First in years I found this Fish and Chips place. Very well made Fish. Chips were NOT GREASY at all. I highly recommend the place. Lady serving us was very thorough and helpful. I will revisit the place. Although we did Take out but restaurant was very clean 👍

True mom and pop vibe! These are the places we need to support as much as we can. I'm not a big fish and chips guy, I gotta be in the mood... Which I was that day. Prices are very reasonable and portions are good, not that gross here's a million soggy fries fish and chips places. Currently this is my fav fish and chips and service from what I assume was the owner was great. I want to say this was Halibut... It's whichever was a smidge pricier. We will be back 200% great work keep It up. Lol one of the review questions asks if it's vegetarian... It's fish and chips, fish is in the name!!!
it’s unfortunate because this place used to be my favourite up until recently the quality of the service has declined substantially. went in with my partner for a lunch date and spent over $40 between the both of us and was treated with the utmost disrespect I have ever received in a restaurant in my entire life. I literally felt like getting my money back and throwing away all the food because of the bitter experience. THE EXPERIENCE: Btw i used to be a regular customer visiting at least 3 times a week. this is why this last experience surprised me. Upon ordering and after paying i requested extra tartar sauce and was greeted with a “WHAT??!! “not a “pardon me?” i was so surprised and disgusted by the response my partner had to repeat my question for me. Being a regular customer, this made me really uncomfortable as I was not used to this. To ease the tension I joyfully said “it’s been a long time, eh?” I kid you not the lady basically shrugged her shoulders and said, “ oo yea” in the most disrespectful way possible. After taking our seats the server placed the order on our tables along with our utensils. Being a regular customer I had forgot to tell the lady I used plastic utensils because of dirty forks in the past. So when she placed the metal ones down I had kindly requested plastic ones, only to be answered disrespectfully with rolled eyes. It gets worse, after returning with the plastic utensil the lady places the fork down on the table and she makes the fork touch the table. Im a hygienic individual, so I point this out to her and she is PISSED! she aggressively grabs the fork in front of my partner and other customers, embarrassing me while heading back to the counter. As i’m sitting waiting for my clean plastic fork she heads towards the counter and she tells me to get up and get my own fork I kid you not! I then act like I didn’t hear her because this is extremely disrespectful on her part. She eventually sees that i’m not having it and angrily hands me my plastic fork. THE FOOD: Although the food was made well, it was not made with love and I COULD INDEED TELL THE DIFFERENCE! This was go to spot but the TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE RUINED IT ALL!! extremely disappointed. If you guys want the best fish in chips in Canada, then you NEED to check out OLDE YORK FISH N CHIPS. They have the BEST FOOD AND SERVICE! I hope this helps cheers!
Been going there since I was a kid, I’m now retired. Rob and Sandra are so friendly, comfortable atmosphere. They serve fresh fish and great food over all. I highly recommend eating there the prices are very reasonable. I’m actually going there today.
Most fish lovers know that it's rather difficult to find a decent Fish & Chips restaurant, let alone fresh Halibut. Well, if you reside in the north end of Etobicoke, you will be glad to know that there exists a hidden gem of a 15-year restaurant that serves a delicious Halibut & Chips for under $14 and I kid you not. The halibut is very fresh, moist and yummy and quite possibly the best this side of Britain - and so are the fresh-cut fries. Add a couple of bucks and get a coleslaw plus pop - can you beat that these days? I've already been here several times and will keep coming back with my friends. Oh yeah, that reminds me - I should tell you that Tuesdays are discount days for seniors! And final words of wisdom: just remember to take cash with you.

A fish and chip hidden gems. Everything is prepared when order, the fish is crispy amd hot, flies (not home made), but very crispy and tasty. Have halibut lunch combo with coleslaw and drink for $16 with tax. Would definitely going back for more. Side note, i went there at 1230, and customers keep coming in non stop from the moment i am there to the moment i leave.

This is not a complicated place, it has an old diner-style charm to it. I absolutely love it here. I ve only been 3 times but the food is to die for. I orde the double halibut. It is worth the expense.

2023 May - Great fast and efficient service, awesome Fish and Chips, Halibut. Even the coleslaw tastes delicious. Nothing more really to say. Its better to take-out but they do have dine-in tables available. CASH ONLY. Yummy yummy yum

Fish was thin. Batter was good. Fish Size was ok. French fries were lousy. We threw them all in the garbage. Some reheated and mixed with fresh batch, will not go back. Strictly cash deal.

One of the best fish and chips I ve had. We ve been in the neighborhood for 14 years. I don t know why we waited so long to try this place out. It s amazing for the price, quality and quantity, unbelievable!!!!

This place is legit one of the best fish and chips you will find in Toronto. We drive 20 mins weekly to get their haddock special which is very reasonably priced. The food is always super fresh, not greasy and you can tell the oil is cleaned regularly. The staff is extremely friendly and the service is next level. Highly recommend!

Just a solid fish and chips joint. Good food for a good price, the only thing to watch out for , is that they are cash only, so make sure to bring cash.

Very bad smelly place. Not a good behavior when dealing with customers. The payment is only by cash and there is no bank near the restaurant. Bad service and no washroom is working. We will never visit this place again
Best fish n chips in Etobicoke
Food was superb. Service was superior. Atmosphere hearkened back to yesterday but worked. Only flaw is they are cash only. Not really a flaw but people should be aware.

This was my worst fish and chip place I have ever been at. The halibut was real fishy tasting and the chips are frozen not fresh. And packaged tarter sauce , not fresh. Staff wasnt friendly either. As we left we noticed a dead squished mouse in between the doors that you could tell was there for a long time. Wish we noticed this when we went got there rather than leaving. I would never go back there again.
Our first experience at dining in was a nice place very small but still very good. It s nothing flamboyant or exotic but just a nice little restaurant, the fish and chips are amazing and well priced highly recommend this little mom and pop shop. talk to the cook waitress and was shocked that they ve been in business for the past 60 years got to be doing something right. Our building gets the Fish And Chips done by this place and they ve always been good. We live in a seniors residence and they supply us with all our Fish And Chips and I am talking 60 orders. Highly highly recommended this place.

The food is really good, consistent, simple, and not fussy. Proper fish and chips. The fish never tastes off or fishy, just clean and tasty, and also moist. Chips are straight fresh fried potatoes about half a cm in thickness. If youre going to introduce any perso or kids to fish, this is what you give them. The atmosphere is diner/chippy so no frills, but about what you expect. You dont go for the atmosphere, you go for the food. My in laws introduced me to this place and have been going there for over 40 years or more, and we get take out when my MIL asks for it. Nowhere else in north Etobicoke is acceptable to her.
I called the restaurant to ask if the fish they serve is wild caught or farm raised. He had no clue. How do you not know where your product is coming from ?
Best fish and chips in town hands down. Been coming here since I was a kid, Im 36 now and its still probably one of my top 5 places to eat of all time.
The food here is really great! They got thick cut fries that are not soggy nor oily. And the fish is delicious too. The batter is just right. The portion is just right for one person and compared to other fish and chips place, the price in this store is affordable and reasonable. And oh, I love their gravy too! Its not salty. Just right. We will definitely go back.

I was here with my father in law. We had the halibut and chips with coleslaw. The food was great!! The servings are perfect size. I ate every single bite! The staff is super friendly! I told my family and we will be going back today! Definitely recommend!

I grew up in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia and knew when I saw a photo of the menu (and the fact it s cash only) this place had to be good. And it was - Hands down the best fish and chips I ve had in Toronto. I got the haddock combo and everything was spectacular, the fish was fresh tasting, batter was crispy and perfectly fried, and fries had that necessary crunch . I will be making a stop here every time I m in the area from now on.

I ordered for our Good Friday family dinner. Everyone raved and said it was the best Fish and Chips theyve ever had . Luckily I ordered extra fish because most had a second, some a third piece of fish, and fries were nicely done also. No leftovers. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed, and everyone said for all they ate, they werent stuffed. The food wasnt heavy with grease, and the batter was light. Most enjoyable! A neighbor asked how it went. I explained and she and her husband went to eat in the next evening and they also said it was the best Fish and Chips ever. Thanks for making our Easter Dinner great!
I was looking online for a good fish and chip store as my store of choice for 50 years closed permanently due to retirement... well deserved cheers Jimmy. So I found Martingrove fish and chips, read all the reviews on Google and placed an order.The fish and chips were done perfectly, albeit I could have ordered more fries they were that good ,the coleslaw was ok but the price was the best part.They also offer in store dinning and its cash only .So yes I have found my new home for fish and chips

Cash only! 4 stars for the fish, but taking a star off for such a small portion for the price (9.95 for 1 piece of halibut) The coleslaw and fries are not worth it. I would just stick with the fish. The options are either halibut or haddock
I have been coming to Martin Grove Fish and chips since I was 15 years old. I am now 70 :). Best fish and chips I have ever found. I no longer live in Toronto, but every time I visit I have to have Halibut and chips .at least once.
My Daughter and I really enjoyed the Fish And Chips. Very reasonable in price. We will go again

It looks ho-hum, but the food is PHENOMENAL! The owner is super nice, service quick. Important detail that shows about the place: washroom is clean and tidy, and theres toilet paper. Its a simple place in the best way possible - it does one thing, and it does it BEST. Were fans of fish and chips, and we dont remember a place that was better. Even the poutine was so good my kids asked for a 2nd plate as dessert. This is a place I wouldve never found without google maps score, and are we glad we found it! Rack one more 5 star review!

Added to the order shrimps and scallops, fries, and onion rings for someone who didnt want anything...well, that someone ate the whole thing including the cole slaw that came with the halibut special and enjoyed it! The halibut was cooked to perfection...not greasy and nice crisp on the batter. Try this place. I dont think youll be disappointed. Support your local business. Note that this establishment is CASH ONLY Its an old school fish and chips place situated in a sleepy residential neighbourhood The shop is clean and appropriately decorated with a nautical theme The service is friendly, helpful and very efficient The Halibut (8.95) and the coleslaw (0.95 for small) taste great. I am impressed by how moist the fish is Sadly, the fries are an afterthought, but this is a general Toronto thing because I have yet to find any eatery in Toronto that makes good fries

We went there this past week and decided to eat in. The service was extremely slow as there was only ONE person working in the entire restaurant. We required a high chair but we had to get it ourselves from downstairs where the washroom were. I asked the lady if we can have water with our meal to which she replied that the meal already comes with a drink; I understand we had already purchased our drinks but we needed glasses of water as is provided at any restaurant. She gave me styrofoam cups with water or from the tap. It was quite busy here and if I were to go back I would only order takeout. There are many other great fish and chips spots in the area, think I will check them instead. Overall, would not recommend due to lack of customer service.

Fantastic! I have been 4 times and everytime is great. Only $8.95 for haddock and fries. Theyre never cheap with the tartar sauce and vinegar. The place is clean but small and has really nice indoor seating as well as a park next door. Fries are some of the best Ive ever had and the fish is in my top 3! I would highly recommend!

I got the halibut and poutine! The fish was nice and flaky on the inside with a nice batter on the outside. The fries were also nice and crispy and the gravy delicious Id recommend coming to this place for some fish and chips!
