Omg was so disappointed today from the food i got today maybe the cook was having a bad day the oxtail only had 4 pieces and they were tough as hell your rice and peas was so bad tasting even my daughter was like is this supposed to be Jamaican food i will never order again

Food didnt taste very fresh.. Rice and peas did not have much flavor and alot of the rice was overcooked and very hard. I would not recommend.

The food here was really good. I had the curry goat and rice. It was served with a coleslaw type of salad that was really tasty! Side dish of plantain and dumpling was also good. To top it off, the Corona with which I washed it all down, was a nice cold brewsky. I would totally come back here for food next time Im in the area. Owner was friendly, service was a little slow at the beginning (island time?) But once he got to us, was very attentive and quite pleasant to chat with. If good island food is more important than a fancy establishment, then youll love this restaurant If I knew the food was gonna be so good, I would have totally taken a picture!

The food is taste gives the back home flavor I can tell you not many of those in Toronto

I was a regular that got food here all the time, but I m going to stop coming here now because for some reason the food doesn t taste the same anymore. I ve noticed how there s new chefs at the back. The rice and peas is very mushy. Just the overall taste quality is not the same anymore. I ll be going to Mr jerk on derry and goreway from here on out.

Came as a big group. Took a while to get food and drinks. Nice vibe though! Food was good.

Bought liver breakfast. Its the worse thing I ever buy. Portion very small and price very expensive. All I tasted was pepper . Please this was a disgrace

The curry chicken roti was an epic failure. The Curry chicken wasnt Curry, it was stew chicken with carrots folded in a paratha (buss-up- shot) roti The roti looked like a foot folded It together. A dalpuri roti would work best and real Curry chicken!

My colleagues, and I got the jerk chicken dinners. Chicken was very flavorful, but it was only drumsticks, no thighs. Rice was moist, and the coleslaw was good. But they forgot my plantain. All in all, it was a very good spot.

I ordered the curry goat, and got a bunch of meatless bone. I will not be back.

Large jerk w cole slaw and oxtail sauce and a Ting. Perfect. Nice folks on the cash.

Customer service is ON POINT. Food is clearly cooked daily. Portions are more than sufficient, I can never finish my plate. Janet is a true gem, the sweetest woman I know. If youre having a bad day she has 2 things to make it better; a great plate of food and a smile. The curry goat and fish are my go to orders. The fried dumplings are to die for. I live an hour away and, this is the only Caribbean restaurant that can have my money. To top it off, in the summers they are open on Sundays, for those hot days I dont feel like cooking. Spotlight is the place to be.

The owner gave me a plate of food on the house. All I can say is: AMAZING!!! FULL OF FLAVOUR. Definitely will be going back for meals. I had the fried snapper fish with rice and peas and steam veggies. Incredible!

**A HIDDEN GEM** I ve had my fair share of Jamaican food in my lifetime and this place is AMAZING. You have to try their curry goat. Please believe me when I tell you, it was the best curry goat I ve ever had. I ve had their ackie and salt fish and other dishes and not ONE disappointed. Please never change your Chief or your ingredients!!!

A wonderful experience. Excellent service and delicious food. I ordered beef tail stew and head curry. The meat literally melts in your mouth. The empanadas are also delicious.

Never disappointed with this place food is great, and staff are always extremely pleasant. Ackee and salfish, is good, thats one of my favorites normally get that with the fried dumplin, regardless all their dishes are nice.

Came to this restaurant at around 3pm. Fried chicken with rice and peas and oxtail sauce on the rice. Bravo Plus coleslaw. Amazing. Plus World Cup game live on tv. Will return.

This place is great for Jamaican Jerk Chicken. I ve tried it from several places but this one was the best.

They need to pay great attention to customers order, if something was ordered and its not available please notify your customer asap no matter how busy you are. If someone doesnt like sauce all over the food and request was made. Thats the way it must be delivered. Great tasting food.

The lady who took my order was not friendly whatsoever. I ordered a medium curry goat with fried chicken and she literally gave me bones and no veg or coleslaw on the side. Not worth $20, 0/10 would not recommend. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Food is pretty good but their service unfortunately does not match seems if youre not Jamaican or west indies they dont seem to pay much attention or be very bothered of the fact that theres another customer waiting to order while their busy having a conversation with their friends than to serve another customer.

Real Authentic Jamaican cuisine. Great customer service and clean place. My favourite place to dine-in or pick-up and go. Keep up the great work guys.

The staff is courteous and the food is authentically Caribbean.

Food is always fresh and full of flavour. The fried chicken is some of the best I ve ever had in taste. Whatever they do to season the fried is unlike any other Caribbean place I ve visited. The rice & peas are just like you d get it in Jamaica. The one women who serves and does cash is extremely nice and caring for her customers. $6 lunch special as well you can never go wrong with that. Overall one of the best places I ve had for Carribbean food in the GTA

This place is great for having your traditional Jamaican breakfast, I ve never seen a Jamaican restaurant that put sweet potatoes and boiled plantain in the provisions, and that s what really keeps me coming back, bc it s very authentic and home style, love it every time, service is good, I strongly recommend

Took my wife and I a longtime before deciding to visit the place but glad we finally did. Food smelt great as you walked in and tasted even better. Good price and they also sell alcohol if just wanting to stop by for a drink etc.

I really wanted to give no stars but it wont allow. I bought some breakfast from this restaurant ackeensaltfish with food , y did the dumpling almost choke me from it being so dry & they barely put any ackee with the food. I didnt even finish the food I just throw it away.

Really good Jamaican food. I usually come here for the lunch specials for about $6 + pretty cheap considering the food they give you! Love their dumplings and curry goat sauce! The ladies who work there are really friendly!

Just had goat roti and plantain .. roti was served on the side which a pleasant surprise .. the goat was well cooked not too many bones .. it was tasty and not salty .. plantain was ok nothing special .. service was mediocre not pleasant but not rude .. my meal was approximately $15 that included a bottle of water Today I tried the large oxtail dinner .. good size portion although a little salty for me .. person at the counter was more polite but failed to get the order correct .. so sad

I gave them 5 stars originally and now dropped to a one. They constantly give the wrong food. The head chef is rude she argued over the fact that I didnt want chicken foot in my chicken soup. Then she told me that a callaloo pattie was the same as a veggie pattie. Im friggin allergic to callaloo. I will never go there again.

The curry goat was well seasoned but it could be softer, and the food banana & dumplin was cold.

A gem of a place, not so much for the ambience, but the people and most important the food. What a pleasant surprise, gracious hosts and delicious food. Service good as well. The interior I give a 2.5 stars, the service I give 3 stars and the food I give 4.5 stars. Now this is not because I was fooled by natural flavouring, I know what that is like and I could detect and pick out the different components which made up the fabulous gravy. This appears to be the real deal. Ill be back there on my way out and try something new.

Outstanding jerk chicken and the most lovely owner operator! We moved our office 1.5 years ago and my colleagues and I still talk about Spotlights/Janets food at least monthly! We try to take pilgrimages back as often as possible.

First time ordering take out and would not order from here again. For one, how do 2 rotis and 1 fish end up being $50? Second, Im a vegetarian, I specifically asked for one vegetarian roti, come home and both rotis were chicken. So didnt end up eating it. Not impressed at all.

Only got the vegetarian lunch special a few times now. They are a family business and you can tell they really appreciate their customers. Always lots of veggies on it. Extra jerk sauce and gravy is never a problem. Best jerk experience on top of it. Very authentic tasting even without the chicken itself.

The jerk chicken and the chicken curry roti are so tasty and flavorful! The staff are friendly and service was what was expected of a resturant. If you want quality food for a good price, come here!

I dropped by for lunch and Im so glad I did! The food was fresh and extremely tasty! The service was great and I will be coming back again and again!

Came in at lunch around 12:30. Only one employee that I saw working. Stood in a line of 5 customers for 15 minutes minimum. Employee kept fumbling with God knows what for the entire time. No clear menu. Dim to no lighting, period. Lunch menu advertised as 4.99 but doesnt show what is included.

I am new to the GTA, from a small town with plenty of restaurants, but not much authentic Caribbean food. Very fair prices here, for good portions of quality cooking. This place is great, especially if you consider yourself a fan of some good chicken.
