What a great little spot! Awesome onion rings and Caesar salad and the staff are amazing and friendly! Grace and Cece(I hope I spelled it right) are quick, courteous and top notch waitresses!
I had been many years ago and had a "5 star" breakfast a few different times. Steak was always cooked how I like it (medium rare), perfect sunny side up eggs, and delicious home fries. I went for the first time in a long time last fall and recieved a well done steak, over cooked eggs, and subpar home fries. I really just thought they must have been having a bad day. But after my most recent visit I unfortunately think it's the new norm. My sunny side up eggs had runny undercooked whites, most of my home fries were burnt hard chunks, some were hard and still raw potato, and a few were cooked, my steak was cooked well done. The air conditioner was blowing directly at our table which made our food cold within minutes and us cold too. Honestly the only reason I'm giving an overall 3 stars is because our server was fantastic. Super friendly, quick, and polite, she deserves 5 stars! But this meal was not worth $22.99.
New owners, but more or less same experience. It seems like they're going to try to elevate it a little bit, but also keep a lot intact. No complaints, had a nice breakfast and the service was really good.
Very friendly place. Has a " Feel" about it. Good food. Sizable amounts of fare, and decent prices. Just reopened this week with a new kitchen upgrade .

Local hole in the wall. Great hangover breakfast. Had 5 star steak breakfast melt in your mouth beef. Quick service cheap beer.

STAY AWAY THEY DO NOT WANT TO SERVE YOU. So I have been going there for ten years now since getting posted to CFB Gagetown. Now I am retired, I enjoyed the place, but if youre a biker or in a club they do not want your service. No problem for years to my knowledge never an incident there but if they dont want clubs or member they dont want business. STAY AWAY.
Going there from saint john for the last 5 years. Turns out they dont want me there anymore. Just because of what my wife an I wear. UNBELIEVABLY discriminated against.

Had a bacon cheese burger platter it was top notch , Home made pattie, great fries and coleslaw. Gravey was suspect but I didnt come for gravey. Will be back.

long wait to order...longer wait for food....we caught on that people that were there when we came in were also waiting...and the few plates that went past us...to the wrong table...didn,t look great...this place is a dinosaur....let it die. we left...40 minutes ..for nothing

First time and last time going to Red Latern, put in order for simple breakfast and sandwich. Water was delivered to table, after that we became invisible. Sat and waited 45 min for our order, no one or nothing came to our table again. Cant comment on how the food might taste cause never got any. Finally had enough and left. Forgot to mention that it was NOT busy there.
Placed our order waited 45 minutes plus ended up leaving.

Ate there last August 26, 2023. Steak was good but it took 1 hour and 15 mins for it to arrive.

This tavern has been open for 50 years! Although the atmosphere may reflect its age, the cold beer, hot food and french fries galore make up for it. Good prices.

I am rather disappointed. All the food I had just seemed like they went to a store and bought the cheapest lowest quality of ingredients. My mozzarella sticks I got had literally no taste, My steak was wayy over cooked, I asked for medium rare. Not to mention the service... I felt like I was not wanted from the very start. When the lady came I just felt unwelcome. it was not a busy day at all like 2 groups of 3 and my group of 4. Yet took them 25 min to even just come over to our table to ask what drinks we wanted.. My group really felt this way as welI. I really dont recommend this place to anyone.

To the t.stewart person who is clearly a massive karen along with his wife (no tip, who does that). You sound like a nightmare patron. This restaurant is clean and friendly, with good food and good service never an issue. Maybe its just you and your wife. Ive never had any issues there, ever.

The Red Lantern is one of those classic sort of tucked away spots that make you go wow, why havent I been here before? Great menu selection and they really nailed my go-to medium rare more on the rare side steak. The atmosphere is a traditional pub style restaurant. The Lantern isnt buying you by serving your meal on a wooden board, theyre getting your business with good food and service.
Got ID there and the waitress was not nice about. Not a very welcoming vibe there.

Service was okay. Food took awhile but worth the wait. It was excellent. But, NO refill on coffee .... $1.50 for a second cup. If you ordered a meal, I think you should be entjtled to one refill.

An old style tavern atmosphere
Awful...told us 30 minute wait for food, was an hour. Omelet was burnt, steak over cooked, hash browns burnt on one side soggy on the other. No social distance and condiments on the table for all to touch and use without being sanitized.

My Wife and I went to the red lantern for late breakfast, I found the prices to be very fair, portions were a little small if you eat a bigger meal, however for the price you could just upgrade it. Staff very helpful and courteous. The meal was delicious cooked just right. I would recommend this place to any or all seats a little hard but that my only complaint.

They have by far the best steak and eggs breakfast, thats probably why they call it the 5-star. If youre there when its busy, expect to wait a bit but its well worth it.
