here again and I will spread word of my bad experience as much as I can simply because you deserve it. What a shame because Kristen et. al, the regular Fri. night crew, are excellent.
Limited menu post-covid
Henry s has been our go-to neighbourhood gastropub for over a decade. The staff are all great, and the menu has recently been updated with some delish new British-style dishes. We highly recommend this terrific spot!
If you want a cozy pub experience look no further! The dim lighting and ambiance were exactly what I was looking for. I got the bbq chicken burger with fries and a beer and I m very happy with the flavour and quality of the food. The server was also lovely and very helpful. Would recommend you try this place out and maybe catch a game here!
Great little pub, with a dozen or so beers on tap. Including Old Speckled Hen. Very nice ambience and friendly. If the Rueben spring rolls I had are an indication, the food is excellent too. Been here a few times.
Love this spot. Friendly & cosy. Excellent food. Took our team here for our biz holiday party and they loved it too!
Great pub, best curry on the west end for sure. Awesome selection on tap all accompanied by tremendous service.
Nice little town bar..
Good service, ok food
Geoff and his staff are awesome. Great food, great drinks, great people.
Pleasant pub atmosphere. Food was ok.
Great fun with a much better menu than most place Music was nice last night. Not too loud that you couldnt talk Place was packed by 8.
Always good. Solid beer and menu offerings.
Fabulous goof fabulous atmosphere wonderful service. our waiter was amazing. We will be back. Grt pub for the neighborhood.
Nice but close to early
Nice place. Enjoyed live music, Michelle Rumball was great. Food was good.
Loved it. Great little place. Great food, ambiance, and drinks. Would definitely go back.
I genuinely tip 15% prior to taxes as I personally dont feel like I should be tipping for taxes but the over all service and food Ive received At the restaurant I received a total 128.53 after taxes, the machine didnt have an option for 15% or custom percentages so I assumed 13.54 should be somewhere around that amount. The waitress whose also the manager of the restaurant came to use after and asked if the service wasnt good enoughal as I had tipped less than 10% (even after using the after tax amount it is clearly over) as to try and publicly shame me in front of the group. It is pretty disgusting and disappointing that the manager of all had felt this was the best action to take and confront a customer. If someone was genuinely trying to insult the server wouldnt they tip 0? Why would they even bother putting in a tip at all?
Waitress insistanty trying to push drinks on us and oysters that tasted way past their due date. Downswing for a once pretty good local hang.
A fine hostelry with a convivial atmosphere and an excellent bill of fare, along with an extensive selection of libations. This is a gem of an establishment.
The lamb chops are excellent! And they have pretty good daily specials
I could eat the salmon ravioli every day for the rest of my life. Outstanding service by knowledgable staff with exotic cold beers on tap.
I hadnt been in since about 5 years ago. I had a Bison burger with a kale cesear salad which was very good. I saw the wings pass by me while there. Ill have to try those on the next visit.
Nice little spot with varieties of drinks and food.
Fantastic 1/2 Price wings, most excellent. Beers and service awesome
This is the second time that I ve been to this place. They have a good English pub standard menu for food and drinks. The servers was friendly. If you like England type music this is the place. They also have a patio out front.
Serving staff was great, food was decent. Nice neighborhood pub.
Cosy British themed pub with decent food and a wide selection of good beers. Sports on the screens. Great service.
Great pub food and calm atmosphere. The staff were amazingly kind. We needed a place to work for a few hours and they shared the wifi and let us sit there (it wasn t a busy time), drinking tea. Highly recommend the Guinness chocolate cake. Sinful!
Suprise gem ! Solid burger and the house lager hit the spot !!
Amazing experience. Great staff, great food! And the owner Geoff is always around making sure everything is running smoothly! And it always is!
A neighborhood pub done well. A rarity.
We stumbled on this place Friday night, and we loved it. The food was delicious the atmosphere was fun and the drinks were tasty. We will be back.
I go here about every other week to eat. The food is great and i really like the old style tavern feel to it. The gentleman that works the bar on the weekend is not very attentive and has given us an attitude before which was a bit annoying and rude. There is a lady who runs the bar at times who is absolutely great and I love when she is working. My rating is lower due to the gentleman who every time, lacks attentiveness despite how busy they may not be at the moment. Other than that, I absolutely love this place.
Good food and good service!
Food just below average . Precovid was better. Strong smell of cooking on clothes when I left Food
If you re looking for a great evening out this is the place.
Good food and great service
Great cozy pub atmosphere. Excellent selection of beers and spirits. But go there for the cuisine. It may be pub food but it is more imaginative and better prepared than most of the white table cloth restaurants in the area. The food, in short, is remarkable. Its a pub, but also a dining destination.
Wonderful neighborhood pub. Great food, awesome beverage selection, super friendly people
From Kristen, Wayne and Lexi with their excellent customer service to the chefs working behind the scenes. This bar is the most friendly and welcoming place establishment.
Always great
Great service, great food and great atmosphere.
Cozy little place. I admit I would probably give it 5 stars simply for having Fullers on tap (a criminally uncommon beer). I like how the default burger is bison. Not cheap, but not crazy expensive either (especially in such a posh neighbourhood). Good selection, friendly staff. Definitely worth a look.
Awesome local pub. Great owner. Good service.
Great food and some British ales you normally cant find in T.O.
Straight up great experience. Lovely music, lovely selection of beverages, a talented bartender and great service makes for a fantastic time. They also stick true to their roots by having great music from British artists. Big fan of the vibe akin to other dive bars that are hidden gems. This place is going to be my local spot - absolutely in love with it.
Amazing pub great service bartender Wayne s excellent
Amazing service and great beer variety!!! Thank you Amanda for your great service!!!
Classic Kingsway establishment
Wow! A real gem in the rough! Honestly I was a little skeptical of my friend s selection here, but I was so pleasantly surprised. We all had phenomenal food, drinks and service! Would highly recommend!
Loved it here! Amazing atmosphere and live music, loved the lighting and the specials were great - half priced wings and 7$ wine and pints. Amanda our bartender and server was incredible, so attentive and just lovely from the moment we sat down. Will definitely be coming back
MY MESSAGE TO EVERY PERSON THAT WANTS TO GO TO THIS PUB DO NOT GO!! Their is this waitress name Amanda she is a caucasian female, five feet tall, short dark brown hair. She will rip you off I went to this pub with my friend. My first drink I had was a Brown Cow and the second one was a White Russian both of these drinks were not on the drinking menu. Amanda charged me $30 for 2 6oz glass of drinks including a $10 tip. She charged my friend the same amount of money. So both of our bill came up to $40. My friend was shown the price for the first drink which was $15 she nor I was shown the prices for our second drinks Amanda charged us what she wanted. She ripped us off and I called the restaurant asking to speak to the owner and Amanda answered the phone. Amanda asked me Is this about her? I told her that she ripped off both my friend and I. She denied it and told me I will never get too speak to the owner and hang up the phone on me. So Amanda knows that what she did ripped off me was wrong that is why she told me I cant speak to the owner.
Stopped in here for lunch unexpectedly cuz my glasses were being fitted with new lenses next door. It was soooo convenient. Had a wonderful meal experience, except for a phone call our Amanda, our server, took and seemed to take forever for her to return to us. Having said that she was great. The meal was plentiful and delicious! Cya again soon!
Awesome staff, menu, specials and atmosphere.
Excellent food, people and atmosphere!
Great vibe, great food, great staff. Will definitely go again soon.
Really nice atmosphere and the sidewalk patio is cozy. Food was pretty good-- but the potatoes and seasonal veggies served with the lamb shank were terrible..tasted microwaved -- veggies were wet and mushy not crisp at all and roast potatoes tasted like they were once fried but then just zapped in a microwave and served. The fish and chips were really good; a decent piece of haddock with crisp batter and tender moist fillet inside. The fries have a lemon pepper seasoning that is very yum and is definitely worth trying as a side regardless of what you order. Will go back again to try other items.
Loved the food, especially the lemon-lime sweet fries!
Been here twice in the last month or so. Food is solid. Drinks are good. Service is good. Vibe is good. No complaints.
Its a great little pub that manages to elevate both the food and drink selection, but also keep it traditional. Let me put it this way, if you want to drink Budweiser and talk hockey you go down the road to another bar. If you want to drink a Guinness and talk horse racing and golf tips, you come to Henry VIIIth.
Wonderful experience, great food, great service, great beer selection. Recently moved into the neighborhood and our new go to place.
Great neighbourhood spot with awesome daily specials. We love going for wing night, great staff and awesome pub food when not in the mood to cook. Always playing great music.
Great food, and amazing service!!
Cozy, quaint spot with solid drink & food menus. (Terrific selection of bourbon). Bartender (Amanda) was amazing. The place had such a nice vibe - cool decor, good tunes & friendly regulars. Wish I lived closer! See you after my next Dentist appt :)
Pleasantly surprised! I was expecting basic pub fare, and my group ended up getting curry, salmon pasta and jerk chicken fettuccine. Great food and drink options! Would recommend.
Food and service is great. The dim lighting isnt great for menu reading....
Over the years, a great pub. So a 4 star rating.... I visited tonight with a friend, again a positive experience. Until a loud, vulgar, foul mouthed (and I mean the worst language available in English) patron arrived, sat at the bar, and took over. It was offensive to me and Im certain to others. When I complained, the bartender...and he was great all night, Im not blaming him....essentially said that they would tolerate this nonsense later in the evening, it being 9:40pm at that point. Im sure he didn t appreciate dealing with this issue but he was stuck with it. Theres no end of bars where foul mouthed behaviour is accepted. I thought Henry the 8th was a bit of an oasis with higher standards. I don t think they particularly want this level of clientele but they need to set some standards of civility, make them understood, and enforce them.
The server was very friendly and helpful, food very good.
Surprise surprise! Along with the beers on tap, whod think Henry VIII is also cooking up WICKED house made hot sauces that came with my wings. These sauces are legit, they aint playin here:)
Great food, great prices, great service.
This place has been my go-to for delicious food (and drinks!) since I moved to the area, 9 years ago. In non pandemic times the decor and atmosphere inside this cozy pub will keep you coming back, as will the always tempting specials, easygoing and jovial staff who genuinely seem to enjoy their workplace and customers. Until you can experience this place in-person, make it a regular takeout spot, you will not be disappointed. The food is phenomenal! In nine years I have tried all the menu items, and have never once been unhappy with my order. Do it.
Great neighbourhood pub with great wibe! We had great beers on tap and some really good wines by glass. Staff were friendly and attentive, kitchen and bathroom clean, a huge plus in the COVID-19 age! Food is your standard pub fare, not great by any stretch and the only area to improve on. It could have been an off day in all fairness. All In all highly recommended!
Ordered the Jerk Chicken pasta. The portion is very large and very tasty. Will definitely be returning to try other dishes. Did take out and the server was very polite and thanked me for coming. Sorry no photo, we just dug in!
Great selection of drinks, decent food, friendly service!
Great draft selection and decent pub food. For COVID they built a nice patio out back, theres the front too but with so much traffic the back is way nicer, lots of tvs. Always great service .
Defines pub..great service, Guinness and huge whiskey selection and some tasty food options.
3 stars the food is great, the kegs are stale :(
Wings are awesome, so is the bison burger!
The best wings in Etobicoke...so sorry it took 4 years to figure this out THE BEST WINGS
Service was good. Ordered a bison burger as was told it was really good. It didnt have much flavour but the kale Ceasar was fantastic!
we like the service, there is a variety of beers and drinks. We ordered a fries which was good but a little oily for our taste.
Great place for drinks. Good food nice patios. Great service with friendly staff. Food more eclectic than your standard pub fare and tastes great too.
Staff is friendly but they took a very long time to set us on a table and take our food order. Either than that, the place is cozy, regular price and food is ok!
Expensive, chicken wings had no flavor due to being burnt. Lemon pepper fries, little to no flavor . Would not recommend
Great fish and chips served by friendly staff.
kind of ignored...
Comfortable dog friendly patio in the back. Guinness is cold and well poured.
Great pub food. Had the bison burger today. Another favorite is their fish and chips. Cant go wrong with their Chicken Tika Misalla.
Great service, fantastic wings, nice patio (front and back). Definitely recommend this Etobicoke pub.
One of my favorites in the Bloor west area. Great staff, excellent service and fabulous dishes.
Great Pimms Cup!!
Tikki Marsala was YUM !
Great selection of proper beers on tap. The kitchen knows what they are doing! The lamb shank is to die for.
awesome place to eat, food and service was outstanding
Fun. It was fun. Great taps, great food and Super friendly staff.
Ive been to King Henrys twice now and both times were great experiences. Im pleased to say I think Ive found my new local spot. The first time was in the summer and I sat on the front patio (although apparently they have a semi-secret back patio too). I ordered fish and chips - I wasnt expecting anything insane but it was actually really, really good. Compared to Kingsway Fish and Chips down the street, it blew it out of the water. The second time I went in we ordered wings and flatbread I was blown away. Hands down the best Cajun wings Ive ever had. Good sized wings (not cheap little ones that break a part in your mouth) and some really interesting flavours. Theres not a TON of selection, but what they do have is really good. And Ive had a lot of wings in the city. Yes - its better than Duffs, Crown & Dragon, Wild Wing, Wacky Wing, Wingporium, Dog & Bear and Office Pub (RIP btw - they were probably closest match). Overall they just do pub food really well. Im not sure if everything on the menu is to the same caliber as the wings (the flat bread was just okay) but, thats to be expected. Its a pub not a restaurant. Theyve also got a wide selection of beers on tap and a limited cocktail menu (I think only 3 or 4 but they all sounded unique/seasonal). And at $12 a cocktail I think thats a really competitive price when you got places like Bramble up the street charging $18 - $22. As far as beer pricing I only had Guinness and they were fairly steep, two pints came out to about $20, but it is what it is. Still better then paying $12 a pint at the Crooked Cue. I didnt look into if they ever have any pint deals or happy hour, but I wouldnt be surprised if they did have something. Probably just isnt advertised (like their Tuesday Wing night). This spot seems to be the down to earth locals spot, it knows what it is and I like that about it. Our server Amanda was great and knew everyone by name, she was super attentive to us (despite just meeting us). The owner (or who I think may have been the owner) walked in and asked us how we were doing. Overall, it just felt friendly and not forced. Im really happy that I found this local gem and am looking forward to having many pints of Guinness there in the future.
Cozy, with fantastic food! Vanessa was great with her recommendations for dinner and great service 10/10
Went with my son and had a great time and really good food!
Simply excrementious these days!!
I am not a drinker anymore, but it is a nice spot to eat.
Great food! Buck a shuck oysters on Sunday - 5pm till close or they run out.
Quick and friendly service, nice back music from a great musician at the front of the bar.
Try the mead. So good!
Awesome service! Very cosy pub!
Cozy and good pub food. Nice for a casual evening out in The Kingsway. Great selection of beers!
Great pub with outstanding service! Weather you re going for dinner of just a drink they doing it right From the great food to the wide selection of drinks. I highly recommend.
Food is great. Servers are amazing.
Great British style pub with very good beer and whiskey selection
Great atmosphere, very cosy. Got a table right away, server was quick and polite. The food was great.
Great food (for a pub, that is) and rock solid selection of world beers and ales. It also has the ambiance of a British pub without that out-of-the-box feeling that many other British-styled bars have. Dont miss the Sunday-only oyster special!
great vibe with great prices. staff was friendly
Great food, I had the Bison burger and salad. For dessert I had the chocolate mousse cake. Went there for the live entertainment which I enjoyed very much.
I just had the Currued Chickpea Burger and Lemon pepper fries. So freaken good! Staff is very nice and friendly. Ive always seen the place but never went in. I dont regret it one bit. I want to come back and try other things on this menu.
Amazing service and amazing drinks
Great food, service, atmosphere, and ales at Henrys! They have London Pride on draught which is very hard to find.
Great beer menu and outstanding pub fare! Bangers and mash, pot pies, curry fries, they have it all!
Sat out front due to Covid restrictions. Great service and excellent hot quinoa and spinach salad! Also, on this chilly day, big mug of coffee arrived piping hot. Thank you!
The take out menu is great, the quality is just like we remember from our frequent evenings at the pub. Customer service is excellent for any special requests. Something to look forward to during Covid and happy to support such a worthwhile local business.
Sunday Brunch... Nice atmosphere...great service. Food would have been great if it wasnt put on a cold plate making the meal cold. Coffee was cold too. I suggested that the plates and mugs be warmed which would have made a huge difference.
Staff was great, little pricey. Menu was original but good.
Great atmosphere
Nice little pub. Great atmosphere.
Always a great pint served by fantastic staff.
Delicious food. Wonderful atmosphere. Friendly and knowledge staff. Fast service and highly recommended by Richards Auto Clinic Ltd.
Very cold and dirty place
