Ordered the half tray of chicken biryani and the taste was just ok, it was quite bland. Biggest downside is that there were whole cuts of chicken (ie. bone-in chicken thighs) under the rice. Maybe this is considered the proper way and some people prefer that but I wouldve preferred if it was smaller pieces of boneless chicken mixed throughout the rice as that would be much easier to share and eat.

Biryani tasted yummy with perfect temperature.

South Indian Madras Muslim Biriyani is a delicacy and this is one of the few places that does it. Portion size is reasonable with good pieces of goat (called mutton in Chennai but usually is baby goat) Patchadi is small sized for the rice enough for two. Weekend special are Chicken and Kaadai roast and again this is dry fried chicken with masala Chennai style. Don t miss this if you re missing food from South of India. Chicken 65 is also good.

This is the best place to get Dum Briyani. We ordered for about 40 people. The food was on time and the owner(Shafi) made sure it s still hot while serving. They got good amount of portion for the given numbers. I would highly recommend this place and I will definitely go back again.

Best Biryani in GTA!!!! Dum Biryani is a cloud concept restaurant. This is the best Chennai biryani I have had in GTA. I buy their biryani along with the bread halwa 2-3 times a week. It s thattttt good. This is also the only place you will actually get fresh mutton pieces in a biryani and that too cooked to perfection. The meat is juicy and comes together so well with their masalas. Also all their prices are affordable and hosts greet you with a smile and tea. Try everything on the menu if you can.

We are visiting from New Jersey where you already get ample Indian food. We wanted to try something that s South Indian and this place was just what we wanted.. Delicious Biriyani and Chicken 65. I could taste each of the spices they used.. We just couldn t stop eating, and we also had bread halwa for desert. That was it! Must try for anyone who loves authentic South Indian Tamil Nadu style Biriyani!!

Downsides: The chicken 65 was overcooked, the eggplant chutney lacked the tangy flavor I expected and was more like kaara kozhambu, and the raita had pieces of unripe mango. Positives: The chicken biryani, made with Chennai-style basmati rice, was outstanding. It s easily the best in the GTA. Recommendation: The chicken biryani is a must-try!

It was my first experience ordering from Dum Biryani. Ordered the Dum Biryani and Chicken 65. I ve never tried a South Indian Biryani before. It s a little different from what I am used to but it was great. I have a question the taste is awesome . Can I know which oil is a being used any food colouring and taste enhancers like Ajinomoto etc..if none used it s a best biriyani . Got biryani with chicken 65, absolute garbage. Biryani was flavorless and overcooked. Ive seen 10x better biryani from random Indian aunties cooking the quick pressure cooker version. 90% of the chicken 65 was literal BONE. How does this happen? How do you call this biryani and chicken 65? Absolute insult to South Indian food. Worst food Ive had the displeasure of ordering in Etobicoke.

Ordered a mutton family size tray and a chicken biryani. Both were phenomenal. Tasty, quantity and quality top notch and the at the price they offer is just unreal. Hats off to the cook. I never, ever had a tastiest biryani in Canada. I would rate them 10/10. It s a hidden gem. Finally my hunting of a yummy biryani came to an end. Please maintain the same quality. I got a goat biryani and quail fry with raita, dalcha, and bread halwa. I am a foodie but I was on diet from last 2 weeks because of over weight. They are making me to tempt more. I think weekly twice I would go there. But honestly this is a good biryani. I wish, they need to open a dine in biryani restaurant soon. This place has the best biryanis by far in and around GTA. The taste is amazing and the biryani looks very appetizing. We got the chicken and mutton biryanis and as a biryani lover I strongly recommend this place and is a must-try. Don t miss out on the bread halwa which serves as a great dessert after the biryani. My hunt for tasty Tamil Nadu-style biryani finally discovered at The Dum Biryani! I had an opportunity to taste their biryani after hearing positive reviews from my friends. Out of my 13 years of North American life and the constant hunt for authentic, tasty, and flavorful biryani, it ended here and the quantity they serve is very generous. I am grateful to the restaurant owner for serving one of the citys best biryanis and I have started buying it every weekend. The best part is my daughter loves it as well. To me, biryani is an emotion, and I felt it with The Dum Biryani!

The best Briyani Ive tasted so far in Canada . I never reviewed before for any food but this one made me to do. We drove all the way from Barrie to Etiobicoke after my friends bragging about this place. We bought briyani and chicken 65 from this place . It has flavour of Ambur style but with long grain basmati rice and this combination is awesome . The qty is pretty good for 2 people. Lovely people in the kitchen, No wonder the food is soooo good .

We went all the way from Ajax to try their Biryani, I would say its totally worth it. Very authentic taste, perfect spice level Biryani exceeded my expectation. Chicken 65 was amazing, meat is very tender and juicy. For the dessert had Bread halwa extremely delicious just melting in the mouth. Quality and service was excellent. Overall Im well satisfied with my choice of going that far for Biryani. Ill be definitely coming back soon.

After awhile I have had a great biryani experience. The rice was perfect! Not dry and under oiled/spiced like many mass catering types. The quantity of meat was also adequate for the price. The chicken was cooked well (it easily fell off the bone with little resistance). Also the thokku mutton biryani is more unique where the semi dry gravy is still present in the biryani. Definitely a must try! The eggplant gravy was generous in quantity for the price. For those who cant down the biryani without eggplant, this is most appreciated. The bread halwa was perfectly placed on the sugar spectrum! It wasnt sickly sweet nor begging for being sugar. Also the quantity for one order is good for 2 people on average. For biryani connoisseurs, this is definitely worth having this place shortlisted and experienced!

What makes biryani good is soft rice, tender meat and appropriate spices. This biryani hits all the right spots. Rice remains soft even after re-heating. Mutton is the most tender I ever had. Egg-plant chutney is delicious as well.
