615 Queen St, Fredericton, NB E3B 4Y7, Canada
Great view of the river from the south side and great patio. Easily accessible from Queen street. Friendly staff however service was a bit slow. (I think they had a large table that caused some back up). We had the tuna poke bowl which was fairly meh, and didn't seem very traditional. Had the lobster roll, which was fine, but nowhere near worth it at $36. Overall good, but I would recommend a lot of adjacent restaurants before this one.
Really tasty place to eat right on the water! Lobster rolls were fantastic
In freddie for work, I've always passed by the lighthouse thinking it was only a historical site, boy, I was wrong! Patio perfect, with bar style high chairs surronding the edge overlooking the river. As for the food, excellent. Read a review suggesting the nachos, which we did, and the green curry. Both we great! Indulged in a hurricane bevy, refreshing and great tasting.
My bf and I went there last night and were turned away because one of us didn't have our ID. We came back and I noticed there were minors (teens and children) inside the eating/drinking area. I understand your liquor license requires you to ask for IDs at the door, but letting in minors contradicts that policy. You also aren't consistent with this policy - we had one server ask for IDs and while he was gone to "ask the bartender if they could let it slide", another server came out and welcomed us to sit wherever we like without question before the other server came out and said no. The food was also insanely overpriced for what you got. My nachos were pretty mediocre and "adding $6 worth of chicken" gets you like 6 small bits of previously frozen chicken. Our server and the drinks were the only good things about this experience. You're lucky we even came back and spent our money here.
Easily the best lobster roll I’ve had. Beautiful view. No complaints about the service.
I went with 3 friends. We had the Mac and cheese, the beef taco, burrito bowl and tuna poke bowl. The portions were very small and lacking flavor. The beef taco was soggy. The tuna poke bowl was very small and lacked flavor. Kinda tasted like soap. I was over all disappointed. If you want a drink on the river, this place has a nice atmosphere. Just avoid the food. Many better places to eat that are better. Also they no longer have flat bread of the week.
It's a cool spot to sit and have a drink!!! Food is really good and I do suggest the nachos! A little expensive but I mean, it's a patio restaurant attached to a lighthouse by the river downtown Fredericton. It's worth it.
Fun place! The views are definitely a highlight, and the location is charming. Food was good, I got a virgin Pina colada plus a poke bowl. A touch much vinegar in the poke, but nothing deal breaking. Service was excellent and timely. It's a touch more expensive for just food, but keep in mind it's a novelty restaurant, and as a complete package, it's certainly worth it. Would recommend!
Nothing but good times. Food is fab. Drinks are cold. View is spectacular. Its a local fave!
Good view bad service and expensive.
Horrible customer service. Would go into more detail but Im having a manic episode due to no help whatsoever
A fantastic place to eat and view is awesome
Gotta fix your hours. Wife and I came here from out of town and were excited based on reviews. Its September 21 at 8pm, it says youre open until 11pm. Nobody is here, and there are ZERO signs to direct people. Not cool.
Dietary restrictions: They were very accommodating of nut allergies. Food
Excellent food! Nice view
Perfect spot to have a beer. No stout styles, but some great ales and lagers, fresh and tasty cider can also be found here. Service is really nice. Its affordable and the view is amazing. A perfect stop if you plan to hike near St. John River. A perfect place to have a beer. No stout styles, but excellent ales and lagers, fresh and tasty cider can also be found here. Nachogate
Great spot
Really cool spot. Great food. Great view of river.
Food was below expectations, service was poor, there portions are for children not adults!! ,and you are not getting your money worth!!!
Good place
Al pastor tacos are awesome
Our server was very good and let us stay a long time to catch up. Then took our picture. She was excellent. Food was soo good.
Pretty decent spot for patio food; its part of the 540 chain. Would recommend better posting hours / days that its open, as often find that its closed.
We had horrible service here. I am not one to complain about service staff, as my partner and I have a combined 15+ years in the service industry. We understand what it means to be slammed, for mistakes to happen, and to have unreasonable customers. However, the service we had here tonight was some of our worst ever. To start, we waited an hour and half for our food from the time we ordered. This may have been more tolerable if they had at least gotten us our appetizer (bread and hummus) at any point rather than with the main course. At the 60 minute mark we contemplated just leaving, but we had ordered drinks to start and did not want to dine and dash. We came to regret this. It felt like we were being held hostage by our food order. Sometime during our wait, we asked for more water (not wanting to order more drinks because it had way too long already). At this point, the server gave all the customers around us water despite that we had specifically requested it. We tried to flag the server but even when we did she would only avoid us. At the 90 minute mark we got out food. Admittedly, it was tough to be upset because the poke bowl and the taco was quite good (the hummus not so much. Despite not wanting to, we complained to the server about who spoke with their supervisor. We were compensated 20% off. Honestly, I wish we would have just left early after the drinks. It would have saved us the money and the time. We love to support local businesses but this experience made it hard for us to want to come back. Good atmosphere though.
Our waitress was fabulous, such a beautiful spot to enjoy a cocktail by the river!
Magnificent place on the banks of the St-Jean River! You can enjoy a small cocktail there and take a small bite! It is a peaceful and pleasant place
Nice place, nice people, very lively place by the river St. John! Dog friendly Service
Kid-friendliness: A lot of their options, while great in reality, are a hard sell to younger children. Food
I was in a group of 5 friends and our drinks took ages to be served. When we ordered food, it took another half hour for the server to inform us that there was no beef left in the kitchen to prepare our sandwiches. Some of us just cancelled our orders and decided to eat elsewhere (at least they didnt charge us for the drinks). It is sad that a place with such a nice view has such poor service.
We tried the panzanella and tuna nicoise salads - not very tasty. Both salads were doused in the vinaigrette and the croutons were so hard and chewy. It s called a panzanella salad but there was hardly any mozzarella in there. We also had to wait for quite a long time before getting our food! It s so sad that a place with such a nice river view has such poor service!
Edit: service sucks and I dont know who put the chips and cheese on the menu but this kid should be fire right away. This place used to be good. Now itll take me time before I go back there. Good Thing 540 got it and brought food and beer at the light house. Food is de-li-cious and the view is just amazing. Highly recommend this place for dinner. Bring warm clothes, its windy.
Whyd ya spill yer beans? - Thomas Wake, The Lighthouse (2019) Good birria tacos! - Me, Real Life (2023)
Asked for the Niçoise salad and nothing special about it. Didn t have a special season and the dressing was not good at all. Staff was not so willing to help when we asked for something either.
Go for the view. Food was so so Very basic menu. Had the mac&cheese but it didn t have everything the menu described. Portions are small Presentation is like a food truck not an actual restaurant. Drinks are nice. Good for dessert as well
Super cute place with a great view of the St Johns River. Great food and amazing service
Excellent service, atmosphere and food. Had the tacos and they were awesome. Potato salad great as well.
Enjoyed the tuna nicoise salad and the lobster roll. The patio facing the river is lovely.
Exceptional location on the edge of the cycle path. The service was great and the tables on the terrace with umbrellas were very nice. The menu choice is limited, but acceptable for a canteen type restaurant. The food was good, but the chips slightly disappointing. If I went back, I would have the potato salad or soup as a side rather than Tostitos style chips.
Only selling feature is the location. Drinks were good but very expensive. Food was very meh. Our server was super nice but it was slowwww. Took over 45 mins after ordering for her to come back and say bad news theyre out of lobster rolls. We were in Fredericton for 2 days and lobster was on the list of have to have so was bummed, she brought us free chips and cheese which were very blah and waited at least another 30+ mins for our next order of food. The poke bowl was supposed to have edamame and avocado.. no edamame and dollop of guac instead
Super nice place for brunch by the river
Great spot for some lunch and a decent view. Will come back again.
Simply a must if you are in the area. If it gets hot, the water is close for a quick dip
Every road to this restaurant was blocked off by barricades or other methods to prevent access to the parking lot. Not worth the effort. Went to another restaurant.
Excellent food and amazing place! I told my daughter when we sat on the patio that it felt like Im on vacation! The view and the ambience felt that way! The food was delicious! Good job to Tony and team!
Landed at Fredericton airport and was recommended by Robbie at the FBO to have lunch here!!! What a fabulous recommendation!! Food and service excellent highly recommend.
Nice view , nice food and great service
My husband and I had an amazing date day here on July 21, 2022. Allie took very special care of us, ensuring not only that everything was ok, but that we were happy too. How could we be anything but happy? She went out of her way to first bring me a taste of a beer that was as close to a Red Ale (since thats my favorite) that they had, which I loved. We ended up ordering 1 extra of the same beer to share, which she brought out beautifully in 2 glasses vs just bringing the big glass with an extra glass on the side. Its these small, yet very special and important details, that I truly feel set restaurants apart in the same industry. Thanks so much again for such wonderful service and for helping make our date day that more special Allie! Elizabeth Monaco
Have never had worst service. My husband and myself came to enjoy a nice cold beer after a 7 hour drive. It took the waitress several minutes to come over. She never came to take our food order which were nachos .After waiting over an hour our nachos never came!! I inquired 3 times. She never came back once to ask if we needed another beer. Finally I got up to find her to get another beer. It was put up on the bar visible to us..the server was too busy socializing with her guy friend at a close table to bring his beer which sat for 10 minutes. Our nachos never came over an hour!!! I ended up saying forget the nachos we are going!! She clearly doesnt care about tips or her work! We were there tonight between 6 and 730
Tourist trap. The lighthouse is the bait.
great service beautiful view Wheelchair accessibility: there is a wheelchair ramp
Nice location. Great service. The nachos were awesome.
Tasty food, and good service! A pretty spot on the water to stop for lunch.
Waitresses were very friendly and fast. The drinks were ice cold and exactly what we needed on a +32 day. Drinking on the patio was really cool with a beautiful view of the river.
Location and views of the river are AMAZING!!! Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and fresh. Service was quite slow though. We waited a half hour for our nachos and then they came with no beef on them. Our meals were scrumptious, but also took a while to come out. Absolutely still worth going, and Ill be back again when I am back in Fredericton.
The employee I met is clearly over-it and has zero drive to be even the slightest bit pleasant to customers. Too bad because it looked like a nice spot - can t speak to the food or beverages as I did not stay
Really nice restaurant: good beer, good food, friendly service and a beautiful view of the river!
Good spot for a Beer Sandwich and a view on a summer day
Great atmosphere, food, and staff. Its a small location beside the lighthouse and the river, so it may be packed depending on when you go.
The water view was the only good thing about this place. 23 minutes and counting for a beer. No one has come around to take a food order either, not an appealing menu. People seated after were served before. Not going back and do not recommend.
Adorable little restaurant with a great view. A summer mest if youre visiting.
Very nice food and good serving staff as well.. very nice river view for dinner..
Great food and drinks
Nice place, great drinks, good food
The setting is a very nice place, however the service is NOT GOOD. The food I ordered was completely SALTY. I tried to take a couple of bites but it was IMPOSSIBLE to eat it. I discuss this with the girl, she takes my plate away from me and asks her not to bring me anything else. When asking for the bill, I saw that they charged me for the salty food! Without any apology or anything similar, terrible experience! I wont be back and I dont recommend it.
This spot is in a gorgeous location with a lovely view. Last year we really enjoyed the food as well, and we went several times. Im afraid we had dinner tonight and it was a huge disappointment: a noodle bowl drowning in liquid, and a supposed muffaletta sandwich that was on something like a kaiser bun. Ill still go back for drinks and maybe nachos, but Im afraid I wont pay for dinner again.
Cool, tasty, in the fresh air. We liked everything, the service, the food, and the atmosphere
Great atmosphere and best patio in town right on the river! We were there in the evening and lots of heaters to keep us warm! Server was super friendly, food was delicious and drinks were generous And it is dog friendly to boot!
Nice setting, no idea how any of the food or drink is because we sat for around 1/2 an hour and were completely ignored by all the servers. We were acknowledged when we arrived, told we could sit anywhere so we picked a table and sat down. 3,4, maybe 5 new groups came in and servers brought menus to their tables immediately. After about 15 minutes I went over and asked for menus and said we ve been here awhile and nobody has come over to our table so they gave us 2 and then ignored us for another 15 minutes so we left. Will never come back.
Great atmosphere, Worse service in NB. 30 min after getting the menu and yet no one asking for our order. Avoid if you want to have a drink.
Poor service. Ice cream was good and value for your money was average. But they struggled to say anything nice. Two young people were servicing and clearly didn t want to be there, yet the machine still asks for a tip. You need to at least say Hi to get a tip for service?
Terrific,unique food and excellent service.
Stopped in for a few beers. Great service and fantastic view. What a great afternoon here.
Our server, Izzy was AMAZING and will be the reason I will be returning. She was such a pleasure to talk with and I never saw her without a smile. While our food was a bit cold, her personality and and service made the experience great.
Very friendly staff and super welcoming! Nice place to have a drink at a patio with some friends! Even its burning hot, the nice breeze will definitely help you cool down!
Wonderful experience, amazing vibe, gorgeous views...........now lets talk the pitchers of SANGRIA.........BAM and had the opportunity to have an amazing waitress, by the name of, Katie. If you have a chance to get there, I wish you get to experience her charisma and amazing energy!! Will definately be hitting that patio again!
Amazing!! I had the Mac and cheese, big portions and was very tasty. For dessert I had the brownie peanut butter ice cream sandwich with shipping cream and a strawberry ontop. Was 10/10 WOULD RECOMEND!!
Good food, good beer (local on tap).
Food and drinks were delicious. Server was kinda abrupt but overall good experience. Would definately go again and refer friends and family to give it a try.
Nice view and the food was good.
Not great parking opportunities around
Highly recommend! Food, ambiance, service- all superb!
Excellent food and service
The food is awesome, the location is right on Main Street and close to the water. Speaking of the food, most of the food is local, and the chef prepares from scratch on site. Cheese, crème fraîche, everything!
Last week, some colleagues and I had a weeknight dinner at the lighthouse. It is one of very few places in Freddy that you can get a riverside meal. Nice atmosphere and its finally a good use for the lighthouse venue. Good beer selection, and the menu is quite eclectic, and no fries. This is actually a good thing, as it removes the temptation and lets you try other sides. The fish tacos and potatoes salad were excellent. Go before it closes for the season.
I was disappointed in the gyoza, but the service and the nachos were delicious. Would go back, but probably wouldnt deviate very far from the nachos for now on.
Apparently this is just a restaurant and the lighthouse on top has been closed for several years now (as well as the ice cream place that used to be there).
Absolutely incredible food and cocktails. The view and ambience is excellent. Highly recommended for food and drinks!!
Really nice location, very good food and excellent service. They really need to do something about washroom though, a real turn off.
Very nice place and food is good.
Perfect decor. Delightful staff. Great food. A must stop overlooking the river. Very clean - important factor. Ice cream vendor just down the steps: excellent
I love the picturesque views
Great little spot for ice cream with a nice deck and view of the river
Nice to read about the history, staff very friendly
Last time I was there about two years ago.
Now a Mac n Cheese place, haven t tried it yet.
Nice little lighthouse with a miniature tour inside. Though it was free, actually 2$ which goes towards helping dogs.
A beautifully restored lighthouse. A great picture.
Frederictons Eiffel Tower. Nuff said. ;)
Super busy and only one person was working.
We went for icecream and although the guy serving was acceptably polite, the serving sizes were pittyful. $4 for a tiny babysized cone they listed as a regular. (the choices of size were baby, small, regular, large). We wont be going there again.
Tasty!
Long waits in the summer for food but hey thats summer tourist season. The lighthouse gives a nice view of the city.
Nice area for walking, running, cycling, etc. Cant beat the river view.
Very nice terrace. The service was very friendly. The food was good. Its worth going up to see what life is on offer. Its also worth taking the time to climb because its interesting. Especially for children.
When I came in late fall it was closed, but anyway its a nice place to visit in Fredericton
Nice view of the river. Not too expensive!
Cool area with a nice view of the river. You can get ice cream and canteen food.
Love my summer ice cream
Me and my husband come here to just enjoy the view and take in everything that makes our city so beautiful. Good food too, fair prices.
There is no restaurant anymore. You can climb up to the lighthouse for an ok view of the river. The bridge is better.
Took my little guy on a bike ride to the Lighthouse for some ice cream; unfortunately all the entrances boarded up and the grass/shrubs are overgrown. Looks like its been abandoned for several weeks. Yet their phone message says theyre open today 10-10! I asked the folks outside if theres another entrance and was told theres been some flooding. The point Id like to make is: if youre closed, especially for an extended period, why not let people know? Update your answering machine and your hours on Google/etc!
This place is really just a casual BBQ burger / hot dog restaurant plus beer and ice cream. Very nice patio to sit on overlooking the river. Burger was great. Great choice of craft beer, cider and mead. We didnt go up the top of the lighthouse as the view from the deck is very similar.
Except for food, people can climb to the top of lighthouse and have a super awesome view in summer.
super place
Great spot for an ice cream overlooking the Saint John river.
Costco burgers and hot dogs... Limited drink selection. Ok spot for a basic beer looking out on the water.
Very rude service, food small portions and cold, Fredericton never had a lighthouse, tourists must keep this place open. Would not recommend. Nice deck and view if you dont mind the flies
Chill place. You can go get an ice cream and watch the boats go by while you relax in the shade of an umbrella
Fake lighthouse
Nice patio next to the river to go for a drink or an ice cream.
Great location and view. Im pretty sure there was table service year but we had to go inside to get our drinks this year
Great view of the river from the top of the lighthouse...and ice cream
Nice place to grab an ice cream and a beer. Great views of the river.
Must go up top to look over the city only 2 bucks a person. Cant be beat.
Beautiful place to grab a drink or just eating icecream with a nice view
Expensive ice-cream.
Light house building is on river st john. View is amazing. Moving clouds , blue sky, hills and river below. Very good for a walk.walk and contemplate.
Great view of the lake opposite light house.
Worst service Ive had in town, on more than one occasion. To add to that, they often dont have many of the beers they list and their servers dont know what their serving (not their fault, this should come with training). Also, craft beers served in disposable plastic cups? Common...
Perfect :) But after a few minutes it was done :)
Very pricy for the amount of food.
We ate supper here last year and had a bad experience, but decided to try it again this week. Bad idea. We received terrible service. It wasnt very busy (there were several empty tables), yet we waited for literally an hour to get simple sandwiches and fries. The food was mediocre, and expensive. My pulled pork sandwich was drowned in sauce, and the fries were only slightly warm, and not very tasty. We asked the waiter for a refill of water, but we were done eating and ready to go before we got any, even though she told us she was just about to get it 3 different times! Ice cream was pricey and nothing special. It has a nice location that is perfect for a pitstop on our regular bike rides, but after our experience, we will never eat there again.
The entrance to climb up is inside. The view was good. It gets a bit warm while climbing.
Food choice is limited but cute place to eat and has a good view of the river.
Nice views of Fredericton from top.
Great icecream and view!
The menu and website both boast of homemade ice cream; that is not the case though, they just sell Scotburn brand. A bit pricey otherwise. Probably the nicest patio in the city though.
Wonderful view. BBQd food is standard fare and pricey. I cant give a place that serves draft beer in a plastic dixie cup anything more then one star out of principle. Also, the burger is built with vegeniase or something like that instead of Mayo. It was kinda gross.
