Barrel House Korchma is a family-owned Ukrainian restaurant serving traditional and authentic dishes.
A taste of Ukraine is what you get at this nice restaurant. Live music Saturday nights. Tables, chairs, plates, wall decors are all done in great taste. Friendly staff. I'll definitely go back.
While working on a project nearby, I have stopped twice for lunch at Korchma. The restaurant is not busy around lunch time and service is quick. Before even mentioning the food you will be blown away by the unique design of the place. So much to see. The food is great, head the pleasure to try the borscht soup and Salo. This made for a great light lunch if you are not very hungry. The 2nd visit I tried the 4 combo special that was great as well. Haven't tried any of the deserts yet but I will sure be back again to try more great and delicious foods.
Great food and atmosphere! They could use a bit more staff during a busy evening. It was a bit slow, even to get our drinks. However, the server was fantastic!
It was my first time here. I am going to say the food quality and portion sizes were great. Service unfortunately was not up to par. The appetizers came a minute or so before the main meal. The temperature of the appetizers was hot, and the main meal was warm, which led me to believe the main meal was prepared before the appetizers. The servers were preparing for a large pre reservation, so I guess they were busy with that, so they paid less attention to us and the other tables.
Incredible experience, venue, and food. Very legit, most of the diners were eastern european, if you're reading this, just go! Menu is limitless, especially if you've never been to this kind of restaurant. If I went again id order only the appetizer/sode combos with no main in order to try as many things as possible without getting too full!
I loved Barrel House Korchma. They have amazing house made traditional Ukrainian food which reminds me of babas. We had the cabbage rolls which were phenomenal. The perogies with potato, butter, and onion just how I would have it during holidays. I truly loved them. The kielbasa sausage was delicious. If you have never had Ukrainian food this is a great place to visit. I highly recommend and would love to come back.
This place is great! Great food with great vives. The decor and aesthetic of the restaurant is really unique. And, of course, the food is really tasty and decently good value. This was one of my first times trying Ukrainian cuisine and I am happy I came here. I will be coming back in the future for sure. All the food in the picture fed two very hungry people (3 appetizers, 1 soup, 1 main), but this was a lot of food for sure and very filling!
We have visited this lovely restaurant as a guests of a birthday party. The service was unmatched. The staff truly cared about everyone’s experience. The food was absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. If you looking to discover the real Ukrainian food culture - this place is absolutely must be visit! From top to bottom this restaurant is absolutely amazing! Thank you for a great experience and an outstanding evening Highly recommend!
Good Ukrainian restaurant. Relaxed atmosphere on weekends, crowded and empty
I have tried a few of the menu items and everything was absolutely delicious!! Definitely recommend the chebureky, hachapuri and the medovyxa!!! Absolutely great Ukrainian menu!! Food
Nice establishment. I was here for the first time, but there were many people who looked like regular visitors. That is, people vote with their wallets. The owners support the fight against the invaders and help to free our Ukraine from the copepods. I dont know about the kitchen. And the beer was quite cold :)
Great food, especially if you crave ukrainian one. Cozy atmosphere. Good service
Amazing authentic place with Ukrainian cuisine and spirit. The best borsht Ive ever tried in GTA!
Ours is ours, what can you say! I came here with my family after Japanese sushi. Familiar dishes, national atmosphere. It was quite crowded, which indicates the popularity of this establishment. The waiter came quickly, they ordered potted mushrooms. After 20 minutes, we were already enjoying the meal. It was very tasty. I recommend this establishment, you can eat national dishes for an adequate price.
The best
So glad we made the streetcar trek to this restaurant. We love eastern European food. Glad we can support this Ukrainian restaurant. Love the decor, and the food!
Great place for Ukrainian food! Vegetarian options: Very little Food : 5/5 |
Good service, delicious Ukrainian food! I sincerely recommend!
Best Ukrainian food restaurant
The most unique Ukranian restaurant in the GTA. Everything is made with love.
It was really fantastic!!!!
A real fun place for a great meal and fun times. They even had live music on Fridays.
The best place to try Ukrainian food in Toronto (from my personal experience)! Delicious food, although it still better at home Some positions are a bit too pricey but most of them are reasonable. You can try a variety of dishes from Ukrainian cuisine, so better bring your friends to buy a few things and try more dishes.
Amazing!
Everything is great. Very tasty. Like at home
Good food. Service was great. Nice place.
Great authentic Ukrainian cuisine.
I would give the highest points, because this is a part of Ukraine at the other end of the world, but there is one but, everything in order: - the dishes are delicious, it cannot be otherwise, because this is our native Ukrainian cuisine - the atmosphere is wonderful, music, portraits and paintings, various old things, I dont know how you brought it all, but you are well done - the service left a mixed impression, I will explain why, on the one hand everything seems to be great, but there is something that surprised us, we came, the table was not reserved for the front, we understood that we would have to wait, the girls brought water and a menu, disappeared for a few minutes 10, we made an order, another 20 minutes passed, the girl waitress mixed up the order, since we did not have much time, we ate and left, I understand that there are different days, but we were not at peak time, it was only 4 tables, thats why its strange that everything takes so long, and the girl waitress should be more attentive, since we not only said the name of the dish, but also pointed to it, sometimes you have to call the waiters several times, my husband also ordered beer and fish, so he waited for that one the gas has been removed from the beer, the fish does not need to be cooked, it is dry and packed, you can bring it right away And everything else is just great Kid-friendliness: The child was treated with sweets, the son was happy, thank you
The girls are charming and well done. Tatyanka, Marichka and Rinata - from their hands it is very tasty
Amazing place, little Ukrainian heart. Delicious food and great staff.
Tasty!
Awesome Ukrainian place. Shuba is the the best dish here.
Very authentic, and very tasty.
Very cozy and atmospheric institution. There is delicious food and a homely atmosphere. And I recommend that you definitely try the proprietary tinctures from the owner.
Pleasant homely atmosphere, helpful and cheerful staff. The menu of the establishment will pleasantly please you with an abundance of Ukrainian dishes and snacks. Ill be happy to come back and enjoy it all again.
Great atmosphere to hang out for any occasion!
Food quality on a decline
Delicious food, amazing staff and great authentic Ukrainian vibe.
My first time eating Ukraine food it was soo good will be going back frequently now
Nice place to feel Ukrainian taste
Delicious food, good service and authentic atmosphere of Ukraine!
This place is great! Perfect for large groups and the food is so comforting and tasty. Make sure to book a reservation as tables fill up fast.
There is no certainty that the owners read the reviews, but there is hope. Food: dry shish kebab, old lard, a year old, peasant-style potatoes cooked and reheated yesterday, dumplings with cabbage are not tasty, if Im not mistaken, as many as four pieces per portion, dumplings with cherry as many as five per portion, according to our Ukrainian style!! Bograch as a puree is not fresh. Savings on everything, even on sauces, smiled. There were no seats in the house, they invited us to a tent outside, it was warm. The interior is so simple that it is even poor. The waitresses are friendly. General impression and conclusions: go for the first time, make your own conclusions, because I see from the reviews that many people even liked it, but I dont understand what it is at home? stale food Many people have probably never been to restaurants, Varell is their restaurant level. I do not recommend it to my friends. Unfortunately, there are much more opportunities to work qualitatively in Canada, in fact everything is as usual.
Everything we ordered is so freaking good. The service was awesome, the atmosphere was great. First time eating Ukrainian food and I ve been missing out. Just go already.
We had dinner and drink there tonight, first time trying Ukranian food. Loved the vibe, food, and drinks. Definitely going back again sometime soon
This place is awesome. I recommend going with friends and just getting a lot of stuff a la carte and sharing. Youll leave full for sure.
I loved the food & drinks. Definitely do like Kiev Chicken with Pickled Vegetables, its delicious. Along with some Mead liquor. Vegetarian options: They also have vegetarian options.
Words cannot express how cozy it is The staff is friendly Food is like home The atmosphere is simply incredible
Great
Great food I didnt like Bandera on the wall
Absolutely delicious authentic Ukrainian food. Truly a gem on the lakefront. The service was wonderful!
The best restaurant Ive visited in whole GTA. The atmosphere is amazing, the food is delicious and the service - shows all others in Canada how it should be done! The prices are extremely reasonable! Will definitely come back not once!
Our favorite place in Toronto. Sometimes its even hard to get here because everything is reserved) The food is very tasty and served quite quickly, my personal favorite is the borscht with donuts. The prices are pleasant, and the staff is always friendly. I recommend!!!
Very nice place! I recommend!
Dumplings were not salty, almost none... But lard, stuffing, bograch, were delicious
Pleasant staff
Today was an exceptional service. Food is very good
Best Ukrainian restaurant in Toronto! Authentic dishes, wonderful decor, and reasonably priced menu. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and our server Tetiana was wonderful!
Excellent authentic food! I was surprised with the variaty of different foods on the menu. I loved the dessert menu! Food
This is the best place Ive been in the last year. Simply top. Borscht is like my mother s, I got drunk and took some with me. 11/10 I recommend to everyone.
This is a hidden gem in the city. Every time I come here, I m blown away by the service, food and experience. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!!
Delicious, affordable. Service at a height! Delicious, affordable. Service at a height!
Wonderful experience food delicious.
I have been there with my friends, we have spent a lot of money there, food is good, but table service is terrible. After we finished our drinks, we had to wait probably 20 minutes till waiter come to our table and asked as what we want next than we had to wait another 20 minutes till the waiter bring those stuff that we have ordered. And also, the waiter refused to bring me more alcoholic drinks after I had just 2 shots of Vodka and one beer. I was not even feeling anything from that alcohol. She told me that I have to eat and stuff like that even after I already had schnitzel, honey cake and 4 cans of coke.
How good it is to have your family 8000 km from home, a piece of Ukraine in Canada, everything is very tasty
If I could give this place 10 stars I would do that with no hesitation! Unique decor, such a vibe! Food is delicious and drinks are exceptional. Clean washrooms (for me it s a pivot point lol) , friendly service. Highly recommend. Definitely coming back.
a lot of really tasty traditional Ukrainian food. love everything!! thank you very much for the restaurant and preservation of Ukrainian food and culture, everything was super tasty, just like at home. everything will be Ukraine
Fantastic food! Beautifully presented! Extensive menu! Cant wait to return!! Food
Went here for lunch today with coworkers, I believe we were the first table of the day arriving right as they opened at 12pm. All of our food was flavourful & very enjoyable!! Large portions as well. We will be back
Great place with enormous portions and lots of dishes to select from. A true taste of traditional Ukrainian cuisine. Prices are very reasonable. Staff were friendly and went above and beyond.
Really good experience! Good music and good staff! Food was really tasty !!
Everything is amazing. Kitchen, stuff. Everything is incredibly beautiful. The cuisine is delicious, the service is at the highest level. Interior, like at home, in Ukraine in the Carpathians. Thank you very much.
very tasty borscht and you can take your dog on the patio!
Nice place, it was delicious, my recommendation
Borscht was ok. We had also salmon and chicken and it was super dry. Seems like cook forgot to take it from the grill. Wouldnt recommend.
Servers are with attitude. Food is mediocre, wouldnt recommend
We visited the restaurant last night) The staff is friendly. The interior is very attractive. The cuisine is delicious. Thank you, we will visit again and again!!!
Good price, nice music, food was not the greatesr, but the booze was good and good price.
Terrible experience for as the couple who had reserved a table for diner on May 27. No one was coming to take our order for over 30 minutes. After, we ordered potato pancakes that never came to the table at all, and the staff forgot to tell us that THEY WERE OUT OF POTATOES that night.Never coming back to that place again! I hope the owners contact us with apologies
Long wait times for orders that you placed ahead of time online. Seems like they didnt even start making it until I got there
Ordered delayed beyond reasonable timeframe. They didnt even print the receipt for the order I was supposed to pickup and didnt say anything on how long it might take. 30mins delay
I ate a boys portion of borscht with salzesunchik and white bread with garlic to Ukrainian songs, next to our compatriots and the red, black and blue and yellow flag, what could be better in a foreign country? What other girl...
Food and service were both excellent. Best Ukrainian food I ever had. The Kvass was great too.
Authentic atmosphere, Salo, delicious Ukrainian cuisine, Salo, flavorful traditional drinks, Salo. Did I mention Salo?
Wow. Live just a block away and have passed by many times throughout Korchmas beginning. Kept telling myself to try it out one day. That day finally came today and so glad I got to experience the food. SO GOOD. Ordered the shashlik (pork). A generous portion with a garlicky, tomato dipping sauce. Got grilled veggies as a side and couldnt be more delighted. Will definitely be going again to try out the other dishes. Service was a bit slow, BUT only because it was packed so without a reservation my partner and I were seated outside on the patio. So, if going on the weekend highly suggest making a reservation. Well done.
Beautiful Ukrainian restaurant!
Delicious and authentic Ukrainian food. Great atmosphere, Great staff.
Authentic Ukranian place with soulful cuisine and atmosphere. Come by and try it!
I ordered potato pancakes, perogies and a dessert. My bill came up to $90. I got ripped off I am never coming back to this restaurant. I dont think anyone should go here either because the taste of the food was not even worth how much I spent.
Very good atmosphere, I really like coming here
Best Ukrainian food place in Toronto in the past 10 years
It was good, but not exceptional. The food had a homemade quality, but the service was lacking. Standoffish waitress, and we had to flag them down each time to order and pay.
Some of the food is very good, but they have a lot of staffing issues that need to be resolved. Very often there is not enough staff to serve everybody properly. The service is inconsistent overall some people are very polite and professional while others are rude and amateur. There is a lot of potential for it to be a great restaurant! I hope the owners/managers can improve the service. That is a bigger problem than the food, which is usually delicious.
At first, they brought us a barely warm shish kebab in 10 minutes, it was immediately noticeable that it was simply not well reheated, and not immediately cooked! They took it away from us, reheated it and brought 2 servings of pork shish kebab, but chicken and pork
Very tasty food, carefully recreated history and atmosphere, collection of authentic antiques and art objects. An interior that impresses from the first minute. It is very pleasant to spend time here. This is the institution to which you always want to return. Many thanks to the hosts for the wonderful atmosphere and very tasty and exquisite dishes. I am glad that many family holidays and celebrations with friends were with you! It is difficult to imagine a more atmospheric, well-maintained, and hospitable place in a distinctly Ukrainian style. For those who come to the city - I highly recommend visiting this restaurant, the staff is always friendly and sincere!!! There are very large portions, which are made with love. If I could give 10 stars, I would gladly give it.
The staff is nice and friendly! The food is very tasty! I am satisfied with my visit to this restaurant!
I had a amazing dinner a month ago. I m planning to go there again. Food there is always great. Food
Amazing place to go. Friendly atmosphere and service is top quality. Had an amazing experience!
Very tasty!
Great food, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. I ve visited with my family and friends for the first time today and definitely going to come again.
A good place to try Ukrainian cuisine but the actual taste is far from traditional. I guess its due to ingredients. Tried 6 different dishes and chanahi and uzvar was the best one.
Great place to spent with family and delicious food to eat..
Music, food, service; I enjoyed everything in my recent visit.
The food was extremely delicious..service was prompt and friendly
I loved it there. Everything was perfect. We tried almost all the food and everything was so fresh and tasty.
I don t recommend herring under a fur coat - there is a fur coat, you have to look for a herring for a long time. Unreasonably expensive. In fact, the price of $50+types is the price for one. We didn t take any coffee, tea or alcohol. 2 stars for the food partly due to the price.
Lovely staff, decent food, memorable atmosphere but why ignore your customers? So hard to get their attention for service.
Amazing
The best Ukrainian restaurant in Toronto!
Everything is very tasty! Fast service and friendly staff.
Great restaurant. Awesome service and the food was delicious and came quickly. The atmosphere and community of the restaurant is great and I enjoyed my experience there. I came from out of town and would go back! Vegetarian options: Plenty of dishes without meat Dietary restrictions: You can customize your meal if you need to Parking: Residential streets nearby with parking paid/free depending on the time and day
Excellent Ukrainian restaurant.
My family and I were pleasant to have a flavourful Ukranian lunch with a great service. We are planning to go back for dinner soon. Food
Awesome
The atmosphere is quite good, due to the whole decoration and the topic. However, the food spoils everything. We ordered meat pilmeni and herring. The first thing seemed like they had bought it frozen because it didnt have a good flavor even the bread dough wasn t delicious. The ones from Yummy Market are much better. About the herring, it has to have an elastic texture and a fresh flavor, since it looked like it had been boiled. Overall we were disappointed. We paid $80 not to enjoy it, plus we took everything with us so we didnt enjoy the atmosphere. Honestly, Id rather go to the Yummy market and spend that money there and Ill eat much better. About the service, it is quite friendly and helps you with questions, however, a little more liveliness would be needed when it comes to recommending, the waiter seemed very peaceful.
A real Ukrainian inn in Etobicoke Toronto, everything is great
Dumplings are just the bomb
It is very nice to visit an institution in another country that reminds you of your native Ukraine. Thank you very much for being you
Awesome fresh food we got for take out. A private function was being held.
What a fabulous gem! Went for lunch with some friends - such great food! Even for vegetarians. Really great atmosphere. Looking forward to returning.
We went with our friend vlad as he wanted us to explore the Ukrainian food and it s must visit for the feel good factor. Try reservations prior on weekends
Super
