Food was good and super quick to table. Well priced, cash and debit only. The plaza and diner seem dated.

I would pick any place other than this place to spend your money. The weight staff an elderly lady is the rudest waitress. I ve ever been at in any restaurant yelling at customers yelling at kids. Worst place ever!

My hockey team went there and The elderly waitress girl yelled at us because we moved spots for her to be able to take out the food for all of us worst place ever! I found a hair in my food! don t go there!!!!!!!

Double charged for breakfast as attendant claimed debit transaction did not transfer and asked for cash payment.They owe us another serving

We have been looking for a good breakfast place close to Elora and stumbled across JJs. This place is awesome all around ! Great prices, great service, great food, and an awesome mom and pop feel to the restaurant. This is now going to be our regular close to home breakfast spot.

Went to try jj s for the first time and arrived at 8 when they open. The lights were off and we were greeted at the door by a lady say she isn t set up yet. No good morning even. Sat down for the food and it was greasy and not enjoyable. I asked for water because we had not gotten and that s when she told me it s serve yourself at the water cooler beside the cash register. Just an all around bad experience. Why not be friendly when you own a breakfast joint? I don t understand it.

We were leaving Fergus and looking for a breakfast choice, decided to come here. I always try and go where the local people eat. Not fancy but cozy. Efficient service and delicious breakfast. We had the French Kiss breakfast with 2 eggs, toast, bacon, home fries and French toast; perfectly cooked. Very reasonable price for the amount of food, coffee was great too. Highly recommended!

Feels like home

I chose this restaurant because I always enjoy the atmosphere, friendliness and food of mom-and-pop restaurants. Unfortunately, when we walked in the lady who greeted us didnt greet us in a friendly way. Looked more annoyed that 5 people walked in. Then the lady tries seating us, 5 adults, in a booth for 4. When we asked for a larger table she rolled her eyes and said I guess Ill have to clear a table. I said no thank you well take our business elsewhere and we left. It wasnt the nicest looking restaurant and had 1 single washroom. Not sure if she was having a bad day but wasnt going to trust eating there after that. Not to mention a gentleman left the restaurant with a small dog, pretty sure it wasnt a service dog.

Love the Chinese and the Canadian food missed them so much during Covid my favourite is hot turkey with stuffing often sold out if I come too late! Lol

Definition of hole in the wall that surpasses your expectations. Great food, lovely family run business. We had a great breakfast before realizing they only accept cash and debit. Owner was super understanding and patient as we worked our own issues out. Highly recommend!

This place is great. My father goes at least once a day. He s 84 and my mom has passed away. They treat him like family and I know that he s getting actual food when he goes. I know he s getting at least one (sometimes 2! ) good meal a day! I cannot thank the staff enough. When we visit we go with him and enjoy the meals right along with him.

Its always yummy home style cooking... But, it was Mothers Day.. they were very busy & we went elsewhere, also local.. But we will go here again..

Cheap prices and good quality food.

I have no idea how this place gets any stars. It s filthy. We walked in and our shoes stuck to the floor as we crossed the room to the front counter. At this point the rude woman behind the counter didn t even acknowledge our presence. We stood there wondering if we were invisible because she was clearly avoiding even looking at us. It was the weirdest experience we have ever had. The restaurant was empty so being busy was not her excuse. After about 3-4 minutes of this rude exchange we just walked out. Not a word spoken to us. Go somewhere else if you like cleanliness and friendliness.

Had breakfast here with my family. We all ordered the big one. Enjoyed the hell out of it!!! Real home fries!! Everything was so good. Loved that we all had different mugs, It made us smile. Just has the right feels for a diner. Will be back!!

I dont know what some of these 5 star reviewers are smokin, but it must be crack. Extremely poor attitude service, Mediocre food at best, and definitely watered down cold/hot beverages. Customers were being reseated to other tables due to medium flow of customers, 2 customer walk in being declined for a seat rudely, staff members arguing loudly in the kitchen like you see on the chef romsey show, ignorant attitude given from waitress when asked a basic question. Also to add, they were not sanitary with the tables. Nothing wiped prior to our seating. Would not recommend. Place has potential for different owners and renos.

Probably the first time in my life that I have EVER had to walk out of a restaurant. Ordered the big breakfast with a side of hollandaise sauce on the side. Coffee was bitter and sludgy, food came out cold, hollandaise sauce was microwaved but still cold. I asked for new potatoes and hollandaise sauce and I could hear the line cook saying there was nothing he could do about it. We decided to leave and told the line cook (maybe smart assingly) that he did a great job. Then he decided to meet me in the parking lot looking for a fight. This place is horrible.

All the positive reviews here must be old..possibly the Worst restaurant experience Ive probably ever had. Server who is apparently the owner was very cold and rude(to only us but not the regulars). Coffee was gross black water, serve yourself warm water in 60 year old plastic glasses. Food came quickly, because it all was apparently cooked yesterday. Not one item besides the eggs were fresh, hollandaise was runny liquid and ice cold . Asked for it to be fixed and they snatched the plate away and brought it back to the Kitchen where the cook(who is the son) said he isnt fixing it. We tell them were leaving and going somewhere else and the son follows us to the parking lot and says you fatties dont need any bacon anyways. Great customer service. Will be reporting to public health as they obviously dont follow food safety guidelines as you can also see by their most recent inspection. Shouldve turned around when we walked in the sketchy door .

A great spot for breakfast, so accommodating and friendly, family run business! Food was good, and they make pancakes to order that look like kids characters (we got paw patrol!). The parking lot and exterior of the restaurant look quite run down, but once you enter the atmosphere and staff are lovley. So glad we took a chance on it!

Its an old small town restaurant, owner operator, always a hit for breakfast have had the odd dinner rarely a plate that wasnt cleaned before being retrieved for the dishwashers job. Good value for the money a recent acquisition of pool tables for the night crowds and a liquor license is now pending...very affordable worth the try...

All the staff were quite friendly, but at the end of the day the restaurant was very dated (borderline dirty), and the food was of poor quality and portion, for the price.

This was our first and last time eating breakfast at JJ s. Next time we ll drive to Elora for better quality. The service was poor, and regulars were definitely prioritized. We were missing the warm and welcoming vibes you would expect in a family diner. We were rudely informed there were zero substitutions. The decor is outdated. The dish-ware was mismatched and clearly from a thrift store. My husband had a teacup for his coffee, and another customer had a large mug for his. In hindsight, the small was better, because the coffee tastes awful, it was like coffee flavoured water. We left without him finishing his coffee (for the first time ever). The food quality was questionable, the sausage was salty and not flavourful, and the bacon was shredded pieces. I hope you don t want water with your meal, because it is a self serve water cooler with disposable cups, touched by unknown number of hands. In the bathroom there are big cobwebs hanging from the ceiling that are impossible to miss. Which makes me question the cleanliness of the restaurant. The location is great, and there s a lot of missed potential.

One word sums it up, terrible! We should have followed our instincts to turn around and leave when we opened the front door and walked down the hallway to the entrance door. It started with absolutely no Covid-19 protocols in place. It was then followed up by unfriendly service and an even worse breakfast which began with broken eggshells in our over easy eggs. The toast was burnt around the edges and soggy on the inside. The thin ham had a strange unpleasant taste, the bacon was super thin and the sausage was so so. Not top quality food. It was then washed down with dishwater coffee which I could not finish. This was pretty much the first Coffee I have ever left behind! There you have the breakfast we were served and paid for. I wasnt brave enough to take a glimpse into the cooking area, judging by the unmatching Value Village mugs and cutlery that was enough. I dont like to leave bad reviews and rarely do, but I believe JJs has to clean up their act and respect their customers and provide them with better quality food & service. I cannot understand how they have repeat business and have good reviews. Sorry JJs but you need to step it up!

Bad service rude employees

Place should be shut down. They are not following covid protocol. For starters none of the employees are wearing masks. They are not following protocol when asking for proof of vaccine. They didnt even ask customers that came in after us for proof. The place smells like a sewer. We ordered coffee and decided we couldnt eat here because of the smell. The owner charged us $5. for 2 coffees we didnt drink. Never again will we visit or recommend this place.

I love getting my eggs beni here. They close at 200 pm so I ordered 10 mins before for take out. Picked up my order and they encouraged me to eat in as still somr costomer seated. Seems like a hard working family that try to please.

JJs Diner is a cute, friendly, and rustic breakfast place that offers a no-frills menu at a very affordable price, with friendly staff and fantastic portion sizes. Ive noticed some people criticizing the place for its decor and the lack of matching plates and mugs (ya, really), but this is completely antithetical to what a local breakfast should be. This is a small-town breakfast place, and has all the charm you would expect in one.I should also mention, emphasize, and re-emphasize(!), this place makes great coffee. Cant wait to visit again!

Had a late breakfast there this morning (at the recommendation of a young lady at PetValu). I have to admit it doesnt look like much when you pull up, and we almost didnt bother, but very glad we did. The young blonde fellow that served us didnt look happy to be there on a Saturday morning, but he was very efficient and pleasant. The coffee was good, strong and hot, and the breakfast came out very quickly. For the money, I dont think you can go wrong. Would definitely recommend.
