It had been quite a while since I was here last and the food quality was great. Just as good as I expected. Highly recommend this place for Chinese food.
I do not go very often, there food has certainly gone downhill. There Cantonese chow mein was not very flavorful. I tried there beef lo mein, which is usually delish. This time the beef was tough, way too much garlic and dry. 😞
The Diplomat Restaurant in Fredericton offers a solid dining experience. The atmosphere is comfortable, and the staff are friendly and attentive, adding to an overall pleasant visit. The menu has a wide variety, with something for almost every taste. We tried the buffet, and while some dishes stood out more than others, everything was well-prepared and fresh. The seafood options were enjoyable, and there was a good range of desserts. Service was efficient. Overall, The Diplomat is a reliable choice if you’re in the area and looking for a diverse menu in a relaxed setting.
We went for lunch buffet from our company. 1. No name card on dishes 2. We did not like the taste of the food ( wings , chicken balls , noodles, egg rice , etc.. )and also the options. 3. Dessert they just had four flavours. Some positives Out of all the food , things which were closer to decent are 1. Mussels 2. Caesar salad
Went for the first time today. Service was very good and the food was excellent. It's a nice, clean place. I took 1 star away as it's a smaller buffet and not a lot of selection, but they also have a menu for other items. What I saw delivered to other tables looked amazing (large portions). Would go again.
After seeing good online reviews, I came to this restaurant to eat. However, it turned out to be a Canadian-style Chinese restaurant with sweet-flavored food. Almost all the dishes and sauces were either sweet or sour. The mussels were dry, and the fried chicken wings were also very dry. Overall, the buffet had average flavor, limited variety, but the service was fine.
We are touring Atlantic Canada and headed to NFLD so was looking forward to a dinner that did not include french fries. The Diplomat was next to our B and B so perfect after an 8 hour drive from Gaspé. Gary was an amazing server, personable and funny - and deserved 10 stars. The Egg rolls were very fresh and warranted 4-5 stars as did the apple cream pie dessert. Unfortunately our litmus test for a Chinese Canadian restaurant’s food - having both grown up in the biz - is ordering the Cantonese Chowmein (CCM). Any Chinese restaurant worth its salt should be able to make this traditional dish - much like the simple Club Sandwich is the bar for diners. The meat and vegetables mix was right on point as was the accompanying sauce. BUT PLEASE STOP USING THE FAT EGG NOODLES. It made the dish literally inedible as the noodles were in hard clumps that were literally teeth shattering. My wife and I were worried we were both going to chip a tooth. It’s an insult to the other Canadian Chinese restaurants who have perfected this dish. You should be using the thin Cantonese egg Noodles supplied by WINGS in Montreal to all of Canada - since you already order your fortune cookies from them you should ask about their noodles (see photos attached). This is an example of a good restaurant rating ruined by a signature dish that is the norm in similar restaurants in Canada if not the world. (see attached photos)
Feb. 14 , 2024. Was busier than normal. Waited about 15 min to sit. It was lunchtime. Not bad at all. Food was very good. We got the buffet. Very fresh and hot. Wings were excellent ! Service was exceptional. Smiles everywhere. WILL BE BACK !!
Good food and good service Dietary restrictions: Good food Parking: A lot of parking spaces Kid-friendliness: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
Wonderful place for gathering. Friendly and kindly staff who I would mention Audra. Parking: Big area Kid-friendliness: Nice and friendly
Always a great place to eat. Excellent staff. Had the buffet tonight.
Nice Chinese buffet for an affordable price. The food was fresh and delicious.
Always delicious and fresh
Been there for years, mostly for lunch. Pre-covid menu excellent. Now, bad food, little choice and for 20$ not worth it. The dining room was almost empty, a bad sign. Best buffet lunch elsewhere at 13$. Out of business soon.
Buffet is limited. I would try ordering from menu.
Moved to Fredericton recently and decided to try the legendary Diplomat. Was encouraged by the full parking lot,and line of people waiting to be seated. I presume they did not order from their Chinese food menu. Ordered the dinner for 2 for takeout. Wonton soup was thin and had no flavour, the exception being the filling in the wontons. The sweet and sour chicken balls were literally coated in 1/2 inch of gummy batter, the chicken having the consistency and texture of the rubber variety. The chicken fried rice appeared to be simply steamed rice mixed with bits of chicken peas and mushrooms, with none of the smoky flavour that is a staple of the dish. The chicken Chow Mein looked promising as it appeared heavy on the vegetable side versus the usually mainly bean sprout versions one normally gets with run of the mill chinese takeout, but the bed of noodles was a hardened starchy lump in the middle of the bowl, soaking in a flavourless broth. The honey garlic spareribs were the only barely flickering bright spot as the thin broth they were cooked in had some semblance of flavour, however, the ribs themselves tasted as though they were simply dumped in the broth to cook, without any pre browning of the meat.
The Dip is now open at 9 am on Saturday and Sunday, and is a good breakfast option.
Best balls in town
Great service and food ,thanks
Chicken balls and sauce rock my world. Its a restaurant for old people though. Nothing wrong with that, just a different vibe. Ill come back for sure
Great menu. Always good food. Friendly staff. Food
Good Chinese Buffet
Great food and atmosphere. Friendly service.
Love it here. Great service. Great food.
Opted to try their Chinese buffet. Other folks in my party chose Chinese combos. In retrospect I should have too. Some items on the buffet seemed under cooked and another has spent a little too much time under the heat lamps. When I gazed across the table at the same items I will admit to feeling I had made a mistake
Diplomat Restaurant offers authentic Persian food. The saffron rice and kebabs were flavorful, and the service was friendly and efficient. A must-visit!
Great food, and no nonsense loud obnoxious music
Amazing place Parking: Fredricton NB Food : 5/5 |
Lots of fun, very nice and comical waitress and everything was excellent.
It was good and fast ,we had breakfast ,and it was very good Parking: Fredericton, nb it has a small parking lot and very tight to get around. Food : 2/5 |
Great tasting food
The food was good service was good it is very small buffet with limited choices
Food was excellent.
The take out and sit down food is excellent, the buffet food less so. Price is a little above average, but the wait staff is so far above and beyond its silly. I rarely leave not perfectly satisfied.
This place is just ok.. the price is the killer not very many selections to choose from
We had the Chinese buffet...it was absolutely delicious. The dishes were fresh and hot.
First time here, nothing special, no desserts besides ice cream at lunch time. Food was okay but for $25 they should of had a couple nice desserts like cakes or squares.
Great place to eat with awesome service
My 93 year old aunt has always loved coming here for lunch. It is always good food and we have a great time. Until next time!
Beautiful Buffet setting. Wish it had more options
Just enjoyed the best Chinese food I ve had in years. Had a huge feed delivered for 24 of us and it arrived hot, fresh and delicious.. you would swear it just came right out of the kitchen. Slam dunk. 6 stars.
Pot stickers are horrible. Steamed dumplings are worse. Chicken balls are doughy and Bland. Fried rice is not fried- white and mushy. We have been coming to the Dip forever and were so so so disappointed today. We had 5 out of town guests. On a brighter note my mother enjoyed her shrimp noodles.
From the menu, it seems like the restaurant is run by Hong Kong people. The giant, thick-skinned wontons are like dumplings. And the seafood chow mein tastes very Canadian. The Singaporean curry chow mein has a rather bland curry flavor. The fried chicken wings are quite ordinary and a bit dry. Overall, its a Canadian-style adaptation of Chinese cuisine. The waitress is very nice and provides excellent service.
My son and I ate here recently during our visit to Fredericton. The food, service and atmosphere were terrific. I highly recommend eating here!
Wonderful service by the staffs with excellent dishes
Very good kitchen, clean!
Friday evenings buffet as a regular. They have a wonderful staff that takes the time to talk to you. One my favorite places in Fredericton.
Good food. Rude server. Almost left instead because of her.
Dont waste your time and money. The Diplomat makes a mockery of Chinese food. Our meal was a bland, flavourless, mess, and the chicken fried rice was gooey. Our server seemed surprised that we ate so little and didnt ask for take-home containers. The worst Chinese restaurant in Toronto could run circles around this place.
The spicy chicken sandwich was not spicy at all!!!!! Mid restaurant
If you love Persian food, you ll love this place. The pizza was amazing, and the belly dancer was a fun addition to the night.
The food and staff was good.
Buffet is mediocre at best. Only seafood was mussels and cold shrimp. Staff was kind and attentive. Way over priced.
Not bad, service is ok.
Pretty good food, but a little pricey for the buffet for the options available.
This use to be the best Chinese in Fredericton. It was the worse we ever had. Zero favour. Bland. It s like they never heard of Asian seasoning. We were all so disappointed we left most of the $220 meal on the table. We will never be back. We do not recommend to anyone. It s awful. Nuff said.
gettin on my nerves hangry with no all u can eat tf
21 dollars for Buffett cant beat it .. amazing food great service.
Holy everyone working there was miserable. The guy taking us to our table just walked away without telling us to even follow him. The waitress taking our order asked for drinks i ordered a milkshake you swear i asked for something impossible to get.. then we are eating she takes one of the fellas plate when he s still eating. We still weren t finished our meal and she brought the bill and the machine to pay.. besides that we had the buffet it was meh it s not what it used to be and definitely not worth the 23$. The dip used to be a go to spot definitely fell off. Won t be back for a while.
I come for the lemon chicken for my birthday and our anniversary every year.
Beef and brocoli is excellent Price is right with what you get Will come back thanks ! Food : 4/5
Lunch buffet is super and price was cheap at first (don t increase it please ):since McDonald s cost you 20$ now a day , / you can t beat it and it s a real actual food/so it s best option if you want real food (:you can t beat the wings /: the only item never seen taste anywhere else/: not comparable to pub wings / you don t need a sauce (:
Always friendly service!!
The waitress was so kind and attentive but the Chinese buffet was the absolute worse tasting food I have ever tried in my life... Seriously ..
We travelled from Saint John with an other couple and the restaurant was not open do to power outage!
Great place great service
Did not see clear identification for people with peanut allergies in the buffett, food with no seafood still smelled amd tasted of fish... Dietary restrictions: Seafood, peanuts and peanut butter
Parking: Wide spots Food
Buffet is excellent and good choices.
I love the food here. I always take out, never eat in - so I dont tip much and I can see the look on the faces of servers when I do. Which is why for service my rating wasnt as high
We often ate at the dip when I lived local. Went back with a family of 11 and had a wonderful experience. Service was excellent and they had a diverse menu that was great for all of us. Love this restaurant. Dietary restrictions: We had a lot of diet restrictions and severe food allergies and were able to be accommodated and had safe options to eat. More accommodating than most places.
The Diplomat is a tired old restaurant. The food only draws people for the high salt content. Much like watching live stock at the salt lick. The tea is tepid. Water should be boiling hot for tea. Fountain pop lacks carbonation. Great for in-laws you hate. Next time I will go to Chong s place in Brookside mall. Far better food.
Awesome food and service !!!
We are visiting Fredericton and the Diplomats buffet was highly recommended to us. Its a Thursday evening and we are a family of 5. We were disappointed to discover that the buffet was not operational when we arrived this evening. The prices for individual/single servings exceeded our family budget and my family have insatiable appetites. Though we did not get to delight in a feast that we were anticipating, the staff were kind and gracious to us when we had to leave and find another place to feed our brood.
The food was delicious, and a good selection, nice and warm. we went for the buffet, and it was a good price. we will be back again.
I initially went for the buffet, but sadly the options were very limited for a buffet so I settled for the pancakes, sausage & homefries - that meal made up for the disappointment!
Food was excellent and service was exceptional and it wasnt busy when we went
Did not care for the food it was almost tasteless. The chow main was cut up into chunks so the you had to stab every piece. I detest having to stab your food for every bite. The food came out just warm and cooled very quickly. The music was way to loud and the place felt crammed. The service was fantastic, very kind and friendly. But I would not recommend this as a place to dine.
Expensive for a buffet
Buffet doesnt have much to offer..maybe they should add more to choose from.. the price is high for what they have .
Really enjoyed our dinner here. We decided to try the buffet and was not disappointed by the quality in food.
I was very happy with everything
I have dined here twice in both times. The service and food were exemplary. We drive from 1 and 1/2 hours north because it is just so good.
The restaurant was fairly outdated inside but was clean. The food left a lot to be desired for me personally, it was just average and nothing really stood out. They had a buffet the night we were there, which we did not get, as it was almost $45 and did not seem worth that price at all unfortunately.
The food is NOT EDIBLE. The fried in fried rice got lost somewhere in the kitchen and how do you not untangle your noodles before cooking? The noodles are just cooked like it was straight out of the freezer into the pan and you have to STAB it to eat it and it s not even edible . Flavours .. LOST ! Got beef and broccoli but was more like broccoli with a cameo of 2 seconds for beef. It s more like microwaved warm than cooked warm. It s like the meat in the dishes took a skinny dip in oil and came out. There s no way to describe the rice besides the fact that it s just nasty. This restaurant should be on kitchen nightmare. Cakes - go to Costco
Overpriced for bland food, seasonings have been lost on the way to the pan, but the cake s good. Very very salty and BLAND. Not anywhere worth the price.
The food was not fresh and over salted . I could barely eat any of my combo #4. My husband s Cantonese chow mein was not Cantonese chow mein. It is not good value for what you get. What a shame. The atmosphere was dated and some of the wall art was a little gross looking. The staff was kind and attentive, but we will not be back.
Nice atmosphere but their traditional breakfast certainly wasn t the best in Fredericton with prices slightly higher compared with others.
Tasty hot food and lots of it. Excellent Service.
Many weekend late night suppers here in the 80s after the College Hill Social Club, the Cosmopolitan, the Hilltop and the Chestnut. Fondly remember the Maritime interpretation of oriental food and the plum sauce as a dip for my rolls . I guess most of my patronage then was while being in a somewhat inebriated state . Now seems like a lifetime ago.
First time there in several years and was there for a work function at lunch. It was kind of disappointing. The lunch buffet was empty several times making choices limited, the rice wasnt even chicken fried rice.
Jumbo lobster roll not worth it. Closes early +/-7:30 rug vacuums turned on.
We went as a group of 12. The staff was disorganized. Nothing on the buffet was labelled, so we were left guessing what we were eating. Nothing stood out as yummy, we were all put off by the food. The fried rice was white! The food on the buffet was also cold (not even warm) unless it had just come out of the kitchen. Also, if I wanted to eat desserts from Costco, I would just go buy them from Costco. I dont use the word disgusting lightly but I would never recommend someone go here for a meal, and I honestly regret wasting $31.99 plus manditory tip, on the smallest buffet Ive ever seen. I had really hoped for better at that price.
We made reservations here for 16 people for my mother in laws 80th birthday. The tables were set up nicely, close to the buffet as there were 8 seniors attending. Very easily accessible. The food was hot and delicious. The staff were prompt and attentive. Definitely recommend it.
Very good dining experience with lots of options and great service. Our server guy was funny and very good at taking care of not use but a few other tables at the same time and wow he was efficient. I would come back and recommend this place to anyone and all. The chinese food is pretty good, I had the fundy fish and chips. Was excellent
Arrived at lunch time. Did not have to wait long for a table. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were offering their buffet again. As always, the food was very good along with the excellent service.
Wings are the definite highlight of the lunch buffet. They were hot and very tasty. The Chinese selection was pretty standard and unfortunately the curry chicken dish was ice cold. Nice dessert selection and I m very happy they replenished the chocolate pudding when asked. Service was acceptable, but not overly warm or welcoming.
Great food, excellent service. We were reeated there by siblings celebrating our 50th anniversary. Thankyou. Great memories
When we arrived in a group of 9, they asked if we would be okay with separating tables, we said of course so we split in groups of 5 and 4. The server brought out our water and blatantly rolled her eyes at us more than once. When we asked what the cheesecakes were for the day she sighed and was very rude when giving them. She was overall a horrible server, and the hostess was also very rude in seating us, as they told us we were to separate but there was a table big enough for us that was not on reserve. On top of the awful service they charged us Gratuity even though we were seated on completely different ends of the restaurant than the other people we entered with. I feel like we were treated this way as we are young, it was very unprofessional on all of the staffs part.
Worst service ever. We came in as a group of young adults. They were extremely rude from the minute we arrived. They told us they couldn t seat us together despite the restaurant being half empty. So our very rude waitress seated us at separate tables. These tables were on completely opposite ends of the restaurant. We did not get to sit as a group. We were divided into two small groups. If you have a table (a singular table*) of more than 8 adults they automatically charge 15% gratuity. Despite our waitress being extremely difficult and not accommodating to our larger group, she still decided to charge us the 15% gratuity without our consent. She hit the buttons on the machine herself. We actually decided before that because she was so rude we weren t going to tip at all which we all had never done before. We just paid and left as we just wanted to get out of there. She explained she was doing it because we all came in together. Yet, wouldn t sit us together. Terrible service, will not be returning.
I never leave hungry, good sized servings always fresh and delicious. My date and I left satisfied.
Best food in town
Found the buffet to be overpriced for the contents of it . Had to ask for water and to listen to the waitress complain about the table behind us which brought the experience down.so I tried again tonight I ordered a burger for take out they put all the sauce in a little cup and gave me a cold raw burger and now refuse to respond about this
First time there and it was fantastic. Our server was wonderful and the food was delicious. Ill definitely go back
excellent service and went above and beyond for our family tonight. The manager an staff don t even know what they did for our family tonight
Historically good chicken balls. Some things may be hit or miss at times, but Ive always have loved their sweet and sour chicken. And the deep fried wontons:)
Feels like a assembly line compared to what it used to be poor environment
Food was great, Service could use some help, Server didnt smile, never ask if we wanted more water another Server had to refill our glasses. Parking: Plenty of parking and clear of ice and snow Kid-friendliness: Friendly staff mostly. Spacious room and a good kids menu Wheelchair accessibility: Yes they have 4 spots that are Wheelchair accessible
First time coming here, the buffet selection was terrible, food didnt taste good either and the saddest most disappointing factor was the fact that everything was non-intercultural food meaning it was heavily focused on pork recipes only not much to eat here sadly. I am sorry to say but I just did not find this place to respect other cultures in having a variety of other meats like maybe more beef, chicken, lamb basically any other meat aside from pork especially for people who dont eat that specific animal. Only positive side was good ice cream thats about it.
Had a wonderful server, the meal didnt take long however tye won ton soup broth was just barely warm. The rest was great.
Kid-friendliness: We brought our four year old and he absolutely loves it! Everyone was supper kind. Food
The staff is lovely, very friendly and attentive. The lunch buffet however was very lacking in flavour. Where was the seasoning? Everything looked fresh but the taste was not there at all. Absolutely disappointing.
Always great food and excellent service!
Very small buffet ... good food but hard to get around
Over priced for buffet considering how few options they have.
I wasnt hungry enough to warrant a full buffet, so I opted for a combination plate. The Chinese food was okay, not the best I have ever had, but good. I didnt really like the ribs, so I wouldnt order them again. Nice selection of white wine, but not a great red wine list. Service was fantastic and our server was really friendly and helpful.
My first time eating here. We were visiting Fredericton from out of town. Everything was 100%!!! Very highly recommended!
Had a wonderful time and tasty Chinese dishes .
Worst buffet ever! Passed through here in 2016 and was the best we ever had. Finally, after the pandemic, we were able to come here again tonight, on our way to PEI. NEVER AGAIN. This was the worst buffet we have had to date. Egg rolls tasted like box, Cantonese chicken tasted of raw flour and the Singapore noodles tasted like Lipton Chicken Noodles and Sauce; and those were the highlights. Much fewer items and the cost, essentially $32 per person, is no where near what it should be. Dont bother coming here.
Great service. There is a wide variety of choices on the menu - the whole family is sure to find something they like. The food is good and the prices are reasonable.
Parking: Had chow hoy sin. Lots of veggies. Was a bit salty but tasty. Waitress was friendly and accommodating. However, the steam rice was not too or liking. Food
Very Good
Excellent egg rolls
What a bad service
The wait staff are amazing. Always a friendly face for you. Breakfast is our favorite.
The food was amazing..lots of it and hot and fresh
Nice menu with many choices in spite of the buffet is only offered on the weekend. The waitress was very experienced and friendly. Parking: We parked right outside the front entrance, the closest parking spot ever.
In the words of Bob Ross.... Happy Little Accidents Had a hankering for cheesecake, and my son suggested this place. What I thought was a Chocolate Brownie Cheesecake was a Peanut Butter Brownie Cheesecake. And just like that, my life is complete! Food
You dont have to be a Diplomat to enjoy the Diplomat Restaurant (although only Diplomats are allowed to wear the complimentary Diplomat crown).
We were there for Friday night dinner after work. I have noticed that the prices have gone up a bit but the quality is still on the high side. It is a busy one. I would suggest to make a reservation before hand. There is Buffet option as well if you like. Parking: Shared parking space with Delta hotel
A great family spot in the heart of Fredericton! Portions are amazing, got the dinner for 2 and split it between 3 people with leftovers to take home!
Good Food, good service, peaceful atmosphere, Huge portions. I recommend it !!
Dear lord, that was the worst meal I ve had in a long time. The only saving grace was a decent waiter. The hot and sour soup was celery and carrots in some sort of gummy soy sauce. It wasn t sour and they used some sort of honey ham. They must have had a run on celery because that s all that was in the kung pao chicken. Just a dreadful meal.
Large portions and very fresh. I had the smoked meat on rye with fries. It came with a side of coleslaw. Everything was delicious and the sandwich had enough sauce on it to drip down my chin - perfect! The waitress was attentive but not pushy, and offered a take-away container without me asking. Id eat here again!
servings were huge.our waitress was amazing Vegetarian options: good Food : 4/5 |
Really decent Chinese restaurant. I showed up without a reservation and there was still room despite the traffic because its a very large restaurant. My server was really friendly and he even advised me not to have soup as a starter because the portions were so large. And he is right! I havent finished my Combo #1! Very fair price.
The food was good, and the server was awesome.
Fried rice felt like regular rice and curry noodles didn t have flavour. It s okay if food isn t great but the waitress got an attitude after we mentioned we didn t like the food. Not coming back
Home for 10 days, will eat here 5 times....
Totally, if your craving a variation of cusine!!
Restaurant was in walking distance from where we were staying for the night (Delta, Fredericton). They offer AYCE or à la carte menu. We opted for the à la carte menu and chose the 2 can dine. Be prepared for all the food because it was a lot and it tasted good. There was still room for dessert, and we got an oreo cheesecake.
Best Chinese food town. The egg rolls are brown cow cheesecake are a must! Always consistent great food and friendly service.
Got curious and tried their non-chinese food; and it was actually quite good. Most other places cant diversify like The Diplomat can. The fries tasted like they were done in the same kind of fat as deep fried wontons and they were to die for. Food
Consistently excellent service by wait staff that is very experienced. Food is served hot and fresh. A staple eatery in fredericton
I was surprised how good the Chinese food was.
Service is great! Not much of food selection as you would expect in a eat all you can buffet.
Love the Chinese food
Food was not as good as I was told but after eating at other restaurants in town I can honestly say...... go here and eat. Its reasonably priced. The waitress and staff are fantastic. Food : 3/5
I guess food is regional, and their food was the same but different. Most items are deep fried in stead of just stir fried, which was a bit of a shock and the wonton noodles were huge meatballs in a wrapper. The food was good but just different than I am accustomed to on the west coast. Great friendly staff.
The food was good, but I found the veggies were really hard in the chicken chop suey. The rice was ok. Chicken balls were really good, and the service was excellent.
Vegetarian options: Lots of options Kid-friendliness: Very friendly towards everybody Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
Don t be fooled by the awards on their site, the buffet is terrible. I ll give it one star for being clean and well attended. The food was limited in options and those options weren t great. Mostly flavorless and hard to identify. Save your pocket and your stomach and skip the Diplomat.
The food was amazing per usual and the service was extremely good!
Amazing
Very delicious and filling breakfast
They offer a great variety of foods and their service is predictably spot on. Clean, spacious and fair waits at busy times. They know how to turn tables and still not make customers feel rushed.
First time ever here and I was very impressed. Service and staff were awesome. Food was replenished often and was delicious!
They had turkey in the chicken fried rice
The food is very tasty & friendly staff.
terrible place to eat they don t have much selection. They also don t have labels on their food. I will not be coming back.!!
We arrived approximately 11:45AM at STMR. Party of two. No hostess at the door. We waited a few minutes. Then the bartender asked if we were dining in. After she finished mixing drinks for customer, she delivered the drinks. We were still waiting to be seated. So she took us to an empty table. A young inexperienced server was taking our orders. We both ordered the brisket. He came back a few minutes later to tell us that brisket wasnt available. Then the pulled pork wasnt available. We asked to see the menus again. He went and got them. My cousin ordered the Woodstock salad, it was lovely, she said. I ordered the seafood chowder. There were no scallops, lots of shrimp. A very sad chowder. Didnt even include a roll or biscuit, like other restaurants. A women stopped by, asked how our lunch was. I told her about the chowder. She replied Im sorry. I waited for her to say she would get me another. Nope. Then the young fellow serving us came back. I told him about my sad $20 chowder. I laughed out loud at his reply, he said Ill know better for next time. Next time, he cant be serious. As an apology, he gave my cousin and I, a creme brulee. The chowder should have been taken off the bill. Well, thats the story of my first, probably last, visit to STMR.
This place is so over rated. Im sorry
10 minutes late
Great Buffet lunch. Limited items but they were soooo good! No choice for dessert except ice cream BUT who doesnt like ice cream?
Hard to imagine that Canadian style Chinese food could be so good. The trick seems to be that they use high quality ingredients and make everything fresh. Pretty well my favourite restaurant in Fredericton. Plus, they make the best wings in Fredericton too. Very highly recommended.
The worst buffet! Overcharged for gross food. Never again.
Overpriced buffet with very little choice on it. What is there is bland and over salted. The menu is huge, but from what I saw at our 12 people table, none of it was anything to go back for. I dont think the restaurant has been updated in 25 years. Waitress were doing the best they could, but several people at our table were not asked for drinks, and when asked for water, they were never given it. Would not recommend or go back.
Best wonton soup Ive had. Chicken fried rice wasnt great. Rest of dinner for two was so-so.
Food is freshly cooked. The noodles need some work. Staff is friendly and helpful. Servers are top notch!
Second time being here, and this time, it was so busy. Even with the breakfast rush, the staff were attentive enough to make you feel welcomed. I had a breakfast dish, and the Toast was just amazing.. as, too, was the rest of the plentiful food on offer for a reasonable price.. should you find yourself anywhere near here.. (I know its in New Brunswick.. but I found myself there, so why not you) make sure you get in and enjoy what they have to offer
An absolute must to go eat at. Very friendly people, amazing tasting and presentful food, and good atmosphere.
What a wonderful evening tonight! We celebrated our 30th Anniversary in the lovely atmosphere, served by our very sweet waitress (I am so sorry that I missed catching her name, but she was wonderful!). The food was abundant, hot, fresh and delicious, as always. The Diplomat is our favourite place to go for Chinese, and you sure lived up to your wonderful reputation again tonight. Thank you!
Food is so so Service almost great but since there is a tip, of course they should provide 5star CS Atmosphere a little bit dark. Maybe because of the weather. We were there during dinner. I wish they have more options for seafood and veggie dishes
