Azarias Restaurant in Etobicoke

We went for my birthday not my 50th but close.. the food was to be expected. The bill was not much we shared a couple Tapas wine & dessert. It was only $140, however I would debate going again specifically because of the service. It s wonderful to be attentive , however, my date and I were sitting next to each other having a private conversation which the server interrupted and then proceeded to monopolise the conversation telling her story , not withstanding, asking personal questions, instead of being conscientious that we were out for a birthday date. not something that s experienced often and at the end of the meal it felt like an intrusion, before presenting the bill which had not been requested. The place was fairly empty. However there was a group waiting for her to serve them, while she chatted away with my date. It felt quite uncomfortable to be interrupted by her questioning my date what is middle last and first names were.. and then a childhood story.. The purpose of celebration.. is not customary, for the person whose birthday it is, to sit in the corner booth occupied with her asking the middle name of my date as well as other details.. felt very off. At the time, let it slide because was quite surprised and confused frankly by the questions yet, in hindsight not exactly the memory that I want to have for a simple low- key birthday. Having been a server at AGO AGA KHAN many other catered charities part-time, and the owner of two both decade long service businesses, would absolutely never, when serving a couple, put my direct attention on the man, not withstanding it was a birthday dinner of 2. If I was out with a girlfriend, it would be as equally distracting, unnecessary to be asked our middle names, last names, first names (intrusive) and then a background of the waiter or waitress s life. When it was not asked nor did we mention the bill. As we were leaving and we both said a polite goodbye; the server didn t look up or wave. I had spent valuable time quietly listening, observing, to realise her coquettish way of obtaining a heavy tip. What a drag. Etiquette, reading the energy and context of the room when people are out to enjoy their meal and quality time with each other, seems like it would be paramount. It seemed there could be more awareness when you are in service of clientele.

I ordered beef carpaccio. This is a kind of sliced meat with salad on top and small mushrooms. It costs $18. This is probably the worst thing Ive eaten. Meat is like a piece of paper. tasteless, it s also so thin as a sheet of paper, I couldn t eat it, because there are a lot of seasonings and it s very bitter (the same with salad), the portion is very small, I thought it would be larger. do not order cold cuts at this restaurant. they lay down very little. and also bitter because of the seasonings.

Stopped in for a quick pint Sat on the patio, 4 servers came out, completely ignored me and went back inside. Went next door and had a pint in front of me in less than a minute. I would not recommend this establishment.

Great food, great friendly service. Fondue, Burger, Kung Pao Chicken & Sangria were all awesome. Will be back!

Quite expensive but the food was all fantastic. Small tapas-type plates. Went with my wife and our favourites were the brussel sprouts, short ribs and scallops.

Came here for a girls night. The server recommended a bunch of tacos but they were tiny and mediocre. The other dishes were very small for the price. I ordered a glass of wine and forgot to specify the size and got send a giant one for $$$. So $$$$$ for a glass of wine and cold mini tacos. Seems like other people are having a better experience so it may have been an inexperienced server.

We had oysters, the seared tuna, and the avocado, coconut, key-lime dessert. All three were very delicious and entirely satisfying. Service is friendly and attentive. Lovely place.

Really good food and service! Favourites were the Montreal smoked meat spiders & cod tacos. The ahi tuna wasnt the greatest nor was the calamari.

Had an excellent evening with girlfriends here last night. The service, food and wine list was excellent!

Abit overpriced but everything we ordered was good. My favourite was the duck confit tacos. The spicy salmon tartar was good. The strawberry rhubarb crumble with ice cream was also really good.

Had a great dinner here June 1, shareable plates so bring a friend so you can try many...also the Patio is dog friendly, it is street side but still enjoyable. They were attentive to our pooch brought him a water bowl.

Super friendly and accomodating staff. The patio was clear so I got to chose my spot. I indulged in some Spicy shrimp tacos which were amazing, couldve used some more limes if anything. Also had a couple Cucumber Lime tequila cocktails, which I highly recommend! Great food and service, it is on the more pricey side but you gotta treat yoself every now and then! Randomly choose this place to have lunch with a friend.food was great mussels were my favorite.dessert was good also portions were small but we live in an age where that is normal.over great time midday.would definitely go again.

I have been here about 10 times. The food is good. However, the music is too loud and most surprising, the owner and his party were shouting and being very loud. Our group of friends could not hear each other. I guess the owner can do what he wants, but several of us have decided that we won t return to Azaria.

We loved our dinner at Azarias Our server Hannah was amazing at giving us suggestions and pacing the meal and always topping up our wine at the right time. We did find it a bit loud to talk across from each other as its a packed house and tables are quite tight together. I would prefer a little more space btw tables. the chairs were so comfortable and the decor sets the tone. All the food and wine was delicious.

Azarias in one word is underwhelming. After keeping its place on Bloor & Royal York for many years, with rave reviews from family and friends, I really thought I would have an amazing dining experience here, when in reality it was just average. Tapas is a great dining style and one I really enjoy, however at this price point ($16 for 2 small sliders) the food better be amazing and at Azarias, it simply wasnt. The dishes were comparable to that of a chain restaurant - just o-k. If youre a local, I would suggest taking the subway downtown to somewhere like Aloette - the price point and dining style are very similar and the food is apples to oranges. I WILL say that the oysters we had were very fresh, but otherwise would not return.

Wonderful experience from start to finish. Liked everything we ordered, loved most of them. Service was excellent. It is a little noisy but nothing unusual on a Saturday night. Look forward to coming back.

Not sure what happened to this place as haven t been here in a while. However, the prices have gone up and the quality is terrible. The calamari were dry and so overcooked we could barely taste them same for the french fries almost like potato chips. Had the steak asked for medium and got rare. $38 for a piece of meat the size of a perogi was ridiculous. The bread was very fresh at the beginning of the meal. Was the only good part of the meal. Wanted to order more, offerings but the food was so poor we decided not to. Shame because the ambiance in this place is very nice. If you want to pop in for a drink and some oysters, it would be fine. Won t be returning Anytime soon.

I decided to come for date night since we live in the area. I should have looked at the menu before coming here as they have many meat dishes I couldn t eat. Everything is done as tapas so small plates you d probably need about three or more plates to get a full meal. I enjoyed the oysters and the beet salad. I also enjoyed the wine. My boyfriend had the steak special, which he enjoyed however, it didn t sit well with him later in the night. The shrimp and lobster gnocchi looked and sounded right up my alley; unfortunately, it was salty. The food I don t think was worth the price. The atmosphere was giving upscale sports bar. (It was really loud). I have no complaints with the service as our server was attentive and friendly. But we probably won t be back

Absolutely outstanding presentation, textures and mixture of tastes. Chef Timothy and all staff were fantastic and accommodating throughout the entire evening. Fried Shrimp Tacos and Roasted Brussel Sprouts exceptional. Well portioned servings. Avocado lime Tart dessert and Lava ice cream cake were tremendously delicious. Recommend the Montreal Smoked meat sliders. Extensive wine list and cocktails. Great place for any family or friend dining. Thank to all involved for a exquisite night. Keep up the great passion for what you do.

Amazing every time!

This is a great tapas spot to go with friends or on a date. The place is super cute and the atmosphere is very chill. The food is incredible, we indulged in the mini sliders, fries, mac and cheese and kung pao chicken. Everything was delicious and I cant wait to go back to try more items of their menu.

Our first time there was lunch for a family members 80th. Absolutely loved it. The food, the service and the welcoming atmosphere were all top notch. A new favourite for us.

It is a tapas bar. And the food is pretty good. Ambience is mediocre. Prices are what you would expect for the area. Would I go back? I really do not know.

Absolutely amazing. I came here randomly for a friends birthday party. As well as the leafs game (fack). The food was amazing, the staff was great. Very friendly. Not a huge place but very comfy. I HIGHLY recommend!!!!!! A smaller sized, well priced, menu (you want that at a restaraunt) by an executive chef...... You cant go wrong! Enjoy!

Always such amazing food!! Recently celebrated a birthday there and everyone couldn t stop talking about how good everything was. Staff is so friendly and they are accommodating! Glad I found such a gem!

Unfortunate experience where the restaurant incorrectly recorded the time of my reservation. What was most disappointing was the lack of effort in finding an appropriate solution to the problem. Putting your diner on the clock to eat quickly is not a good solution, especially at the prices you charge. I was looking forward to this special meal, however I am doubtful that I will return based on this poor experience.

Went here for a work dinner with a big group. We shared a lot of different dishes and they were all fantastic. The service was also exceptional!

I have no idea why this place has such a high rating. 1st, 90% of the female staff are wearing very short skirts, sportswear, or crop tops. Even the hostess was wearing a terribly short dress. I don t really think it s appropriate considering they re trying to appear as a classy/expensive restaurant. 2nd, The food came out very fast, which would be a good thing if it wasn t incredibly bland. I got the Indian chicken sliders and Mac and cheese and both were very flavourless. 3rd, it is very pricey for bland, flavourless food. $13 for a side of Mac and cheese and $16 for terrible sliders. Very disappointed. I hardly ever write reviews but this was so bad I had to.

The service is great, the atmosphere great. But the portions of the foods aren t worth the price. The quality is also not on par with its cost. The mac and cheese and sliders are definitely not worth $13 and $16. This is definitely more of a place to drink than anything.

Pricey for what you get. Very loud. Had the mussels. They we just ok. Way too much tomato dollop to hide the few mussels crammed a small bowl = $18. I received twice the serving for the same price at similar establishment few days earlier. Cheapest glass of wine, red/white =$18/8oz. I left hungry

We always come for oysters, at least every month, happy to have oysters restaurant nearby. And lobster risotto is amazing too.

Azarias always delivers. A great atmosphere with solo diners even at the bar! Azarias is a competent and consistent go-to, especially for entertaining and introducing friends to its charms. Wonderful assortment of specials which could stand on their own, but study that menu it has the most wonderful offerings. Polished and friendly service by Sophie (and kudos to Andrew in the background), well done by everyone. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options, right down to the avocado lime cheesecake!

Patiently waited 15min for food in a dark dirty back alley after being told they were working on it and then rudely told its ready and yelled at saying I should have checked with them again to get it faster.

Tapas with a deep menu and tasty cocktails. Upscale seems to be a price distinction. Recommendation to serve WARM bread to achieve this out of the gate. Portions are as one could expect from Tapas, a bite to eat is what should be expected here. Not the go to restaurant for oysters, but they do come out quickly. Beef Carpaccio, and Lobster/ shrimp gnocchi was delicious.

I must say, one of the best food experience in GTA, the owner was so welcoming and the food and service were beyond our expectation! We had Tenderloin, Salmon and Avocado salad, all been very tasty, the service was beyond of what you can imagine. We had Tiramisu for the desert; the freshest I ve ever tried! I would highly recommend this restaurant.

One of the best culinary experiences I ve had in 20 plus years in Toronto. Such a variety of choices and flavors, sizes very generous so you only need 2 per person but you will want more (and take leftovers home) to get to try all the different options. Service was excellent, attentive and efficient. Worth the drive to Etobicoke no matter where you live in the city.

Had an amazing dinner here. The owner (I think) greeted us so nicely when we came in and gave us options of where we d like to sit. It s April 7 th 2022 back from Azarias , what can I say . So glad they made it to the other side of this pandemic . The greeting the laughter and ongoing community gathering is so nice to have returned . The food and service has been consistently awesome. Great to see Mark and our amazing gal Kathryn now the manager , congratulations! Our new waitress Sara was great . Such a lovely young lady so on her game . Love the food and service

We had an amazing dinner here. The lady at the door greeted us with the smile when we came and gave us options of where we d like to sit. Then explained what the Menu ordering concept is at this restaurant.You order several smaller plates that are meant to be shared by the table. Love this idea! Everything we tried was superior. Not only the delicious taste, but also the food presentation on the plate which showed us they really care. All the service staff were very nice and attentive. We will definitely come back here again.

The service at this restaurant has gone down significantly. Apathetic service at best. Especially don t go to celebrate a special occasion and hope for the bday person be treated special and be given a small bday treat (as most restaurants do). The owners stance is you can pay for a desert and only then you will get a candle and server will sing hbd! Completely disappointing experience for my family all around and even more so when my bill was close to $300 for 4 people. After many years of patronizing this restaurant, will never go back.

Overall good experience. Food was tasty, portions were decent, price was moderate to high. Downside was the service and venue. Space is cramped and the service was spotty, with meals coming inconsistently.

First time coming here. Everything was great up until the mains. Took over 45min. I understand they might have been busy, does not excuse the wax paper in my sliders. Manager was not helpful at all. Would not not recommend.

If you want a lovely tapas style eating experience and the ability to dine outside in this covid era, please give this upscale casual place a go. They have the street set up next to the side walk but its very lovely and a great atmosphere especially when the lanterns come on in the evening . The staff are amazing and the owner is engaging, friendly and will go above and beyond to make your service top notch and ensure you are enjoying your meal from start to finish. The food is stellar and pleasing for both the eye and stomach ( so good you wont want to share). The drinks menu is very extensive and the cocktails Definitely try the Duck tacos, Kung pao chicken, short ribs and the Kingway sliders!!! . The vanilla cheesecake with strawberry coulis is . It is a little $$$ but well worth it for the quality food and service.

I usually do a thorough research before I visit a place but was super hungry on my way from fitness centre and randomly stopped at this place. Great little spot with delicious and creative menu. I tried their beef carpaccio, duck and cod tacos. Check them out if you are nearby!

5 Girls went out for a birthday party. We ordered almost everything on the menu, the portions are meant for sharing so we thought we each order a few items. EVERYTHING I tried was excellent. I cant even be more specific, the fondue was fun and so good my friend was almost licking the bowl. We had the shrimp tacos and the beef tacos (excellent). The meat and cheese try was huge, so much bigger with a great assorment of meats and cheeses. We ordered sliders but I couldnt eat one, I was too full. The seafood platter for sharing was amazing. Sylvia was our server and the service was beyond excellent, especially since the restuarant was so busy, she never faltered at all. Will go back.

This restaurant definitely deserves much more than 5 stars.My husband and I love it. It is classy, the food is excellent, and the concept is amazing. But we most are connected with this restaurant because of their services, and the way the customer are treated there by the personal (starting with the owner). They are all amazing people, and being there is not only to have a great visual and taste experience (because the food is not only sooooo good, but it looks amaizing), being there is also a great feeling of belonging to their family. They connect with people so easily, they are very nice, toughtful and vey caring. It is a pleasure for us to go back there every time and to be welcomed always with so much joy.

The best Resturant in Etobicoke

I chose this restaurant to have my New Year Dinner on 31st December 2017, and I had the worse dining experience Ive had in Toronto. I ordered two plates, but they were prepared only1. I had to wait to eat with my partner and the dish was cold. The waitress apologized. Thats ok. They overcharged the bill. So asked our credit card to give us the money back and charge again. It is still ok. Reasonable mistake. In the end, one bold man appeared to be super arrogant, impolite e told me He is the owner. He asked me not to go back. I can not believe I had this experience in a such civilized country. It is really a shame. Traumatic experience. I would like to know If I really spoke with the owner on 31st December 2017.

The food was pretty good but because its tapas style (small sharing plates) it can get quite pricey.

Went here while at Taste of the Kingsway on Saturday. Server was pleasant and attentive but after we had been there nearly 45 minutes told us that our meals (2 orders of mac and cheese and 2 orders of sliders) would be another 25 minutes, which we figured would mean over 30. Advised that we would take our bill and go. Owner came and was very rude, clearing the table bruskly and commenting that this wasnt good for them, notwithstanding that we left $100 cash for 4 drinks and 10 oysters, which included a decent tip that I hope the server kept to herself. Maybe they should have told us the food service was running that far behind before seating us. Well, they wont have to worry about serving us again.

Food is delicious, the chef is amazing! Nice Manager, owner has the right idea when it comes to his expectations of service... hes pretty outspoken...very straight to the point to be honest....but who said that this is necessarily a bad thing ? I like it. He definitely takes pride in the food that is delivered and is customer focused, the male Server Marco is awsome too! Thanks for the delicious selections of food, Ill be back obviously

Food, staff, management, drinks, ambiance, service all 10/10

Food is fine, delicious, but nothing extra special. First waitress few day ago made us come again, so lovely, so friendly. Second waitress today made us never come back. When you dont look like you are wealthy you are treated that way. We got seated at a very tiny table, Menu Card got taken away after one order. The table next to us got recommendations for every taste. But when we ordered for an other round we got an surprised eye rolling of the waitress. Waitress made us leave quickly after eating, like we dont deserve to be in their noble restaurant.

OK... it was our first visit to Azarias but it wont be our last. For one, I am thrilled to know that we have a restaurant so close to home that serves fresh oysters daily. My wife loves oysters being from the east coast. Prior to discovering Azarias, I was having to drive us to the west end of Burlington so she could have a feed a couple times a year (I wont go downtown). Happy wife equals happy life. Now well probably get her oysters seasonally at the very least. She also really enjoyed her beet salad. I had the beef sliders and they were very good. I was grateful for the au jus on the side, as the beef cooled, it was getting tougher. Perhaps because of how much was stacked on each bun. The other dip, a horseradish sauce was enjoyable, although a little too mild. Im not into hot and spicy but horseradish should have a bit of a bite. I would take this over the Kegs very horseradish though. My food rating will probably go to a 5 after we revisit and try some other dishes. We both look forward to returning again and actually sharing some plates like most are meant to be. I think the portions were perfect. We didnt leave hungry by any means. It was fine to not be needing takeout containers either. The hostess and our waitress were lovely. Id be happy to see and converse with them again. Ive read the comments from others whove left reviews complaining how snooty the staff were and made to feel undeserving to be in their restaurant. We never felt that at all, especially me who has been in places where I was made uncomfortable because I dont always fit in because of my heavy metal look. I was treated the same here, wearing blue jeans and a raccoon Hawaiian shirt, as the fine suited gents 2 tables over. Oh, by the way, I ordered only water to start and didnt get a look, a snide comment or anything like some stated they got. I did order a Lemmy later on, Jack Daniels and Coke. Im glad that I am not a wine drinker because their list is extensive... which probably is a very good thing for those who enjoy wine. Anyway, what are you still reading this review for? Go on over to Azarias and give them a try! Parking: Lots of parking in the area, short walking. There is parking on Bloor too but I prefer side streets and less traffic.

2nd time at this restaurant and again, a wonderful and delicious experience. They managed to fit us in within a 15 minute window without a reservation. The place was packed. All the staff is amazing!

We had a fabulous takeout dinner last night! Everything we had was outstanding and great presentation with the oysters. Shrimp tacos, lobster sauce muscles, smoked salmon, Brussel sprouts, green beans all delicious. Thanks very much Azaria Team from The Oleander Team :)

I ordered take-out from Azarias for the first time last night and was so impressed! The truffle mushroom risotto and french beans were both delicious, and they even added half a loaf of french bread to enjoy with my meal - much appreciated! Can t wait until patios open up and I can visit in person!

Food is good, but nothing spectacular. Pricing is quite high for portion size. Service very good.

Best restaurant in the kingsway! We love visiting azarias for their amazing food and friendly staff. Their food is always delicious, and the ever-changing list of specials makes each visit new and exciting. Their food also hold up well for takeout, which has been great during Covid. If you havent tried their fish tacos or beef short ribs, you absolutely must!

We had our first meal at Azarias last night, (outdoor seating as required by the COVID-19) guidelines. We had decided to try the restaurant because the menu looked so interesting. We ordered the beet salad which was adequate and then proceeded to 4 cod slides. The cod sliders that were delivered were in fact shrimp sliders as we discovered after the first few bites. They were much to spicey for my wife, but I ate the four shrimps without the slaw and taco. I mentioned to the server that shrimp rather than cod sliders were served and she asked with my wife would like to try one cod slider which came over-cooked and with way too much batter. We also had the smoked meat slider which were corned beef, but tastey and the beef dip, which was tender and flavourful. I cannot recommend this restaurant because of the lack of attention to detail in the preparation and serving of food. Moreover, when the bill came, we were charged for the one cod slider, which we should not have because of the error in serving us shrimp tacos and that I interpeted the server s offer to get a cod slider to make up for the error. Overall, we were disappointed.

Great food, great staff, great environment

Flavours were really good, but a too much of the menu was fried foods. Staff was friendly, service was very quick. We had Mac and cheese, fish tacos, chicken sliders, brussel sprouts, lemonades for the kids.

Very bad and chaotic experience. Ordered 4 plates in total. Waited 45 min for the first plate to come. Food was so so, definitely didn t worth the wait time and bad experience

The place is so nice and cozy! Staff is super friendly and goes above and beyond. Amazing place with family history, delicious food and friendly atmosphere. The food was so good, that I was only able to take a picture of the dessert, before it was devoured :) Certainly will be back!

Good tapas place. The avocado cake is very delicious. Broccoli is nice as well.

Sat outside at a table for two, unfortunately we were seated under the drip of an air conditioner condensation. The social spacing was right on the curb, so there was absolutely no distancing from people and their pets walking by the sidewalk. The only saving grace was that the food tasted very good, the service was prompt. I wouldnt eat outside at this restaurant again, not well situated for outdoor dining.

Was at a friends who raved about the food and ordered take out for dinner. WOW. Was impressed by everything and considering it was take away wasn t even very hot when we sat down to eat it. Can t wait to actually eat at restaurant when food is served after it s made!! Favourites truffle fries, Montreal smoked meat sliders and Kung pao chicken and shrimp tacos! Lobster and shrimp gnocchi was great would have been better with a little extra parmesan and pepper (that u always get at restaurants)! Even the dog was salivating!

Excellent food and service as always

Hostess was not pleasant, wouldn t even talk to us. They wanted to bring our food out at different times. The food was okay, it was lacking. The waitresses service was good though. We were outside in a the sidewalk and people brushed up against our table as they strolled by and the drops of a AC condensation falling on us. Won t go back to this place. PS. Response :I did call to inform the hostess 10 mins prior to booked time, and we were 15 mins later than the booked time. Second, I did not read that you were a tapas restaurant; plus just cuz you say tapas doesn t mean that everyone understands what that is. I was not going to respond, but had to set the record straight. Kudos to our waitress all the same.

My fav spot in the Royal York & Bloor area. The inside is upscale but still cozy, plus theres outdoor seating on Bloor. Food is terrific (the brussels sprouts & spare ribs were standouts this time) with the only issue being which dishes to choose. You could certainly order individually but its really best to try & share as many as possible. Extensive wine list & next time Ill get into the cocktail menu. Our server Eliza and the rest of the staff were great, she even split our dessert onto two plates! Who does that? :)

Great and quick service, delicious food but slightly noisy

An experience like no other. You are not simply a customer at Azarias, you are family! The service, personality, atmosphere and ambiance are without equal and the food? An adventure for the senses; exceptional! crafted with care and passion! Run, dont walk to Azarias! And prepare to be hooked for life!

Always amazing food. Loud but worth it.

Cozy atmosphere and 10/10 food! My friends and I ordered multiple dishes to share and every one tasted exceptional. Would highly recommend the seared scallops, lobster and shrimp gnocchi (the truffle cream sauce was to die for), as well as the smoked salmon crostini s. (Note: Portion sizes are on the smaller side) Would definitely recommend this place!

10/10 for food and experience. I love the casual but classy vibe this restaurant offers. The staff is warm and knowledgeable about the product. The food is elevated favourites brought to you family style for sharing. I really enjoyed this restaurant and went back twice in the same week I tried it
