Gahan House Riverside in Fredericton

I just love the gahan house!!! I ordered my salad today and did not expect this when I said please don t forget my dressing as I love the pickled beet salad with Cajun chicken more than any salad in Fredericton! (For real it s the best) and they just always go above and beyond here. Also, that salad I just devoured was totally made with love. Thank you gahan house Fredericton!!!

Always a great place for beer and food. Never pass up the oysters.!

Food was marginal at best. If you want to wait forever to get your food this is the spot for you.

I had their beef melt which essentially tasted like a fancy sloppy joe, not bad but not what I expected. Their fancy fries absolutely killed it though. All in all I would definitely eat there again.

Stopped in for lunch. The fish and chips were expertly prepared though the fries were over seasoned to my taste. Service was a bit slow. Ill be back.

We had a delicious fish and chips dinner tonight but did it through take out. Our friend who picked it up was not enthusiastically Recieved by staff but the meal was still delicious!

We think it was a nice pub but the service is really terrible. We were greeted at the door but after that down hill. It was also freezing in there. A/C on when it was only 10 Celsius outside. Blowing so hard it moved a paper from my husbands flights he ordered. Food was good but to hard to enjoy it when you are shivering and no server to check up on you or bring you your bill. Parking: Street parking. There was an event happening so I m sure it was more difficult than usual.

We had dinner here last night and our service was phenomenal but I ordered the large Pickled Beat Salad with chicken which was $23. While the salad was OKish in terms of flavour, it was supposed to have candied pecans, goat cheese and tomatoes in it and there was barely any of those ingredients and I didn t even see the goat cheese. I basically spent $23 before taxes on mixed greens that were drenched in dressing. I generally love the Gahan restaurants other places but I unfortunately find Fredericton s overpriced for what you actually get

Good value for money

We just had a quick snack, some baked oysters! Which were very good! But really its location, location you know.. pretty deck outback too!

Food was very good service was great and a great place to have a quiet drin

Our group gave thumbs up for the PEI mussels, baked oysters, berry salad, blackened haddock, and blueberry ale. The backyard patio is relaxing and comfortable with nice greenery.

Terrific experience and great atmosphere. Weeknight dinner in down town Fredericton. Calm and relaxing with great service and food. A real plus.

Very tasty oysters and home-brewed beer

We had the PEI Muscles, and Seafood Chowder. To drink, I had the Raspberry Sour. Everything was phenomenal. Blueberry Ale is my favourite beer, I usually drive to Ontario from Quebec just to get it.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Fredericton. The restaurant is beautiful and chic. The food is very delicious, and I have tried several dishes. The staff is great. Highly recommend!

An odd experience. After several recommendations we tried to go to Gahan House on a Sunday night. At about 6:30pm the host told us they didn t have availability and to come back in an hour. When we returned an hour later she told us they were not accepting any walk-ins, period. We made a reservation for the following night. The server was terse, trying to spend as little time communicating as possible. Drinks, oysters, and the seafood chowder were delicious. Steak frites were middling. Dessert was a great addition. We didn t realize we had been charged for an additional dessert we hadn t ordered until it was too late and our payment had been processed. There is a great selection of nice restaurants in downtown Fredericton and this wouldn t be at the top of my list after this experience.

First time at Gahan house with my friend was an excellent experience. Thankfully we made a reservation, as they were quite busy. Nacho app was great, the pickled beet and spinach salad were a hit. I think next time I will get the dressing on the side. I preferred the pickled beet over the spinach. My friend had the chicken chorizo penne which was amazing. Beer tasted great as did the cocktails. The cheesecake at the end was very heavy, but delicious- A great treat to share for sure. Our server was excellent, and attentive. I would recommend.

Great food and service!

Tried their sweet potato tostadas with roasted potatoes - was quite fresh and good, a bit on the bland side. Their peach on the choir cocktail was pretty refreshing. Dish of the night had to be shortcake - the strawberry compote was a bit sweet but the shortcake with the whipped cream was too good; literally melted in my mouth! We had to wait a bit before getting seated even though we had a reservation but service was pretty fast and our servers were really nice! Updated: Had a girls night out at Gahan House tonight - I had their Burrito bowl and it was so flavourful! The spice, the sides just made everything taste so good and fresh! A friend of mine tried their duck tacos - the duck was a bit chewy and bland. So they still get a 4 out of 5 stars on the food! Our server was very nice and polite! They definitely up their game when it comes to customer service!!! Definitely recommend!

I was very disappointed by the service. Our server did not check when our glasses were empty or if we were enjoying our meal. She was cold and crisp in a restaurant that maybe had 4 people. You could tell she didn t wait to be working on Sunday. Food was okay.

Every time I go to gahan the servers are always so nice it s always a good vibe in there and the food never takes to long I would recommend trying there chicken fingers they are my personal favourite! Really enjoyable experience, food and service were all lovely. My only tiny gripe is that the lighting over the booths is a smidge too bright, its very close to the perfect moody atmosphere if they went with a warmer bulb. Food : 5/5

The raspberry beer was great and they have sampler dishes from 3 to 5 pm. An awesome way to get to taste a little bit of everything.

The childrens menu is very good and a good portion. The atmosphere is excellent. The service is very good. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian menu and gluten-free menu.

Have a good time with the family. Good selection of house beers that can suit all tastes. Oysters are excellent for amateurs. The service responds well to this type of restaurant (resto-bar). A little noisy but that also goes with the nature of the restaurant. Enjoyed our visit to this little restaurant in Fredericton.

I enjoy that the restaurant is inside of an old bank. The high ceilings create a unique environment. Server was kind and took great care of us. I had the Fried Chicken Sandwich with sweet potato fries. Sandwich didn t blow my socks off but I enjoyed it. Sweet potato fries on the other hand were so good, especially paired with the sauce. I also enjoyed a Blonde ale that paired well with the sandwich!

Had dinner here on NYE and they were able to squeeze us in without a reservation. The food is delicious, the Gahan spiced fries are something I crave and have to get every time I go. First time trying the hard root beer, and I highly recommend it.

This restaurant has great service and a great atmosphere but I dont love the menu. Its great for a few drinks and an appetizer (The nachos are very good). Went for Dine Around Freddy and the food was good but I wasnt wowed by any of it and the portions were quite small.

Excellent food, awesome service. We had beef melt and Ring bearers burger. The beef melt tasted really good and the burger was juicy and with a sturdy bun.

The food was very good, the service was excellent but the kitchen was slow because of the number of customers.

Second time there and still great! Tuesday is wine night, Wednesday is hangover day

Decent regional chain; the hard root beer wasnt very sweet but had a good taste to it. The steak was also properly cooked as requested, and came with a generous serving of compound butter. Graduation dinner the service was great the food was amazing! We started with Mussels and Wings. Than the main courses the Curry Chicken was so good. Everything was prepared beautiful and our server was top notch. Definitely will return there when we are back in town.

They have some very tasty beers, and a big selection. You should be able to find something you like. They do curated flights, so the beer is very approachable.

Food was good, but very overpriced. $18 for 2 small, basic tacos? Not worth it. We ordered a burger, tacos (again, only comes with 2), and a beer. Total with tax and 15% tip came to $70. Wouldnt go back, although the burger was very tasty. Waitress was the bare minimum politeness but didnt check on us, didnt provide napkins, and obviously didnt like her job. The table over was rowdy, drunk, and yelling.

Ordered the spinach salad, and it would have been delicious, however, it was missing the cranberries and spiced walnuts. By the time I caught the attention of the server, my lunch date was almost finished, and I was left waiting for the final two ingredients to be served.

We particularly liked the Oysters, Tuna Tartare (wonton chips were AMAZING), fries, and Seafood Chowder (packed with seafood). The Bean Dip was more of a salsa than a dip, which we were a bit disappointed about but the chips were fresh. The Beef Dip and the Veggie Burger were good, nothing exceptional. For drinks, we enjoyed Sour Raspberry, Honey Wheat Ale, and the Sydney Street Stout. Service was quite slow waiting for our food and the bill - we ended up being there for 2+ hours. Otherwise, our server was very friendly and nice.

Great oysters

Staff was especially kind and understanding. I had broken a Gahan glass that was very dear to me, they listened to my sappy store and sold me the glass at à very fair price. The manager was very nice. This meant a lot to me and they got it. With that type of service, no double that the dining experience will be awesome . Thanks again.

Calamari was on point, and so was the pork tacos and the craft beer as usual. Service was ok. Little slow, maybe server was new. Asking everytime if he can take your glass and plate(s) away after observing they are clearly empty and cleaned of all contents, is a little odd. Anyways. Gahan is a favorite of mine.

Ive been to Gahan House in Halifax with a stellar experience. So I decided to take my family there yesterday Aug 14th. My family and I stood all together at the front waiting to be seated. Another couple entered and waited for a few moments and left. We ended up leaving after a solid 4 minutes. There were 2 customs sitting at the bar and maybe 3 tables max of customers. A bar tender, a lady walking up and down the stairs, and saw two more staff members standing in the back left corner near the computer, chatting. The place was dead. After 4 minutes we just left. We were excited to try this location and were disappointed with the lack of attentiveness.

Steak was really good

Great atmosphere for lunch or diner with friends. On the top end of price for quality. Good pub food. Vegetarian options: Few vegetarian options or healthy eating options. Dietary restrictions: Not much on terms of gluten free. Not indicated on menu.

My favorite place for oysters

Started off with fresh oysters and home brewed beer. Haddock tacos with jalapeño was a punch, wings with signature rub and PEI mussels. Afterall great service for a wonderful Saturday evening.

The food was delicious! We took chicken curry which was absolutely tasty. The service was shared between two people: a guy that was very nice and a lady who seemed so at first. She took the order, but the guy served us and was more with us a little bit. Then we asked to pay, she comes with the bill, we pay cash with 100$ for s bill of 60$ and we said to bring back 30$, so we would leave 10$, which is 16% tipp. To me it is ok considering she was not even the person who served us. She repeated, so I owe you 13$?? We said no twice and repeated the number 30$. SHE COMES BACK WITH 13$ We are shocked. How can she not understand what we repeated both twice, even saying each number 3..0 individually We say it again and then she looks annoyed and finally comes back with the amount we asked. This is awkward and bad! She should know that leaving 50% tipp, 27$ is too much for a service she did not give herself (her colleague served us)! I understand tipp is important, but this is going too far, thinking we don t understand english or we won t dare to ask for the right amount. Again, food was amazing, but the last interaction was just too much

Food is good, but getting growlers isnt a great experience. There is no option to swap out the bottle as other breweries do (theyll take your old one and charge you $5 for a new one - that you cant return), and they dont have the equipment to sterilize the bottle before filling it up. So you need to sterilize it yourself or buy another growler. Its just not in line with what we experience with other breweries here.

The service was amazing! Everyone really enjoyed their oysters and seafood. I had the vegan dish and unfortunately it was not good. It was extremely burnt almost uneatable. The French fries were great though. I do appreciate the vegan option but the price did not match the dish. It could use some creativity and make it more fresh than fried

Started off with a funny joke from our hostess! Was seated and served by Jenny, very pleasant and made great recommendations for Nacho week selections. Smoke show margarita was kick a$$,, strong and unique (like Christopher Walken). Sampled the Drive Thru and Seoul Good nachos; both had great taste but the Seoul would win between the two for us. Thanks Jenny for being awesome!

Delicious, pricy but, Delicious

Went there around 6 on Tuesday and it was not busy. Good selection of beer and food was pretty good. Service was excellent. One of my go to restaurants to visit when Im out in the Atlantic provinces.

I cant say enough good things about this place. The steak was cooked perfectly to med rare. The scallops were also cooked perfectly. Texture was like butter. But for me the star of the show was the mustard stout potatoes. I do not like either mustard or beer, but these were absolutely my favorite part of the meal. I wanted to order some to bring home.

Amazing food, service and consistency. Also our server said your kitchen staff may change the mac and cheese. Dont do it! I could eat that night after night. Hard to find food that tastes the same each time, amazing! A+++!

Went for dinner with a small group - the menu and food were great! Service was good - our server didnt introduce herself, and there were several that came to the table to drop off/ pick up. All were polite, but none really grabbed our attention. Will definitely be back to try some other items on the menu though!

We came here for our anniversary. This time with our baby. They offered us a highchair and a cute kids cup with a straw. Our baby is able to use a straw now as well. As usual the food was delicious and the service was excellent. We will definetly be coming as long as living in the maritimes.

Based on the food only as I ordered the Coconut Curry Chicken and had it delivered. I was surprised by the small portion size but I never eat an entire meal from a restaurant so I wasnt bothered. But unfortunately the Coconut Curry sauce was SO salty that it was not edible. I tossed it in the trash and ordered something from another spot.

We are from out of town and this place was recommended Came here and OMG! The beet salad was the best. Highly recommend that get the large. The fish tacos were ok and the quinoa salad bowl was delish.

Great food. Great service. I had the cauliflower tacos which where very good. My friend had the chicken sandwich which he said was the best ever. We had our kids with us who had burgers and chicken tenders which where also very good. Definitely would go again.

Oysters amazing. Mussels delicious. But From the moment we sat down the service was terrible. I dont know if it was because it was so hot but honestly we were there to have a great night out. We wanted to order more but now the waitress wouldn t allow it. The waitress ruined the evening despite spending $300.

Perfect place for a pint!

A range of beers, which can be sampled in smaller glasses on a flight, a rack of 4 different beers, referred to in France (and maybe Quebec??) as a pallette. The bar was nice and quiet and cool in the afternoon I was there.

Super friendly waitress. Very nice, well-appointed terrace. Very generous plate even in the childrens menu. Excellent food and good beers.

The atmosphere is great. Beer pairings are offered on the menu. And theres a great deal for oysters and beer after 9 pm, where you can get 3 different types of oyster with a house made beer-sauce. Very cool.

After mentioning at the front that I needed to order take out - I was sent to the bar with a menu to look at and order. I sat at the bar for over 15 minutes before I was even acknowledged. Other patrons at the bar were served, but I was walked past multiple times with no acknowledgement that I was sitting there waiting to order. As I was about to walk out, that was when someone who wasn t working behind the bar asked if I needed to order and got my food.

Food and service were great, might need to come back and try some beers

Our group of 12 had a wonderful evening on the mezzanine enjoying drinks and appetizers - we ordered nachos, chicken wings, buffalo cauliflower bites, jalapeño cheese dip, and calamari. It was all delicious. Our server was fantastic and she had everything set up nicely before we arrived. Definitely a great way to have a small celebration!

Loved the food and atmosphere. Service was great. Had the steak frites. Delicious ! Also, super crispy calamari was a great starter!

The Steak Frite was excellent, and cooked to perfection. The fries were heavenly. The aioli was exceptional.

The food was not reasonable. My friend got a mussel that was bad. Several of us had the nacho plates - the nachos were stuck to the paper underneath them

Went for lunch today with some coworkers. The food was great but the experience left me anxious and panicked. I have a life threatening allergy to celery. I ordered my food without seasonings (in case their blend had celery salt or whatever in it). And I told my waitress at the time of ordering that I was deathly allergic to all forms and she assured me I would be fine. I get through about a third of my meal and the waitress comes out and goes « who has the celery allergy? » my heart and jaw drops. Apparently the house made tartar sauce has celery in it. Luckily, I took it off my plate and didn t touch or inject the sauce because it could ve been deadly. You would think that if a sauce is house made then the ingredients would be widely known by the cooks and the communication from the server to the cooks would ve been made. I didn t receive an apology but they did take 9$ off my bill for « my issue ». I would love to feel safe eating there again but I don t think I would be able to.
