The Palate in Fredericton

I was absolutely horrified to learn that this once lovely fine casual dining room now runs as a part time nightclub in collaboration with an outdoor party spot known for bar brawls and patrons being violated and taken advantage of. Now this I cannot support. Never will I be back.

One of my favourite restaurants in Fredericton. Great menu and chef, atmosphere, upscale and reasonably priced. A must dine when in Fredericton for lunch or dinner.

Busy,attentive and good food

The Palate blue plate special never fails to impress. A delicious and affordable lunch, and the servers were great with talking to and being friendly with our 1 year old. We will be back!

Some of the best food I have ever tasted. Cocktail was delicious. Miso Cod was out of this world. Everything was *5 stars* Beautiful spot for a nice dinner.

The food was simply excellent. Didnt know what to expect but the chef is clearely someone who takes great care in preparing flavourful dises.

The portions here are quite small, and the prices are on the higher side. Unfortunately, the quality of the food is just mediocre. This restaurant didnt make it onto my list of favorites.

Visiting from Ontario. Decided to come to the Palate for our anniversary and we are glad we did. Food was incredible and the plating was beautiful. Service was fantastic!

Had the brisket too small portions. House Salad was 2 cucumber slices some shredded carrots and too much arugula and I love Arugula. House salad dressing was lovely what little we were offered. Not worth 17 dollars. Stout was great. Staff was alright.

Ill be going back to Mamas Pub before returning to The Palate again. Food was underwhelming and too small a portion for the price at lunch. Server was OK, but seemed distracted by the other servers not serving. Was disappointed given this place was so highly recommended a few years ago. Food

Disappointed with food, service and atmosphere. Food was average at best. Lamb curry had not much spice/flavour. Wife ordered salmon medium and got very overcooked piece of fish. Sent back and was replaced with basically sashimi. Cold salmon, uncooked. The cheesecake dessert is not cheesecake whatsoever. It s condensed milk with a ?lemon taste? More like a fridge lemon meringue type of deal. Sticky toffee pudding is very dry. Waiter was average at best. The amount of smoke from the kitchen cannot be legal. The air was filled with smoke. Newly moved to Fredericton. Will not be going back. How is this place so highly rated?

We had a celebratory wedding dinner last night for our son. Everything was absolutely delicious from the appetizers to main courses. This was our first visit but is the brides favorite place to eat. Thank you for a perfect ending to a wonderful day!

Food was bland. However the main issue was servers were rude and unprofessional. After the desert, we were thinking to get few more drinks, but they directly brought the bill without us even asking for it. it seemed they were in a rush to get us out from there. There was not even any crowd there. I wont be recommending this place to anyone, not even my foes..

Intimate atmosphere, thoughtful menu and really friendly staff. This place came highly recommended as a place to eat when I was visiting the city for the first time and it was well worth it.

I usually dine in at the restaurant once in a while, and it always holds up to expectations. From great food, atmosphere and service, it is by far one of the best restaurant in Fredericton. With the changing menu, the dishes never fail.

First time there in several years. Had the club sandwich with the soup of the day. It was delicious. Will try to go there more often. My friend also enjoyed their meals.

The experience was good but the salmon salade was overpriced and it barely has salmon in it. The general portion of main dishes needs to be bigger to justify the price.

Food was below average in flavour, waitress not the happiest one and dark to the point I had to use my cell phone light to read menu.

Pretty disappointing.we added this spot to our trip from edmonton.Felt rushed from the beginning. I ordered the overpriced $40 ribeye steak .It had so much gristle I couldnt eat it not to mention it was 1/4 thick.The families meals were ok but nothing great.Our server seamed like she was on autopilot not really listening to what we were saying.The Room was filled with heavy smoke from The kitchen that almost made you want to gag! I have eaten in many different cities and in many restaurants all over Canada but I can honestly say that the Spicy Chicken Carbonara Linguine chicken breast, garlic, onion, mushroom, sundried tomato, jalapeno puree, bacon, rich creamy sauce, and parmesan is the best meal that I have ever eaten in my life. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, but I wouldnt want to be seated at one of the 2 or 4 tops that is just sitting in the middle of the room. Would be nice if they had some kind of privacy dividers to make it feel more intimate. I see other reviews mention how smokey the dining room was and I agree, I think they need their HVAC serviced. Our waiter was pleasant but not much of a people person. As for the food, the bam bam shrimp were tasty, but they had a little handful of mixed greens with red onion and baby tomatoes on the side that had no dressing of any kind, didnt seem to do much for the dish. The dessert, sticky toffee pudding, was really solid. As for the main entrees, the lemon meringue salmon was decent, the Korean fried chicken had good flavors, but they used a 9oz butterflied chicken breast which seemed like overkill and didnt present well, two chicken thighs wouldve been more tender and plated nicer. Both plates had a side of roasted potatoes which had clearly been sitting in a warming oven for too long, over seasoned with chili powder and dried rosemary and were room temp. Overall, disappointed with the main entree quality.

The only detractor in the evening is the noise level. For people with hearing aids I would suggest going early in the evening. Hard reflective surfaces amplify the sound and make it challenging to hear. The meal was fabulous, and the service was excellent. Food

Very good, authentic cuisine, with a French and international touch. We went there for dinner twice and were 100% impressed each time. The chicken breast, Korean style, was convincing, as was the salmon on vegetables or chicken carbonara linguine or seafood chowder. For dessert, the crème brulee... What more could you want? I had heard so many people rave about this place, and as its considered one of the more high end restaurants in Fredericton my expectations were high as well but the food/experience was a resounding meh. The waiter seemed like he was in a rush to get us served and out (even though there were many empty tables), and the atmosphere is lacking. Overall, wouldnt choose this spot again.

This is the place where you literally get what you pay for - excellent food, service and atmosphere. Take your woman/man here if you want a treat for them and yourself

Updated: the food and service were wonderful. My friend and I tried, and recommend, pork belly and the bruschetta as starters. For mains the lamb curry and the duck and we were not disappointed. The tap selection and cocktail menu are excellent.

The palate was great! Tofu red curry stir fry with rice was flavourful, well portioned and presented beautifully! Server was a nice lad, kind, knowledgeable, and efficient! Would return again! Found the curtain at the entrance kinda fun (helps keep the cold out I presume)as you walk into the restaurant! Maybe add some lights to make it magical! Vegetarian options: Many choices to switch the meal into a vegetarian friendly one! Parking: Street parking! Free during the evening!

What a wonderful place and atmosphere!!!! I had never eaten here before, I went last night with a friend I hadnt seen in 20 years. We had so much fun the food was AMAZING!!!! Our group enjoyed dinner here last night and I was very impressed by our service and food! I thoroughly enjoyed Harvest Maple Salad, the Pork Loin entree, and omg the Baked Brie was amazing!!

Ive been here a few times now, and I think its hit and miss. When its good, its amazing. Lunches here are usually excellent, their sandwiches are amazing. Dinners get spotty. The seasoning on meats is very inconsistent, heavy sometimes and other times nonexistent. The meat has been overcooked and dry. Weve also sat through a few occasions of staff fighting amongst themselves, and at least once weve watched staff quit on the spot.

Simply, an average restaurant trying to be a fine dining restaurant. Driving past this place and reading a few reviews I decided to try this restaurant. Well it was average at best. We ordered the special of the evening, a steak and a salmon dish. The steak dish was an average cut of beef with some fresh vegetables, mashed potatoes and a jus to add flavour and mask the dry meat. Beef tasted great as well as the veggies. Now the salmon dish. Order it, because it the salmon is great tasting, a bit over cooked and dry, but still decent enough to enjoy. Tell the chef to not put the taters (which I hated and was very disappointed in for mashed potatoes). The price point is definitely higher than the food quality. Now, last thing. I was craving for some Creme Brûlée and I should not have done it here. Quebec is where its at. The chef made a serious mistake of making the creme like a lemon meringue and it was way too sharp for a traditional creme brûlée. I get what the chef was doing but dont try to fix something that aint broken. Above all that I have said, the staff were excellent! Thank you David for your service, advice, and hearty attitude in helping us select our dishes.

We stopped by this place on a whim to grab a quick lunch and we were pleasantly surprised! The service, food and selection were amazing! Our server was so helpful and pleasant and he made sure our dining experience perfect. Also, I had the creme brûlée for dessert and it was one of the best I ve ever had!

Came for Thursday night date night special. Was EXCELLENT! Had the Maple Salad for 1st course and the greens were so fresh and crisp and the dressing was very tasty. The main entrees were delicious too. Crème Brûlée was great way to end. Service was super friendly and nice!! Food on this Canadian trip continues to be amazing

The Palate is a model restaurant in my opinion. Well designed food, consistently prepared, friendly staff and fairly priced.

This restaurant really is the backbone of innovative cuisine in the capital region. A nice open space with large windows facing the street, and friendly and efficient service.

This little gem has the best seafood chowder I have ever tried. Excellent service when dining in. 10/10 recommend to everyone!

I really love this place. Sofisticated food made with love. There is always a day menu for lunch with a surprise specialty. One of the no brainers is the Red Thai Chicken. The stuff is so kind and friendly. The girl who attended us today was so nice! Thank you for being innovative!

Stoped in for Brunch today around 10.30. I had the hunters breakfast and it was excellent . Food was delicious and the homemade beans And Jam were so good. Wait staff was friendly and the place was clean. I would highly recommend this place.

Great service and a nice ambiance. I went here for supper with my brother a couple of weeks ago. Overall, both of us really enjoyed it. The service was great and I enjoyed just sitting with a glass of wine inside. The Korean BBQ tacos as an appetizer were fantastic. Loaded with kimchi and expertly cooked beef, I would absolutely get them again. The pork tenderloin was a perfect dish. The tenderloin was cooked well and the sauce added a nice sweetness and tartness to the dish. The veggies were fresh and well seasoned, but the dish itself was a little too cool for my liking. If it had of been just a bit hotter when served, it would have also been perfect. Looking forward to going back and trying some of their other dishes.

So delicious I forgot to take a picture before eating! I had the classic breakfast and it was very well put together and the flavours were very balanced and the meal comes together nicely. I would highly recommend giving the palate a try if you are downtown and need some tasty food!

I just had a lovely meal with my partner at The Palate and I must say, we were very impressed! The pasta was silky smooth, steak cooked to perfection, and the baked brie was unique and flavorful. The sticky toffee cake with caramel rum sauce at the end was the cherry on top. It blew my mind. Service was also fantastic.

Fish cakes were ok, scallops were good, chowder was fantastic, well seasoned but I prefer a creamy thickish chowder so thats why I liked this one a lot.

We were told by a local shop owner to go here for dinner. It was sooo good. My husband and I both had the salmon with Parmesan. He added the seafood chowder which he raved about and I had a side salad which was superb. We shared the sticky toffee cake and wished we had gotten our own. Great service by Vanessa. The atmosphere is really great. Not overly formal, but polo/button down short sleeve, casual dresses etc fits nicely. The food is SO good. Perfect sized portions and entrees that are far from basic but also easily enjoyed and appreciated. Their drink menu is full and varied. Perfect for a mom and dad date night. I think Ive found my new favourite spot!

Our first not takeout restaurant experience of COVID-19. The Korea Fried Chicken was superb. That sauce, though. If they bottled it, Id buy it. please bottle it.

I had the salmon and it was delicious. The chocolate cheesecake for desert was heavenly! All COVID-19 protocols were in place and I felt very safe and comfortable eating there.

We are doing a Local Restaurant date night. And once again we were extremely impressed. Tried 3 appetizers and 2 mains. Did not disappoint. Ami, our service was attentive but not pushy. I definitely reccomend but may not return for a bit... because as I said we are sampling local restaurants.

Very good food. Really enjoyed the lamb (shank). The mocha crème brulée I will pass on next time as it was too much chocolate and less crème.
