Lucky Lotus 97 - Authentic Thai and Vietnamese Food in Fergus

The food used to have an authentic vibe. Im not too sure who is preparing it now tho. It is hard to find good food in small towns but this place was promising.

Very authentic Thai cuisine. Best Pad Thai Ive had on a long time!

As a loyal customer since the day you guys opened, I have to say that tonight s pad Thai was quite a disappointment. The fact that you re using processed fake chicken breast and your pad Thai is disappointing, if I wanted to eat fake chicken, I would go to McDonald s or Burger King but I come to you for a healthy food and that s the last time.

I don t know how this place has such a good rating. The prices are really good for the portion sizes I will give them that but the quality was pretty low imo. Pad thai tasted like ketchup and the chicken was just defrosted pre-cooked chicken breast slices thrown in.

This is my honest review trying out lucky lotus for the first time. I recently moved to a small town from Barrie - and I used to visit all the best spots for Vietnamese Beef Pho that were local to me and even all over GTA. Ive had my fair share of bad, mediocre, alright, and amazing pho. I was pretty bummed out moving to a small town that didnt have much of diverse restaurants around but when I made a group posting asking the locals where the best Vietnamese places are to get pho a-lot of people recommended this location. Ive been wanting to visit for awhile as it is an hour drive away but I finally was able to visit and try it out. I ordered the Pad Thai, and the House Special Beef Pho. Ill start with the Pad Thai - as a disclosure Id like to mention that Ive never really had much Pad Thai as Ive had a negative experience in the past. However, I am starting to come around to eating it. I was very confused between the difference of the Pad Thai and the Peanut Pad Thai - I ended up ordering the Pad Thai and I think that was my first mistake as I should of ordered the Peanut one. While it was edible - it wasnt my preference but obviously other people like it so I may just not be a red sauce girl. I did order a side of the peanut sauce to try and I loved the peanut sauce! I would love to give the other dish a chance because had the sauces been swapped I think I would of thoroughly enjoyed it. Now for the Pho - since I drove a long way for pho I was really hoping this would hit the spot and feed that craving. For starters the price - in most Vietnamese restaurants X-Large Beef pho (insane size bowl) will run you the same cost as this. I was disappointed in the lack of sizing (small, medium, large, x-large) that youd typically find in most places. I was also disappointed that there wasnt a variety of the pho style ( rare beef only, tripe, etc ) I typically always get the rare beef, with extra rare beef added anywhere Ive visited - but this was not an option here. The House Special is one size, and contains rare beef, brisket, and beef balls. I dont mind beef balls but I know some people prefer rare beef only. As for the pho itself - its okay. I will say the broth ABSOLUTELY needs more aromatics - you know its a good bowl of pho when you can smell the aromatics in the restaurant as soon as you walk in - and especially when the bowl of pho is brought to you! Secondly... it needs more fat (flavour). Some of the best places Ive visited have the very aromatic, but super flavourful beef broth that shimmers - usually when you take home left overs and put it in the fridge you will see the fat oils solidify. I noticed that my pho was lacking in those areas and when I took it home and put it in the fridge there was hardly any fat oils that had solidified. Everything else was good quality. I prefer the smaller flat noodles but thats just preference - the beef was good quality, and the sides were fresh. I believe it was missing some culantro/cilantro and thai chili. Overall this dish is okay and good for being surrounded by rural towns but it could be really great. Id love to try it again but this was my experience for those who are die hard pho lovers.

I REALLY want to give this place a break. The food is wonderful IF you can get served. Their last seating for an 8pm closing is at 7pm!!! We only finish work at 7. Sometimes it s nice to go out and not have take out -which they sporadically decide when cut off time is. With the Fergus population growing businesses have to want to do business .unless they don t need the business??? Coming from 2 people who work in the service industry. It makes me so sad as we love their food!!!

Ordered to-go the first time, got chicken pad thai and basil beef stir fry. The beef in the basil dish was the best beef Ive eaten in any of these Asian food places. It was tender, not slimy like all the other places that overdo it with baking soda. It was lean and very tasty. The chicken pad thai was a huge portion, the taste was slightly better than average, but there was too many noodles. Would have loved to have more bean sprouts, protein, eggs, peanuts, and veggies. It was mostly slightly overcooked noodles.

I had the chefs noodles extra spicy, and they were the best plate of noodles I have had in a long time!

This has got to be the most mouthwatering Vietnamese food Ive tried in the Guelph area, and certainly the best in Fergus. You really cant go wrong with this place if you like Vietnamese food. Its all good here!!

I called in to place a take out order for a work birthday and I explained that I had a peanut allergy and the lady who took my order over the phone was very accommodating and reassured they would make sure the meal was safely prepared. I know going in that there is always a possibility of cross contamination, but I ve heard very good things about this restaurant. Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend.

Didn t get to try the food as one of the servers seemed to have not wanted our family there. We were looking for a table for 6, 4 adults and 2 children. One server said that it was fine she would move two tables together. The other server said that she had another reservation for 7 people and could not accommodate us. Then 5 minutes later she said that it was fine and that her table for 7 was not coming until later. Then when we were finally seated, the same unfriendly server came back and said that there were only 5 water glasses. There were 4 other tables to be cleaned, I counted 9 dirty water glasses. There s so much more I could go on about but it s not worth my time

The vermicelli dish is very dry and powdery, there isn t sauce to it, it s still good but you d have to add your own sauce, It s very spicy for mild as well. The pho is o.k, everything is just o.k, it s mediocre.

I have had lunch here a few times . Always a pleasant visit . Awesome friendly staff . Quick food delivery thats tasty and well presented and reasonably priced . Worth a visit for sure.

Amazing pad thai

I order here often. I have not dined in. Honestly, its been a hit and miss for me. Some weeks the food is amazing. Some weeks the food is Meh or they have forgotten the protein. We always phone ahead for take-out..... sometimes the food is ready when you get there. However, there have been plenty of times that it has been a 10 minute wait or 30 minute wait for the food. Definitely worth a try though

The food is decent. It is rather hit or miss in regards to getting your order right, more on the miss side. They ve missed proteins and always include peanuts, when specifically asked not to due to a nut allergy. Finally my name is not Lane. Update December 2023....they used the wrong noodles in my pho. Who is cooking back there?

Highly recommend the Drunken Noodles for a unique smoked spicy noodle dish. Their pad Thai is also very good. Portions are very generous for the price. Excellent choice.

So disappointing. We ve eaten here in the past and enjoyed it. No more. Spring rolls tasted like sawdust, seriously they had a strange powdery dry filling. The vermicelli bowl was ok, but the chicken had a cornstarch-sauce coating which was completely unnecessary. My husband s meal was a curry pad Thai that was ordered with chicken but had none. Just a lot of hot but not flavourful sauce with some vegetables and noodles. As I said, so disappointing.

I was absolutely blown away by the value and quality of this place. I felt like I was eating in a restaurant from 20 years ago. Complimentary tea, American portion sizes, and prices that didnt match in the customers advantage. I left this place with more bang for my buck than any meal out that Ive had in years.

First time visit. Had Peanut pad thai and it was excellent. The whole place was clean including the washrooms. The staff were courteous and informative. Only issue was the container of chop plastic sticks on each table. I asked for clean ones from the kitchen with no problems. Maybe management should re-think the placement of these away from the public.

Stop thinking about it and order from here already. They have the best service and the food is absolutely unreal! 10/10 recommend this place!!

Food tasted fine but it s LOADED with MSG, to the point where I woke up the evening after having it for dinner and was seriously dizzy, off balance and nauseous for hours after wards. I thought we were past using this garbage in food? Would not recommend this to anyone who doesn t want to be seriously debilitated by it for a considerable period of time. Food shouldn t be poison to you.

Amazing food and service! I ordered a spicy chicken pad Thai for take out. They prepared the food quickly at short notice. The space was clean, modern, and well lit. The pricing is very fair for the quality food received. The chicken pad Thai was incredible. All of the ingredients were fresh, the flavour was outstanding. The spice level was moderate. If youre a fan of spicy food, I recommend asking for it extra spicy. The floor and kitchen staff were friendly and attentive to me. The Lucky Lotus 97 is a must try. I will be back whenever Im in the area again.

Surprising Gem in Fergus! Im from London, ended up in Fergus for a medical appointment. WOW! was this place a gem to find. BUN BO HUE is my favorite dish and I have tried many in London and everywhere I go. I wasnt expecting much by the size of the city. But the soup base profile tasted like something my mom would make back home. I was very impressed by it. If you havent had the chance to try their BUN BO HUE for whatever reason. Dont be scared, This is a must try. I would definitely be back.

The drunken noodles were just way too sweet, and the noodles were not hydrated or stir fried properly. The green curry was very one dimensional and just not very good in general. Service was also very slow.

The food was very, delicious and so fresh. Service was incredible, the staff were gracious and attentive. The dining room was very clean and had a cool mural on the wall. The vibe was contemporary and relaxed.

Called to order 2 takeout dishes at 4:30pm and was told it would be ready for 5:45pm. Maybe this is the norm but unfortunately cancelled my order. I cant say as though any takeout is ever worth 1hr and 15mins especially for 2 small dishes.

Thankful for the wonderful service.** Went recently and ordered the General Tao chicken dish and it wasn t good at all. We typically love this place but were quite disappointed with the meal. Rather than resemble the classic general Tao, it was some unusual red tomato paste sauce. Didn t love.

If youre particular about flavours being authentic when you eat thai and the meals being constructed with the ingredients theyre intended to have, then this restaurant isnt for you. Lots lacking in the dishes I tried in that respect. But the service is great, the food is hot with fresh ingredients and the portion sizes are great value.

Amazing food and service. We have had take out numerous times and only have been able to eat in once because of the lockdowns, but the food has always been phenomenal. A real treat and great addition to Fergus.

We ordered yellow curry, beef broccoli and pad thai. Everything was tasty but the curry and broccoli tasted even better the next day. We went with mild but think we are ready to increase the heat next time around.

Apox 6 visits to this store. Chicken pad Thai each visit. Always good but two visits had almost no chicken in the chicken pad Thai. Recommended consistency as price is fairly high. Lack of chicken in the chicken pad Thai could lead to finding another place to dine.

Amazing experience ordering take out, very authentic and professional. Food was amazing, highly recommend chicken pho, drunken noodles, cheese wontons, and spring rolls. Top 3 meals Ive ever eaten. I have made fresh spring rolls at home for 5 years, the spring rolls here are a different approach and great tasting. Subtle sweet with the basil or mint. Portions are great for seconds the next day. Friendly service!

I m told that Spring Rolls are still made with Love by Man s Grandma. I think you can taste the quality. Honestly, Pad See Ew is one of the best in the world, ever, made by Chef Uncle. On point. You will crave it. Really a family place. Can t wait until they finally get their liquor license and we all can enjoy a real Thai BEvERage, like Singha please. Sonia is the best server on earth. Period. Always so attentive. Man made me a dish that I have been searching for, for 7 years now, to duplicate one I had on the streets of Bangkok. It was a nearly perfect copy. Best approach I ve tried outside of Bangkok (probably realistically tried it over 50 different times, in different Thai restaurants around the world), and nothing come close except what Man s Uncle created. Pad Kee Mao. Over the top good. Noodle dishes and deep fried spring rolls are all you need to know about this place. One improvement could be to get some hot authentic Asian tea to enjoy too. Just my $0.02.

Lucky Lotus has generous portions, very good prices, fantastic service, lovely decor, and of course tasty food. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

We were impressed with the quality and flavour of the various dishes we ordered. The mild versions were very tasty (ie mild, but definitely not bland), and the medium dishes were pleasantly spicy. Next time we will be more adventurous and try a couple of hot items. We were also happily surprised at the generous portion sizes and the overall value - a really nice combination that is getting hard to find. We look forward to ordering from Lucky Lotus again soon.

Great Thai food

Amazing food, excellent customer service, clean restaurant (including the restroom was super clean). Customer service was top-notch. The food was extra delicious and heathy and I ve never eaten any food in Canada that tasted like this beauty. Everything was amazing! All love and positivity from Toronto Canada to these guys. I visited this restaurant a week back along with my friends. Even though we reached there near their closing time the staff was very welcoming. We were served by Mariam we absolutely loved her service. Moreover the food quality and quantity was great!! We would love to visit this place again. Highly recommended

I ordered Singapore Noodles & Pineapple Fried Rice, both with shrimp as the protein of choice. The Singapore Noodles were fine and worthy of 4 stars but the Pineapple Fried Rice didnt have a single shrimp added to the dish. How do you manage to omit the main ingredient? Someone in the kitchen is definitely not paying attention. Sadly I will not be returning to this establishment.

This restuarant is beautiful, and the food is a really perfect balance on taking authentic flavours and making it approachable for Canadians. The owners really know what they are doing and I will definitely be back. Also, they have stunning photos in their dinning room. I often drive from Guelph... everything is so fresh and delicious!! I havent had something I dont like. Heads up- the chef goes on lunch around 2-3 every day so time your visit accordingly!!!

Made my annual visit to the Highland Games (back after a 2 year hiatus!) and decided to go off-site for some healthy food! My order of peanut sauce Pad Thai was excellent, loaded with peanuts; hot sauce on the side was perfect. Gal behind the counter (dark hair) was very helpful, and added to the experience. After reading reviews of the spring rolls, I wish I had ordered them too!. NYS has banned foam containers, and my server was very accommodating - found a reusable plastic one for me to take the rest home (hope Ontario follows suit on the foam!!) Planning on returning next year, the menu looks awesome, very fresh ingredients and tasty!! Thanks for being there!

I have been here a dozen times now, either for myself, for ordering for work lunches with coworkers, or for dinner with my kids the food is great quality super fresh and delicious! Prices are reasonable and staff is friendly and try to get orders out as quickly as possible. Deffintly one of the favorite places to go here in town.

Delicious Food and Amazing Service! Ordered incorrect items and didnt realize until I went to pick up the already prepared dishes. The super sweet staff member sensing my disappointment offered to have the dish I had actually meant to order made without faulting me for my mistake. The gesture was very much appreciated and we loved the Mi Xao!

In a huge city like Toronto, this would (for me) be a 4 star rating. However here in Fergus, this rates 5 stars. I spent a lot of time in the restaurant business in the city last century and I love Asian food of all kinds. Dont even think about comparing this to the other Thai place in town. The Menu is modest in size however everything is beautifully executed. Thats a very good thing for a new restaurant. Ive ordered several versions of the vermicelli bowls, their tempura shrimp, their fresh rolls, satays and their house pad Thai Everything is not only delicious, its inexpensive and the portions are terrific. In fact, I tend to ask to reduce the noodles a bit. They are trying to offer exceptional value. Sometimes small is better. Im a low carb kind of guy. Tip: Ask them for a little bit of the house hot sauce.... Its impressive. Delicious food, a polite, intelligent staff. Worth driving for. Winner. Vegetarian options: There are a few vegetarian/ vegan choices.

Came here on a referral from some co-workers, very happy I did. Absolutely delicious food. I ve never had Thai food before and this just blew me out of the water. Will absolutely be coming back - this time I know to order more of that amazing sauce!

Went to eat here recently. Had the pineapple rice, pad thai and beef with broccoli. At the suggestion of our wonderful server McKenzie we also tried the chef special noodles. The dishes were all excellent and we especially enjoyed the presentation of the pineapple rice. The service was excellent, the food was excellent, will certainly be back. Simply delicious food and friendly staff! Consistency and freshness are the reasons that keep us coming back for more. Some of our favourites are the Thai curry, House Phò, Vietnamese spring rolls, Pad Thai and the recently added Pork bánh mì. If you havent tried them out yet, you are truly missing out!

We ordered the pho and drunken noodles both were fantastic. Huge servings, enough for lunch the next day.

Lucky lotus has the best food and service I have ever received! I have eaten here a handful of times and it never fails to exceed my expectations! My favourite dish is the Drunken noodles :) The owner is super friendly and always puts his customers first! Last couple times I visited I had a server named Maryam, and she went above and beyond to make sure I had the best service. She was sweet, energetic, and very attentive! I can t wait to visit again! The first time I had ever experienced Thia food was at this restaurant, and I was NOT disappointed! I was a little nervous because I m not one for trying new foods, but my amazing server Abby recommended I try the Pad Thai! I have been a handful of times since and it s my go-to meal! (Pad thia with no onions lol) Amazing food, atmosphere, and staff! Abby definitely proved that great customer service still exists! And so does great local Thia food!!

Food was top tier, Fabian always makes an exquisite Honey Garlic that just melts in your mouth definitely looking forward to coming back here

William Willard introduced me to the restaurant this year. Friendly staff, lots of variety to choose from. Always delicious. Definitely is top spot on my list for Thai & Vietnamese food.

I have enjoyed Thai and Vietnamese food in their home countries and around the world. I was shocked to find such excellent food in Fergus. This is the best Ive tasted anywhere outside of Thailand. The menu is smaller than others but we tried four different dishes and they were all fabulous. We live almost an hour away but will definitely do the drive. The prices are fair, the serving sizes generous and the quality of the charts. Well done Lucky Lotus 97.

Happy i stumbled across this place while i was in Fergus. Well seasoned food and big portions. Clean and vibrant atmosphere for dine in. Service was also on point. Keep it up! :)

Very fresh and great quality, more options (ie. Vietnamese dishes) than can be found elsewhere in Fergus and surrounding areas. I recommend the chefs special noodle with beef and the beef short ribs with rice, both very good.

Very busy place. Translates into very good food. Had the pad that and it was saucy and very tasty. I little disorganized at the counter but it was to be expected with the out of orders being prepped. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Would recommend this place.

Wow!!!! Ive been wanting to try this newer restaurant in Fergus since it opened!! Im so glad I did!! The food was just incredible and the staff were amazing!!! The quality of the food is beyond compare, the portions are very generous and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

FOURTEEN Thumbs Up. We had some family over for dinner... instead of cooking, we ordered a variety of dishes for an adhoc buffet via takeout from Lucky Lotus 97. 4 of the 7 from out of town... they all raved about the variety, flavor and serving size. We put the dishes on our island.. all enjoyed the meal ... we also enjoyed the yummy left-overs. This is now our Family Gathering Standard!

I was so excited to try out the pho in my local area but I was a disappointed after ordering take out. I understand getting pho for take out is not the same as eating it in person but there a few things that should be done regardless if ordered as take out. I asked for just rare beef as they only have the option for rare beef, well done and beef balls all together. My take out lid said rare beef on it but when I opened it there was well done and beef balls which was pretty disappointing as they even wrote rare beef on the lid... my mother also got the pho and hers had bean sprouts and mine did not which was also disappointing.... there were sauces on the side but no lime or thai basil which is one of my favourite parts of pho. It s just not the same without. I must say the broth was one of the best I ve had but with all of the other errors I don t know if I d order again but might try dining in as this would probably be corrected.
