The Olive Restaurant in Etobicoke

I usually dont like giving negative reviews but hope that the owner and manager takes this as a learning opportunity. I arrived at the restaurant thinking quick simple place to get brunch. When I came in around 1:30 pm... no one even greeted me, I sat myself down and for 15 minutes no wait staff came by to my table. The restaurant maybe had not more than 10 peope so it was not even busy. I then grabbed a menu myself and when a waitress finally came by I had to flag her down... even other waitresses serving others made eye contact with me and no acknowledgment of my even existence... not even a friendly attitude. I get it that being a server is a tough job... but that is completely unacceptable as customers chose your establishment expecting at least some friendliness. Anyways I ordered a tradition breakfast... who can screw that up right? Well it was... 3 eggs were okay but the bacon was black and hard to chew. Also, its supposed to include coffee as stated in their menu but they still charged me for it... I didnt have time to inquire as I had to get back to work so I let it go. Even when I paid... the waitress left the credit card machine with me so I waited for a few minutes for her to come back but then another waitress told me to leave the machine without even looking at me just kept walking on. I even left a good tip. I left thinking, What did I do to upset these people?... I was quiet the entire time and never even spoke rudely or showed any attitude. Again... this needs to be written so they can learn from it and treat their customers better. I will not be returning back to this restaurant... there are many better options in the area, especially being near the mall. I had wished I had gone to another restaurant where you get better food and service. Thank you for taking time reading this review.

Small town diner vibe. The staff have stayed the same over the years I ve been going and continue to look after my daughter and I like family. Highly recommend. Food

The breakfast was all so overdone. The bottom of my eggs were so overdone i couldnt cut them with a fork i had to use a knife. The bacon turned to dust when i bit into it. Even the potatoes were so black on the bottom tasted like charcoal.

A place to have breakfast but I dont recommend it and I would never go back, they gave my car a ticket for using the parking lot in front of the restaurant, they have a person writing tickets in the parking lot and if he doesnt see you he fines you, Don t forget Always report that you have a car before entering if you do not want to be fined

Always amazing service and great portions

Went for breakfast and was looking forward to my meal as I had already viewed the menu beforehand online I ordered the avocado toast. On the menu it describes smashed avocado with sautéed onions and tomatoes. What I got was avocado that was in chunks and raw onions and tomatoes. Very disappointed Service wasn t much better. Took a long time to get our order taken. Not very attentive and both waitresses we had were not the most welcoming. Also took too long to get the bill Overall ,was quite an underwhelming experience

Good breakfast. Not a fan of the sausage but good otherwise. Weird liver and onions comes with no gravy . been eating this for 40 years and only a few places have no gravy. Cost saving ?? If not ask if you want with or without .

The only thing I could say that might need some improvement is the service in the morning seems to be lacking slightly... Since The Grille has closed down, this has become a little more popular for its All Day Breakfast -The place is clean (some renos) -Plenty of free parking -Food and Service are good I love the Hungry Man meal 2 pancakes 2 Slices of toast 3 eggs Bacon Sausage Ham (I sub this for more bacon)

My mid afternoon breakfast was very delicious. I had the French Toast and bacon. I enjoyed a bottomless cup of coffee. My server Bella is smiling, friendly, knowledgeable and VERY customer/people oriented!! The price-point for my meal and coffee was fine. This establishment is very clean, spacious and well ventilated. The womens washroom was clean and well-stocked! My visit to your restaurant was ENHANCED by my server BELLA! Thank you.

Have been here a handful of times now and will continue to do so. The staff are exceedingly friendly and remember what you have ordered or liked, which I found very impressive. Prices are fair and portions are great.

Today we arrived at 10:30 we wanted to have breakfast, the service took 10 minutes but the waitress arrived and threw the cutlery on the table and told us very rudely what are they going to have, I said coffee and my boyfriend was asking me if I wanted juice, to which the The waitress answered okay, juice and coffee and left, she didnt let us finish ordering the drinks. I know we all have bad days, but she should do everything she can to improve her work. My boyfriend also wanted coffee and water. Thanks to her. I wont stop by that place again.

So i was at your restaurants and after waiting a long time one of your staff member rudely responded for no reason .

Brought my kids in for breakfast today, I think my 3year old may have a crush on the lovely waitresses because he s still talking about how fun breakfast was, lol. Thank you for the great food and service, & for taking the time out of your busy day to still talk and interact with my kids! You made their day.

Been coming here for many years now, the staff is great and the menu options are pretty amazing. You can get dessert, breakfast, lunch and much more, they also have a full bar, which is great for the evenings. I bring my family and friends here and we never had any issues as far as the food or service. Keep up with the good work!

The server seemed somewhat impatient. Taking the dishes from our table while some of us were involved with our meal. Its going to be a while before we head back there.

We were going to be in the area and used Google to see what family type restaurant that was NOT fast food. Not knowing the exact time we would be arriving, would they have food for example dinner time at 4 pm. They had it all, not a fancy place but large enough and extremely clean the bathrooms were clean. Had a Caesar salad to start and it was a very good size and they used real bacon strips in the salad, not just those tiny bacon (if they are bacon) pepper sized pieces but real slices - delicious. My turkey club had big pieces of white turkey following out of it and by wife had a chicken with salad combo and it was the same. Good real food, clean and reasonable priced and friendly service - what are you looking for, that The Olive doesnt have? Parking: Plenty of free parking

This is our weekly breakfast place. Staff and food is awesome. Unlike so many other restaurants, they keep prices reasonable. Staff is so friendly and kind.

Very attentive service even when the place was at full capacity. Great brunch food and a welcoming atmosphere. The food was so tasty, I ate it all up before I remembered to take a pic of it all first. I enjoyed the eggs benedict with Peameal Bacon and a side of fruit salad.

Just left after taking my dad and husband for Father s Day. Have been here quite a few times and have ALWAYS enjoyed the food and service. Can I just do a shout out to all the staff. These guys are SLAMMED today! I mean really SLAMMED. People lined up out the door for the whole hour we were there. The wait staff were absolutely incredible. Did we have to wait a few extra minutes, sure. But the girls were amazing, calm, professional and knocked it out of the park. Thanks for a great breakfast and your patience with everyone.

Took my Aunt there the Sat before Mothers day ..we did not finish our meal they hurry us because there was a long line of people waiting to get in...we felt so embarrassed....will never go back

Today we visited The Olive as a family for the first time. Our experience was so wonderful, and way beyond any expectation. Greta, our server, took such great care of us. The food came out quickly, it was fresh and delicious. The coffee was hot and refills flowed. The entire staff seemed happy and was kind to us. We look forward to our next visit!

Even when the place is busy, the service is quick. Food is great too.

Lovely spot for breakfast. Weve driven past a number of times and today we went in for a late breakfast. The portions are huge, and everything was perfectly done. The prices are extremely reasonable and the waitress was just lovely. The service was fast and friendly. The dining room was spotless. We are looking forward to trying other menu offerings.

I used to love this place but the quality has gone down. Ordered medium poached eggs and got eggs that were completely dry. Stale French fries. Ketchup packets were given in a BALL because they are all stuck together with some sticky substance. Do better!

Hollandaise sauce was clumpy and tasteless. Service was bad, we felt rushed despite place being almost empty. Some items were added to my bill that I havent ordered, so check your receipt if you go there. I wont be returning.

If you feel like a great breakfast, this restaurant is for you. Great bacon and eggs and always generous portions. The waffles and pancakes are also awesome if you feel like a sweet treat for breakfast. Ive also had lunch at the Olive a few times and I was surprised at the amazing selection of dishes. The prices are reasonable too. Its a very friendly place and everything is high quality. Free parking too! I highly recommend this neighbourhood gem.

UNSANITARY NOT CLEAN. FELT SICK TO MY STOMACH I found hair in my potatoes, I didnt end up eating and just waited for my friend to finish. He chose not to eat the potatoes in his meal. I wasnt compensated or told hey can we replace that for you, I didnt chose to overreact like the average person would. But thats a dirty hair strand in your food, thought it would never happen but I was wrong. Old and outdated decor. Just overall a horrific experience. They have video footage of the incident, I didnt even touch my food and clearly it was right in front of me. Not sure how waitress didnt see it. Felt like throwing up. I wasted my time and money buying friend food here while I waited and did nothing. thats my experience. Also the bacon is cheap and the potatoes are horribly season and prepared. Wouldnt reccomend going here at all. AS you can see the owners response below, he didnt tell me to contact the location to receive my refund and instead escalated the situation by mentioning reviews on my profile that have nothing to do with their restaurant. My account is mainly for bad experiences, to warn people. I eat at many place but the service or food isnt even above par all the times so I write a review to help other people. Why would I not write other reviews to warn the public. Youre reply shows how unprofessional your business is. You care more about being right and pointing fingers, I care more about people not having to have my horrible experience at the places Ive dined at. Shame on you. Learn to run a business instead of trying to pick fights. You cant take criticism. Come to my house I will give you potatoes with my hair in it and thn tell you to put money in my pocket. Thn when you complain i will tell you that its just a bad review and not compensate you. Look at your couple month old reply, I still remember the bad experience you dont. You need to try to not be bully and focus on whats more important customer service. Thats why my reviews have over 30,000 views, its to call call out bad businesses. Shame on you and your staff. I ordered pancakes thru UberEats. I wanted plain pancakes but adding a fruit (at additional cost) was required. The pancakes were burnt on one side and gooey in the area around any (unwanted) strawberries. I am giving full stars for service and atmosphere because the Uber was fine and I enjoyed dining at home and there s no N/A option

A good all-day basic breakfast spot with ample seating. The server was very nice and made accommodation for my dairy allergy. Surprisingly, a non-dairy breakfast is a challenging find, but if you ask then they will do their best to accommodate you. My one qualm was the lack of alternative milks for drip coffee - an almond, oat, soy or cashew would have been nice, but I get the feeling the regular crowd doesnt opt for these. So I can see why they might not have it on hand. I would happily pay for such an option. This place has generous potions but is no frills. I had two poached eggs, 2 slices of rye, potatoes and ample bacon. It set me back around $12 CAD. It was incredibly filling. Dietary restrictions: They dont have alternative milks for coffee. Only dairy based creamers.

This diner serves the classics. Good portion and good pricing. The soups are always delicious. Staff is fast and efficient.

Don t believe but you must be aware of when they will serve you on the counter or on the table. Don t go for their looks, you must be aware of your self respect while you are getting served. Worst server s ever I have come across with they don t know how to serve. Person who want to get serve better I will recommend not to go until or unless you are fond of getting served disrespectful.

I ordered from here via Skip the dishes. They did not read the notes and did not add extra mayo. The fries were soggy and cold. The Godiva cake was just chocolate cake. Very disappointed. :(

Terrible place and they still give tickets. The owner doesnt care if they give their customers tickets for parking. Dont go to this plaza to eat or buy anything in these stores.

Food delivery timing has improved immensely in the past month. Now mostly the order will be ready before you get there.

I can only share this for breakfast. It was a tasty breakfast, nothing special or unique; but thats exactly what I was there for. A simple breakfast and it delivered. Ill be back if Im in the area and looking for a solid breakfast experience.

So, Im giving this place only 3 stars because while the food is not bad, there is an issue with the price we were charged. We were there last Sunday and ordered the traditional breakfast with two eggs for $11.49. The menu clearly says coffee or tea extra after 9:00am Monday to Friday. When we got the bill, we were charged extra for two coffees and when I brought it to our servers attention, she said that it was after 9 on the weekends as well. I pointed this out to her that it was on the menu and website, and she did not even offer to get the manager. Also, the time stamp on the bill said 11:40am, and we arrived there well before 9am on Sunday. Needless to say, we will not be returning here and I suggest everyone who goes to this restaurant, to be aware of any additional charges because the information is incorrect.

Amazing place food could look more appealing

Great food, the service is excellent. I ate breakfast and lunch here on and off as my job had me in the area for 3 months. I still drop by for a meal if Im in the area.
