2350 Lake Shore Blvd W, Etobicoke, ON M8V 1B6, Canada
Refined Spanish plates including an extensive tapas menu served in a compact, contemporary setting.
Food was salty and lacked remarkable flavouring, which we were hoping for. Thankfully we left as restaurant was filling up. Small footprint led to an inability to enjoy a quiet dinner. Perhaps owners should cut the Christmas music which was playing too loud and competing with all conversations going on at the same time. Plenty of food was served. Not an issue. Drinks were great. Food flavor, however, was wanting and noise level was too high.
Best Spanish restaurant ever. I used to go to a couple of Spanish restaurants in Toronto, they were good, but not as good as LaVinia. The moment you walk in you feel you are part of the LaVinia family. The staff is very friendly, and even the Chef comes out to check how’s the food. I’ve been in Spain several times, and LaVinia brought me back to those trips. Excellent food, excellent portions, and excellent price. I will definitely come back and recommend it to everyone.
AAA This is like a hidden gem in Etobicoke. I had no idea it even existed and had such a great time, food, exceptional, Fernando, the owner is an absolute gentleman and attentive. He knows when to pull in and pull out this guy gets it, service, exceptional and the food to die for.. for sure my to go place it’s like one of those places you kind of find on the outskirts of Manhattan in Brooklyn that if you know you know, and if you don’t too bad
We had high hopes for this restaurant given the reviews and recommendations but left disappointed. So let’s start with the good… the service was great, and the staff were really attentive. I also didn’t mind the presentation of the meals. The restaurant was small and intimate, but the sound didn’t carry which allowed for my partner and I to have conversations without yelling. The not so good was the actual food. For the price you pay, we expected more (not in terms of quantity, but the quality)… The order: - Pulpo a la Gallega - Octopus was overcooked and rubbery. We enjoy octopus at other restaurants and even when we travel so it was a bit disappointing. - Croquetas de Cangrejo - these could have been a bit more crunchy on the outside but I didn't mind the flavour, though my partner didn’t like the taste, he thought the crab wasn’t fresh. - Paella de Marisco - incredibly salty and lacked any other flavour. The seafood also tasted stale/frozen. Also it did not have a burnt bottom, so it was more like a risotto. Didn’t finish this due to the salt. The chef came out and tried to explain why the meal was salty, but an explanation really doesn’t justify the amount in the meal. It also didn’t help there was no other flavour present. If you’re using seafood (which can be naturally salty), then reduce the additional salt? He offered us free dessert, but honestly we were kind of turned off by the previous courses. Maybe it was an off day, but I would not recommend based on the food we had. Potentially the non-seafood dishes are better, but this ain’t it. Overall food lacked flavour, and seafood wasn’t cooked correctly or tasted fresh.
We had a dinner for 4 on a Wednesday evening at this Spanish Cuisine restaurant. Small, nicely decorated place with great Sangria. A variety of Paellas were available one being a seafood selection which we ordered. Paellas take 40 mins to prep so order that first then tapas. Tapas are amazing and flavourful here. We had a variety and even ordered some twice as we couldn’t get enough. Portions are not bad, service was unhurried, attentive and skillful.. we noticed they prepared beverages as well and performed table side service, serving the first helping of Paella when it was ready. During our meal, we had the pleasure of speaking to the Chef/Owner who came by our table and after we asked, he happily shared how he prepped the food we were enjoying. Friendly and hospitable true and true! Definitely returning to this great restaurant.
First time at an authentic Spanish restaurant. Had seafood risotto, sausage & ratatouille, and soup of the day (carrot and ginger). I imagine the style and flavour to be true to its roots. Noticeably fresh ingredients, well plated, and great service. Would've preferred stronger flavour, but food was good as is. Under $100 meal for two, call it fair value. Overall good experience. Would recommend, but would not repeat. 4 stars
This restaurant is a hidden gem. The food was amazing! The paella was so tasty and the quantity is a lot. The sauteed mushroom, chicken croquettes, and arugula pear salad were all fantastic. I hope this restaurant stays in the neighbourhood for a long time.
Absolutely the best Spanish restaurant in Ontario. Friendly staff and delicate service. The chef comes out and greets every guest. This is very unusual these days in Toronto. It just adds extra detail that the chef really do care about and appreciates his guests. The food was exceptional. Nothing unconventional, sticking to the authenticity. It’s very hard to find a restaurant who has strong fundamentals and does a good job executing traditional dishes. Definitely recommended and this place will be one of my go-to places.
I travelled to Spain/portugal for 3 weeks, the paella here beats ANY paella I had during my trip! Some other dishes are average though.. Owner/chef is super nice, so is the waitress :) Food : 5/5
Parking: The service was great. Food
Very delicious food!
Best med in Toronto! Jamie and the family are so amazing Thank you for the amazing hospitality for our party! Food
Arrived in operating hours but is closed already and no one inside
You feel the same experience as if you were in Spain. Family owned and managed.
Nice experience! The paella was missing the soccarat :)
The potatoes (both bravas and in the tortilla) were hard. The croquettes are 4 per serving at a very high price, the mussels passable at best. Main dishes we only tried a pasta dish that looked like the one at school, we didnt get to try more, but if your intention is to eat tapas this place is not worth it. If you know Spanish food and you are expecting to remember it, you are going to be disappointed. The people and the atmosphere are very good.
Little restaurant that packs a delicious punch. Celebrated here with the family and were delightfully impressed by some of the dishes. Ivana was our server and she made our visit great. Very knowledgable and personable. The head chef himself came out to check on the guests as well. Keep it up!
Great service, yummy food and tasty sangria ! Great night out with friends
Based on previous reviews, I was expecting a much more flavourful meal. The grilled calamari were great however the seafood paella was tasteless with the shrimp, scallops and calamari that looked and tasted like they came from a frozen combo package from a local grocery store. Very disappointed, especially for the price and expectations! The food did not match the comments of existing reviews. Atmosphere-very intimate but extremely noisy. Had trouble carrying on a conversation at the table. Even had trouble hearing the waiter (and I don t have a hearing g problem).
The food was ok, nothing mind-blowing. I found it to be salty. Service and restaurant culture was terrible. My sister ordered the sea bass specialty for the night, which the server said was deboned. However, my sister found three bones, one of which got stuck to her throat. When we advised the server about it, what she said dumbfounded me. She said it s normal and it happens all the time. Like what!? No apology, and she brushed it off like nothing? She said she would inform the chef. A warning would have been helpful if people had experienced this all the time. Overall, this ending wasnt what we expected for the price we paid. First and last in this place. Many more excellent restaurants around the area are better priced, better tasting and, most importantly, better customer experience.
The vibes in the restaurant were super classy and intimate. However there was no air conditioning or fans, so it was a bit hot. We also did not enjoy the sangria or the main meals (paella). The food and drinks were very very disappointing. The tapas were good. The paella portion size was big, I just wish it tasted good. Our waitress was amazing, she knew the menu really well, made great suggestions, and was really patient with our big indecisive group.
Great Spanish fare with several kinds of delicious paella, risotto and many choices of tapas. Great service as well.
When for a romantic anniversary dinner. We were no disappointed. Everything was just right. Bread with garlic aioli amazing, salmon carpaccio such a yum light bite, ham croquettes so creamy, chorizo with white beans epic, risotto so good, lamb chops made me cry. The art it really beautiful as well. Thank you Julia Out serve and chefs.
Chef Fernando and His Son Jamie Stole my Gold Chain. Father and Son Both are thieves entered my unit twice without my Consent. They Happened to purchase the Building and the very next day they tried to Jack the rent. DONT EAT HERE!!!! Food is Expensive and Not tasting GOOD. Also since I have observed them since 2021 They never Make anything Fresh The Food is Always Stale, A lot of People Have Gotten Food Poisoning. So if you like to be sick and be Grateful to Spanish Food. This is the place for you. Not to mention the Attitude these people have. Find out yourself. They are Robbers the food price is So expensive so they can sell you cheap food and Drive Fancy cars themselves. I wish they shut down soon and May God Save The people Having Dinner here.
If you want to enjoy an excellent dinner, visit Lavinia .A wonderful chef as well as the attention of the waitresses .A very cozy room to enjoy with the family .
The paella was great but I don t recommend ordering too many apps. The garlic shrimp, etc. were very mid
Seems like a small family owned restaurant. The food is overall good but definitely some obvious misses. The paella was so oily and didnt have that much loved crunchiness at the bottom of the skillet. Pretty good service and atmosphere.
I loved this restaurant. The whole experience from start to finish was beautifully executed. Tapas style menu with paella and a few meal options. Quaint setting that is clean and warm and inviting. Good and interesting cocktail and wine options. And the food is SPECTACULAR. Everything that came out was outstanding. Significant portions for tapas. And the seafood is fresh. Where the restaurant really excels is in their attention to detail. Those that assisted us were excellent and the chef considered our order and sent the tapas out in an appropriate order, one at a time with one combination of two that worked beautifully together. We were not rushed for a moment (even when we were the last to leave on Good Friday!) and you could tell that the chef (owner maybe?) took such great pride in his work. He was quietly watching to make sure people were happy and came by a few times to talk to us. Just such a beautiful experience. We will definitely be back.
It was very busy, but they accommodated myself and my brother-in-law for dinner. We were dying to try just about everything on the menu. Everything was absolutely excellent and some dishes knocked us on our butts. We were expecting the paella to have crispy rice but that s no need to take away any points as it was still delicious. service was top-notch and having the chef come out and present some dishes was a nice touch. Family owned and run and much better than going deep into the city for a high class meal. The variety here was more than you expect. Our bill was higher than most, as we downed two bottles of wine, while enjoying the very long evening of picking away at beautiful dishes.
This place is just amazing ... best food ever along with outstanding service.
From the time we walked into this hidden jewel we knew we found something special. From the warm welcome at the door to the attentive staff, we were impressed. The food was exceptional, fresh and well presented and the chef came out to make sure everyone was happy with their meal. Definitely will return to try the other menu options.
Good tapas, was better when it opened.
Wonderful experience, the food is amazing and wine selection is unique
Brings me back home.
Food is awesome
Everything was amazing! Staff was friendly and helpful, they always checked if we need anything! Paella and mango cheesecake were amazing. Calamari was perfect - just wow! I have been looking for good spanish restaurants for months and this os the one. This place will be my go to place for sure!
Great dinner. Recommend the scallops, mushroom risotto, and seafood paella. Great atmosphere and service. Perfect for a date night! Food : 5/5
I could talk about my first experience at this place for hours! Came here back in December with my partner to celebrate my birthday and everything was perfect. Our server, although he had pretty much all the tables in the restaurant was impressively very attentive and had great conversation. As a server myself I was admiring the hard work he was putting in to make sure everyone s experience was unique and enjoyable. The chef went around to each table to make sure that his food was tasting fresh and cooked to the customers liking which added a touch you never knew you needed. He and my partner were hitting it off in conversation speaking in Spanish which impressed him and he ended up offering us a free birthday shot which was very kind of him. The food was melt in your mouth greatness. The salmon was to die for, I ve never had salmon so well cooked until this place. Now I can t have salmon anywhere else but here! The chocolate flan Un postre fuera de este mundo!!! Muchísima gracias, we will be back soon!
Great experience and food. Service was wonderful and the food tasted great. On the slightly more expensive side but I feel like the mains (paella and risottos) can easily feed 2 people especially if you also order tapas.
This is a late review but I went to La Vinia restaurant twice in the past years and both times we attended it was incredible. The Restaurant is authentic. You cant go there and not try the Paella. We also had Gazpacho, and Octopus. The food is exquisite and he ambience is wonderful. The Mango Cheesecake is to die for. We always recommend this place to anyone who wants to try authentic Spanish dishes. Keep up the good work!!
My spouse and I came here for an early dinner to celebrate Valentine s Day. We had 4 tapas and they were all delicious and beautifully presented. The service was excellent.
Get the mushrooms.
Went with my parents for the first time with reservations made for 6:30pm so we were seated right away. Very welcoming, polite, put our coats away for us, had an umbrella stand for us also, comfortable enough seating. Only have one type of bottled beer (Modelo) which my dad enjoyed . Mum had a $17 sangria which tasted pretty good. The tapas tasted just ok and the portions are not generous. We were looking forward most to the paella and recommended mushroom risotto and both unfortunately were a fail. The paella lacked seasoning and the lobster in it was not fresh, smelt quite fishy. The recommended mushroom risotto was dry and underwhelming. All the dishes lacked flavour . The intervals between the dishes were quite long and we were grateful for the bread and garlic butter. No one really came in between to check on things or actually ask how the food was and thats probably better. Bill for 4 people was $247.00 plus tips. For the amount and quality of the food i would have to say not worth that much. Was really looking forward to it and wanted to love it but . If you are a hardcore foodie, have eaten much excellent food in many parts of the world and have actually tasted good paella, patatas bravas etc. this food isn t close to cutting it. That said , we can t return or recommend but wish them well.
Great little restaurant!
LaVinia is a superb and authentic Spanish experience. Astonishingly good for a place that is a bit out of the way, it is worth the trip (our friends drove from Lawrence Park). We tried 8 different tapas dishes and top picks were the shrimp dishes, particularly Gambas Salteadas con Setas, the calamari, chorizo with clams and beans, and the scallops (big, plump and perfect). I would have gone with 5 stars for the food if it weren t for the potato dish (spuds not fully cooked) and Paella Valenciana which was a good but a bit mushy compared to what we had in Spain.
Good food
Best paella in Toronto
Not great . Pretty disappointed to be honest . Heard good things
Paella isnt as flavourful as expected. Croquettes were delicious. Overall, the food is ok, but the dishes are on the pricey side.
Just had an incredible dinner. Chef Fernando chose the wine as he is an expert. We had 7 tapas that were all delicious. If you want to teleport to Spain, this is the place. Highly recommend and will be coming back. Gracias!
We come here for paella and octopus. They do not disappoint.
The food and service is amazing. Love the Tapas, catch of the day is also a great choice.
Excellent restaurant, with outstanding spanish food and amazing friendly staff. Chef Fernando came personally to every table to say hi and ask the customers about the food. A true gem.
Been at all best restaurants in the GTA and they were great, however this beautiful restaurant is the very best. Flavour of good is marvellous, ambience magnificent and best service I ve seen ever. Congratulations! Highly recommended
Great atmosphere, old-world mixed with classy cafe; good food, fresh seafood.
To start off, our waiter was 10/10. She was very patient with me and my family as this was our first time going to a Spanish restaurant. She gave us recommendations, explained some of the menu items and didnt rush us to order. The food was decent for its price. We ordered 3 appetizers and 2 mains for 3 people. The octopus was very salty, meatballs were average but the shrimp were nice. We also ordered 2 paella dishes and the full seafood one was great while the other one had dry chunks of chicken. Id recommend ordering the full seafood one (Paella de marisco) All in all, it was a good experience and if I stop by again Ill be sticking to the shrimp, clams and fish options
Very expensive for the portion size. I have had better paella before.
I recently visited this lovely restaurant, and I have to say, it was a truly enjoyable experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. But what really stood out was the hospitality of the chef. They were passionate about their craft and went out of their way to make sure I had a great dining experience. They even took the time to come out and speak with me, which was a really nice touch. And of course, the food was fantastic. Every dish was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. It was clear that the chef put a lot of care and attention into every detail of the meal, from the ingredients to the presentation. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience. The friendly staff, hospitable chef, and delicious food make it a standout. Its the kind of place where you feel right at home, and I cant wait to go back and enjoy another wonderful meal.
Delicious Spanish rice and the cheesecake with manchego cheese is to die for!
We had the pleasure of dining at LaVinia last week. The service was impeccable and the food delicious. The cheesecake dessert was particularly scrumptious.
Came because of stellar reviews and am big paella fan. The paella valenciana was flavourful and worth the hype. Would definitely recommend. However, we found the Fideua was somewhat plain and lacklustre, which was disappointing given the cost.
Great little place makes you feel at home, the chef even came out to check on us. Amazing Mediterranean dishes
Our 3rd time at LaVinia. Excellent service. The quail, lamb shank and chorizo with beans + clams excellent. Chef came out to ask if everything was good. One thing Id like to point out. I eat in restaurants at least 14 days a month due to my work. The v pleasant waitress asked me would u like some flat water? as soon as we got to our table. I assumed she meant tap water. The water came in a small, wide mouth, glass bottle, but not w a lid or cap. It tasted like reg tap water. We also had wine. To our surprise, that water was $7 on our bill. We were never asked if we wanted bottled water, as most restaurants would have phrased it. It tasted like reg tap water, in a refillable bottle. If we are paying $7 for tap water, stick to wine. If that was bottled water, then best to clarify what you r being offered.
good food , good price.
If you like Spanish cuisine, this is the place to go.
white sardines !!! so yummy !!! one paella serves two i wish they told us from the beginning. nice cozy high class family owned restaurant. interesting location.
Always wonderful food and service. One of the few restaurants I don t need to wonder if I ll have a great fine dining experience. Consistently amazing!
Good
Absolutely spectacular!!! Had an authentic Spanish meal and shared a drink with the lovely owners, who are very warm and welcoming. The food is delicious and prepared with joy and passion. I highly recommend it!!
First time to this restaurant last night with a long time business associate and it was fantastic. The Priorat wine was amazing as was the food. Where can I buy that wine? Bravo chef!
Good food and customer service!
Amazing, authentic food. Such friendly staff! Parking: Free street parking after 6pm Food : 5/5 |
Pricey, average to low quality.
Wonderful place! Very good paella, and the mango cheesecake was delicious! Truly autentique Spanish food and excellent service. Highly recommend.
This is an authentic Spanish restaurant that most of the staff, the chef, and guests can speak Spanish natively. However, the food is a little bit too salty for my taste and the seating is too close so its pretty noisy while the restaurant is full.
Lavinia is a wonderful hidden gem on the Lakeshore just west of Park Lawn. This cozy spot has the ambience and Spanish food to make your experience 5 star! We tried salads, chorizo, shrimps w/garlic, meatballs, boquerones and croquettes. The wine was superb. They even surprised us with a candle lit piece of birthday cheesecake! Well definitely be back!
I invited 2 couples to join us for a surprise birthday celebration for my husband. The staff is very friendly and very good at making the experience special! The food never lets us down and having been to Spain, we can attest to the fact that it outshone many of the dishes that we had in Spain! The chef is exceptional! It has become a fovourite of ours and our friends are already saying that they want to come back!!
I went for dinner here last night - this is best Spanish food I ve had since being in Spain, and the sangria is yummy. Very authentic. The service was great as well. Will be back frequently!
Paella is superb. Some of the rice wasnt completely cooked otherwise serving size, seafood portions and presentation was amazing Vegetarian options: Vegan paella Seafood paella is superb
I highly recommend! I grew up in Spain and the one thing I miss is a good Spanish restaurant, this place ticked all the boxes. It is a small and cozy restaurant, the food was amazing and tasted exactly how It does back in Spain. It s a perfect date spot as the tapas are tasty and you get enough to share. We had: - Sangria pitcher - Spanish Omelette - Ham croquettes - Garlic shrimp - Paella Valenciana - Leche Frita We really enjoyed the food and I can t think of anything negative to add to this place. I have tried other Spanish restaurants in Toronto and this one is by far the best I have been to. The chef came out to greet us, which was a wonderful touch. This will become a regular spot for me, which I have found hard to find in Etobicoke.
Authentic food, great service and friendly staff. We will definitely be back.
Best food and service.
My family and I had dinner at this restaurant about a month ago. The food is amazing, freshly made, service was awesome with kind and mindful servers ensuring that we were taken care of throughout our visit. The chef even came out to ask us how the meal was. The experience left us feeling like we were important customers even though this had been our first visit. The only critic would be pricing. Although it was well worth it, it would be difficult to continue to go and maintain a budget. This will be a place we go to again, however may have to be for special occasions. Last point, didnt get her name, when I called last minute for a reservation the sweet lady on the phone did her best and even called me back once she could confirm space for our family. My fault because it was the day of....would recommend you reserve prior to going. The earlier the better!
Great staff
I really wanted to like this place. Their service was really good. The chef also came out a few times to check on tables which is always appreciated. My friend and i got the poached octopus - it was ok. We also ordered the chorizo ratitioue appetizer. It was ok. And we got the seafood paella. The seafood paella was decent but the water that was used in it tasted a bit off-putting. Nothing was bad.
Amazing service. Delicious food!
Could very well be a Top 5, Mediterranean Cuisine, Restaurant in the City of Toronto. Charming, Quiet, 50(?) Seat Establishment that is Family Owned (Garcia Family) and operated.. Spectacular food, the Shrimp and Oyster Mushroom in Saffron and Anise Sauce is mind bending amazing. Ask for more bread to dip into the sauce. Youll thank me. Grilled Calamari, Salmon Carpaccio, all were exceptional. Great for family dinner night, or for romantic dinner. The Head Chef takes the time to touch tables and interact with guests, to see how things are going. Front of House staff are accommodating, kind, epitome of professionalism. In my humble opinion, one of Torontos Best Kept Secrets when it comes to Dining. A Must Visit.
I have already left this review on the OpenTable website. The vegetarian paella is always delicious, also the cheapest in Toronto, being only $25, the price does not have to take away from the good flavor or the good preparation. The service was also very good, both the cooks and the waiters were very nice. I also send a cordial greeting to the cooks.
Tasty food. Its worth the parking trouble.
The paella here is very delicious. We liked it so much that we ordered an additional takeout. The fried milk dessert was very tasty. We also ordered two Sangria. The Spanish decor is classy and pleasant. Our server Julia was very cheerful and gave good recommendations and descriptions of the menu. Will definitely come back.
Lovely place. Had the risotto, very good quality. Tried the fish of the day, and Salmon was cooked perfectly. Found the dishes lacking in flavour, but maybe that cause I like spice. They were cooked perfectly, however, and I would return to the other dishes another time. Lovely ambience!! A quaint, comfy restaurant.
Wonderful food and exceptional service, only downside is lack of parking. Will definitely return.
Beautiful Spanish Restaurant, Loved their paella and coziness of the place itself!
Visited last Valentines Day with my Girlfriend and everything about the experience was outstanding. Seeing as this was months ago, my memory is hazy but the Iberico ham was delicious, as well as the Carpaccio which we got for appetizers. For mains, we both ordered Paellas and were served a full skillet of amazing rice and seafood. What really stood out to me was the quality of service and the refined atmosphere. Im no snob but many very expensive and upper brow restaurants fall short on service, but this was not the case at LaVinia. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable and courteous, clearly experienced in the art of customer service. Being located on the north side of Lakeshore, the beautiful waterfront trail is just a few minutes away and is a great way to walk off the delectable meal. Have recommended LaVinia to everybody I know looking for a formal spot that delivers on a quality experience while not breaking the bank. 10/10, perhaps the greatest dining experience on Lakeshore.
Took our son here for his birthday, being his favourite restaurant and it was magnificent! Delicious food, great service and beautiful decor! A real gem! Thanks!
Excellent attention. Very tasty food. Very cozy place. Everything on point.
La Vinia is definitely one of my favourite restaurants to go to in the city. This small cozy yet intimate restaurant is somewhere you should not hesitate to visit. The food and service is amazing, it keeps me coming back, anyone that I have brought here always falls In love. Thanks to the incredible family team making the best Spanish food you can find in all of the GTA. Must try: Paella Mariscos, calamares, croquetas de cangrejo and the pulpo
The owner thinks support dogs are for blind people only and would not let us dine in!
The staff are incredible, they make sure youre treated well and they even remembered us from our last visit. The food is reminiscent of a local Spanish restaurant and is a delight for all your senses. I would recommend this place without a doubt. 5 star experience.
Cute little spot. Food is decent. Service is very friendly and welcoming. Chorizo & ratatouille was tasty, though didnt have the spice or smokiness I was expecting. Mussels steamed in beer was DELICIOUS - Id go back just for that 1 dish. Smokey, briney, lightly tomatoey beer sauce - just order that, a basket of bread, and a glass of wine!! Crab cakes were nothing special. The paella mariscos (seafood) was a huge disappointment. The rice was wet, the seafood was bland and overcooked. We ordered it because I read other reviews saying their paella was excellent, but unfortunately it was not at all. No one wanted to take home the leftovers.
We ordered some tapas, one of them was Octopus. In our opinion it tasted as if it had gone bad, and we mentioned it to the server. She took our barely touched plate. At some point during the dinner, the chef was walking around tables and came to ours. He believed that the octopus was fine but said that we were welcome to send back any dish we weren t satisfied with. At the end of our meal we still found the barely touched octopus included in our bill. We decided not to argue about that, but thought the restaurant would practice better with such positioning and price point. Oh well
Great service and food.
Top chef, service and quality - felt like I was in Spain . Thank you Mr Garcia for bringing this quality of service to Toronto Food : 5/5
My whole dining experience was excellent. Would not change a thing. Mr. Fernando Garcia is an amazing chef and owner. Very accommodating and welcoming staff and great tasting food. Will definitely be coming back in the near future!
This restaurant truly is a hidden gem! I had the chicken croquettes, sautéed mushrooms and seafood paella, all cooked to perfection by chef and owner Fernando Garcia. The chef came out to speak to every patron diner personally and ask how the food was. Our server, Julia, was attentive and professional without being intrusive. A perfect dining experience, will definitely go again and again and highly recommend!!!
Went here for a client meeting, perfect atmosphere.
Cozy place. The best octopus that Ive ever eaten in Toronto. Highly recommended
Great service and great food! Really enjoyed my visit there. Recommend to anyone who is craving delicious paella.
Very delicious food with good environment
Amazing Spanish dinner The Penne the sauce And desert yummy Paella wow Food : 5/5 |
A must visit & you ll be back. I could say a hundred positive things about this place but even then, it wouldn t do it justice. Family owned. Intimate, feels like you re dining with friends around you. The most warm & proficient service I ve received in a veryyy long time. One of a kind a true gem of a place will be back here, REGULARLY.
Just celebrated my moms 90th birthday party at La Vinia. We hosted 35 people and everything was perfect, excellent and plentiful food, great friendly service and cozy ambience. Thank you for making the day memorable.
Great little intimate Spanish restaurant! The food is cooked perfectly. We had paella de marisco, and arroz a banda and the octopus. They accommodated a group of 10 with attentive service. The chef personally comes out to great everyone. Highly recommended but make reservations!
Amazing food and service and it was my first time there. I attended La Vinia to celebrate our work Holiday gathering! The food was delicious, the seafood was fresh and prepared with love, the service was excellent!! I will definitely be going back! Vegetarian options: Excellent
Went for dinner with friends where we were greeted immediately and shown to our table. We shared four tapas appetizers and a paella. We left nothing in the plates. The wait staff are the chef/owners son and daughter who are very personable, attentive and provided the best service Ive experienced in awhile. The restaurant was at capacity and I watched in amazement how well the brother and sister team worked the tables. Furthermore, the chef comes to the table to ensure the meal was to our satisfaction. At no point were we rushed to leave which made our conversation very relaxing. If you havent tried Lavinia, you are missing a great experience.
The pulpo is exceptional and the croquettes were amazing. Try the sangria as well. Overall, left satisfied and happy.
Good food and service but I think the place needs a refreshing specially the washrooms.
Fantastic evening. Attention to detail on the meal and the service was amazing. Very attentive and caring service.
Very Nice Restaurant! Small but very welcoming staff and chef !! food, tapas and wine excellent! Give them a try , well worth it
The fish of the day was exquisite. Wish I couldve had the paella but will definitely get it next time. Definitely one of the best Spanish restaurants in the GTA.
Excellent food and service!
Simply spectacular. Food is out this world, service is fantastic, wine is great. If you want a great night in a great place just go there. And Chef Fernando Garcia will always see you out and thank you after your dinner....so cool. March 2022 - and another spectacular experience. This place is simply fantastic
Wonderful restaurant
Service, ambiance, and the food was spectacular.
This is an amazing restaurant. A real!!! spanish cousine. The owner/chef impeccable on the table manners. This is a real paella the best in toronto no questions. Wine spectacular highly recommended place. Calamari and croquettes exquisite. Best meal in a very long time. Thank you Fernando!!!!
Great selection of tapas. Best octopus on im the city. Great spanish wine and Cava selection. A gastronomic gem in the west end.
This is an authentic Spanish food restaurant. Tasty good. Cozy and nice ambience. Service was good.
fantastic Spanish food Second to none in city. A must try.
Absolutely fantastic example of Spanish cuisine. Loved everything here.
I had a great experience visiting the restaurant few years ago for a birthday celebration! Great atmosphere, great customer service and most importantly delicious paella!! One of my all time favourite dishes. The chef/owner even came out to chat with us, offered us free desserts and joined us for the group photo. . Highly recommend if you love paella , grilled octopus, and being well taken care of, this is a must visit place!
Good: :the tapas, we tried 4 different ones, octopus, scallop, chicken, mussels were very good. The mussels were good, just not as good as the other three. : The service was excellent. You will be comfortable. : The pricing is good for the quality of the food. : The wines match the food at a high standard. As Expected: : the paella was of a high standard : The ambiance is lovely for this style of restaurant. Needs Improvement: : No comment here. This is a good quality restaurant with IMO good value for money.
Easily the best spanish food Ive had in toronto. Great portion sizes and flavours. My compliments to the chef.
Excellent Spanish cuisine, friendly helpful staff and great food in healthy portions.
Nice small restaurant. Fast service even when busy. Prices are fair for offered menu selections. It could get really loud when full. The only downside is their paella but anyways its hard to find a good paella in the Toronto area unless you find a good Peruvian restaurant.
Marvelous experience all around: the food and wine were fantastic. Their chef is a veritable wizard in the kitchen. Will definitely be returning throughout the summer
Came here to celebrate our 20-yr anniversary... what an amazing experience! Jamie our waiter was super chilled and awesome! Had a great sense of humor and really made our evening. Chef Fernando came out and greeted his guests, which was a nice touch. The food... wow! The octopus was tender and fresh. The scallops and meat balls were phenomenal! Paella was perfectly done and full of complex flavors. If you didnt know any better, youd think you were dining in Madrid. 5-stars, will definitely be coming back to try more dishes. Thank-you for a lovely evening!
Excellent customer service. Very high quality cooking, especially the sea food. If youre looking for the full experience I recommend asking for your servers recommendations. Definitely the place to go for a quiet date night.
Great intimate restaurant, the owner/chef came out to personally ask each guest how was the meal. We had mainly seafood tapas and were very happy, particularily the scallops and the octopus.
Great family run operation, authentic and fresh
Great service and food is perfect! Loved their flan and fried milk as well. Highly recommended!
An amazing place for a wonderful Spanish dinner. The atmosphere is very friendly and the service is excellent. Always a wonderful experience dinning here.
Waiter was rude. Food is not bad. Not a 5 star place.
Staff is super friendly and nice. Service was great! Small place, family owned, the owner is super sweet! We ordered Paella and it was delicious! The icecream with Berries was also great. The menu is amazing! A lot of food that I usually dont see often in Toronto. I definitely recommend this place and will go back for sure!
Vegetarian options: Amazing vegetarian options. Parking: Parking is available in the front or any side street. Check the Green Parking schedule for free parking. Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly. This restaurant is small and quite crowded. It is an amazing place with extraordinary service and food for families who educate their children to eat a variety of dishes (more like the European approach), thus, the typical North American kids menu does not exist. Wheelchair accessibility: This is a very small restaurant. Not easily accessible.
A very delicious Spanish meal, Tapas exceeded our expectations, raw beef, marinated salmon and seafood stew with white beans. The staple dishes of paella and cuttlefish rice were very good, but I ordered too many meals and couldnt finish them, so I gave up on dessert. The clerk is very friendly and the chef comes out to communicate with the guests at each table. We will be back again.
The restaurant was closed??? I booked a table from OpenTable but the restaurant was not even open. It was on Thursday and it was expected to be open. Wasted my 30mins drive.
Really good paella, and the tapas were amazing as well. Highly recommend the scallops. Cooked to perfection. Service was amazing!
Great atmosphere and great staff. Loved it
Very good food. Incredible price and the people running this place make you feel very comfortable. Hidden gem of etobicoke!
A small family owned and operated restaurant sharing their love of food with their guests. Delicious menu choices and friendly staff make for a great evening !
outstanding restaurant, amazing food and service
Quaint restaurant with great service and excellent food. We were a group of four and shared our appetizers with a jug of sangria. Each of us ordered something different. Penne with chorizo, lamb, seafood paella and regular paella paired with a rioja. The chef came to greet us and waved as we left! Highly recommend!
Service was too notch. Drinks were great Food was good.
Weve been waiting to dine at Lavinia for some time. Well, we wasted so much time when we could have been enjoying the marvelous food. The Paella is incredible! The Octopus was simply exceptional. So much time lost waiting, so much time to make up. To keep it brief, well see you soon.
The food were delicious, the staff are knowledgeable, made suggestions. They were very attentive and courteous. We will definitely go back.
Great experience
Just amazing
The Spanish seafood risotto tastes very good and is not greasy, full of aroma and affordable. The service attitude is very good and highly recommended!
Excellent food, wine and service.
What a wonderful dinning experience. The staff is kind, respectful and very friendly. Chef Don Fernando paid a visit to our table to make sure everything was going well. The food was delicious, each and every option we tried was simply marvelous. Glad my partner chose this restaurant for our meeting tonight. Im sure Ill be back! ¡Muchas gracias a todxs!
The first time we ate at Lavinia we thought it was one of the best meals we had in our lives. This time the paella had no crust. I sent mine back and most of the ingredients were dry. For dessert, I ordered the chocolate flan and the custard was overcooked.
Fantastic food and service...
Excellent food
Wonderful food! Great staff!
Delicious food and great service. Will definitely be going back
First time ...great service overall amazing experience...amazing paella we got the marisco and crab croquettes.
(2017) Went here for my mothers birthday. Had 4 Tapas: Spanish Ham, Spanish Meatballs, Braised Octopus & Steamed muscles. Followed by a Seafood Paella as a main dish Also had a complimentary Cheese Cake and Tartufo for dessert. Perfect amount of food for 4 people without feeling too full. Enjoyed the nice variety of Spanish food, cozy atmosphere, professional and caring staff. Even the head chef came out to greet customers. It was pretty busy, but we had a 7pm reservation to beat the dinner rush. I consider this place a high end Spanish cuisine experience as the prices are up there, but makes for an unforgettable meal. I will likely return for another visit to sample more items. Update (2019): Revisited for my parents 45th Anniversary + relatives visiting. From out of town. We visited on Boxing Day and had a 6:30 reservation and we were the first to be served. We had the Spanish Meatballs, Spanish Ham and Grilled Scallops to start with the Penne Pasta, Chicken & Seafood Paella and Squid Ink Risotto. Everything was absolutely delicious! Not spicy or weird, just flavor and comfort. This place deserves its place in the TOP 10 Tapas Restaurants in Toronto according to tripadvisor. Its reputation shows through from the professional service, delicious foods and sweet and passionate head chef who visits every table after service to ensure his guests are happy. Update 2021: Returning in stage 3 of the pandemic lockdown. This time for my fathers birthday. Restaurant is still going strong. Food is top notch. Service is friendly and professional. Great to see things going back to normal!
Excellent service. Food was authentic and prepared to perfection.
I had my birthday dinner here with my husband. Food is excellent, service is kind and professional. Great little restaurant.
Overall I liked it and I will return. I got few mussels not so fresh. I would have preferred a little less salt in my paella.
Amazing food and service
Great Spanish Restaurant. I love their Tapas. perfect portions, tasty food and great service. This is how restaurants should be in Toronto. The owner Fernando came by to make sure everything was fine. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Thank you!!
Thoroughly enjoyed dinner on the cozy front patio of this family owned and operated restaurant! We asked the chef to create our menu and we loved every dish. Fresh salads and perfectly cooked seafood and rich paella. Beautiful wines. The desserts in particular were a real treat. A real Mimico gem.
Unforgettable birthday diner with family. Nice atmosphere, delicious menu, warm hospitality. A lot to discover among tasty foods prepared by Fernando himself. Thanks to all LaVinia Team
Excellent, tasty, exquisite fine dining at a good price. Probably one of the best cozy spanish restaurants in the G.T.A. Attentive first class servers, an open kitchen, and very tasty dishes. The seafood paellas are always excellent, and so are the many appetizers (crab cakes were delicious and the shrimp chorizo mushroom special)..the mango cheesecake was also great. They also have a really refreshing sangria!
Simply the best Spanish restaurant in GTA and Toronto
Our overall experience was phenomenal. The food and service is incredible. The chef comes to check in on the tables whenever he gets the chance, an extra touch of excellent service. Highly recommended.
Owner and Chef Fernando Garcia will never stop amazing us with his authentic Spanish cuisine. Great tapas selection, fantastic and generous serving of Paella Valenciana, Veal ( beef of the day) tender and delicious. Paired with a full bodied Tempranillo suggested by Jaime, it was the perfect food celebration for my Wifes birthday. Cant wait to go back there again !
Great service! The octopus was a bit too salted. Paella tasted great
Excellent food and friendly service.
Great food great service
Amazing place with well balanced dishes and very friendly and professional servers. The chef is unbelievably nice and kind and loves his work. If you re looking for great tasting Spanish dishes, look no further.
