Loved it from the moment we walked in. It was tricky to find, but so worth the effort! I had the Newfie Mac Smash and it was fantastic. The bacon was perfectly crisp and the mac sauce was plentiful. I would order this again. My son had the chicken caesar wrap and it was huge. I mean really big! He couldn't even eat a single fry and had no room for dessert. He said it was really good. My friend had the lobster mac and cheese. It was plentiful and so tasty. She couldn't finish and took half home in a container. I split the dessert with my friend as they had only one left. It was the feature dessert of the month - sticky toffee pudding. Amazing!!! Served warm and so melt in the mouth delicious. I would go back for that dessert alone. Highly recommend The Goofie Newfie, but call first as it was really packed. Service was very friendly and helpful. Well worth the excellent tip we left.
Love the place. Tasty good food. Great and friendly service. Particularly like their mussels and fish tacos. The restaurant is by the side of a river with nice views.
Fun little pub with great food with Down East decor. Had the summer salmon salad and St. George st. Chicken sandwich. Fries were great, salad was great with a sizeable piece of salmon. Chicken was a Nashville style and the best I’ve had yet. Highly recommended 🍻
Can’t beat big patio right on the gorge, the waves crashing as u enjoy the view and noises. The beer u should try here are the Newfie lager and dark. $6 every day! Easy to drink and very refreshing. Fish and chips have an amazing thick dark batter made from the Newfie beer, the other dish is a lobster Mac and cheese that has a great fish flavour too. For dessert they have lots of options and sessional ones too we had the harvest pumpkin cheesecake which was great. A must try in Fergus
We had a mixed experience at the Goofie Newfie, but overall, it was enjoyable. We ordered: Smash Burger and Poutine: Absolutely delicious. Smash Burger and Fries with a Side of Gravy: Also delicious. Fish Taco with Caesar Salad: Delicious. Steak Taco with Caesar Salad: The taste was good, but it was unfortunately way too salty. It felt like something might have been forgotten in the preparation. I had to eat some fries to balance the saltiness, and ultimately, I couldn’t finish it. It’s a shame because the flavor was there, but the saltiness overpowered the dish. As for the appetizers, we tried the Donair Bites, which were alright but didn’t quite capture the classic down east donair flavor. However, the Antojitos Jalapenos were fantastic. The restaurant was clean, but the floors were terribly slippery for some reason. I was wearing running shoes, we had just come in from a hike. I was wearing a good grip shoe. Nonetheless the service was excellent. The view is beautiful and the sites around town are fun to explore. They close early, so don't wait until dinner, to explore. In summary, most of the dishes were delicious, but the steak taco could use some adjustment. We’ll be back for the smash burgers and other favorites! We would go back to try different things.
One of my favourites restaurants. I’ve never had an item off the menu that I didn’t absolutely love. Their fries and gravy are out of this world and they have some of the best fish bites! But my personal favourites are the smash burger and thunder crunch wrap. Their patio is my fav spot, great view and sounds of the grand river rushing by. It is very dog friendly and they even bring a little bowl of water and treats for furry friends. Highly recommended for great service, delicious food and a fantastic patio lunch.
I’m guessing they were a bit short-staffed, we had to wait quite a while to be seated. Once seated the staff was really nice. My dad is from Newfoundland, so I had to bring him to try it out - he had the cod & scrunchions, and I had classic fish & chips (cod). Admittedly, my dad’s order was supposed to be with mash, and they brought fries… but he didn’t mind. The view from the patio was great - next time we’ll go inside to see what that is like. I plan to try the burger … one passed by and looked so good!
Breathtaking Views with Average Fare? The restaurant is definitely worth a visit, especially for the spectacular views. With plenty of water to gaze at, the ambiance is fantastic—ideal for a relaxing meal. The surrounding area adds to the experience, with little boutiques, gardens, and flowers enhancing the charm. As for the food, it’s about what you’d expect from a typical restaurant. The fish and chips were okay, but nothing that stood out as particularly memorable. The service, however, was good, making the overall experience pleasant. While the cuisine may not wow your taste buds, as it’s typical pub style I wanna say ? The setting more than makes up for it. It’s a lovely spot to enjoy a meal while soaking in the scenery and exploring the nearby shops and gardens.
Great food, phenomenal service, 10 out of 10
It s not easy to find and parking is a bit far away if you are disabled. But the food and service are outstanding. As my friend said, I would drive all this way just for the dessert! (sticky toffee pudding). If you get lost, ask a local for directions. They know where it is and it s worth the effort. My lobster mac and cheese was excellent. Service was attentive, friendly and helpful. Dietary restrictions: Tell the servers your restrictions; they are knowledgeable and helpful
The restaurant next to the beautiful fall. You should go here for lunch to see it. Seafood chowder & beef cheesesteak tacos were salty
We all enjoyed our meals. Seafood chowder, lobster roll, cod, smashburger, Newfie poutine. All very tasty.
Atmosphere is fantastic. We expected some of the food to taste more closely to Newfoundland cooking. Cod au Gratin was good. Fries, dressing gravy missed the mark in our opinion. Wings not so good. Cheesy garlic bread was great.
I love the east coast vibe. The food was great and the service was fast and friendly.
The blonde haired bar tender with a nose ring, a braid in her and tattoos at 8:00 pm on Friday December 13th denied service due to personal issues. The Tender was obviously flustered with previous discretions and took it out on patrons not involved. Do not come to this location if you do not wish to be harassed by the employees with no discretion.
Goofie Newfie Restaurant - A Hidden Gem in Fergus! If you re looking for a restaurant that combines a cozy atmosphere with authentic, hearty food, Goofie Newfie in Fergus is an absolute must-visit! This place is more than just a dining experience it s a slice of Newfoundland culture brought to life in the heart of Ontario. From the moment you step inside, you re greeted with friendly smiles and the warm, inviting charm of a true East Coast vibe. The décor is quirky and fun, filled with nods to Newfoundland s heritage, making it a perfect backdrop for a relaxed meal. The menu is nothing short of fantastic. Whether you re craving traditional comfort food or curious to try something new, there s something for everyone. Their cod dishes, a true Newfoundland staple, are fresh and cooked to perfection. And don t miss their toutons or Jiggs Dinner they re as authentic as it gets! The portions are generous, and the flavors are homey and rich. The service deserves a shoutout, too. The staff are attentive, personable, and make you feel like family. It s clear they take pride in the food they serve and the experience they provide. And if you re lucky, you might catch some live music or special events that add to the fun, community-centered atmosphere. Goofie Newfie isn t just a restaurant it s an experience. Whether you re a Fergus local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and make a stop here. You ll leave with a full belly, a happy heart, and likely a new appreciation for Newfoundland s unique culture and flavors.
Was a really cool place and it seemed like really authentic Canadian food. Tried poutine for the first time. Friendly service and a great view
You wont be disappointed! The Newfie Smash Burger is amazing
Great spot in Fergus right on the grand river. Service is always great, and food is consistently good. They have great pub fare, daily features, as well as some selections from Newfoundland.
As a Newfoundlander who has been away from home for a decade, this was the MOST AUTHENTIC Newfie experience Ive had outside Newfoundland. From the dressing to the gravy, the fish to the onion rings, the decor to the dark vinegar, everything was so great. The only thing missing was shitty paper menus. But, to anyone visiting, their menu is laminated, brightly coloured, and full of delicious choices! I HAD to have fish and chips, and asked for dressing and gravy for the fries. Holy shit that was great.
We were about 10 minutes away so we called to book a reservation and see how busy it was. The person we spoke to said they dont take reservations until 7:30 and it was a 20 minute wait in the line. We waited outside in the cold because the line was cramped in a narrow hallway. We eventually got inside and asked how long was the wait andcwere told 20 minutes. We saw people come out but the line wasnt decreasing. After 40 minutes we were finally behind one small group with many people lined up behind us. We asked how much longer it would be because apparently they do take reservations and those people got in immediately. The hostess told us it was going to be a lot longer because the restaurant was fully booked for a party. Upon hearing that we left and the people waiting behind us left as well. Disappointed to say the least.
We loved our dinner here last night. It was our first time here, and the atmosphere, location and staff were wonderful. It was difficult to choose from the menu as everything sounded so good. Food came quick and was very delicious. If we are in Fergus again we would come back!
The view was beautiful. They have a nice little deck overlooking a waterfall. They were quite busy during lunch so we had to sit inside but it was still nice with Windows overlooking the river. The Fish Bites were delicious! Newfie fries were quite good as well. The donair bites were only ok. The staff were all super friendly and service was great. Cant wait to go back.
Had a great cod and scrunchons dinner with a Newfie lager which was excellent! Our waiter was from wales and we loved his accent, personality and service. What a location, absolutely beautiful on the water.
Great food, awesome atmosphere, staff was great, will come back again for sure
Delicious, satisfying food. Large menu. Great prices. Fish is really fresh
Absolutely amazing food, service and its such a great place! Parking: Plenty of parking Food : 5/5 |
The service was slow. It was busy and they should have had more staff. The poutine was alright. I ve had better.
We went to give it a try today on a friends great recommendation, and to be honest we didn t have a good meal at all. The app s were burned and dry, the meal was just ok, fish and chips was overcooked. And there was a strange loud disturbing banging noise constantly coming from the kitchen. I don t imagine we will go back because a basic meal wasn t even good. Service was decent, it s too bad the food quality couldn t match.
What a very Nice place to relax and enjoy your meal nice view of the river,
I didnt have food, just beer. Came to see a sporting event. Friendly service in a clean environment. Service : 5/5
Friendly staff and great location. The food, especially the seafood chowder, is always good when we go there.
What a great place
Good place. Not as good as I thought or saw on social media. Food taste average. Overall experience 3/5. Food
Little bit hard to find, but worth it. View is enjoyable and the food is better. Lobster Mac and Cheese and Pulled Pork Poutine was amazing. Recommend anyone to try this place.
Loved the welcoming atmosphere and amazing food! Would definitely be visiting again
The food was amazing and the staff was friendly
Beautiful! Inside (staff and warm hearts) and out...(pictures speak for themselves!)
Always a great time! Service and food was fantastic!! What a spot! I would recommend this establishment to absolutely any demographic!! Well done crew!
Such an amazing atmosphere, great food, and awesome people.. 5 stars
Stumbled upon this place and am glad I did, fantastic patio, friendly service and great food.
Great scenic few with an east coast feel
Love the easy coast so this is close to home. Great food, service and paintings on wall make it feel like you are there
A restaurant solely for the river view. Heavily battered and greasy fish & chips, fries had a burnt oily taste which may indicate the fryer oil needs to be changed. The very small paper cup of cole slaw is clearly an after thought as is the tartar sauce. Newfie steak was served very crispy. Hot beef sandwich was mediocre. Beer, wine and drink prices good hence this may be a place to drop in for a drink only!
Absolutely LOVE this gem in Fergus! We will certainly continue making this our home, when our theatre company comes to town! Excellent staff and great food!
Amazing place my camera was dead I couldnt take photos of the food but was so good had the lobster poutine was so good well worth it good to share had the steak burger was so tasty the staff was very nice.
Our most favourite restaurant in Fergus!! We love being locals and visiting often!!
It was a great experience... love Nans recipes!! Our server had an amazing spirit Wheelchair accessibility: Was accessible
Great experience for first-timers. Amazing environment triva night is not for the weak! Would definitely recommend.
Friendly, attentive staff. Nice riverside patio, and good food! East coast Haddock and fresh cut fries was very good.
Food was fantastic. Service was a bit slow last time we visited (August 2024).
Great Patio
Whats not to love, great food, great service perched atop the cliffs of the grand river! Very good burgers!!
Great place fish and chips best I had it 30 years People working were great Friendly Clean tables Will be back weekly till close for the season
Absolutely one of the best places to eat friendly staff and the food and portions are the best make this place your go to for dinner.
A destination for sure. A must go when visiting the the Elora gorge. Google maps was confused trying to find this place.
Great place. The patio is right on the gorge. Just breath taking.
This is a very cute spot with a beautiful green patio filled with trees. I loved being able to hear the river from the patio too it added a nice touch to the ambiance. My boyfriend had the Famous Thunder Crunch Wrap with Newfie poutine, and I had the fish and chips, but I substituted the chips for a Caesar salad. The wrap was delicious, but we didn t like the shredded cheese on the poutine. I d recommend upgrading to cheese curds, and I wish our server had asked if we wanted that option. The battered fish and Caesar salad were great, with a very generous portion of Caesar dressing, and I loved their tartar sauce. I also recommend getting the pickled beets on the side they were delicious. The only downside was the drink menu, which seemed to be outdated. We tried the Newfie lemonade and the Blue Noser, but both were just okay. If I were to come back, I would definitely stick to beer or wine.
It was a nice and fun experience at Goofie Newfie. I really like what I ordered it was so delicious and also the dessert like so so good. The server was very nice, charming, and helpful kudos!!!
Fish and Chips are the best must try
The patio atmosphere is amazing!! The burger rocks!! Love it
The food was amazing!! Sitting on the back patio listening to the Grand River flow by, while enjoying Newfie fries! Havent had them in quite sometime, which was back home in Newfoundland.
Nice view rom the patio. Food was good but not exceptional. Service was fantastic we had a great server! Food : 4/5
Maddie was the best server ever, she was so kind and attentive. Had the best experience, maddie provided fast and excellent service the entire meal. Will definitely be returning soon!
Never been disappointed with anything I have ordered here. Love to sit on the patio as the rushing river just adds a nice touch to your eating environment. The only negative I can think of is the wasps can get nasty on the patio in September and October but that is not the fault of the Goofie Newfie.
Had a fun visit following the wonderful #FergusHighlandGames
My cousin took my uncle and the family here on Fathers Day. We had a fantastic time! My Uncle loved it. Hes in a wheelchair, but that was no problem. Lots of room. The staff is always so friendly and helpful. We have someone in our group who has special food requests and it was no problem. They were so accommodating. Its not the first time I was here. I always have a good time, a good meal, and always good company when I come. Vegetarian options: My cousin has no trouble getting what she likes here. Dietary restrictions: They are always willing to do what they can to accommodate dietary needs. Parking: We had a wheelchair van and there were 2 cars with us and we parked no problem. Kid-friendliness: Yes, there were children. Wheelchair accessibility: My Uncle had no problems and a perfect parking space for the van.
Overrated. Average pubstyle. Waited in line as we thought this is a place to go but overall disappointed. Fish chips were heavy on batter and greasy.
EDIT IN RESPONSE TO OWNER: You re obviously going to defend your restaurant, but we spoke to many queers the next day and they all told us that the goofy Newfie is not a safe place for queer people. How are you going to tell us that the people there were NOT homophobic? It was karaoke and they were drunk and we could hear their conversations. If you watched the cameras you would know exactly what we re talking about and WHO we are talking about. Why would we lie about what we experienced? Do better and maybe apologize rather than jump to defence. DO NOT GO HERE. This place was very awkard. The atmosphere was awful, full of bigoted people that gave me and my group the worst looks walking in, someone even said oh they re not coming in. It was very racist, and homophobic and you could tell. The server even told us that they re not serving food anymore at 10:30 when the place closes at 12 not queer friendly or POC friendly.
The Newfoundland inspired dishes all sounds so delicious. I will be back for more.
Had the steakhouse smash burger and fries . Was average burger and fries. Nice deck outback overlooking the river.
This place is a gem. Amazing food, amazing service. Food
Great food
Having fish and chips and a pint at Newfie Dark, really good food and a good pint. Cheers.
We were on a recent road trip and this place was recommended. You have to enter down the boardwalk by the river. We were seated quickly on the patio overlooking the river. The sound of the water rushing over the rapids was nice as it blocked out any traffic noise and made you forget you were in the city. We ordered the cod cakes and the cod with scrunchions. The portions were large and both meals were very good. The amount of dill in the cod cakes was perfect. The only slight negative was that the rice was a bit hard and lacked taste. The wait staff was attentive and friendly but seemed to be a bit confused as to who was handling our table. We had several staff come to us to see if we had been looked after and if our meals were ok. Would definitely recommend coming here if youre visiting Fergus and if I lived in the area, I would certainly come back.
Beef tacos: 5/5 Fish and caesar: 3/5 Lobster roll: 4/5 Liver and onion:4/5 Food : 4/5 |
First time, will return next time I am in Fergus!
When we arrived, we could tell the place was pretty busy and the staff had their hands full. Though that didnt stop them from providing great service. Despite our server having several tables arrive at once, she was still attentive and our food came out quickly. Everything was delicious and the portion size was quite large, was really glad I decided not to have an app. I would gladly return.
The service was great, the visual was wonderful, the food was excellent. Loved the water falls, and outdoor seating.
Pricey but good Food. Nice location.
Went for the first time today, the food and service was awesome. Definitely will go back again.
The Goofie Newfie offers the best patio in Fergus. The atmosphere on the patio and inside the restaurant is fun and casual. The menu is vast. I had a hard time choosing what to order because everything sounded so appetizing. The food was delicious. The portion sizes were generous. The servers and staff were awesome. The prices were reasonable. I felt that our business was appreciated. Our experience at The Goofie Newfie checked all of our boxes. If I had to provide some constructive criticism, I would say that perhaps our salad was slightly overdressed and that our mussels could have been hotter when they arrived at our table. That being said, we will definitely be back.
Lovely place, service is great I believe they are always busy. The food was ok, nothing wow. But the atmosphere and the place ambiance are amazing . Food
This is the place to go if youre in the area. The view is spectacular and the food is awesome! You will definitely not leave hungry. (Lobster roll was incredible) The server, Mitch, was great; he had his hands full trying to sort out issues for other servers but still took great care. Will definitely be back.
Our first visit to the Goofie Newfie and it definitely won t be our last. We had an amazing lunch & drinks on the quaint little patio beside the water. So many delicious options and something for everyone, food was served hot and the portions huge. The server was amazing, super friendly and attentive. Can t wait to return!
We stopped here as per a recommendation after visiting the Elora quarry. We sat outside along the river for a beautiful view and delicious dinner. Staff was very nice as well. I look forward to coming back and trying more items on the menu!
Great patio seating & good food
Im terrible at posting photos, as you can see by my other posts. Im in the moment, stuffing my face with awesome food! Highly recommend The Goofey Newfie. The food has been consistently good and flavorful every time. Had the fish n chips most recently with an extra fish piece, and it is a healthy serving of fish. Large pieces and perfectly breaded and crunchy outside, flaky moist inside. The burger(s) are handmade with house recipes andnlemme tell tell you, DAYUM, flavorful, juicy and incredibly delicious! This is, in my opinion, a hidden gem in Fergus, and Id be glad to take family here or go online and recommend it to total strangers. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did! Chow!
One of the best spots in Fergus to enjoy a hand made burger fish n chips or even a nice thick slice of Newfie steak!! (Fried bologna)
Drinks are pricey food is good okay nothing to crave about or make you wanted come back again. Friendly staff and outside patio great overlooking the river.
Amazing. Our waitress was spectaculaire!! Huge friendly smile and so positive. Food was out of this world. We will be back.
Group of 3. Loved the food and the outside patio overlooking the river. Staff were friendly and service was on point. Thank you
This is my fifth or sixth visit over the years. Always a welcoming atmosphere, great stuff, prices as you would expect especially after our recent pandemic well 2 years ago. What I did not expect whats for the prices to go up, thats fine but the portion size to go down, I was a little disappointed. I had the Newfie steak dinner and quite frankly I could eat it all again disappointing when you consider its just fries. I even elected to have extra mushrooms and extra onions. Which I paid extra for, I heat the tablespoon of mushrooms and a heaped tablespoon of onions. At 2 bucks a spoonful.
Good location. Good food. Great staff.
Great waiter. Awesome food. Will be back for sure
Great food, friendly staff. Excellent atmosphere
Absolutely delicious food right beside the waterfall. The fish and chips was phenomenal, their gravy is perfect, and their chips will make your mouth water the moment you reach the patio.
Great food, amazing view, friendly staff.
The truest Newfoundland experience this side of port aux Basques. Friendly staff, great location and so many delicious choices. You cannot miss this place
Would have giving a 5 but the Bologna Sandwich has been taken off the menu. Now you great a Bologna Steak plain with fries. If you don t want fries, it s an extra $4 for a salad. Please return the sandwich
Great place to eat and hang out with friends.
Such a great atmosphere. Very active staff. Food for delicious. Must go place in Fergus.
Best restaurant! Great food and service. They even allow you to bring your dog on the patio. Fun for the entire family. Truly my favourite place to eat.
Great food. Great service. My favourite place in Fergus.
Great staff. Awesome vibe and great food.
this is my new favourite resturant. It was quiet and the environment was very cool as well as clean. The outdoor seating gives you a great view. The staff was friendly and kind. The meal was very delicious. I ordered a summer salmon salad and it was very good. I liked the music they played and all the license plates on the wall. There were lots of options for meals too. I highly reccomend this resturant
Food was really good and filling
There are two outdoor areas, so you can ask if you see the first one full, both are on the riverside
Authentic East Coast food!
This was our first visit to The Goofie Newfie, but it wont be our last. Were from Toronto so getting out to the lovely little town of Fergus doesnt happen too often but this establishment will definitely be on our radar for future visits. The food was great. As was the service. Being outside on the patio next to the river was the perfect atmosphere. We shared a Caesar salad. My wife had steamed mussels. I had the chicken wrap with fries that my wife stole half of. All were good portions and flavorful. They offer either breaded fried chicken or roasted chicken with the wrap. I like that as not many places give you such a choice. The menu is pretty big. So many choices. Well try some other things the next time around. I saw someone complaining about parking. We had no issues but maybe thats because we were there on a Monday at noon. Theres a large public parking area nearby.
Nachos chips a bit too salty but excellent portion and nice toppings available.
First timer here. O M G!!!! Where to begin...the food, service was amazing. Sitting outside on the back patio with the river rushing below us just added to an outstanding visit. Will definitely be back Food
Haddock and Frys and gravy were great. Staff very friendly
Really cool patio overlooking the Grand River and the Ceasar salad is next level good
Great fish and chips
Great food, cold beer, good service and always new daily specials (follow their Facebook page!)
I would highly recommend them there food has always been great I would definitely eat there again and again
You know what you are in for in this kind of place. Fries, fried fish, everything fried and very salty. Great with beer. Awesome service, great patio. Big portions.
Don t support ped0 owner, disgusting place
Great little place for lunch. Great atmosphere and food. Highly recommend the lobster roll
The patio is just great with the river view. But I cant get their fried fish sandwich out of my head it was just amazing. The burger was great as well.
Good lobster rolls and the chowder was just
A nice restaurant with a great view of the Grand River so nice to sit beside it on the deck very good service and very good food
A hidden gem! Ambiance is perfect especially if you get a table on either one of their 2 patios overlooking the river. Inside is clean and spacious and washrooms are every bit as clean. Staff was wonderful and our server Rebecca looked after us superbly! Food was deeelish and portions were more than generous. We ll be back to this establishment many times over!
Honestly if your in Fergus you need to eat here. Portions were huge, food was delicious. they sell their sauce too which we bought. The server we had was so friendly and outgoing. I will gladly drive the hour to eat there again Update: We drove back for dinner 6 of us. I didnt realize would have been better to make reservations but the hostess was so accommodating. Everyone loved their meals we will keep driving the hour to this restaurant. had my birthday dinner there tonight. Was incredible
Attentive staff, good food. Location was hard to find. Food
We drove 1.5 Hrs one way to try this place and had been told so many good things just to be super disappointed The food was so salty and the fries I was served I m sure were left over from the night before in the fryer! Being from Newfoundland I thought the cod and scrunchions would not have been battered To finish it off the washrooms were so dirty the garbages were over flowing Definitely wouldn t recommend this place to any of our Newfie friends :(
Our server was awesome. The food and atmosphere were great! I ordered the lobster mac n cheese, and I finished it all! Each bite was LOADED. My sister didnt like her lobster burger as much. It was mediocre at best.
My review is about their customer service and their attitude. We went there today with a five month old baby. As we entered the place and waited in the area that had a posting Wait here to be seated a young lady came and as I asked for a table for four she told us that all tables are booked for now and we are looking for 45 minutes of wait. We accepted to wait and told her that we will wait so please write down our name. She replied: We wont write your name. You have to wait in person if you want a table. I courteously showed her the little baby in the troller and told her that it is cold out and because of the small kid we need to take the baby back in the car and return when our table is ready. She responded No You can t go and should wait here, It is a first come first served place And you need to wait. It is ok if this is their policy, but the behaviour was very impolite. Right after that, she said you are in our way asking us, impolitely, to move out of the way (we were waiting at the sign saying wait here ). The way everything was communicated was very impolite and offensive. We were really shocked and could not believe what we experienced so we immediately left the place and dined elsewhere. We had never in our lives experienced such an offensive behaviour and we won t return to such a place even if they offer the best food in the world.
The food is just ok, nothing great. Its either frozen or from a can/bottle. Nothing fresh. Fries were cold. Either serve larger portions of fries or use smaller plates. Staff are great. Good vibe in restaurant. Nice patio overlooking the water.
The view I enjoyed. Food was greasy I regretted driving out so far to sit in the car with a stomach ache. Id like to give it a second try someday.
Have a poutine on the menu, but make you pay extra for curds? Bizarre!
Better than east coast...I was 100% impressed with food as was the rest of our party...recommend the sea food chowder...amazing !
This is one of the most coolest pub and cafe in Fergus. Amazing vegetarian options available. Had the Classic Nachos, Sweet potato fries and antijitos. Everything was just commendable. The cherry on top were the amazing desserts Crunchy apple and bread pudding. Our server Shannon was wonderful. Highly recommend this place.
The place has a fantastic ambience, but needs a good scrub and management Its really 3.5 stars0 Food
We enjoyed the Goofy Newfie so much that we dined her 4x in 5 weeks. The price for portion size is also good. I definitely recommend reservations, though.
Had a quick bite to eat before a performance at the Theatre
This is a great place. The staff are all so friendly and accommodating. The food is always good and consistent. Great place to watch the game, afternoon of golf or to enjoy their trivia nights. Nice having a restaurant in town that has the home feeling to it. Welcoming and comfortable.
We had the traditional fish and chips upgraded the fries to a poutine. (They do use shredded cheese not curds but still super delicious) the portion was way more then I remembered I couldnt finish my plate. The food was great the servers were so friendly and full if smiles. When we sat down I couldnt help but sing along to the music in the background! Our order was taken right away for drink and right after for food. It came in excellent time as well. Have always enjoyed my experience here!
Welcoming atmosphere, great local spot right there over the gorge with a nice patio. The day we went it was raining, but you could tell its lovely. The food was okay, my group of 8, it seemed the burgers were great, wings and the lobster roll was okay but I would not recommend the lemon pepper fish and the hot beef sandwich. I thought the fish was going to be deep-fried like a regular fish and chips but it wasnt. Also depending on your shoe wear youll be skipping on the indoor floors.
Bad...bad...bad Very disrespectful ppl. Service
Great food and friendly service! Highly recommend!!
Love the patio on the water
Had a wonderful meal, I had the lobster roll, would recommend.
Absolutely endorse this pub. The food is great the staff is ausome and the atmosphere is full of surprises 20 out of 20
Fries were over salted but replaced with a smile
Great regional food from NL...but not everybodys cup orum.
Its nice location. Over looking by the river. Nice patio
The atmosphere is great, the food is ok. I had fish and chips and that was really good. My friend ordered steak and it was cold in the middle but they changed it.
The portions are large. Prices reasonable. The food was amazing . Would recommend this place to anyone, especially visitors to the area. The locals highly recommend it to us and we were not disappointed at all.
Go here every chance I get
Love this place
Great menu, prompt service in lovely setting.
What a great eatery.
Its just a fun, eclectic, quaint place. Was our first time, but it wont be our last. Wide range of menu. Our party of 5 all got something different, and everyone enjoyed it. We each brought home takeaway boxes because portions are very generous, and prices are super reasonable considering the size of the meals! If youre in Fergus looking for a solid, delicious meal and dont take it too serious. Youll have a great time! Good drinks menu with daily specials! Its a little bit hard to get to the first time, but thats just part of its charm, not to mention being right on the Grand River with little falls as the view! Dietary restrictions: Just tell staff, and they will recommend and/or make accommodations. Kid-friendliness: Its a fun place with Newfoundland kitsch all over!
I bought the special of fish sandwich (top seller) along with another top seller to eat at lunch (lobster poutine) with a course light $6. Awesome food, awesome service and a beautiful day. More than worth the drive from Pickering to Fergus
The seafood chowder is comparable to any Ive had in the east coast. The best in Ontario. Its a must have.
Great place to eat great scenery. Great staff.
Always great food, cold beer and friendly faces
Always a pleasure to stop here for lunch/dinner. This time I found the fish and chips a little bit greasy but, in any case, good till the last bite!
Loved the vibe here and the service was great. I ordered a small Newfie poutine and it was the perfect size. My dad ordered the fish and enjoyed it.
Awesome location, staff and food! A must visit if you re in fergus!! Food
I could only give a 1 star because we were turned away. Yes I get it was karaoke, we werent staying for that was just wanted to have a quick bite to eat. The Newfie was our first choice. Yes she checked for free tables and we were told they were full. So I said to the girl so youre turning us away? Yes...what kind of service is that? Who turns customers away? You mean to tell me these people were all staying for karaoke. There were two tables empty and regardless of karaoke I think a better effort should have been made. She didnt even offer for us to wait. We went to the Brewhouse where they graciously sat us without hesitation. Cannot see myself returning to GN anytime soon.
Always have a great time here. Emily is the best bartender in town and she never stops smiling. Great food and service.
Great place to eat with a great atmosphere. If you go you HAVE to order the donair bites for starters. We had the lobster poutine and the cod cakes as mains and both were delicious. All staff were very friendly and effective, attentive without crowding the table constantly. Our experience was so good were excited to return and eat here again, a new favourite. Parking: Plentiful spots at the end of the strip with the restaurant located around the rear. Wheelchair accessibility: A small ramp at the door allows wheelchair users to enter.
Always had a great time. Great wing night
An amazing first time experience. The service was friendly, polite and fast. Let me tell you about the food! Its phenomenal! I had the chowder and fish bites with fries. I wish we lived closer. I will be back for sure.
Amazing food, service and atmosphere 5/5
Amazing food and it s in a really unique location by the river! I loved the atmosphere and the staff are so friendly and provide great service, I ll definitely be returning!
If you come to fergus, you have to try this place! Great patio, best food!! Food
We found this place by chance and were glad we did. Amazing views from the patio along with great food and service. I had the Newfie Steak sandwich and my wife the Haddock and Chips. My sandwich was excellent and the Bologna was about an inch thick and cooked perfectly. My wifes fish and chips were excellent too. We will definitely be returning.
Well, The seafood chowder was ro die for, but the fish and chips (cod) dinner really sucked, the donair bits are spicy little nuggets, 2 outta 10, my friend had the fish cakes she loved them, , Im not complaining but , thought it would be much better, love this place
Busy on Saturdays. Did not realize that you can make reservations. Food was good and the staff were even better. The atmosphere is relaxing and did not feel hurried.
