Blue Diamond Restaurant in Fort McMurray

Simply the best!

Let me start by saying this... Im really glad this place isnt out of the way. My wife picked it up on her way home from work, and she probably shouldve dragged this food behind the car the rest of the way home. That may have infused a little bit of flavour into this overpriced, boring, lifeless, uninspired, less-than-mediocre, chinese food. I honestly cant believe this place has been open as long as it has, serving food that can only be compared to boiled lawn clippings and leather boot straps. In fact, I believe the ginger beef may have been cut from the shoulder straps of a WW2 Taiwanese military issued rucksack. At least it was a jaw workout. Okay okay... maybe the only redeeming quality was the freshness of the vegetables in the drab moo-goo-gai-pan, or the tenderness of the (very scarce) beef in the watery curry... but then again... no. Would I recommend Blue Diamond? If youve read this far, I dont think I need to tell you.

I would say its the best restaurant in town, i dont even know why it has 3.3 stars, it deserves 5 completely

This food was awful. I would not recommend this restaurant. Spent 100$ on Chinese food that was not Chinese food it was noodles with meat and butter mixed together, do not waste your money here.

Waitress brought our plates which we were to. dish our food onto.. All good until my wife said look at your plate....well I know stuff happens but some kind of winged bug stuck to the plate and it was alive... Mrs told the waitress to look.theres a a bug on our plate...she looks and brushes it off. thats no.bug she said.. Really ruined our night out.. Sad thing is their food tastes good..lol. .

We want to support local businesses but you guys are forcing your customers to order through skip the dishes of which has horrible service. Good luck keeping your business going.

Great food; but why? You guys have to go to skip the dishes. Ill love to place an order but I dont want to continue feeding my neighbors. Skip the dishes has a horrible service in my area .I deleted the app and only use restaurants with own delivery services now. Sorry that you have to use skip

I ve been eating here for years and many years always the best

Very little flavor in my entire meal, black bean sauce was very watered down , noodles lacked flavor , chicken balls lacked flavor, sweet sour sauce runny an watered down, no pride what so ever and very little effort put into the meal . Very very disappointed

Just ordered food for takeout and everything was really good except the portions are very tiny for what you pay. Also ordered chow mein and there was literally 1 fork full of noodles... then when trying to call them to ask why, the phone wont go through.

Decent Western Style Chinese food. Good prices, good variety, hot food with generous portions. If youre looking for an authentic Chinese experience, this isnt the right place. If youre looking for tasty Ginger Beef, Fried Rice and Chop Suey, then this is the best in Fort McMurray. Edit: Since this review was posted theyve added the Vietnamese menu items from the closed Sweet Basil. Bonus!

My son got terrible food poisoning from here. Will never eat here again

First off sold the wrong order being more expensive for something I didnt want just to come back for mine told I was getting $10 back on my card just to find out she lied and charged me 10 more dollars for a cheaper meal! You can find better Chinese food in a dumpster not even worth trying shop elsewhere.

General Tso Chicken. A favourite of mine was absolutely destroyed. No clue what that was but it wasn t what I had expected. I m sorry, I shall not be back, sadly.

You can never phone in an order, too busy as the staff does 14 different jobs, get a front staff and make more money with more orders, easy but they are too cheap!

Chicken balls have way to much dough and hardly any chicken. Deep fried won tongs had no meat and were like twigs, tasted prolly the same as well. The egg rolls were way over cooked. Very disappointing.

A Fort McMurray business thats been around over 30 years. Phenomenal food as always.

Sent an order to my house (wrong house). Tried calling about 10 times over half an hour... no answer and voice mail was full. Was going to just walk it over if it was one of my neighbours. Based on the other reviews the food is likely going right in the trash can.

I have been ordering from Blue Diamond for years, ever since I discovered it when I moved to the Thickwood area. The food has always been on point, so much so that my coworkers all only order from Blue Diamond now. I usually get some sort of large combo for multiple people but tonight I was feeling rundown from being outdoors in the cold all day and felt like ordering soup. With my newly discovered love of SKIP the dishes I had many choices for soup but I thought I bet Blue Diamond has amazing soup... I ordered a Large Wor Wonton soup and an order of deep fried salt and pepper squid. Comfort food for someone who grew up in Vancouver. The soup came in TWO huge containers, the broth probably the most flavorful Ive ever tasted, loaded with veggies, chicken, BBQ pork and wontons (most places load up on carrot and onion and skimp on meat). The squid was super tender, exploding with flavor, with just the right amount of spice. If you havent tried Blue Diamond yet, get on SKIP the Dishes and order TONIGHT! Were all social distancing, you have nowhere else to be haha. Curl up on the couch with Netflix and enjoy the most delicious Chinese Cuisine in all of Fort Mac!

Worst squid that Ive ever had in my life!! I have extremely low expectations from anything derived from ft.mac,so It wasnt a shocker. These east coast gweilos will eat anything and think its good!!

DO NOT EAT HERE! Spent over 160$ got microwaved left over food they didnt sell, gravy didnt taste any thing of gravy it was a soap cardboard mix, i could litterly turn it horizontal like a blizzard from dq it was a harder pudding density. pre frozen uncooked chicken that had jelly like membrane from being frozen. Soon as I opened my food I immediately called they are open to 11pm tonight I have been calling non stop with no answer seriously avoid eating here!!!! I have documented photos and WILL!!!!!! Be calling food health and saftey first thing in the morning!!! Do not eat here please people they are going to get some one seriously sick or even worst a death!!!!!!!!

The food has been going downhill for a while. I could only eat 2 of the items we ordered. The taste was terrible and I dont trust the place anymore. Sad how far it has fallen.

Crushed Almond Chicken is inedible. The gravy made me want to puke. The deal fried wontons have no meat in them even though their menu states they do. Everything else was fine. I did not get good reception when I called in with my concern. Maybe they would be better if you dined in.

Affordable, delicious Chinese cuisine in generous servings.

Blue Diamond is that typical Chinese restaurant that has the best greasy food that you crave sometimes! I confess that I enjoy the food here. Shanghai noodles is one of my favorites from the menu. The only thing that annoys me is the styrofoam container that s used to deliver your food. The food is so hot that the container transfers some of that styrofoamy flavor to the food.

Fresh vegetables

I just fell in love with their foods. Succulent shrimps and chicken balls. They were so yummmmmmmy.

Standard Chinese food. Service is adequate but not great. Clean restaurant and friendly staff.

Consistent and good delivery service. Price is on high side but normal for this area.

Fried rice Blue diamond is very good. If comparing with others restaurants in town. It is just special friend rice but flavor is so good.

It was delivery, so I didnt experience the restaurant. I was warned, Chinese Food in Fort McMurray isnt good. So that prophesy was fulfilled, even if our stomachs werent. We ordered the regular Chinese fair, chow mein, pork, ginger beef, chicken balls. I can say, dont order the western style chicken chow mein, the sweet and sour pork was the only thing that was okay. No one refilled their plates and some left food on their plate. All verbally expressed disappointment. Sad, sad, sad

It s rare that this restaurant with Chinese characteristics can actually eat Peking duck.

My experience was about 1/2 and 1/2. Had a combo plate. Most of the food was good, butt the rice was stale stake and the coffee was just not good.

The only place in town that does fried rice well. Order the house special rice.

Made an order for take out. Food was hot and tasted good! Lots of fresh ingrediants. Portion size was good and food prices were good.

Generally disappointed and very unhappy. We ordered and it took 19 minutes longer for my wife to get a BIT than it took me to get my Chinese combo plate. The bacon on her BLT was burned and came from the microwavable bacon. Her miracle whip was horrible and the ketchup was generic in a hienz bottle. The chicken balls were raw and then they had the nerve to tell me that they should be that way! The rice was hard and disgusting. The quality of food is FAR below the posted price. Customer service was not decent. After the entire thing and multiple brought up issues I received $4 off my bill! Will not be returning here.

The Atmosphere: The afternoon I was there there was an individule using the toilet. Much to my surprise the exhaust vent discharged into the open ceiling of the restaurant causing a pretty funky atmosphere while dining. The Food: Well what can I say not the greatest and not the best. Its Ft. Mac.....people will eat anything delivered or not. The previous owners were far better cooks. The Price: Well here again its Ft. Mac. Nobody here seems to have any sence of value around here and the buisness here do not have to rely on repeat customers. So you dont get what you paid for....only half. Would I come back?......of course......where else can I go?

Good but microwaved rice was better than most properly cooked rice in town at other restaurants.

Used to order here all the time not sure what happened??? Raw chicken in chicken balls, burnt ginger beef, raw veg, ribs were garbage. $47 dinner for two and an $8 delivery charge to deliver downtown??? It definitely wont happen again!!

Always consistently good here. Ive had it a bunch of times delivered and I ate there as well. You can also request no msg, food tastes very fresh.

RUDE! Their website says theyre open until 12pm on Saturdays. I called at 11:30pm, which Ill grant you, might have been too late to get a delivery, which is fine. What isnt fine, is saying We close at 11, ok? Bye. and hanging up.

The food was very buttpooesque. I felt a warm sensation after eating. I would recommend the fortune cookies worldwide.

Service is ridiculous. they waited an hour after i ordered to tell me their debit machine was with another driver and didnt tell me how long it was going to take to get it back. Had to eventually cancel my order.
