Great breakfast spot

Nice people , I just think they need to update the menu. Revamp it. Add more modern and customizable pancakes. Just an idea.

Food was just okay. Eggs were a little overcooked but the home fries were excellent.

Best breakfast joint around. Staff are always so incredible. For the people who review saying you can t have tattoos and go here, this is a complete lie. My husband and I both are covered in tattoos (full sleeves, neck tattoos ect.) and we have never felt any other way than an ordinary costumer. They are fast to serve you, extremely friendly and the food .. absolutely my favourite breakfast!!

Great little breakfast place!!

First time dining for breakfast today, had the Saturday special of Egg s Benedict. The food was excellent, much above what s expected from a small town diner. The owner is a really great guy as well! The type of business you want to support.

Coffee was little on strong side but Marley are server was great and friendly . Would ho again

I found it a little expensive. Potatoes were too salty. A plus they did have peanut butter and raspberry jam.

Decent diner style breakfast. Service was amazing. Food was standard fare but well done and everything was hot. Atmosphere is a little dark and somewhat dated but thats OK - its a diner.

Best Breakfast place! I come from Guelph to go here because it s that good. Owner is so friendly and loves to chat with customers. This family owned restaurant is cozy and makes you feel apart of their own family. Would 100% recommend.

The owner of this place is rude, arrogant, and has no idea how to deal with people, even children. I saw him yelling at a kid (with the parents present) for wearing his hoodie. The child was between 7-9. The mother handled herself so well, and had a few words with the owner. They ended up leaving (rightfully so), but I couldn t believe how the owner was speaking to someone else s kid. They say support local , I will NEVER go back to this establishment!!! Absolutely appalling!!!

The owner is a horrible person. Extremely judgemental, discriminates and is rude to employees and customers. Locals know to stay away from Horizons. It s not fine dining, it s mediocre diner food at best.

The owner of the place needs to come back to reality and realize that just because you re a man doesn t mean us women have to listen!! The way you attack people is absolutely disgusting your property your rules right!!! No that s not how it works. This place should be closed!!! This is an old school diner that I tried for breakfast for the first time this past Saturday. It was a hardy serving with eggs, ham, French toast, hash browns and rye toast. It was quite good

Owner is a terrible person when my friend had his hood on the back of his head, the owner came put his whole hand in my coffee and took all of our drinks and kicked us out, no warning about the hood rule

Never go back. The owner kick 6 kids out because one had a hoodie on. Not a nice place to go. The service was great and food.

This place is terrible, The servers are nice and the food is ok, but the owner is terrible. He saw my friend with his hood on for half a minute, then he came rudely and dipped his hand in my coffee and burned his hand, he grabbed our drinks and told us to get out, no warning or anything like that.

Pretty good food. Was there when the owner kicked a group of teenage boys out because one put his hood up. I know it says no hoodies on the door, but come on. The poor waitress had to be the one to calm the dining room. She handled it very well. I will not be going back here. I always wear my hood up. I wonder if it was me who put my hood up if hed kick me and my family out.

Stopped in for lunch. BLT and onion rings. Definitely hit the mark!

Perfect little family restaurant. My wife and I come every other week for breakfast. Faster than anywhere else in town, but most of all consistent. Weve been turned off one by one by other breakfast places in town. Never let down by Horizon. Dont be fooled by the negative reviews. It was review-bombed by people with manufactured outrage. Best breakfast place for my dollar.

Horrible experience! They were unable to accommodate my orange allergy (first time in 12 years I have had an issue). Apparently the cook doesn t know how to wash his/her knives (cuts everything with the same knife) or wash hos cutting board. We let the waitress know that we were leaving and we re then charged $5.99 for 2 coffees that we didn t even drink!!!! Horrible and worst service I have ever experienced! Would not recommend this place to anyone who has food allergies or sensitivities!

The make excellent classic breakfast

Although the food is excellent and the portions are generous, the owner/dictator was, in our case, unreasonable. Our friend joined us after a visit to the dentist. We all had a meal, but she was frozen and couldnt eat so opted to order a plate of fries as she thought she could get them into the one side of her mouth which wasnt frozen. The owner/chef/mr. unreasonable refused to give her an order of fries saying shell share a meal with her table mates. (which she wouldnt have been able to do). The wonderful waitress totally understood, but the dipstick in the kitchen refused her order. She changed it to poutine and he allowed that!!....Go figure!! At the same table, my wife couldnt eat her soup as it was far too salty. (..and my wife likes salt!) Another at the table also couldnt finish the soup for the same reason. She asked if she could substitute something else and was refused because nobody else had complained!! Theyve lost a table full of repeat customers. Wonderful customer service ....(he says VERY sarcastically) !

We, three adults had an early breakfast, I had the special with sausage, my daughter the special with bacon, and son in law the hungry man special. All the food was cooked the way we wanted ,tasty and in large portions. Good coffee too!

Horizon has the ultimate eggs Benedict on sundays. We have been going to this family run restaurant. They are so friendly and always happy. We love the service, food is all homemade and the owners and staff actually care. Can t say enough about how much we enjoy Horizon, Staff and the feeling of community. Thank you so much

Food is amazing and has been consistent for 20+ years could do without some of the odd rules imposed by the owner like not being allowed to wear my hood when eating my breakfast hung over but i guess I can compromise for a great meal

Terrible to children. The rudest service and experience we have ever had. Runner bringing our food out requested our (just turned) three year old not wear the hood on his shirt at the table. It was freezing inside (and out) and we had already coaxed him to take his toque and parka off. Obnoxious bossy and self-righteous staff. They don t deserve to be in the hospitality industry taking care of people.

Never tried their food, never will. Arrived at their door to get breakfast on the drive home and noticed a sign stating that anyone wearing a hoodie will be refused service. Guess what I was wearing. Funny how Fergus has a sign asking people to shop local. Well, I tried and this is what I got. Turns out the owners also detest tattoos, facial piercings and elderly people who dont have large appetites.

Great breakfast spot in Fergus. If you like homestyle cooking this is the place for you. For nowadays prices theyre comparable to whats out there. I recommend trying out this place for anytime dining. Then go for a stroll downtown, its just around the corner.

My wife and I have enjoyed breakfast in this establishment many times in our 7 years in Fergus. The food is always well-prepared, delicious & hot The quality is high & the portions are generous. In all that time & on every occasion the attitude of restaurant staff has been friendly, efficient & professional. When we think of breakfast out the Horizon is our first choice.

My sister n I meet our aunt n cousin here 2 to 3x a yr. Weve been meeting here for yrs. The service and food have always been pretty good. You get a huge amount of food. Service is good. Some of the servers have even remembered us all meeting for lunch! We had our last visit for 2018 just a few weeks ago. We were all very disappointed...all of us..the food was horrible. My beef dip was cold dry n the gravey just gross. I ate my salad! We were all very disappointed and hope it was just a bad day for the cool! But We are thinking we might try n find a new meeting place. Will probably meet in 2019 and see if it was just a bad day for the coo! This server served us for yrs. She was awesome. Then one luncheon.... she was gone.... Does anyone know where she works now? Well go to whatever restaurant!!

Ordered breakfast and the bacon came back super undercooked. I asked for them to put it back on the grill and they told me they couldnt but that I had to order a side and pay for it, in order to get crispy bacon. Super disappointed! I wanted to like them but that is such a basic request that I cant recommend them.

Could leave 0 stars if I could. Don t give a damn if the food is decent for some people. The establishment as a WHOLE is homophobic and it s disgusting. Why turn away business because your morals are disgusting and you have deeply rooted issues? Why the hell does it matter if two people are happy? How the hell does that effect you? I really hope this place goes out of business and more people become aware of this issue. Fergus is my hometown and has a huge place in my heart and we have no room for a business as disgusting as this. Re-evaluate yourselves, you ll feel a lot better when you stop hating people for being themselves. I m half expecting this to get deleted but I hope some people will see this review and decide to go to another business that supports the LGBTQ+ community.

Lovely place for breakfast. We frequent the place about once a month. The food has always been deliciously cooked and the staff have always been friendly and professional.

I was denied entry once due to refusing to put down hood, my hair was a complete disaster and had forgotten my hat. Upon arrival i was asked to remove my hood, I said no thank you (explaining my reason) then was asked to leave if I didnt remove my hood so I gladly left. On another occasion, I went in with my son to get breakfast, I was greeted very rude and abruptly, placing me at the smallest table with my son, no offer of a child booster seat(not like there was room to begin with due to location of my seat)resulting in my 2 year old son having to sit on my lap to eat, then once my food arrived, both plates were bigger than the table I was seated at, my drinks were barely able to fit on the table, making it very hard to feed my son and eat my breakfast also. I dont recommend this restaurant to anyone with tattoos or piercings, as for the treatment youll recieve will be reflected poorly upon your image. If I could rate this a 0 I would.

First time...and will be my last, really bad service.

My wife and I have eaten here several times in the past few years (including today). The service has always been consistently fast and efficient. The staff has been friendly and polite. The food is of good quality and is prepared with care. The entire restaurant (including the washrooms) are clean and well kept. Im struggling to see why some of these other reviewers have had such a bad experience? Theirs is in complete contrast to what we have experienced. Try it out!
